Another thing to note in the update is that it automatically shows everyone's age.

For me it was probably a good thing. Half the people that followed me, or that I followed, were inactive anyway.
The age thing though... that's indeed something too. You can't opt to hide it. As far as I've noticed it's the same thing for being on- or offline. Sure, you don't have a fancy green dot or something next to your picture, but hover over it and you can see whether someone's online or not. Also no opt out for that.
