Fandom Cendrillon

In a kingdom a bit farther away from the others, it was cool and calm as usual. Nothing peculair really happened there, making some people believe that it was the perfect place to live in. That night, the royals and nobles were preparing for a ball. It wasn't strange to have them, but it sure was an excitement each and every time. Carriages with royals from the other kingdoms could be heard arriving in the kingdom to get settled in the townhouses to get ready for the ball themselves. Some came earlier than others, and the rest that were invited would come much later.

In the prince's castle, Rin was doing her best to make all the rooms look as the prince wanted. She was really young, barely fourteen years of age. She and her brother needed a good and stable place to stay, and when the job of working in the castle was offered, it would've been a bad decision to pass it down. She was clearly struggling with how much work she was doing and was starting to get stressed. However, she did not want to be kicked out of the castle and be left on the streets again, so she would not accept any help.

The blonde girl hoped that her brother was doing that was asked of him as well. If he left, then she would have to as well. She did not want to leave whatsoever. She enjoyed most parts about working in the castle besides the stress. She couldn't wait for the ball herself. She always loved seeing different people in their fancy outfits and recognizing some that came when previous ones were held. Though, those two things were the last things on her mind at the moment. She had to make the entire place look nice for that night, not wonder who would be there and what they would be wearing.

After dropping some of the glass cups on the floor and watching them shatter, Rin's eyes filled with tears. She trembled as she tried to pick up the shards, noticing that a few minutes had passed since the cups shattered. She pleaded inside that she would not get in trouble. As she kept dropping some of the shards, she allowed her tears to fall. She wasn't sure if she was being dramatic or not, but she felt like she failed a simple task. "The guests are going to arrive soon," She told herself even though it was going to be a few hours until they would be allowed in the castle. "D-Don't mess up again." She spoke to herself again, sitting there and staring at the mess. She stayed like that, too nervous to do anything else at the moment.

The ball was a special time for them all, Len had attended several with his sister during their time working for the prince. It was a nice accessory that was included in their job, most of Len's jobs consisted of helping the prince getting dressed, laundry, and occasionally helping his sister.

The servant was used to the heavy workload day that was the preparation for the party that lovely night, the night sky would always beam as if the darkest of nightlights. The castle would glow with laughter and joy, pastries of all kinds placed out, cloths of many colours spotting around the ballroom. Thar was Len's favourite thing about that night, how beautiful and breathtaking it was to feel and see.

"I was thinking that you could wear this, your mother had bought it for you before she died. You never wore it before, and I feel it'd suit you well, your majesty." Len commented, pulling out a suit covered in accessories. The suit was a variety of different blues, and suited the prince very well.

"Pass it here." Prince Kaito demanded, Len handed it over and the prince looked at it. A grim look on his face, remorseful and nearly breaking his composure.
"You may go check on your sister while I try this on." He told him briefly, Len nodded and left as he was told. He heard a smash and headed over to see the shattered cup.

"Rin!" He made sure to avoid the glass as he kneeled down in front of his sister and pulled her into a hug.
"Hey, listen to me okay? It's alright, we can fix it. You know Prince Kaito isn't merciless, we can clean this up easy and explain it to him after the ball. He is always much calmer then." Len explained, hoping that it would help Rin feel better. He pulled away slightly to look his sister in the face.
"Okay?" Len smiled at her with his usual smile.

"B-But I still messed up! I'm going to mess up again, without a doubt! Then he's going to send us away someplace..," Rin sniffled and wiped her tears, clinging tightly onto her brother afterwards. "I don't wanna go anywhere b-bad." She hiccupped and tried to clean the mess by herself again. Once she had done so, she looked at Len with her still teary eyes. "What were you doing before?" She asked, wanting to change the topic.

The girl did not mind the prince at all, she thought that he could be pretty nice at times. She knew that he could be a little harsh with her but would calm once he went somewhere he enjoyed. She cried pretty often despite that, but usually did it alone so he would not get annoyed and punish her. Rin was glad that he wasn't too mean, though, and forever would be. She was quick to change how she felt, too, though. She would be sad for a while but would feel much better and go back to normal once comforted.

She did wish that she would not have to work someday and live a life of luxury like she watched the prince live. Rin wanted that for herself and Len desperately, but knew that she would continue dreaming and watch others live it - never herself. For now, she was trying to make the best of it and continued to clean whatever remaining glass particles there were until she realized that she already cleaned as much as possible.

"It's okay, we'll be okay. Just breathe." Len held Rin in his arms for a little longer, then he let go of her to start cleaning up the mess. He wished that he could make Rin feel better, but there wasn't much he could do. Len was happy that the prince didn't mind a couple smashed cups, as Prince Kaito knew what he was getting when he hired the two of them.

"I was helping Prince Kaito get ready for the ball." He explained, picking up pieces and proceeding to throw them out.
"He told me to come help you." Len told her, he felt already exhausted, thinking about what they had to get it done before the ball started. He wished he could have more freetime, both him and Rin, but that wasn't realistic. They had been lucky enough to get the job, they would have been on the street if it weren't for Prince Kaito.

"He wanted to be alone, I may have suggested something that may caused him to get upset." Len put his hand on his face, realizing his mistake all of a sudden. He shouldn't have done that, but he was so distracted and overwhelmed that he hadn't thought about his decision till much after.

Rin looked up as soon as he said that. "What did you suggest, Len?" She asked as she fixed the bow in her hair. "Was it something really bad? Oh, he did not sound or look too upset now, did he?" She asked with a lot more concern in her voice now. "I'm sure it wasn't anything that bad, hopefully," She said to herself, mostly just to calm her nerves.

The girl looked outside through one of the fancy colored windows to notice more guests arrive in the kingdom. She watched as they were helped out of their carriage and were bowed to once they were completely out. She knew she had to do that every time Prince Kaito came back from a trip, along with ask him how he enjoyed it. It was like that after any event, too, as she had to clean the aftermath and ask him if he had a good time or not. If not, she and her brother usually got in trouble or were scolded. If he did, they got a very simple praise.

Rin continued to look out the window, standing the tips of her shoes in order to see as much as possible. She turned to look at the other servant before going over to him, hugging him again from fear. She really hoped that the prince did not get very upset. She got terrified whenever she upset him herself, and did not want to think what would happen to Len if he did get really angered.

Len stiffened up, his mind completely realizing just how bad his suggestion was. He put his hands up to his head and grabbed at his hair, and started hyperventilating.
"T-the suit t-hat his mom got him." He stuttered out, he really hoped that it wouldn't turn out completely bad. He didn't wish for everything to go wrong because of him making sure an insensitive suggestion.

Len felt his heart lodge in his chest from anxiety, he took a deep breath.
"L-Let's just focus on getting everything ready." Len said, letting go of his hair and trying to calm himself down. They needed to take deep breaths and do their best, they couldn't keep freaking out of the mistakes that they already made.
"Let's just. Make sure the ball goes well." He noted.

Rin held onto her twin tighter when she saw him panic. "It's okay, like you said, he's probably not too mad," She then nodded at what he said last. "That's exactly what we must do. Let's go before it starts!" She said and began to finish any preparations needed to be done before the ball. Before they knew it, it was time for it to start.

Rin skipped to the prince's room and knocked before entering. "Prince Kaito," She gave a small curtsy. "The guests are starting to arrive now, I believe. I think it means the party is going to start!" She smiled softly.

Meanwhile outside, a carriage pulled up in front of the castle much later compared to the other guests. It was slowly moving and a bit mysterious. Miku, a royal from another kingdom, was helped out of the carriage. She was pretty with her long blue pigtails and her silk white dress. Her matching white heels went perfect with the clothing. She knew why she was here - find the prince, kill him when unexpected. It was what she needed to do, no matter what it took nor how long it would take. She had a small blade tied under her dress just in case she had to chance to complete her plan that night. She doubted it, but it always was best just to see. With her head hung low, she walked with the rest of the guests inside the castle.

Len nodded vigorously, he needed to calm down and focus. He got up and started with some last minute preparations that he had set aside as they were simple and easy to put together. He never liked leaving the biggest hardest things for last, he always did the easiest last.

Those things being the folding of napkins, the placements of the food, plates and punchbowls. Len made sure that everything looked very beautiful, as he really wanted everyone to enjoy the ball. Len wanted it all to be perfect, he wanted Kaito to be proud of them.

Kaito snapped out of his daze while looking at what he had been suggested to wear. He stood up and pulled it behind himself.
"Yes, Rin. Thank you for telling me, I will be right out." Kaito told her briskly, as soon as Rin left. He started to put on the clothes he had been suggested to wear, and looked at himself in the mirror to make sure every little detail of it was in place.

The ball was important for so many reasons, several of them being business reasons as well as keeping relations that otherwise would be out of place and hard to keep fresh otherwise due to busy and tedious schedules.

Rin rushed to the gates where the guards were to greet everyone as they entered. "Len! Len! Everyone looks so pretty, huh?" She pointed out to her brother, resting her head on his shoulder once they were in the ballroom. "That's going to be us one day, yeah? We'll have fancy clothes and I'll have a pretty bow! Ooh, we'll have a carriage, too!" She said. She really wished that would happen and had slight hope that it would eventually. She sometimes did forget that it more than likely couldn't happen, as the two would have to work until their deaths.

Due to her talking to her brother, she was not able to see the mysterious girl in the crowd. Miku looked around with her bright blue eyes. "Find the man...The prince...Kill him..." She muttered under her breath. She would have to complete that task, she knew it. She repeated it a couple more times really quietly in order for nobody to hear and for her not to forget. She watched the other guests talk about this and that with each other. She thought it was a complete waste of time.

Miku decided to stay away from the others, sometimes walking past them to hear what they were talking about. Uninteresting, a bore, and dull, she thought their conversations were. She didn't understand how nobody was talking about more interesting topics. However, she realized that it may have been a good thing that they were talking about everyday things and about their own kingdoms. It meant that they would be happy and hopefully not notice her. She did not want to be noticed by anyone at all. It would ruin her plan, and she could not have that.
