So I have decided that you can choose whether or not your felon is a newbie or not on the island. If you're a new person you don't have to be new to being in prison, although you can be if you want to. The people chosen for it are more or less chosen at random, so you could have done something that only gave you a 6th-month sentence and been sent to the island anyway. Or you could have been in prison for 8 years and suddenly they decide to ship you off.

: History:
Sadie comes from a broken home, and more than one psychiatrist has said that's why she's got the issues she's got. She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at thirteen, after taking her mom's credit card and going on a five thousand dollar shopping spree. She had no remorse, stating that the woman had been drunk and was 'asking for it to be taken'. She spent most of her time on top of the world; nothing could bring her down. The only thing that most people noticed was her fast-paced speech, but most just chalked it up to her age, or her maturity level.
But when she crashed, she crashed hard, and it could go one of two ways. She'd spend weeks in bed with a box of tissues as her best friend, or she'd get angry. Nothing was safe when she was around. She'd throw things, scream, even hit people if the situation was right. She went through doctors like underwear, and eventually ended up in a psych hospital. It was there, at age seventeen, that she finally got straight. They put her on a set of medications that seemed to work for her, and she emerged a totally different person.
It was during college that she met Daniel. They hit it off right away, and even kissed on their first date. They were together for a year before things got dangerous. They were living together, and money was tight. Sacrifices were made. Sadie was doing pretty well, so she thought she could sacrifice her medication. Just for one month, she said. But she was wrong.
Daniel had a female coworker that flirted with him, and Sadie had caught her doing so. Daniel never flirted back, but without her medication, Sadie had no way of making a clear, rational decision. She thought he was cheating.
So, she lit their apartment on fire.
Personality:
Sadie, when medicated, is a really fun person to be around. She loves partying, although she was never much of a drinker. She just didn't like the way it made her feel, so she rarely got drunk or plastered. But going out? Sure! She could dance her ass off on the floor and make just about anybody laugh. Her own smile is infectious, and when you see it, you want to smile too.
When unmedicated, Sadie is a totally different person. She's scary and unpredictable. One minute it's smooth sailing-- the next, all hell is breaking loose and you might not know which way is up, and which way is down. She sure as hell doesn't. Stay out of her way, because she's a hurricane, and she'll knock you right over to get to what she wants.

HISTORY

Blade, as he prefers to be referred to as, was born with no family, right from the start. He was abandoned in the hospital on day one by his teenage mother, who left in secret. She left no note for Blade, she didn't even give him his name. Instead, it was given to him by the hospital, who gave him his legal name "Bernard". His last name was given "Doe", like people when they are found and no one knows their name. He was the same, in a way. Not long after he was sent to an orphanage run by the hospital. It wasn't uncommon in that area for mothers to give up their children, and the government had made that orphanage in an effort to keep children out of the streets. Blade lived there until he was 9, and after many run away attempts they finally stopped following him. He had always been filled with rage, a problem child, you could say, and they had simply given up, or at least that's what he assumed. It wasn't like anyone in the area was going to turn him in anyway. No one gave a shit about anyone but themselves in the slums, and Blade had to fend for himself. He learned to pickpocket and steal, and he was damn good at it. He had a drink before he was 11 and was smoking cigarettes by the time he was 13, and not long after he moved his way up to marijuana.

He never went to school after he left the orphanage, and they had homeschooled him some religious bullshit that didn't help anyone in real life. Sure, you could believe whatever the hell you want, but religion doesn't teach you math and science. He was book stupid and street smart. Street genius actually. He started selling pretty quickly when he was 14, realizing it was good money and he wouldn't have to steal anymore. He was good at it, really good, and eventually managed to get his hands onto some plants of his own. Things escalated from there, getting his hands on more and more drugs until he had a whole business underneath him. People followed him, protected him because they knew he would protect them. He named them "The Diamond Snakes", and it stuck. He got tattoos to show his rank, to make himself known among the others. He became a very, very powerful man.

PERSONALITY

Blade is a real rough around the edges guy, and he doesn't show any soft spots or weaknesses. They're there, but you'll have to work your ass off to find them, and you'll likely get killed in the process. He's not a nice guy, but he can pretend to be one really well. He is a good liar and he knows how to get what he wants. He's almost charismatic in a way, despite his true nature. That being said, only naive people will fall for his act. Anyone who knows anything about his lifestyle and his position would know that no one like him ever is anyone nice. Most of the time Blade doesn't feel like he has a reason to be kind to people, when it doesn't involve him getting what he wants. Life has done nothing good for him and he doesn't see why he needs to do anything nice for anyone or anything else. He's coldblooded and while he doesn't do the dirty work himself anymore, if you get on his bad side you might just be killed.
