Idea poundtown

I will most likely regret doing this. But I will do it anyways, because why not.

Feel free to comment and suggest shit. Maybe even show interest, if you're intrigued, so I can get hyped up and continue working on this. Or maybe not. It's your call.

Anyways, coding is done be me, give credit, don't steal, bla bla bla.

Also, thanks to the wiki and random images on the internet. Credit goes to their makers.

"The surviving humans built three walls - Maria, Rose, and Sina."

wmaria.png
Wall Maria
The outermost wall of humanity's last home. Wall Maria, just like the others, stands at a towering 50 meter height, and is made of incredibly sturdy materials, enough to withstand the constant bashing of titans outside the walls. The distance of Wall Maria to Wall Rose is about 100 kilometers. This wall houses the Shiganshina district.

wrose.png
Wall Rose
The secondary wall defending mankind. Should any disaster occur that would render Wall Maria, the residents of the outermost district and area are to evacuate to Wall Rose's confines. It contains the districts of Utopia, Calaneth, Trost, and Krolva, in their locations - north, east, south, and west, respectively. The distance from Wall Rose to Sina is about 130 kilometers.

wsina.png
Wall Sina
The innermost wall, protecting the king, the nobles, and the rich. Considered to be the most secure location out of all the walls, with the best military police constantly roaming the area. Houses the districts of Orvud in the north, Ehrmich in the south, Stohess in the east, and Yarckel on the west. At the innermost of this place lies the capital, and underground, the rest of those which cannot be housed on the surface. The wall's radius is about 250 kilometers.

THE MILITARY

The 104th Cadet Corps
The hundred and fourth trainee corps, filled with fresh recruits and old repeaters who wish to join the military for their own personal agenda.

While under this banner, the trainees are to go under various difficult trials and mock missions, all necessary to prepare them with an encounter against both man and titan. Things such as written and oral examinations are as crucial as practical and physical training sessions.

The trainees are graded for every activity they partake in. Those with the ten highest marks at the end of the training are allowed to join the military police. However, the training the people go under is known to be to harsh, that many lose their will and determination continue. In worse scenarios, trainees die in the middle of their training sessions.

At the end of the training, those who passed are given three choices:

Garrison.png
To join the Stationary Guard.

To protect the walls and keep it under strict and delicate maintenance.
To be the first response should there be a break-in through the walls.

To join the Scouting Legion.

To venture beyond the walls and secure bases for humanity.
To find the truth behind all of this and attain freedom.

To join the Military Police.

To maintain peace and order within the walls, and enforce the king's law.
To evacuate the people should there be any unfortunate occasion, such as the walls being broken.

Three-Dimensional Maneuver Gear

jzRhDfu.jpg
The 3-Dimensional Maneuver Gear, or simply 3DMG, is a set of equipment developed by mankind to face the titans in combat. The requisite equipment takes the form of a body harness that encompasses much of the body below the neck.

It grants the user greater mobility by being able to move and fight in three-dimensions as opposed to the regular man's two-dimensional limit, allowing them to cling onto walls and trees, and even artificially 'fly' through the sky. Although the equipment can grant a skilled user tremendous mobility, it is a demanding art that requires strength, and skill, both of which must be honed through constant practice.

However, not all can be given this. Only those enlisted within the army are allowed to utilize this, and even then, they have to go through a rigorous and grueling training, called the 3DM Gear Training. There, humans, which are limited to two-dimensional movements, practice to adapt to movement in the third dimension.

Great physical strength, particularly in the legs, coupled with spatial recognition abilities, as well as the mental strength to not waver in the midst of a panic, are crucial qualities.

One of the first things done after enlisting in training is the 3DM gear aptitude evaluation. Those unable to remain upright are dismissed.

Three years of training are needed before officially becoming a soldier. Many run away or are driven out before graduating. The training is so intense that some people actually die during the process.

The 3DMG consists of the following:

Main Housing - The winch resides inside a housing, located on the wearer's lower back. There are two independent shafts, with spools of steel wire.

Hand Controller - The system is control via a pair of hand held controllers which also serve as hilts for the wearer's swords. The inner workings of the controllers are a closely guarded secret. The technical department manages and improves this system under strict security. Two triggers are used to launch and retract the hooks while a lateral switch aims the hooks. Finally there is a brake to stop the winch from paying out any more cable.

Compressed Gas Cylinder - Two cylinders, one on each sheath, store compressed gas which is used to both fire and retract the grapples.

Blades - The blades are made from an extremely tough steel, which is both supple and strong, capable of rending Titan flesh. It can only be manufactured in the blast furnaces of factory cities. Soldiers usually carry more blades in boxes built at the sides of their thighs.

Turbine - Gas from the cylinders is blown directly into the turbine powers the winch to retract the the grapple cables. The pressure of the gas is regulated to control how quickly the cable are retracted.

Although this grants humanity a huge advantage to titans, it still does not guarantee victory, and has many flaws. Human error can is easily one of the main reasons of the shortcomings of the 3DMG. A simple miscalculation can mean life and death, a mere misstep can cost one an arm and a leg. The blades themselves are prone to breaking after over-usage, the ropes can be easily cut down, and the compressed gas is drained quickly if one is not careful.

Siege Cannons
qEHeDy7.jpg

eFcJSk0.jpg
Cannons were the primary weapon used to engage the Titans before the development of Three-dimensional maneuver gear.

Despite the ability to blow a Titan's head off in one shot, half of all Titans will merely regenerate their heads; the only certain way to kill a Titan is to destroy the nape of its neck. In addition, the time it takes to reload and aim a cannon makes it inapplicable for offensive strategies against Titans. However, cannons are still used in static defense positions, most notably on top the walls and near gates in the event of a breach. As such, they are used most often by the Stationary Guard, who patrol such areas.

The cannons fire two different types of ammunition:

High Explosive shells are used to attempt to kill a Titan by destroying the nape of the neck in the blast, but the cannons have terrible accuracy, making these shells almost useless at longer ranges.

Grapeshots are the more traditional cannon rounds and are mostly used to slow down Titan advances with their wide, dispersion shots.

TITANS
Mankind's One Fear

Regular TitansRanging from 3-15 meters in height, these titans compose the vast majority and are very variable. They all resemble humans but with lesser to greater deformities, some of them walk on two feet while others walk on all fours. They are also variable in regards of their level of activity and response to pain.

Their only common features are their mindless nature, and their reliance on sunlight.

They would always head towards the first human on sight, without further planning or reasoning, making them easy to deceive and lure into traps. However, they are still dangerous due to their sizes, physical strength and numbers.

Abnormal TitansAny Titan that displays abnormal behavior or intelligence is classed as an Abnormal. Unlike most Titans which mindlessly attack and devour humans on sight, Abnormals often ignore nearby humans and charge to more important locations where they can do more damage.

Some Abnormal Titans possess noticeable physical deformations, such as lacking skin in certain areas or carrying less weight than others.

Why do you wish to join the military?
Answer

I don't understand what you mean where humans without the 3DMG can only fight in 2 dimensions. Can you explain? Last time I checked humans can move through 3 dimensions...?

Now, I'm no AoT expert, so I'm not sure if this is accurate, although I did refer it from the wiki. But from what I've read and watched, there is a somewhat sensible explanatation for that. Any AoT fans/readers/watchers out there, feel free to correct me.

Normally a human cannot immediately do a diagonal movement, instead they have to turn right/left, then move forward/downward or jump up/down. They are limited to two dimensions of movement - horizontal, and vertical.

But when equipped with the 3DMG, the 2 dimension restrictment is lifted. They can immediately move diagonally without turning left/right then moving forward/backward. The ropes+hookshot mark the trajectory of their movement, then propels them to the said direction, essentially skipping the necessary vertical/horizontal movement.

So by that last reply, I'm guessing that you don't have to follow AoT too much to join? 'cause I like the concept of it, but the show itself is painful for me to watch, I really don't like it. HOWEVER, the weaboo in me that likes action would be down.
