Lemus
Lemus has three sections to their government:

  • The Royal Family; face of Lemus, going by the title, 'king'.

  • The Chancellor Circle; a group of high ranking nobles with fame and wealth

They control many of the scouts and spies of the kingdom- it being the Rangers Branch and a hand in the secretive group, the Nightingale.

[*]The House of Representation; reps from towns, villages, and clans that speak their minds

  • They take part in the formation of The Order, Lemus's main military unit.

[*]Noble House Creag

"Even death is a lesson you can learn from"
-Teachings of Thanatonautics

  • Thanatonautics: A practice of warlocks(1) less afraid of taboo, involving voluntarily die in order to experience insightful visions before being revived. This is done for the sake of power and knowledge unobtainable through normal means. Referred to by some as Death Walkers(2), those that seek the secrets of the universe in the fabric of that which ends it. Those that take part in this practice often worship the God of Death Noctis, though it is unclear why this is the case. Such a practice is not encouraged by Geovitae scholars openly of whilst the gruesome nature of repeated voluntary suicide is one of those sure reasons that unsettle those outside of the order. It is not clear if this is the exact reason or merely part of a set of reasons as to why it is not encouraged. The process is simple enough. The Thanatonaut dies, sometimes violently and often deliberately, and during those death throes and the silence that follows afterward they are able to momentarily achieve a clarity of sorts. With this, they pierce the veil of death and unravel its mysteries. However, the passing is something that should not be endured for an extensive period of time. Their fellow explorers(3) are required after a short period to revive the fallen brother, or sister, interrupting whatever revelation might have been occurring. And after all of that when they return a person is never the same. Sometimes they are better and sometimes they are worse. The knowledge gathered may have changed their perspective on the universe. Not to mention the fact that with every journey 'there's always a small gap in the memories' (4) of any warlock undergoing the process.

The act of Thanatonautics is, relatively speaking, a new one. It was invented by those thought to sick, mutated, or far gone from humanity. But between the frequent down periods (5) experienced by these people, some would see things greater than themselves. And only a warlock would have the intellect to tap into this and decipher the meaning. And so the art of Thanatonautics was born. Warlocks would from that day forth go hunting secrets in death. Though it is certain that many warlocks practice Thanatonautics there are a few that stand out above the rest. Many of these great minds made up the foundation for the order but there are still to this day many that further many fields of study in modern times. Take Dr. Cipherous (6) for example. A scholarly sage who used the practice to advance the fields of medical science and development of medical tools. The revelations of his knowledge are still being understood. Another example is Pujara (7) of the elves. She took this practice to transport herself to the world of the past in order to uncover the secrets of old. However, it's said that after returning from one of these explorations she retreated from the world, taking any knowledge she may have acquired with her. Some say she went crazy from this while others claim that she was already crazy, to begin with. However, some Thanatonauts claim to have seen and heard her during some of their trips into death, stating that the knowledge she gained was too dangerous for anyone to know.

Thanatonauts who..are... particularly well practiced are known to make use of a technique using the Thanatonaut's Lullaby (8): A series of readings and passages that are often said to ease the passing. This is actually an artifact create by the earlier Thanatonauts as a means of both being a comfort for explorers and to act as an anchor, or guide, point in case the person becomes lost or nervous. All Thanatonauts are recommended to carry one with them. In terms of their greater role within Geovitae are now somewhat more integrated and a little less taboo then during the time of Osiris' exile(9/10). One other thing to note is because of the poorly explored nature of the practice the full extent of the power of a Thanatonaut is not entirely understood. However, some theorize that they are some of the most powerful warlocks of all. The reasoning for this range from Osiris' and Pujaras' ability to communicate even after the death of their mortal bodies.
