Realistic or Modern Grow Up

Daughter of Hades

Senior Member
Growing up. Going to college, getting a job, paying bills. No one wants to do it. But,it's part of life. Don't get me wrong, lots of successful people don't go to college. We're not any of them though. We all have to GO TO COLLEGE!

I brushed a strand of purple hair from my face as I looked up at the university. "Someone kill me.." I muttered, pulling my computer bag higher up my shoulder. It was my first day at University and I WAS NOT AMUSED! I adjusted my black snapback that read: DONT BLINK in bold white letters,a clear refrence to doctor who. "Let's do this." i sighed, walking up the steps to go to my dorm room for the first time.

I was greeted at the front desk by a short little woman. "Hey." I said. She looked me up and down. "It's getting cold out there, thoes jeans won't suffice in keeping you warm." I looked down at my torn jeans. I rolled my eyes. "Great job Sherlock, you noticed someone's attire. How bout' next time you don't give me shit about it and give me the key." She snarled and handed over a key. I climbed the stairs and opened up my door, taking out a cigerette as I threw my bag down.

Katrina sighed as her super rich parents dropped her off at University "Bloody hell...' she said, gripping onto her Victorian looking brown suitcase. She headed towards the administration and went up to the old looking receptionist "What can I do for you love?" the receptionist asked, her voice nasally and she loudly chewed gum. Katrina placed the suitcase down on her side "Uuhh... I need my dorm room number uh.." she squinted to see the badge on the nasally woman "Uh.. Barbara" she said in a snarky tone "Jeez lady, calm down" Barbara retorted and typed something onto her computer 'What's your last name?" she asked, not looking up "Matthews" Katrina replied and Barbara typed something else up. Barbara gave a small smirk and handed Katrina a key and a campus map "Welcome to USC, enjoy your new dorm with the Emo" Barbara smiled evilly, trying to hold in a cackle. Katrina grabbed her suitcase and snatched the key and map off Barbara and headed to her new room "Whatever" rolling her eyes at the receptionist. She slid the key into the lock and opened it to reveal a girl already there "Oh... So your Emo then..." she said blankly to the girl, referring to what Barbara said earlier about the girl @Daughter of Hades

I shrug and proceed to light the cigerette I had in my mouth. "You could call me that I guess. Most just call me a looser...or a whore. Whichever. " I offer a hand. "I'm Marie. You are?" She seemed nice. Pretty cute, interesting. Probably okay to live with. "I've shot dibs on the farthest right. "I said, gesturing to the bed on the right with my backpack on it. Other than that I didn't have anything else.

((Back from school so I'm just waiting on you to reply. :) )

Calla stretched as she exited the cab that brought her to the university she was attending. She didn't have a car yet, since she was still new to the town and everything, so she had to travel using cabs or her own two feet. She pushed her red bangs back from her face and straightened her glasses, making sure to avoid ruining her eyeliner and prevent her beanie from falling from her head. She was wearing a pair of skinny jeans, a T-shirt that said, "May the Force be with you," and a black beanie held up by a couple bobby pins. She wanted her first day to be the best, so she wanted to wear what represented her.

She walked across the campus, admiring the scenery. Such beautiful trees, Calla thought to herself as she walked across a small hill with a tree at the top. That would be a good place to sit and read. Slightly farther down the hill was the Administration building, where Calla knew she needed to be. She had a map of the campus in one hand, and a checklist in the other. As soon as she reached the building, she used her shoulder to open the door and was greeted by an elderly-looking woman named...Barbara.

"Hello, Mrs. Barbara! My name is Calla Wynoak, shouldn't be too hard to find! I just need to find out which dorm I'm in. Would you mind helping me with that?" She asked the old woman cheerfully. Nothing was going to ruin her first day. The woman smiled at her and nodded, replying with, "Why of course, dear. You're much more polite than the other young woman who was here." The old woman shook her head before handing the dorm key to Calla. "You're in room #102, and so far you don't have a roommate. Have a lovely day!" The woman waved to Calla, who waved back. "You, too!" She called to the woman before bounding out of the Administration building and heading towards the dorm building. So far, this day is going just as I planned it! Calla thought excitedly, looking forward to a new adventure.

Calla soon arrived at the dorm building, brimming with excitement. She was so eager to start school! She arrived at the dorm building, and pushed open the door with her foot, her hands full of map and checklist, with the key to her dorm in between her teeth. She quickly entered and went to the female side of the building, searching for her room number. Once she found it, she couldn't figure out how to open the door with her hands full. She knocked on the neighboring dorm, room #101, and hoped it would be occupied so someone could come help her. "Hello? I need help!" She exclaimed, muffled, waiting for someone to answer the door she had knocked on with her foot.

I jerk my hand back and take my cigerette from my mouth, opening the door.

A young girl stood outside, her hands full of papers.

"Oh..kay.." I muttered, taking some of the papers from her. "What's up?" i ask.

John kept his head down as he walked across the campus. He had just left the administration office. The campus was definitely beautiful and there were quite a few people, but he wasn't rushing to make any friends. But it appeared he was going to have a roommate, so that was news. Felix was his name, in room A132

Calla, grateful for the girl's head smiled. "I just had my hands full, I was trying to get into my dorm. And what's up? The ceiling, of course." She chuckled at her own joke before moving towards her dorm room and unlocking it. She left the key in the handle and returned to the girl who had helped her, taking her papers back. "Thank you for helping me. I'm Calla, and I'm right next door!" She said, beaming happily. She was so excited for today, she forgot about her shyness around people she didn't know.

I smiled back,a rare occurance for me.

"I'm Marie." I put the cigerette back in my mouth and offered my hand.

"You wanna go boy scouting around campus or something?" I ask, using the term I'd made myself, for checking out guys.

"If that's..not your thing we could go to the chinese place or whatever. My room mates a bit spaced out so I'm not busy.."

Calla bit her lip, pondering the thought of going to search for cute boys. She'd always been pretty lonely...and she wasn't really popular with the girls, but this girl wanted to hang out with her, so that was alright. Calla nodded and responded with, "Sure! "Boy scouting" sounds great." She said with a chuckle. "Just let me drop off my things and I'll be ready to go." Calla hurriedly went into her room and returned to Marie, holding a book in her hand. "I might walk and read, but I'm good at listening while I walk, so you can alert me if there are any cute boys." Calla said with a grin as she held up a book called, "The Giver". It was worn, since it was one of her favorite books, a dystopian novel. The storyline was just...perfect. She's reread it so many times.

I smile and head out, closing my door.

I slap my DONT BLINK hat back on my head and slap my friend on the back playfully,

"Ready PAL!?" I ask, grinning. "Oh god." I cring at myself. "Why did I say pal..forget I said that..

Calla laughed out loud at Marie's verbal accident, and then gasped at her hat. "You watch Doctor Who?!" She squealed happily. "I love that show!" She said, clasping her hands together with her book under her arm. "Well, I guess it's time to go, heh." She said, amused with her own behavior. She walked towards the entrance of the dorm building and held it open for Marie, scanning the surrounding area. "No cute boy in sight yet, ma'am!" Calla saluted jokingly.

I laugh. "Yup. Big geek..don't ask."

Smirking I shove my hands in my pockets as we walk, autumn leaves falling around me,crunching under my feet.

"So what you here for?" i ask. "Like..what are you learning to be?"

"Oh gosh. Um...you're probably going to make fun of me.." Calla fumbled with the tips of her hair, blushing a light pink. Lots of other people wanted to be doctors and engineers who earned a lot of money, but she wanted to follow her passion, which people could peg as weird.

Ash had arrived on campus early in the morning, taking his black 2013 BMW that he had just recently gotten after saving up for almost three years. He had checked in with the dorm assigner, found his dorm, set it up and met his roommate all within the span of four hours. He had nothing else to do with his day so he had made his way out to the courtyard where he found a tree that wasn't surrounded by the peace loving college attendees. He sat down and leaned back against the trunk, pulling his laptop from the bag that had been at his shoulder. He placed it on his lap and pushed it open, entering his password before getting to work on the novel he had begun to write. He was a fan of literature, as if that weren't obvious with the mess of books he kept in his bag at all times, and aspired to write a masterpiece of his own. He didn't have much down, but he was working on it.

The soft autumn breeze chilled his exposed forearms and he decided he probably should have thrown on something else. He was wearing his favorite flannel, which was worn in several spots and much thinner than it had been when he'd first bought it. But, it continued to be his favorite because it was comfortable and went with pretty much everything he owned. A black beanie sat atop his golden brown hair and the sun glinted in his colorful eyes as he remained focused on the task at hand. His fingers flew across the keyboard as he typed, but he often backspaced what he had typed because it wasn't up to par with his standards.

(I lied. This one isn't very long.)

Victor was sitting in his dorm for quite some time after his roommate had left. He seemed like a pretty chill dude and like he would keep to his own, unless prompted to do otherwise. Victor's previous task had been to get his black sheet over his futon and after several moments of struggling, he finally managed it. It was a lot more comfortable now. He had his blanket wadded up in a ball underneath and two pillows along with it for when night came and he decided to sleep. He had set everything else up as well, including one of his favorite paintings ever. He didn't know why he liked Starry Night, he just always had and so it now was hanging on his wall. He hated the no smoking in the dorms rule, especially now since Autumn had arrived and soon enough it would be Winter. He liked the cold, but he didn't want to stand out in it to get his smoke on. No thanks.

He finally got up, grabbing his cigarettes and lighter from his desk and slipping on his vans, before he exited. He moved out of the dorm building and out into the courtyard. He spotted his roommate out sitting against a tree but decided not to approach him, since he seemed pretty focused in on what he was doing. He pursed his lips as he pulled one of his cigs out and placed it between his lips. He lit it and took a deep drag, exhaling the smoke a moment later with the cigarette between his fingers. He never started smoking to look cool or anything. It honestly helped him with stress and it was a lot better than some of the other things he used to do.

I smirk and cock my eyebrow.

:I'm here to try and get a career writing books for chubby faced middle schoolers, yet I smoke, drink,do drugs, and hook up with random stranger..ON A REGULAR BASIS! I won't be- HOLY SHIT HOT GUY!" I shout, pointing under my arm to a guy walking around smoking. If life was a cartoon,my eyes would have turned into hearts right then and there. "Dibs." i say bluntly, still staring

Calla laughed at Marie's sudden outburst, bending over in laughter. "He's all yours..he's not my type." Calla said with a huge grin. She opened her book and began reading it more. "If you want, you can go approach him. I'm going to go to a tree I saw earlier that would be the ideal place to read. Enjoy yourself!" Calla called out as she left her newly made friend. She began walking and reading, heading up the hill. She reached the tree, but she was so absorbed in her book, she didn't notice the guy that was there until she tripped over his feet.

"Gah!" Calla cried out as she fell towards the ground, her glasses falling off and her beanie going askew. Her book flew off to the side and she landed on her elbows, shooting pain up her arms. Ow...what happened? Calla turned to see what she had tripped over, and she saw it was a really gorgeous guy. She immediately blushed a bright red, and began stammering an apology. "I-I'm so sorry!"

"BUT! I DON'T!..okay.." I called hopelessley after my new friend.

I took a deep breath and looked to the guy. "I got this." I said to myself.

I strode up the hill to where he was. "Um.." I stammered,no no think fast!! "Did you know hippo milk is pink!!" I blurted out.

Good job, slow clap for Marie...excuse me while I jump off a cliff.

@Asylumnated

(*is so flattered with all the attention my charas are getting*)

Ash looked up from his laptop only when he felt a jerky motion on his feet and then heard a surprised yelp, followed by a thud. He shifted his laptop to the side and quirked his eyebrow at the girl in question. "No worries," He told her with a friendly smile as he leaned forward some to grab for her glasses. He handed them to her, with that same smile still on his lips. "Were you coming here to read? It's pretty peaceful, huh," He questioned as he raised both eyebrows at her. He took note of her blush, but didn't say anything. No point in embarrassing her anymore.

"Are you alright," He asked with a little tilt of his head, a small concerned frown working it's way onto his face as he looked at her. "If your elbows are all torn up, I've got some bandaids in my bag," He told her and grabbed for the black, leather bag and he began digging through it. He took out several books to make the search for bandaids easier and soon enough he produced the white and blue box, opening it and taking out a few.

Victor had heard a girl shout something about a hot guy, but paid no mind to it as he sat down on a stone bench. He found it funny that it didn't have a backrest but he didn't want to walk so he had sat. He flicked some of his ashes off onto the ground and looked up upon hearing something about hippo milk being pink. His eyebrows raised in surprise at the girl and he took a drag before thinking of a response. Weird animal facts. Nice. "Did you know that Oysters can change their gender multiple times in their life," He asked after he had exhaled the smoke.

He was slightly smirking up at her. She looked nervous, though for what reason he didn't know, so he was trying to make her feel better.

Mental Note:I'M GOING TO HELL!

Smiling I sat down. "Did you know there is a type of fish that is born a girl, but becomes a man over time,or vice versa?"

MARIE IS NOT AN IDIOT EVERYONE!

I pushed some of my hair from my face and smiled to myself.

( xD lol heh)

Calla, flustered, grabbed her glasses from him with a nod and fixed her beanie, her face still red. "I-I was, yeah. But I don't want to bother you..I'm sorry." She immediately got up, ignoring the stinging pain coming from her elbows. She didn't want to trouble this guy any more than she already had. "I-I'm alright, no need to worry." She noticed the books he had pulled out of his bag and looked quite surprised. She hadn't pegged this guy as a reader, and some of those books were actually really good ones. "Y-you have good taste in books, by the way." She said quickly, before backing up a bit. "Well, I'll be off. Sorry for tripping over you again. I was just a bit absorbed." Calla explained, gesturing to her book.

"Did you know all clownfish are born male, and will only change sex to become a dominant female," He asked upon hearing her next fact. He took another drag and held the smoke in for a bit, watching her from the corner of his eye. This was a... special encounter. He had never spouted facts with random strangers before but it wasn't a bad thing. It was actually quite interesting. He exhaled again and snubbed out his cigarette, leaving the butt on the sidewalk.

Ash shook his head. "It's not a bother. The tree is the property of all students," He said light heartedly and patted the spot beside him. "Sit," He insisted. He caught a glimpse of her elbow and gave her a slight look. "You're fine, now sit and we'll get those elbows sorted out," He offered and scooted over a bit so that she had more room to sit. "Thanks. You're reading The Giver? Good book," He commented with a slight smile. Books were a passion of his and he was open to them all. He especially liked dystopian novels and had read The Giver several times over.

"Did you know." I begin after picking up your butt and throwing it in the trash. "Female seahorses are imprenated, then transfer the babies to the male, who gives birth to them." I smirk and light my own cig, relaxing slightly now.

"You've read it?" Calla's face instantly lit up with a smile, and she sat beside the guy, plopping down carefully so as to not bump into him once more. She stuck her arms out, offering her elbows for inspection. "Guess I can't get these past ya. If only I wore long sleeves. Then maybe I would've hidden it better." Casks half joked, then noticed his laptop and couldn't help but read a little. "Are you writing a story?" She asked, smiling shyly as she waited for his response.

"As a matter of fact, I did know that," Victor replied with a slight smile as he crossed his ankles over each other. "So, your first year here," He asked, eager to know more about this new person. He wanted to know why she had approached him aswell, but he would save those questions for later. His lips pressed into a tight line as he observed the other people. He pulled out his phone as he felt it go off and smirked slightly at the messages before shoving his phone back in his pocket. One of his booty-calls looking to get antsy.

~-~-~-~-~-~

Ash nodded eagerly. "I don't know anybody who hasn't," He said with a charming smile as she sat down. He set the bandaids on his thigh, moving his laptop to sit between then, before he took one of her elbows and examined it. He pulled the bandaid open with one hand and his teeth and he pressed it to the small scrape resting there. "No point in hiding it when there's willing help," He told her, flicking his eyes to her before he placed another bandaid on the same elbow before moving to her next arm. "Yeah. It's going slow, but it'll be done one day," He told her.
