Cyberpunk thingy I'm working on.

Soviet Panda

Red Panda Commanda.
Roleplay Type(s)
As stated, I'm working on it. This is a place for me to put my ideas down and debate if they are good or not. This is a me thing. You can still give out suggestions if you feel like it, but I might ignore them. You have been warned.

Genre: Futuristic/Cyberpunk.

Antagonist(s): Monopoly CEO. Mafia Don.

Antagonist Motives: Mafia Don, money/power, clichè things. CEO, terminally ill(?) and searching for a cure. Mind is slowly going but is to powerful to be removed.

Setting: Earth has gone to shit. Basically one large city.

Tech: Implants. No lasers/plasma. Ballistics have improved, smaller things can pack more. Holograms are used widely, but cell phones and phones are still common place.

Plot: The Megacity is being run by several buisnesses, headed by the antagonist CEO. Rich are favored above others, creating a parge divide. Rich hire goons, and a general increase in crime follows. Black market flourishes, cops and law enforcement in general is poor if it exists at all. Protagonists are various.

Protagonist motivation(s): There will be a rebel faction, uses guerilla tactics. They want to cut the metaphorical 'head of the snake' clean off. They can also hire mercenaries, but not likely.

I suggest more direction. Outline a reason for the players of various backgrounds to come together. They want upfront a channel where their characters can be proactive.

Thank you for saying that. I was mostly getting the antagonist and world set up. And you can see how far I got with that. I shall put protagonist motivation(s).

Perhaps the protagonists can be doing a raid against a bank ir something at the beginning. After that, focus on character interactions and development. Or vise versa.

Good start, keep going. This is the area that will really fish in your players. Just one rebel faction or a coalition of loosely aligned rebel groups? I like the latter, it would open up more options for your players and introduce a political element immediately at character creation.

The more you detail the rebels, the more the conflict solidifies.

I like the second idea better as well. I will work in organizations later.

Organizations:

All Co.: Antagonist's corporation. Name is liable to change.

Angels: One of the rebel factions, focuses mostly on hit and run. Most have implants that improve movement. Ie double jump and faster running speed.

The Six: Perhaps the most balanced. Said to have originally been started by six people. Implants are more often balanced. One of the rebel factions.

Locos: Bigger is better. Implants often help them lift the ridiculously sized guns they are known for. One of the rebel factions.

Turtles: compared to the Locos, they are the exact opposite. They are basically walking shields. Rebel faction.

The Don: The name of the group and leader. Hired by the CEO. They claim to be independant, but are now mostly the arm of All Co.

I have a lot of ideas for the above if you're interested. If not no biggie.

Great. Btw, you won't hurt my feelings if you don't like my suggestions.

The Angels: I want more, I want fresh. What if instead of just implants they use special "jump suits" (or angel suits?). Powerful magnets implanted into their feet and hands allow them to crawl up skyscrapers like spiders. And when they're high enough they disengage and leap...Thankfully a special membrane that spans from wrist to ankle unfolds in midair and lets them glide to the next building. A faction that could basically "flying squirrel" around your city.

Their tech could be from their founder — an adventurous engineer who wanted to moonlight as a well-equipped cat burglar. Maybe spice up the name "Angels" too.

The Locos: These guys can be the scaries. I'm picturing Mad Max post apoc warriors. Scrap armor, scrap battle wagons, topped off with muscle enhancing implants and drugs. They can recruit fresh releases from the city's main prison as well as hold "auditions" from the nastiest street gangs. These barbarians don't play well with others but have conceded it's in their best interest to join into the rebel alliance.

The Turtles: I don't care for them. TBH it's a bit of a lame name and their concept isn't appetizing either. I would switch them out for a less combat oriented faction. Maybe a zealous environmental faction, a punk rock hacker group, or a artificial intelligence worshipping cult. Something to give the more experimental players a group to fall into.

I've got more ideas (bigger actually) for The Six and All Co., but I'll see wait and see if you still want me to write those up.

We pictured the Locos as the same. Turtles, I wanted a, for lack of a better term, tank. Angels, perfect. Move fast, etc. etc. Names are probably prone to change. Makes sense that there should be a hacker group. Turtles will change to that. Name wise, Turtles will change, and so will the Angels. Locos has grown on me, so that will not change.

Side effects of drugs, if they are used and they probably are. Large and random bouts of aggression, poor judgement. After prolonged and repeated use, slowly eats away at the mind slowly making side effects permanent.

Possible name changes for the Angels. Black Sun, not likely. Moon Walkers? Sounds better, plays off of the cat burgler thing.

Turtles: Change name to Moles? No, not that. Um... I'm drawing a blank. Friends. That's it. Little smiley face stays behind when they hack something. A signature piece of coding saying who did it. They plug right in to the internet, like in the Matrix, and Shadow Runner if you know about it.

The Six: There's not a lot there, but I like the "balanced" idea for this faction. I kept that in mind as I went further. I changed their name to Free Arc, it has more significance. The idea is that inside the greater city (which you need to name) an arcology was built. A sprawling elevated compound that would house a population of people equaling a small city/large town (100k). Originally the arcology, previously named New Olympia, was corporately owned. It was designed to be a safe community for their middle and upper middle management.

But immediately after it's opening charismatic revolutionaries began to make major inroads into New Olympias' leadership. Corporate ties started to unravel. Protest marches and rallies spread throughout the arcology against the tyranny of the city and it's megacorps. A group of consuls were elected to represent the arcology, and the first action taken by the representatives was to declare their people free and autonomous. The Free Arc was born.

Their people come from all walks of life; teachers, cybernetic surgeons, drone mechanics, freight pilots, corporate security, and more. Of course now after their declared independence they've found themselves in a constant state of battle — which has shaped the population. The city and the megacorps constantly plague the Free Arc, which they view as a cancer, with strike team raids and trade blockades. The Free Arc, for all intents and purposes, is the command center for the rebel alliance.

I love arcologies and I saw an opportunity here. Let me know what you think.

I had to google Arcology and like their concept. And I want to work everything out first, then give them all names. Just makes sense to me. All co. Will probably change in the future, and a name will be given to the greater city.

I'm gonna caution against the core concept for a faction being 'tank', even if you did decide to introduce a mechanical element to give the word meaning.

Otherwise enjoying what you two are doing here. May chime in, here and there.

Names for the city. I could be super lazy and call it Metropolis. But, again, that's if I'm super lazy. Umm... I could name it after a greek god. Perhaps Zeus, or the roman equivalent Jupiter. Kronus? Or I could name it after a god from a different mythology. Bast, Ra, Osiris, Horus, Loki, Odin, Thor, Freja. Valkyre (spell that right for me, on Ipod) perhaps? Valkyre city, the city of Valkyre. "Valkyre will finally be free." No, it doesn't sound right. It could be ironic, "Zeus will be free." The king of the gods, imprisoned, or in this case enslaved.

Ok, names in general I'm not good at. I'll come up with something eventually, but it will take a while. Antagonists name, let me see. Jarvis? No, he's not the trusted butler. Jhonson Corely? Yes, that sounds like a buisness man name. I already have a pretty solid image for how he is going to look, so no worries there. The name All co. has to change, it was only a place holder. But I want everyone to get the feel that they have their fingers in everything. What was the name of the company in 'The Other Guys'?

Ok, full disclosure: I was working on the name and details of the main antagonist corporation yesterday, and I was so pleased with what I came up with that I decided to...shelve it all for an RP of my own down the road.

That's typical me. I'll continue to help with suggestions and questions though.

You'd think I'd be mad. But it's quiet the opposite. I actually chuckled a little. No worries, come up with it when you can.

Ok, should I make the thing Detailed, or casual? I'm not going to require three+ paragraphs, but I don't want people to be lazy either and make characters that were orphaned, saw their parents die, and swore revenge or some such super clichè thing. Casual for writting, but state in the CS to put some effort into it. I try to work with people, so if it is not up to par I can ask them to change it. I know how it can be hard not to be clichè, so I can be lenient with some things. And I'm willing to work with people as long as they put in the effort to change.

Possible names for the company. Precision Robotics. Horizon Industries, "Working for your tomorrow." That one is a definate maybe. Let's see here. Improve, "Improve body, improve your soul." Sells mass produced implants. Has it's fingers in medicine, car production, everything. Another maybe.

It sounds like your RP will be comfortable with the "casual" tag. If you want to increase your player/post quality then maybe not make it first come, first serve. A lot of issues get worked out simply by being selective and only accepting the better character sheets.

Alright. I will keep that in mind when I get it going.

I have setteled the name of the city to be Zeus. Now, time for that darned evil co.

Improve is tge only thing coming to mind for the corrupt company. Antagonist shall be called... Xander Tuet. Yes, I like that one. Am I missing anything? Have the name for everything, I'm sure, a plot, and setting. We all good?

Yes, I do believe everything is sorted out. And I knkw this whole section isn't meant fkr recruiting, but Bone, I wouldn't feel right if I didn't at least give you the option of joining. So, I'll post a link to the recruitment thread when I can.

Alright, here is the recruitment thread. Thank you for helping me. Unless I pulled the trigger a bit to soon on this, or forgot something, and have made a powerful mistake that could ruin everything.
