Other Beginnings
Welcome to this quest! It is inspired by the Nasuverse portrayal of the Arthurian legend but is original in the sense that a lot of the stuff we see in Fate won't happen here because I decide that way-no discussion-let's get to it!

What to expect:
-- Cool magic and shit.
-- Chivalry and virtue.
-- Merlin being a troll.
-- Combat and medieval politics to some degree.
-- And a lot of other stuff.
-- Dice rolls when I can't decide stuff that may or may not be affected by your stats.

Now, pick adventure you will be playing, the module you will be using, as well as difficulty. I want to point out: Don't be swayed by the implications of some of the adventures' names and descriptions. Trust me when I say all of them are almost equally interesting, and some might, in-fact, seem completely uninteresting but they are actually better than the rest. This choice is crucial and you shouldn't let your judgment be clouded by things like "because that seems to be the best choice."

  1. The Path of the Servant. You are but a mere servitor, a serf. But your master... he's on another level. He is a Knight of the Round Table, but which one? That is the question.
    What to expect: Being insulted and pushed around (because you're a filthy peasant,) in varying degrees depending on your master, growing into an important person over time, being overpowered once you mature, a more fresh and interesting story than the below, a very relatable protagonist.
  2. The Path of Pretty Flowers. Lilies, but also peons! And they all smell niceu-aru! Ahh~~... so pretty and pink like my room's wallpaper!! Tee-hee~!!
    What to expect: Nothing at all. This path is a surprise to be taken only by the brave and adventurous. You shouldn't know what to expect.
  3. The Path of the Once and Future King. You are the chosen King of Britain and its Promised Ruler. The one who will pull out the sword out of the stone. You are Arthur Pendragon.
    What to expect: Lots of chivalry, unless you decide to go for the "Tyrant King" route, having lots of internal disputes and argues with the Knights of the Round Table that you need to keep in charge, being overpowered once you mature.
  4. The Path of the Knight of Treachery. You are the High King's son, and your mother, the Queen of Londinium also happens to be an evil witch who appears to be using you for her evil plans. How delightful.
    What to expect: Tough choices, having more intrigue available to you, and being overpowered once you mature.
  5. The Path of New Horizons. Write-in an idea for a path. Be reasonable, we can't play a hippogriff. And it will take some time for me to apply my own characters and ideas if you go overboard, too.
Module Settings:
  1. [Recommended] Fate: All stats and skills are ranked from E to A, A+, A++, A+++ and finally EX. Skills are more general.
  2. Fate-F Grade: All stats and skills are ranked from F to A, A+, A++, A+++ and finally EX. Skills are more general.
  3. Fate-Alter: All stats and skills are ranked from E to A, A+, A++, A+++ and finally EX. Skills and traits make a wider appearance.
  4. Fate-Alter: F Grade: All stats and skills are ranked from F to A, A+, A++, A+++ and finally EX. Skills and traits make a wider appearance.
  5. [Less Recommended, but still] Fate/Heresy: Everything is ranked from 1 to 100+, with 60 being the barrier for peak-human skill. Skills and traits are wide and are split into three dynamic states of (Untrained) and (Trained) and (Trained+[number]) that affect checks.
Difficulty Settings: (Remember that the last 3 are only applicable to the 3rd Path.)
  1. Super Easy: Bonus to all rolls. Enemies are easier to defeat.
  2. Easy: Small bonus to all rolls. Enemies are easier to defeat.
  3. Default: Normal difficulty. Britain, or as sailors call it; Albion, is just as challenging as it should be.
  4. Hard: Small penalty to all rolls.
  5. Very Hard: Small penalty to all rolls. Enemies are harder to defeat.
  6. Once and Future King: Penalty to all rolls. Enemies are harder to defeat. You can't use Excalibur at full power if you pick the Path of the Once and Future King. Other paths receive different penalties unique to them.
  7. Once and Future King+: As above, but twice as severe.
  8. Rebellion Against My Beautiful Father: As above, but more severe. In addition, all Knights of the Round Table join Mordred in his rebellion regardless of prior relationships. Only Merlin remains loyal.
  9. Rebellion Against That Little Fucker: As above, but Merlin is also a traitor, because fuck tyranny. (I'm implying you have to be a tyrant to survive this difficulty, which is both a challenge and a valid statement to y'all fuckers reading this.)
  10. Arthur/Mordred/You Must Die: As above, but you choose one person to remain loyal other than Mordred, Agravain, or Lancelot. In addition, more severe roll penalties.

The Path of the Knight of Treachery

But only if we're best girl, not best guy.

If that's not the case, then

The Path of the Servant.

Difficulty?

Hard

Type?

FAAAATTTTEEE.

So either 'Path of the Knight of Treachery if we're Female Mordred...or Path of the Servant if we're not.

Edit: Okay. I'll list this coherently.

Path of the Knight of Treachery -> Only if we're the best girl, obviously. Because we all love Saber.

Difficulty for above - > Once and Future King. Good novel, and the reference is top-notch. We're going hardcore mode.

Type - > Fate.

Path of the Servant - > If we don't want to do Knight of Treachery

Difficulty - > Once and Future King. Still.

Type - > Fate

You get to choose whether you're a girl or a guy.

Type of character:

5. Well I kinda have two types.

One is The Conqueror. This person is the newly appointed general of an army, Mostly recruits and you along with some others are tasked with the goal of Conquering Britain! Most likely from France.

Or We can go with Rebellious Peasant. Basically we don't like the way the country is going. So our character tries to start a Peasant rebellion in which we take over the country. Obviously our main force in the beginning are peasants but that'll be upgraded over time.

These are more just general stuff like there is mostly room for you to expound upon here Birdsie Birdsie but the general idea kinda has to stay, if people like one of my two ideas.

Module settings:

Fate: it's Rcommended so I guess I'll go for this one.

Difficulty:
Default cause I don't want penalties or buffs just straight up on every roll. We should get buffs or penalties for our strengths and weaknesses.

Agree with Ciphrus. We shall play best girl Mordred. Also agree with Type Fate. But we should do it on normal difficulty.

Okay, I'll do it like this.
I'll wait for either Gabriel or Lancelot to vote on either Mordred or Archdemon's ideas, and we'll see who wins. As unfitting of a typical Arthurian quest in the Nasuverse that Archdemon's ideas are, they are original and interesting. Mostly because it is kind of obvious that we won't conquer Britain for shit with Arthur as king, due to Excalibur's power. That being said, it would be amusing to try and fail and then have Arthur commend us for our resolve, and then have Mordred execute us for rebelling against the "perfect king."

Choices: Path of the Best Girl, Fate Module, Default difficulty

The difficulty may be changed at any time.

Remember: Choices have consequences.
Note: If you feel like cheating, then there will sometimes be invisible text over choices that tells you the outcomes of choices.

"Mooordreeed!"

The chilling scream reaches you as you bite into the pear you stole. You recognize the voice perfectly. It was the chef. "Mooooordreeed!" he yells again.

You did it again. You raided the pantry. You went into the kitchen and ate a loaf of bread, but then you thought: 'I can do better than this.' The situation you are currently in is, to put it simply, the outcome of having that thought. This is not good. This situation is the very definition of not good. Who knows what he'll have you do as punishment?

You look back and see him. Chef Maximilian, the head cook, and the man whose kitchen supplies you have been borrowing without asking ever since Gawain showed you how to open the kitchen door's busted lock without a key.

"Crap," you ran in the opposite direction. Maximilian was a burly guy, but a hefty one. Didn't lack muscle, but didn't lack the fat either. He could probably lift you effortlessly with one hand. The one thing he lacked was agility, so you were confident you could run away and lose him in the labyrinth of corridors in the castle.

...

You run up the stairs, but the relentless, bearded man doesn't quite yield to his stamina yet.

You run left around the corner and find yourself in a dead end. The hall ends with no other path, although there are 4 sets of doors to your left and right. "Mordred, in here!" a helping hand pulls you into one of the rooms and closes the door.

"Mordred, where are you?! You thieving scamp! Your mother will know about this." You hear several footsteps, then Maximilian walks away.

"Pheeew," you exclaim. You look at your supposed savior. It is Gaheris, your older sister and the only girl among the siblings other than you. You are the youngest of the five siblings. It goes in this order: Gawain, Agravain, Gaheris, Gareth, and you; Mordred. You are the youngest of the children and probably the last to the throne as well, but you don't really mind.

"Thanks, sis!" Your hand lands on Gaheris' shoulder, hitting her several times. "Mordred." Gaheris gives you that look. The look of a disappointed older sister. "Why did you steal the pear?"

As you ponder on the answer to her question, you bite into the fruit. You respond whilst munching on it. "I was hungry," you said. Gaheris' jaw dropped and she just stared at you for a few seconds. You stared back with an innocent smile, unaware that what you did was wrong. You gave the pear another bite, then Gaheris got angry and wrestled the pear out of your hand before throwing it out of the window.

"Hey!" You yell annoyedly. "What's that for?"

Gaheris merely smiled at you, almost blinding you with her shining teeth. She was a bit pretty, actually. Flowing blonde hair, beautiful blue eyes comparable to lakes, and her dress really matched her face. "Please, wait for dinner next time." Gaheris pat you on the head, scurrying your hair to left and right. "Also, go and apologize to Max," she said while exiting the room. Speaking of which, you were in your own bedroom. How did you not recognize the corridor? Huh.

Should you heed her lesson?
  1. Go and apologize to Maximilian. (Mordred is humble, nice, and polite.)
  2. He's a peasant! Peasants should get used to you being better than them. (Mordred is proud, haughty, and rude.)
~~~~
You sit down at the long table. To your left is Gareth, eating his soup with a spoon hungrily and quickly. He was moving rapidly, almost as if he were to die should his hands stop. To your right is Gaheris, eating her meal in a much more profound way, making sure to keep to the proper etiquette. To the left of Gareth sat Agravain, and to his left Gawain. Then your mother and father; King Lot and Queen Morgana Le Fay. Mother was a bit creepy at times, you don't really talk to her often. She always wears a piece of cloth that covers her face and sits down to eat very rarely.
Lot, on another hand, is an old man. His hair is slowly graying, and his face grows a new wrinkle every day. At this rate, he'll need servants to help him get out of bed.
Still. It is dinner. You help yourself to a bit of bread and eat your soup.
How do you eat it?
  1. You're hungry. Eat it quickly, like Gareth. (Mordred doesn't conform to social norms.)
  2. You're hungry, but etiquette is important. Eat like big sister! (Mordred tries to behave properly in public.)
~~~~

You look at Gawain anxiously.

Swish-swoosh!

You take four, rapid steps back, losing your balance as his wooden training sword flies past your face in two wide arcs. "Come on! Rise your sword! Protect yourself, Mordred! And keep your balance. Legs wider!"

You quickly compose yourself again. His blade flies toward you... Clink! The two wooden swords collide as he delivers another blow. They give off a satisfying clanging sound, but the energy from the blow runs through the blade and into your hands, dispersing in them, and kind of hurting your hands a bit. They're numb from all this training by now. "Okay, enough for now. Let's take a break, shall we?"
  1. Ask your brother to train you more. You can endure the pain. (Mordred is eager to fight, improve, and taste the blades of other combatants. A more reckless Mordred.)
  2. Indeed, better take a break now. (Mordred is reasonable, calm, calculating, and generally smarter. The cold and calculating traitor.)
~~~~
Morgana looked at you. "You must act like a boy, Mordred. You are a man, do you understand?"
  1. Embrace masculinity.
  2. Embrace feminity.
1. No pain, no gain. We are to become a great knight are we not? We have no time for breaks!
We should study 1, 3 and 8.
Our social focuses should be 3, 5 and 8 (stay away from mother!)
What about gender?
I want to point out the way that stats work is like this:
E - Far below average for a human.
D - Below average for a human.
C - Average for a human.
B - Above average for a human.
A - Peak-human.
A+ - Slightly paranormal.
A++ - Blatantly supernatural.
A+++ - Godlike.
EX - Immeasurable.
A plus or minus on any stat or skill other than one ranked A simply means it is a bit worse or a bit better than the letter describing it.
(Interesting choices. This all means we'll get a Mordred who is about as reckless and energetic as the original, but much nicer and less disdainful/prideful.)
Your mother was always right. You are a man, first and foremost. Only a man can be a knight, which proves that you were born in the wrong gender. At that moment, when the witch that you call mother explained this to you, there was no other choice but to embrace the inner masculinity. Ever since you were young, when someone called you a girl, you threw a tantrum and tried to fight them. Eventually, even your siblings came to accept that this is how it is, and you were referred to as a boy ever since. You are ashamed of your feminine posture.
Other than that, you grew up to be a fairly polite boy. Your relationship with the chef improved and you stopped stealing food.
However, to the naked eye, you seemed more... beastly than most. You lacked the proper etiquette and behavior of someone of royalty.
But that didn't stop you from being determined. You were always eager to get up after Gawain beat you up, and he complimented that spirit in you.
~~~~

You grew closer with Gawain and Gaheris, but your other brothers still eluded you. Still, Gawain, as the oldest of your brothers was always nice to you. He would train with you when you asked him to do so, and always found some time to hang out. Gaheris was similar, she was almost as skilled as Gawain and always acted properly. She gave you an example to follow and although you didn't absorb her etiquette and impeccable manners, you still became a humble, gentle child thanks to her. Agravain and Gareth weren't as talkative, but interaction with them was unavoidable.

And finally, your curriculum.

One of the first things you learned was combat, more exactly, melee combat. You learned the theory; how to hold a sword, spear, or even axe and mace. How to position yourself and keep the right distance from the opponent, and where to strike depending on whether they wear armor or not. Your teacher in these arts was Gawain, who was said to be among the best fighters in Londinium. Although you have the theory in your fingertip, there is still a lot of practice before you master the arts of melee combat.

Then came strategy. Military thinking and planning. You learned the arts of military procedure and approaching the battle with troops at your side. Where to position them and what kind of troops counter what. You learned why swords are poor against heavily armored targets and why maces do better against them, and why it is exactly the contrary against lightly armored ones. You also played numerous tactical board games with Gawain, Gaheris, and Agravain in your spare time, it did not seem like Gareth was into that kind of stuff but Agravain loved it.

And the last four months of the year you spent studying under Count Elemor who was your father's vassal and a close ally of the family. He and his knights taught you how to properly manage your lands in the future, how to control serfs, lead armies with charisma and intelligence, and achieve success through mathematics and logistics. Although the knowledge he gave you quickly left through your ears, like a fall of water, he was very understanding and invited you to learn more should you have time in the future.

By the end of it, you have completed one step on your long, arduous journey to become a knight. Overall, it was a well-spent year of obtaining knowledge. What should you learn next year? Pick 3 focuses.
  1. Melee combat.
    1. Ordinary melee combat.
    2. Swordsmanship.
  2. Ranged combat.
  3. Strategy & Tactics.
  4. Magecraft.
    1. Ordinary thaumaturgy.
    2. Mana Burst.
    3. Resistance.
  5. Riding & Taming.
  6. Diplomacy.
  7. Reading & Writing.
  8. Logistics and management.
  9. Etiquette.
  10. Art, including painting and singing.
  11. Piety.
  12. Write-in.

Also, no social focuses this time because of a... uhm... well, specific circumstance.

But that didn't stop you from being determined. You were always eager to get up after Gawain beat you up, and he complimented that spirit in you.
