guidelines
~ honestly, just copy & paste the sheet. no need for special decoration, redoing it, etc. however, filling out everything in full lowercase is a choice, not a requirement. personally, i just like to do so, though my posts will have proper capitalization.

~ be sure to do the part in the second spoiler - it's important!

~ post your character in the ooc first, pinging both myself and draco - since roles are limited, we want this to be fair, and not just do a first-come-first-serve.

~ below this you'll find the species descriptions & roles, so be sure to check that out.

~ any "actual" age for vamps is unnecessary - we'll act under the assumption that it's around whatever their age is when squared. (example; an 18 year old would be assumed to be around 324 years old, give or take several years. not very interested in the science of vampire aging, so we'll just assume it's slow, haha.)

~ the first half of a pair will determine any "requirements" for the second half - such as male, female, masculine, feminine, n/a, etcetera. if you have any questions, hit me up! I'll be happy to answer.

role here
n a m e ; first and last

a g e ; seventeen to eighteen, if you'd please!
p r o n o u n s ; he/him, she/her, they/them (< examples)
o r i e n t a t i o n ; you know the drill (specifying both romantic & sexual is not required)
b i o ;

minimum of two relevant paragraphs, include some personality (don't separate into another category, express it in the bio! the role should give you an idea of where to start.)
(put a reasonably sized picture in a spoiler, centered. realistic faceclaims only)
also include height && eye colour, thank you!!
within a spoiler, right here, just like this, write a post of your character arriving on thursday or friday the week before (so aug 31 or sep 1) to settle into their dorm. this is where you can talk about how they feel about either a (if you're a vampire) having to hook up with a human to restore your family's honour or b (if you're a human) receiving this top-notch scholarship to a fancy-schmancy boarding school for a talent you didn't even realize could get you a scholarship to the school. remember, humans don't know why they're really here at sanguine academy, but the vampires know why they've been brought in. there's other humans at the school, too, but they're not on scholarships like the... fresh meat.

this is pretty much our shortcut to the actual start of the roleplay, which is the first day of classes. it gives you guys a chance to express your character's feelings and opinions on what's going on related to the plot, while keeping the bio section reasonable. so this is more "current events" than the bio, which is just one big summary. basically an extra expansion on the bio, but in the form of a post!

the council
when one refers to "the council", it is most often in reference to one's local council. a local council is in charge of a certain area of land - for example, in the united states, there are eight councils, each responsible for a different portion of the country. this is split by time zones, and then by north and south. depending on the country, the division of councils may be different. they act as the governing body for that area, and may sometimes be called in to help another council. any family involved in the council is an aristocrat, and in the event that a family is removed from the council, they must appeal to the high council to re-enter the aristocratic circle in any location.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
the high council
the only power above the local councils is the high council - they are the true elders of the vampire community on an international scale. they act as an international governing body, and may be called in to mediate during council disputes or in the case of laws being broken that cannot be properly addressed by the council. the high council is responsible for locating blood donors, and help retain the secrecy behind it by withholding information on donors and other phenomena from the council. whereas the council is made up of aristocrats, the high council is made up of royalty. in less secretive dealings, the high council cannot take action without approval from any local councils involved.

the academy
sanguine academy has a long-standing history for being one of the most prestigious private schools founded by vampires. named for the blood red colour (and therefore found offensive by some humans who have realized such), the school colours are steel gray and, you guessed it - sanguine. as a private school, the tuition is rather high, and most students come from a vampire background. some humans, however, have the necessary funds to send their children to the academy as well. on rare occasions, one may find themselves with a scholarship.

the school uniform is relatively simple, consisting of a jet black button-up, sanguine tie, steel gray jacket, and either steel gray pants, or a steel gray skirt. shoes should be jet black to match the shirt. these uniform essentials - apart from the shoes - are provided by the academy. for students who are attending on a scholarship, shoes can either be provided, or an allowance to purchase them can be provided. while the uniform is required to be worn during class hours, students are permitted to wear their own clothing after class and on weekends.

on a case-by-case basis, students are allowed to leave the campus. for instance, if a student is not heading home for the holidays, they are permitted to leave the campus during the day if they agree to have a "security duty", so to speak. otherwise, any trips off of the campus require either parental permission and agreement to be monitored. (the academy retains its right to refuse a trip off of the campus, however.)
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
the dormitories
as a boarding school, sanguine academy offers only the finest of living spaces for their students, an entire building consisting of three stories dedicated to the dormitories. a student does not have the option to live off-campus, unless medical reasons do not permit dorm life, in which case arrangements can be made. there are three heads to the dormitories, each one in charge of a different floor. they live on that floor along with the students, and are available at any hour. (even if the look on their face says otherwise, should you wake them.)

the first floor of the dormitories is dedicated to general living space. there are tvs and charging stations (there just aren't enough outlets to expect people to huddle by the walls), couches, chairs, loveseats, and beanbags, and even a few folding tables. this is where most of the entertainment and relaxing happens, and is definitely not the place to try and do your homework, no matter what an upperclassman tells you. the head of this floor is mrs. evans, a kind woman who appears to be in her mid-thirties, and acts as the home-away-from-home mother of the dorms. unlike the other two dorm heads, she isn't a teacher - she's the school's nurse. she's "dr. evans" during school hours, and "mrs. evans" at all other times.

the second floor of the dormitories is dedicated to rooms for the ninth and tenth grade students, and the third flood is dedicated to rooms for the eleventh and twelfth grade students. on each floor, there is a (decently sized) room with a full bathroom (jack & jill style), that is assigned to a kitchen shared with several other students whose rooms are also near it. when assigning rooms, the staff typically places humans with other humans, though exceptions can be made if requested by all students involved are in agreement. otherwise, assignments are random, and any problems can be brought up with the dorm head. the head of the second floor is mr. evans, who is otherwise known as the chemistry teacher (and dr. evans's husband). the head of the third floor is professor douglas, who teaches world literature and runs the school's performing arts building.

humans
humans, in general, are just like we all know and love. fleshy creatures with a strong, insatiable curiosity and thirst for danger. vampires are no exception to that odd desire, either. their society as a whole is rather untouched by vampires but most advancements in science and technology are credited to the "superior" species, who really just have a greater deal of time on their hands to deal with such problems. despite the systematic oppression, humans know what the problem here really is - they are, at the most basic of levels, prey. fortunately, their government, when not concerning vampires, is led solely by humans, and is free of vampiric influence. you know what really sucks, though?
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
vampires
vampires. much like the man behind the curtain, they've taken the burden of earth upon their shoulders, humans and all. no one really knows where vampires came from; how they started, why they started, when they first appeared... it's all a mystery. in fact, that's what the councils prefer. remaining shrouded ensures the safety and survival of their race, and if a little blood has to be spilled along the way, they're not going to complain. most vampires are born, whether to two vampires or a vampire and a human, in which either way the end result is always the same. humans can be turned, though typically only aristocrats are known to do such. it's advertised as a great honour to be chosen and accepted to be turned, but most humans would disagree. in fact, there's a group out there who really has it out for the vampires that so painstakingly work to ensure the survival of the planet and its inhabitants, and it's easy to guess who they are.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
vampire hunters
vampire hunters. a group that consists of both vampires and humans, though you'll never find a vampire outspoken enough to admit they prefer to hunt their own kind, and not for blood, either. no, this group - whose success has been minimal, admittedly - seeks to "level the playing field" so to speak, though the vast difference in lifespans leaves a number of results to be desired. for the most part, hunters are quiet about their movement, and don't really hunt vampires - it's just catchier to be called such, you know? it's still murder if you kill a vampire, and no one wants to go on trial for that. really, they're just out to try and even out the power imbalance, though it's a little difficult when you're against an older, more experienced, hypersensitive species. have they told you lately how good you smell?
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
quick donor facts
~ being a "blood donor" isn't hereditary, and isn't something found in the other family members. it's what makes their "blood" unique!
~ typically, a donor with a "desirable trait" as it's called, embodies the "trait" in some way, though there's a test the high council uses to determine whether or not someone is a donor for sure.
~ while donors do stand out, it's not enough to cause alarm among the populace, and at times, a donor can't be told apart from someone who isn't one. (hence some mystical test.) as an example, someone might be extremely friendly, making them popular - but they may not be a donor, and rather, are just someone who is very friendly.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
quick vampire facts
~ vampires seem to age pretty slowly - they're not immortal, and age faster after they hit thirty, but to humans who only live one hundred years, it can certainly seem like vampires live forever.
~ vampires obtain most of their nutrition from human blood, though regular food can be just as enjoyable. it just doesn't contain all of the nutrients they need, and a vampire who tries to live off of food instead of blood finds themselves in an early grave.
~ vampires do have an allergy to sunlight, though in the 20th century, a sunblock was finally developed that reflected the majority of the sun's harmful rays on a level that did more than just prevent sunburn. without it, a vampire is looking at third degree burns from sunlight, even if it's a cloudy day. a daily lotion is also available to help boost their protection, though rather than be applied in the morning, it's applied at night, to give it time to be absorbed.

the weak link
this aristocrat's family used to be strong and proud - they didn't bow to anyone. these days, however, they're getting walked over constantly. no longer reliable or capable, their family is looking at removal from the council for failing to take charge like they used to. similarly, this aristocrat gets talked over and pushed around a lot, and has a bit of difficulty in standing up for themselves.

the unfortunate soul
this aristocrat's family is quite literally down on their luck. their previous grace and poise has failed them, resulting in a lot of things breaking. priceless artefacts, gilded mirrors, bones, pride... you name it, and someone in their family has broken it. their family is looking at removal from the council for the sheer cost in damages they're causing, both to others and themselves. similarly, this aristocrat just can't seem to catch a break; they're clumsy and seem to be a danger to themselves and others.

the black sheep
this aristocrat's family has lost touch with the people they're supposed to represent. their position in the polls is terrible, their friends and colleagues are snubbing them, and they just can't seem to say or do the right thing. their family is looking at removal from the council for failure to uphold a proper image, as their presence is giving the council a bad reputation. similarly, this aristocrat isn't doing so well socially. they find it difficult to make and keep friends, but can't figure out what people want from them.

the penniless heir
this aristocrat's family used to be among the richest; these days, however, their bank accounts are looking pretty sad. they're still well in the realms of the upper-class, but their previous wealth has degenerated, and no one will confess why that is. they don't know if someone gambled it away, or if it's just how the market's going. the council can't keep them on if they can't manage their money, though. similarly, this aristocrat just can't seem to not break their bank, but they won't talk about it, either.

the hostile situation
this aristocrat's family has quite possibly the oddest situation. previously the ones who ensured harmony and cooperation, they've been picking fights more often than not as of late. whether it's with each other or other seats on the council, they're likely to be removed if they can't get their act together. similarly, this aristocrat is having difficulty getting along with others, quick to anger and always seeming to be looking for a fight.

the edwards family has been long known for their wealth, whether it was earned in honorable and well-known ways, or lesser-known ways (though one would never dare call their methods dishonorable or illegal) that only went to prove that money talks. from "humble beginnings" with frugal spending to vaults of treasure with questionable origins, they're a secretive family that believes such matters should be kept behind closed doors. in the present day, this also applies to their struggling finances. matters are being swept under the rug at an alarming pace, and in the midst of it all, olivia has found herself with no money to her name. her trust fund is mysteriously inaccessible, her allowance has been cut down, and she even caught her younger sister trying to steal some of her jewelry! growing up, she'd never believed her or her family to have ever taken part in anything superfluous, but as their money has depleted, she's starting to wonder if maybe they spent more than they could recover. not that it's her fault or anything, of course - teenagers are supposed to spend their parents' money without care! it falls on them for the state of the house, she's sure. the thing is, even with her (admittedly intrusive) sleuthing under her relatives' noses, olivia can't seem to find where the edwards' family fortune could have gone. her paternal grandparents have even altered the security on the treasure vaults, according to her aunt's scandalized whispers at dinner a few months ago, though there's still no proof that such vaults even exist. as it is, her family's wealth is starting to feel more and more like a fever dream of some sort that could only result in bankruptcy.

olivia is incredibly embarrassed that despite retaining their aristocratic status (for now), she's unable to speak out about or against any of the rumours swirling around about the edwards' family's financial state. not just because the council is always watching, but because as an edwards, you just don't air your dirty laundry. to make some cash to keep up appearances, she's taken to tutoring the humans whose parents are just rich enough to send them to sanguine academy. both the students and parents alike are more than willing to fork out some cash if it means academic lessons from an aristocrat, but it's still not enough. maybe she's just greedy, or maybe she's just desperate for any threads to hold together the life she grew up with, but olivia has started looking for work - work! - that she can do a few cities over. it's too embarrassing to think that a fellow aristocrat might find her working a day job, which makes upping any fees for her tutoring sessions all the more important. slow and steady might win the race if you're looking for quality, but olivia wants quantity. the more money she can save up in her personal account, the bigger of a cushion she'll have when the inevitable fallout hits with the council. supposedly, there's a human out there that can fix this mess, but how is she supposed to work that out? money and status are the only things she knows will impress people for sure, and getting to know someone could take too long. maybe, she can just pay the human off.

olivia 400x600.png
At the end of August, Olivia found herself with more suitcases than she was used to toting off to Sanguine Academy in her possession. The downsizing had really taken a toll on her belongings, the remainder of which sat in storage that she'd not told her family of. She'd taken her things from the house under the guise of either selling or packing them all, when in truth, anything that she would have sold for cash had already been taken care of. Instead, she had sat inside a storage until that she sincerely hoped was worth the price and sorted through what she still owned. Sure, her family had sworn that they could fix things this year, so long as Olivia "did her duty as heir", but what did legends matter to her? The Edwards family had never needed a blood donor before, and to have to marry them into the family without so much as a 'Guide to Blood Donors: How They Solve the Problem' or anything - it just seemed off to her. She'd known other families to take a donor into their family before, of course, but with the problem that her family was facing, she wasn't sure that even some kind of mystical intervention could solve the problem.

With four suitcases in her possession - excessive, it felt, even for her - Olivia had dismissed any assistance from her siblings and parents, paranoia whispering from her shoulder that they'd keep stealing one another's things to sell. Her family had fallen so low over the past century, gradual at first, until they'd turned to desperate at the threat of being removed from the Council. Her parents had petitioned for a blood donor from the High Council, citing Olivia as their eldest and therefore the only one who could marry soon enough to avoid the removal. Of course, when she had asked how quickly the blood would take effect in their family, none of her relatives had been able to give her an answer, much less cite any sources that would give her an answer. The mysticism of the situation was not lost on her, and she'd only been able to smile and thank them for their time. At the very least, she knew which donor to approach - though how she was going to go about it was another problem entirely. Humans couldn't know - under any circumstances - about donors and their importance. The lack of balance between species was necessary, the councils preached, and that that particular blood property would only send the humans into a panicked flurry if they knew about it. Which, she supposed, could be true.

Thursday wasn't really a day to think about these things, though - school didn't start until next week, and that was when she'd have to face everything. Olivia would take the weekend to settle in like she did every year, use Monday to make sure that everyone in the dormitory building knew their places, and face the music on Tuesday. Until she actually saw her family's donor, she wasn't going to know how to approach the issue with them. Would she have to pay them off? Could she woo them? Did they have money of their own? Did they even care about money? There were so many variables about them that she didn't know, having nothing but a brief, impersonal page on them with a picture. The lack of preparation bit at her heels to get moving already, because if she succeeded - no, when she succeeded - she would no longer have to worry about leaving the area to get a job or two, no longer have to tutor rich humans who didn't understand the prestige of Sanguine Academy.

"Failure is not an option," her mother had told her with a hug before she had left earlier, whispering the words in her ear with a deceiving smile. Her father had expressed the same sentiment, in the same manner, secrecy key in upholding their honour. Sure, once Olivia was bonding with the human, all of the vampires - aristocrats or not - would know just how they were solving their problem. But no one would talk about it, except, perhaps, others who were facing (or had faced) the same solution. Even then, it would stay quiet. Pride was a ridiculous thing, and the Edwards family was no stranger to it.

Born in the average Wyoming Protestant family, she is the second daughter and third child to an adventurous and supportive family. Her family has always been close-knit, joined together by vacations, board game activities, and more. Ariel couldn't have been more grateful for a family that would encourage their children to follow their dreams, despite that encouragement being in the form of overabundant optimism. From the moment that Ariel expressed the merest interest in gymnastics and softball, her mother Regina pushed her through all kinds of practices and drove her from gym to gym. Beyond her school activities, she was always accompanied by her older brother Philip and older sister Belle when playing video-games or catch at the park. As she grew up, she was neither an honor student or a failing student, making by with an A in biology and physical education and Bs or Cs through her report card. Though her father Arthur wanted her to strive for more, her current report card was enough to keep her on the softball team and to participate in track. Overtime she found herself in all kinds of athletic activities including various martial arts, football, cheer-leading, and more. Almost every summer was taken by some kind of vacation, often local but a few times outside of the state. Her family would be in constant motion, whether on a small or large scale, and things seemed to always be like an ideal fairy-tale when looked beyond an occasional accident or argument.

Ariel's family was caught by surprised as much as herself when she received the letter in the mail that granted her a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend one of the most prestigious schools. Supported with an athletics scholarship and family encouragement, Ariel packed her bags and said goodbye to her family. She knew it would be a difficult move on both of their parts, but she hopes to make her family proud and wishes them the best while she's away. As her lone person makes her steps into boarding school, she keeps strong to her beliefs. Stubborn to some and brave to others, when she has a plan she sees to it through the risks and errors, and will either succeed to the finish line or stumble into failure. She is not easy to persuade, whether for better or for worse, and does her best to always be on her toes. Alert, active, and potentially aggressive, she tries to keep a relaxed and cool demeanor even if it's only for a mere five seconds. She values teamwork and co-operation, even if it's difficult for her to grasp and acquire, but compromise isn't always the first thing on her mind. When in the face of fear and adversity however she is not discouraged or turned away; she does her best to not let fear control her. Beyond her personality, she enjoys going on her daily jogs, pillow fights without 'full-force' restrictions, and healthy, balanced diets. On the flip-side, nothing dampers her mood more than excessive junk-food, people-packed elevators, and the prices of a new video-game controller.

five foot ten inches / one hundred and fifty five pounds / blue eyes

She waited until last minute to make her final goodbye, arriving under the nose of the morning at the risk of cram-unpacking, but at the moment she fell back onto her bed she knew it was worth it. All her belongings were still scattered in the room: pin-picked cork board, brother's gifted gaming console, mother's knit blankets, and a plethora of boxes. She packed all kinds of things from her cat-shaped desk fan to her stash of going-out clothes. Sure, she'll be at school most of the time, but the what-ifs of going out beyond school grounds had to be prepared for. If not for that then at least she would always have her lucky leather jacket and her good old pair of running shoes. Oh, and her mini-fridge, the one thing that was was a little more of a pain to bring not by size but by permissions and paperwork technicalities.

Lifting up from the bed with hands reaching the sky, Ariel got up from her short break to continue tending to all the boxes in her room. As she unpacked, hung up clothes, and set things aside, she couldn't help to ponder on why. The question of why - specifically being why her, of all people, acquiring the scholarship that she did. She knew plenty of other teammates who deserved it more than she, both in talent and by grade, but perhaps it was by mere chance. There was also a larger scale to be considered by the fact that it could've been anyone in, say, Texas or New York, and yet they had to pick little Miss Taylor from Jackson, Wyoming. The chances felt so slim, and a part of it still feels like it was an error on the academy's part, but she was the Ariel Taylor they sought. It was odd, truly, that of all schools she would attend that it would be the big-name rich-kids school. She swore she applied for scholarships, sure, of various and different kinds, but they are for strictly out-of-state colleges as opposed to a Sanguine Academy. However, she was very grateful for this, and by taking this chance it would look good on her record for her resume. She ought to be grateful about that.

Ariel couldn't help but feel outside of it all. She wouldn't dare openly express it; she was pumped when she was told that she could go on any team she'd like, which was odd but lovely, but the moment she walked through the halls of dorms and passed a few students... She couldn't help but feel outside of it all. It wasn't homesickness, though she was sure she was going to develop that in a week, and yet it wasn't because of her origins. There wasn't anything odd about it because of their stares or a few trickled whispers and mumbles, but it sure was something. She swore that she didn't exactly belong here. She wasn't made of green and she wasn't a straight-A honor-roll student. She set her laptop down along with three USBs, headphones, and a box of paperclips. Maybe they already knew her, which would be weird but possible, and are already judging her for that. And then that must just be their fault, she thought, and it wasn't her problem. Hopefully things wouldn't become problematic whoever she's sharing a bathroom with. It'd be a shame to come back home to explain to her parents what she did to the other kid, just like in 8th grade.

It took some time to situate everything, but eventually her desk was decorated with all her school and personal needs. Clothes were hung in the closet, followed by the new-found discovery of this uniform she was bound to dislike, and the hill of shoes she tossed messily on the floor of the cutout. Her desk was nude to all but her laptop, fan, and paperweight, with drawers stuffed with school utensils and supplies. Ariel had placed the cork-board up on the wall nearby her desk, an open little space to stand by, and placed a small plastic trash can under her desk space. The rest of the room looked clean save for the pile of moving boxes all pushed into a corner, resulting in the great cardboard mountain of... Sanguine Academy? She wasn't going to get used to this peculiar name. Nevertheless, she hoped that speakers didn't need to meet the academy's protocol, or the fan, or the nail-polish collection, and so on...

But the unknown continued to mock her. Perhaps this was the feeling of every new in-coming student; she never had this feeling swirling her gut from left to right, but now she understood how those stranger-faces felt on their first day. At the same time however, she couldn't ignore the sense of fear of life here and life back home. Her home life was united by a full family - she would admit that through the good and the rough, they managed best when they were all together. Perhaps Ariel was worrying too much, but she couldn't help but count on the ideas of family turmoil tearing each other apart. It was bound to be an issue. She wasn't a mediator or anything but would admit to having a few tricks up her sleeve to solve some of their problems as much as they were there to solve hers. She shook her head. No, she had to believe they would be fine, as they were going to be. The worst case scenario would be that annual family Skype call, the one where everyone is at eachother's throat and barely hanging on the chat by a thread, and those typically end up well.

As for the fear of, well, the academy, attending it and all that... Sure, she seemed to be an outsider, but everyone was probably feeling like that. Or let's just say that they're not, like she's the odd one out - even such was so, she would blend in just fine. If she was so adapted to her home and school life back in Wyoming, then she'll adapt just fine here. Besides, the great unknown - it should be an exciting adventure! Perhaps it would be more exciting if it didn't feel like such a big mistake! Not the move, no, she won't say that was a mistake, but the picking and the scholarship. Ariel wasn't made of gold, though if she was that would be pretty cool - save for missing out on some beloved hobbies. That wasn't the point. The point was that she didn't belong, sure, but that shouldn't have changed a thing. It was a mere fleeting feeling for the moment, a concern that was bound to become another obstacle to tackle.

"This school isn't gonna change me into a squirm - no, if anything, it's gonna change me for the better." She proudly smirked at the reflection she faced of her planted standing mirror. That's right! It was the only influence she would dare allow. So what if there was some higher voice of reason that insisted it wasn't in her power - she would just have to prove them wrong! Ariel raised her head and posed, rolling up her confidence and determination with prep-talk and gussying up. That's right, a straight back, high neck, and finger-guns, and never forget to flex those muscles too. She went through various faces from flirty to intimidating, only to break out laughing. That's the spirit, she told herself, the one that she knew best; the one that she called her own.

Adventure was ahead this school year, an opportunity to make new friends, discover new places, and perhaps even catch a new kind of romance! It'll also be a chance for her to make a name a big name for the academy's softball team! Excitement was the only keeping that could be kept when looking forward to newfound possibilities and opportunities. Speaking of adventure, she took in mind that it would be wise to put on that fresh uniform and take a walk around the campus. Locate her classes, check out the gym, and see if she can even walk around at this time of day without getting yelled at by the authorities. It sure as hell was a better idea than sitting in her new dorm with all this pent-up energy! Ariel threw on the uniform, keeping the tie a little loose and the jacket open. She took a step out of her dorm, key in pocket with chap-stick, wallet, and all that. Today was the start of a new and thrilling journey.

n a m e ; true deveaux. yes, that's her real name.

a g e ; seventeen.

p r o n o u n s ; she/her.

o r i e n t a t i o n ; bi on all counts, a little shy about it.

b i o ;

"she grew up in an indiana town, had a good lookin' mama who never was around, but she grew up tall & she grew up right with them indiana boys on an indiana night."

tom petty references aside, true was raised a southern belle in a parish situated a little to the left of new orleans, louisiana. she was raised by a single mother and her extended family, whose lineage expands all the way up into southern missouri. really, her family was the typical redneck type. distilling moonshine out of the back of a 1970s' chevy truck, getting slammed off of it afterwards and streaking buck naked through the bayou in the waning hours of the evening. yes, that's what true grew up with.

mostly, true would spend the humid summer days with the sun beating down her exposed skin at the back of her papery sundress, dirty socks slouched haphazardly on her crossed ankles. she was raised on the static sounds of patsy cline and don gibson that came sweet as molasses from the am radio waves. of course, that was when she wasn't busy loading herself onto the old schoolbus that would drive her ten miles out every morning to the nearest schoolhouse. if you count a broken-down old farmhouse in the company of at most ten other children a decent "schoolhouse". but even then, true would always remain detached, spacey. in her own little world as she absentmindedly formed a chorus to the lyrics she'd scribbled down that same morning on the back of her thesis. there were few subjects in her schooling that she could actually stand to pay attention to. among them being focused mathematics and science. hell, she could barely even long divide honestly.

no, what she was really interested in growing up was the long and dismal history of the southern united states. the history of the slave trade. the forced relocation of the cherokee natives on the trail of tears. events that sparked the heavily forlorn sounds of blues rock. the civil strife during the 1960s that inspired folk music.

she enjoyed learning about american gothic literature. nathaniel hawthorne. washington irving.

once a month, she would always convince her mother to pile her and her many brothers into their chevy and drive her ten miles out to the nearest town library, where she would always come out with an armful of compendiums of short stories.

being the youngest child of a family with five male cousins had its pitfalls for the most part. true was always the child who was simply just... left to her own devices. while her cousins were the ones who were constantly shoving eachother around, she would always be the one standing away from their confrontations. rarely did she ever truly intercede, and if she did they would usually find some way to turn their ire on her.

no, when it came to being the mediator of a dispute, true always had much more of a natural touch when it came to her older relatives. drunk uncles bickering, her mothers' close friends getting into catfights with her. she's always had what you could describe as an old soul. strumming a beat-up six string on her hot tin roof humming hank williams tunes.

due to her 'humble' origins and less-than-average proficiency in math and science, you could probably imagine how shocked true was to have received a letter for a scholarship at an elite academy out-of-state. her mother was hesitant to send her, bless her heart, as honestly, what kind of school would reach out to a girl who'd never even applied for anything of the sort... and whose only aptitude was strumming a guitar by ear until something came out sounding decent. not to mention the fact that not one of the deveaux family had ever been privileged enough for something like this. in the end, however, she decided to accept the scholarship of her own accord and went away with little more than an old, dusty suitcase packed with all the sundresses she had and her beloved acoustic guitar slung around her back.

sanguine academy. if that ain't the most unusual name for a school, true doesn't know exactly what is. but hey, she's dormin' with the rich kids now. their namin' standards and such are probably a lot more different than what she'd been brought up with.

currently, the sprite of a girl is taking light, careful steps towards the large wrought-iron gate seperating who she is now to her new reality.

true pauses in front of it, eyes tracing the intricate monogram twisted in iron. she takes the moment to also adjust her guitar strap that had been digging uncomfortably into her neck since she stepped out of the taxi cab and set foot on entirely new soil.

past the somewhat ominous gate, true can see the open courtyard garnished with perfectly kept rosebushes and centered by a breathtakingly beautiful fountain, a steady mist falling where the water condenses into the air.

and how inviting the mist looks on the hot summer day, and how quickly she would make for the fountain... if it wasn't for the students that had already arrived yesterday. the problem is, each one of the students in the courtyard is dressed to academic perfection. their uniforms are just barely visible from where she stands, but she could vaguely make out dressy shirts, emblems, and the distinctive slate-and-red pattern of academy colors. the exact same emblem and colors her thin fingers first ran over on the seal of the envelope that held the fateful scholarship letter.

already, she could just feel the blood drain from her face as she drops her gaze to her modest sundress, perenially stained dusty brown and moldy green in places from adventures past. there wasn't a day gone by that she felt out-of-place dressed like this when she was on the bayou.

her voice is almost too meek to comprehend and wavering as she whispers words of reassurance to herself, purposely lightening her louisiana accent.

❛ al'right, true, you can do this. ma' says that if they wanna help me be a musician someday then this is my best bet for success. just gotta get on up to room- ❜ there is a shuffle as she lets one hand off of the handle of her suitcase and digs around the front pocket of her dress for the orientation letter, ❛ ...room 114, maybe they'll have an outfit up there already just waitin' for me to wear. just gotta avoid all the people... ❜

true's mousy hair clings to the sweat on the back of her neck as she reaffirms her grip on the suitcase. she brings her eyes back to land square on the small crowd in the courtyard. she'd been walking for the past twenty minutes already, she can't afford to tarry around now.

tentatively, she puts a hand to the right side of the gate, shoving it open as quickly as she possibly could with how heavy it is. it makes an ear-piercing screech as if the hinges on the gate had been neglected for far too long.

how old is this academy... really?

true makes for the front doors of the dormitories double-time, dragging her luggage over the cobblestone behind her.

B i o:
The Seok clan. The perfect vampires. No vampire clan could outmatch tradition and appearance like the Seok family did. Even from its modest beginnings the Korean council always kept the Seok family in a favorable light. How could they not? The Seok practically perfected the image of the egotistical blue-blooded aristocrat. Haughty? Check. Condescending to humans? Check. Viewed convention over innovation? Check. This family could not pander to the council more if they try. Other clans coveted the Seok’s attention and praise. High status and positive reputation essentially coursed through the Seok’s blood. With the clan so high on their mighty pedestal nothing they say or do could ever be reprimanded by the council..right? Well not exactly.

The Seok’s downfall began like most stories do. A love story and a change of heart (or many). From what Min-jun remembers of his childhood, his grandfather’s and his step-grandmother’s love transformed the Seok, for what Min-jun believes is the better. About a century and a half ago Min-jun grandmother left the clan for “unknown” reasons. (Most of the clan knew why, their lady was a bit..loose) Jun-ho, Min-jun grandfather was heart-broken, becoming a shell of a man he once was. No one in the clan, not even Min-jun his bubbly grandson could bring a smile to the vampire lord’s lips. A dark cloud settle over the Seok until Jun-ho met Bo-A during one of his weekly trip with his grandson to the market. Min-jun could recall the wondrous look that enveloped the vampire’s face at the site of the young blonde hair saleswoman. For the human and vampire it was love at first site. Jun-ho was positively enraptured by the exotic fair-haired beauty, and Bo-A the open-minded human captivated by the vampire lord and his whimsical young heir.

Jun-ho offered Bo-A a high paying wage to be Min-jun’s caretaker, which Bo-A accepted happily. Many in the Seok clan was outraged. A human in the main house?! Taking care of the young heir?! To most it was absolute blasphemy, however soon enough the clan’s viewpoint of the woman changed. Whether it was the beaming smile on tLord Seok’s face when Bo-A entered the room. Or the patient spirit she emanate in every ridiculous task she was assigned to by the embers of the clan in addition to caring for Min-jun. The woman had a grace to powerful to name. Whether it was begrudging respect or total adoration Bo-A gained a reputation as a respectable woman with more honor than the whole clan combined. Jun-ho and Bo-A married twenty years after the meeting in the small market. A few years later she was turned after much persuasion from Jun-ho.

The marriage between Min-jun grandfather and grandmother brought along many queries of the actual advantage of being vampire especially in Bo-A situation. While she loved her new family and clan, her human family was growing old and dying only to leave Bo-A as the last remaining individual of her blood family. Depression filled the lady’s heart as she watch all the ones she love fade away right before her very eyes. Her mother, father, sister, bother; her whole family gone. The desire to be with her loved ones overbearing, she requested Jun-ho change her back. The request was impossible, however the deep love he had for his wife overtook him. All Jun-ho wanted to do was make her smile again. So he began conducting experiment trying to find the cure for vampirism hoping to bring joy back to his wife. Min-jun being the sweet child he was stayed with his grandmother daily keeping her company, his childhood filled with her stories and sweet words.

Throughout the next century Jun-ho and the Seok developed radical changes in their opinions of human, especially those of Min-jun generation. Members including Jun-ho begun to commune and connect with humans in the villages near the castle. Viewpoints altering, and ideas revolutionizing in the Seok. At first it was unnoticeable. An aunt making becoming close friends with a rich human family. (She was just developing family connections) An Uncle convincing another vampire to not hunt for the night (He was just tired, surely he would feed tomorrow) Jun-ho himself appointing a small number of human as advisors for counseling, and requesting that the family adopted the policy of consuming animal blood over human. His new philosophy stating humans were in every right, a vampire’s equal not their prey. The Seok’s adoring their lord and new lady embraced the new opinions spreading through the clan. However Jun-ho underestimated just how tolerant the council would be to the family’s new open-mindedness.

News of the Seok’s family views flooded their district reaching the ears of the council. To say that the council was upset would be an understatement. Not only did the Seok break countless centuries of tradition, rumors spread that Jun-ho and his family was conducting experiment to find the “cure” for vampirism. It was downright sacrilege! The council decided something must be done immediately to prevent the Seok’s “disease” from spreading to other families and clans. As gossip and rumor of the human-loving Seok’s. Proponents of the Seok dispersed quickly like bats from a lit cave. The Seok name becoming synonymous with lunacy and heresy. The family name was in the communal toilet. Min-jun observed his grandfather struggles with the council and aristocratic society with dismay. Yes his grandfather was fanciful, but so was Min-jun. Multiple members of the Seok family tried to rectify their situation, but every action was met with deep skepticism. Jun-ho was faced with a difficult decision. Step down as head of the clan, and have his incredibly bright but socially awkward grandson participate in the blood donor program at Sanguine Academy to prove the Seok family saw the error in their ways. Or his family would be dismissed from the council; forever pariahs of the aristocratic society. In the end Jun-ho agreeing to the council’s terms believing his clan has suffered enough. His poor grandson who grew up enclosed in the estate spending more time with the older members of his clan especially his grandfather and step-grandmother. Nowhere near ready to face the cruelty of upper-class society, Min-jun will have to learn the status quo of being around those in his age group. But how can a kid who rattles on about odd subjects like no tomorrow and misses entire social cues survive at Sanguine Academy? Well the community at Sanguine academy will just have to find out

“It is time to leave my son”

It was late August when Min-jun found himself uprooted from everything he’d known and love. He knew his father meant well, but to fly half way across the world to Sanguine Academy. Min-Jin had never been very far outside of his ancestral home, never having the need or desire too. Desperate times called for extreme counter measures, nevertheless Min-jun did not want to go through with the council's outrageous request. Could there be a requirement to rebuild the clan’s reputation that didn't threatening Min-jun sanity? Him, the most sociably awkward vampire in the Seok clan seduce and enrapture a Blood Donor? The very thought nearly brought Min-jun to tears. Whether from the hilarity of the situation or the sheer impossibility of Min-jun actually accomplishing this endeavor remained a mystery. To put it crudely Mickey was unequivocally and positively screwed. Trudging alongside his father in the airport, Min-jun thoughts annihilated any self-confidence his father attempted to instill within his son.

“Mickey. Please, you have to be more confident in yourself.” His father declared stopping him and his son next to one of the airport benches. Whenever his father used his nickname and inevitable lecture was paired along with it.

“Mickey you come from one of the oldest family to have ever existed in all of Asian. Be proud. The is more to you than your capable of imagining. You must keep you head held high. The family needs you to be strong. I need you to be strong.”

He knew his father was trying to be encouraging, but being reminded that whole clan future rested upon his shoulder did not help his anxiousness. A sigh worked its way out Min-jun’s lips as he stood up from the airport bench stretching his arms up and over his head. It was fairly late in the airport, the Korean boy having to catch an extremely late flight to make it to Sanguine Academy at a decent hour the next day. If his flight wasn’t delayed (which it wasn’t. It was on a private jet owned by the family. Hey even if the reputation was down the drain, does not mean their pocket were) he would arrive on a Wednesday a week before the class started. It gave him enough time to adjust to the new environment filled to the brim with people he had to interact with. Could someone just burn him now?

“Yes father I know. I represent the family. I will strive to make everyone in the clan proud, including you father.” He answered before offering a deep bow in his father’s direction.

“Good luck my son”

After receiving a nod and a deep bow in return from his father Min-jun gather his carry on item and walk down the hallway towards his terminal. Fortunately since the jet was owned by his clan, it mean that all his item were already on the plane ready to go. Taking out his headphone, he placed them on his head. Human pop music reverberated in his ears as he climbed the stair up and entered the luxury plane. With a final look outside the window next to his seat, Min-jun stared as home drifted further and further away.

“Father. What have you gotten me into?”

Sanguine Academy, boarding school for the rich and influential stood before him. His mission to bond with the human his family petitioned for weighed firmly on his shoulders. There was no ifs, ands, or buts. Mickey had to successfully complete this daunting task before him, or the council would expel his family. His family reputation lied solely in his hands. Taking one huge breath in and out Min-jun begun moving forward towards his new life.

n a m e ; Vincent Tyler

n i c k n a m e ; Vince, Vinnie

a g e ; Seventeen

p r o n o u n s ; He/Him

o r i e n t a t i o n ; Bisexual, though he leans more towards guys

b i o ; Vincent Tyler was born on August 14, 1999 to Michael and Erin Tyler. Michael and Erin were high school sweethearts who married fresh out of high school and had a child only nine months later. Michael's father was a mechanic and owned the local shop where Michael worked. He went to night school at the local community college to get his Masters in business so he could inherit the shop after his father passed away. His wife, Erin, was a talented artist with dreams of having her work shown in a museum.

With Vincent's birth came great joy for the young newly weds. Both parents were very family oriented and excited to raise a child of their own. From birth, it was clear that Vincent was highly intelligent. He could walk at eight months and talk at ten. From the age of two to the age of six, Vincent taught himself how to read at a fourth grade level and speak as if he were twelve years old. He preferred learning over playing and books over other kids.

During his elementary school years, he began to show a natural charisma that drew students and teachers alike to him. He was constantly the center of attention and the other kids always followed his lead. Despite this, Vincent never noticed it. He doesn't know why he has so much charisma or why people regard him as a natural leader. In sixth grade, he began to show a special talent for science. He had a fascination with the inner workings of our world, and he pursued it with an inspiring passion.

Throughout middle school and most of high school, Vincent participated in every science fair and expo that he could. At sixteen, he invented a device that located missing items based off their last electro-magnetic signature. He also learned to put his natural leadership and born charisma to good use. He participated in student government programs, won class president four times, and was the president of debate club three years running. He enjoyed being a leader and debating thoroughly, and they quickly became something he participated in regularly. But Vincent wanted to do more. He wanted to help out with his community somehow. So Vincent started joining charities, coming up with community petitions for worthy causes, and spending the majority of his money on community projects.

When he got his letter in the mail, he was surprised, but pleasantly. He had heard of Sanguine Academy and knew that it was for only the richest of humans and the vampire elite. Scholarships to the school were extremely rare and only for specific fields, making them few and far between. He was excited to learn this his scholarship was for science, as it had always been his favorite subject and a point of interest for him. Almost immediately, Vincent Tyler began anticipating his new life as a Sanguine Academy student.

"Vincent, sweetheart, are you sure you want to go to this school?" Erin Tyler asked her son for the hundred millionth time.

She had been mother-henning him for weeks since he'd received the scholarship letter. Vincent groaned while his father laughed silently from behind his wife's shoulder. His son scowled at him before turning back to his mother.

"Yes, Mama, I'm sure. This is a big opportunity for me. I promise I'll come back and see you and Pop whenever I can," he assured her.

Erin brushed tears from her eyes and enveloped her son in a tight embrace. She was in the beginning stages of empty nest syndrome (ENS). Vincent was, after all, her only child, and he was off to boarding school. The boy hugged his mother back, looking up into his father's proud, wizened eyes. He knew his parents would miss him, just as he would miss them, but he also knew that they, like himself, were proud of him and the life he was living. They always had been and always would be. Their family was a close one, and full of love and loyalty. Erin finally released him and stepped backwards into her husband's arms.

"Okay. Well, Vince, you better get going. You don't want to miss your plane," Michael said, handing Vincent his backpack.

The seventeen year old took the bag, waved goodbye to his parents, and headed through the terminal to his plane. The flight lasted about three hours, most of which Vincent slept through. When the plane touched ground in the city that housed Vincent's new home for the next year, he grabbed his carry on and followed the horde of passengers to the baggage claim. When he made it out of his terminal, a man holding a sign with Vincent's name on it waved him over. During the drive to the academy, Vincent surveyed the city that was now his home and marveled over the opportunities this school offered. He was grateful to have been offered a scholarship, but still curious as to why he'd been chosen. What about a normal suburban teenager from Illinois stood out to such a prestigious school?

"Welcome to Sanguine Academy, Mr. Tyler," said the man who'd driven him here as he opened the car door.

Vincent stared in awe at the gorgeous architectural buildings before him as he stepped out of the car, gathered up his luggage, and headed for the large oak doors of the Sanguine Academy dormitory.

the unfortunate soul

name; Haneul No
nickname; Noah
age; 18 years old
pronouns; he/him
orientation; Bisexual Hetero-romantic
bio;
For as long as anyone can remember, the No clan has walked on this Earth with absolute grace and elegance. They were not the richest clan, but they were famed for their beauty and dashing good looks. They charmed their way into the hearts of many, and understood how to use their beauty to their advantage. Of course, they learned not to overuse that power. They believed that just having a beautiful outer appearance could only get you so far in life, so they prioritize themselves to try to be just as intelligent as they were beautiful. Despite their hard work, they were often looked down upon, mostly by humans thinking they were just pets. Decorations for the council. That they were nothing more than just beautiful trophies to look at. Although no one, human or vampire, would probably ever say it to their face, it doesn’t mean it isn’t said behind their backs.

Haneul’s father, Ki-jung No, is currently the head of the clan. He is a leader among leaders and during his lifetime he somehow managed to triple the profits the family owned company was making. He was a natural businessman, but he never neglected his family. His wife, and Haneul’s mother, Ji-su, was like the perfect mother and women. She had grace, was breathtakingly beautiful, and loved her family more than anything in the world. Ki-jung and Ji-su were like a match made in heaven, and Haneul has always took pride in how amazing both his parents were. Ever since he was young, he hoped to have a happy and love-filled marriage like his parents did, well, that’s what his mother raised him to think at least.

Just like his father, and the rest of the men in his clan, Haneul was born good-looking and he managed to grow over six feet tall. He’s taller than a lot of the men in his clan, even his own father. He was constantly told by his mother that women like tall men, but he’s still a little insecure about the fact that he can still grow taller than he already was. Like other members of his clan, Haneul was home-schooled, but he often went out of the estate to explore and shop in the human-filled cities. Because of his mother, Haneul grew up to be very indifferent towards humans. He didn’t view himself as superior or above them. He didn’t really care much for humans, other than the blood that coursed through their body, and maybe the clothes and accessories they designed. Ji-su raised him to have a perfect balance between confidence and modesty. She didn’t want her son to be arrogant, but she did want him to have self-confidence.

Haneul doesn’t really remember when this stroke of bad luck befell his clan, but he thought it was maybe about a century ago. It’s not even a stroke though. For over a century, his clan has been literally down on their luck, and he can’t pinpoint the reason why. Suddenly, their once graceful movements became bringers of destruction wherever they went. They’re elegant strides were replaced with careful steps, trying not to trip over their own feet as they walked. There were also many incidents of them misplacing items that they swore were just in their hands moments before. No one in his clan can count how many times they’ve lost their phone, wallet, keys, and the occasional important document.

It was just one misfortune after another for them. Bumping into multiple people, dropping expensive jewelry down the drain, and basically dropping things in the hardest to reach places, spilling a drink on their brand-new clothes, running late to important meetings, locking their keys in their car, and other things like that. Haneul remembers one of his cousins locking his car keys in the trunk of his car. He had to walk home, which took him a few hours, just to grab the spare car keys, and then go back to get his car. Not even their beautiful appearance could save them from the scrutiny of other vampires. They were laughed and yelled at for their clumsy behavior.

Being the adaptable person he was, Haneul learned to live with his new clumsy nature. He started carrying disinfectants and band-aids around with him, just in case he hurts himself or someone else. He even put his family doctor on speed dial for the more serious injuries and his father too, for the cases where he breaks something expensive. Despite their bad luck, it was still rare for Haneul, or anyone else in the clan, to sustain any serious injuries. They mostly got minor cuts and bruises, injuries that they could easily take care of themselves, but Haneul thought it was better to be safe than sorry. He developed this ‘prepared for anything’ attitude and even made a survival kit for himself. He tries to be a careful, but it doesn’t help when he’s over six feet tall and has large hands. He’s practically a giant walking disaster.

Just like Haneul, his father and other fellow clan members learned to live with this ‘curse’ as they nicknamed it; however, it took a big toll on his mother mentally. She was fine with it at first. Ji-su brushed off any insulting comment from other female vampires and always held her head high, even after she trips and dives face first into the ground. She was a strong figure, an inspiration to the entire clan really, and because of her attitude, the whole clan could deal with this ‘curse’. However, something in Ji-su just snapped after she embarrassed herself at a dinner party she and Ki-jung were invited to.

About ten years ago, Ki-jung was having dinner with some old friends, and one of them invited Ki-jung, Ji-su, and Haneul to a dinner party they were hosting. With their family situation, Ki-jung was reluctant to go, he didn’t want anything bad to happen, ruin his friends party, and give more reasons for others to ridicule his family; however, Ji-su was very adamant about going to the party. It was a party for the wealthy, both vampires and humans were attending, and it was an opportunity for Ki-jung to gain business associates for the company. Plus, it would be a valuable experience for Haneul to have. Ji-su finally persuades Ki-jung to go, even though he still had a bad feeling something was going.

On the night of the party, it started out fine. None of them tripped as they entered the large ball room, where the festivities took place. Haneul ended up getting whisked away by a few female vampires, while his parents went off to talk to the hosts of the evening. Within an hour, Haneul became the talk of the night, but not in a good way. He had accidently stepped on multiple people’s feet, bumped into many of the hired helps, and worst of it all, he accidentally spilled his drink on one of the guests. The man immediately became confrontational and was yelling at Haneul, even though he was very apologetic and offered to pay to buy a new shirt multiple times. The man made the situation much larger than it should be, drawing a crowd to surround the two.

Ji-su immediately went in to save her son, but even she made the situation more worse. Trying to get through the crowd, she bumped into one of the hired helps, fell, and spilled red wine all over herself. Her hair was soaked and her dress was stained with the red drink, and it had drawn the crowd of guests over towards her. People pointed and laughed at her, none of which even tried to help her up. It was Haneul and Ki-jung who came in to help her. Ki-jung helped his wife up, despite her refusal saying that his clothes will get stained. Haneul yelled at the other guests to stop laughing at his mother. They left shortly after, and Ji-su just couldn’t shake what happened off her shoulder like she normally did. It was the first time she ever felt humiliated and what’s even worse was that she embarrassed Ki-jung and Haneul in front of many respected figures of society. That night became another reason for others to mock her family. Although both her husband and son told her it was fine, Ji-su just couldn’t stop thinking about it. It was all her fault. She was the one who wanted to go. She was the one who said everything was going to be alright. Reassuring her family that nothing embarrassing was going to happen at the party, but in the end, she was the one that gave the enemy more ammunition to attack her family. An incident that will possibly haunt her forever.

Ever since then, she had secluded herself in a far room of the house and has only ever stepped foot out of the room to get some form of exercise by walking around in the back gardens. To this day, she still has nightmares over this incident and can’t help but get flashbacks of the crowd laughing at her, whenever she’s surrounded by people. She has become afraid of showing her face to the public, or even to her own family and clan. She was afraid to be laughed at and afraid to further embarrass her clan.

Everyone in the clan was worried about Ji-su, but something even more troubling came up. After hearing that the clan could possibly be removed from the council, Ki-jung sent Haneul to Sanguine Academy to find the human that could possibly save them from being removed from the council, and well, ultimately save them from themselves. Haneul reluctantly agreed to his father’s orders, but he wasn’t happy about it that’s for sure. He didn’t want to marry a stranger, but like his mother, he loved his family more than anything, and if he must have a possibly loveless marriage to save his clan, then that’s what he’s going to do. Haneul was always an obedient child, so he was never going to say no to his father anyway.

Haneul had some experience charming humans before, but never to the point that they would seek marriage from him. His clumsy and buffoon-like nature doesn’t really sit well with others as husband material. He understands his faults and worries that the human would never want to marry him, but he doesn’t plan to give up. He’s very stubborn and once he decides to do something, he’ll follow through with that decision until the very end.

One more week until school started. One more week until he had to go find his bride to be. Being home-schooled, he never really got to play with other vampires outside his clan, so he was somewhat looking forward to the change of scenery. Even so, excitement wouldn’t really be what Haneul would call this feeling. Haneul was nervous to say the least. His entire clan’s future is at stake here, and it’s up to him to save it. With pressure like that, who wouldn’t be nervous? As he walked through the halls of his home, with his suitcases in hand and a duffel bag draped on his shoulder, he could feel the weight of the pressure, not just from his bag, weighing him down as he took each step. He didn’t understand why he had to marry the human girl in the first place. How could a simple marriage fix his family’s mess anyway? Haneul tried not to think about it too much, or he’d risk getting a headache.

It wasn’t like he hated the idea of marrying a human. He just wanted to at least pick the girl he would marry. There was no way for him to get out of this. He couldn’t disobey his father and even if he did run away, his father would probably find him. His father was a very smart man, and deep down Haneul knew that this was the best solution for his family’s problems. Haneul stopped next to a large door, letting go of one of his suitcases to knock on the old wood. “Mother, I’m leaving now. Don’t worry, I’m going to fix everything.” He says, not even waiting to hear a reply from his mother, Haneul grabbed his suitcase once again and made his way toward the entrance.

Earlier Haneul’s father called a taxi service, requesting them to take Haneul to the airport. His relatives had offered to drive him, but knowing their luck, it was much safer for an outsider to be the one behind the wheel. After placing his bags in the trunk, Haneul sat in the backseat of the taxi, of course not without hitting his head as he climbed in. He groaned and rubbed his head to try to ease the pain. As the taxi drove, Haneul watched as his home disappeared into the distance. Hearing his ringtone go off, Haneul looked to see that his father was calling him.

“Hello?”

“Oh Haneul, are you on your way to the airport now?” his father asked.

“Yes, I’m in the taxi right now.” Haneul replied, then there was only silence. He wished his father could have at least seen him off, since he was the one shipping him off to the other side of the world.

“I just wanted to say be careful okay? Come back in one whole piece” his father finally says, breaking the silence.

“It’s not like I’m going off to war” Haneul laughs, but he might as well have been. He has never left his hometown ever, even more so after his clumsy nature developed. He constantly got himself hurt left and right. Now that he was going to a place where his family can’t immediately reach him, it’s a bit worrying for his family, especially his parents. After a small lecture from his father about safety and a reminder for him to put on his sunblock and lotion every day, Haneul says goodbye to his father.

Once he finally reached the airport, Haneul pays the driver and got out of the taxi. Along the way out, he once again hits his head on the roof of the car. Quickly brushing off the pain, he takes his things out of the trunk and makes his way inside. Walking through multiple lines, he got his ticket, had his bags checked, and finally got to his appropriate flight gate on time, with just a minute to spare. He almost lost hope getting to his flight on time, after tripping over his things twice, running into five different people, and almost dropping his ticket into the garbage.

It’s safe to say he’s had a rough day so far. Now that he could finally relax a little on the plane, Haneul opens up this yellow folder to take out the picture of the “blood donor” he was supposed to find at Sanguine Academy. After getting a good look at the photo for the nth time, he sighed and looked out the window to see the plane take off. This was it. There’s no turning back now. He has to woo the human girl and get her to marry him under any means necessary.

The Hostile Situation

b i o: Benjamin Maverick comes from a lineage which once prided on maintaining balance in the council. Count Council members would approach the family whenever they were in need of a solution to their riff, or any issue for that matter. The Mavericks were a kind and helpful family, noble and just in every way possible. However, all of that goodwill and reputation slowly started slipping down the drain when Benjamin’s grandfather began demanding for a higher position than what they were currently in. It was baseless, really. His family sought to pacify him, but were soon in splits about the entire debacle. Soon enough, all the branches of the Maverick family were quarreling amongst one another. All this fighting left them no time to solve the issues of other people; issues that were more important and had value. Ignorance soon turned to arrogance and the family started their reign of petty belligerence.

The family's scenario had a drastic impact on a young vampire who was once a smart, jubilant and innocent; turning him into a haughty, condescending, ever arguing "adolescent". Even though Benjamin's mother shielded her son from the family feud, upon hitting his mid-teens, the young vampire saw how exciting the fights had been. Being a polite and cultured vampire now meant nothing at this household... Well, at least to the older vampires. Not to mention the fact that the entire situation just happened to take place as he entered his next phase in life. Benjamin grew into his rebellious phase with the blessings of his ever-feuding family (Save his mother who was still trying to tame her son).

Benjamin grew into a boastful, arrogant and haughty individual. He loves to get into fights, and winning them; paying no heed to the consequences thereof. Benjamin is a sarcastic vampire who likes to speak his mind— even if that means sugar coating his sentences to confuse people. Provoking people and watching their downfall is a fun pastime for him. All that being said, Benjamin still carries the blood of a Maverick. He is smart, often capable of finding his way out of any situation without the use of any violence (But no, he would not resort to this horrible path). While the rowdy boy likes to stay the way he is, he knows that for his family line to survive, he must amend his ways. His only solace is that he is a young vampire and has a lot of time to bring in any change to himself.

Benjamin threw his bag onto the bed and fell right next to it, groaning into the pillow. “Why couldn’t I have just arrived the day before school started?” He growled lethargically. While the prince of hostility sulked, his butler—who foresaw this happening, helped bring in his luggage and organize them in his room. Benjamin continued to sulk externally, seeming as if he hated the very notion of going to Sanguine Academy. However, it would be a lie to say that this was entirely true. Inside, the young vampire was quite excited at the prospect of attending a boarding school. He’d been home-schooled for as long as he could remember and even then, he managed to cause ruckus in the outside world.

He waited till his silent butler finished his duty and left before jumping up and looking around at his room. “Not bad at all,” He said, nodding his head in approval. He decided to give himself a mini tour of the campus. After all, he had all the time in in the world.

Benjamin knew that this place wouldn’t be all play and no work. He had been sent here for a specific purpose. He was out for blood. Of course, like everything else in the world, Benjamin liked to make a mountain out of a molehill. If asked, he’d say that he was out to find a new pet who- according to his family, would satisfy him. Benjamin wasn’t in any hurry though. He knew that things would occasionally fall in place. That, or he’d be presented with an opportunity to fight for it. He was excited however, to mingle with the species known as human beings. You see, this unfortunate soul had a shielded up-bringing. Spoilt even. Being pampered had its perks, but at the same time, he never got to see the human world for what it actually was. Why would he need to? All they were were delicacies to feed on.

A small part of him wanted to hope that he was wrong, but Benjamin decided to wait and find out for his own.
