Ok I have a few ideas but not all are for Realistic and Modern.
#1 (Realistic or Modern) 2020, the world is at peace from all the war. Everyone has put down their guard but that was a big mistake. A terrorist group that call themselves The Jackals are rising to power. No one knows where they originated from but they now operate in over thirty countries. Now the western countries are putting together a small taskforce to gather intel and infiltrate their bases, this taskforce has been nicknamed Shadow Force. Shadow Force are now a key to saving the world from the Jackals.
#2 (Fandom) Star Wars: One hundred years after The Empire was destroyed the sith have returned. The Jedi are now tasked to crush this threat before it can expand. Jedi and Sith are not the only masters of the force. There are many people out their either former Jedi or Sith who got tired of fighting the wars for their masters. The sith are now putting droids into mass production again as is the Jedi for clones.
#3 (Fantasy) Medieval times, the Imperial Order vs The Rebels (Elder scrolls much? xD ) The Imperial Order are an evil who have somehow come to rule the land of Kanai. The rebels are trying to stop them but they don't seem strong enough. Who will win?
#4 (Futuristic) Space travel is a pretty common thing. Y'know families going on holiday to the moon and stuff like that but what's not normal is finding a brand new planet, the biggest so far and not ever noticing it. Weird huh? Well now that it's been found why not explore it? Bad idea if I do say so myself. How could a planet bigger than Jupiter and close to Earth than Pluto not be noticed at alllllll??? Well your now in a team of astronauts/explorers who are venturing to the planet. Once you land the bad stuff already starts to happen.
