Hana Chiba
The Princess in a Foreign Land

Current Location: The Club Room
Interactions: Kyoya ( youngwriterme youngwriterme ), Setsuna ( temporarybliss temporarybliss ), Eli ( animegirl20 animegirl20 )
Mentions: Tamaki ( youngwriterme youngwriterme ), Haruhi ( t e t z e l t e t z e l )

Upon hearing Kyoya chuckle, Hana quickly joined in. While she couldn’t quite find the humor, if he was happy enough to laugh, she hopefully did not say anything wrong. And upon hearing his reassurances, she found herself exhaling, relieved to hear that such a small interaction didn’t sour things.

“I am glad to hear that. As well as honored to be working with such professionals,” Hana replied with a kind smile. Honestly it still shocked her that her club gained enough attention to grant it the opportunity to work alongside their inspiration. Alongside the fact that they were so accommodating. It felt like a dream.

But this was reality. And in reality, time keeps moving. A fact Setsuna reminded Hana of when she approached the two, asking if the guests were going to be let in. Hana quickly caught onto her gaze, understanding the nervousness herself as she widened her eyes, nodding. “Yes! You’re correct! Thank you Setsuna.”

As Setsuna and Kyoya exchanged words, Hana gazed out at the ballroom, eyeing the various hosts she recognize including Eli, who now seemed engaged with another host. Taking a deep breath, she cupped her hands around her lips, calling out to them with her voice echoing across the ballroom. “Alright ladies! We have our guests coming in at this very moment! Let’s do our best to ensure they have a lovely time tonight!”

Hana proceeded to give them a smile, even giving Eli and the host she was discussing a sheepish smile as apology for interrupting their conversation. Only to turn her focus on Kyoya as she was addressed once more, giving a grin and a nod. “Thank you Kyoya.”

After that, the doors were open and soon the room was flooded with guests. And Kyoya was right. Instantly Tamaki adopted the princely persona he was well known for.

Had she not had guests to attend to herself, she would have been staring in awe in how quickly he seemed to just… become the perfect host. Yet she did have guests welcome and attend to and before she knew it, Hana was panicking over being the best hostess she could be as she quickly attended the guests, complimenting the outfits of male and female students a like and striking up conversation as soon a group formed around her.

Nothing big but it was evident that the princess hostess had a certain charm that attracted the student body. Her compliments were enough to make the students around her blush and grin. Her enthusiasm earned intrigued gazes and chuckles. And her words dropped with a certain honestly that made every sentence seem to be the truth. The various aspects that led to her attaining the title of the club’s princess.

Yet among the chatter and festivities, Hana noted Setsuna sitting off in a table of her own, a sight that caused her gaze to exhibit some concern as she excused herself from the guests, assuring them she will be back soon before approaching Setsuna. “How is everything looking Setsuna?” She asked, doing her best to provide her friend some support as she gaze her the widest grin she could muster.

The girl's mind was completely engaged in the spreadsheets and files she had on her computer, it was practically her second brain. It wasn't much of a surprise when it took her a moment to even realize Hana's presence.

"Oh," She started, looking up before glancing back down, "You only have five minutes until a photoshoot with..." She squinted her eyes at the screen, "Yuki Himotoya, so we can't chit chat for too long."

It wasn't meant to be rude, but it was meant to keep things on schedule. Maybe Setsuna was nervous about tonight, maybe she cared more about being in the host club than she initially thought she did. To answer the other girl's question though, she smiled.

"Everything seems to be in order though; everyone's on time, no one has skipped out on their allotted slots, all of the picture booths are filled. It's a great first combined event I'd say!" She smiled proudly, "What do you think, princess?"

She shot the question back at her, leaning forward at her computer and raising a brow.

"No creeps yet, right?" She then asked quickly, ready with security if need be.

"Ah, a photoshoot?" Hana asked, evidently surprised that someone would go out of their way to schedule a photoshoot with her. What was she even expected to do during that? Was there a specific way she needed to pose or... Hana instinctively found her hands smoothing her hair and dress, hoping that no hair or sequin was out of place as she took deep breaths, attempting to calm herself. Only to be brought out of her thoughts by Setsuna, mentioning that everything seemed to be in order.

Hana blinked, pulled out of her thought spiral, before exhaling, slightly reassured by the information. It was one of the reasons she appreciated having Setsuna around. she always seemed to know exactly what to say. It almost made her wonder why she wasn't the president despite coming up with the idea. But she seemed more comfortable managing things from behind the scene so the thought never left Hana's lips. Nonetheless, she was grateful. And this gratitude was evident in her face. "I think that is absolutely lovely Setsuna. Thank you. I don't know what I would do without you."

"And thankfully no creeps. But I am certain that we are prepared should one enter, correct?" Hana added with a quirked eyebrow. She had not even thought of such company entering the party. But perhaps that was another sign that tonight was going well.

Click.. Clack.. Click.. Clack.. Noelle made her way up the seemingly unending stairs to their event hall. She was almost going to be late as she had ended her exam last, as usual. Her pale blue eyes blinked rapidly as she was sweating from the exercise that came with the staircase. Her hands grasped onto the railing as she was practically pulling herself up, feeling her cheeks get flustered from the intensity. "My goodness.. these stairs are quite steep. I should've looked for an elevator." She whined to herself just before reaching the top. Noelle was dressed as the 1910's - in a long pink and white dress that went down to her ankles - decorated with lace frilling. She also had on long pink gloves that went to her elbows, and a matching hat with a pink wrap that tied around her head - a bow at her chin. She also fashioned large pink opal earrings and white heels to match her attire.

Eventually, Noelle made it to the mixer both the clubs were holding. She was excited - everyone was going to be dressed up and meeting new possible friends. Even so, Noelle had particular feelings towards the male host club, and she wasn't sure how a friendship between what should be rivals will blossom. In all honestly, she thought of the boys club as enemies more than anything. All in all though, Noelle was mostly excited for the tea and sweets that she could eat - hoping that they would bring along their normal condiments despite the theme they were holding. Her gloved fingers wrapped around the door knob as she pulled on it to reveal everyone who has arrived so far - though she did see a few missing faces such as Honey's and Erena's.

She wiggled her way to approach Hana and Setsuna, who were normally the ones who managed most things the club did. She poked her face from behind her excessively large hat and smiled. She looked for the nearest chair and took a seat to rest from the overexertion earlier. "Ah.. You guys. How is the event looking? Are the snacks here yet?" She asked as she smoothed down her dress so that wrinkles wouldn't form.

KYOUYA OOTORI
AdeptBlackAnemonecrab-size_restricted.gif
Unlike Setsuna, the Host Club's vice president preferred a more hands on approach when working large events. He flitted about the room, his notorious black book tucked neatly under his arm. He worked his way back and forth across the room. Kyouya made sure to greet the clubs regulars as well as the few girls who sometimes requested his presence, though he firmly made himself unavailable at events such as this. It was important to make sure that all of their highly valued guests felt attended to despite the large number of guests in attendance.

Additionally, Kyouya was doing what he did best- selling. He made sure to let regulars know about upcoming paid events and promoted the latest picture book. Kyouya filled many roles in the club and often had to fill them all at once. He was the manager, the vice president, the planner, the marketer, the promoter, and, of course, a host. And when Kyouya found himself with an extra second here or there he made sure to check in with the other hosts to make sure no one needed anything.

The Host Club had a lot more experience in, well, everything compared to the Hostess Club. And that wasn't a way to say that the Hostess Club was inferior or anything of the like. It was just a simple fact. The transition into the next school year would signify the club's second anniversary while the hostesses had only existed for a few months. The experience they had acquired, whether through past success or failure, not only shaped the club into the popular spectacle it was today but also made some of Setsuna's tasks unnecessary. During the Host Club's infancy, Kyouya had done much the same as what Setsuna was doing now. But today the hosts were in their prime. They knew what to do, when to do it, and how best to do it.

Kyouya felt a bit of pride as he watched how smoothly everything was running. The club's guests seemed quite pleased with everything. The hosts were taking advantage of the photographers and showing off their costumes. He took a moment to look over the hostesses. He was genuinely a bit surprised to see how well they were doing. They even had a surprisingly large turn out for only having existed for a few months, though the majority of the event's guests were guests of the Host Club. He glanced at Setsuna, still sitting at her computer, working diligently. He considered stopping her, sharing his wisdom, though he decided that probably wouldn't go over well and kept his mouth shut.

"Mhm." Setsuna nodded, not taking her eyes off of the computer, "Just do a few poses, maybe a peck on the cheek, it'll all work out."

The girl was only guessing of course, she had no way of knowing what Hana's date would actually want from her, but as long as it didn't go beyond a kiss on the cheek or hand holding, which was entirely up to the princess' discretion, they were fine. Speaking of dates, their little lolita, Noelle, hadn't been seen yet. Was she really late to the first event? Perhaps Setsuna just didn't catch sight of her before, because as if on cue, the small girl came trotting over. At this point the entire hostess club was going to be surrounding her and her computer.

With a sigh, Setsuna shook her head, "Of course you're worried about the snacks."

Though, still, the brunette pointed towards a large table in the middle of the courtyard, "I believe the sweet stuff is towards the clock tower, that's where it's supposed to be anyway." Setsuna explained, only to see the time and shoo her hands towards them, "Okay, no more hanging out with me, go find your boys at your set locations. Noelle, yours should be waiting by the fondue fountain, some guy named Haruka."

She looked up to the two girls waiting for them to leave and go do their jobs. Once they finally did leave she let out a sigh of somewhat relief, looking around only to meet eyes with a boy who was making his way towards her.

"And how do I get a date with the hostess club brain?" He smirked, leaning over the table close to her.

With a raised brow, Setsuna tried to be polite, "It's a schedule, love. Unfortunately I'm not reserving spots tonight but-"

He scoffed, cutting her off and grabbing her wrist and trying to pull her up, "Come on cutie, how about a little dance and a couple pictures? You don't want me to spread around how terrible the hostesses treated me do you?"

She was at a loss and in a bit of a pinch, unsure of how to handle the scenario. Setsuna hadn't been through anything like this, not when she was working and had an appearance to uphold.

While Kyouya was still looking at Setsuna, making up his mind not to bother her, he saw a boy walking toward her. As far as Kyouya knew, the other vice president didn't see guests. Kyouya continued to watch, curious as to how she would respond to the boy's advances. But then things turned unexpectedly. The boy, some no name loser, reached out and grabbed her, and it seemed he was trying to drag her off somewhere. Well, that simply wouldn't do. Kyouya moved quickly to cover the distance between himself and the hostess. All of his host charm was gone now. "What do you think you're doing?" He was speaking directly to the boy, his voice liquid ice. His eyes were dark and he seemed to have a shadowy haze emanating from his body.

The Host Club had a wonderful reputation when it came to their charm. They were polite, respectful, and courteous even under the most strenuous circumstances. Even now, acid dripping from his tongue, Kyouya was a perfect member of aristocracy, manners and all. "I believe you've misread this young lady. It seems she wants nothing to do with you." In that moment it was clear as to why he was called the shadow king. Kyouya was glad that this situation was occurring off to the side. He had positioned himself in such a way that his body was in the way of any curious onlookers. "You should be on your way. I wouldn't want to have you removed."

Kyouya stared the boy down, awaiting his response. Even the toughest of students faulted under his glare. And if that didn't do the trick, he was well known in the school. Everyone knew he was an Ootori and the implications of that. To slight the son of such a powerful family would be socially devastating.

"I-" Setsuna began, trying to come back with something both professional and rude, only to be stopped by Kyouya.

Her eyes shot to where the boy stood, a bit in awe as he went at the unknown bothersome boy.

"Uh, I think I'm getting what I paid for when I bought tickets to this party." He scoffed, turning to face the taller man, "A dance with the hottest hostess." He turned back to Setsuna quickly, winking, only to focus back on Kyouya. "Look dude, I know you don't see much action as the smart one in your club, but Setsuna's actually hot, so let up and let her have some fun."

The brunette stood from the table, pulling her hand away from the boy's grasp and taking a step towards Kyouya, "I said no."

Looking between the both of them, it was easy to see that the boy was now ticked off, however, being a freshman he knew anything he'd do to the Ootori boy would be social suicide.

"Whatever," he scoffed, turning away, "Have fun with your little club, I don't need to pay to find a girl anyway."

Setsuna watched him walk away, her hand unknowingly having moved to Kyouya's arm in the midst of the encounter only for her to quickly pull it away.

"Thanks." She whispered, tightening one of her pigtails and looking away, a blush forming on her cheeks.

In all honesty, she was rather surprised to see him jump into action so quickly. Then again, it was a joint party, so it was only natural that he keep things running smoothly. Honestly though, it was surprising how fast he'd seen the boy bugging her, it had only just happened. Had he been watching her? And if so, why?

Haruhi Fujioka

The moment the doors had open, Haruhi was just as attentive towards the customers as her peers and was quick to get into the swing of things. "Hello ladies," She greeted politely, giving them a naturally charming smile as she was swarmed some of her usual customers and even some new faces. She soon found herself in a rhythm and chatting it up with her customers and often pulling in for a photo op. She was having fun, it wasn't hard for her to just act naturally in charming the young ladies and posing with them however they pleased in pictures. She was just finishing a photo with Momoka Kurakano, one of her regulars when she noticed Kyouya rushing over towards something near the outer skirts of the event.

She followed his gaze to see Setsuna standing with some boy who had her by her wrist. She worried and could feel her anger rising at the sight before Kyouya blocked the view of what was going on, promptly dealing with the situation. That was a relief though part of her was ready to help if needed. Once things seemed to deescalate, she turned her attention back to her next customer, trying her best to play her staring off at the situation as her spacing out. "Sorry, it won't be happening again. Especially when you look so cute in that outfit tonight." She said, smiling at her guest kindly with one last glance at the situation to see the assailant stalking away from the situation, leaving Kyouya and Setsuna by themselves. Well that part seemed to be working out in the hostess favor and it made her smile more naturally as she resumed putting all of her attention on her customers. Haruhi would check in later with Setsuna to see if she was really alright but for now she kept it to herself to not draw anymore attention to the situation.

The Princess in a Foreign Land

Hana perked up when she heard a voice beside her, turning only to grin widely upon seeing Noelle, another hostess!

“Noelle! It’s so lovely to see you!” She exclaimed, clapping her hands together enthusiastically. “The night is going wonderfully! Snacks are over there alongside the fondue fountain,” Hana rambled, pointing to one of the tables that indeed was covered in an arrangement of fancy snacks by the likes of which Hana had never seen. But she assumed that if it was ordered by the host club and Setsuna, the guests will hopefully enjoy.

“And if things keep going like this as we attend to the guests who requested appointments with us, it surely will be a success!” Hana ended her excited ramble with the similarly passionate exclamation, a determined grin spreading across her face as she turned to Setsuna.

“If that isn’t too much of a bold claim of course?” She asked quietly, not wanting to make such claims so blindly. Only for Setsuna, who seemed more focused on her computer screen, to mention what she was expected to during the photo shoot.

“A-a peck on the cheek!?” Hana asked, a bit louder then she intended much to her embarrassment yet she couldn’t stop her face from heating up at the thought. Her hand instinctively traveling to her cheek from the thought as she felt her skin heat up underneath it as Setsuna carried on, confirming that she was indeed correct. Yes she was no stranger to kissing or at least the sight of kissing. But to give one so casually. To someone she didn’t know no less.

Did the hosts often have to do this kind of stuff? Was this common?

As if not panicked enough already, Hana found herself tensing upon hearing Setsuna’s announcement, her voice breaking through her thoughts being enough to startle her as she looked at her, wide-eyed and flushed. And for a moment she was silent. Only to catch herself.

She could do this. Yes it was unanticipated. Yes it was new. But if this was expected of a hostess… then it was her job as the leader to do as such. Just as long as it didn’t go beyond that. She hoped. Hana took a deep breath before nodding, standing up.

“Of course Setsuna. Thank you for the information! “ Hana declared, smiling broadly. After all, it was what everyone wanted to see. “And I wish you luck with your guest Noelle! May both of you enjoy the festivities!”

And with that Hana walked off from the table in confident strides. At least they were initially confident. But as she approached the photo booth, she found her steps slowing down, the nervousness apparent in her face once again as she gazed out in the crowd with her hands fidgeting with the fabric of her dress, searching for this Yuki Himotoya while trying desperately to calm herself down.

A quick scan of the room and all seemed fine. It looked like the rather unfortunate incident had gone unnoticed. For the most part. Kyouya did notice Haruhi turning away, leading him to suspect she might have been witness. He would have to confirm with her when the event concluded. It wouldn't make sense to pull her away from her guests. And while Kyouya did hear Setsuna speak, and knew as a host he should provide her with comfort, he had higher priorities in the moment. He would return and address the hostess as soon as he was done. Kyouya was quick to follow the boy, typing quickly on his phone as he went, and stopping the perpetrator just beyond the doors. While every fiber of his being was screaming at him to give in to violence, he took a deep breath and spoke. "You'll need to wait here." Alone in the hallway, Kyouya had no need to save face, no need to put on an act. He couldn't care less what this boy thought of him. "Security will be here momentarily. Do you have your student ID on you? You'll need it."

The situation was reminiscent of a beach trip the club had taken, though the assaulters in that situation had been more afraid than this boy seemed to be. It seemed that while lower class individuals possessed more audacity, it was the wealthy who held the confidence. In this situation, Kyouya needed to keep his guard up. There's no telling what the entitled brat might do if pressured. "Harassment of any type is strictly prohibited at all Host Club events, as well as by Ouran Academy. I do hope your continued enrollment here isn't effected by your...lapse in judgement." Kyouya had power, from both his own reputation and the reputation of his family. It also helped that his uncle, so to speak, was the school's chairman. It was safe to say that Kyouya could make things happen.

While usually Setsuna's observational skills were good enough to notice someone like Haruhi watching the situation, she was so preoccupied with the fact that Kyouya of all people was standing up for her. That boy had touched her without consent and the tall and cool host had come from what seemed like out of no where to protect her, it meant a lot. Before she could really thank him though, he left after the boy, which made her nervous about what he was going to do. With a glance back at the table she followed a bit behind him staying far enough back as not to interrupt but to still see what was going on.

Once the boy got to the hallway he shook his head in annoyance, how dare that damn host embarrass him like that! As if on cue, that damn host appeared again and he nearly jumped, turning to face him with a raised brow.

"Dude, I left the party, okay? What's the point of security if I'm already leaving?" He asked, obviously stressed about being escorted out.

Setsuna watched from behind a column, seeing a small spark in Kyouya's eyes that she hadn't seen before. The boy, on the other hand, looked scared and perhaps he should be. They did call Kyouya the Shadow King after all and while she'd never seen that side of him, she was sure the ones who had were just as scared as this boy.

With a groan, the boy huffed and pulled out his wallet, fumbling through it before pulling out a card and holding it out to him, "Here."

"Excellent." Kyouya took the card and snapped a photo of it. He didn't want to forget any details when he logged the incident at a later time. The boy would officially be added to the list of individuals banned from participation in anything related to or sponsored by the Host Club. "As of now you are officially banned from all Host Club and Hostess Club events." Here Kyouya made a mental note to confirm with Hana and Setsuna that they had a similar list to track unpleasant individuals. It may seem like a tedious undertaking, but if you let bad behavior have a pass, it will continue. With leniency others may believe that it is okay to touch the club members, or anyone for that matter, without their permission.

"I hope you do remember that. A bit of advice- I wouldn't even get within a few meters of any of the hostesses." The silent 'or else' hung on the end of his words. "Such a pity to see that boys like you still exist. An awful shame."

A moment later, as promised, two security officers appeared. Kyouya explained the situation and handed over the boy's identification card. This was truly one of the most tedious parts of his job: security. Now he would have to monitor the situation to completion to ensure justice was dealt accordingly. Such behavior was despicable and should be treated as such. Too many adults seemed to brush aside harassment such as this, claiming it was a mistake or some other nonsensical excuse. Yes, it was a mistake, but that part that was often skipped over was that mistakes have consequences. With this boy's moderate status in society, any punishment for his actions were sure to carry few or no lasting effects, but Kyouya would do what he could.

As the security officers confronted the boy, Kyouya turned to go back into the party. He stopped at the door, taking a deep breath. He adjusted his glasses and fixed his hair, preparing himself to return to being a host. With practice, there quick transitions were easier, but he was no where near the master that Tamaki was. Kyouya checked his phone to see the event wasn't even half over. He sighed, returning his phone to his pocket. "Back to it I suppose..." he muttered to himself, but still hesitated to open the door.

The preparations for the large event, as they were with any large event, had been quite time consuming and Kyouya was starting to feel the taxes the lack of sleep imposed on his mind and body. Part of him wanted to turn around and just head home but he knew that wasn't an option. If this club was going to continue to climb in terms of success, he had to keep working hard. He would show the world, show his father, that a third son could accomplish anything. Plus, he suddenly remembered, he was still going to check on Setsuna.

The boy's jaw practically dropped and Setsuna smiled a bit proudly, happy to hear she wouldn't have to deal with him again. She took a mental note to keep a running tab of anyone who was inappropriate with the girls and had been banned, it was a smart idea for sure.

"All events?" He repeated, "I just grabbed that girl's wrist, hell, I don't even know her name I just think she's hot. Come on, cut me a little slack!"

The boy was nearly begging and Setsuna had to hold in a laugh, it wasn't that she was cruel, however he definitely scared her with how roughly he'd grabbed her. At Kyouya's next words, the boy gulped down his fear, nodding slowly at what wasn't technically a threat but surely sounded like one. Then the security guards came and he realized it was too late for any decisions to be changed or overturned. Setsuna watched in silence as the guards hurried him away and Kyouya took down more information. If nothing else could be said for him, no one could take away how thorough and dedicated he was to his job within the host club.

She watched as he went to the door, was she really just going to stay behind the pillar and not say anything, not thank him? Then, she noticed him stop and she raised an eyebrow. Was something the matter? Whatever it was, it gave her the chance to approach him, and after some silent self-talk, she took it.

"Kyouya," She called, coming out from behind the pillar and walking towards him with a small smile, "Thank you for that. And thank you for seeing it through till he was escorted out, that was really nice of you." She nodded, pressing her lips together awkwardly.

The girl wasn't sure what else to say, but she kept her eyes on him in case he, by chance, wanted to continue a conversation with her. It was a shot in the dark, but it was worth taking, at least to Setsuna.

Then, she came up with a way to at least try and push the conversation a bit further, "Has anything like that happened before?" She asked, cocking her head slightly.

Kyouya was caught a bit unaware as Setsuna stepped out from her hiding place. He quickly 'fixed' his face, masking any lingering signs of irritation or his growing exhaustion. In response to her thanks, he shook his head. "No need. I was simply doing what was required for the situation." He certainly wasn't going to let that creep continue to touch her. And that didn't even start to consider that the incident could have, most likely would have, escalated and damaged the reputation of the clubs and the event. Kyouya knew that seeing something like that would cause the hosts' guests to fear for their own safety, when club events were supposed to be somewhere these girls, or any guests, could relax and not be concerned that they might be assaulted.

"Speaking of seeing it through, I'll pass along his information so you can make sure he doesn't end up interaction with the Hostess Club again in the future," he added. He sort of tuned out the 'really nice of you' part. To his friends, Kyouya being 'really nice' was an absolute joke. The Shadow King didn't get involved unless there was something there for him to gain. And Kyouya had not only accepted but latched on to this sentiment. He wasn't a 'nice' person. Of course, there were some who would disagree with that, namely Haruhi based on past conversations.

When she paused, Kyouya was going to open the door, leading them back into the room, but she spoke again before he could move. Has anything like this happened before? "There have been a few unpleasant incidents. Typically our clientele is almost strictly female. In my experience, girls are more apt to using their words over resorting to anything physical. Any physical confrontations have almost exclusively taken place at large events such as this or at public events," Kyouya explained, adjusting his glasses again. Though, as I said, problems such as this are quite infrequent."

With a primarily male audience, as the Hostess Club would most likely see, things could be quite different. "You may want to consider having security present at future events, or even during regular club time. You could consider hiring older students as the presence of adults may make things uncomfortable. Of course, I will see to increased security for future joint events." Despite Kyouya's experience, he still found new challenges waiting around nearly every corner. The introduction of the Hostess Club was sure to stir things up, and it was already proving to do so.

TAMAKI SUOH
d394559bd3a35ff68faf8f1656e7123f.gif
Tamaki's most recent guests had just finished their getting their photos taken and were pestering Tamaki as to what fun activities were next. Unfortunately, there weren't any others. This trio of girls were more energetic that the majority of Tamaki's regulars and weren't interested in just sitting around and chatting. Tamaki kept his face pleasant and princely while his eyes desperately searched the room for another way to entertain them. He first looked for Kyouya and his stomach sunk when he couldn't find him. Kyouya was the one with all of the answers and he was currently MIA.

His next option was to rely on another host for assistance. Or, in this case, a hostess even. Then it hit him- dancing! That was always a big hit. But how would that work? It didn't seem that they had a sound system at their disposal so that complicated things further. Maybe Haruhi would know!

Tamaki politely excused himself, bowing dashingly to his guests as he hurried over to Haruhi. "Haruhi, may I borrow you for a moment?" he asked, polite and professional. "Do you know if there's some way to turn on music? I was thinking we could start a dance!" Tamaki grinned, quite pleased with himself for coming up with the average, possibly below average, idea, despite the fact he had no way of making it work on his own.

A bit more serious for a moment, he added: "Also, have you seen Kyouya?"

Mentions: Setsuna ( temporarybliss temporarybliss )

Yuki Himotaya thankfully appeared shortly after Hana arrived to the photo booth, recognizing and approaching with a shy smile and thank you for agreeing to take some photos with him. And upon seeing how nervous he was to have a moment alone with her, even if it was for a simple photo shoot, Hana found herself able to turn her focus from her own worries to assuring his. Just as she always had done. And both of them felt calmer by the time the shoot was done. Or at least Hana did for a moment until she was reminded about other guests who asked to share a photo shoot with her.

Thankfully everything went smoothly nonetheless. And no kisses were placed on any cheek. Just smiles, poses, and the occasional kiss placed in the back of her hand which while flustering, still felt part of the norm. Expected. It was nice. Too nice.

Because as relieved as Hana felt as she left one of the photo booths in the corner of the room, giving the people a smile and a wave, there was that thought in the back of her head. If she did something wrong by not following prior instructions. After all, while the thought of giving kisses out in such a manner was uncomfortable for her… was that expected of her? What she needed to do to be considered being seen as a hostess rather then an outsider?

Hana stopped, shutting her eyes and taking a deep breath before her thoughts overwhelmed her. She was in public. She needed to act the part. And at least the guests seemed happy. And the party was still a success. Hana opened her eyes only to see that while the party was still running smoothly, guests were beginning to get bored with the activities at hand. They needed something new.

And they thankfully accounted for such. Hana just needed to check with Setsuna about what was next on the schedule and oh… she… was nowhere to be seen. Hana found her smile growing stiffer as though it was suddenly pasted on as a frantic flurry of thoughts rushed through her head. Oh… oh no.

No she couldn’t panic now. That would make things worse. She just needed to find a solution. Yup. Deal with it one step at a time. Okay first, focus on the bigger problem. The guests yes! And while the guests are distracted with some amusing festivity, she can find Setsuna. Perfect! She just needed to think of some fun festivity. Like… um…

WHY WAS THIS SO HARD?!

That was when a familiar voice grabbed Hana’s attention. It wasn’t Setsuna’s but… Hana turned to the source, spotting Tamaki approaching Haruhi, asking about music and where Kyoya was.

So two people were apparently missing. And they both happened to be the primary planners of this party. Well that was far from comforting! But at least Tamaki’s words held the solution for one of their issues. After all, what was a better way to entertain the guests then with a dance? And starting the music was thankfully something she knew how to do!

“Um… pardon for my interruption, I did mean to eavesdrop, but I heard you two mention wanting to turn on the music,” Hana piped up, approaching the two with a polite smile as she gave the hosts a curtsy.

“While preparing for the party, I went over how to connect our phones to the speaker system with Setsuna alongside ensuring the music was downloaded on both of our devices. Just to be safe,” Hana explained, bringing out her own phone. Never had she thought she would be relieved that she had past experiences with playing music from wireless speakers before she moved to the city but here she was. And with a few taps on the screen of her phone, a soft waltz begun to play from the speakers placed around the ballroom.

And thankfully, from Hana’s view, the guests seemed to brighten up upon hearing the music, some pairs beginning to move to the empty space in the center set out for this very activity while others begun the search for partners. A sigh of relief escaped Hana’s lips as she turned back to the hosts. One issue dealt with. Now for the other. “Unfortunately I don’t have any information on Kyoya-san’s location but if you two would like, I am actually looking for Setsuna right now so I am willing to keep an eye out for him right now while you two enjoy yourselves.”

Haruhi was surprised see Tamaki approach her but given his good mood, he didn't seem to notice the interaction Kyouya had broken up between a guest and Setsuna. "Ah, sure. Please give me a moment ladies." She excused herself politely as she turned her attention to Tamaki to hear out what he wanted to say. "A dance? Shouldn't we ask the girl's permission first?" She asked, raising an eyebrow at the idea. It would make sense if both parties involved agreed since this was a joint event. Personally, her dancing skills were limited to the waltz but that was rusty at best. So it was fair to say she had some reservations about this idea. At his question about Kyouya, she thought for a moment on whether to tell him. Tamaki was over dramatic and telling him about the incident would sour his mood and possibly cause a scene. Kyouya was handling it and she felt comfortable withholding that information unitl later. Before she could answer, the hostess's clubs leader surprisingly interjected.

Haruhi was quick to bow and gave a polite smile back as she greeted her. "Hello Hana-senpai." She greeted formally before listening to her words. "A dance? That sounds like fun!" One of her guest piped up, overhearing the conversation. Ah. She would be roped in to dancing. Multiple times based on the girls looks and reactions from behind her. Of course with Hana's timid nature, she didn't want to show her apprehension about the dance and smiled as the hostess started to play some music. The music seemed to match the mood perfectly of the mixer and encouraged others to start to dance. "Thank you, Hana-senpai. The guests will love this." She thanked, giving her a nod and an appreciative smile. "As for Setsuna and Kyouya-senpai, I think I overheard them talking about something earlier, probably about the mixer. They probably went to a quieter place to talk." She suggested offhandedly, covering for them knowing they were most likely together.

"Well even if it was just what was required for the situation, it was still nice and I'm still thanking you." She retorted with a small smile.

Setsuna was a very stubborn person, no matter how cool she was supposed to be. There was more to her than just that persona and it didn't go unnoticed how different her and Kyouya's versions of 'cool' were. While he was calm, cool and collected she was a flirt with many. Maybe that was what got her into this position in the first place. She really needed to stop playing with peoples' emotions when she was bored, otherwise she really would end up hurt. Then again, that never stopped her before.

It wasn't like this was the first time a guy wanted more than she'd give, luckily the last time was at a family party and someone came in before he could do anything too crazy. This time, it was Kyouya saving her and she was more thankful than he seemed to realize.

He talked about the differences in the guys and the girls' clientele and she only chuckled, "Well of course we are, guys got all the brawn while girls got all the brains." She teased him, unsure of how he'd take it. "That's what my father used to say anyway."

It had been a running joke in her family for years as far as she could remember, and saying it out loud made her smile, even if the sentiment wasn't the best. It was good to know there weren't many issues like these, then again her club may have more due to the mostly male audience.

"I suppose older students will have to do, I'm not doing another damn fundraiser after we had to dress up like cheerleaders." She shook her head, at this point just talking aloud.

While she was sure someone was looking for at least one of them outside, Setsuna surely wasn't complaining about this alone time they had, even if it sprouted from something bad. It wasn't like they were exactly bonding or anything though, and the last thing Setsuna knew how to do was flirt with someone she actually liked! She was unsure of what to say, unsure of how to act, and unsure if she should stay or bring up the fact that they were probably needed at the party.

TAMAKI SUOH

Tamaki had been eagerly awaiting Haruhi's reply when the Hostess Club president appeared, surprising him. He listened, growing more excited as she spoke. So the plan would work! "Oh, excellent! Thank you, Hana-san!" he said gratefully. The gentle music began and Tamaki watched the guests' faces as one by one they noticed the change. Tamaki's attention returned to Hana as she spoke again. So Setsuna was missing too? Tamaki began to get a bit worried but tried not to let it show. It was unusual for Kyouya to be missing in the midst of a Host Club event, and now both vice presidents were inexplicably absent. He was about to respond when Haruhi spoke.

"As for Setsuna and Kyouya-senpai, I think I overheard them talking about something earlier, probably about the mixer. They probably went to a quieter place to talk."

Haruhi's words had a calming effect on Tamaki's worried mind. "Well, I'm sure he's fine then! He would tell me if something were up." Tamaki seemed confident of that fact, though the other hosts probably knew that was far from the case. Kyouya handled a lot of problems quietly behind the scenes.

"Time to dance then!" Tamaki announced cheerfully. His guests appeared behind him, hearts in their eyes as they waiting, anticipation rising. A dance with the host king was quite special, spending the one on one time twirling across the floor. Some guests there weren't currently assigned to him began to flock in his direction as well. Tamaki, not surprising anyone, did not notice the obvious mob forming behind him. "Haruhi! We should dance!"

In the theater of Tamaki's mind he pictured the two of them twirling elegantly as they moved about the room, practically floating on air. And of course, Haruhi was in a gorgeous ball gown fit for a princess. She laughed as they danced, smiling and happy to be in his arms. Tamaki, in real life, gazed off into the distance, a dreamy look capturing his expression.

Kyouya almost smiled as she thanked him again. How silly. In response to her next statement, he did smile just a bit. Ah, the old saying, brains and brawn and all that. "It sounds like your father was a very insightful man," Kyouya mused. Of course, the words themselves were incredibly incorrect, but that was a well known fact. A person's gender had nothing to do with either brains or brawn. But a dedicated father flattering his intelligent daughter, guiding her to hold herself higher? Kyouya felt that was an acceptable use of the falsehood.

"If you do decide to find students to assist you, I can ask Honey-senpai and Mori-senpai to check with the martial arts clubs," Kyouya offered. Normally when thinking protection or security, a person might think of larger, older male student. On the contrary, sports clubs were full of tough, fully capable young women who would fit the role well. "I'm sure they could find suitable recommendations." Kyouya did find the concept of Setsuna dressing up as a cheerleader to be quite funny, though he didn't let it show a bit. Considering her personality, Kyouya could hardly picture the cool type hostess in a frilly outfit such as that. Part of him wanted to ask if they had learned a cheer that they could do now, for the event of course, to tease her, but he didn't want to press her too much after the uncomfortable altercation she was forced in to.

It was then that the faint sound of music began to seep through the closed door. A waltz? Kyouya listened for a moment, wondering if he could recognize the song, before looking back to Setsuna. "It seems our club members have gone off book in our absence." Kyouya was neither bothered nor surprised by the development. If he had to guess, he would have suspected that Tamaki probably had a hand in the deviation from the evening's itinerary. "Though, dancing is far from the worst thing they could have come up with." In truth, dancing was usually a big hit at almost any type of event. The guests loved the one on one attention and physical contact involved with dancing with their favorite host.

A smile. She got him to smile, and with something her father said too. That made her feel good. Setsuna smiled too, feeling a blush coming on as she turned away for a moment in hopes he wouldn't see. Why did she get so flustered around him so easily?! It really was embarassing, especially considering the 'cool' appearance she was supposed to be keeping up. With a sigh, she turned back to face him at his offer of talking to Honey and Mori.

"Really?" She asked, "Yeah, that would be great, thank you Kyouya."

Setsuna then heard the music coming through the doors. Honestly, she was proud of them for finding something to do without the two planners around. Had they really been away that long though? She chuckled softly at his words, taking a step towards the door and tossing her hair behind her shoulder.

With a grin, she shrugged, "Doesn't seem too bad, sounds like people are enjoying themselves. Plus, we haven't heard any screams, so I'd say the off book thing is working for now."

She added the 'for now' part just in case things did decide to go South later on, but for now it seemed like they were good. Besides, Kyouya seemed to think dancing was a good idea. Did he like dancing? She raised a curious brow and glanced down at his hand for a moment, taking a deep breath before grabbing it and grinning.

"Well then let's dance Mr. Vice President." She suggested, leaning back against the door, "You and I have already fulfilled our obligations for the night, and we can keep an eye on things from the dance floor."

Setsuna wasn't pleading by any means, but she was making it harder for him to say no. After all, a rejection from Kyouya might kill her on the spot.

KYOUYA OOTORI
kyouya surprise to smile.gif
Kyouya had not expected this turn of events: Setsuna had taken his hand in her own and asked him to dance with her. In the few seconds following the action, Kyouya thoroughly deconstructed the situation. He could think of four possible reasons for the hostess's actions. The first and most apt to the current circumstance was that she was appreciative that he had assisted her. That was definitely possible. Next, she could be being polite. It was fairly common at a dance for people to, well, dance. Third option was that she, as the vice president of the Hostess Club, was making a show of good faith by offering a dance. So far, these all seemed reasonable. The last reason was far more complicated. Setsuna could have asked Kyouya to dance, as many girls ask many boys, because they are romantically interested in him.

Despite identifying these possibilities, Kyouya still only found two possible solutions, regardless of the reasoning behind Setsuna's request. He could politely decline, but that choice would likely cause tension between them in the future. And of course the correct answer to her question was yes. Also being the easier of the two answers. Kyouya decided to keep a closer eye on her in the future as he returned to his role as host.

Kyouya bowed slightly, sliding her hand to the crook of his arm. "Of course, Miss. Vice President. I would be honored."

With his free hand, Kyouya opened the doors and lead the way into the room. Pairs of students danced across the floor as the soft waltz continued to play. This was not how the event was supposed to go, but Kyouya would still be considering it a success. While his primary focus was the guests of the Host Club, it seemed that all of the students in attendance were smiling and enjoying themselves.

Haruhi Fujioka

Haruhi watched as a crowd of girls swooned over the chance to dance with Tamaki, even some of her clients joining in on the opportunity. Tamaki's popularity was boundless it seemed. "Sorry senpai, we have an obligation to dance with our clients." She turned down, more blunt than intended though she didn't notice that. "You have so many beautiful women that want to dance with you, why do you want a dance with another host?" She added, with a small laugh before turning to her own small crowd forming. It wasn't nearly as big as Tamaki's crowd but it was enough to intimidate her a bit. She didn't want to step on anyone's feet but if she didn't do something, she'd almost certainly ruin a few girls nights. "I apologize but I will only be able to dance with one girl tonight, I'm a bit rusty and I don't have experience with these types of things that often." She announced with a sheepish smile, rubbing the back of her neck.

Instead of the disappointment she expected, what came next were a lot of kind offers to help her improve and guide her. "Really? But I don't want to step on anyone's feet and what if you guys get hurt? I can't ruin your nights like that." She turned down sheepishly, only earning more squeals and cooing from the girls. One of her earlier guests, Momoka Kurakano, approached with a shy smiled and a blush. She reached her hand out, offering it to the host. "I don't mind letting you practice on me." she offered, growing redder at her own words. "Are you sure? Your pretty dress and your shoes might get dirty." Haruhi asked though accepting her hand as to not be rude. The flustered girl could only nod and Haruhi gave in with a sigh and a smile. "Okay, let's go." She accepted simply and led Momoka to the dance floor.

She couldn't believe she found the balls to ask him, but even more so, she couldn't believe he said yes! Well, maybe she could. After all, his whole thing was being polite and treating girls kindly, and it wasn't like there was a reason for him to say no to her, they were on good terms after all. She was overthinking the whole thing and she really needed to stop. Maybe she could just flirt with him like she did with the other guys, when she looked up at him though, her knees practically buckled beneath her and she realized that wasn't a viable option.

Damn.

It was a silent thought, but easily could've been said aloud had Kyouya not been speaking. She smirked slightly at his words, following his lead out into the group of people dancing. It was quite a different scene than they'd left, but still, it seemed to be going well minus that guy who messed with her. And he wasn't going to be a problem anymore, at least, she hoped not.

"Honored, hm?" She raised a brow, turning as she placed a hand on his shoulder, "I do believe that should be how I'm feeling considering who you are and what you just did for me, Kyouya."

He had to know there were girls that were only after him because of his status, but Setsuna didn't care much about that stuff. She'd been raised with money and enjoyed the privileges of it, but it wasn't something she required to live a happy life, she didn't think it was anyway. She guessed it wasn't really something you knew until you were an adult and- She was overthinking again.

With a groan she quickly froze, trying to laugh it off before patting the boy's shoulder playfully, "Just, uh, thinking about that nuisance of a boy from earlier, sorry."

God, Setsuna was bad at this. But she had no idea why! Any other guy she would be the smoothest there was and have them begging for a night with her in an hour, but for some reason she could barely even form words around this one. Her eyes met his for a moment before quickly turning her head to look around the room and smiling slightly.

"At least everyone seems to be having a good time," She exhaled, "even if things didn't go completely according to schedule."
