Hong Kong, 2032
In 2025, as a response to increased land prices in Hong Kong and an influx of refugees from the nearby Shenzhen, the government has begun to reconstruct the Kowloon Walled City as the Kowloon Arcology. It was intended to be a refuge for people to live, a self contained community that would be affordable for the large number of people in the region. It was heralded and lauded as a solution to a humanitarian crisis, and a new era for Hong Kong.
However, the arcology quickly fell into a lawless zone. Police patrols would be ambushed in the narrow alleys, crime lords began to extort residents, illness became endemic, and overpopulation soon set in.
You are involved with the operations of a CIA station established within Kowloon. As of the last week, the Chinese Ministry of State Security has deployed a special forces team into the arcology. The government claimed this would be "to clear out crime" and "restore order." However, that was soon proven to be a lie when a CIA Analyst was killed in his apartment and his laptop seized. The laptop contained information on various agents embedded within China, Hong Kong, and North Korea. If the encryption is cracked, your cover is blown. As a result, Langley has recalled you. Unfortunately, due to it being a Hot Zone, they can not evacuate you directly.
A message is sent to the station, it's very simple, but reads:
Your orders:
Escape the Kowloon Arcology. Get to a waiting ship at Victoria Harbor.
Survive.
A roleplay inspired by the like of Aliens, The Dark Pictures: House of Ashes, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, and Shadowrun: Hong Kong. This follows the idea of a group of trained professionals taking on something beyond what they're trained for. Not only are enemy agents hunting you down within the tight walls of the arcology, but so do ghosts, never put to rest and trapped within the walls of the arcology. The goal is to escape the Walled City and then get to safety in Victoria Harbor using whaever means at your disposal.
I set it in 2032 so we can have some leeway with some futuristic technology such as drones and other technology. Also i don't plan for the entire RP to be set in the Arcology.
