History

First Age

The population of this fetid planet has always been slim. Long ago, dragons ruled over the skies and the land. Using their human slaves as entertainment and food, they shaped monuments and structures in their own image, asserting their control over the world. Humans were breeded simply for slavery and meals. But the dragons had made a single, minor mistake.

They allowed five individuals to escape their reign. All at once, these mortals were released and forgotten. A few scraps of food had left the table. The dragons knew that they would not cause too much harm; simply hiding among the caves which they already reside. Though dragons were the masters of combat and the magics of their own design, they did not realize that it could be mastered by a mere few humans.

Ozgiliath the Stalwart, the first of the free, had learned to master the craft of heat and metal, transforming ore and rock into weapons and armor. The eldest of the five, he held his greatsword in hand, made purely of the mithril he learned to mold.

Garen the Just, the Herald of Faith befriended the other forgotten creations of the dragons. Using hair of the horse and bone of the bird, he constructed the first bow, which he skillfully used to take down his enemies. Bearing more than two hundred arrows of bone, he stood prepared to kill all those who met his path.

Anastasia, Lady of the Dark, was the first to master any magic created by the dragons. Mastering the mysteries of death and shadow, she could manipulate the darkness around her, becoming an avatar of the night.

The Lovers Kalyon and Yuna, the first to freely love, both followed their own paths of war. Kalyon, master of the flame, used the dragon's legendary breath of fire for his own purposes. Yuna, however, weilded daggers designed by Ozgiliath, though she redesigned and used them for her own purposes. Mastering the art of close combat and stealth, she and Kalyon became a devastating team.

Rising against the dragons who control this realm, they fought against the immortal beasts of old. Ozgiliath wielded his weapons with skill, his armor as sure and as thick as the scales of the dragons. Garen struck the flying beasts with gargantuan arrows, piercing their eyes. Anastasia darkened the realm which they fought, giving their allies the advantage as she controlled such evil to dispatch the powerful drakes. Kalyon used the flames of the monsters against them, causing them to burn from the inside. Yuna, having gained such an advantage, dispatched the bewildered drakes with ease.

Striking down the dragons, the five saved masses of enslaved men and women, teaching them their arts. Destroying the threat, they reclaimed the world in the name of the Five.

In the end, the dragons were all but extinct. The remaining few hiding in the ruins of their once perfect world. With such power gained, the five ultimately became immortal as the dragons; the only thing that could possibly kill them is the threat of murder. But with their skill and power, none would oppose them.

Second Age

Hundreds of years past, and with each passing decade, the five became more and more insane with power and war. Their nation fell apart, being replaced by a world of disease and strife. The five continued to keep their reign over the world, but without any assistance from the rulers, humanity fell. The citadel which they spent so long to create became an asylum; a requiem of mourning.

Most of the population died off, replaced by vile monsters and beasts which took claim over the kingdom. The five drastically changed, helping to turn the world into such a wasteland.

Garen fell into madness, falling into the forests to learn about the beasts and monsters who lived there. In the end, no one is sure if he is living or dead. However, some say that they can hear murmurs of laughs in the forest.

Anastasia became consumed by her power, despising the day. Hoping to block out the sun, she created an army of demons and beasts of death to kill enough of the populace to gain the sacrifices required to gain such power. Wielding the fierce power of shadow and death, she killed more humans than could be counted.

Kalyon and Yuna slowly separated from one another, Kalyon maddened by his power. He wanted to defend his lover, to show her his purpose, his passion, but she refused. She was afraid. In furious anger he burst forth in flame, and left her presence. Out of rage, he destroyed the citadel of Hylarra, and killed any who crossed him. He now sits in his realm of ash, trembling from suffering and turmoil. The love of his life is gone, so all should feel his wrath. As for Yuna, she went into hiding, living among those that her allies now seek to kill.

Ozgiliath remained the leader of the people, forcing a small faction to fight by his side. His knights now serve him indefinitely. With such madness infused with his desire for order, he kills any who fails him, replacing his lost soldiers with threatened survivors.

Rules

1) No Godmodding. Half of this games purpose is to be both depressive and difficult. Powerful characters CANNOT be killed in only a few rounds.

2) Refrain from too much language and/or sexual description. Keep these PG-13 at maximum, please.

3) I don't care about violence description, so have fun with it.

4) If I don't like your class for whatever reason, I will tell you. If I want you to modify something, please, do so.

5) Romance is wonderful and desired! However, romance between two characters should take a
lot of time to develop, please.

Character Creation

Here's the catch; I want you to make up your own class. Look over the current history, play with the magic and the different factions and possibilities. However, your goal should be simple; to survive, and to help other survivors.

Skelly -

Name - (Any decent name works fine)

Age - (Not too young, unless others are choosing rather older ages)

Class - (Name the class whatever you want! Have fun with it)

Gender - (Male or female, clearly)

Strengths - (Are you good with a weapon? Magic of sorts? Bow? Shield? Diplomacy? Negotiation? Your strengths should be as good as your Weaknesses are crippling)

Weaknesses - (These could be possible mutations, physical or mental weaknesses. Is your character easily tempted by lust or greed? Is he/she easily swayed by a lover or an enemy?)

Appearance - (Pictures are best, but description is preferred if you want to be more detailed)

Personality - (I would rather you not say simply; "depressed, bad-ass, and serious." BE CREATIVE AND ORIGINAL)

History - (Your history and class background/information should be here, along with any motivation or revealing features)

Name: Vralik "Girard" Estenheim

Age: 23

Class: Dragon Knight

Gender: Male

Strengths: Powerful fire magic, great stamina, unimaginable strength.

Weaknesses: beastial tendencies*, Easy to lose sight of long-term goals when presented with short-term

Appearance: http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQAhkRGIyZZzsKh9QMpR_4Q2Dkk-C7wDybQI8x2dLtWI0WD0gcX

Personality: Quick to anger, protective, kind to those he knows.

History:

-Class: Dragon knights rose up over the last several decades, as a new breed of warrior. As humanity's leaders became corrupt and twisted, many sought power that could match them. A few look to the lords even older than their current mad leaders . . . the dragons. So it was that the first of the dragon knights imbibed and bathed in dragon blood, forever changing their very souls. These warriors were stronger and tougher than a normal human, commanded a mastery of fire magic that would normally take years upon years of study, and could even take on partial features of dragons with enough training. Such power did not come without a cost however, as every new knight is taught, "Thy greatest enemy is within thine own soul." Each dragon knight holds the blood of a dragon within them, and it will not hesitate to try and take over the human blood, given the chance. Thus is the creed of dragon warriors, "If our greatest enemy lies within, all other foes will lie broken."

Personal: Vralik is an unusual dragon knight. He was not initiated at any kind of ceremony, he was not taught by any master . . . he was created by chance, and taught himself. Growing up in the shadows of the mountain, it was not unusual to hear a faint cry every now and again from them. What was unusual, was when Vralik entered the mountains at the mere age of 15. He found someone . . . or some would say someTHING. A very old dragon, covered in wounds and on his last breath. Vralik had been taught all his life that dragons were the very embodiment of evil . . . and yet . . . he could feel nothing but pity for the once-grand creature in front of him. He approached the dying creature with a mixture of fear and curiosity. The dragon, being old and weak, saw a small spark in the human brave enough to come toward him unarmed. For the first time in ages, he spoke with a human being. He asked the young man if he would listen to his life's tales as he died, for it would be nice if someone could know of his life before he passed on. Vralik, against all he had ever known, sat and listened. He listened of battles long fought and lost, of times that had passed, of the fall of the human's leaders. In his last breath, the dragon thanked Vralik, giving his name as Girard. Vralik knew only one thing at this point, he would not let the legacy of such a creature fall into nothingness, and partook in the blood of such a beast. It was a painful process, lasting hours upon hours as his human body fought to adapt to the strength of the creature. When all was said and done, Vralik opened his eyes, and could feel the power of the beast inside him. He has wandered ever since, helping humanity where he can, and spreading the power of the once-glorious dragons.

*Vralik's beastial tendencies are somewhat different from the norm, given his connection to the creature he partook of. While he will go into a more primal fits of rage, sometimes Girard's personality will come through, possessing some of the creatures wisdom

Luka , basically the entire point is for you to read over the History and build a class from what you have available.

Are you an Archer like Garen? A Knight like Ozgiliath? A necromancer like Anastasia?

Be creative, throw some things in there, and I'll look it over. However, things you should be wary of;

The Dragons are all but extinct. Taking power from them is impossible, because they are quite literally no where to be found.

Your strengths must be equal to or weaker than your weaknesses. If you have prowess in a melee weapon, cause your character to crumble under the might of Ozgiliath. Name the class "Knight of Ozgiliath." The entire point is to choose whatever strength(s) you want, and then overcome your weaknesses to succeed with your strength(s) alone.

The more strengths/weapons you have, the more weaknesses you must have as well. And your weaknesses must cripple you.

(I know its not great but I hope its okay)

Name - Luka(Anka)

Age - 21

Class - Flamist=a type of magic that allows the user to blow life into flames and give them various properties. The users of fire magic are called "Flamist", and using their physical strength as fuel they can create all kinds of flames, ones used in our everyday life for cooking or for making lights and other specialized for battles.

Gender - Female

Strengths - She can manipulate fire and create it. She is OK with a sword; not all that great.

Weaknesses - The fire on her eye(Seen in appearance) if it goes out she will be too weak to fight. Water in general hurts her really, but only when she is using her fire other than that water has no effect on her body;other than her eye. It is hard for her to control the fire because she has only been using the fire for 3 years and most of the time Luka is to scared to use it but Anka isn't.

Appearance - --------------------VVVVVVV----------------------

Luka=View attachment 10493

Anka=View attachment 10494

Personality - Due to her eye Luka is more outcasted than wanted around. It has driven her insane. Her mental stability is hanging by a thread. She does have a split personality. This only happens when the thread breaks. Her split personality goes by the name of Anka. When she cracks and her personality turns into Anka the flames and her hair turn green.

History - When Luka was small she liked to play in the woods by her home and get into trouble. She was met by a dangerous fire sorcerer. He cursed Luka with the fire. From that day until she was 14 her left eye would be in pain so she would keep it shut. When she turned about 14 her eye burst in to a bright blue flame and when it would go out she would become weak or pass out. When she turned 18 her father angered her about moving away because of her eye was causing a distraction apron mod people where they lived. He called her a freak and she burned him alive. This caused her to begin to go mad; creating Anka to take the place of her rage. She took off after that and wandered alone for awhile. She now roams on the outskirts of the main city.

Okay. Here it is. Character creation, take TWO.

Name: Relius (Rey) Vurrein

Age: 22

Class: Hellfire Adept

Gender: Male

Strengths: Powerful magic, very knowledgable

Weaknesses: Sister* (See history). While he is physically capable, Relius is mostly agile, he is not very strong, and not durable by any means. If magic fails him, a solid blow will likely leave him very injured

Appearance: http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRo9pi61gw64MEcovCTvjxlv0zpAAKB5F0G72CyoCc4OcYdm7sE

(Please ignore the blade hilt)

History: Class: The hellfire adept has mastered the simple practice of flame magic and shadow magic, but that is not what defines them. Rather, it is a unique element they control known as "Hellfire". This flame is composed of both fire and shadow, and feeds not on material fuel, but the pain and dark emotions of sentient beings. Hellfire adepts often utilize their own pain to power these spells, and will then in turn feed off their opponent's.

Personal: Relius was born to a rather poor family, always trying to make ends meet. However, despite the hardship faced, they were happy together. Of course in this world, such a thing was not meant to last. It began with suspicion, then rumors, then flat out accusation. Someone was harboring evil as the world went to hell, the village needed a scapegoat. It didn't matter how ridiculous or untrue it was, the poor family on the outskirts was laid to flame. Relius, who had been outside when it started, ran back home as soon as possible. At the screams of his family burning alive, he let out a primal sound none had heard before . . . or would again, as the fires leapt from the building to those who had started it. Black faces of omens and pain mixed in with the massacred of burning flesh and blood, and Relius fell to his knees while all those around him burned to death. When he dug through the rubble that was left, he found three things. First: Both of his parents were dead, burned beyond recognition. He buried them as best he was able. Second: His sister was still alive, her legs had been burnt to the point where they were no longer usable, but by the good graces of whatever higher powers may be she suffered no permanent damage beyond that. Third: . . . it was loyal follower of Garen's who had incited the suspicion, and a demon of Anastasia's who had spread the evil in the first place.

In this hell of a world, Relius cursed the existence of those who had once saved them. He did not care how long it would take or what his soul might go through . . . the five would pay in blood. He left his sister Niana with there aunt and uncle, making them promise to lay low. They would keep her safe, and never speak of his existence again. He visits occasionally, to see Niana. She is the only one capable of making him forget his pain temporarily, making him unable to call upon the hellfire he uses to dispatch foes. In some cruel irony, being around her removes his most potent weapon to protect her. So he stays away, going by "Rey" and seeking the destruction of the five

(Hope that's a little more balanced and in-tune with the world)

Both of your characters look okay. However, there are some changes I want to make, and there's something that I need you both to know;

You. Are. Weak.

No one is more powerful than the five. You have to make yourself much less powerful than they are. This game is all about being the underdog.

The world is dying. In no way are you a powerful being, slayer, or descendant of anything powerful. You have not survived on skill or power; simply luck alone. Many more powerful than you have died by simple means, and you might be next (however, I really do enjoy the concepts for both of your characters. I have a thing for dark back stories and twisted personalities.)

@Luka , I enjoy your history/character. However, modifications; with the story line, it would make more logical sense if your character sacrificed her life and/or sanity (by some means) to become what she is. Simply being born with it sounds ridiculous unless a parent or someone cursed her as an infant (which would make for an interesting back story, I suppose).

Also note that it would take you time to master any of your abilities. And it would most likely be painful to use any form of pyromancy at any time, saying that it comes from within you (by some regard).

@Ixidor92 , *sigh*

Magic is a skill, not a gift. You have to learn it.

Pyromancy is a form of magic. Necromancy is a form of magic. Hellfire... can be used, I suppose. A combination of both. However, you would need years to master both of them enough to manipulate them how you do. And even then, you would have only a basic understand of both fire and shadow. They are art forms, not random powers.

In conclusion; magic needs to be learned over several years (if not decades). The only way one could attain such power early is if they incited a ritual or cursed themselves, but their weaknesses would thus outmatch their strengths.

Example; say you pull of some ritual to give yourself the ability to use fire. The ritual would also require creating a flame inside of you, making it painful to use any of your abilities, and causes you to live a much shorter life, as the flame is slowly burning you inside out.

Keep these things in mind. No one is born with power. Power is taken.

This happened when he was pretty young, around 12. The hellfire sort of "Inflicted" him that night. He has spent the last decade mastering magic. I suppose I should add to his weaknesses this though:

-The pain of hellfire is constantly within his soul. He has to live with it every day, and as such is very weak to other forms of pain. Niana is the only one who can relieve this at all, but he must avoid her to protect her.

... That would be great if Hellfire was actually a form of magic. Sorry man.

Even if it was a form of magic, I'm sad to say that it wouldn't randomly choose someone as a host.

Well, try to think less about making a new concept, and start working on a concept that matches the storyline. I'm not really sure what else to say.

I hope that your character is perfect when you create him/her.

Okay, before I make a third character that gets shut down because it doesn't fit into the mythos, when it says Garen befriended the other creations of the dragon, was that in something of a literal sense? As in, could one learn to communicate with more primal animals?

RobinDenstro I changed somethings... Everything i added or changed is underlined

Let me know what you think.

Luka , I definitely like where you went with the character. However, I keep seeing run-on-sentences in your history/character sheet. I'm kind of a grammar nazi at heart :D

Ixidor92 , He did not actually communicate to the animals, though he went relatively mad about how they did things. He kind of mapped out what they did/do in his head.

This hawk with black tipped wings flies four miles an hour south-west on Tuesday, this bear lunges forward when attacking a crowd but backs away against a person wielding a weapon, this particular breed of bird has a strange fear for charcoal, *scribbles down notes mindlessly*

The man is insane. However, because of his deep study, he has become the ultimate forest walker, allowing him to escape from sight. He also has the ability to use animal tactics such as the fox's scavenging and the snake's quick snapping attacks to his advantage.

(See what I did there? Weaknesses, and Strengths. He is insane and mentally unstable, probably hasn't slept in years, but he has the ability to breath with the forest)

However, note, people haven't seen him in decades. No one knows what happened to him after he suddenly vanished.

RobinDenstro Sorry :P I'm not tat good with putting commas and things like that where they go V.V

Luka It's understandable, if that's what you mean. Anyways, if you want to continue this conversation, lets do it with private messages. I don't want to junk up the thread too much.

Also, on a side note, I still need to make a character! I'll try to do that shortly.

Okay. Take three. I really hope this one works.

Name: Fang (no family name known)

Age: Unknown (looks to be in his early twenties)

Class: Wild one

Gender: Male

Strengths: Stronger than normal, unbelievably quick reflexes, fast on his feet, animal knowledge, beastial rage*

Weaknesses: He has lost a great deal of his speech capacity, keeping only a very base knowledge of the human language. He also has lost just about all of his knowledge with regard to cities and villages, only the wild places. He also is rather simple, relying on instinct as opposed to planning. Beastial rage*

Appearance: http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQtVwpA4_VLbLvQpfrR5lvD5tq4wPi4Og4CxD38T1txc_hv949g

(Without the sword, and with only worn leather clothing)

Personality: Curious, patient when he needs to be but impatient at any other time, naive, simple, tenacious.

History: A family murdered. Seemingly without any survivors. The couple, young and just starting to forge their own way, and two sons, both just starting to see the world. Unbeknownst to those present, one of the children survived. Eleven years old, he found himself dropped into the thick of a forest. His memories beforehand are extremely blurry, as all he can remember of that time is him running and hiding. He was the prey, and everything in the forest wanted to kill him. But as days dragged on into weeks . . . one thought broke through his subconscious, into his terrified mind. *SURVIVE*. And he did. He learned the ways of the forest, leaving behind the tenants of mankind. He slowly rose up through the food chain, until lone wolves and even bears had to fight him for a kill. His mind now has fallen into a more primal state. He remembers words, but not why he would need to use them, in this world where fist and claw decides everything. Well . . . not everything. He feels some connection with the small ones of the forest, as he was once the prey as they were. He helps them when he can, and sometimes . . . they help him in turn. He has been known to lose himself when the small ones are injured.

*When something he cares about is hurt or killed, Fang will go berserk. The mental barriers in his mind are shut down, allowing him to utilize 100% of the human body's strength. This increases his speed and power dramatically, but his body is torn up in the process (broken bones, torn muscles, etc.). He also completely loses the ability to distinguish between friend and foe. Small animals are the only thing free of his rampage, and even once his initial target is killed, he will continue until he tires out or something snaps him out of it (former is far more likely)

Name - Dorian Altrayus

Age - 34

Class - Guardian

Gender - Male

Strengths - Dorian wields an axe in his right hand and a shield in his left. Rather defensive, he has covered himself with armor to hide his distorted features and to protect him from harm.

Weaknesses - Burned and disfigured, Dorian will become easily tempted by a woman who promises love. More than anything, Dorian wants to be cared for. Along with this, his armor restricts him from quick movements, causing him to be susceptible to traps and arrows.

Appearance - View attachment 10541View attachment 10544

Personality - Rather protective of others, to the point of being sacrificial. Though he has created his fighting style and survival tactics around being defensive and away from harm, he would likely stick his neck out if it meant the safety of others. Also, he has a bit of an odd sense of humor, and will probably laugh to the lamest jokes.

History - When he was young, his siblings would always be fascinated by wonderful stories about men and women going on adventures, slaying monsters, and rescuing damsel's in distress. Every night their father would bring them into his room and read them all a story from his shelf or from his memory, and on occasion he would simply make them up as he went along. All of them loved to hear their dad's stories, but Dorian only liked one.

It was about a soldier. A lone soldier who was the only survivor of the great "Giant War" as his dad would like to call it. The man fought bravely with his comrades, but in the end, he was the only one left alive. Everyone was overjoyed about the fact that they had won the war, but the soldier was sad, because everyone he tried to defend was dead. In the story, their father would explain how the soldier would spend hours in the fields of battle, remembering every comrade that died before him. Though one day, the soldier heard a call in the distance. Running towards it, he found a girl, being attacked by a foul beast. In the end the soldier slew him, and took the girl back to the city. It was a story about bravery, about turmoil, and about retribution. In the end, the soldier did save someone after all. And Dorian only wished that he was the soldier in that story.

When Anastasia began attacking the people, Dorian was 26. He and his family left their small town and traveled directly towards the main city for protection, as so many others were already doing. They walled themselves into the city for several years before Kaylon attacked the citadel. Dorian was one of the few to face him and survive. Not out of skill, but purely out of luck. Kaylon had burned his face, causing Dorian to fall to the ground. Kaylon, not caring if he was alive or dead, continued forward into the fray. Dorian lied still for many hours afterwards.

As Dorian finally rose from the ruins, a horrible light was emitting from the palace. Dorian could only imagine what was happening there. Looking around, Dorian could only see death, and destruction. Those who still lived were screaming from the pain. Those that had died only remained to be charred heaps. He then spent the next week searching the area around the palace, trying to find his family. Three he found dead, the others he could only presume to be so. As was the soldier, Dorian was alone. And as such, he left, covering his face so that no one could see his disfigured form.

@Ixidor92 This character actually looks pretty good! Just, don't kill any of the party members if you can help it.

I think we can start the role-play with just the three of us. What do you guys think?

Anyone notice that we have the medieval Avengers set up here?

Captain America (me)

The Hulk (Ixidor92)

Iron Man (Luka)

Sorry, random things humor me. Anyways, we could definitely use one more.

Except that I did not really add a form of light/thunder magic. Herm... well, it's not really my job to create a character that matches Thor, as I already made a character. Hopefully we will have a fourth amigo jump in, but they don't actually have to be a Thor type character.
