Futuristic Reach for the Stars

I'm behind that abnormally large mouse.
This is the next age of exploration. We have come a long way since exiting the Sol system, and we've left our original home far behind. We haven't achieved faster than light travel, but we come pretty close at approximately 260,000 kilometers per second. We haven't colonized even two sectors yet, but the nation plans for 2 more sectors colonized in the next year. We haven't achieved peace, but we have achieved unity. Our destiny is to span the stars, just like the Europeans of earth colonized the Americas so long ago.


We have built factories, cities, shelters, bases, enormous platforms hanging in nothingness. We are the Federation, and we have united the area humans control under one nation. We import and export everything from oxygen to uranium to colonies everywhere. We are the law, the politicians, the workers, the beggars, the scientists.


We will defend the Federation to our last breath, a shield against all threats, alien or human. We are the Starlight, and we are the hammer of the Federation, wrapped in the armor of the military. We fight the battles that must be fought, we guard those who must be guarded, we watch those who must never face the light again.


We are the holy, those who strike against evil and injustice. We are the Black Cross, and we will purge those who will not speak out for what is right in holy fire. We are the avengers, the purifiers, the crusaders of old. It is our destiny to put down those who will not become one with the universe as we know it. We are our own destiny.


We become the dead men, the convicts, the traitors, the murderers. We know what we are, and we like what we do. We are Darkness, here to wreak havoc upon those idiots who call themselves the Federation. If there is one thing we love, it is destruction, death, and suffering. We were once the prey, now we are the predator.


We go where nobody else will go, do what nobody else will do. We give a helping hand to those who need it. We are the Aces, and those who can afford our services get the best goods in the known sectors. If not for us the Federation would still be boosting up it's starting colonies, and be helpless against the Black Cross and Darkness.


~Rules~


No godmodding, little-no romance, etc.


PVP is allowed, but ask before you kill or seriously injure a persons character/ship(Killing off all the NPC ships in their fleet is allowed.)


Most of this is going to be in space, but being on planets/space stations is allowed.


Yes, you have to be human, and no, there are no known sentient alien life forms other than humans that have been discovered yet.


~Information~


(To pick for nationalities)


Federation (Main peaceful nation, mostly civilians, not many combat ships)


Starlight (Federation military, often clashes with Black Cross and Darkness)


Black Cross (Extremist terrorist organization, somewhat larger than Darkness)


Darkness (Terrorist group, known for attacking large cities and military bases)


Aces (Private trading company, not many combat ships, but many transports)


(Ships) When giving information about a ship, be sure to include all armaments and equipment, and if the name is not self-explanatory, then give a description of what it does.


~Shields: There are 6 types of shields: Energy, Graviton, Positron, Neutron, Ray, and Kinetic. Each has its strengths and weaknesses, which are listed.


Energy has no particular strengths or weaknesses, making it the most commonly used shield.


Graviton shields work best against missile weapons, and strong graviton shields can ocassionally deflect missiles. Graviton shields are weak against lasers.


Positron shields work best against energy and beam weapons, though they offer little to no resistance against projectile weapons.


Neutron shields are almost as balanced as energy shields, and offer a bit more protection against all types of laser weapons and all types of projectile weapons. Plasma however, will decimate neutron shields.


Ray shields will obliterate all types of projectile weapons, and are handy at stopping boarders as well. However, ray shields will crumble when assaulted with beam weapons.


Kinetic shields are your best friend when it comes to stopping plasma, and provide decent resistance to both energy and projectile weapons. They provide no resistance to boarders though.


~Weapons: Weapons are classified into three categories, and two of those have subcatagories. There are Projectile, Energy, and Plasma.


Projectile weapons are divided into the subcategories of Missile, Cannon, and Torpedo.(Missiles are drastically different from torpedoes, so don't get confused.)


Energy weapons are divided into the subcategories of Lasers, Beams, and Fusion Rays.


Missile weapons usually pack an explosive charge, ripping huge holes in ships.


Cannon weapons are automatic or burst fire, therefore great for cutting down enemy crew and equipment.


Torpedoes are slow and will tear through ships, sometimes carrying explosive ordnance such as sleeper bombs.


Energy weapons are divided into the subcategories of Lasers, Beams, and Fusion Rays.


Lasers will do quite a bit of damage on a direct hit, and can disrupt some types of shields(Graviton and Ray), but little to no damage if they make only a glancing blow.


Beams require constant contact, but if held they can break through any shield and/or hull with time, though proper reflective panels can be a serious hazard for anyone equipped with beam weapons.


Fusion Rays are very powerful, will cut through any shield that attempts to offer resistance(other than the Neutron shield, which takes a bit longer). The problem is that fusion rays are highly expensive and can only be fitted on fighters/bombers or capitals/titans.(Which basically means that I am not going to let you have a fusion ray unless you are severely underpowered without it.)


Plasma is very strong, and will burn through just about anything if it gets through a ship's shield.
