Samurai and Ninjas. Long have they been revered in history. Always mistaken as allies or even the equal clans. But that is wrong. Samurai are proud, strong warriors. Ninjas were fast, deadly assassins. They have a powerful resentment for each other, both of them believing the other's ways are against the gods.

Don't start until I or ShadowWang posts first.
Ishiran was watching from a field, looking toward where they believed the ninjas to be.

"Damn them...We'll get them all." Ishiran swore.

Renji walked up next to him.

"Want some tea sir? It's freshly made." Renji coaxed, cheerful.

Ishiran glared at him and turned away. "Act more serious. This is no time for you cheerfulness.

Renji grinned and drank the tea.

Star looped her arm through Renji's, and smiled. She was back from the ninja camp, but just for a few days. Everytime she went back to the Samurai with more information, the Ninjas just thought she was getting information about the Samurai for them.

She always brought back complete bull.

Renji grinned at Star.

"Bet you wish you had such awesome girl like mine, don't you Ishiran." Renji bragged.

Ishiran grunted. He didn't trust that girl. Although she was an excellent infiltrator.

Shuyou stealthily crawled forward on the branch of the tree he was perched in, peaking through the makeshift wall of leaves and out onto the open field. Surely the samurai don't believe they can take us on in hand-to-hand combat, he thought to himself, a scowl forming underneath his black mask.

A small brush of a fallen leaf on a human hand sounded below, a sound so soft and discrete that only Shuyou would've heard it. Saya, one of Shuyou's wing-men, silently climbed up the trunk of the tree to join her leader. "Are the samurai amassing yet?" she asked, her voice barely audible beneath the black cloth that wrapped around her face.

"Yes," Shuyou replied, his eyes focused on the arena like field before them. "We shall strike swiftly, the samurai will never know what's coming. Star is supposed to be among them, so take heed not to wound her. Questionable she may be, but thus far she hasn't failed us." He prepared his descent down the tree, leaving Saya to keep lookout.

Ishiran knew the time was right.

"Renji. Stop your foolishness. It's time to strike. Star, if your information was false, I'll rip your guts out myself." Ishiran growled.

Renji nodded and ran off to gather the samurai. Soon Ishiran and Star were surrounded by their comrades, a total of 2,000 Samurai plus 100 archers in the forest behind them, ready to fire.

Saya's eyes caught the glint of armor far off across the field. Working primarily at night had helped enhance her vision and awareness, making it much easier to spot things a long distance away. She retrieved a small scythe from her belt, using it as a flute to send a soft note to Shuyou and his company.

Shuyou heard the note clearly and signaled for his assassins to take their position. A full face-to-face battle with the samurai would surely result in their deaths, even if it was a chance to pull off the Jutte Jutsu, the infamous ninja technique of defeating a fully armed samurai in combat with only a jutte.

The ninjas were to fan out across the field, taking their positions behind bushes or in the trunks of various trees. There would be an initiate attack, but from there the plan was to lure the samurai into the ninja trap.

Ishiran shouted out loudly. "Forward men! Death to the Shuyou!"

"DEATH TO THE SHUYOU!"

The samurai charged the field, a frontal attack, knowing the ninja's were poor at these tactics. Ishiran led the charge, his katana in his hands.

Renji followed quickly behind, brandishing only one of his swords, the Danzo clan flag, strapped to his armor.

The samurai's cry for battle reached Shuyou at his perch near the field. "So... the time is ripe then," he murmured, allowing himself a moment's thought before issuing orders. Nothing verbal needed to be said to give his men the sign they needed. The young ninja leader simply thrust his fist into the air, releasing as he did so a small flask of powder. The powder soared straight up into the air, then, at its turning point, thrust down back to the earth with a ferocity, emitting a loud 'bang' as it connected with firm soil.

The ninjas went into action the minute the sound reached their ears. Crossbow bolts were fired upon the army of charging samurai, while ninja infiltrators cast large hooks from the surrounding trees. The hooks were intended to catch the openings in the samurai's armor, take hold of them, and hurl the latter into those directly behind in the charging force.

Other ninjas broke from their cover to meet the samurai frontal assault, casting their shuriken and flash powder at the seemingly never ending ranks of Japanese warriors.

The Samurai were being hit from all directions but even that wouldn't stop them.

They had been given an order and they would follow it or die trying.

Ishiran bellowed a battle cry, slicing into an enemy ninja, decapitating him. A samurai behind him fell from 5 bolts coming from the trees.

"They'll lure us to the forest! Stay in the field, we have the advantage!" Ishiran commanded.

Renji leaped into battle, crossing blades with two ninja's.

Star leaped up onto a tree and smirked down at the Samurai.

What fools.

She slung her arm out, three knives slashing out of her sleeve. Each knife hit a different ninja, and she chuckled to herself. They wouldn't even know it was her.

She slid down the tree and looked around. The ninjas wouldn't hurt her. Neither would the samurai.

The ninjas who had engaged the samurai head on were faltering, they were slowly being beaten back. This of course was all part of the plan, and as the last few began to fall they released a number of caltrops from small pouches girded across their belts. The spiked objects landed on the ground before the samurai, ensuring the ninjas escape from the field and granting just enough time for Shuyou to execute the next part of his strategy.

Engaging the samurai in broad daylight was risky indeed, especially considering the brute force of their numbers. Shuyou hoped to drag the battle on until night, for then he and his ninjas could show their true abilities. If we succeed in wiping out the samurai today the fee will truly be handsome, Shuyou cackled to himself, gingerly sneaking through the underbrush at the edge of the woods to watch the battle.

Star slunk up behind Shuyou and gave him a peck on the cheek.

"Bad boy! Aren't you supposed to be fighting?" she asked, crossing in front of him.

Sure, she was only using him, but why not really sell the part?

Shuyou blinked and shot Star an inquiring glance. "You sneaked through the samurai lines rather easily," he commented, lowering part of his mask to reveal a small smirk. "I'm not going to enter the fight just yet, the samurai must be drawn from the field a little more. I'm also certain they will push their way through the caltrops, especially with a continual rain of crossbow bolts upon their ranks; they can't afford to idly sit by." He chuckled softly, finding slight pleasure in his new job as a strategist.

Saya climbed down the trunk of the tree she was perched in and dropped beside Shuyou and Star, giving Star an uneasy look. "Nearly ready to move on?" she asked in a hushed voice.

Star's expression was distressed for just a moment.

"But..."

She looked up him with her big, brown eyes and said, "We can't wipe them out yet."

She quickly thought of an explanation.

"One of the ninjas is secretly possessing the information that I need to find out. It could be any one of them, and I have recently discovered that when the holder of those secrets dies, the information automatically erases itself." she lied without missing a beat. "Just wait a bit longer."

"What?" Saya growled angrily, shooting Star a menacing glare. She had never been trusting of double agents in general, particularly Star, but since Shuyou trusted her she had no choice. "What kind of information? Since when have we been in need of samurai info... Shuyou?"

Shuyou pondered Star's explanation while listening to Saya, taking in what they both said at once. "We are required to wipe out the samurai at any cost, and now is the perfect time for just that. But... what is this information, Star? I cannot let a chance like this pass us..."

"...special moves, the history of the Samurai, secrets only they know." she lied. "That information is too valuable!"

Saya scoffed and turned away, leaving Shuyou to make a decision and heading for the rest of the ninjas to await orders.

Shuyou's expression was blank and unreadable, but after a moment of thought he sighed and let his decision be known. "Very well... we'll wait. I'll call off the rest and we'll wait for another opportunity, preferably after dark." He stood up slowly from the bush, his elegant leather armor catching the sun's rays and reflecting them dully. "I hope you realize how much I trust you, Star. Normally I wouldn't let something such as this sway me from my goal, especially when it's within my grasp! But... ah, forget it. Signal to our eastern company located at the edge of the forest to fall back. I'll give my orders to the others."

((Let's wait to call off the fight until Aki gets back.))

Star smiled pulled him into a "loving" embrace.

"Thank you." she smiled. Her eyes glinted a bit as she said, "I'll never ever betray your trust."

((Good idea.))

The assassin leader smiled, although mildly surprised, and wrapped his arms around her. For a second he didn't even realize what he was doing, he simply savored the strange moment. At least, it was strange to him.

Star looked up at him, a smile on her face. But her eyes were empty. She felt...nothing for him.

Perhaps someone who actually felt for others would've noticed the lack of actual love in Star's eyes, but for Shuyou emotion was something new to him. True, he could act like a normal human being and hide his real self, but it was all an act. Yet, the actor himself couldn't tell when another acted right alongside him. He gently pushed Star from him and returned the smile before slipping his mask back over his mouth. "A little affectionate today, are we?" he chuckled. "I don't see you acting like this with the others."

"The others aren't like you." she smiled, looking away. She looked at the ground, and thought about Renji. "Would you like me to act this way with others?"

"N-No, of course not," Shuyou stammered, unaware of how stupid he sounded as a ninja, famed assassin of the night. Such things were supposed to be past his kind. "I was just surprised, that's all."

Renji was looking around for Star.

"Star? Where are you?" Renji called out.

Ishiran shouted. "Leave her, this is horrendous! Get back to the base and we'll regroup and plan our next attack."
((Heading to bed, night ya'll.))
