"Ah, a George von Levin. The Viscount with the hotheaded son." Lattice said in acknowledgment. She had to tend to him a few times. One of the few pleasant Nobles she's had to deal with. If he had reservations about being served by her, it never showed once. "A good man held back by his 3rd son, Harold. His wife? Mildred." Hmmmm, this seemed a simple case for the Draconian. The 3rd son was the only problematic one. "Guards are paid off........."
  • Mildred is the Noble Demi saved in Pirate. Harold got fucked up in Pirate
"Guess the wench left her ugly-ass maid with the fish. What a circus." came the voice. The people hadn't made themselves seen yet, but Harold's voice was familiar enough to them both. Wench? I'm the only one who's ever tended to Lady Demestral's bed, Lattice thought. She wanted to kill these people for insulting her lady, but Lady Demestral was always adamant that she could defend her own honor. Insults didn't get to her, so Lattice had to keep calm as well. Lattice shook the thoughts off because there was something more important to address. Nancy and his safety

"Human! Lady Demestral has given you an act of mercy," Lattice said, sitting down and wrapping her tail neatly around her paws. "I was given an order to get this boy home safely," Lattice declared. Lattice could be an easily frightened girl.........if she hadn't taken a ton of bumps from Demi and Quincy. While Quincy just used his "trainings" as an excuse to beat her ass, she learned a TON. Especially magic. As for Lady Demestral, her lance was a sharp one. It always felt like she was taking the poor Draconian maid to the Lance, but she always taught Lattice a lot about physical combat. She was beyond a human. "My lady's orders are absolute. If your death facilitates his safety, so be it." Lattice knew intermediate spells, but since that was the extent, she learned them VERY well. Honed to Perfection in fact
  • Honed to Perfection: A concept of mastery where a spell like the basic Fireball can be as good as an Advanced level spell. Aka +2 levels of advancement
    • In Lattice's case, her Intermediate is at the Expert level of power and effectiveness

"Are you serious right now?!" This incredulous thought was strong enough to breach through their still open telepsychic link. If Lattice had particularly honed ears, she could hear the Locathah's teeth click and grind. Upon that unwelcome voice and its unwarranted insults, Nancy's growing fear of this encounter pivoted to exasperation. That maniac was JUST warned, and he was still going to tempt the dragon's wrath out of Demi?!
"I don't think there's any getting out of this one," he begrudged to Lattice. Fighting skills or not, she shouldn't be throwing herself in the fray because Nancy decided to be a little petty. And of damn course, the guards were paid off! It wasn't like they could go running for help! "I'm sorry. This is my fault..."

This manchild didn't bring an entire gang of people for a good showdown only to be placated by a few pleads, but he would try. "If-- If this is about what happened in the restaurant, you have my sincere apologies," he said aloud, bowing his head as he took a few steps past Lattice. "Forgive my ignorance. I'm not yet familiar with the customs of this city, and was unaware of your rank. I genuinely thought you were part of the waiting staff."

While Horrible Harold received Nancy's humble appeal, Lattice got an additional tidbit. "I mean, they were so well-dressed, how could I not?" Dripping with sarcasm, it was a peek into the piece of mind Nancy actually wanted to give this man.

A growl meant that those words provoked their not yet visible assailant. Lattice smiled at Nancy's words. "I don't know, if a Fae sees you as wait staff, you must look like wait staff. I know because I'm part of her wait staff." Some nobles put flashiness over freedom of movement, a dress for an evening may be more flashy than a lot of people's wedding dresses. They wanted to stand out, and by any positive means necessary. Lattice, on the other hand, wore the typical wait staff clothing, which for her consisted of modified red cloth shirt. While it had the physical design of the other maid's dresses, Lattice's wasn't because she was quadruped and with a large tail. She wasn't wearing any clothing right now. She was Draconian. At Lady Demestral's behest, she only wore those clothes because the other maids did.......so only in the performance of her cleaning duties or when they were expecting company would Lattice actually don her maid attire. "I expected your wife to dress too befitting a noble to be seen as wait staff though."

"..........I care not if you insult me," he definitely did care given the growl at Nancy's words. Still, his voice was beginning to crack at the words he was saying now. At least he cares for his wife's honor, Lattice thought, "But you will PAY FOR OPENING YOUR DISGUSTING MOUTH INSULTINGLY ABOUT MY WIFE!!"

“HUMAN!” Lattice declared again, “You will get no more warnings. I know for a fact that my Lady did not accost you. She responded in kind to hostility.” Lattice really wanted to keep her hands clean tonight. If she got blood on her attire, it would need to be explained to Lady Demestral, and that wasn’t even to mention the hardships that would come from killing a noble. “Also, to bark at me while remaining concealed speaks to a cowardice,” Lattice said, her voice growing more gruff by the second. “If you have something to say to a lowly maid such as myself, why do you insist on methods that prevent me looking into your eyes while you say it?” Lattice’s body glowed and released a pulse of blue light. This was [Foresight]
  • [Foresight]: A spell to reveal everything around the caster in a radius, from ghosts/spirits, Magic Residue and Leylines, to those using any type of stealth or concealment magic. The effect lasts for 30 seconds last exposure
Within this large dome, newly visible particles floated in the air around them, tiny little specks of different colors, and the ground actually shimmered a little under the golden late day sunset. This was magic residue that had settled on the ground, and it operated similarly to dust particles. Normally it would soak back into the ground, but since the ground was paved, it provided no ability for natural recycling back into the earth, thus the beautiful multi-colored dim glow persisted so long as [Foresight] remained active. This magic residue could also be visible on their clothing and on Lattice’s body, though definitely not in enough quantities to produce the dim glow on the road.

With this spell in play now, the culprits were revealed. There were 5 of them: Harold and 4 goons. 2 of them were armed with swords, 1 axe, 1 stave, and then Harold himself who had his own sword. They were a bit of ways away in front of them, which Lattice figured given the direction of the voice. There was no magic at play to project their voice anymore.

"Nancy, I will teleport you home, with the books." Lattice told him with a smile. "It will make all of this easier. I will see you when my Lady orders me to see you again."

Lattice had no idea what would play out, and she'd rather not complicate things any further. It wasn't Nancy's business what plays out from here if she could help it

Nancy's Options
  • Encourage Lattice to Words- She's here to get me home safely. Let me stick to that
  • Encourage Lattice to Violence- She's willing to put an end to those who want to kill me.............
  • Take the teleport- She can get me to safety, her goal. At that point, it's on her, right?!
  • Let Lattice handle it- Lattice is Demi's servant and seems competent. It's best to let her make those decisions, regardless of the outcome
OOC: I'm gonna streamline the shit out of this regardless so we can get to the mission

Not even the slightest bit placated. Good for Harold, apparently he was smart enough to read sub-context. Still not smart enough to let sleeping dogs lie, as Lattice was ready to put his down. "I guess this circus was a little short on a few clowns," he telecommed to her when each goon shimmered into view, and their sharpened weapons in turn. Good gods, all of this over a petty spat HE started! If Nancy knew that the nobles were this insane, he would have never stepped foot in this city. Once Nellie found out about this, she would insist on turning tail immediately.

Lattice offered to teleport Nancy away before they had the chance to prepare sushi with him. "Wait-- Just me?! Couldn't you come with?" She shouldn't have to deal with this! Nancy's large tail flicked, stirring up the carpet of magic in a glimmering wave. "If the guards are payed off, I don't want you getting charged unfairly." He deemed it best to cockblock their aggression entirely, leaving them waiting. Then Demi can let Quincy eat them later. Harder to argue with a Draconian Squire than a Maid. "Don't tell me this is an honor thing..." he begged, head sinking.
