The Events That Follow A Coincidence

ReminiscenceOfRegret

Do you remember your regret?

Jasper's shades were pushed up the bridge of his nose, obscuring the teen's emerald orbs from view. He was leaning against the wall next to the door to the principal's office. A new student had arrived. A girl, some had said, though he'd long since stopped believing the many rumors filtering throughout the halls. About half of them were nonsense anyways.

He was assigned to lead the new student around. Apparently their schedules were very similar, so he was the likliest candidate for the torturous job of awkwardly escorting the stranger from one class to the next. He liked school, it was a nice place for him to socialize and mee new people, but he hated this task. It felt like an immense responsibility that he failed at everytime. He always had nothing to say but,"There's this class." or,"You'll really like that class." Nothing ever created some longlasting friendship he'd never forget.

He ran a hand through ebony locks, attempting to fix his windblown hair before he had to go around and make a fool of himself.

Just as the door opened, he kicked himself away from the wall. He turned his head to meet the gaze of the student as they walked out, the corners of his lips twisting upward in the same friendly fashion as always.

"Hello." He said, already extending his hand in preparation for a hand shake. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Jasper."

Ember had fought long and hard with her dad that morning about going to school with those...those blood bags. She didn't see a reason of why she had to be 'social' with them or treat them with 'respect and dignity' no it made no sense to her at all. There was word floating around that her dad raised a spoiled brat, and he was seeing it more as the years went on. Even if she had a good heart deep...deep...deep down, she needed to learn to show it more and beyond that learn some manners!

She had talked with the principal for what seemed like forever before he finally let her go. Her father had been right at her side to make sure that she was at least respecting the one person that could get her kicked out of the school. "You be good." he said ruffling her blonde hair, "I will see after school...just try to be nice." he sighed. Ember could only make a face at him as he turned and nodded his head to Jasper before disappearing out the door. Turing her icy blue eyes to the new male, she looked at him with disinterest, and then to his hand. Her look then turned to one of distaste, slowly she reached out and shook his head. Though she touched it as if it was some kind of vile thing and quickly pulled her hand away.

"It's nice to meet you..." she said slowly. "So this is your little...school?" she questioned.

Jasper stared at the girl from behind his shades, watching her expression intently. He didn't know whether he should feel relieved that he probably already ruined his chances with befriending the girl or not. By now, he'd just accepted that it happened eventually. Though, he couldn't fathom how it had happened so quickly. She had just came out of the office. What? Did his style of dress make him look like someone she wouldn't dare be seen with? Why did he even care? Did he need anymore friends?

Not really, no. But he liked making more.

"I'd hardly call it little." He said, shrugging slightly before turning and beginning to walk. He paused momentarily, glancing over his shoulder before gesturing for her to follow. "C'mon."

He continued to walk along, hands shoveled into the pockets of his jacket as he glanced around. "I'll be taking you towards the science department first. That's where your first class is, right? Physics?"

He was maintaining a cool demeanor. A calm, laidback, almost nonchalant one. He was going to survive this tour, hopefully without any regrets.

"After that, wait for me. I'll be escorting you to your math class. Got it?" He added on, glancing back ever so often to make sure she was still there because of the crowdedness of the hallways.

She couldn't help but look around as she stood there. Part of her felt overwhelmed by it all, the noise from the other student's and the smell as well. Ember could smell the bleach that the janitors used the night before, not to mention all the blood that was walking around her as well. It was then she was glad she had at least some self control. She had been so occupied with her thoughts, that at first she didn't hear him call for her to follow. Though when it dawned onto her she slowly started to walk behind him.

"Yes my first class is Physics." she told him with her arms folded across her chest. When he told her to wait for him after class, she couldn't help but scoff at that. "You want me to wait on you?" She half demanded before giving a bitter laugh. "I don't wait on anyone kid, you can wait for me." she told him. She was trying to move her way across the hall, while Jasper was walking, he would feel someone grab his hand. "Hey!" came a familiar and more friendly voice. It was a childhood friend of his, as a child she was always so happy and full of life and she was still the same to that day. When she got his attention she gave a big grin. "I heard you are helping the new girl today!" she said happily as she peeked around him. "Is that her?" she questioned.

Ember rolled her eyes and let out a groan. "There is even more of you?" she asked sounding more annoyed then anything else. The other girl couldn't help but laugh as she stood there. "Hey you guide is really popular, you should get use to that." she told her happily. "Then I might as well just find my classes on my own if he is just going to be pulled away from his job like that!" she growled. The other girl blinked and looked at Jasper, "Someone is cranky today." she whispered.
