"Bethie~? Bethie! Are you zoning out again?" A kiddish voice brought her out of her thoughts. Blinking she looked across the long table to where a white-haired young girl sat pouting seemingly unhappy. Princess Charlotte de Ethevaria her sister. A smile graced her features at this. "Ha.. yes but I promise it won't happen again!" Though her words sounded sincere the young girl didn't seem to believe that, crossing her arms and presenting her older sister with a knowing look. After struggling to hide a creeping up smile Elisabeth acted as if she couldn't see such a look opting to dig into the food in front of her. Casual conversation between everyone seated at the table flowed about as breakfast was enjoyed. The mood was unexpectedly a joyous one. They were the splitting image of what a normal functioning family was expected to be. Perhaps that was so because of the missing presence at the table. Just as she was about to lift some food in her mouth with the help of a fork the doors to the dining room flew open.

In the wake of this disturbance, everything ceased to be. The sound of silverware clashing against orate plates stopped completely and the conversation was snuffed out like a light. Yet the one who was the cause of this came to the table and took a seat without another word. Princess Rowena de Ethevaria, the main character of Revenge Of The Second Princess and her sister.. Elisabeth's grip on her cutlery tightened. It wasn't an understatement to say she was scared of Rowena. She had personally read the things the girl went through and experienced. As of now Rowena had just been reborn and was still processing things. She remembered this exact scene in the novel. 'Look at them. How dare they look at her with such expressions that she was undeserving of. They were hypocrites all of them. She'd kill these white-haired bastards, all of them.' The author described Rowena's thoughts in detail, so descriptive that she could feel the hate and resentment that hung off of every word.

Knowing that this was what Rowena was currently thinking at the moment as her cold gaze traveled over each of them chilled Elisabeth to the bone. "Rowena!!!" Emperor Joseph slammed his hands down on the table making the contents rattle. "It seems you still haven't learned your lesson! Coming in here with such an attitude and not even greeting your family!! You disrespectful child!!" It seemed no matter what Rowena did she would always attract scorn from those around her, mainly from her father. Or at least who was suspected to be her father. This detail was very important and was mentioned in the novel repeatedly. Rowena did not inherit the famed looks of the Ethevaria royals. Instead of the beautiful white hair, she had a head full of moonless black hair. And she did not hold the trait of blue eyes rather dark brown eyes. Since young she was always looked down upon for this, rumors even spread that she was cursed as black hair was something that was very uncommon within the empire.

All attention in the room turned towards Rowena. Elisabeth knew that they were waiting for an outburst from her. But unlike her, they didn't know that this Rowena was from two years into the future and had changed a great deal. She matured greatly, she was no longer that immature princess who was angry at the world for everything it weighed upon her. "Father, mother forgive this daughter of yours for being unfilial towards you. During my days of punishment, this princess has reflected on her actions and sincerely apologizes for all the troubles she's caused in the past." Along with this she even perfectly curtsied! Immediately after she spoke it got so quiet you could hear the sound of a pin dropping in the distance. Everyone was shocked, especially Emperor Joseph. It was well known throughout the empire that Princess Rowena held a vicious tongue that bit back at anyone and she fell behind in studies so who was this proper lady before them?

Eyes flew back and forth at the table. Did Rowena take the wrong medicine today or is that stupid girl finally stepping foot in the right direction? Nonetheless, Empress Ingrid's face softened. While it was true she had never really liked this black-haired daughter at the end of the day she still birthed her and couldn't help but hold some motherly warmth towards her even if it was little. Before anything else could be Elisabeth pushed herself out of her chair and began clapping excitedly. "Congratulations sister!! Father, don't you think this calls for a celebration? Rowena has admitted to her mistakes and is learning from them this is obviously very good!" From her words alone the plot would be changing but she was prepared for it. Just her alone being in Elisabeth's body everything had already begun to change so this wasn't daunting to her.

Elisabeth could feel the piercing stare of Rowena. It was brimming with inquiry. Father seemed to think it was a good idea though partially because the palace hasn't hosted an event in a while. Orders were sent out to begin the preparations and the twins, Prince Theodore and Albert started excitedly talking about this sudden event with Charlotte budding in as well. Even the backgrounder Princess Elaine had something to say. It was safe to say that most everyone's interest had been piqued.

Auryn.

  • mood

    just a little worried, slightly

Ever since unexpectedly stepping foot into this body, Auryn has felt the constant pull of busyness. It felt as if there was always somewhere she had to be, something that had to be done, and apparently she was the only one who could do it. Nevertheless, Auryn was the determined sort, and if there was something needing to be complete she would do it and do it right.

Still..that didn't mean there weren't any bumps along the way. There was the glaring problem that Auryn hadn't really known the layout of the palace of the Ethevaria Royals very well. Of course, actual Auryn would have for sure, there was no doubt, but this hadn't been actual Auryn inhabiting the body, and it wasn't like Ruby had properly read the paragraphs of text that described the whole palace in all its glory during her look-through of the novel itself. Those were the boring parts..and Ruby would much rather skim over those in order to get to the action.

The silver lining is that Auryn is learning her way around, slowly. It's becoming easier to navigate the palace's maze-like halls over time, as things become more familiar the longer she's here. Which is good, with such familiarity it's easier to get work done, which must be what actual Auryn prioritized most, she assumes. At least, that's what Ruby guesses. There isn't much you can go off of with a side character.

Apparently, Auryn had learned enough just in the nick of time, since from what she overheard there was supposedly an event of some kind that was going to take place. Now Auryn may have skipped over quite a bit from the novel, but she didn't recall this part happening at all. So..that's a little weird, isn't it?

But Auryn doesn't think much of it, aside from that one passing thought. It's possible this whole plot point happened and she just skipped over it. She did skip a lot, and events didn't sound like something that could keep her attention span for much too long. It sounds like it would involve a lot of talking, and that's just too much dialogue to read.

Auryn does what she can to help out with the preparations. As a servant, it was basically her job, but also it felt like something the real Auryn would do and she would like to stay as in-character as possible. She would rather not deal with questions, mostly because she wouldn't be able to provide the answers.

Auryn buries herself into the tandem of the work, moving things to where they needed to be and putting up the finest of decoratives to where they would look best. Some of the work actually felt somewhat easy to accomplish, and Auryn was thankful for it. She'd come to a realization over the past few days that being a servant involved a lot of thankless work, and maybe that should be obvious, but it's one thing to read about servant work and another to actually have to do it in your day to day life. "Easy" seemed hard to come by in this palace, especially when Auryn almost seemed expected to know some things that she doesn't. That only further complicates things.

As she worked away on what remained of preparations, Auryn's mind couldn't help but to wonder towards a certain princess. The First Princess, to be exact. It could be that there is a different princess that should be more pressing, but Auryn was a little fuzzy on some of the details from the novel, and Elaine had sort of stuck out more in some way. She felt more prominent now more than ever lately, especially now that Auryn was a servant of her's specifically. She hoped..she was doing an acceptable job at that. It was kind of gnawing away at her, whether her performance as a servant has been okay or not. Auryn couldn't really tell.

Giving a small sigh, Auryn decided to try and shake those kinds of thoughts from her head. Thoughts like that would surely only work to further hinder her more, if she were barely scraping by as an acceptable servant. But maybe she shouldn't think too hard about it. An event was supposed to be prepared, after all, and as a servant she should help with it. Auryn could just think about this later.
