Redlines, Tips, or Critiques? I need so help, please! [[ human faces nngH ]]

Wet Socks

I eat monsters like you for breakfast.
Firstly, thanks for clicking! I do apologize for any harm that may come to your beautiful, talented eyeballs. Hahah, maybe it isn't that bad but my art certainly isn't great or even that good, and I haven't felt much improvement. I tried lessons and what have you but I am so broke I can't pay for them[ 14, can't get a job just yet but I'm getting there! ]. So! I came here to see if I could get any tips, info, etc, that RPN and it's artists could offer. I especially appreciate tips, redlines, and references, as I can process them best but I deeply appreciate any help I can get.

So.. art for reference... I apologize if these are improperly sized, blurry, or smudged, I drew and snapped pics of both in the car, hahah. cx

Personally I don't see anything glaringly wrong. I like the style that you've developed. Would you like tips on how to make a proper human face? Your proportion and spacing are overall good. The eyes could be smaller, but I wouldn't change that unless you were asked to.

Ahh thank you, but uhm yes. It is rare that I can properly shape a human face. In particular, head shape (and definitely female/male jawlines), lips, and especially eyes, something I really struggle with. Really anything to help me with progression, I suppose, if that makes sense? I just don't know how to improve from here..especially on things like face shape and eyes, it all just feels generic.

Practise realism and draw still life's of real human faces. You don't need to take classes to do that, but you certainly need determination. You generally need to be able to draw from the real, natural world and learn how things work in reality before you can manipulate what you are drawing to resemble a cartoon style.

Try experimenting with different styles and concept and find your sweet spot, and even when you find a style you like, keep experimenting to further your growth. DeviantArt has an expansive collection of tutorials from fantastic, detailed and dedicated artists that can help you, here's someone X if you're looking for head placement, but in the end like the people above said, just take from realistic and other sources to help you practice! Good luck and have fun!
