If I kept a lot of secrets to myself, does that make me a King of Shadows?
What if there lies a world in-between worlds?
What would exist there?
Perhaps the truth, or many hidden secrets...
Here, we follow the story of a young boy who has fallen into a coma. But we are not following the real world around him, rather we are venturing into the realms of another universe. A thin world hidden from many, so masked that only three individuals may enter.
A cautious, reserved boy named Colvin.
A spunky, daring girl named Brinlee.
and
A tough, loyal boy named Albus.
What ties these three together? Fate? Friendship? Love? Hate? Perhaps something greater than simple emotions?
Within this universe lies a galaxy of other worlds. Every single one separate, yet connected. All aware of one another, but never colliding. Four of these places shall be introduced.
One surrounded in the vastness of the woods with a little obscure cottage tucked away around a hidden bend.
Who is that?
The next built in a bustling city with a grand church at its center.
There's another one.
Another blanketed with the white natural beauty of ice.
Where are they coming from?
Finally, the last features no more than a simple island life.
They couldn't be...
Each of these worlds contains a brilliant light that has been touched by darkness. While it is natural to see light and dark together, the darkness within each has grown in power, weakening the life of the worlds and all those who live in it. Creatures of desperation have appeared from the darkness, born from the negativity within. Recently they have brought havoc, taking the light away from others and falling into a sickening madness. What will this mean for our protagonists? Can they help these worlds? And who is the master behind all this?-
Albus -
-
Leoht -
Age: 10
Appearance: Albus is a boy with dandelion colored hair and teal eyes. His cheeks are still plump with baby fat and his nose is small and delicate. Albus displays a positivity that shines from his face. It's not that Albus is a young saint, he has copied off his friend's tests and borrowed money from his mom without asking, but his core is bright and innocent. He often scraps his knees chasing dogs and scaling trees like towers until sun turns to moon.
Personality: Albus lives to play outside with his best friend Colvin. He likes to imagine himself as an adventurer and the forest is an unknown country he's exploring for the first time. Albus peels beetles off of trees and lifts rocks to find snakes. He wants to see and touch everything. Albus is the center of his parent's universe and, like a flower, was given the sun and water needed to grow right. When he flaunts a rule, his mom and dad double his chores and take away his privileges. No one has ever given him a scar that didn't heal. Albus can be naive and arrogant but never cruel. He doesn't know that language.
To Albus, his best friend is half of his world. They're the same age and can bounce off each other's energy. Colvin is his partner in crime and the person Albus trusts with his secrets. Yet--yet Colvin seems unknowable sometimes, hard to see and distant. Colvin is the smarter one, Albus decides, and the cooler one. Once in while, Albus has a feeling of sourness like a spoiled fruit. His doubts creep inside and bring shadow to light.
Lately, it seems like Albus is speaking one language and Colvin in another and they talk past each other. Albus hides from those thoughts as best he can or pretends not to notice them. Best friends are supposed to make each other happy and he tries hard to be bright and positive. Besides, the fun they have can't be eclipsed by anything, he's sure.
Albus can't wait to grow up and have adventures with Colvin and Brinlee. He often wonders what Brinlee is doing but is confident she thinks of him and Colvin as much as he thinks of her.
They're interconnected after all.

Brinlee -

Beningham -
Age: 10
Appearance: Upon first impression, one can see fierce, brown eyes and luminous, sandy brown hair decorating a delicate face. But Brinlee has a lean figure that can pack a punch. Currently, Brinlee is in a transitioning phase between childhood and adolescence so her once plump face is becoming more angular, her torso is slightly longer compared to her lower half and the size of her feet is disproportional to her height.
Personality: Despite the cute face she may have, Brinlee is anything but a pushover. She can be quite stubborn and fiercely protective of those she loves. Brinlee can stand on her own but enjoys helping others. She is more assured of who she is, what she wants to be, and her capabilities and weaknesses. While it looks like she has everything figured out, she can actually get quite overwhelmed quickly and pretty much snap. Which for a little girl looks adorable at the moment, but at an older age, she's fierce.
Responsibility is a major virtue of hers and doing the right thing, but that is where she becomes conflicted. She usually has a certain ideal for one thing and most of the time the boys go along with it, but as they grow older she realizes that their thought processes are changing and that they will not always agree with her. This bothers her as she likes to have order since order helps predict the future. In a way, this can make her a little high-strung, which is why the boys serve as a balance for her to loosen up.
But one thing the boys don't notice about Brinlee is how observant and analytical she is of their relationships. The young girl realizes that something is happening, but she cannot find the right thoughts of words to describe it. At the moment it is only an instinctual thing.

Colvin -
-
Anders -
Age: 10
Appearance: Donned with messy, black hair and intense, blue eyes, Colvin has a more mellow look to him. He has a thinner structure for a child and even has a bit of muscle earned from experience. There is always an air of mystery around the boy as he often has the smallest of expressions, except when around Albus. With the radiant blonde he cracks a few more smiles and a different shine of his blue eyes can be seen to the point where they almost even appear a icy blue color.
Personality: Reserved, analytical and independent. Colvin has qualities that grant him an air of maturity that a young boy shouldn't really have at his age. He can be naive at times, but for the most part, his trust abilities are rather thin and he finds it hard to open up. While he may hesitate to embrace change, Colvin isn't stubborn to stay in one path. If persuaded or shown great guidance, the boy can be receptive to growing and learning from others. But for the most part, he prefers to do things on his own.
This doesn't mean he isn't perceptive of other's emotions. In fact, he adjusts himself with his behavior with others. Like with Albus, he is more considerate and maybe even a little dependent on the boy. He may look to him for comfort and warmth. But Colvin sometimes has the dark thoughts plaguing his judgment in opening himself up to anyone. So he can be quite odd during these times when he struggles to understand his thoughts with his emotions.
