The second of the two foundation techniques of Dragon Style, the Dragon’s Den Divination teaches the principle of “sensation”. Closing their eyes and breathing deep, the user allows their essence to diffuse gently into the area, attuning themselves to their surroundings, resonating with the elemental energy suffusing the environment until they can sense its shape and layout.
This Charm grants the user an instinctive familiarity with their surroundings. When functioning fully, it adds half the user’s Essence rating to their Dodge, Athletics or Survival for any purpose that can be improved by such innate knowledge of one’s surroundings. However, this full effect is only applicable when the user is in an area dominated by that variant’s element; otherwise, this Charm only grants one additional dice to those pools. Typically, the Air variant is most useful in the North, Water in the West, Earth on the Blessed Isle and so on; however, any area aligned to the variant’s element can provide the full benefit, so, for example, the Wood variant would function best in a forest on an island in the West.
