Post your character sheet in the Characters page here when applying, with the Gift Weaknesses and Limits removed. Also, please PM your full character sheet to IceSolstice. They will be checking over the Weaknesses and Limits to ensure it's balanced and fair, and requesting additional clarification if necessary. Only 4 characters max for now. Name: Name of character, and any nicknames

Age: If your character is a small child, they better act like a small child.

Gift Summary: Supernatural ability/mutation. You can only have one Gift, and all aspects of a Gift have to be connected and related. Gifts that are purely physical modifications can involve unrelated improvements to the body under the umbrella of a modified constitution. Gifts that involve powers and an altered biology must have the mutations connect to the power. For example, creating fireballs and having sharpened hearing are unrelated, while having a toughened, skeletal hand that produces flames is fine.

Power levels to shoot for would be the BnH anime (excluding the unusually powerful individuals), Level 4's from A Certain Magical Index, the weaker Naruto Jonin, and Agents of Shield.

Gift Weaknesses and Limits: Describe your character’s Gift in detail, with an explanation of how it works and the limits of what it can do, and any applicable weaknesses. If applicable, try to roughly define range, speed, strength, volume, duration, if it can directly affect people’s bodies at distance, and any other relevant metrics. Please try to adhere to the limits of your character’s Gift—I’ll be keeping an eye out to ensure fairness. No duplicate Gifts, and try not to overlap with other Gifts too much.

Gifts prohibited are those involving the future, time, alternate timelines/parallel universes, time travel, breaking of the fourth wall, and Gift-stealing/nullifying/amplifying. Gifts that increase intelligence, control/read minds of others, and copy other Gifts are heavily, heavily discouraged. While inspiration being taken from an existing character or archetype is fine, blatant rips are also discouraged.

Personality: How other characters would generally perceive your character’s personality—hopefully you already know what your own character’s personality is like.

New characters may not be residents or former residents of Derika, or have encountered ETG in any meaningful capacity—it leads to retroactively creating a weird canon with each application I accept, and I will characterize ETG myself. Histories involving ETG may become available later on.

Party Control

In your character application, you may choose whether or not to enable party control. This is your initial decision and may be changed through notifying the mods and I through an OOC post. If party control is enabled, other people are allowed to RP with your character.

Rules people must follow when party controlling a character:
  1. You may not injure, harm, or kill the character
  2. You may not use a character’s Gift in a way that they have not used it before
  3. You may not write out the character’s thoughts - only their actions
  4. If the owner asks you to change something concerning their character, you must do so
  5. You must try your best to RP the character as faithfully as possible
  6. You should only perform actions necessary to advance - unless specified otherwise

Name: Ayane Katou. One of her bodies is called Aya and the other Ayane.

Age: 15

Gift Summary: She has two bodies. When Aya and Ayane sing together, they are able to sense and influence the minds and emotions of others, they're able to sense the presence of other minds, sense if someone is alive by searching for a mind, feel someone's emotions, and soothe the emotions of others a bit. They can inspire courage and resolve in their allies as well as lessen the pain they feel. They are able to harm enemies by making them feel mental pain.

Appearance: One body has grey eyes(Ayane) and the other has green eyes(Aya). She is pretty short, 5'4'', I guess. Her outfits are T-shirts and long pants, Ayane has a jacket with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows. She doesn't really care about the colors. Her body is a little underdeveloped so people may think she is younger than she is.

Personality: Child-like. She likes to mess with people sometimes, though(I mean, with two bodies, just think of the possibilities! She can act out a play by herself! Ahaha). She has low-motivation for things, and likes to see the full perspective, so pretty neutral, doesn't mean she doesn't have strong opinions.

History: She lived in Florida. She has a family. An older sister and two parents, plus many extended family that mostly live in NY and around America. She and her sister are Gifted, her parents didn't really have a problem with that. She was raised as two separate people until they found out she was one person. She wasn't very good at school and her parents didn't know what to do with her. Her sister was very successful and was going to get a normal job. Ayane, on the other hand, couldn't find anything she could really do, so her parents put her on the path to using her powers. She had heard about the kidnapped people though, and didn't want to be in danger. She got into a major fight with her parents(comparing her to her sister, asking why she couldn't be batter, a real bloodbath). So she fled, but it could be seen as her parents sending her away. She went to Derika.

Party Control: Yes. Though, you would have to control both bodies separately without the thoughts, so good luck. Or one body might be somewhere else, who knows?

Other: She's a vegetarian!
Name: Elizabeth "Liz" Workinghime

Age: 18

Gift Name: Eighth Day

Gift Summary: On the end on every Sunday, time stops for 24hrs for Liz. Liz is able to move around on these days, although she doesn't age in them. She can invite other's to spend the Eighth Day with her, and people can heal an injury faster here and get over a sickness faster here. She has not found a limit to how many people she can invite, though she suspects it is unlimited. You have to touch her to go to the Eighth Day with her, at midnight on a Sunday. She has no way to stop it, and no way to move the day to another time or extend the time to be longer. Inside the Eighth Day, there are no people or animals or tree's or plants. Only thing's that aren't alive and/or has been made by someone's gift exist there. There is no way to stay there, you do not need to be touching Liz to return to Midnight on Sunday. You appear wherever you are in the Eighth Day.

Appearance: Hazel eyes and Blonde hair. She is quite tall, and she is slightly chubby. She likes to wear fancy clothes, but nothing too impractical. Her hair reaches her lower back, and she likes to braid it.

History: She comes from a middle-class family, and she always looked up to hero's. She was a huge fan of the ETG until they started becoming shifty. She loves people who have Gifts and use them to help people, though she didn't have a gift until one night she wanted one really badly, and she got the Eighth Day. She doesn't think it's a great power until she invites others and such. She knows she can be a great hero with her Gift, but others do not see how. She decided on her 18th birthday, when she became an adult, to become a hero. Her parents support her, although weary, and send her to Derika. She loves to discover things and be free and curious, so they didn't think she would like ETG.

Personality: Friendly, supportive and very protective of her friends. Will generally leave it to the other party to initiate conversation or steer it to something of substance beyond a quick 'hi-bye', however. Generally passive and decidedly not a hero, but will step in against bigots and bullies. Deeply depressed and has had suicidal ideations recently.

History: Though born in Pakistan, she was raised in the US by relatives after losing her family in the on-going Indo-Pak border skirmishes. Ayesha was never loved by her foster family, being taken in only out of a sense of obligation. All the same, she tried to make the best of the situation despite bullying and abuse at home and at school. Her only friend was an uncle, a retired soldier, who would often teach her what he knew to get their minds of things - bad memories from the battlefield on one end and abuse on the other. Packed off to university at the first opportunity, she soon dropped out as her depression deepened. Her uncle's death and her powers activating only added to her problems and so she dove into the waters and swam...and swam...and swam...and swam...before fatigue took her and she was found by Derika's Coast-guard equivalent. Having just been given a clean bill of health, Ayesha is now on Derika, wondering what to do with the rest of her life.

Name: Gabriel Anders

Standing at around 6'2, Gabriel is a rather tall young man that looks exactly like the image above minus the sword. When he walks, he has a perpetual limp. Looking very closely, you can also see that he's partially blind in his right eye.

Personality: Sometimes irritable and sarcastic, Gabriel is a pretty quiet and polite fellow most of the time. He isn't the type to complain unless he's really hurting or bitter and is usually quiet, stoic even, and keeps things to himself, so much that they have a habit of bottling up and exploding in a ugly mess. He follows most of society's rules to the letter, even if he doesn't like them sometimes, never being one to cause trouble. Not as outgoing as he used to be, but still tries when the situation calls for it. Observant and analytical, Gabriel is a logical sort of guy who enjoys reading all kinds of books. He's often cold towards others, but underneath it all is a big 'ol softie.

History:
A young man originally born in the UK but adopted along with his younger twin sister Amara by a American couple. Brother and sister had a normal childhood. Nothing of consequence took place and they grew up normally. Naturally, the two were very close and had a strong bond. For Gabriel, that and just a few friends was enough for him, although he often attracted more people than not due to a charismatic way about him. He was always more of an introvert, quiet and stoic but not necessarily shy. He was well behaved and never got in trouble. He did well in school and was outgoing, even becoming a possible candidate for valedictorian of his class and getting a scholarship to one of the top colleges. Amara was the opposite in some ways, but she still cared deeply for her brother. She was quite vibrant and a complete social butterfly, doing about average in high school. She was a bit of a partier as well, and more than once Gabriel had to act as her babysitter. It annoyed him sometimes, but the twins rarely fought regardless.

One night after they had turned 21, the twins went to a party hosted by one of Amara's friends. It was pretty normal, with alcohol being present. Gabriel, knowing that one of them would have to drive home at some point, made the decision to be the designated driver while his sister got utterly wasted. He kept a careful eye on Amara so that no one would take advantage of her. When it became apparent that she had to much to drink, Gabriel, ignoring his sister's snappy drunken protests, eventually got her into the car and began to drive home. Halfway there, a semi collided with his car on his sister's side during a moment of momentarily distraction. It happened in an instant, but for Gabriel it seemed to occur in slow motion. Glass shattered, flying everywhere, on the pavement and upon the occupants of the hit vehicle. Gabriel could remember pain, the car rolling over and over, and then...nothing. In that brief moment before he lost consciousness, he realized that he hadn't even heard Amara scream.

When he came to, he was in a hospital bed, alive, but noticed that something was off, even with all the pain reducing drugs in his system. His right eye was covered in bandages and throbbing dully, making the world smaller, and one of his legs wasn't working quite right. At his bedside sitting in a chair and holding one of his hands was his sister, somehow unharmed and still in the clothes she had been wearing the night previous. Before either of them could speak, their parents rushed into the room, obviously relieved that he and his sister were alive. At least, that's what he thought at first, until his father informed him that Amara didn't make it, having been killed instantly when the truck hit. Naturally, Gabriel theorized he was going mad or something along those lines later that night after his parents had left, until Amara, who had been silent the entire time he had been awake, told him it was the truth. She was dead, and before he could get a word out, she left him with words that would alter his life forever: Things are changing, Gabriel. I'm sorry.

What that exactly meant, he wasn't sure, but he mourned the loss of his sister with parents during and after he got out of the hospital and never, to this day, saw his sister again. He started figuring out that Amara was right as more and more strange things kept happening to himself and those around him: He started seeing other ghosts, having out of body experiences often after he fell asleep or was just resting his eyes. He even had a razor materialize in his hand while shaving one morning....The list goes on and on. As things started getting stranger, he decided it would be best to go to Derika, land of the Gifted, to start his life anew and learn about his newfound powers before the ETG decided to question him, or worse.

Other: Although he was raised in America for most of his life, Gabriel still has slight traces of a British accent.

Blue Balls
Name: Yura Ho

Age: 18

Gift Summary: Explosive Candy/Candy-4

Appearance:

Personality: Yura is carefree, laid back, and incredibly lazy. However, she can be very hardworking if there’s a motivator, such as a deadline. A fast learner, she can get hang of things pretty quickly when she puts her mind to it. While she’s amiable enough, but her frequent usage of innappropriate language, slang, and lack of social ettiquette can make interactions with her a bit uncomfortable. Due to her sheltered life, she’s very naive and can barely take care of herself.

History: Born as the only child to a rich and successful couple, Yura was pampered by her parents, and lived a very luxurious and comfortable life. Her family’s wealth meant that she could get just about anything she wanted. To top it all off, she was studious and hardworking, got along well with others, and had inherited most of her mother’s good looks. She was their pride, so even when she suddenly began to materialise candy out of thin air, they didn’t mind much. Although it was a gift, it seemed harmless enough.

As she grew older, her personality changed completely, resulting in the lazy procrastinator everyone knows and loves. Then came the bittersweet discovery of her gift’s true potential. After she was saltier than a pickle due to numerous losses in an online shooter, she threw several of her candies out of her room’s window and thought about blowing everything up. It worked. Several loud explosions rang out on the front lawn, followed by a shower of dirt. Her candy was somehow explosive, and had resulted in endless lectures about safety from her parents. When rumors of ETG reached her parents, they eventually decided to send her off to Derika, despite her initial refusal and reluctance.

Computing Magus
Name: Miyarkus Trimiad

Age: 35

Gender: Male

Gift Summary: *Man of Bones*: Miyarkus is completely a skeleton; He can grab a limb or part of his body to use as a weapon or manipulate body limitations like holding his skull up high to get a better view if he is too short or he could hold the end of his left arm with his right arm to extend his reach, to name a few examples. He can also control his bones to fly swiftly as a weak projectile. Whenever his bones break, it takes roughly a whole day (twenty four hours) for them to regenerate.

This is a rather crazy Gift he acquired, and almost conveniently having this gift saved him. He could easily not have found out about this Gift even until the day he dies, except when you were under his specific circumstances.

Appearance: Miyarkus is a crimson-cloaked skeletal being that is around 175cm. The only thing that his cloak doesn't cover is his skull head, as his cloak covers him functionally similar to a large poncho.

Personality: He is a positive person of sorts, extrovert and outgoing. Cheerful enough that it can be considered contagious if you let him. He would gladly make acquaintances as frequently as possible. Despite his stereotypical villain-like appearance, he wants to help people in need. Doesn't want to feel left out in any group. If alone, he gets rather deep in thought, nearly melancholic even.

History: Raised with a father who could harness dark Elemental magic using his Gift and his mother with the Gift to cure and rejuvenate people, Miyarkus is his father's attempt at performing secretive dark arts. Using his son as a vessel at a very young age for demonic possession (or so he believes he can) , Miyarkus was smited with powerful energies. Skin ripped off of him and magic instead envelops him like flesh. The father obviously failed, almost killing Miyarkus, but the mother desperately tried to keep her son alive through pure, magical energy. Because of this, Miyarkus' father left him and his mother in shame, knowing he will never be forgiven for nearly killing their son and practicing his Gift to begin with. The two lived a sad hidden life kept alive by Miyarkus' mother's friend who cared deeply for the broken family. They lived like this until they were forced to live to Derika by the people who disapprove of people with a Gift. Miyarkus and his mother, after arriving, tried to make this home as comfortable as possible. Miyarkus' mother then left one day saying she wants to help other Gifted to arrive at Derika and to also find his father return, saying it won't take long. She left with an Artifact in hand and left Miyarkus the Moment Star, a memento of her and to keep his hopes up once she returns. It has been two months since.

Currently, he scours Derika and has been wondering recently if he should take leave for a while to find his parents. He lives in his own cozy private apartment, also planning to move to a bigger place. He wishes for a world with a peaceful Gifted community such as Derika. For now, he needs to fight for it.

Equipment: Miyarkus brings a tall scythe, keeping it hidden under the back of his cloak. While it is thematically correct for him, scythes aren't the best and is arguably the least conventional of weapons, if you see it only for battling. He's gonna find out sooner or later...

Name: Alice McKay

Age: 22

Gift Summary: Wing Creation/Manipulation

Personality: If there was one word to describe Alice in full, it would be whimsical. She seems to just do whatever she wants without a care in the world. Despite having experienced not so pleasant things, Alice has retained a surprising amount of naivety and optimism. She is enthusiastic in almost everything she does. Alice is especially fond of justice and is quite child-like normally. Her favorite food is meat.

History: Grew up with relatively normal parents and had a relatively normal life-- it’s honestly strange the way Alice came out. Nurture isn’t everything it seems when it comes to her. Even when her Gift was revealed, her parents didn’t treat her any differently and continued to love her for who she was. It is probably this unconditional love that enabled Alice to stay her quirky self.
When she saw anyone getting picked on in school, Alice was quick to jump in and intervene to the best of her ability. Of course, this doesn’t always turn out well for her, sometimes causing her to sustain bruises from her interventions. Despite this, Alice shrugs it off and continues almost unflinchingly in her optimism and need to enact justice. After hearing about Gifted converging on a mysterious place known as Derika, Alice decided she wanted in on the fun too.

Alice flourished in Brinkhaven due to its culture of freedom, which enabled her to do as she pleased without judgement. Under the Factions' guidance, she learned how to use her Gift to their full potential and eventually earned a spot as a Faction officer in the Elemental Faction. While very quirky, she is highly competent in carrying out her assigned tasks.

Appearance: 5' 3”

Gift: Digestion-based Matter Manipulation

Personality: Serious, calculating, tends to eat whenever possible. Cautious, but tends to resort to violence if stressed. Not terribly emotional on the outside, unless it’s something food-related.

History: Born in Osaka, Japan; Haku grew up in a place where food is celebrated and an overall colorful environment. Her parents brought Haku up to be a well-behaved, straightlaced child.

When Haku’s Gift manifested in the form of suddenly levitating the water that she drank before, her family told her to use it for the good of Japan. So, Haku willingly went to work for Japan’s government and her family received good compensation in exchange. She gladly served Japan by essentially manufacturing complex, but not technological goods.

Later however, she was transferred over to ETG and received combat training. There, she made lots of friends and was very well taken care of. She believed that what the ETG did was right, and that the Gifted on Brinkhaven were nothing but trouble. The rumors that accused ETG of Gifted experimentation and torture were scoffed at by her, since the ETG would never do something like that--she was treated very well after all.

In a ETG vs. Factions conflict, Haku was the sole survivor of her group and was captured by the Factions. The Factions attempted to extract any important information from her, but failed to do so. It was decided that her memories would be wiped and given false ones that favored the Factions instead.

Haku currently is a Dimensional Faction member.

Name: Vivian Chang

Age: 19

Gift Summary: Plant Manipulation

Personality: Adventurous, mildly rebellious, and courageous; Vivian strives to be an independent women that breaks the traditional gender roles. Scares easily, especially when it comes to spiders and has a moderate dislike for bats. Loves to play video games and extremely interested in the occult and supernatural. Is very hardworking and determined. Plays the flute and gardens in her free time. Despite practice, Vivian remains amateur at swordsmanship.

History: Born to a fairly conservative family, she was constantly nagged and forced to act like a “proper lady”. Her father ran a general store in a rural town and her mother was a stay at home mother content with her place in the household. Vivian wanted none of that life and dreamed of adventuring and exploring. She secretly bought a sword by saving up her weekly allowance and snuck out of the house at night to practice her swordsmanship. Vivian also dyed her hair purple, much to the disapproval of her parents. When her Gift manifested, causing some of the local flora to grow rapidly, she became practically worshipped in her town. People came to her, begging for good harvests and showered her with gifts. Vivian felt like she was being unwillingly forced into another role from all the expectations that rested on her shoulders now. When rumors of Derika reached her, she felt like it was almost too good to be true. A place with fantasical beasts and strange flora? One where she could truly be herself and not be judged for it? In any case, it was still much preferable to the sleepy rural town she resided in and something worth striving for even if it proved false. One night Vivian packed her sword, flute, and some change of clothes and ran away-- eventually finding herself in transit to Derika.

Name: Kugo Stark

Age: 17

Gift Summary: Pyrokinesis- his skin can make a substance that excites the energy around him when he tenses up and focuses on making the flame he can create a 'spark' which helps make an 'ignition'. Since the skin helps activate or excite the ionize molecules around him he can create the flame. Though it may be strong it can be slow to activate leading him to be open to attacks, he also can hurt himself using the stronger flames if he doesn't know how to control them. His flames slowly go form a light red to a dark blue as he powers it up. Also if he tries to use stronger flames he won't be able to keep it on for a long time unlike if he uses weaker flames.

Appearance: He has black on one side and fades to white on the other his eyes are a glowy yellow.

Personality: Despite how he looks he actually is pretty outgoing, though like some people he does have a pretty short temper if things end up becoming dire he can become stress leading him to be like that. he does try to be kind but he does end up telling you the truth flat out. If he does get mad he can do irrational things.


History: He has a mom, dad, and a brother they all lived in a small house. his dad left him a few years ago since he became a criminal because the people he hung around. His dad had a more cold type personality and his mom was more outgoing which is where he got his personality from. His older brother helped train him while he was growing up and soon it might just pay off. His brother always wanted to be a hero but soon they found out he didn't have a gift and soon started to develop a hatred for Kugo soon instead of becoming a hero his brother thought of becoming a villain/criminal like his dad. Since heroes and criminals where being hunted he decided to leave and so he did leaving his mother and brother.

Name: Tenten Emilia

Age: 18

Gift Summary: Black matter control

Tenten's body is made of black matter, allowing her to transform into different ages of herself. She can mimic items if she has enough of black matter to construct it. Black matter can also be used to mimic weapons and shoot projectiles. Black matter looks and acts like black ink. It can become solid and turn into liquid in a matter of seconds. Tenten can transform into a black blob of black matter and slip through cracks or any small space. Hitting her in this form is pretty much like hitting water.

This Tenten's true appearance. She's 5'4 feet and weighs around 115 pounds. Her eyes are silver with a silver undertone. Tenten changes her hairstyle regulary but likes ponytails the most so her hair won't be in her face. She's slightly flat chested, making her seem younger than what she really is. Tenten also wears a lot of sailor outfits and school uniforms, but she occassionly wears outfits outside that range.

4'2 and 90 pounds. She has shorter hair then her adult appearance. Her appearance in this form is 9 years old.

Personality: Tenten is childish and cunning. She likes to play games whenever she is bored. However, she is kind and can't resist helping people who are in trouble. She can become surprisingly mature in serious situations. Also, Tenten often sneaks around and eavesdrops on people she find intresting. This often ends up with her terrozing her victim with pranks.

History: Tenten lived in a wealthy home. Her parents owned private school's in various countries which contributed to the wealth of the family. Tenten attended her family's private school in the countryside of Florence before attending public school in her junior year.
Tenten learned about her powers at the age of nine. She turned into a black blob of liquid and shot projectiles at robbers when she was attacked at a convenience store. Her parents decieded to keep her powers a secret even they were awed by her power. Before leaving the store, they shushed the cashier and the police with money to forget the whole accident.

After she graduated from high school, Tenten decided to sneak into Derika. She heard a lot of stories about people like her living in the city so decided to check it out herself. She also wanted to get out of her parents grip and explore the world more by herself.

Other: Tenten carries daggers that are hidden around her clothing. She also has a long range taser that her father gave her after convenience store accident. Tenten also carrues around a black bag that is shaped as bunny. Occassionly, she'll pull out a handheld game console along with junk food to keep herself busy.

She can make traps that similair to the ones in the movie "Home Alone".

She has an obssession over reverse harem animes and dating simulators.

Personality: Light-hearted would be one word to describe Markus. Devilish would be another. The teen's mind is filled with seemingly one thing; the next joke, prank, or, god forbid pun he might make. Swift on his feet and deft with his hands he was practically built for what he does. Markus is rather clingy being exceptionally friendly to most people he meets. He is deathly afraid of dogs and is a motorcycle enthusiast.

History: Markus was born in Michigan, without much to do with his hands, and an uncle who knew how to flick cards and do neat tricks with them living in their house, he began to put his free time into the deck of cards that his uncle tossed to him on a quiet night. While his grades were a steady mediocre his hands learned how to slide a card under his sleeve, make them disappear and reappear behind someone's ear. While he did so he slowly grew his infamous streak of pranks and practical jokes, some elaborate and some a one off joke.

It was at age 16 he learned of his ability. To be able to swap the location of two objects he was ecstatic at first. It was a dream come true; something to make a crack in concrete for someone to trip on and many other things. At 17 he shared the fact that he had a Gift, said friend was practically his blood brother; his friend that came from his childhood.

Then the friend disappeared, with not even his family knowing where he went Without much of a clue Markus went on for a few years attempting to find his friend, then he learned more of Derika. Within the fresh possibilities of Derika he decided to give a visit.

History: Abbey’s mother, Mrs. Lyon, was a wealthy Irish woman, obsessed with fame and prestige. Her wealth and standing was what drew Abbey’s father to her mother. A renowned Korean scientist, Abbey’s father married into the Lyons family for the reputation that he thought befit his intellect. While the couple had poor compatibility, they put up with it for Abbey’s sake, and because a divorce would be a scandal in the circles they ran in.

Two selfish, prideful people that barely loved each other, Abbey’s parents argued and bickered over the smallest of things, with Abbey herself often caught in the crossfire. Private school became an escape for her—a place where things were simple, where she could focus on innocent learning and bond with friends her own age. When she manifested her Gift at age 8, even that was taken from her. Abbey’s academic ability suddenly spiked, and she was pulled out of school to be homeschooled by her father.

Where Mr. Lyon’s own research had stagnated, he recognized the savant-level talent Abbey held in biotech. Under her father’s specialized tutelage, Abbey absorbed information rapidly and before long surpassed her own father. While she had difficulty conveying her research to her father, with time and patience he was able to understand what she developed. Soon enough, he was able to patent a piece of cutting-edge medical technology under his own name, achieving the fame and renown he always hungered for, even if it was undeserved. Before long, the Lyon’s family was catapulted into the ranks of the socialite elite.

In order to fit in with her new peers, Mrs. Lyon felt she had to spend fortunes on party after party, quickly squandering their newfound fortunes. At the same time, Abbey’s father hungered for more awards and ever-greater renown. Both parents pushed their daughter to produce innovations faster and more effectively than ever. Abbey was soon reduced to nothing more than a golden goose that could only hope for affection proportional to the money her next invention would produce.

Stressed and depressed, Abbey’s works contained ever worsening mistakes that spiraled her family further and further into debt. The final nail in coffin was a simple mistake brought about by a corporate spy. A single professional broke into the Lyon family’s estate, shot the family dog Judas, and stole all of Abbey’s most complex work, that which she hadn’t been able to convey to her father. Analysis of the research revealed impossibly advanced designs, far beyond what Abbey’s father had been known to be researching. News of this caught ETG’s interest, and they concluded Mr. Lyons was Gifted.

He disappeared three days later, taken while on his way to a conference he’d been invited to speak at. He lasted a full day before breaking. Meanwhile, through heavy augmentation, Abbey had managed to save Judas’s life. Having once overheard a family friend mention Derika was full of people like her, she grabbed a bunch of her mother’s jewelry and fled with only her faithful doggo as company.

Personality: Initially extremely apathetic to the rights of others due to a culture of justified violence, Jake is slowly recovering some chill. Still, he’s too serious about things. Jokes are often lost on him, and his face is afflicted with a permanent deadpan. As an upside, no one can tell if he’s being sarcastic or not when he says certain things.

He is also not a particularly good conversationalist, so don’t expect much from him. Poor social skills abound.

History: Jake grew up in an ETG-funded orphanage, never being able to remember his parents or former life. He was told that his family was dead and had abandoned him. As he was discovered to be a useful Gifted early on, Jake was groomed to become a powerful asset to ETG operations in the future. He received grueling and unethical training without a say in the matter. The treatment had long-term negative effects on his developing psyche, and he ended up cold and largely unemotional. The divorce of his emotions from his decision-making allowed Jake to better resist the subtle conditioning meant to instill a sense of loyalty in ETG trainees.

Upon meeting his older brother Liam during a mission, coupled with the lingering doubts Jake already held about ETG, Jake was convinced to accompany Liam instead of continuing to serve ETG. He arrived at Derika with his brother and soon after joined the Dimensional faction.

Personality: Easy-going and good natured, Liam takes life at his own pace, at times whimsical and impulsive. He used to be quite cheerful and outgoing, but after recent events he is slightly quieter and more cautious.

History: Liam was born to a to a normal mother and a Gifted father, gaining a younger brother a year later. Unknown to the rest of the family, Liam’s father was an ETG escapee, and had failed to cover his tracks perfectly. ETG orphaned Liam when he was only seven, both his mother and father dying as his father fought back using parts of his Gift he’d only discovered after he escaped. With a strong grudge against ETG, Liam waited until he grew old enough to run away from his foster home and find a hidden gathering of Gifted working to resist ETG.

At the City of the Gifted, Liam was reunited with his younger brother Jake, who’d been discovered as Gifted early on after his parents died, and taken into an ETG foster program. The younger brother had been running missions for ETG and was currently infiltrating the city. The city itself was on its last legs, about to fall due to poor management and an impending ETG raid. After barely convincing Jake to switch sides, the two escaped the city and traveled to Derika to recover.

Soon after entering the city, Liam joined the Dimensional faction alongside his brother and threw himself into fighting ETG. During a particularly reckless raid on an ETG base, he was captured and brutally tortured for information. Mutilated within an inch of his life, Liam was rescued in the nick of time and was eventually brought back to Brinkhaven to be restored to normal. Although perfectly physically health—not even a trace of a scar remaining—Liam finds he still isn’t healed.

Personality: Headstrong, determined, hasty, and stubborn. When Rika fails, she will continue doing the same thing until it works, or she can’t continue. Not the most perceptive person. Rike tries to be very upbeat, and not let much get her down. She doesn't always succeed.

History: Rika was raised by a single father, who was also the man that taught her the way of the sword. , who in turn tried his very hardest to be cool—wielding his blade to slay baddies and defeat evil. Pretending to be reluctant about it, he taught Rika the blade as well.

She grew up in utter admiration of her father, who raised her alone. From a young age, she came to utterly admire and idolize her father for his abilities, for he was a true master of the blade. Without the aid of a Gift—for Rika’s father was only a mortal man—he could cut down enemies from meters away using only a single swing. He was so precise that he could cut the clothes off an enemy, but leave the flesh beneath unharmed. He moved faster than the eye could see, able to be everywhere in a room at once.

If you haven’t realized yet, Rika’s father was definitely Gifted. After initially lying to a young Rika about his swordsmanship skills in order to look cooler, he couldn’t bring himself to tell her the truth. Naturally, he hid all news of Gifted from Rika. Whenever Rika would ask him the secret behind his impossible feats, he’d pat her head and tell her she wasn’t ready yet, that she needed to train harder first. Things only got worse when Rika started displaying blatantly impossible feats of speed as well. Consumed by the possibility of being outed and losing his cute daughter’s admiration, Rika’s father eventually couldn’t handle the stress and broke. Cryptically, he told Rika to travel alone to Derika, where she could learn the truth herself. Rika interpreted this as a warrior pilgrimage and set off eagerly to unlock the true depths of her abilities and finally surpass her father in skill!

Personality: Elias is smart, or to some people he is, to the many others', he's a slacker, a lazy good-for-one-use-only slacker. He just doesn't apply himself, everything to him is easy so why should he go out and make things difficult, at what point would he go save a girl when he could visualize saving a girl? Since everything in the world seems to have obvious answers, he's constantly in an apathetic state and never really needs or wants to do anything. His lifestyle only becomes harder when he's constantly in paranoia and fear, not to the point of him hiding underground but to where communicating respectfully and wholeheartedly is a difficult feat to muster.

One last thing that people who engage with Elias should know, when he's motivated and interested enough in a topic or subject, he'll actually do something other than sit around. And given the time and motivation, Elias will finish whatever he started.

History: A rather simple life, Elias grew up in a small household with his father, mother, sister and brother and all of them got along fairly well until he and his siblings developed their gifts, all different and rather complex. There wasn't much to Elias' life besides containing himself and making sure he doesn't become some military strategist by accident. Once adulthood reached he and his siblings, they said their farewells and went on their separate paths, Elias kept in touch with them until he just stopped getting replies and answers. Once Elias heard of ETG he began to become paranoid, most of what Elias heard of ETG was that they were cleaning the streets and containing gifted criminals but once word of innocent never-hurt-a-fly type of people began to disappear, Elias realized it was time for him to leave his cake and not eat it.

And so, Elias is traveling to Derika to not only escape the things that worry him but also to start over and get a fresh start, it's not like he needed one though.

A dolphin appeared in front of her but it was ordinary dolphin, it was made out of water. She waved her hand infront of it to see if it would do something and it did. She was so excited to quickly went home and showed her parents. Her parents were scared of course but for her well being. Her uncle worked for ETG. They kept her powers a secret for two years until they found out about Derika. They had a long discussion about it until they decided to send her over to Derika. Before she arrives, she decided to do the Immigration Department.

Appearance: Despite his age, his Gift keeps him looking young, having slowed his apparent aging gradually but exponentially. He has dark hair, brown eyes, and a fairly plain wardrobe consisting of mostly dull colors. Rather tall.

Personality: Generally mild-mannered, Valen is outgoing and approachable. His methodical nature makes him highly reliable, though it also makes him easy to mess with. While chiefly motivated by self-interest, it's not for lack of conscience.

History: Originally intending to join the military, Valen was invited to and subsequently hired by the ETG through the power of nepotism. From there he went on to serve as a generic mook, apprehending "rogue" Gifted until his own Gift was awakened. It was initially valued highly, and he was assigned to more demanding targets. This backfired as he failed time and again to meet the lofty expectations his Gift commanded. In the end, he was delegated to internal affairs where he could be put to use doing any dangerous job the ETG needed done: Personal trainer who couldn't be hurt by their trainee, Gifted handler who couldn't be hurt by prisoners and R&D's test dummy who couldn't die no matter how unstable the weapon. Over the years, Valen came to occupy a position as right-hand man to Aaron, head of the R&D department and the friend who got him the job in the first place. Eventually Aaron informed him that he intended to betray the ETG, which included blowing the entire facility to kingdom come and escaping with all the captured Gifted around to Derika, through a contact of his. As far as Valen could tell, the heel-face turn was as a result of Aaron finishing one of his ridiculous experiments and not needing ETG resources any longer. Seeing as how Valen's job tended towards unpleasant and how he was financially well-off, he went along with it, and for doing so, attained amnesty as part of Aaron's conniving negotiations beforehand. Ultimately, Valen ended up living in Brinkhaven, primarily working for Aaron on his various pet projects.

Weapons: Lacking innate offenses, Valen relies on handguns and grenades primarily. Aaron insists on putting lasers on everything, which has caused Valen to prefer traditional weapons even if less practical. Has also received extensive hand-to-hand combat training because of his past jobs.

Kicking off with all the dread and imposing presence you would expect from an unkillable enemy, this song carries the serious tone Valen does as a combatant. The booming trumpets and cymbals embody his militaristic means of combat. Even throughout all that however, the song maintains the nonchalance of his mild disposition. Once you get used to it, the trumpets and cymbals kind of lose the feeling of being so scary, appropriately matching how most regard him, both in-universe and out.

Appearance: Black hair, blue eyes, average height, and an excessively sophisticated wardrobe. Deeply concerned with his appearance, though tries to hide it in front of others.

Personality: A little dense, though critically so. Gregarious, with flirtatious and overall intrusive tendencies. Overall, he's an intensely social person, and can accordingly come off to some as a creep. Although amicable in conduct, he often fails to take a hint. Tries to portray himself with an air of sprezzatura and suaveness, though his success varies. Cares far too much about how others think of him.

History: Verik is among the Gifted who wanted to turn their Gift into a career but wasn't able to find an easy way to do so and ultimately had to settle for jobs where his Gift was not pertinent. He looked up to the ETG, but because he had no Gifted friends that stuck around as he got to a working age, he had basically nothing to demonstrate for them. He could claim to be Gifted and then prove it later, but that would be completely unprofessional. That isn't just an excuse to procrastinate either, but something his personality would not allow. Sick of the jobs of his past and present, when he caught wind of Derika some years later, he immediately decided to head there. The largest Gifted population in the world and a power like his go hand in hand, and perhaps he could finally use it for the ends he's desired.

Although the guitars of his intrusive personality and the talkative synth might give the wrong impression, Verik is quick to smooth things over with the jazzy feel of the piano and saxophone, capturing well how he would have everyone see him as. The song goes on to portray his apparent optimism with bright tones, but the guitars contradict it. The woodwinds come in, but they end in a melancholy feel as well. The guitar goes on as if losing its composure, and the song loops over and it's as if nothing ever happened. As the same thing happens again, the guitars cry out, as if fed up with all of it; everything Verik wants and is trying to be. But of course, immediately afterwards, it goes back to the sounds of a smiling flirt with no respect for personal space.

Redheaded, an ever present flush, amber eyes, and tanned skin across a body obviously used to physical labor and rough work. No tattoos, surprisingly, though a number of scars. Accompanied by an ever present, ragged and tattered trenchcoat, the alcoholic smell of which singes nostrils.

Personality: Spunky, loudmouthed, free-spirited, and stubborn, Olivia is quick to make new friends and loyal to the bone. Almost entirely buzzed and hardly sober, the girl's impulse control and inhibitions are at all time lows, and can come across as brash and impudent. Chaffing at authority and even most mild restrictions, her ever drunken state leaves her quick to anger, forgive, and forget, practically air-headed in nature and dangerous to come across--Or so it seems. The wandering drunk has proved her mind sharper than steel and quicker than a bear trap at times, and those who know her well will inevitably sometimes wonder if the girl is just obfuscating stupidity sometimes. Making everybody just believe her stupid. But there's no way..

History: A vagabond, a wanderer, and an alcoholic, Olivia has traveled the world, doing odd jobs and running from debt collectors her dark and mysterious past. Born in the slums of Melton, Victoria, the girl grew up in an orphanage, picking fights with children twice her size. Through this period of her life, she learned to fight dirty, biting legs and punching throats alike when her silver tongue wouldn't work. An unruly girl, she watched what little friends and peers she had leave the orphanage one by one as she was left to rot. She hid her bitterness with an air of laid back mischief, slowly moving away from fights and into pranks, not that it made her punishments any less severe.

At the age of 11, having given up any hope of being adopted, a strangely dressed woman walked through the doors of the termite ridden orphanage, asking to adopt her. Hesitant, but inwardly giddy, the girl instantly agreed. Forms were signed, hands were shaken, and in less than a week she was sitting in the back of a car, cleaner then anything she had ever seen in her life, being driven to her new home in Melbourne by her new foster mother. Things were looking up for Olivia.

Then she was knocked out, drugged, and strapped to an operating table.

The next thing she remembered was waking up in a ramshackle boat off the shores of Melbourne, debris and blood scattered among the tides as sirens rang in the distance as what she later learned to be a hangover pounded through her skull. Terrified, confused, and utterly bitter, she ransacked the boat's alcohol storage and drank herself to sleep once more, allowing the winds to guide her boat through the sea.

Eventually rescued by a passing cargo ship, the girl soon learned that nothing was free, not even goodwill. As the "cargo" boat went from country to country, Olivia got the feeling that their dealing weren't exactly clean, or even normal. Nothing as far as human trafficking or organ trade, but drugs, guns, and explosives weren't exactly legal. Nonetheless, as long as the girl had food in her stomach, she couldn't have cared less. By picking up her own weight and doing odd jobs for the crew of the ship, they dropped her off on her 16th birthday with a list of contacts, a keg of vodka, and a pat on the back, wishing her well.

Now, on the cusp of adulthood, where other girls her age should be studying in college or applying for work, she had drunkenly boarded a definitely not that safe looking boat, finally deciding to make her way to the (in)famous island of Gifted.

Olivia fights as if locked in a bar battle, using whatever dirty trick or object she can find to reach her objective, most of the time to simply knock her opponent out before they could keep her from fleeing the scene. With chairs, tables, knives, bottles, and once in a while small firearms, the girl has years of experience on the road. Somewhere along the line, she took a trip to Asia, learning martial arts to compliment her usual bar-fight/knifing style, and along with it, the ire of the Chinese community.

Despite her drunken and disheveled demeanor, Olivia is far more observant and cunning then at first glance, has a wide range of skills from various odd jobs, and is surprisingly knowledgeable, knowing German, Spanish, Latin, Chinese, Taiwanese, a bit of Japanese, and British/Australian slang--Which basically counts as a language of it's own--Even without the assistance of her Gift. Not to mention heavy experience in gymnastics, parkour, motorcycling, and marksmanship, wherever the hell she picked those up.

Kineticists are living channels for elemental matter and energy, manipulating the world around them by drawing upon inner reserves from their own bodies. Kineticists often awaken to their kinetic abilities during a violent or traumatic experience, releasing their power involuntarily. As kinetic power is seldom inherited, kineticists are rarely able to find mentors to guide them, so they must delve into these mysteries on their own to learn to control their gifts.

Kailee's Kineticist powers manifested in a rather abnormal way in that hers took on a melee form as opposed to the standard of a ranged blast. Kailee has learned, through training and experimentation to manipulate her control of the primal forces of magic to perform imitations of some spells in a way that she calls Spell-Like Abilities. The primary of these so called Spell-Like Abilities that she uses is one she calls Kinetic Healer. A move where Kailee channels the energy of Aether into a healing wave that effects only one person.

Kailee stands at 5' 2" weighing in at 93 lbs, a tiny twig of a woman with long pure white hair that she normally has done up in a single braid she rests over her shoulder. Her skin is alabaster white with copious freckles and sea foam green eyes that shine with the light of a woman who has seen too much but refuses to give up.

Personality: Kailee generally is a kind soul, never wanting to cause harm if she can avoid it. That being said, sometimes it is necessary and will not hesitate to jump into the fray if violence is called for. She prefers to spend her nights wrapped in a warm blanket with a cup of tea and a good book, or even the occasional video game. She is not opposed to men, though she is VERY slow to trust them after the Night of Darkness as she has come to call it.

History: Hailing from Ireland, though not actually Irish, Kailee rose through her life as a successful business woman, eventually establishing herself as a prominent member of society in Dublin, where she owned a rather expansive home for the region. She had it all, money, respect, adoration, a loving wife. All in all, a perfect life most would say. Some people, though, can not stand perfection, reality or not. One night, in the middle of her latest read there came a crash as of glass shattering. Shocked, Kailee jumped up and called the Police right away wanting to take no risks, but the Police were woefully slow getting to her house. Upon arrival, the Police stumbled into the most gruesome scene any had ever seen, one such that made many a veteran officer lose their meals. Kailee's wife, Caoilainn, lay sprawled out in the living room, her throat slit. The house a wreck, almost as if a wind storm had blown through the house itself. Worst of all was the master bedroom. Kailee sat slumped against the far wall, clothes ripped and torn such that she was nearly naked and covered and some sticky fluid. However, what made the Police wretch was the rest of the room, human bodies all over, mangled, distorted, shredded, and otherwise obliterated. Somehow one was merged with the bed frame, his face contorted in a scream of pure agony. Blood and viscera covered nearly every inch of the once beautiful room.

Having lost it all, and having somehow gained mysterious new powers, Kailee knew she had to leave Ireland for good. After some cleanup was done, she had one of her assistants grab her a weeks worth of supplies, a few changes of clothes, and her wedding ring. With everything she wanted/needed now in hand Kailee turned over full control of her company to the board and left Ireland in search of something, what that was she had no idea, but something. She roamed the land, a vagabond, no direction, no cause, nothing. Kailee did have her new powers though, and those she trained every chance she got so that incident would never happen again unless she wished it. It was during this time that Kailee discovered many of her abilities and honed her powers to be a force for good and healing, rather than destruction.

One day, while walking back through Dublin, Kailee heard about Derika. Kailee knew that she had to somehow make her way there. So Kailee, using some serious stealth and a touch of her powers, snuck aboard an international shipping freighter bound for Derika.

Personality: Outgoing with a bit of a penchant for being melodramatic. He can be brash and reckless at times, and never backs down from a challenge. While he enjoys a good dust up, he's never seriously hurt anyone, let alone killed. Despite his outward confidence, he is struggling to find his place in the world, and feels he lacks a sense of purpose in life.

History: The son of Greek immigrants to the US, Lysander grew up in a rural area on a farm. He had no complaints about his family, but found farm life tedious and uninteresting, always wanting to see more of the world and to do something worthwhile, though even he would admit he had little idea of what that could be. After he became an adult, he left home and began wandering the country. At first he enjoyed seeing new places and meeting new people, but he eventually started to become despondent that even after all his traveling, he hadn't found a purpose in life.

When he first began to awaken to his gift, Lysander thought his prayers had been answered, that it was a sign that he should become a hero. Unfortunately for him, through a combination of bad luck and not really knowing what he was doing, many of his attempts at "heroing" fell flat, or just didn't work out. Feeling that sometimes he was just making things worse, Lysander decided to journey to Derika, knowing about its large gifted population, and figuring he might be able to learn something there.

Personality: Ron is a very righteous person, who believes that he is an ally of justice, hence the name "Knight of Justice." He considers himself a hero who vanquishes evil wherever he goes. However, he tends to judge people a lot or jump to conclusions. More often than not, he gets the wrong idea of who the "evildoer" is. He never kills people, just incapacitate or restrict. Ron takes pride in himself and his "duty". However, when it comes to having fun, Ron can unwind a bit. Otherwise, he's a pretty serious person.
History: Ron grew up in a normal American family. If anything, his parents were very strict. He was a pretty social child and always outgoing and fun-loving. However, he began to change a little bit when he first heard of comic books and superheroes. He wanted to be just like them, but his parents managed to convince him it was impossible. They told him that only special people could be heroes. They convince. However, he discovered that he did have a gift. Ron decided to ignore his parent's advice. He used his Knight of Justice discreetly. Although he wanted to, he refrained appearing in public and helping in the sidelines instead. Fortunately, his parents found out before he did anything too stupid. Although they didn't really mean it, they gave him an ultimatum. Give up on being a hero or leave their family, so Ron left. The only thing that gave him the courage to leave was the rumors of a place where Gifted could live freely.

Personality: Lacey is cheerful, hyper and outgoing with a awkward aura about her, be that laughing too hard and much or making inappropriate jokes at the wrong time. Lacey is impulsive and gets bored with long and complex speeches with only one person talking, yet she is very talkative. Despite her upbeat and friendly persona Lacey is greedy and self centered in her heart, her actions reflecting this can be described as kleptomaniacal as she is very prone to stealing from others for her own benefit- especially things of monetary value. She is incredibly stingy and will do anything if it means avoiding spending money. She is a distrustful person when it comes to serious matters and as a result has problems creating deep connections with people and greatly lacks empathy. History: Lacey’s mother had been recently widowed. Her mother and father had been together for decades, he passed during her pregnancy and she was left alone with their daughter. The daughter that would be the key to filling the hole in her heart. Lacey was spoilt, she was given every material thing she could’ve ever wanted: sweets, toys, electronics, magazines and clothes. With no siblings, she never learnt how to share at home and ran into some issues at school. She would take things from other people just because she wanted to, at first she didn’t understand what was wrong with that but, she kept getting into trouble at school and, as the years went by, she grew a moral compass.

Lacey’s mother soon discovered her gift when her daughter was ten, Lacey was staring directly at the sun- and when her mother came to stop her she was shocked. Her daughter was completely fine. It only got stranger when she found that Lacey was able to project light around the house during a blackout. Her mother told Lacey that her ability was special and Lacey continued to work on training herself with her ability so she could make her mother smile with her light shows.

Fast forward to early teenage years, Lacey was with her friends at a supermarket after school. They were buying food to eat before they went out together and Lacey saw one of them slip a packet of gum into her sleeve as she walked away from the cashier. Lacey was confused, her friend knew this was bad, she watched as her friend lifted her arm above the sensor while ‘yawning’ as she exited the supermarket.

Nothing bad happened to her friend. No one was upset she stole the gum. Lacey saw her other friends doing the same thing, each with their own unique tactic to steal. It had been a few years since Lacey had stolen but the temptation had still there. Now It was clear to her that there was one rule to stealing: it’s only an issue if you get caught. Immediately Lacey went over to the sweet section, stuffing as much as she could discreetly fit into her clothes before trying something unique too.

Lacey stood slightly away from sensors, Lacey had been meaning to try this for a while. Ever since she learnt how the eye worked at school. Lacey felt the light rays shine around her. She had gotten much better at controlling them, their direction especially. She concentrated really hard, the light rays began to swerve around her, if the light never touched her, it could never reflect off her and then no one would be able to see her. She watched her friends’ faces go from impressed and mouthing words of encouragement to horrified as she disappeared. Lacey felt so alive, she knew it was wrong. She knew it but she just wanted to do it, it felt so thrilling. Lacey had forgotten this feeling. She began to walk through the sensors, but she felt herself losing focus. She let the rays hit her a few times and her body parts flickered into view and then disappear again.

Just then the sensors went off and beeped. Her friends screamed, causing Lacey to lose all focus as come completely back into view. She then tried to run for it, only to be blocked by security. Out of impulse and fright, Lacey directed a bright beam of light into his eyes. He recoiled and let go, his palms over his closed, red, watering eyes. Taken aback by it all, Lacey passed out.

She woke up later with her mum, and policemen. They told her mother what happened and that the security man was trying to press charges for damage to his eyes. Her mother scolded her, rejected Lacey’s mentality that it was her friends’ fault and told her not to trust people like that. Knowing full well that Lacey wouldn’t be able to return to school there without some backlash, and with knowledge of her gift they might view her differently. After talking it over with her daughter, Lacey agreed the best place to go would be Derika- so she could be with people like her and put her gift into good use.

Lynx is a calming person to be around , she is funny and a little serious at times. She is mostly a calm and cheerful person. That is sometimes if she isn't in the mood , she stays quite and tries to avoid everyone.

History:
Lynx used to live up in Dallas Texas when she was younger as she got older her parents found out she was gifted. They were so excited until they saw her horrible powers. They were so scared of their own daughter ,they locked her in her room when she got around the age of seven until eighteen years only letting her out for food , school and restroom.

When she turned eighteen , lynx had enough ,she was now eighteen and still not had one birthday or any kind of rights. Lynx had heard about this place called derika. She had service on her phone so with GPS , she was able to find the place . When she did Lynx looked like she was starving and ready to drop from her tiring journey. Lynx was allowed in because she had the appearance of suffering , she spent a while in the school recovering but as she stayed , she had tried to control a shadow on the wall near her , which in fact she did move it near her. This Attracted many staff who wanted her to stay so she could learn. Lynx at this moment just agreed to stay as she was happy for someplace to live.

Gift Summary: Dan has the ability to shrink his body down to incredibly small sizes. As it turns out, this change is permanent, and cannot be reversed, and as such he is currently stuck at half a centimeter tall. He could probably make himself even smaller, but, well, why would he?

Appearance: Dan is quite slender for his height, something he was know for when he was younger. He keeps his dark brown hair fairly long, just barely sitting above his hazel eyes. Of course, most of this detail is largely irrelevant unless someone looks at him real, real close, due to the fact that he is only 5mm tall. He usually wears a set of makeshift clothes, made of bits of cloth he's found recently, usually with a bandanna to control his hair.

Personality: Dan's most defining trait is his curiosity, something that has only been amplified by his ability. He's the first to seek out new places to explore (no matter how mundane) and as such is often the first to get into trouble. He does care about other people, but having literally lived in their shadows for so long, he often finds it difficult to truly connect with others, and tends to feel largely inferior to just about anyone as a result of this.

History: Dan was born to a reasonably well-off family, the youngest child of a pair of typical middle-class parents. His upbringing was relatively normal and uneventful, being educated much like any other teenager would have, although he lived slightly in the shadow of his older siblings. However, his abilities activated at the age of 15 while on a school trip, and he soon found himself lost in a world that was much, much larger than he was. As such, he views the world and the people in it in a very different light, finding it difficult to see himself as part of humanity.

He recently travelled to Derika in the hopes of finding some way of reversing his condition, having little success in the outside world.

Gift Summary: Superhuman Digestion / Growth

Appearance: Lexa is considerably well-built, although not abnormally so for her size. Her eyes and hair are usually the first thing people notice about her, being bright green and red respectively, to what is perhaps an unnatural degree. This is accentuated by her equally unnatural pale skin.

Personality: Lexa often comes across as being quite strong-willed, occasionally even aggressive, even when the situation doesn't demand it. Despite this, she isn't necessarily a bad person - she just has a bit if a temper, which occasionally gets out of hand. Loyalty is an incredibly big deal to her, feeling compelled to never let down those she trusts, and being inevitably disappointed when others can't do the same. As time has gone on, and her powers developed, she has felt less and less guilt about hurting other people to get what she wants.

History:
Initially growing up in an orphanage, Lexa has never known her parents. Never really settling down, she was passed from care home to care home from the age of 6, and wasn't adopted or fostered long enough to form any permanent attachments. As such, she chose to live alone when she turned 18, eventually finding work as a store clerk.

This was enough for her, and she was able to settle down happily for a few years. However, soon her abilities became apparent, when she started developing odd cravings - concrete, steel, practically anything at some stage. She ignored them for as long as possible, for fear of being 'weird', but eventually gave in to her temptations, devouring a section of copper pipe. She was surprised by the ease of this, but was unaware of the effects until a few hours later, when she inadvertently dented a solid brick wall.

As she learnt the extent of her abilities, she naturally abused them for her own purposes, earning the name of 'Titanica' in the city of [REDACTED]. For a while, she practically did whatever she wanted whenever she wanted. Eventually, however, she began to see the danger of her power and deteriorating personality, and as such travelled to Derika to start a new, better life.

Personality: Kind of silent, won't start a conversation unless someone else start talking to him. Can't stand too many people in one place for long, prefer the company of few people or a something to read. Prone to get lost in his own head. Can be kind of hammy in the use of his Gift.

History: Born in Italy, the family transfer to England when he was 7 and the to the USA when he was 13. His father and mother got a divorce a year later, with his mother choosing to return to Florence, where she was born, while his father remained in the USA. He then proceeded to alternatively stay with mother and father depending on the time of the year, with Alexander going to school in America and spending his holidays in Italy. Can come out as kind of unapproachable, but mostly is because he don't know how to start and create a healthy relationship with others.

When he got a scholarship from Derika, he chose to grab this opportunity and to accept.

Name: Caedere "Crow" Fiore

Gift Summary: Drastic and freely controlled mutative adaptation, transformation, and regeneration

Personality: A bit rough and insensitive, though never on purpose. Quick-tempered, but has the humility to apologize just as quickly should he find himself in the wrong. A bit spartan overall, he can be rather stern at times. Still, humor is not lost on him, and he lets his hair down every once in a while, usually after consuming alcohol.

History: Out of all the faction leaders, Crow has had the most experience with the ETG. Accordingly, he has the most combat experience as well as the most blood on his hands. Crow never hid his ability, and so the ETG approached him. When he refused to cooperate, they tried to use force, and Crow used force in return. He was quickly declared "dangerous", but he still tried to stand his ground. Like a predator out of nightmares, he terrorized the ETG that came after him in hopes that it would disincentivize his capture. He was even pretty nice about not hurting anyone. Unfortunately, it just made the ETG take more drastic measures. Eventually, his presence became dangerous for the people around him, and Crow had to uproot his life. Frustrated, he began taking his anger out on the ETG who came after him, which only led to a guilty feeling that he couldn't deny the labels given to him.

There wasn't exactly a place he could hide when his face would show up on TV every so often, so after a while, he decided society wasn't gonna work out. He could eat literally anything and produce duct tape on command, so he thought he'd move as far away from mankind as possible and relax there. The mysterious island in the Pacific full of monsters so deadly as to make colonization impractical was a natural choice, and hey, it's not like he even needed a boat.

And so, Crow went camping on Derika for a few years before he was found by Kirin. Kirin introduced Crow to the other founders of Derika, and the rest was history. Turns out that Crow is actually pretty good at carpentry.

Sometime after Brinkhaven was founded, Crow, as the faction leader most willing to train Gifted, was approached by many who wanted to improve their capabilities. It was in this manner that he met the woman that would go on to become his fiancee...

Crow seldom trains Gifted anymore.

Other: Rainbows remind him of his deceased fiancee, as her Gift had a lot of colors attached.

Gift Summary: Creation and manipulation of matter, on both small and large scales.

Personality: Although generally restrained and calm, Kirin is a passionate and dedicated scientist, simply content in his occupation and out of his element when involved in much else. He's rather straight-laced overall, but he's also not afraid to step out of his comfort zone and enjoy himself while doing so.

History: Kirin, being able to go so far as manipulate atoms, believed that he would be able to discern what made a Gifted Gifted and why Derika showed up in the first place. As such, he studied biology, chemistry, and even astronomy. His modest nature kept him from drawing attention by the ETG, but his power, dedication, and intelligence eventually brought him to Derika to independently study its flora, fauna, and phenomena. As he explored, he came across a couple of residents already there, and none of them stood out as much as Rachael. Rachael had aspirations to create a place for Gifted, and had already assembled a number of people to assist in achieving that goal. Kirin figured a base of operations would be much more convenient than going back and forth across the Pacific ocean or burying himself alive for the night, so with his terraforming abilities and plenty of help, they created what would go on to become Derika. It served as the perfect base of operations for Kirin to pursue his interests, and in time it became his home.

Other: More physically able than his appearance would suggest. Said to be popular with women for some inexplicable reason.

Gift Summary: Complete volitional control of the minds of anyone within range

Personality: A bit entitled, but he's well-mannered to most. He's irritable and antisocial, but he is willing to go very far out of his way to help others, provided it's okay for him to complain while doing so. Can be rather scathing when angry, but respects the autonomy of others, give or take the occasional prank. Has quite a low opinion of himself.

History: Amadeus was pretty used to getting whatever he wanted from whoever he wanted and acting as rudely as he so pleased. Unfortunately, there came a time when he tried this on an woman who was immune to his Gift. It turned out that she was undead, under the dominion of another. Having her own will and therefore indignation, she gave Amadeus a painful wake up call. The event even caused Amadeus to develop a phobia for things he cannot control. Still, Amadeus came to reevaluate his life and the way he treated others. He was still a teenager at the time, and his teenage angst began to morph into depression. A few days passed and Amadeus received a visit by a woman named Iradia, accompanied by the undead and someone named Rachael. Although they couldn't talk as long as undead were in the same room, Rachael was eventually able to tell Amadeus her plans for the future, and how she wanted his help to make it a reality. Through his Gift and Iradia's, they could manipulate the wild life to stay away from Brinkhaven, at least until it was secure. It was an incredibly naive and idiotic plan, and he told her so. Still, seeing as how it was better than anything Amadeus had ever thought of doing, he decided it would be a good way to start a new life. He was near the age where he should stop relying on his parents anyway, and assisting in the creation of a utopic nation seemed like a better use of his talents than the other prospects his Gift presented. He didn't want to be "that guy" anymore.

Years passed, Brinkhaven was built, and Amadeus grew to be friends with Rachael. He also became friends with the other faction leaders (give or take Crow) and Rigel. He never became friends with Iradia though. She creeps Amadeus out.

Other: His phobias include robots/androids, animate plants, "inherently idiotic" creatures such as jellyfish, and Gifts that would prevent him from being able to control someone. Since most of the time these involve the undead or functionally undead, he has a phobia of those too. Amusingly, he is not afraid of antinite. Amadeus has a tendency to react violently to his phobias, so it's generally recommended to keep them away from him.

Weapons: The only faction leader that carries a weapon, he uses a simple knife. It's mostly for chopping his phobias to bits.

Gift Summary: The ability to selectively violate the effects of Newton's three laws of motion on objects she is in physical contact with, including herself. She is capable of exerting or halting a specified motion without a cause, changing the relationship between force, mass, and acceleration, and ignoring or amplifying equal and opposite reactions.

Personality: Mostly calm, but irreverent, and has a short fuse. On one hand, she's talented at exercising restraint given how strong she is, but on the other she's unnecessarily violent very often. Despite being the youngest faction leader, she is the most responsible, and devotes the most time towards faction work and helping out where there's a need.

History: Meenah was a wild child. She couldn't be disciplined, and her anger issues were a real problem. Her parents, protective as they were, didn't trust the ETG, regarding it the way one might think of a military school; no place for a "little girl". Rather, they sought professional help, and there were none as qualified in the field of therapy and psychology as Rigel Dorado. To say nothing of her merit, her reputation was glowing. She was known as "simply the best". Although whether she helped Meenah get through her anger issues successfully is debatable, it's hard to deny that she caused an enormous change in Meenah's temperament, who, if nothing else, showed respect to her parents again. Meenah herself came to be good friends with Rigel, and through her met Iradia and Rachael. Meenah was quite young when she first heard of Rachael's goals, but they excited her. Meenah found the constant risk of "military school" stifling, and though she was naive at the time, she stands by her decision today. It took a lot of work and compromise to convince her parents, (Being able to cross the ocean in moments helped) but she was eventually able to help Rachael build Brinkhaven, having the speed and strength to do heavy lifting far faster than just about anyone. Today, Meenah's parents live in Brinkhaven, proud of what Meenah has accomplished, and proud of what she continues to do every day.

Personality: Akira has the social skills to produce meaningless platitudes and at least superficial courtesy. He's pretty patient and humble too. That being said, he's selfish, lazy, irresponsible, cowardly, and perhaps the biggest womanizer on the planet. No one really knows these things, or if they do, they don't think negatively of these traits of his, and don't share them with anyone who does. His luck leads those around him to misinterpret, misunderstand, or mishear indicators of his negative traits, to the point where he comes off as a perfect Mary Sue to pretty much everyone. Even if someone dislikes him because of his perfection, it usually works out in his favor and ultimately ends in admiration for him. If it were to end on a note worse than neutral, he probably wouldn't have come into contact with them to begin with.

It might feel unpleasant for players if he ever has to interact with a player character, but luckily he's literally never off of vacation.

History: Just imagine the most ridiculously serendipitous sequence of events and then make it twice as convenient. Repeat ad nauseum, and you have an ordinary day in the life of Akira. He's a faction leader solely because everyone likes him. He's considered a founding member of Brinkhaven solely because he was there at the time, for no real reason. Even to this day, he doesn't do any actual work, but everyone who knows him will insist that Brinkhaven would not be standing without him. They may be right too. It's hard to tell with a Gift like his.

Personality: Kind and quixotic, she has a large sense of responsibility, and accordingly tends to take on more than she can handle. Because of this, she's known to be moody or heavy-handed at times, but she's a fairly capable person, and her optimism makes her very forgiving. Pretty bad at making difficult decisions.

History: Brinkhaven was Rachael's idea, so everyone (aside from Rachael) agreed that Rachael should be the one to lead it. When I say everyone, I mean it, because Brinkhaven was established with an initial population of 7: Rachael, Rigel, Crow, Kirin, Amadeus, Meenah, and Akira. Though Iradia and Aaron may have helped establish it, neither wanted to live within Brinkhaven at the time, not that they would disagree either.

The first of these Rachael would meet was Iradia. Rachael and Iradia met in their school days, and their friendship has endured the test of time. Iradia was and is an aspiring archaeologist who had the monetary means to travel the world, and every so often Rachael would come along with her. Iradia was the first among them to live on Derika, and her quaint house in a forest clearing is where she still lives today. Her Gift is to resurrect and command the dead, and it was valuable in keeping the wildlife of Derika away from populated areas. Assuming control of a territorial animal and putting it in the right place was enough for her house, and was proof of concept that a town could be established on Brinkhaven, at least with enough time, effort, and the help of Meenah. Through Iradia, Rachael had a base of operation on Derika. Of course, her house couldn't be built in the first place without Rigel and Meenah.

Rigel is an immortal woman who met Iradia by chance. She shared Iradia's fondness of travel, and the two became fast friends. Rigel wasn't as close to Rachael before, but Brinkhaven caught her interest, and her Gift of object creation came in handy for making a bunch of empty buildings a livable city. Although Rigel has hilariously numerous skill sets, her preferred occupation is as a therapist, and she has a reputation of being "simply the best". As Brinkhaven expanded, Rachael came to rely on Rigel's guidance more and more, whether she realized it or not. When Brinkhaven became more than Rachael ever expected it to be, Rigel is the one who most often forced Rachael to take care of herself.

Meenah came next. The youngest faction leader, she was a child when construction of Brinkhaven began. She was a client of Rigel's who had been friends with her for a while. Soon after meeting Iradia and Rachael, she made Brinkhaven her goal as well, excited to have some place, any place, where she didn't have to hide her Gift. Her Gift, manipulation of the laws of motion, allowed her to do heavy lifting that no one else could. I mean, sure, Rigel could have provided tons of raw materials, but she would quickly become a bottleneck.

Amadeus was the last person Rachael met before moving in with Iradia on Derika. It was a chance encounter during a trip to one of Rigel's houses in England. Rachael thought that, to be able to control a territory large enough to support a town, commanding dead wild life wouldn't be enough. Therefore, after hearing about Amadeus' ability, she immediately tried to recruit him. It worked out, and Amadeus joined her circle of friends, and eventually brought to Derika as construction began.

The only "founder" of Derika Rachael never met was Aaron, an old friend of Iradia's. He never set foot on Derika as Brinkhaven was being built, but he did help set up its technological infrastructure at Iradia's request.

The search continued for Gifts useful in making Brinkhaven possible, but where they ultimately found it was right on Derika. Or rather, it found them. Kirin came to Derika for research purposes and came across Iradia's house and Crow's campsite. Although Crow's campsite was prone to wild life attacks, Iradia's house made for a convenient base as he conducted his investigation. In time, Crow couldn't deny the convenience of the utilities Iradia had installed. Iradia's house was made to handle several people after all, fitting for Iradia's Gift. With Kirin's terraforming and Crow's carpentry available, Rachael's proposal was far more feasible than ever before. What could be done in years with Meenah's help was suddenly possible in a few weeks with everyone's help. Just days, if you only included residences for the seven of them who wanted to live there. In gratitude for the hospitality if nothing else, they agreed to build Brinkhaven, and over the time it took to do so, they became friends just as close as the others.

To summarize:
Kirin shaped the land to make it suitable for construction, raised the walls of Brinkhaven and provided empty husks to sculpt.
Meenah crumpled these monoliths into suitable shapes, and worked with Crow to refine them as needed.
Crow handled carpentry, possessing the strength and dexterity to carve out the fine details as appropriate.
Rigel handled interior design. When a building was complete, she filled it with furniture.
Amadeus and Iradia made all of this possible, redirecting, relocating or scaring away the ornery wildlife native to Derika while Brinkhaven wasn't secure.
Aaron helped, but only ever indirectly. As an old friend of Iradia's, when tech was needed, she commissioned him.
Akira was there also. He didn't do anything, but he fell out of a plane (with a parachute) and everyone liked him.

Rachael, since before it was remotely possible, had wanted to create a place where Gifted could be free to express themselves without judgement or undue repercussion. Although it might have been a pipe dream at first, she didn't give up on it and eventually made it a reality.

That is, a town on Derika, in the caldera of a volcano. Technically it was a village, but Rachael planned for it to become a town. However, Rachael never planned for Brinkhaven to grow as rapidly as it did. In only a few years, it became a full-fledged city, with a population density high enough to warrant spatial warping to comfortably fit within the caldera. It turned out that a lot of people didn't trust the ETG, and the horror stories readily available by people rescued from their facilities show that their distrust is not misdirected. Brinkhaven had several conflicts with the ETG. Crow in particular wasn't very concerned with playing nice with them. With every victory came more citizens. Eventually even Aaron defected, who was a part of the ETG for a long time.

Brinkhaven was, is beyond anything Rachael could have ever imagined, and it only continues to grow. Rachael's story is Brinkhaven's story, and Brinkhaven's story is not just about Rachael, but all the friends who made it possible.

Gift Summary: Able to restrict or forbid any explicitly defined action. Those affected are unable to do that which was banned, even if they would normally have no choice. He uses this to maintain immortality (in the ageless sense) for him and Rigel.

Personality: A lonely, straight-laced kind of guy. Not very outgoing and keeps to himself. A bit stiff and stress-prone. Loves classical music and alphabetization.

History: Orion is the first recorded "human" to settle "on" Derika, and one of "only two" "humans" "known" to have "come from" the "world" Derika originated from. He found himself stranded on Derika due to a certain nearby cataclysm, and, after losing his home, decided Derika was as good a place as any to create a new home. Though it took a lot of time and effort, Orion built himself a small cabin, which eventually became a nice house, which eventually became a palace. (He certainly had a lot of time to improve it) He abandoned the idea of returning to civilization. He saw his world as war-torn, and had no desire becoming entangled in its issues any longer. As such, when tectonic disturbances dropped his manor into ruins of a bygone era, he decided to make repairs and keep it there, going so far as to repair the hole that he fell through in the first place. There he lived for centuries, in his mausoleum of isolation, surrounded by empty, old-fashioned houses with "nothing" but the musical instruments he recreated from memory to keep him company.

He didn't even notice the transportation of Derika into another world, nor the founding of Brinkhaven, but eventually there were enough people around for a couple of them to wander into the wrong place and cause him to check what was going on outside. When he did, he found out that his fiancee, Rigel. She was living happily in a futuristic world while he was sitting in a hole pitying himself. He should have figured she was alive, considering it was his doing in the first place, but it's not as if she was invulnerable, and it's not as if he was around to protect her from the wars that would inevitably follow the destruction of their home. His Gift wouldn't alert him one way or the other either. Regardless, Orion made contact with Brinkhaven, wherein the faction leaders and Rachael all quickly got to know him. Rigel is a part of the Brinkhaven government, but she never talks about her past or mentioned that she came from another world, so Orion quickly became a person of enormous interest.

Orion came to associate with the founding members of Brinkhaven. When he started helping Rachael with paperwork on a regular basis, it didn't take much for him to be thrust into a position as Rachael's assistant, and eventually, with unrivaled administrative qualification, Viceroy. Orion simply had the knowledge, the wisdom, and the temperament for the job... plus, it solved a bunch of potential legality issues in one fell swoop. It could be said that Orion legally owns Derika itself, although how well that would hold up in a court of law is debatable.

Orion didn't particularly want the position of viceroy. He was involved with politics once upon a time, and didn't really want anything to do with it again. Still, he could see that Rachael needed help since she seldom delegates work, and organization is his forte. Because his fiancee put her faith and effort into Brinkhaven, he thought he'd try to do so as well.

Orion and Rigel have been avoiding each other since Orion first made his existence known. Nobody's quite sure why, and both of them dodge the topic.

Gift Summary: Object creation - Able to specify a function and receive an object, seemingly created from nothing, that, roughly, has such a function. She can specify the item itself instead of the function, though she might not get what she expects. She frequently receives objects that are cryptically or otherwise unintuitively designed, though they are effective.

Personality: Outgoing and confident, she gives off the impression that she can do anything she sets her mind to. She's open-minded and adventurous, always trying new things. She has domineering tendencies when she believes it's for someone's own good, but she can usually respect when someone needs their space.

History: Rigel lived a mostly ordinary life on a small island in another world. She was happily engaged to her fiance, Orion, when a "cataclysm" "struck" the island, separating them for centuries. The island itself crumbled beneath everyone's feet in a spectacular fashion, flooding and eventually disappearing below sea level. Naturally, countless drowned. Rigel did what she could to save those around her, but she couldn't find Orion. Instead, she drifted off to the nearest inhabited continent and tried to piece together her life from there.

Rigel lived out quite the storied life, taking part in wars, politics, the development of cutting-edge technological advancements, and picking up a truly ludicrous amount of hobbies, appropriate given how she never seemed to age. She was unaware that Orion's Gift was capable of such a thing, and to be fair, so was Orion at the time. Years passed, and those years turned to centuries. Rigel traveled the world, looking for Orion and taking in the sights when she inevitably couldn't find him. There were enough wars to prevent shifts in the status quo, and Derika's status as super Australia an unpleasant land unfit for habitation remained unchanged. Eventually, it was the only place she could image he remained. There was the possibility his Gift worked post-mortem, but she didn't think (or rather, want to think) that was the case, and thankfully, it wasn't. Almost 5 centuries later, she started searching Derika for Orion, and it was during this unfruitful, difficult and time-consuming search that Derika was swapped with Hawaii, bringing her to our world.

Alone in an unfamiliar world with nothing but the equipment she brought for the search, she spent a while simply acclimating to the change (and picking up even more hobbies) while making a living for herself as a therapist. Her life had been uprooted, and she couldn't continue the search on Derika so easily. Still, she could look for him elsewhere, and as she did, she met Iradia, and Iradia introduced her to Rachael. Like Kirin, she could appreciate the premise of Brinkhaven as well as a base of operations on Derika, so the rest went much as you would expect.

Eventually Orion showed up, seemingly out of nowhere, but they've ironically been avoiding each other since.

Gift Summary: Technomancy

Personality: Calculating, callous, and perhaps a bit volatile, he's a mad scientist through and through. He cares only about his projects and his friends, though the number of friends he has can be counted on one hand. Quite the dandy; it's rarely about efficacy so much as sending a message.

History: An indirect founding member of Brinkhaven, he helped set up Brinkhaven's technological infrastructure at Iradia's request, albeit only in the way Ikea helps set up furniture; he designed it and sent it to her piece by piece. He became an ETG scientist before Brinkhaven was built, primarily in order to fund his many various pet projects. Although many of these were of dubious merit and ethics, he didn't have to compete with other technomancers that could produce revolutionary results as easily as he could. In fact, he was the head of ETG R&D. Overall, a very dangerous man.

Aaron eventually betrayed the ETG, hitching a ride on one of his projects alongside Valen, one of his few friends, and all of the facility's captives. He was privy to their less savory actions, and didn't want to eventually get crucified for them. Although Aaron believes he came to this decision himself, he actually lost a bet with a certain someone who challenged him to a chess match. This someone tends to be forgotten by others, but all in all it doesn't really matter for Aaron. With Brinkhaven in a state where he can continue his various projects, it was merely a matter of making negotiations go smoothly, and boy did he have a lot of bargaining chips. Derika was a treasure trove of unique and exotic resources that he couldn't easily access through the ETG. It was a welcome change, though he had to soup up Brinkhaven's defense system if he was to live there, of course.

Although many still (rightfully!) don't trust him because of his personality, track record, and history with the ETG, he's certainly made significant contributions to Brinkhaven.

Other: Invented the world's most sophisticated gaming console, capable of simulating virtual realities that feel just as real as the real world. Unfortunately, it has no other game developers and none of his friends are interested, so he regards it as a failed project.

Gift Summary: Able to mimic the abilities of fictional characters, within certain limits.

Personality: Typically mousey and easily perturbed. Lots of people seem to notice "drastic inconsistencies" in her demeanor, making her a bit unpredictable. Despite claiming an age of 28, she insists that Rana is the older sister.

History: Younger sister to Rana, Xheskha does most of the work involved in maintaining the Brinkhaven public library, despite officially being "second in command". Xheskha uses her Gift to maintain virtual omnipresence within the library, allowing her to handle the many tasks involved in maintaining the library, as well as making it possible to have the entire library freely browsable, without having to rely on a sort of hammerspace arrangement. (Although instant retrieval is an option) Rana spends all of her time reading, so the responsibilities mostly fall to Xheskha.

Rana and Xheskha were part of a decently wealthy family, and inherited their enormous library from their parents. The library itself, as the largest collection of knowledge on Gifted, was naturally targeted by the ETG. It didn't help that its two new owners were Gifted as well. Of course, the ETG weren't the only ones aware of the library's existence, and Rachael invited them to Brinkhaven - and for them to bring the library there. An agreement was reached, and the Da'arcagnan library became the Brinkhaven public library. The library itself is commonly thought to be the largest building in Brinkhaven, at least on the inside, and is larger than any other known library in the world, thanks to Gifts used to expand it. In exchange for allowing public use, albeit with heavy restrictions, Xheskha and Rana live a comfortable life, and constantly expand it further with new additions.

Gift Summary: "Divine possession"; Has the powers of her favorite class (White Mage) from her favorite RPG, Penultimate Pipe Dream. While in control of her faculties, she has the capabilities of a low level White Mage, capable of healing minor cuts and bruises, curing mild colds, making small lights, and throwing those lights with about as much force as one would expect out of a forcefully thrown foam ball. While "possessed", she has the capabilities of a level capped White Mage, able to heal significant bodily damage, resurrect the recently deceased, impart a number of beneficial effects, and fight with "Holy Magic". Like a level capped White Mage, she also has access to subclasses, giving her some of the abilities of other classes in that game, which are largely typical of what you'd find in an RPG. For example, there's the Black Mage, who can produce a broader variety of offensive magical effects, the Artificer, who can create magical items, and the Time Mage, who can freeze targets in place temporarily and summon Meteors. Her access to these abilities are comparably limited, but can be used in conjunction.

Personality: Lesua's Gift introduced a sort of split personality, giving her different levels of power depending on her personality.

Her original personality is an introverted otaku and a bit of a shut-in. She is largely antisocial, though gets along with others when it comes to video games. She is particularly fond of RPGs and competitive fighting games, and has won a couple of tournaments in the past. She resents the other personality, for reasons not hard to imagine. Fairly competitive and snarky overall.

Her additional personality, sometimes referred to as a power trip or "second" personality, is characterized by an acute god complex, with comical levels of arrogance and an overbearing demeanor. Some might even call her completely insane. Her followers or otherwise those that give her "the respect she deserves" are treated cordially and charitably, while those that "oppose" her "deserve" to be "smited".

History: The introduction of her Gift immediately divorced her of her previous life, and she really had no choice but to leave her home, in the wake of the destruction she caused. It was nationwide news even. The fact that it happened at school really didn't help. She found it mortifying.

With funds from her parents, she went "into hiding". She doesn't go out much, but she did overhear a certain conversation at her local Gamestop of all places. She had never heard of Derika before, but from what she heard, it was perfect for her predicament. As such, she tried to get some answers out of them. When they got tight-lipped about it, she challenged them to a certain fighting game and, naturally, won. When they still refused, she didn't back down. One thing led to another, and Lesua went on a power trip. To abbreviate, she got her answer, and with some difficulty, made her way to Brinkhaven, where she is currently staying in a quiet apartment on the edge of town.

Of course, with her Gift affecting her the way it does, things wouldn't stay peaceful. Her second personality started a cult in worship of herself, even acquiring a church building to operate out of. To skip to the part that matters, some criminals took advantage of it. Since she protects her followers and isn't above retaliation, it made a good place for several to escape repercussion from other criminals, and where there are fake believers, there are real ones. When criminals start going to her church, it wasn't hard for some of them to make their families believe they've shaped up their acts. Since Lesua demands order in her "church", it can give off the impression of an actual church at times, and things spiraled out of control from there. Unfortunately, it's basically just an organized crime ring, and so, for the safety of the unaware and because of Lesua's stubbornness, (Both because her second personality would not denounce the criminals in her church and because her original personality insisted on such a sanction) Lesua was legally disallowed from referring to her church as a place of religious worship. It doesn't actually stop her, but she's not allowed to stop anyone who says otherwise now. From start to finish, her original personality regards it as a nightmare, and so do all of her neighbors and everyone who knows her. She hates it more than anything in the world, begrudgingly tolerating it only because it's made a target out of herself, and the criminals therein provide some modicum of protection while she doesn't have access to her powers.

She's also made some good friends from the ordeal, something she's sorely missed since being forced to uproot her life.

Other: Her second personality is fond of crosses and other such christian aesthetics. For a multitude of reasons, her original personality (and several others...) doesn't think they're appropriate, and will endeavor to remove them only for her second personality to materialize new ones.

Personality: Outgoing with a bit of a penchant for being melodramatic. He can be brash and reckless at times, and never backs down from a challenge. While he enjoys a good dust up, he's never seriously hurt anyone, let alone killed. Despite his outward confidence, he is struggling to find his place in the world, and feels he lacks a sense of purpose in life.

History: The son of Greek immigrants to the US, Lysander grew up in a rural area on a farm. He had no complaints about his family, but found farm life tedious and uninteresting, always wanting to see more of the world and to do something worthwhile, though even he would admit he had little idea of what that could be. After he became an adult, he left home and began wandering the country. At first he enjoyed seeing new places and meeting new people, but he eventually started to become despondent that even after all his traveling, he hadn't found a purpose in life.

When he first began to awaken to his gift, Lysander thought his prayers had been answered, that it was a sign that he should become a hero. Unfortunately for him, through a combination of bad luck and not really knowing what he was doing, many of his attempts at "heroing" fell flat, or just didn't work out. Feeling that sometimes he was just making things worse, Lysander decided to journey to Derika, knowing about its large gifted population, and figuring he might be able to learn something there.

Personality: Elias is smart, or to some people he is, to the many others', he's a slacker, a lazy good-for-one-use-only slacker. He just doesn't apply himself, everything to him is easy so why should he go out and make things difficult, at what point would he go save a girl when he could visualize saving a girl? Since everything in the world seems to have obvious answers, he's constantly in an apathetic state and never really needs or wants to do anything. His lifestyle only becomes harder when he's constantly in paranoia and fear, not to the point of him hiding underground but to where communicating respectfully and wholeheartedly is a difficult feat to muster.

One last thing that people who engage with Elias should know, when he's motivated and interested enough in a topic or subject, he'll actually do something other than sit around. And given the time and motivation, Elias will finish whatever he started.

History: A rather simple life, Elias grew up in a small household with his father, mother, sister and brother and all of them got along fairly well until he and his siblings developed their gifts, all different and rather complex. There wasn't much to Elias' life besides containing himself and making sure he doesn't become some military strategist by accident. Once adulthood reached he and his siblings, they said their farewells and went on their separate paths, Elias kept in touch with them until he just stopped getting replies and answers. Once Elias heard of ETG he began to become paranoid, most of what Elias heard of ETG was that they were cleaning the streets and containing gifted criminals but once word of innocent never-hurt-a-fly type of people began to disappear, Elias realized it was time for him to leave his cake and not eat it.

And so, Elias is traveling to Derika to not only escape the things that worry him but also to start over and get a fresh start, it's not like he needed one though.

If I’m gone for a good section and I’m missing like 10 posts that is very relevant to the story and my character, then you don’t have to ask for my permission.

There wasn't much to Elias' life besides containing himself and making sure he doesn't become some military strategist by accident. Once adulthood reached he and his siblings, they said their farewells and went on their separate paths, Elias kept in touch with them until he just stopped getting replies and answers. Once Elias heard of ETG he began to become paranoid, most of what Elias heard of ETG was that they were cleaning the streets and containing gifted criminals but once word of innocent never-hurt-a-fly type of people began to disappear, Elias realized it was time for him to leave his cake and not eat it.

And so, Elias is traveling to Derika to not only escape the things that worry him but also to start over and get a fresh start, it's not like he needed one though.

While his grades were a steady mediocre his hands learned how to slide a card under his sleeve, make them disappear and reappear behind someone's ear. It was a dream come true; something to make a crack in concrete for someone to trip on and many other things. When she manifested her Gift at age 8, even that was taken from her. Abbey’s academic ability suddenly spiked, and she was pulled out of school to be homeschooled by her father.

Where Mr. Lyon’s own research had stagnated, he recognized the savant-level talent Abbey held in biotech. Under her father’s specialized tutelage, Abbey absorbed information rapidly and before long surpassed her own father. While she had difficulty conveying her research to her father, with time and patience he was able to understand what she developed. Soon enough, he was able to patent a piece of cutting-edge medical technology under his own name, achieving the fame and renown he always hungered for, even if it was undeserved. Before long, the Lyon’s family was catapulted into the ranks of the socialite elite.

In order to fit in with her new peers, Mrs. Lyon felt she had to spend fortunes on party after party, quickly squandering their newfound fortunes. At the same time, Abbey’s father hungered for more awards and ever-greater renown. Both parents pushed their daughter to produce innovations faster and more effectively than ever. Abbey was soon reduced to nothing more than a golden goose that could only hope for affection proportional to the money her next invention would produce.

Stressed and depressed, Abbey’s works contained ever worsening mistakes that spiraled her family further and further into debt. The final nail in coffin was a simple mistake brought about by a corporate spy. Having once overheard a family friend mention Derika was full of people like her, she grabbed a bunch of her mother’s jewelry and fled with only her faithful doggo as company.

History: Growing up in San Francisco, California, Amari was an honor-roll student and an exceptional basketball athlete playing shooting guard for his high school team. Being a positive influence in his neighborhood, and showing signs of a promising, successful future, things ultimately went upside down for young Amari. Discovering and being aware of his mutated ability, he would stray away from abusing his "gifts" for selfish desires but use his gifted abilities to help out his community, trying to prevent gang violence, caring for environmental equality, and even taking care of citizens. Although Amari did positive things for his community, he would still face discrimination by being gifted and having supernatural abilities, and it would even result in the death of his younger brother Josiah. Suffering a great deal of loss, Amari finally decided that it was best for him to go to the only place that would make him forget about his home, make him forget about the suffer and pain he has been through by just being a "mutant", and make him forget about the loss of a loved one he truly cared for, and go to a place that will accept him. Derika, the Land of the Gifted.

Other: Amari is a talented hand-to-hand combatant, and competes in two combative sports, freestyle wrestling and Kudo Daido Juku (a hybrid mixed Japanese martial art sport comprising full-contact punches, kicks, throwings, and submission techniques on the ground.) But he is very inexperienced and does require more training to be at the best of his combat ability.

Gift Weaknesses and Limits: Amari's flames can be extinguished by sand, fire-fighting foam, and water (but if his flames are at such an intensity it may immediately vaporize the materials on physical contact.) Even if Amari is hit with small amounts of water up to 4-5 gallons Amari can turn into steam with small effort. More water than that will extinguish his flamed form to its normal state, and he would have to wait before re-ignition.

Name: Valen Agzen

Gift Summary: Invulnerability

Appearance: Despite his age, his Gift keeps him looking young, having slowed his apparent aging gradually but exponentially. He has dark hair, brown eyes, and a fairly plain wardrobe consisting of mostly dull colors. Rather tall.

Personality: Generally mild-mannered, Valen is outgoing and approachable. His methodical nature makes him highly reliable, though it also makes him easy to mess with. While chiefly motivated by self-interest, it's not for lack of conscience.

History: Originally intending to join the military, Valen was invited to and subsequently hired by the ETG through the power of nepotism. From there he went on to serve as a generic mook, apprehending "rogue" Gifted until his own Gift was awakened. It was initially valued highly, and he was assigned to more demanding targets. This backfired as he failed time and again to meet the lofty expectations his Gift commanded. In the end, he was delegated to internal affairs where he could be put to use doing any dangerous job the ETG needed done: Personal trainer who couldn't be hurt by their trainee, Gifted handler who couldn't be hurt by prisoners and R&D's test dummy who couldn't die no matter how unstable the weapon. Over the years, Valen came to occupy a position as right-hand man to Aaron, head of the R&D department and the friend who got him the job in the first place. Eventually Aaron informed him that he intended to betray the ETG, which included blowing the entire facility to kingdom come and escaping with all the captured Gifted around to Derika, through a contact of his. As far as Valen could tell, the heel-face turn was as a result of Aaron finishing one of his ridiculous experiments and not needing ETG resources any longer. Seeing as how Valen's job tended towards unpleasant and how he was financially well-off, he went along with it, and for doing so, attained amnesty as part of Aaron's conniving negotiations beforehand. Ultimately, Valen ended up living in Brinkhaven, primarily working for Aaron on his various pet projects.

Weapons: Lacking innate offenses, Valen relies on handguns and grenades primarily. Aaron insists on putting lasers on everything, which has caused Valen to prefer traditional weapons even if less practical. Has also received extensive hand-to-hand combat training because of his past jobs.

Kicking off with all the dread and imposing presence you would expect from an unkillable enemy, this song carries the serious tone Valen does as a combatant. The booming trumpets and cymbals embody his militaristic means of combat. Even throughout all that however, the song maintains the nonchalance of his mild disposition. Once you get used to it, the trumpets and cymbals kind of lose the feeling of being so scary, appropriately matching how most regard him, both in-universe and out.

Gift Summary: The Magical Power of Friendship Can learn to cast the Gifts of others (as witnessed, ignoring finer mechanics) as "spells", though must perform the necessary rituals to do so, (as if they were spells) and doesn't keep them for too long.

Appearance: Black hair, blue eyes, average height, and an excessively sophisticated wardrobe. Deeply concerned with his appearance, though tries to hide it in front of others.

Personality: A little dense, though critically so. Gregarious, with flirtatious and overall intrusive tendencies. Overall, he's an intensely social person, and can accordingly come off to some as a creep. Although amicable in conduct, he often fails to take a hint. Tries to portray himself with an air of sprezzatura and suaveness, though his success varies. Cares far too much about how others think of him.

History: Verik is among the Gifted who wanted to turn their Gift into a career but wasn't able to find an easy way to do so and ultimately had to settle for jobs where his Gift was not pertinent. He looked up to the ETG, but because he had no Gifted friends that stuck around as he got to a working age, he had basically nothing to demonstrate for them. He could claim to be Gifted and then prove it later, but that would be completely unprofessional. That isn't just an excuse to procrastinate either, but something his personality would not allow. Sick of the jobs of his past and present, when he caught wind of Derika some years later, he immediately decided to head there. The largest Gifted population in the world and a power like his go hand in hand, and perhaps he could finally use it for the ends he's desired.

Strepitoso Fight
Although the guitars of his intrusive personality and the talkative synth might give the wrong impression, Verik is quick to smooth things over with the jazzy feel of the piano and saxophone, capturing well how he would have everyone see him as. The song goes on to portray his apparent optimism with bright tones, but the guitars contradict it. The woodwinds come in, but they end in a melancholy feel as well. The guitar goes on as if losing its composure, and the song loops over and it's as if nothing ever happened. As the same thing happens again, the guitars cry out, as if fed up with all of it; everything Verik wants and is trying to be. But of course, immediately afterwards, it goes back to the sounds of a smiling flirt with no respect for personal space.

Gift Summary: Energy Slime

Appearance: She is normally human in form and stands about 5' tall appearing to be under 90lbs. Her slime has a matte finish to it and is generally the typical semi-transparent slime green, with variations in shade and opacity for mood, situation, and diet. She keeps her head and neck opaque for the benefit of those around her, as some find it rather unnerving to talk to a transparent face. Her facial features can change from day to day but she stays pretty recognizable. She wears clothing in public, but any time her ability to change shape becomes a priority she generally doesn’t. Additionally she smells faintly of petrichor.

Personality: More extrovert than introvert, kinda snarky

History: Vix has lived in Derika since birth; which is probably for the best as its nigh impossible for her to hide her gift. Her parents are currently stateside helping new gifted get to derika.

Gift Summary: *Man of Bones*: Miyarkus is completely a skeleton; He can grab a limb or part of his body to use as a weapon or manipulate body limitations like holding his skull up high to get a better view if he is too short or he could hold the end of his left arm with his right arm to extend his reach, to name a few examples. He can also control his bones to fly swiftly as a weak projectile. Whenever his bones break, it takes roughly a whole day (twenty four hours) for them to regenerate.

This is a rather crazy Gift he acquired, and almost conveniently having this gift saved him. He could easily not have found out about this Gift even until the day he dies, except when you were under his specific circumstances.

Appearance: Miyarkus is a crimson-cloaked skeletal being that is around 175cm. The only thing that his cloak doesn't cover is his skull head, as his cloak covers him functionally similar to a large poncho.

Personality: He is a positive person of sorts, extrovert and outgoing. Cheerful enough that it can be considered contagious if you let him. He would gladly make acquaintances as frequently as possible. Despite his stereotypical villain-like appearance, he wants to help people in need. Doesn't want to feel left out in any group. If alone, he gets rather deep in thought, nearly melancholic even.

History: Raised with a father who could harness dark Elemental magic using his Gift and his mother with the Gift to cure and rejuvenate people, Miyarkus is his father's attempt at performing secretive dark arts. Using his son as a vessel at a very young age for demonic possession (or so he believes he can) , Miyarkus was smited with powerful energies. Skin ripped off of him and magic instead envelops him like flesh. The father obviously failed, almost killing Miyarkus, but the mother desperately tried to keep her son alive through pure, magical energy. Because of this, Miyarkus' father left him and his mother in shame, knowing he will never be forgiven for nearly killing their son and practicing his Gift to begin with. The two lived a sad hidden life kept alive by Miyarkus' mother's friend who cared deeply for the broken family. They lived like this until they were forced to live to Derika by the people who disapprove of people with a Gift. Miyarkus and his mother, after arriving, tried to make this home as comfortable as possible. Miyarkus' mother then left one day saying she wants to help other Gifted to arrive at Derika and to also find his father return, saying it won't take long. She left with an Artifact in hand and left Miyarkus the Moment Star, a memento of her and to keep his hopes up once she returns. It has been two months since.

Currently, he scours Derika and has been wondering recently if he should take leave for a while to find his parents. He lives in his own cozy private apartment, also planning to move to a bigger place. He wishes for a world with a peaceful Gifted community such as Derika. For now, he needs to fight for it.

Equipment: Miyarkus brings a tall scythe, keeping it hidden under the back of his cloak. While it is thematically correct for him, scythes aren't the best and is arguably the least conventional of weapons, if you see it only for battling. He's gonna find out sooner or later...
