Centaurus Military Academy

We are not located in earth. You can feel free to make a human, but we are located on an alien planet. The humans were one of the races that have been taken over by the Krayers (an evil planet dead set on taking over the universe.) Our academy is a home for volunteers and refugees whose planets have been taken or destroyed. We are in the midst of training our students to defend planets against the Krayers. They can be exchange, but they had to have begun school with the others. It's important for all the students to be at the same performance level, so while you can enter late, your character should have been at the school for as long as everyone else. You can have I believe up to 3 characters. That is stated in the overview. You can create your character from scratch. You can make the race, the backstory, the world your character lived on, if they had a democracy or if they had kings and queens, and if it is still a living planet.

We have certain departments where they can be part of: pilot, foot soldier, tech specialist, medic, informant. You can even make a teacher if you want to. Now what exactly do you mean by home and neutral system?
thanks for the info

I wonder if it is acceptable to have an exchange student who is circa on same level of expertise as other player characters, so if the others are in year 2 or 3 of academy I could fit in right away and not have to start on year 1, this was basically the main reason to ask if exchange student is a possible option.

I wondered if the homeworlds could be neutral/passive in regards to Krayers, not being at war with them for a reason.

Also: would telepathic and similar mental powers be acceptable?

edit:

cocoa are you the GM?

oh side note i am going to wait for moon most likely before i post

well the krayer are kind of a take over everything kind of alien so you are either with them or against them because they will come and take you over

also thus far n there have been no years in the academy its more like a college and we all would be first year anyways

gm is roseyshark

I considered to create a home system which is currently considering to either side with the Krayers (allow diplomatic/peaceful annexation) or against them (engage in full scale war as ally of others)

Right now we are all year 1. There are some who have had previous militia experience before the academy, but once they entered they started back at year 1. If we were year 2 at the time or year 3 that would be absolutely reasonable to jump up to that level.

The home world and what it is like is solely up to you, as long as you created the race yourself. For instance I created the Colonel for the academy and made his race myself. I dictated what it was like and what happened to it, so if you wanted to create one of his race you would have to follow the how I depicted the world. If you create your own it is all up to you.

One thing is that Krayers are trying to take everyone over. You can be neutral, but they will one day attack your planet. They aren't reasonable beings who understand neutrality and peace treaties. They want to rule the universe and we just want it to stop.

All sorts of powers are acceptable as long as they are not over powered. For instance it might be a little OP if you have someone who can read minds all the time, so if someone wanted to make a Krayer informant your character would discover them instantly.

Is this information helpful at all for you?

You can be a Krayer ally if you want to. You can even make a Krayer character if you want to. I know Rosyshark would love to roleplay her Krayer leader character she made.

Rosyshark and I are both the creators of this forum or GM as you put it

Yes, the replies of all of you are helpful :)

No I don't plan to make a Krayer character, but I do think my idea of a government on the verge (sp?) of deciding to either be annexed by them or side against them would offer the NPC Krayer leader to interact more with/through a semi-neutral party.

That is, if a Krayer understands the need to be nice and patient with someone who may without a fight join them freely while they explain their perspective on things.I do have a basic idea on how to make my character(s), I plan to make 2 or maybe even all possible 3 characters, all of the same species, and while my main character wouldn't be a 'big shot' he would be the third son of an influential family of the system (maybe the ruler's family, still didn't decide on details of the culture/government)

This all sounds actually incredibly interesting. We have discussed that there are planets who decided to side with the Krayers, but knowing them would probably one day back stab their allies and destroy them (Their leader is.... not completely in his right mind. He's a little eccentric if you catch my drift.) This is fairly interesting. I'll need to consult with Rosyshark real quick to see how she feels about it. So please feel free to continue with your character sheets and decisions while I try to get in contact with her (She'll be out of the house all day today) This will make for a very cool plot on the Krayer side since we haven't been able to include them yet.

When I still had a team of RP-ers living in my area I was often the GM so I consider my own GM / story building abilities to be better than actual player ones, I do believe giving the GM the possibility to interact with existing NPC-s toward the player characters is important, but I choose to implement this factor into my idea of a new faction/culture instead of outright and simply create a Krayer or be an agent of theirs.

I hope Rosyshark will like the idea. After my team scattered and I turned to online forums for my RP needs I noticed that building a setting in cooperation with the GM(s) is often a very rewarding feeling for all parties involved.

I begin to turn my basic sketch into a proper background and character sheet soon. Will probably undergo multiple edits until I'm satisfied with it.

Okay that sounds great! I'll tag you when I get an answer!

@Jorian Drake

Hey you've got the go ahead! She loved it! Just finish it up and post it to character sign up! We're really excited to see what you've got!

I think I slightly overdid the history background, still just barely got to the point to actually making the culture & character section, but I have to sleep or my day will be terrible O.o

in any case, first impressions are welcome, hope no one is bothered by the length of it

my only impressions is it might be to much or rather is in my opinion

i mean look at all the other races they were simple and concerned relevant time periods

in my mind you can cut the culture and the history and leave the basic race description

hmm

thanks for opinion, also for the spoiler help, I think it is better now, plus who really is interested can dig into the details under the spoilers further

yeah it is opinion up to you the spoilers do make it better
To be honest, a detailed background is both for the others who like these, and also for myself, so I won't forget things later and can check back myself.

I find this useful especially if one creates a system/race/culture and the RP continues for long. I understand it does however annoy some people if it turns into a wall of text so I like to organize and make it easier to read too, am grateful to know spoiler tagging works on this forum too.

In any case, good night, 03:18 here atm :)
