Plot:

In the neutral country of the Kirganfel kingdom, there is an academy (or college) for nobles where they learn everything from diplomacy to blade combat, marksmanship and magical arts. The special thing is that this year, a few commoners were allowed to join after being given scholarships. Not only is the academy a place where nobles get to know each other after coming of age, but also a place where nobles who are still not engaged can find future partners or concubines. The academy also has a couple rules that all nobles must abide by, such as the nobles of rivalling or enemy countries cannot shed blood within the academy or the city in which the academy is located. Nobles also cannot abuse their rank when on academy grounds and rank doesnt matter among fellow students, thus preventing that lower nobles have to stay silent if bullied by high nobles.

Though bullying is relatively rare, there is still some prejudice towards demi-humans and species perceived as barbaric. Most nobles at the academy are pressured by their families to find future partners and future allies. Nonetheless, there are still dangers, especially this year. There are reports of certain fiends who will attempt to infiltrate the academy as well as those who wish to see harm to certain noble families or sow war between countries or estates.

Playable species: Most nobility in this world is either human or elven or mixed elf-human. As commoners you can additionally play gnomes, ogres (as in like humans but horned), halfling (between size of gnomes and humans, sort of like hobbits but with normal sized feet) or demi-human (cat, dog/wolf or fox, appear human but with animal ears and tail and maybe even fangs).

Setting:

Time focus is a somewhat modern arcanepunk era. Trains are a thing. Mana crystal powered motor vehicles is a thing. If the players wish, it can include mana powered electronics.

Continent: Vaia - one of the three major continents of the world. It is home to around three dozen nations. Climate is warm to temperate. , Country: Kirganfel Kingdom - A neutral kingdom on a large peninsula in the northeast of Vaia. Weather is temperate.

Academy/college: The academy is known as the Royal College of Kirganfel and has been the academy of choice for nobles for generations. It has a large campus with a number of large dorms. The dorms range from a small dorm with rooms for two nobles each intended for lesser nobles to dorms with large apartments for royals and their servants. The campus also features a combat training ground, an arena, a magic training ground, a large school building, a dining hall, stables, workshops (for craftsmen/craftswomen), a guards quarters, teacher accomodations etc.

Uniforms: During class hours, school trips and on special school events, the basic uniform is mandatory. The basic uniform consists of school colors of purple, black and white. This would consist of a purple tie/scarf with a black or white dress shirt/blouse and black bottoms (skirt or pants/trousers). The full uniform is voluntary and includes a hat and jacket. Customizations of uniforms are allowed (such as frilly trims, shortened/lengthened skirts, turtleneck undershirts, chokers).

Subjects: Examples: Blade combat, international diplomacy, social economics, arcane combat, enchanting, botany, alchemy etc.

Magic types available: Fire, earth, air/lightning, water/ice, healing/light, dark/shadow, combat enhancement, illusion, taming, summoning. Forbidden/taboo magics: Necromancy, blood magic, abyssal magic

City in which academy is located: Kirgan, the capital of the Kirganfel Kingdom. It is a fairly large city with a couple hundred thousand inhabitants. Due to the neutral status of the country, the city is quite prosperous. It features anything from middle class neighborhoods to upscale shopping streets. It is a very walkable city, but has buses, subways and trains for longer distance travel.

Asaria Velana Uybeshi Karinazo Akarios / Uyi Karina of Hinunta

Two weeks ago in Varujakki (formerly Akarios), the capital of the Akarian Federation situated...

"As planned, I will go on a journey to find a companion. I will leave the nation to the counsel and the assemblies." Asaria said.

The minister of internal affairs, Baron Ruric Avolatsi, interjected: "You don't need to go on this journey. There are plenty of possible candidates within the federation." "I need at least someone to father my future heir and I doubt I will find someone with the right criteria in the federation. Additionally, I need to be able to relax and get out into the world after having to deal with civil war, the betrayal of family and kin, the restructuring of the nation and solidifying my authority as the mother of the nation. See it as my time off. I am sure I can count on the counsel and the assemblies. Actually, I am sure they will do the right thing. Good citizens get rewarded. Bad citizens... well I am sure you can expect what would happen." Asaria responded. The minister gulped and he had a shiver down his spine. Honestly, she could find someone who could father her child in the federation, however she didn't want somebody who'd be a total suckup, was deathly afraid of her or deified her. Plus she needed an excuse to just go on a sort of vacation/holiday.

"Shouldn't you at least take bodyguards with you and diplomatic personnel?" The minister asked. Asaria giggled and replied: "What for? If I need a fighter, I can just summon a demon or a horror. If I need a butler, then there are sentient minions I can disguise as humans. Don't worry about my well being. All I need is for you to do your job right and make sure that no one can get away with embezzling public funds or any form of corruption. If you can do that, I wont have to use other methods to figure out what my children have been doing and heads wont have to roll. The mother of a nation appreciates good children. Plus if you do a good job, I will treat you to a special day, then we can get ice cream and I can cook a wonderful dinner. Or better yet, I can throw a party for the counsel if they do a good job."

The minister was sort of in an emotional rollercoaster because both threats and niceties came out of Asaria's mouth. The baron knew what she was capable of and knew how she was. He remembered when she was younger and different and a lot more pleasant, yet a lot more naive. He remembered his shock when he saw the princess he knew as a sweet angel with dark blonde hair and green eye had turned into a demon like queen with silver hair and red eyes covered in arcane tattoos. However she also granted the nation great freedoms and autonomy, while remaining it's watchful figurehead and lead protector.

"Anyways, I am off. You know what to do." Asaria said as she grabbed her bag and disappeared into a shadow.

Asaria soon reappeared from a shadow outside the city limits. "Time to relax and go on an adventure." Asaria said as she began to walk while trying to not raise any suspicion.

A week ago, in a far away nation...

Asaria sat in a café. Despite her appearance, the people didn't know who she was or suspect that she is an abyssal magic user or a sorceress. Most assumed she was from some far away barbarian tribe and just told her to not start any fights. Though in the last nation, someone recognized her and she had to duck out. She decided to avoid showing her face in larger cities to not cause a panic. Here in a small city of around 20,000 she only looked like an exotic foreigner.

"How do you like your roast, good lady?" The female barista asked Asaria as she sipped the a black coffee. Asaria replied: "It's not bad. Too bad you didn't have my preferred tea." "Honestly, that kind of tea is pretty hard to get as it is only found in a place called the Akarios Empire, though the merchants say there is no such place anymore." The barista replied. Asaria answered: "No problem. The nation still exists but after the civil war it was renamed the Akarian federation. I hear their queen is nice."

The news came on a TV just in that moment. It seemed like urgent news. "A nationwide warning has been issued. A highly dangerous fiend has been sighted near the nation borders. The fiend is a forbidden arts user." The news speaker said.

Asaria raised an eyebrow and the customers in the café broke out into concerned chatter. "A forbidden arts user that is highly dangerous? I thought forbidden arts users were usually just simple mages who decided to sin." One customer said. Another then said: "Why so much fuss over a forbidden arts user? All they can do is raise the dead."

The news speaker continued: "This warning has to be taken seriously. We just got word that said person is an abyssal magic user." Asaria knew they meant her. Most forbidden arts users were only necromancers or blood magic users and not that dangerous, yet still severely persecuted as for most of the world religions, the forbidden arts were a cardinal sin. Asaria began to drink a little bit faster as she may have to make her way out soon.

"Abyssal magic user? Are you sure?" The news speaker asked someone off camera. "Does abyssal magic seriously exist? I thought it was just a thing of legends." Turning back to the camera the news speaker continued: "The ministry of the arcane state to immediately take shelter and not to engage the forbidden arts user. Report them and the special response squads will take care of them." "Special response squads? What are they going to do?" Asaria said quietly. The barista noticed what Asaria said and looked a bit confused. "Foreigner, the special response squads deal with special threats. I've seen them take down a rogue wizard." She said. Asaria then replied: "I see."

"The forbidden arts user has been identified as... wait really? This must be some kind of prank. What? You are serious. Alright, I will go along with it. The forbidden arts user has been identified as Asaria Akarios, Queen of the Akarian Federation?" The news speaker said, still unsure if this was some prank his station was pulling on him. Then Asaria's face flashed on the monitor.

The barista dropped whatever she held in her hands and turned to Asaria. It seems all eyes had turned to Asaria. "What? Do I have something on my face else than the tattoos?" Asaria said jokingly. "Don't worry. I won't harm you. If I was as evil as people say, then you'd be dead already." A couple of customers frantically got up and ran out of the café while others just froze in shock.

Asaria then complimented the barista and said: "The coffee and cake were good. I am sorry for the inconvenience I may have caused you." The barista peed herself. "Noo. Don't be like that. Why would I become violent if I just calmly ate cake and had coffee and we were talking normally just a minute ago?" Asaria reached into her coinpurse. "You know what? As an apology for the inconvenience, a thank you for the good cake and service and as an investment into the future of this establishment I give you this as payment." Asaria put a solid gold coin on the counter. In the federation, a gold coin would be enough to makeover a café of this size. She didn't know what it may be worth in this country but she hoped it would be plenty. Asaria bowed and said: "Farewell." before disappearing into a shadow again.

Once Asaria was gone, the barista sacked to the ground and broke out into tears.

Asaria reemerged in an alley not far from the café. "Maybe I should do something about my appearance so that I am not recognized." She then noticed a poster on a wall. It was an ad for scholarship to attend the Kirganfel Royal College with scholarships going out to commoners who show special promise or to the top ten applicants. It gave Asaria an idea. It was better for her to seek a noble or a very gifted commoner as a companion, but she felt she may be a bit old to be a student even for a college and that she may only need tutoring in using blades. "I could try becoming a teacher there. Might be hard, but would be worth the try. But I need to change my appearance."

Three days ago, Kirganfel Royal College, headmaster's office...

Asaria sat in her new disguise in a somewhat grand chair in the headmaster's office. Her hair was light brown and her eyes yellowish. She made her tattoos invisible. Asaria just needed to make sure not to overexert herself, otherwise her tattoos would reappear.

The headmaster skeptically went over Asaria's resumé. "Miss Uyi Karina of Hinunta? Did I pronounce that right?" He asked. Asaria/Uyi replied: "Yessir." "While we don't have any openings for hand to hand combat instructors and staff combat may not find enough participants for it's own class, demonology and defense against forbidden arts seem interesting and unusual. Especially after the happenings in neighboring countries, including an apocalypse class sorceress just casually sitting in a café eating cake and just simply disappearing, there will be need for a defense against the forbidden arts and a demonology class. Since you are a baroness of Hinunta, I assume you are familiar with the Akarian queen?" The headmaster asked.

"Well, I had encountered her before. I fled the Akarios Empire because of the civil war and it may be unwise to go back to a nation that is ruled by a queen who can summon eldritch horrors or a demon champion." Asaria/Uyi lied.

"I must say, you have some familiarity with her. Could you be related in some way?" The headmaster questioned. Asaria let out a nervous laugh. "Me? Maybe a very distant relative, but I am not aware of any relation to her." "Okay. Just wondering." He replied.

"Well, you are lucky. After testing your knowledge and abilities, you have proven that you will a worthy teacher at this institution. We can offer you an off campus accomodation if you haven't found anything yet." The headmaster said holding out his hand for a handshake. Uyi got up and shook his hand. "Even if you have something on campus that I just need to tidy up. Can be even a shack that I can use. A garden would be nice to have." She said.

The headmaster gave it though and replied: "Well we have an abandoned maisonette. It is kind of overgrown but it has a large area for a garden." "I'll take it." Uyi replied. The headmaster raised his eyebrow and said: "Are you sure?" "Of course. Don't worry about it." Uyi said.

With that Uyi's (Asaria's) position at the academy was secured.

First day of the new school year at the academy...

Uyi was sleeping on the floor on a fur roll bed in the maisonette. The maisonette had been abandoned but doors and windows were still intact. It seemed to been only abandoned for maybe ten or twenty years. She went out back to wash up and then put on a knee-length black button down dress with a puple necktie and leggings, flat soled shoes and a simple black velvet choker. She then put on a blue cloak with black trims, grabbed her bag and headed out to the college main building on the other side of the campus.

She went to the teachers lounge to meet up with the other staff. "So this is the newbie? Pah. Who needs demonology anyways? It's not like demons have been seen in over a thousand years." A male teacher said. Uyi approached him and said in a timid, innocent voice: "I saw one a couple months ago. An abyssal magic user from my country summoned it. I... I just want for my students to know how to deal with demons." "Like that will ever happen." The male teacher countered. Uyi putting on an act then replied: "I don't want to fight. I d...don't know what I did to anger you." "You should be ashamed! You are going to make her cry." A female teacher said then consoling Uyi. The male teacher bit his lip.

Uyi bowed to her new colleague and said: "I... I hope for good cooperation and relations. Please be kind to me." She then left the lounge and went out to the courtyard to sit under a tree and wait for the bell to ring.

Light Don Quixote
Mention(s): Uyi Karina of Hinunta

Five days ago, Quixote Kingdom...

Outside the main gate stood three royal guards, Light and his parents. "Look at my baby boy all grown up." Light's mother said as her voice broke and tears ran down her face. "I won't be gone for long and I'll visit whenever i can." Light said as he and his mother hugged as if they would never see each other again. "Light, you are going to a place that we have no control or authority over so don't go make trouble you can't fix. Take good care of yourself and don't make a mockery of the Don Quixote name." His father pleaded. "I'll do my best!" Light said as he smiled. "I already had all your belongings transported to the train station except for this.' His father said as he turned his head towards the royal guards and nodded. 'You're going to need it." As he spoke one the three royal guards ran over to Light to give him his sword.

"Before you go, I requested these royal guards to be here not only to escort you but to test how well you can use that sword of yours and how well you can put that magic to use." His father said. Lights whole body seemed to lock up. "You knew..?" Light questioned. "Of course we knew the only reason you were able to study on your own accord is because i convinced your father that one day it would make you a better fighter." His mother replied. "Thank you mother.' Light bowed his head. 'But I've never used magic in a fight before." "Well there is a first for everything." His father interjected.

"YOUNG PRINCE!" Someone shouted from the mate gate as it opened, out came sprinting the elf from the blacksmith carrying a box. "There you are! I have the custom pieces you requested. I was going to leave the box at your door but one of the maids told me you were setting off today and i wanted to ensure that you received it." The elf explained. "May I?" The elf pointed at Light's sword, and Light then handed it over to the elf trading it for the box. The elf then unsheathed the sword and began removing its hilt and pommel, once done he simply just threw the pieces to the side. "Please open it and hand me all that is inside." Light complied, reaching in he grabbed a hilt shaped like a snowflake and a pommel with a lighting bolt charm, he then handed over the pieces. Once the elf replaced the pieces he put the sword back in its sheath and handed it back to Light. "Wow thank you." Light said. "No thank you young prince it was an honor." The elf said before bowing and returning to the main gate. "Let's get this started, the train conductor isn't going to wait on you forever." His father said.

Light turned to face the royal guards. "Let's do this. Who's first?" Light asked. "They all are first since you have the advantage of magic." His father answered. "Whaaat no fair." "Life isn't fair, BEGIN!" His father shouted. The first royal guard who began to rush Light was named James and his weapon was a two-handed great sword, dragging the blade across the ground preparing for an upward slash. Once he swung, Light jumped back barely dodging the blade, but James managed to slightly cut Light's face. The next royal guard to rush at Light was named Ryan and his weapon was a standard katana, keeping his sword sheathed and a tight grip on the handle. Once in range, Ryan released a quick slash, Light unsheathed his sword just enough to block the attack but the force knocked him back a few feet. "Damn can i at least take out my weapon?" Light said as he fully unsheathed his weapon. Ryan and James regrouped. "I need to separate them, where's the last one?" Light asked himself, he then raised his left hand suddenly a breeze of cold air brushed past them. Fifty pinecone-sized ice shards started to form above Light, dropping his hand as he aimed and shot a volley of ice shards towards the royal guards. James jumped to the side to dodge the attack but Ryan stayed occupied, deflecting the ice shards.

Light began to rush at James but stopped dead in his tracks as he heard rapid steps coming from behind him. Light turned and noticed the last royal guard Stephen whose weapon was also a standard katana, Stephen jumped raising his blade above his head before thrusting down. Light raised his blade and blocked the attack but as Stephen landed he released barrage of attacks and the sound of blades clashing began to echo as Light transitioned to defense. Their blades clashed for the final time and Light took advantage of the moment and jumped back, creating some space between him and Stephen. Once again a cold breeze began to brush over them. "This is taking too long." Light said as he took his left hand and waved it over his sword, coating it in a dense shell of ice. Light dashed at Stephen unleashing his own barrage of attacks. The weight of the blows started to overwhelm Stephen as he transitioned to defense, Light then raised his blade above his head and swung down as hard as he could, Stephen blocked the attack but force behind it knocked Stephen and his sword to the ground. Stephen tried to reach for his sword but Light kicked it away, light then moved his sword only an inch away from Stephen's neck. "I yield." Stephen said as he stood and walked over towards the king. Light turned to face the remaining two. "Who's next?" Light asked as he pointed his sword at them.

"ENOUGH.' His father shouted. 'I've seen all i needed to. You all better get going to the train station I bet the train conductor is starting to grow inpatient. Light you did well." Said his father before turning and walking towards the main gate. "Safe travels and we love you!" His mother shouted before turning and catching up to his father. "Seriously..? What a send off." Light murmured to himself. "Love you too and see you guys soon!" He shouted back.

Three days ago, Kirganfel Royal College, headmaster's office...

"Welcome Light to Kirganfel Royal College, I have a few things I would like to talk to you about but first tell can you tell me why you wanted to come here and what did you want to major in?" The headmaster asked. "Well I truly just wanted to get out of the kingdom, I've never been so far, it's a nice change of pace and I would like to major in blade and magic combat." Light answered. "Two majors? Don't you think you would be a little overwhelmed?" The headmaster questioned. "No sir." Light replied. The headmaster smiled. "That's the type of confidence we are looking for."

"Your parents have already set up your living situation, you will be staying in the boys dorm but you will not have a roommate. The room will come with everything you would need for basic living: a washer, dryer, refrigerator, etc. After around six months you will need to pay and replace the mana crystal that's powering your room. Once you leave my office, I have prepared a tour guide to show you around and take you to get measured and have your school uniform tailored to you, but other than that i would like to once again welcome you to Kirganfel Royal College." The headmaster explained.

First day of school...

*BEEEP BEEEP* Rang Lights alarm. "Ugh.. its so earlyy." Light groaned as he listened to the birds chirp outside his window. *BEEP BEE-* Light smashed his alarm. "Fuck, i hope they have replacements." Light said as he got out of bed and stretched. He stepped over to his dresser and pulled out: boxers, socks, a black wife beater, a white button up, black dress pants, a purple bowtie, and black suspenders. He then walked into the bathroom and turned on the hot water for a shower, while waiting on the water to get hot he brushed his teeth and got undressed. After the shower he dried off and got dressed. "Where is it?' Light asked himself. 'Oh it's in the bathroom." Before he walked into the bathroom, he noticed his cologne next to the smashed clock. "My dumbass." He murmured. He put on his shoes before grabbing and spraying himself with cologne as he walked out of his room he grabbed his sword before venturing off to find his first class.

"Man i should have paid more attention to the tour guide, I have no clue where I'm going." Light confessed to himself as he wandered into the courtyard he noticed a woman sitting under a tree, her outfit didn't match the school uniform, so he hoped she was a teacher. "Um.. excuse me ma'am, would you happen to know where I'm supposed to go I'm kinda lost, my name is Light Don Quixote."

Ch. 1 - The Reunion

"Okay, Mom! I'm going to school now!"
The 18-year-old would call out to her parents, who were the elven royal family of Wisteria. Her parents ran over to her before hugging the 18-year-old tightly. "Ooooh, I'm gonna miss you SO much!" Her father, Zephyr Wisteria, blubbered out, before he started crying. The two women sweatdropped. "Oh, sweetie..! Make sure to write us a letter after school, okay? I know that there will be dormitories there, so I made sure to make you have the best life there! So, get on out there and make us proud!" Her mother, Aurora Wisteria, said sweetly. Chihiro nodded before she walked out the door. This is it! My first step towards becoming a true holy saintess! She thought.

At the first day of school
Today is the first day of school, and Chihiro looked anxious. Crap! Crap! Crap! Crap! This is so new to me! What if I mess up, and everyone laughs at me?! Ooooh, I'm so nervous! I knew I shouldn't have done this!- She thought before bumping into a boy wearing a uniform. She fell butt-first onto the hard floor. "Owwie!" The 18-year-old would hiss at the pain. She looked up, only to see that it was someone familiar to her. Wait...! I-Is that...?! She thought to herself. "...Light? Is that you?"

Asaria Velana Uybeshi Karinazo Akarios

as Uyi Karina of Hinunta

Mentions: Light Don Quixote, Chihiro Sakurajima

As Uyi was waiting in the courtyard, she saw a number of students go past her into the school building. She wondered how well her disguise would hold up. Usually strong light magic users would at least notice some sort of aura around her, but at long as she didn't use too much abyssal magic it wouldn't be all too suspicious. She was virtually in territory where forbidden arts users were persecuted and were at worst killed on sight. But she didn't want to cause trouble, at least not for the time being.

A young man approached Uyi. He introduced himself as Light Don Quixote and explained he was kind of lost and needed help. "Pleased to meet you. I only know the basic overview of the campus as I am a new teacher. The name is As... er Uyi, my name is Uyi Karina of Hinunta. I am a baroness from a backwater of the Akarian Federation or at least I am trying to lay low to stay out of the way of the queen. I teach demonology and defense against the forbidden arts this year." Uyi replied with a cute smile. Since she couldn't use abyssal magic in front of others right now, she took her next best skill as something to claim proficiency of. "I am mostly a combat enhancement magic user and to fistfighting as well as staves. But practical knowledge matters in my field. A... anyways, I can show you to the main hall for the entrance ceremony once the first bell rings."

A demi-human girl ran into Light just now. As she looked up, she seemed to have recognized Light. "It looks as if you at least have someone you know here." Uyi said.

A ship docked at the nearby harbour, mostly because the triplets were unsure if there was any places for airships to land or dock in this kingdom. As they disembarked, Lucine checked the map. "We're about...5 minutes walk away I believe" she said, sliding the aether-powered personal device (smartphone) back into her pocket. "Sweet! Let's go!" Amber said excitedly, dragging her suitcase behind her. Lucine and Adra followed quickly, with their bags too.

Once they arrived they found a group that looked like new students. "Hey there! Are you three new here too?" Amber asked. While being the youngest she was definately the most outgoing of the group. "I'm Amber and these are my sisters Lucine and Adra, we're triplets!" she said. Lucine looked at the three they walked up to. Demi-Human, human and a fellow half-elf, interesting she thought. She could tell there was confidence in two of them, the human and half-elf, she had a feeling they would be interesting. Her hand was resting on the hilt of her rapier, not because she was trying to intimidate anyone or she expected trouble, it was just a natural, comfortable spot for her to place her hand.

“Thank you, Ms. Karina i would appreciate that.’ Light bowed his head. ‘Are you really from the Akarian Federation? Wow must be crazy knowing your queen is a monster but like in a cool way.” Light said. A young woman then bumped into him. “Damn shorty how hard is it to say excuse me.” Light said before he heard his name. “Umm do we know each other?” Light questioned as he looked her up and down. ‘I didn’t see her mouth move wait is that a tail?’ He thought to himself. “Damn i just wanted to get to class.” Light murmured as he seen more 3 more people approached. Light waved as Amber introduced herself and her siblings, he noticed how Lucine rest her hand and slowly gripped the handle of his. “Is everything alright?” Light asked.

Ch. 2 - Friend or Foe?

"....Eh?"
The 18-year-old would mutter, confused on what was happening. "L-Light..? D-Don't you recognize me..? It's me! Chi-Chi! Don't you remember me?" She would start to get teary-eyed. Just then, she noticed three new people joining in on the conversation. She would become very quiet and decided to sneak her way out of the conversation, feeling very heartbroken that Light didn't remember her.

Asaria Velana Uybeshi Karinazo Akarios

as Uyi Karina of Hinunta

Mentions: Light, Chihiro, Lucine, Adra, Amber

"A monster, huh? Expected of..." Asaria said in her more mature normal tone, almost breaking character. She was going to say that it was expected of followers of the dominant religions that all had some relation to one another. "I mean with such power, you can expect people to call the queen a monster. I have encountered her twice before. Her summoning demons got me into demonology to study the rarely seen demons." Uyi/Asaria said switching her back to the tone of the timid and benevolent Uyi.

It seemed the demi-human had her focus entirely on Light. It annoyed Asaria a little, but she wasn't entitled to attention. In her eyes, she wasn't like the filthy elites of other countries. But it wouldn't do her any good to show any of this animosity during her time at the academy.

Suddenly three girls came to the group. They introduced themselves as Amber, Lucine and Adra. No shit. Asaria thought, but as Uyi she said it is a much nicer way: "Triplets? So you say?" She had put on a smile to seem friendly and hide any suspicion that she had rude thoughts about triplets stating the obvious. They seemed to all look similar just with slight variance in build and hairstyle. Basically, their individual styles were the factor to tell them apart. "Well hello there! I am Uyi Karina of Hinunta, baroness of the Hinunta estate of the Akarian Federation. I have started here as a teacher in the subjects of demonology and defense against the forbidden arts. I am pleased to make your acquaintance."

Uyi/Asaria noticed the one named Lucine have her hand on the hilt of her rapier. "I... I mean no harm." Uyi said holding her hands up. "I only fight in self-defense."

Lucine looked between Light and Uyi and then at her hand resting on his rapier, she quickly moved it back to her side. "Sorry I'm used to resting my left hand on my hip and, well, it just happens that my rapier is on my left hip so it was just a convenient" she said, chucking softly. It was a logical explaination why her left hand was on her rapier, but it was also logical as to why the others who didn't know her were cautious. "Nice to meet you Uyi" Amber said smiling, extending a hand for the woman to shake. "I guess out titles should be know, we're the only daughters of a Duke and Dutchess, I guess you might call them" she added. "Forbidden arts huh? I have...encountered what you might call the forbidden arts before" Amber said. "We're here to learn, but Amber and Lucine are going to be doing so tutoring as well" Adra said, breaking her normally quiet demeanor.

Skadi Hatisdottir Xandria
While others at the college were just leaving their various residences at least one student had already been in the stables for the past hour, while much of the space was used for horses owned by the various nobles a small portion had been set aside for the few more exotic mounts. "Who's a good feather floof? Yes it's you!" Within a specially expanded stall a young woman was brushing at the plumage of a griffin as it leaned into her touch.

At the sound of a throat clearing behind them they both glanced at the stall door before the woman resumed brushing. "Hello Chiron." She said with a small smile in between humming as she worked. With a sigh the elf placed a hand on the snout of his wyvern that had snaked out from the next stall over. "Lady Skadi you shouldn't be out here in uniform, soiling it on your very first day would give a poor impression." Turning to face him Skadi placed a hand on her hip and posed revealing the still pristine blouse, skit and scarf under her feathered cloak. "Oh don't be a worrywart it's fine, Roc's too much of a gentlegrif to get me messy."

Remaining stone-faced even as he gently rubbed the scales under Balios' jaw Chiron sighed. "Rather than question his character may I suggest that spending so much time here makes it likely an unpleasant odour may follow you out. In any case classes are starting soon and tardiness would also reflect badly on you." Pulling out a pocket watch with a dragon design embossed on it she checked the time and huffed. "Very well, let's be off." Opening the stall door she paused as Roc let out a short keening sound. "Oh you silly-griffy!" She cooed while patting his forehead. "I'll be back after classes are done and take you out a bit then, be good until then."

Finally in the bustling courtyard Skadi strolled along glancing every which way at the people she passed by, while the uniforms added a fair bit of conformity most still had found enough ways to express their myriad origins in ways that caught her eye.

Unexpectedly Chiron who had been following behind her abruptly stepped in front, following his gaze Skadi watched a couple of people who had hands on their weapons quickly exchange apologies over a misunderstanding.
"Hehe what did I say about being a worrywart? We're here to learn about these people not jump at every errant twitch." Drawing closer on a whim her eyes brightened and she dropped the pretence of subtlety at the mention of 'forbidden arts' while Chiron by contrast frowned deeply. "Ooh how fascinating." She said inserting herself into the group. "Good morning! Apologies for eavesdropping but the topic was just so intriguing." Placing a hand on her chest she gave a short bow. "Skadi Hatisdottir Xandria of Wyrmheim at your service."

Ch. 3 - Heartbroken and Comfort

"Dangit..."
The 18-year-old would mutter softly, tears were streaming down her face. She would then look back at the group with a sad expression. She'd then look down sadly and walks away, before suddenly bumping into someone. She was about to ricochet back and hit the ground, when two big, muscular arms wrapped around her and hugged her. She looked up, only to see a familiar face. "Akihiko!" She exclaimed through her tears.

Ch. 1 - Comfort...

"Hm..."
The 19-year-old would look around the school, trying to find Chihiro, when he felt someone bump into his hard, muscular chest. He instantaneously looked down to see Chihiro about to fall. Immediately, he wrapped his large, muscular arms around her and brought her to his chest, hugging her. He then noticed her tears. His expression got dark. "Who did this to you? Why are you crying?" The 19-year-old male said coldly as his hug tightened.

: Uyi, Amber, Lucine, Adrea, Chihiro, Akihiko, Skadi

Light moved his hand away from his weapon as Lucine spoke.
“Oh ok.” Turning to look at the newest student to walk into the group. “I’m Light Don Quixote and the forbidden arts talk i will redirect to Ms. Karina.” As he spoke he returned the bow but before brought his head back up he took Skadi’s hand and kissed the back of it. “Pleasure to meet you.”

He then turned his to Chihiro as she walked away. ’Is she crying? What did i do?’ He thought to himself, he wanted to call out to her but she ended up bumping into someone who looked like she was familiar with.

“Well I would love to sit here and chitchat but we should probably get going to the entrance hall I would hate for us to be late on day one.” He said turning back go the group.

Asaria Velana Uybeshi Karinazo Akarios

as Uyi Karina of Hinunta

As Amber held out her hand to Uyi, Uyi accepted the offer and shook Amber's hand all while trying to mask her mana as good as she could do. Touching someone who could possibly be sensitive enough to feel the arcane aura of another person could make things complicated if someone felt Uyi's full mana capacity. "The daughters of a duke and dutchess, you say? It would be an honor to meet them. I... I have never really met anyone higher than a castellan. My parents wanted to marry me off to him, but then the civil war happened and the castellan fell in battle." Uyi said.

While it was true that before the war she was to be married off to a noble, it was in reality an archduke and in the end, he fell in battle... by Asaria's own hand. Asaria didn't need such weak men as partners. She hoped there would be at least one at least half her strength among the staff of the academy or among the older students.

On Amber's remark about the forbidden arts, Uyi replied: "I guess you have come across a necromancer or a blood mage before. What if I told you that I have had multiple encounters with an abyssal magic user? She could summon demon armies and exert control over them. While I may have no hopes in defeating said person, I can offer defense against lesser users of abyssal magic and against necromancers and blood mages. Even if I need to use raw force." Uyi cutely then punched the air. "Though I hope to learn how to use a sword while I am here. I only have experience with martial arts so far."

It seemed another newbie student joined the little group and introduced herself as Skadi Hatisdottir Xandria of Wyrmheim. "Baroness Uyi Karina of Hinunta. Teacher for demonology and defense against the forbidden arts." Uyi replied. "Well I..." Suddenly the first bell rang.

"Looks like we should make our way to the main hall for orientation. If you don't know the way, just follow me and I can guide you there." Uyi said with a smile.

Uyi then led the way to the main hall where already a couple hundred students were seated with the first row being honor students, the second to fifth row being new students and the rows thereafter being all others. Uyi looked up to the stage where the female teacher from before waved to her, signalling that she held a seat open for Uyi. She made her way over and sat down in the open seat.

Once all students were seated and all staff were present, the headmaster took the stand: "Welcome new students and current students. We have some changes this year. Some of you may have heard and some may be unaware. As of today, commoners with special potential may attend the academy." There were some gasps in the crowd. "Quiet down. This college is a place of learning. You are expected to treat fellow students with dignity and respect." The headmaster looked at the few commoners in the seats.

"Anyways, two teachers have gone. Professor Ainsmith has retired and Professor Faerun has perished during an exploration mission. To fill in for the vacancy is our new teacher, Baroness Uyi Karina of Hinunta!" The headmaster said motioning to Uyi. Uyi looked around nervously, hesistantly getting up and approaching the headmaster's side. "She will be teaching the elective courses demonology and defense against the forbidden arts."

Then some mockery from the crowd came. "How did such a low ranking noble become a teacher?" One student said. "Why would you offer such useless courses? Necromancers are weak and easy to defeat. And no one has ever seen a demon in real life!" Another student said.

Internally, Asaria/Uyi was disgusted. The arrogance of higher nobles was why she could care less if they met their end. She could just crush them with the shadows. But no, she'd have to endure it to keep up her disguise. Instead, Uyi said to the students: "I... I have seen demons before. Even an archdemon! They are no la... laughing matter."

After a moment of silence, a number of students erupted in laughter. "How is such a person supposed to defend against forbidden magic users? She seems so fragile." An arrogant student said. Uyi about had enough, so she had an idea. "W... well. L... like this." A light blue light engulfed her foot and she kicked high up in the air. Her form showed that she knew martial arts to an extent. "Then I give them one of these." Uyi's hand then glowed blue, then she punched, absolutely obliterating the stone pedestal the headmaster was standing behind. "I... I'm sorry headmaster. I guess I poured too much mana into my fist." She said.

The headmaster calmed her down and said: "Don't worry. We can have it replaced! Maybe they could take you a little more serious now. Now please have a seat." Uyi sat back down. Internally, she hoped her display would make students take her a little more seriously. Otherwise, she could have more tricks up her sleeve.

--2 days ago in the Kingdom of Venure--

"Fen, prepare to depart for the Kirganfel kingdom. You are to attend the college there for the next few years in order to further your studies."

Fen paused in between a bite of his food, looking between his brother and father. The three had been eating dinner in the dining room when his father had made the sudden statement, prompting the servants to scurry off in various directions knowing full well what was coming next. For a moment there was silence before Fen let out a chuckle. "Oh father, that's hilarious. I wasn't aware you had gotten a sense of humor while I was away. Hino why didn't you tell me!"

The king raised an eyebrow as silence fell in the room again.

"...."

"FATHER YOU'RE KIDDING" Fen exclaimed, shooting up out of his seat. "Did you not receive my message? I thought we had agreed that attending this year was NOT a part of the plan for anyone in this family."

When Fen had received the letter summoning him to the palace away from Erinei, he was well aware that his father would be requesting something more than a little unpleasant from him. However, a few days before his father's command, the snowbirds shared some whispers of rather ominous, hidden rumors that something was amiss this year within the Kirganfel kingdom. Knowing his brother was to attend this year, Fen had played with the idea of keeping the rumors hidden but decided against it when he thought of how much whining he would have to deal with if anyone were to ever figure out. So, he prepared a message and had it sent through his personal snowbird, Kiki, to the palace. Since Kiki had reported the message being delivered, Fen was more than a little blindsided by his father's demand for him to go in Hino's stead.

"I did receive your letter, and you are to go anyway. Now sit. I'm not in the mood to argue about this," the king said calmly, cutting through his steak.

"Well, I'm certainly in the mood to argue about this. Please explain to me why brother dearest over here is not going but I am being pushed to do so anyway. I mean I know he is far too dumb to handle even one class but still-" Fen said pointedly. Hino gave an offended gasp before throwing a small cherry tomato at his brother's head. Fen caught the tomato and chucked it back at Hino with such force that it proceeded to burst as soon as it landed on Hino's nose.

The king let out a sigh and placed down his cutlery.
"You know why Fen. Our attendance in the college is important to build diplomatic relations. Should we skip this year, we would be missing out on many opportunities for Venure to secure its standing. As to why I'm sending you and not Hino, there are two reasons. One, your information network will allow you to be prepared for any threats. Two..." The King paused for a moment, locking eyes with his son. "Your responsibilities to Erinei are small in comparison to Zaire, which is growing more by the day. Hino's responsibility outweighs yours and should something happen to him or Zaire, the kingdom would suffer greatly-"

"Whereas Erinei and I are disposable since we only just gained stability this year." Fen cut him off, muttering as he sat down and poked at his food. "Mum sure is going to be happy to hear this"

The King rubbed his forehead, his eyes seeming tired. "Fen, I care about you and your mother more than you would ever know. And while it may not seem like it, I do wish to see Erinei prosper. You may not like it, but you must remember I am a king and my duty is first and foremost to my kingdom, regardless of the wishes of my own family. Besides, you should consider this as an opportunity to help Erinei should things go well."

Fen stayed quiet, continuing to poke at his food. His father wasn't wrong, it was a good opportunity to help the people of Erinei. While sometimes his methods were questionable, Fen was well aware that his father was a good king, one that brought Venure much prosperity. Fen mulled over the conversation for another minute before responding. "Alright father, I'll go. I'd like to meet mother before I do though."

The kind nodded, dismissing Fen from the table so he may prepare. Fen got up from his seat and joined Nouren in the hall. "So..." Nouren began, observing the prince's face. He was well aware that Fen wouldn't have agreed unless he found some use in the matter.

Fen chuckled a bit, aware Nouren was testing the waters.
"It's not a bad idea honestly."

"Hm," Nouren hummed, satisfied with the answer as they walked towards the direction of the Queen's room. "I heard something peculiar from some old professor friends of mine earlier. There's a defense against the dark arts and Demonology teacher this year. She's possibly quite qualified albeit a bit timid."

"Oh?" Fen turned towards Nouren, his eyes glistening with interest. "Well, things just got more interesting."
"Indeed. I would advise you still proceed with caution, but there could be a chance she might have some advice on our..ahem..problem. Not to mention the library has a much wider range of books. Perhaps we could also find something more if we were to tap into that knowledge. "

Fen hummed in thought, feeling far more content on going despite his duties. "Nouren please take care of Erinei while I'm gone. I wouldn't trust anyone else with that task except you my friend."

Nouren smiled. "Of course, my prince."

The two arrived at the Queen's door and Nouren excused himself with a small bow. With a quick knock, Fen entered his mother's room with a childish smile. "Mother~ Guess who~"

"Fen! Is that you my child?" The queen called out, her voice weak but full of life and joy. "Come here, give your mother a hug." Fen rushed over with a laugh and sat in the space his mom had made for him, enveloping his mother in a tight hug. "I missed you."

"I as well, my dear. Tell me, how are you? And Nouren? What about things in Erinei?"

Fen took the rest of the afternoon telling his mother all the tales of what had happened during their time away from each other, ending with the decision to go to college. His mother gave a sweet smile, gently grazing his cheek with her thin hand. "Look at how much you've grown. I know this decision couldn't have been easy, but I'm sure you will find a way to make it work in your favor. Just don't cause too much trouble yes? I already pity the poor teachers who have to deal with your antics."

"Yes yes I'll try my best mum, but of course, I give no guarantee," Fen laughed in response when suddenly a knock rang through the room. "It is time to go, Your Highness."

Fen let out a sigh. Quietly, he reached into his pouch and pulled out a few mana stones, a strange yellow glow emitting from the paper they were wrapped in. He gently pressed the stones into his mother's hand. "Here mother. I was able to get quite a few prepared before coming here. Nouren will send you more if need be while I'm gone. Just make sure you continue to use them on time, okay?"

The queen smiled softly. "Of course. Don't worry about me Fen. You go have fun. And make sure to send Kiki often, I would love to hear how everything is going." Fen chuckled as he got up, placing a kiss on his mother's head. "Oh I'm going to send her so often, you'll get sick of me."

The queen rolled her eyes with a smile and gave a small wave as Fen headed out the door. "Goodbye, my dear."

"Goodbye, mother."

--A short while after--

Fen was loading his belongings with help from Nouren when Hino walked up to him.

"Fen"
"Hino" Fen returned the greeting, not really paying much attention to his brother. There was silence once more as Fen shuffled through his things. Hino ran a hand through his hair and tossed it uncomfortably. "...You take care over there Fen. I don't think things over here would be as fun if I didn't have someone to pick on. Also don't be too mad at dad. He genuinely thinks this is the best for you." Fen paused and looked over at his brother. Their relationship was an odd one for sure. On the surface, anyone else would think they hated each other, but it was more or less uncontrollable bickering on their part. Deep down the two always had each other's back. Their relationship was that of siblings who would constantly pick on each other but would tear someone apart the moment they looked at one or the other wrong. Having said that though, they were hardly ever this open about it.

"...Yeah." Fen blinked, unsure how to respond to the sudden softness in his brother's tone. "Also I'm not mad. Not anymore anyway."
The two shifted uncomfortably before Fen gave an exasperated sigh. "Okay this is getting weird, can we go back to fighting now."

Hino immediately let out a relieved breath. "Yes please, I thought you'd never ask. Now get out of my sight."

Fen laughed. "Anything to not hear your voice again."

--Arrival at Kirganfel kingdom--

"I have asked them to take everything to your room, my prince. I am afraid this is where we will have to part ways for now but I'll try to visit again in a week or two once you have settled. I'm sure any of the staff would be able to help you find your way to the opening ceremony. Though you are quite late already, perhaps you can catch the end of it before everyone heads out."

Nouren gave a quick bow. "I shall head out now"

Fen returned the bow. "Thank you Nouren. Send me a message once you have arrived safely."

Nouren nodded before walking off, leaving Fen by the entrance. "Okay, let's see..."
The entrance to the college itself was quite majestic, with many buildings coming into view along with a beautifully kept courtyard. It was definitely impressive, except for one slight problem. "Aaand I have no idea where to go" Fen exclaimed with a smile, looking around as slow panic set in as he realized that the courtyard was completely empty since everyone was attending the ceremony.

"Welp, let's go that way!" Fen said aloud to no one in particular before marching off in a random direction.

And that is how through a series of random turns and twists in various hallways, Fen had somehow managed to land himself directly on the side of the stage behind the curtain just as one of the teachers unleashed a mana-infused punch into the air, shattering the pedestal.

"Oh shoot-" Fen squeaked as he quickly dodged a stray piece of the pedestal that had ended up flying in his direction. The headmaster took a step back, surprised to suddenly hear a voice. He glanced off to the side, raising an eyebrow as his eyes peered at Fen who was still mostly hidden from the audience.

Fen gave a sheepish laugh as he gave the headmaster an embarrassed wave.
"I-I'm just going to go over there."

The headmaster smiled in amusement as Fen scurried off from the other side of the curtain and into an empty seat in the crowd.

"'Demonology'?" Chiron echoed in a tone laced with suspicion, meanwhile Skadi's smile didn't falter for even a moment. "'And defence against the forbidden arts' a most interesting and laudable field." She said with a fair amount of genuine interest within the diplomatic response. "My my an escort? How chivalrous and much appreciated."

Following the diminutive tutor to the assembly hall Skadi found a seat along with the other new students while Chiron was reluctantly shuffled off to the back with other attendants. The disturbed reaction of some in the crowd at being forced to mingle with commoners had Skadi glancing curiously at those most offended, her clan wasn't one to enforce such strict classes with her own status being derived from her parents' earned position instead of inherited.

Rather than reacting with shock or fear at the pugilistic pulverising of the pedestal she applauded as if it were a show.
"Marvellous, marvellous!"

Selene: Wow...
*selene walked around campus and goes to orientation, accidentally bumping into Fen*
Selene: Oh I'm so sorry, can I sit here?
Selene was filled with anxiety for her first day, but she remained calm by doing her breathing exercises and tracing the tattooed on her thighs, telling herself that everything would be fine. She had never been around this many people before, being homeschooled her whole life, but she was excited to finally make some friends, maybe find some people that understood her, so she dealt with her feelings and sighed

Light Don Quixote

Light looked up at the sky as the bell rang then back down Uyi as she spoke before leading the way to the main hall. He nodded his head acknowledging her offer and followed close behind. “You guys coming?” He turn his head back at the triplets.

As the got to the main hall Light and Uyi we separated as Light found a seat in the student section towards the back of the room. “This is going to be soo boorring.” He murmured to himself as he watched new faces walk past him.

As the headmaster began his speech, Light struggled with staying awake. Then Uyi was motioned next to the headmaster then she began to speak with a few hecklers interrupting. Suddenly an crashing sound rang through Lights ears as the stone statue was destroyed and it made him sit up and wiped any drowsiness he had.
