The bus wasn't even driving at this point, it was teleporting with how fast it was going. Inside of the bus, the passengers were perfectly safe, not affected by the speed, but it was incredible how fast it stopped at different locations, from the driest deserts to the coldest terrains, picking up assorted young adults as it went. What's more, it seemed to be lacking a driver, or perhaps driving itself. And it was unusually long as well, but that could just be because the bus continued to stretch to make room for new passengers. It resembled a train, almost. Luggage in overhead bins rattled and clunked as they zoomed along. It was a very unusual mode of transport indeed.

Jesse had already been picked up by the bus. He sat, alone, looking out the window for a while until staring back down at his lap. The velocity at which they were going was enough to make anyone queasy by looking out. Having said the most awkward goodbye to his bewildered father, he had brought what he could pack with him on the train. He examined the other passengers...they looked normal enough. He continued to survey the others with a mounting sense of interest and anxiety. Were all of these people like him? Did they all live normally? He hadn't even known that constellations had guardians, let alone anything more that pretty shapes in the sky. All of this was getting thrown at him at once, and it was on par with the dizzying outside view for being headache-inducing.

Elspeth wasn't prepared for the bus' presence at all. In fact, the young woman was actually in the middle of tracking down a particularly large Elk when the bus suddenly rampaged its way in front of her. While it did almost give her a heart attack, she had a suspicion this would happen someday. Orion had actually mentioned it. Something about being brought somewhere... And it looked like this was it. The letter she had read also mentioned a bus, but she must have lost track of time. She sighed a little, watching the Elk's footprints as it panicked and disappeared.

Knowing better than to try to resist the strange supernatural force that was the bus, she hopped on quietly. She hadn't been on many busses in her life, but it was pretty basic knowledge that, in almost every situation, there was a bus driver. However, it seemed the bus was far more supernatural than it appeared on the surface. A self driving, physics defying vehicle... That she was now inside of.

Deciding it best to move on, the young woman walked into the cab where many different kinds of people were. Were these other descendants associated with the constellations? It seemed like a pretty safe assumption. Luckily there was an empty seat close by, much to her relief. Taking a seat, she brought out a pouch and ate a small piece of jerky. A sound rattled above her without warning, and as she investigated she realized the bag she had filled with clothes at home had been brought along. Convenient. But a little off putting...

Still, she put it in the back of her mind. It was better to focus on planning for what could happen after the bus dropped them off. Looking around, she felt an uncomfortable aura from a lot of people inside the bus. Was this a surprise to them? Surely there were much more surprising things in store for them after the bus ride...

Jesse watched as people continued to board the bus. He watched a girl covered in snow board with mild interest. Everyone looked relatively normal. He didn't know exactly what he was expecting, maybe people shrouded in golden light with staffs and angel wings, something like that. But he guessed that all of that mythical stuff would happen once they made it to the school...wherever it was. He guessed that it was somewhere normal humans couldn't find, like the Bermuda triangle, or a deserted island, or somewhere in the sky. He wondered vaguely how long it would take them to get there. There surely weren't that many people, and this bus could go at an insane speed. His thoughts then drifted off to what type of food would be served at Starlight Institute. Would they have to eat stars or something?

Ga-ram gave her daughter one last, long hug before Aria managed to pull away.
"And you have your toothbrush? Your jacket?"
"Ne, omma," Aria said shortly. She was still irritated over the whole situation. It wasn't until after she'd received the bizarre letter that her mother had tried to explain everything to her. But even with the added weirdness of her father leaving to go fight star monsters or whatever, the fact that he'd left in the first place still stayed the same. Why had he been willing to have a relationship with her mother and then up and leave out of nowhere, shattering their lives?
Ga-ram tried to fight back the tears already welling up in her eyes. "I love you, aegi. You know that, right?"
Aria sighed. "Yeah, I know. I'm not mad at you, I just...It's a lot to take in at once."
That was when a bus seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Aria was startled by its sudden appearance. How fast had the thing been going? I mean why not add a magic bus to the craziness that was her life now. She said goodbye to her mom before boarding the bus. There were already a few people on board (One girl was covered in snow for some reason?) and Aria chose an empty seat close to the front of the bus, across the aisle from a normal-looking guy with fluffy brown hair. She paused. Wait. She'd forgotten her suitcase. She stood and was about to head back off the bus when the bus jolted forward once more, sending her flying back into her seat. Well, that was that then. But she looked up at a rattling noise and realized her suitcase was sitting above her in a bin. Magic buses, teleporting suitcases...why not. She popped an earbud in and opened her music app on her phone but it wasn't working. Fine. Great. Of course the magic bus wouldn't have decent service. She sighed and put her phone in her pocket as she glanced around at the other people on board. None of them had magical-looking staffs or wings, things she was kind of expecting. They seemed mostly...normal.

Cleo was in no way ready when she saw the bright shimmering vehicle roll to a stop right outside her 29th story apartment window. She had only half packed, knowing she wanted nothing to do with this "Starlight Academy" but having a forboding sense that she didn't have a choice in the matter. After all, would people with the power to sneak a letter into her room while she slept just up and leave if she said no? Yet with the bus floating right there, she didn't move. Maybe, just maybe, they didn't know if she was there. The windows were tinted, after all. Maybe she could wait it out. Yet she had only just begin to relax a modicum in her gaming chair when she felt a sensation of falling backwards and then slammed into a different, harder seat. Struggling to collect her senses, and suddenly noticing all the eyes on her, she could see her apartment window out the other side of the bus just as it flew out of view. With a cough and a nervous laugh, she muttered something unintelligable and turned herself away from all those eyes and tugged the hood on her oversize hoodie up, pulling her legs up and burying her head in them.
For a small comfort, she noticed her bag underneath her seat, looking more full than it had laying on her bed alongside all those strewn clothes. Reaching down to pull it into her lap, she zipped it open and immediately breathed a small sigh of relief; her laptop lay squarely on top of the various pairs of loungewear. If nothing else, she still had her laptop, and with that she might at least be able to manage away from home for however long this would be. Something she could glue herself to to get away from this talk of constellations, heirs, and responsibilities..

Jesse looked quite surprised at their next stop, one moment they were waiting for a girl and her guardian to finish saying goodbye, and the next moment they were hovering in mid-air? He then figured he shouldn't be this surprised- it seemed like no one on ground level noticed this supernatural bus in the sky. This is only the beginning of the strangeness, Jesse thought. He saw a girl appear in a seat nearby moments later. They then stopped somewhere in Europe, moreover, Spain. Jesse looked out the window again, very enthralled. He had always wanted to go to Europe.

The next passenger came out of the first floor of a dingy apartment building. She, however, didn't look like she belonged there. She looked like she had tumbled out of Vogue. She walked onto the bus, her head held high to disguise her utter bemusement and nervousness about what she was doing. She sat down on the free seat closest to the front, which happened to be next to Jesse.

"You, pretty boy." she demanded haughtily to a puzzled Jesse, who pointed to himself in his confusion. He had been staring out the window, not paying attention to who had been collected. "Where are we going?"

Jess raised his eyebrows. 'Pretty boy'? Him? "Uh, we're going to Starlight Institute. Listen, I know about as much as you do." he replied.

"Zu, did you finish packing everything?" Rosa called out while entering her child's room. She knew Azul didn't want to go, they had told her very clearly that was the case yesterday; but more than anything, she knew they were likely to have postponed packing their bag until the last second and might be rushing to fit as many shirts into the bag as they could. Surprisingly though, the bag was ready and sitting on top of the bed, what was missing was the young adult that should be there waiting to be picked up by the bus. The woman just sighed and knocked on the closet's door. "Azul, you can't hide in there forever, you know? The letter said you have to go."

As expected, the closet opened to a sulking brunette sitting on the floor with a white rabbit next to him. "No quiero," was all he said before attempting to close the door again. Keyword being "attempting", since his mother held the door open to sit next to him. Azul huffed before petting their rabbit, something that always calmed him. "It's just crazy, isn't it?"

For a couple of minutes the two sat there as Azul listed their concerns on their fingers, most of which had to do with Rosa and their new pet being left alone and food, as their mom simply reminded them that she was perfectly capable of handling herself and a rabbit. It wasn't long until they saw the glowing bus (which was long enough to look more like a train really) show up outside their window, and seeing it face-to-face, so to speak, was actually rather exciting! It felt like some magical movie they had watched before.

He turned to his mom, who was holding onto his bag, and hugged her tight while saying goodbye and some other rushed things before quickly going into the train-bus-thing.

Of course there's no driver, why would there be a driver in a magical bus-train? Weirdly enough, the other people in the bus looked far more normal than they were expecting, even if they weren't sure what to expect. People with wings or halos that had stars on their skin and hair, maybe? Nonetheless, they must've been thinking on it a little too long, because the machine's sudden jerk pulled them out of their thoughts as they stumbled to an open seat, shoving their bag on the bin above. They tried to look at the view outside, but only for a moment since the speed was too dizzying.

Bobby was astonished by the appearance of the bus even if he might have been expecting it. Even more so with the fact there was no driver. Right outside of his families suburban house in St. Paul Minnesota with a light snow covering the ground. Bobby had been thinking perhaps this had been a big old ruse, but for some reason had packed anyway. He had his gear packed, albeit his duffelbag seemed to be perhaps more stuffed than his suitcase the hockey stick pointedly sticking out. He didn't know much about this academy, but hoped they would have an ice rink. He wore a comfortable red hoodie with yellow accents and a prominent M of the Minnesota Gophers.

As he boarded he threw both his suitcase and dufflebag into the overhead with an effort needed for the dufflebag making sure the stick didn't fall down with the heave up. He gave a small satisfied huff as he did so. He scanned the bus looking towards the occupants before deciding to go introduce himself to the red-haired girl with a pouch of seeming jerky, taking a seat right nearby.

"Hey there! I'm Bobby nice to meet ya" He'd give a casual smile with his elongated canines that had recently grown as he turned 18 showing through. "Know whats up with this bus. ain't got no driver, a bit peculiar"

Elspeth's gaze landed on every occupant of the bus at least once, especially those who boarded after her. It wasn't as if she was staring; it was usually just a quick glance to register their presence. As she did all the time, every day. However, what she hadn't expected was for someone to meet her gaze, and still decide to sit somewhere closeby her. Still, it didn't take her long to regain her composure. He seemed to be eager to talk, so she faced him when he started his chatter. It was almost like a little gecko had approached, if she was going to compare him to an animal. And while they were rare, they still interested her. She tilted her head ever so slightly at his question, her head turning to the missing driver. Realizing he had introduced himself, she put a hand to herself and faced him. "I am Elspeth." Her words were simple, but punctuated as she nodded slightly.

As for the question of the driver, she put a hand to her chin. "I am not sure. This is all confusing," she admitted, leaning back as she pondered their situation. And while she wasn't one for carrying conversations, she seemed pretty open. Her eyes drifted to the window for a moment, and she immediately regretted it. Horseback riding was nowhere near as quick as this. Nor was the occassional train ride she'd take with her family... And it absolutely screwed with her senses.

"Elspeth" He'd again give another smile before going further into conversation. It help keep nerves down in situations of unknown variables like this to keep focused on conversation. Besides there wasn't anything else to be done at a time like this then meet other people! "One of the craziest things I've seen though, wonder if the school is going to be more of that." He'd let out a small chuckle at the seeming magic of this whole experience "Anyways I'm from St. Paul, but I'm sure you already saw that when I hopped on this crazy ride. Where do you hail from?" He'd relax in his seat as he naturally flowed into leading the conversation interested to learn more about his future classmate.

Conversation with EggB EggB

The next stop the bus made was outside a sunny suburban home, with seemingly the whole family stood right on the curbside. As the bus appeared, Finn turned to his family, a beaming smile on his face. "Well, this seems to be my ride," he stated. His mother was holding back tears as his father pulled him into a big hug, and even Laila seemed to be present, not having her nose buried in her phone like it was the majority of the time. He gave his father a squeeze, and then a more gentle one to his mother, who did her best to not let her mascara run onto his sleeve. Finally, Finn turned to Laila. The two siblings exchanged a look, and Finn gave her a bright smile. "Take care of them for me, okay?" he told her, ruffling her hair.

"Okay, fine, whatever," Laila said, exasperated, and pushed him away gently. "Just get out of here before your bus leaves you behind." But she was smiling too, and Finn swore he saw a little tear starting to form in the corner of her eye.

Nodding, Finn picked up his suitcase and overstuffed backpack, and boarded the bus, doing his best to shove both items into an open overhead bin next, next to someone's duffle with a hockey stick sticking out. Surprisingly, everyone here looked normal. Finn wasn't sure what he'd been expecting, but as the bus lurched forwards, he found himself sliding haphazardly into a seat, probably next to someone else. He didn't have much time to think about who'd be his conversation partner, as the bus once again lurched to a stop.

This time, the scene outside the bus wasn't of a family wishing their eldest farewell. The bus had parked itself on a street corner, one that didn't look too terribly clean or safe. On said corner, a lone teen leaned against a street lamp, a small backpack worth of stuff slung over their shoulder. They looked up from their phone, pale blue eyes scanning the vehicle up and down with a steely gaze. With a soft "Tch," the teen kicked off the street lamp, stamped out their cigarette, and stepped up the stairs onto the bus. From the moment they hopped aboard, they were immediately raking their eyes through the already gathered faces. Cold, calculating looks bore into each and every one of the kids gathered, and it was clear Remi was sizing them up, determining their capacity to fight. Their eyes landed on Finn last, who blinked blankly back. Finally, Remi rolled their eyes and walked down the center aisle, not bothering to put their backpack up on a rack, and flopped into a further back seat, kicking their legs up onto the seat next to them.

The next scene was from another dirty looking yet entirely different city. Hovering just outside the fire escape, the bus seemed to wait patiently for the next arrival. Inside the window, a young girl was still frantically putting together a suitcase. "Your bus is here," a voice from further inside the apartment stated, and those looking from inside the bus could see a woman peek her head out the window. "She'll be just a minute," the woman stated before popping back inside.

"Mom, you're embarrassing me," Callie sighed, closing the suitcase and hauling it out onto the fire escape.

"I'm your mother, I'm allowed," the woman teased, pulling Callie back from the bus to give her a final kiss on the forehead. She tucked a loose strand of hair behind the young girl's ear, and patted her softly on the shoulder. "Go. Have fun, make some friends, learn something interesting."

Callie smiled softly. "Thanks, I will." Picking up the suitcase again, she turned and boarded the bus.

"And don't forget to write!" Callie's mom called, and Callie waved in response, before the bus took off again. Suddenly uncomfortable with the amount of eyes on her, Callie quickly tossed her suitcase into the overhead bins and took up the first seat she could find.

Without music to keep her busy (stupid magic bus), Aria focused instead on analyzing everyone that boarded the bus. Besides the two already on board when she'd gotten on and herself, there were nine others. So twelve total so far.
There was a girl with red hair that more appeared in a seat rather than boarding the bus. She saw the girl breathe a sigh of relief when she saw her laptop and Aria smiled a little. Okay, so she wasn't the only one being thrown into all this craziness not ecstatic about meeting all these people. She might be okay.
There was a girl with beautiful brown hair (Aria might've stared a moment too long) that acted like she practically owned the place. Aria had to stifle a laugh at the way she haughtily called out the oblivious fluffy-haired dude across the aisle and held her head high in order to hide her nerves. A good tactic, but Aria saw right through it. This girl could be interesting.
There was someone with dark hair, almost black, and some ear piercings. She smiled as the bus started and they stumbled into a seat a few rows back. Someone really needed to let the passengers know when the bus was starting and stopping. They were all being thrown around like rag dolls.
There was a blonde-haired dude that immediately started talking to snow girl as soon as he'd gotten on the bus. Definitely a happy-go-lucky extrovert.
Then there was a guy with wavy brown/blonde hair who was saying goodbye to his family. Aria glanced at them, slightly jealous he seemed to have a happy and whole family. He boarded the bus and haphazardly slid into a seat. For real, who was gonna let the magic bus know not to be so violent? They were all gonna end up bruised and shaken before they even got to the stupid star school.
This next one was interesting. The bus was stopped at a dark street corner. Their pale blue eyes were the first thing she noticed about them. As they kicked off the street lamp, stamped out their cigarette, and got onto the bus, Aria's gaze followed them. Cold, calculating looks bore into everyone in turn. They were sizing everyone up, she realized. She smirked when their gaze fell on her. They seemed to expect one of two reactions: either breaking eye contact nervously or challenging them by looking back. Aria, obviously, decided on the latter. She'd dealt with bullies before, her brother could attest to that, but she didn't necessarily do it because she felt like this kid was a bully. She did it because this person was the first one she couldn't immediately figure out. They were interesting. After they finished their once-over of everyone on the bus, they flopped into a further back seat, kicking their legs up onto the seat next to them. Aria stifled a laugh. So no conversation from this one, then. Still, she was intrigued.
The last person to board was a girl with bleached-blonde hair. As the girl's mom gave her a final kiss on the forehead, Aria glanced away, already missing her own mother. As much as Ga-ram could seem overbearing at times, she loved Aria and Aria loved her. She sighed as the bus lurched forward once more and the girl chose a seat, reminded of how much she'd really rather not go wherever they were going. What if she saw her father? Worse, what if he wanted to talk to her? She blocked out everything going on around her while the bus drove on, having done enough analyzing of everyone for now. Some seemed more approachable than others but she guessed she'd soon find out, once they got to star school.

Ximena looked faintly annoyed at Jesse's vague response, but pursued the topic no further. Instead, she realized someone was watching her. She looked around until she found the source, and caught Aria's eyes for a second before looking back at Jess. "So...you are also a constellation child?" she inquired. According to the letter she had received, she was a member of the Vulpecula bloodline. She was never one to enjoy astronomy, she barely knew all the zodiac signs, so this was all new territory for her.

"Yeah. I'm a child of Taurus." Jesse murmured in response. This was something that he could actually answer. His hazel eyes drank in Ximena's appearance. She looked very pretty, sure, but that was only her outward appearance. From what he could tell, she was a very straightforward and blunt person. Perhaps a bit rude.

Soon, the bus pulled to a stop in front of a beach house, on the sunny shores of Gold Coast, Australia. A boy with blonde hair and sun-kissed skin moseyed on inside, waving to his shocked mother and terrified father, smiling all the while. He plopped himself down on the nearest available seat, like this was something that he had been looking forward to all his life, looking around excitedly. He had just broken the news to his parents that morning, and had spent the last few hours trying to console them while packing his things at the same time. Of course, he'd miss his seaside home, but he was more than thrilled to be here, and perhaps be a part of something that was bigger than himself.

Legs to her chest and eyes glued to her phone despite not really looking at anything, Cleo tried her best to listen and think to quiet her unease.

"You, pretty boy. Where are we going?"
"Uh, we're going to Starlight Institute. Listen, I know about as much as you do."

"Know what's up with this bus? Ain't got no driver, a bit peculiar."
"I am not sure. This is all confusing."
"One of the craziest things I've seen though, wonder if the school is going to be more of that."

So at least it was clear just about nobody else here was any more familiar or unsurprised than she was about everything she was experiencing. That was almost a little relieving. They were all going into this blind, so she wouldn't be starting at a disadvantage. Or, well, any more of a disadvantage than she could always expect to be at. She let out an almost imperceptible sigh, placing her phone on her knees to rub her hands together. She wondered what the Starlight Institute was supposed to be like. Would they have low-latency internet? Eh, probably not, old star farts probably don't care about their ping. Would the dorms be comfortable? She had never stayed outside of her home, so she really didn't know what to expect. She doubted it to compare to that familiar comfort of her room, but maybe it would at least be serviceable.

Suddenly she was jolted back to reality by someone slipping into the seat next to her with more than a little force as the bus shot forward from another stop. Her phone slipped from its delicate placement on her knees, and she instinctively started to rush to catch it, but much to her relief it plopped unceremoniously into the folds of her pale blue sweatshirt instead of bouncing towards the floor, to be lost under the seats for the stars knew how long. Sneaking a glance over at whoever this was, she noticed only the boy's strong physique and short mop of light brown hair before she shot her eyes back to her phone. Jock type, probably, prone to asking questions and breaking comfortable silences. Just her luck. She steeled herself for if anything was going to happen, while trying to go back to listening.

"So...you are also a constellation child?"
"Yeah. I'm a child of Taurus."

That was something she had avoided lingering on up until now. Constellation children? Bloodlines? And the letter, it had said that she a child of both the bloodlines of Corvus and Bootes? Did that mean that both Augustus and Callum were, like, star deities? One hell of a reason for never being home, she thought, but she still didn't forgive them for it. She wondered if she would meet them in the flesh while she were here.. She shook her head lightly and squeezed her legs closer to her chest. Best not think about that for now.
The Crow and the Herder, then. She was at least familiar with the basic meanings of the constellations, and she could make pretty good guesses as to which of her fathers fit with those one-word descriptors even with the limited interaction she had had with the two of them. So, was it common to have two bloodlines? The one person she knew now, that boy she kept overhearing, only had one, and honestly that seemed to be a more likely scenario. She kept coming back to the biggest question in her mind, though; what did all of this mean for her? She knew it meant she had to learn.. something at this institute, but there was nothing special or even competent about her. What were they expecting from her? She hated having so many more questions than answers, and her mind started to swim from the worry. She closed her eyes and leaned her head back. Things were moving way too fast for her, and she knew they were only going to get more hectic soon.

A moment of silence passed as he said her name, since not a lot of people did. Each time someone new entered the bus, she would similarly pause to acknowledge their presence, and then give her attention to Bobby once more. Even with more people beginning to chat, it was easy for her to pick out Bobby's specific voice after she'd heard him speak. Thankfully, he was quick to pick up the conversation again, passing along some of his curiosities and introductions. Saint Paul, she felt like she'd heard of that. Hockey was pretty popular in Canada, and she was pretty sure there was a hockey team there... The huntress wasn't a total recluse after all. It just wasn't often she left the wilderness. It's what her father would want... At least, that's what she had to assume. So, she had to try her best to carry on his legacy, and make him proud...

If he would only come back and see how far she's come...

Blinking her thoughts away, she figured she should respond. With a furrowed brow, her response was short and simple. "I have never been there," she remarked. "I was born in Canada... It's rare that I leave." The woman admitted, a bit bothered that she hasn't had a lot of experience exploring other parts of the world. "This is the first time in a... Long time," she added. Somehow it seemed like a sore subject, but it was far from making her shy away from the conversation. Painful memories lead to growth. It was important to face them head on. An open wound undressed causes infection... And that was the last thing she needed. Elspeth had to be strong. There was no other choice.

Bobby didn't focus much on the others that entered the train focusing most of his energy on the interaction of the conversation. Only giving a glance and nod and smile to Finn who sat somewhere close by after placing his items away, allowing the man to hop into conversation if he wished.

"That's real cool! I've been up there a few times, well perhaps not where your from? But I've visited for a few tournaments for hockey, some real fun cities up there!" He'd give a wide smile remembering some of his adventures from younger youth his elongated canine again flashing that he had received change with this call from the stars. "I loved Ottawa when I was there, in the winter the river through the city will freeze and you can skate right through it. Nice to explore as well ya know." He'd take into consideration the woman's expression and surmised that she was nervous about new places from her hesitance, "Going to new places can be daunting at times, but I'm sure there will be some things that are same to back home. Might have some good Italian food or something ya never know." He'd give a small chuckle to his own comment at the end waiting to see her response. He seemed relaxed in talking about the known to him, not wanting to focus on the future and responsibilities of his supposed constellation. The best thing to do was build upon what you know on, and the first step was knowing those around her.

Later when Remi entered the bus the way he coldly stared briefly without saying a word made him uneasy him turning to Elspeth to chat as the man scanned. He didn't like people who acted as they were superior than others. He would make a comment to Elspeth, "Don't know that guy's deal is..."

The seaside boy stood upright after sitting down, and prodded the head of the boy that sat in front of him, who happened to be talking about his divine ancestry. "Hello, mate, my name's Atticus, but please, call me Niko, and I was wondering if you could clarify a few things for me, all this stuff's a little confusing..."

Jesse turned around upon feeling someone poking at his head. He didn't seem too fazed though, and instead raised an eyebrow and replied, "Shoot."

"Well, you think we'll be able to see our parents on Earth and stuff? I mean, both of my parents are these constellation things- Hydra and Aquarius, you see- and my mortal parents aren't really my parents, but you know, it would suck if we never see them again."

Ximena let out a little mirthless snort of laughter, and both Jess and Atticus turned to look at her. Her cheeks reddened slightly under their gazes, but she muttered, "I was just thinking about my mortal parent." Her mother was currently serving time in prison.

"...Alright then..." Jesse looked back at Atticus. "Well, I can't say that I know for sure. I'm pretty sure most of our questions will be answered when we get to the institute...wherever it is."

Elspeth sat back a little, trying to relax her tensed body. "I grew up in a tiny town. Flin Flon. I doubt you've heard of it," she replied bluntly, though it wasn't as if she was being particularly cold. It was just a fact to her; the town had a population of around 6,000, and she had lived on the outskirts. It would have surprised her more if he had been there. Outside of the conversation, his flashing canines did not go unnoticed; however, unlike certain animals, his show of teeth didn't seem threatening. His recollection of Ottawa was, in fact, quite harmless. She even smiled a little. "Ah, ice skating... I am not good at that one," she admitted with a soft smile. There were really only good memories she had of ice skating, even though she had infrequently indulged. At his mention of italian food, she seemed relatively neutral. "You may be right," the woman concluded simply, and turned the thought over a few times. Well, what better time to start exploring what is new than with something completely foreign? A star academy in the sky... What could possibly go wrong.

At Bobby's comment, she gazed back at Remi. Her gaze was steady, but not particularly threatening. After the person in question went to sit down, Elspeth relaxed a bit. It seemed she had accidentally tensed, just in case of an incident. Deep, blue eyes made eye contact with Bobby, uncertain. "I don't know. Perhaps not everyone wants to be here," she reasoned, trying not to let it ruffle her. Did Elspeth want to be here either? It wasn't really her choice, and for that reason alone she had accepted her situation. "Do you?" She'd question concisely, addressing Bobby. It was an innocent enough question. Elspeth wouldn't hold his answer against him either way, she just had a genuine curiousity. Her eyes would drift from him as she saw a bird outside of their window. It was a miracle she had spotted it, because it was gone in the next instance...

Finn looked over to his seat partner when her phone dropped from her knee into the folds of fabric, a moment of panic flashing over his face when it dropped, only fading when it was revealed that the phone was not lost into the oblivion of the floor of the bus. If it had slid to the back, there was no telling when she'd be getting the device back, if at all. "Oops, sorry," he apologized, despite not really doing any harm. "Good thing it didn't go far, though, right?" Finn gave a small grin, something between apologetic and a little awkward. Not the best introduction he could have made. "My name's Finnegan, but most people just call me Finn. Pleasure to meet you." Grin brightening to a more friendly expression, he sat up straight in his chair, slightly turned towards his seat partner, and offered a hand to shake.

When Elspeth cast their gaze back towards Remi, the other teen's gaze turned to lock eyes with her. Deep pools of blue connected with harsh blue-grey for a moment. As Elspeth turned away, Remi simply shook their head and rolled their eyes, as if dismissing Elspeth from their mind. They pulled out a simple metal lighter and fiddled with it, clacking the lid open and shut, every once in a while lighting the flame and putting it out by shutting the lid. This entire school was going to get on their nerves, they just knew it.

Callie scooted over when a blond haired boy slid into the seat next to her, intimidated both by his presence and appearance, but not necessarily in a bad way. It felt more like being starstruck than anything. She watched quietly, tucking into herself, as the boy stood up and tapped on the head of the guy in the row in front of them. At the mention of not being able to see their mortal parents again, Callie's eyes went wide. No, that can't be the case, she thought. I have to be able to go home at some point, right? There's no way they'll force us to stay forever. I have to be able to see my mom again. I can't just leave her forever without a more proper farewell. Her panic effectively tuned her out of the conversation, her breathing picking up rapidly. There's no way, there's no way...

Atticus seemed quite sullen at the frank but vague response. "Oh. Thanks, mate." he mumbled. Jesse nodded.

"There's no way they'll cage us in at the institute, right? We can't stay there until we graduate." Ximena piped up, looking indignant. Jesse shook his head.

"No way, we'll probably go back home over the summer. Unless you get summer school or something. Then you'll have to stay." Jesse confided. The weights in both of their chests lifted; Atticus audibly sighed with relief.

"That's good, I mean, I don't know about you guys, but I love my mortal parents." Atticus mentioned absentmindedly, trying to withstand the dizzying view of the windows. Ximena clicked her tongue, but said nothing. However, Jesse nodded in agreement.

It was a good thing Cleo started to prepare herself for a potential conversation. So long, comfortable silence. Wish me luck.

She didn't see the brief look of panic on that flashed across the face of her new conversation partner, but when he apologized for the near-disaster she felt like she needed to reply.
"Um, yeah, good thing."

When he introduced himself as Finnegan, or Finn, and held out his hand, she awkwardly pulled a hand out of her lap, half covered in her oversized sweatshirt, and gave his a weak shake while she responded. Her posture didn't change from its rather slumped back state, with legs up against her chest, nor did she look away from where her phone rested in her lap after that one quick glance.
"Cleo, and that's also what most people call me, it isn't shortened or anything and doesn't get shortened by anyone."

Well that sounded stupid as hell. Nice start, idiot. She quickly returned her hand to her lap, jabbing at herself internally for how awkward she knew she sounded. But she couldn't escape this when there was nowhere to go, so she begrudgingly tried to continue. She rubbed one hand with the other gently while she spoke in a quiet, lyrical voice.
"Um, I suppose you received one of those letters too, right? That's why you're here..?"

Bobby would give a positive wave of smiles and reassure that "I reckon you're probably better than darn near everyone on this bus. I bet half ain't even seen a rink" He'd give a small laugh.

As she turned to him with a direct gaze of her eyes and a direct question it made bobby avert his eyes after a brief moment. With a small blush, he realized he wasn't certain. It was a question he hadn't all too much considered, but he felt it right to be honest about that. As she began to stare out the window he came to a response. "Well, I suppose I'll figure that out as we go. You see, I'm supposedly from the constellation Serpens, but I ain't never felt any special sense of being different, ya know." He'd give a moment to exhale "My pa suggested it was best I hear the letter out, so I ended up deciding to see how it goes." He'd let out a smile, but it would seemed forced as compared to the previous ones if examined.

"I suppose my view is that life's a bit like skiing down a mountain. You see, there's a path that's set for ya, like all my siblings got there different talents, but it's up to you to decide what ya do with that course. Ya can either crash into a tree, or ya can have a fun, wind-blowing ride!" He'd give a little snort, "And I suppose that was a real long-winded answer a yes or no question"

Finn's handshake was firm yet gentle, and it was clear that he was doing most of the shaking in the interaction. He pulled his hand away shortly after, properly taking a moment to read the other's body language and noticing how tucked into herself she was. "Cleo. It's a good name," he said with a warm smile. "Yup, I got a letter too. Something about Starlight Institute, if I remember correctly. I'm assuming that's where we're going." Leaning back in his seat, he turned his gaze to the rest of the bus briefly, scanning the other passengers. "Everyone here looks more or less normal, though. Do you think they were lying about our lineage? I haven't noticed anything different about me from everyone else I've met, aside from obvious normal things like appearance and personality." Realizing he was probably talking too much and too loudly, he sunk somewhat sheepishly back into the seat, allowing a chance for his conversation partner to actually contribute to the conversation if she wanted to.

Cleo mumbled a "Thanks." when Finn complimented her name, but otherwise she sat quietly listening to him talk with her eyes on her phone, the simplicity of listening to another talk temporarily giving her some ease. When he quieted down suddenly, though, and she could see him sink back in his seat in her peripheral vision, that awkward feeling came back. She replied after a slightly-longer-than-comfortable pause, looking up for the first time at the seat in front of her when she spoke.

"I wouldn't understand their motivation for lying, unless they believe something like one of those 'great people aren't born, they're made' clichΓ©s and are just grabbing random people. But, umm, I don't really have any good reason to doubt it right now, so it is what it is, I guess..."

She crossed her arms in her lap and bit at her lip for a moment before letting out a short sigh.
"But then, well, they'll certainly realize their mistake in drafting someone like me into whatever this is and throw me back out, if it was just a matter of chance."
I don't stand any chance of carrying on anyone's legacy anyway, so I hope it's just a mistake...

A rare smile passed Elspeth's lips at Bobby's comment, her eyes drifting as she was flooded with memories. "I was a young girl the last time I saw one," she reminisced. Probably... 7 years ago now? Time truly did fly by... Still, she was grateful to be reminded of that era of her life. But this wasn't the time to recall the past so flippantly; she was in the midst of a conversation.

Her gaze was softened a little as he seemed to turn away in uncertainty. The sudden discomfort was easy to notice. Carefully bringing her foot up to rest on the seat, she leaned on her knee a little while she gave him her ear. His words spoke to her. Though she had always known that her father was not especially normal, it never dawned on her that she may be different from many of her peers. Her knack for hunting was just her hardwork... Or was it? It had come close to shattering her confidence. Did she truly earn her talent, the one thing she felt called to her? Or was it all because of a special gift? If she were to lose that gift, would she even be the same person? These questions, though rarely, haunted her thoughts. "We feel almost the same," she realized, her eyes falling to the floor. "I thought I'd earned my skill as a hunter through hardwork... But the Orion constellation runs in my blood." She concluded, rubbing her leg in a self-soothing manner. This was her burden to bear...

His metaphor did seem to bring her out of her heavy thoughts, and she managed to make eye contact once more. "I'd prefer to not hit the tree." She confessed, a half smile on her face. It seemed the strange thoughts weren't totally preoccuping her, which was good if she was ever going to make it to the school. His positive outlook was also a little contagious... However, at his yes or no remark she shook her head. "It isn't a simple question, but your answer worked well." She reassured, starting to take her gloves off as the snow melted. It didn't seem to bother her, even as it melted on her hair. The animal pelt she was wearing was also water repellent. It made for a very convenient snowy outfit, along with the leather pants she wore. There were brown colors all over her outfit, with a hint of white and black here or there. It was likely this would be a theme with all of her clothes on the trip.
