1x1 Angel and Demon War

Ash was shaking, tears in her eyes as Dez placed the gun against his own forehead. Whilst she had been surprised that he had disarmed Simon and knocked him out, she was still upset, wings vibrating

Adrenaline flooding his system from the sudden confrontation, Dez looked down at the unconscious Simon, taking a moment to register what had happened, before he looked back at Ash, a dry grimace on his face. "I confess, that could have gone better," he admitted, examining the gun he now held. Glancing up at Ash, he wished for their moment of tender intimacy back, to kiss her again and pretend Simon had never existed, but things weren't that simple. "We probably ought to find a way out of here, before he comes to."

Ash nodded, searching Simon for the key, and pulling it from his pocket, hands shaking, "L-Lets go" She stuttered, grabbing his hand and pulling him from the room, locking the door from the outside

Holding her hand back, Dez pulled her close for a moment, kissing her briefly. "Once we're out of this," he said, saying nothing more, that promise explanatory in itself, sealed by the kiss. He then awaited her locking the door, then moved downstairs, dropping off the keys at the reception and bidding the receptionist goodbye and giving her his hurried thanks. "There's got to be a ship leaving here sooner or later," he said, looking around the sea front when they arrived outside.

Ash looked around after they got outside, his kiss lingering on her lips. Her hand shook in his, "W-Wouldn't they expect us to take a ship Dez?" She asked him worriedly

Scratching the back of his head, Dez had to admit she had a point. "True, but how many ships can they track?" Running a hand back through his hair, he tried to think of some better alternative, but a mix of panic and excitement drew up a mental blank for him. "Any bright ideas?" He asked her hopefully, since she tended to be pretty good with those.

Ash shook her head, her mind oddly blank. She shuffled on her feet, looking about, "I-It seems t-the only w-way currently..." She muttered. She'd never been on a boat before, seeing as she could fly, but she couldn't carry Dez the whole way

Smiling softly, Dez took her hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "I know it's not ideal, but if we can just get out of here, then we can find a way to shake them off our tail, or find somewhere safe from them." He looked up at the sea shore, glancing over to where the docks were, at least a dozen boats being loaded, awaiting to set sail. "We ought to have at least an hour before Simon rejoins the world of the conscious. Perhaps we can hitch a ride with some traders, or moonlight as stowaways. Something the humans won't be expecting as much as a passenger ship."

Ash nodded, and pulled him toward a cargo ship, filled with large crates and containers. the angel opened one container, and pulled him inside, closing it. It was empty inside, and roomy

"Well this is cosy," Dez remarked from inside the container, glad to find he had some legroom for the long haul journey. Now that they'd actually found somewhere, it was more exciting than terrifying, coupled with the buzz from his previous kiss with Ash. What the humans had learned still hung in the back of his mind, but he tried to ignore it, tried to focus on the positive for now, at least until Ash was safe. "Stowaways, huh?" He remarked, raising an eyebrow at Ash. "Your criminal prowess knows no bounds."

Ash raised an eyebrow, "Just because I can open a box" She muttered, looking wary, "I...I've never been on a boat before..." She whimpered, slowly sitting and leaning against the side of the container

Taking her hand, Dez gave it a reassuring squeeze, rubbing circles on the back of her hand with his thumb as the ship set off, rocking slightly. "If you feel ill or anything just give me a heads up. And don't worry, they're perfectly safe." He gave her a small smile, hoping to somehow make her feel a little less wary. "You'll be fine, trust me. We've just survived crazy simon; a boat should be child's play to us."

Ash nodded quietly, holding his hand back, closing her yes as the ship started off to its destination. It wasn't that she didn't like the ship, it was that, with the added weight of her wings, she couldn't swim

Dez was about to say something further to comfort her, guessing that angels couldn't have much use for ships or water what with having wings, when voices sounded from close by. Others, two others judging by the two different pitches of voices, were present in the storage of the ship, and by the sound of it they were looking for something in one of the containers. Falling silent, Dez froze, throwing Ash a 'shit' glance before looking up at the container lid, praying it would not open.

Ash whimpered softly at the rocking of the boat, and sat still, looking at Dez with panicked eyes. Whoever it was, be it demon, angel or human, would likely chuck one or both of them off the ship, and with Dez's hatred of salt, and Ash's wing weight, neither of them were likely to get far

Meeting her panicked gaze and trying to smile to tell her everything was going to be okay, Dez counted slowly in his head, keeping his breath calm. It worked a charm, for it was an act he'd practiced many time, and the perfect picture of serenity he looked at her and said, whisper quiet, "It's going to be alright."

Then the lid opened, and everything went to hell.

Ash nodded, trying to agree with him, though her breathing was almost at hyperventilating stage, and her eyes were wide with fear and terror. As the lid opened, the angel froze, whimpering softly

Looking down at them were two angels, both of whom seemed rather surprised to find two stowaways in the crate. Their surprise was quickly replaced by anger, however, after a moment of studying Ash's face. "You," the both said in unison, with equal amounts of venomous distaste. They then proceeded to haul both the stowaways out of the crate, being especially rough with Ash.

Ash whimpered softly, wide eyes looking at Dez worriedly. At least they were being more rough with her and not him. She didn't fight, instead letting them haul her out roughly. She didn't like it, but fighting would only make things worse, and they could easily threaten Dez if she did

"Look, we can explain-" Dez began, but their new captives weren't interested in him.

"Look what we have here," one said to the other, narrowing their eyes at Ash. "The Slayer of Demons. Well aren't we just so very honoured to have you on board." They then proceeded to spit at her feet.

"Wait..." Dez said slowly, since this felt an awful lot like how demons would treat her, not her own species. "Aren't you guys supposed to be on her side?"

"We're not on anyone's side," one of the angels snapped back. "We're not a part of this damned war. She, on the other hand, is."

Ash lowered her head silently, still refusing to fight. She gave Dez a fleeting look, silently thanking him for trying, even if his ideas weren't working at all. Her feathers ruffled, though it was hard to tell whether it was from anger or fear

Okay, so, situation check. These angels were clearly against the war, that much they'd made obvious. Ash was apparently even more infamous than Dez had first realised, and apparently so much so that they could recognise her on sight. Just how many demons must she have killed to achieve that kind of notoriety?

Dismissing that thought, because now really didn't seem like the time to try and deal with that realisation, Dez focused on the angels. "And who's this?" One of them asked, jerking his head in Dez's direction. "Your latest prisoner?"

Ash glared up at them, "you should know I don't have prisoners" She spat, "Too much work to keep around." She growled, mask of anger falling into place. "This is Dez. We were tortured by humans and were escaping when we met you lovely fellows" She snarled

One of the angels, the one with a ridiculously beautiful, pointed face and blonde hair, responded with anger to Ash's spitting, but the other held him back. "Settle down you," the plainer of the two said, with dark hair and a square face. "That's a lie," he then said to Ash. "Like you said, you don't do prisoners; why is the demon still alive?"

"I need him" Ash hissed. That was true enough, but likely not for the reasons the others would think of. She didn't know what she'd do without him frankly, she needed her soulmate
