I am NOT picky about the format. Edit as you wish. I also realize that some people have trouble pinning down a personality or a detailed background. Don't let that stop you. Develop the character as you go. But at least have enough so that anyone reading your CS will have some idea what you are like.

Images. Please no animated gifs. Avoid huge pics if you can. (There is a reason I put the whole CS blank in a spoiler.) Face Claims or good images will work. I prefer to see a detailed face. It is all about putting a face to a name.

Spoiler: Pennington Family

The Pennington family has its origins in the age of Piracy. But they set out with a letter of mark to hunt down pirates. That doesn’t mean they weren’t themselves pirates. But over time they legitimized the family name until its origins were forgotten. Their fortunes began in the days when Sugar drove the economy. They rose to great wealth during the era of the British Tea Company in the field of coal mining. Later it was oil and other minerals. In the wake of the fall of the Tea Company they invested in the transportation industry.

Josie’s Family followed her to America. Sir Walter soon began to enter the business world of mining. Rather than being blinded by precious metals, he sought to carve his niche in other minerals, such as those associated with fertilizers and explosives. He also invested in the railroads.

  Josie was the only daughter of a very wealthy entrepreneurial coal mine operator and the expansion into Africa. (The family once invested in the British Tea Company, but sold those assets before its fall.) She was doted on by her family, given private tutors, sent to the finest boarding school at age 16 and eventually Oxford at 18 - despite the university being the bastion of male dominance. In those days, women received little or no accreditation for their studies, not even allowed to take exams through the undergraduate level. But Josephine had attended for her own interests.
  
  Then Josie's father decided to marry her off to a very wealthy banker's son as part of the formation of a dynasty. The son, Jonathan Whittemore, was a snob and a real twit who expected Josie to never work a day in her life - not counting the children he wanted. She learned that his interest was in her family’s company. And he was jealous, possessive and cruel. He once had a man nearly beaten to death just for giving her a ride home. So she took the only sensible course of action she could take. She took a boat to America.
  
  Her suitor hired Pinkerton & Co (the predecessor to the famous agency) to track her down, claiming she had stolen from him - a set of jewelry worth a small fortune. Far from the truth he had presented it to her while trying to patch their relationship, still unable to take no for an answer. She had her own small fortune tucked away in the American banking system safe from family and suitors.
  
  She bought her horse, Anthracite, by trading the bejeweled necklace worth a few times what a horse should have cost. Then she departed for parts unknown, changing her name in the process.

  James is the younger of the two Pennington sons or Walter and Martha Pennington. The Pennington’s were one of the richest families of England. They began back in the days of the British India Company. But their father sold his stock before it crashed and re-invested in coal mining and the shipping industry. His father once gave control over a modest percentage of the company, but neither son did well. In fact, it was only their younger sister who did well. But Walter Pennington wanted a male heir.
  
  (Note: In this next part I actually got the dates wrong - by 10 years. But it makes for a good story, so I have kept it.)

  James had a chip on his shoulder and didn’t want to live in his father or older brother’s shadow. He took off for parts unknown, changed his name and joined the French Foreign Legion. There he fought in the Crimean Wars. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant. In a major bloody battle he lost a large part of his unit, and was wounded himself. The British and French had been allied in the fight against the Russians. He was awarded two medals in that fight for managing to take out the ammo supply of the Russians. The resulting explosion buried himself and his men. He was shipped back to France to recover.
  
  James suffered from what we call PTSD in the 21st century. He had charged through gunfire and cannon fire to get to the ammo dump. The explosion had rained debris and body parts on top of him. And he believed he lost every man in his unit, men he came to regard as brothers. He was eventually discharged, but took to drinking to drown the memories and stop the nightmares.
  
  He immigrated to the American West largely because he has a sister that ran off to America to flee an arranged marriage.

  Born in what we know today as Lithuania to moderately wealthy "businessman" (what would become known during the era of the Soviet Union as Thief in Law - or Russian Mafia). Her father tried to send her to Germany as a trade concession at age 16, but she rebelled. Already well schooled despite her father's every effort to keep her uneducated she agreed to go to Germany if she was permitted to attend a university first and complete her studies before being forced to marry. She confessed an interest in veterinary medicine.
  
  Her fiance, Johann von Grossenburg, refused any financial obligations until he was married, so a standoff resulted. While she attended college her family's fortune began to dwindle. Her father had been counting on the union to legitimize the family fortune. What he didn't know was that the baron was a bastard son of a Baron and was making do on a hush fund from his father. But the man had agreed to a sizable estate holding if he could secure a wife of fine upbringing and estate.
  
  Kasey soon found her only avenue of escape was to America. Enraged, the Baron followed. Already a skilled marksman and swordsman, the Baron has turned gunslinger in pursuit of his future wife. He'll kill any man who gets in his way and has taken very well to the way of the West. He will lie and cheat as needed, though he wants very much to appear honorable - so he has his limits.
  
  In her travels Kasey has endured considerable hardships. But perhaps her hardest trial was when she was taken in by the Apache. She had been recognized from her efforts to aid other Apache at a reservation. She also spent some time as a healer along the railroads as she worked her way west.
  
  When she set up her practice she hired three people:
  Isaac Freeman, a black man hired more for his ability to move weight. But he also has a modest skill as a blacksmith and can shoe a horse.
  Johnny Crazy Horse, Apache halfbreed. Good with horses. Needed a job.
  Shane Lee (Xiang Li) - Chinese man, barely trained as a nurse / assistant. Mostly he helps her by holding patients still if they are human.

An ancient looking duster, well worn and just slightly showing signs of damage from under maintenance. A heavily modified pistol belt and holster, perfectly made for quickdrawing.

  General Skill Set: Skilled in gun use and maintenance, Sister has ample experience fixing a gun when supplies are low(or non-existant). Sister takes pride in his quickdrawing capability, having created his own belt and holster. Using these skills, he's had to kill well over two dozen men that were after his head.

  A kind man at heart that has had to build a set of armor to protect it from all the pain he's endured, Sister is a hard man to get to know, but despite that is an easy one to talk to. He's always willing to lend an ear to those around him, whether they be long time compatriots, or simply two ships passing in the night.
  
  Quirks: Jumps violently at loud, sudden noises. Shakes terribly during thunderstorms.
  
  Likes: His horse Sinon, good honest folk of any variety, a nice hot meal, and not having to run for his life.
  
  Dislikes: Despises plantation owners, Military Officers of any variety, and just about any sort of "high and mighty bastard". Despises turncoats and deserters. Hates being in basements, but this is mostly just bitching on his part.

  Born the eldest son of five to a poor farmer and a school teacher, Sister knew from birth that his destiny lay with the soil. He spent his whole life working towards the goal of one day taking over his father's farm, and when the day came that his father could no longer work, he threw himself into the work with gusto. However, all his troubles would start only a few months later, when those rich bastards down in Charleston started it. The "Civil" War. Sister believed that whoever came up with the term "Civil" to describe the kind of thing he experienced deserved to get shot.
  
  Regardless of his own thoughts and opinions on the matter, Sister still went to war. Not because he really wanted to(let alone believed in the cause), but because he feared what would happen to him and his family if he didn't. So, he left his younger brother Agamemnon, "Aggie", to watch over the farm and help their father.
  
  Little did Sister know that the next four years of his life would be a living Hell. Marching from battle to battle, eating nothing but molding hardtack and shoe leather bacon, and getting to watch as boys and men he had grown to trust and depend on die before his eyes. One of the few things that kept him sane were the letters he received from his family, but after three years they would stop arriving, Sister believing that they had simply given up on him ever coming home. He knew he had.
  
  But, the day finally came. Robert E. Lee surrendered. So, he took his pardon, and left for home. But instead of the thriving farm he had been expecting, all he found was a burnt out shell of a building, blackened fields, dozens of dead animals, and the charred remains of half a dozen people. Two adults, and four children. Broken, he went to town and began asking around, trying to find out what had happened, until finally, a family friend told him. The local plantation owner, one Jebidiah Wilkinson IV, had his son, Jebidiah V join with the Confederate Army as a colonel, his position bought with money made off the backs of over a hundred slaves, only the craven son of a bitch to turn coat and come running home as quick as he could first chance he got, right in the middle of Gettysburg. But poor little Aggie, he saw the turncoat and that turncoat bastard saw him, and upon getting home, told his father that the Kaine boy had seen him.
  
  Fearing Aggie would report his son to the Army, Wilkinson had his men burn the house down, and kill all the occupants. This was all blamed on a group of raiding union soldiers, or a band of confederate deserters. The family could barely stick to one story, but it hardly mattered. People believed them. That is, until the war ended. Wilkinson, in all his horrid little cleverness, posed as a secret ally of the Union the entire time, claiming to have been actively working against the confederacy in the area the whole length of the war. His main evidence being the destruction of "a group of slave catchers who had set up shop in an old abandoned farm". Anyone from the area knew what a crock of shit that was, but the Union officers lapped it up, thanking their lucky stars they had such a good "friend" there the whole time.
  
  His fury ignited, Sister went to the plantation, and killed every white person he could damn well find in that shit hole. Every man, from the lowest to the highest, be they man, woman, or child, it didn't matter to Sister, just as it hadn't mattered to them when they killed his family. Not a single black person got in his vengeful way. They simply watched, likely with a fair bit of amusement at the irony that had now come to fall on the Wilkinsons.
  
  After the deed was done, he left, taking what he had and traveling west, knowing he was likely to become a wanted man for what he did, reported by those he'd left alive. After all, it's what Sister would have done in their place.

  Sister's horse is Sinon, a Conneticut-bred Morgan gelding that was gifted to him by his commanding officer for saving the man's life in battle.
