Krauss - The Specialist
Location: Max Security Prison

Krauss had his arms crossed during this whole time. Since he got into the prison park, there was a good 45 minutes interval until another vehicle started to approach. During this time, he had not even reached for his cellphone. He just stood there, almost robotically, waiting for the others to arrive. As the vehicle approached, the blonde man couldn’t help, but notice the way that vehicle was being driven: moving from side to side, shaking back and forth because of the constant shifting into the wrong gears, made the blonde man raise his eyebrow - “Shouldn’t Eagle-sama at least be sure whoever is driving has a licence to do so?” - the question echoed in his mind. Either that was it or the driver was clearly under the influence of alcohol or another kind of drug, which clearly removed all their good sense.

When the vehicle came to a stop, a ( Slav Slav ) man got out of it first. The Specialist stared at him, from head to toe, analysing him. It was a man shorter than himself, black haired and with a curious mutation in his eye. When passing through him, the x-shaped-pupil man made a snarky remark, which was met with nothing, but his eyes accompanying him. Was he the leader of the group? It was difficult to tell. But Hofstadter assumed so, after all, he was the first to get out of the car, and made his way to talk with the police sergeant. The Specialist refrained to make any judgement of his person in that first moment, focusing his attention on what really mattered: Magma.

His eyes were fixed on the criminal, the index of his right hand started to itch, which his thumb scratched by instinct. How easy would it be to just draw his gun and put a bullet between his eyes, but no one said anything would be easy. Assuming he would simply join the others, in the car that was being dangerously driven, the blonde shooter took his first step, when he clearly saw something flying in Magma’s direction. Following, he saw it was an arrow, paying attention to the most crucial thing on that very moment: its trajectory. Positioning himself behind his own car for cover, his right hand quickly made his way to inside his blazer, drawing his revolver. His thumb moved, by instinct, basically making the same scratching movement done previously, but his time, it turned off the safety of his firearm.

Not much after, he heard sounds of gunfire. By how loud each shot resounded, Krauss assumed that those were police issued revolvers and, taking a peek at it, so he was correct. A gem encrusted shape simply advanced, without a care in the world. He was attempted to potshot him, but saw the other rounds were simply ricocheting off him, and he sure wasn’t willing to find out if his revolver calibre was enough to penetrate that bulletproof criminal. Whoever was firing the arrows, however, had to be his target.

Bringing his left hand to his googles, he began to inspect every advantage point. As he looked, one by one, while his left hand adjusted the range his googles were set to. First, his attention was set on a building, to the left of the prison yard, from where he was. With the constant barrage of arrows, it wouldn’t be hard for him to identify if that was the archer’s position. His eyes quickly scanned the windows in front of the building, then the rooftop, noticing no suspicious movements or the archer anywhere to be seen. His attention shifted to a mobile tower nearby.

The towering structure had few divisions, which could be used as scaffolding. Only his right eye peeked from the corner of his car. His eye scanned, division by division, trying to find any suspicious movement. Suddenly, something caught his attention, just behind one of the antennas. A slightly anomalous movement, something that clearly shouldn’t be there, clearly was. His hand quickly adjusted the information he was receiving from his targeting googles. The visible parts of the archer were being highlighted by it. The corner of his visor indicated the distance between Krauss and it: 1010 meters - “Tsk…” - he clicked his tongue in annoyance. By a mere 10 meters, he couldn’t take the shot using his quirk. On top of that, it was unlikely his revolver rounds would reach a target that far, even if he compensated for the drop.

“10 meters… I can’t be in the open, since I have no idea if there is a second archer. Mmmm?” - he looked at the distance and saw there were a few downed officers a few meters off him. By his calculations, they were about 15 meters closer to the shooter than he was. Plus, until the pile of bodies, there were a few closer to him - “Tsk… the Japanese and their improper stature” - he really disliked what he was about to do. His professionalism alerted him that it was a bad idea. But wouldn’t it be even worse if he were the only survivor of his first mission for Eagle’s Agency? Would that talk more about himself or his colleagues. Pushing this thoughts aside, The Specialist put his plan into action. Still in a crouched position, he started to rush towards the archer.

One, two, three, four, five: after five steps, his left hand swept the ground, grabbing one of the dead officers. His arm slid between the straps of the bulletproof vest and the body, bringing it in front of him as a shield. He was glad the officer in question weighted only around 60 kilos, which made it not strenuous to hold with just one arm. Six, seven, eight, nine, ten: the arrows flews in a flurry towards him, hitting the body he was holding and grazing his sides. Krauss could heard those arrows passing near him, each one closer and closer to announce his own death. Eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen: 997 meters - “Good enough” - he threw himself sideways, towards the pile of bodies. His targeting googles closed on exactly what he wanted: the archer’s head. A loud, screeching sound left the barrel of his revolver. A bolt of pure, white energy shot towards the archer at incredible speed - “Auf wiedersehen, herr archer” - he only saw a cloud of red, before hitting the ground and being covered by corpses. If there was another archer, and they had a clear view of him, he would be effectively pinned down.

"I can do that...But maybe you should take the alcohol home before Ichiro touches it..." she turned and looked at Tsukuyomi with a gentle but firm nod before moving to her office door "Let's go and maybe grab tea from the cafeteria..." pulling her door open, she stepped out and into the hall where she noticed Jin walking by. Guess he was either done, or taking a break from the office work. Just as she was about to head her own direction, she noticed someone from the lower floor rushing up the stairs and down the hall toward her in almost a panic as Jin vanished up the stairs. Katherine became curious as the person suddenly stopped in front of her "Nexette!" he called, leaning down on his knees and out of breath. Just how many floors did he run up? Is he new? Did he...Not know we have an elevator...? she wondered as she spoke "What's wrong...? Why are you in such a hurry...A panic even...?" she asked as the man stood straight and looked at her.

"We just had a serious call come in! There a Bank in Downtown Tokyo that's being robbed! This one is serious. I didn't bother to try calling you on the phone because it would have been faster to find you on this floor...Or someone at the very least."

The woman just kinda stared at him "You...Do realize we have intercoms too, right...?" she asked as she lifted a finger and aimed it toward the ceiling where a round speaker was embedded. It was kind of obvious that he had to be a new office agent on the lower levels. Poor guy ran for nothing. His face turned red, but Katherine seemed to not really care "A bank in downtown Tokyo is being robbed...Is that it?" she asked, her gaze seeming very blank as usual, but if anyone locked eyes with her, they'd see what she was feeling. "It's more than just a robbery. Apparently there's been gunshots inside and there's hostages according to the police that called in. We're still receiving updates as we speak, Ma'am."

Katherine just stared at him for a moment and then firmly nodded "Go back down, keep getting those updates..." she then turned toward Tsuki who was starting to step out and she held her hand out, pushing him back in "Get on my phone and use the intercom with the code #212. Tell the remaining Heroes here that we're going to need a few agents for this... Hostage situation at a bank in downtown Tokyo. Meet in the garage. I'm going to get the exact location..." the reason why she has Tsuki go on ahead and announce it was because he had more emotion to his voice than she usually did, plus he was far louder than she was. After that, she jogged off and to the elevator where she took it down to one of the lower floors to retrieve the address and name of the bank, from there she headed to the garage with a set of keys. It took a while, but eventually the agents finally made it and piled into the car, to which she explained along the way that there was a Hostage situation followed by a robbery. Warnings to take extreme caution were made, and to not barge into the building till they obtained enough information from the officers that were already at the scene and blocking everything up.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

After finally arriving at the scene, she made sure everyone had an earpiece and that everyone was ready before they all piled out of the vehicle. Nexette observed the building and then shifted her gaze to the officers that were behind the cars with their guns pointed at the building. Looking for the Chief, she rushed over to him, asking for the information he had on the situation. He informed her that from the snipers they had in higher buildings, they caught sight of someone wrapped in bombs, his finger on a trigger. A dead man's switch...Dammit that's going to be hard to do...Especially since I don't have direct line of sight or am close enough to create a barrier to prevent the explosion from hurting whoever's inside and the building from collapsing... this was a rough one indeed... She was then informed there were already casualties "Are you kidding me...? Already...? Who's trying to be a hero on the inside..?" she murmured before thanking the cop and returning to her team. To which she explained the dead mans switch, expressing caution once again, and they were going to work on a plan to get inside.

"Is there any other ideas that we'd like to try? We cannot be spotted if we go inside...or else the building, hostages, and us go with that bomb..."

Tatsuo hobbled out their vehicle like someone fresh off the boat, blinking several times before regaining composure. "I hope that made you happy, Ichiro," she remarked. The last time she felt carsick (aside from the other times Nakano was given the car keys) was in her childhood, crying as her father drove in circles in a convoluted parking lot to the sound of her mother's angered yelling. A memory she would rather have not relived.

Bringing her eyes forward, there was a foreigner at the gate; she presumed him to be Gao's fill-in after the elder's departure. She planned to greet him later, though, prioritizing two things first and foremost. The first, being in the trunk of their company vehicle, where she packed varying blocks of wood and a firm case containing a traditional Japanese drink set. Humming, she carefully set up a kamidana shrine in the back, occasionally nudging a few pieces by centimetres into perfect position. Coming from the same case was a round, pristine mirror with a separate wooden stand (reference), which she placed in the center.

Finally, she backed away from the miniature shrine. Bow twice, clap twice, bow once. The mirror glowed white.

As for the next thing... Tatsuo's gaze sharpened once Magma was brought out the front. She'd intended to ask the villain, if during his years behind bars, he thought enough to regret his actions. If he regretted killing those he did. If the faces of those who suffered by his hand appeared in his dreams, keeping him awake and restless. Anything that could have possibly redeemed himself in the face of the kami.

But that opportunity never arrived.

The moment an arrow tore through the air, and Ichiro pushed himself and Magma out of the way, Tatsuo's instincts took over and she glanced to whoever was closest to her: the rest of the heroes, Charlie, Katayama, and Nakano. She dashed to each of them, grabbing their arms—or at least tugging them in the brief seconds—towards cover behind the array of vehicles. The situation around them escalated as officers fell and bullets flew forth, bouncing off a bejeweled Quirk-user. Peering cautiously through the car window, the shrine-maiden bit her thumb, gradually sorting the abrupt attack in her mind. Truthfully, she expected a transportation without incident; and if any, an incident that was easily dealt with.

"Someone needs to locate the archer if we are going to take down Mr. 50 cent over there, we can't fight in the open with the archer bombarding us."

She ducked back down, breathing through her nose and out her mouth. The reality set in with Ichiro's message, and Tatsuo switched mindsets. "Perhaps if we—" She held her tongue as the blond man from earlier leaped out of cover. Arrows flew around him, inching closer with each impact. But, with one shot from his revolver and the aid of his Quirk, a blast of red spewed, and the arrow fire stopped. "The foreigner has it covered," Tatsuo simply said. She made a note to thank the blond man later.

Now, it was her turn. Flying from the kamidana she set up earlier, ten orbs of the kami followed Tatsuo, hovering by her head. She tapped her earpiece. "I'm going to blind the bejeweled man. If you any of you wish to pile on and erode him..." Three of the kami conjoined, thinning into a curved shape, glowing yellow before forming into a traditional bow. Another morphed into a hamaya ("evil-destroying arrow"). Tatsuo rose from cover, drawing the bowstring. "Then now is the time." The arrow flew forth, bursting into a flash of light in front of the attacker. Several kami emerged from the arrow, latching onto him and making his movement much sluggier than before.

A low whistle left a certain albino’s form, him and several others watching mindlessly the scene that unfolded in front of them. “... Wow. Well, then I guess that means production’s postponed, huh?”

Several seconds of silence passed save for the sound of hurried footsteps and an ambulance’s engine. Not too long ago, Senjougahara Shinobu was in the middle of filming a shot for a commercial; not something he really expected to be sent off to during his first day at the agency, but a task he welcomed, nonetheless. While doing the fifth or so take, though, one of the light fixtures from above came loose and ended up injuring the actress he was co-starring with, which is why she was currently being rolled into the ambulance on a stretcher while everyone else saw her off.

Could he have done something about it? Probably, except when it happened he’d just left to the opposite side of the set to get a donut. Maybe he’d make it up to her later…

“It’s a shame, but yes… It’d be better off if we waited for her to recover to continue. Should be a week at the latest,” The director sighed, crossing his arms and turning to look at the hero. “Anyway, apologies if this inconveniences you, Samsara-san… Would you be able to return later this week? I’d like to keep working with you, but I’m not sure if it’s within your schedule.”

Shinobu gave him a close-eyed smile and a light hum, “Mmm, I’ll see what I can do—Can’t make any promises since…” He thought back to the incidents that have been happening as of late, notably the shooting that occurred most recently. “... Something might come up, and I might have to be there to help take care of it. You know the deal~”

The director nodded in agreement. “Naturally! Heroics come first, after all. I won’t keep you long, then, since I’m sure we both have places to be, but when you find out just give me a call. Hopefully AiAi-san will be all better by then.”

“Mhm, you got it. What's your number?”

──── &.

Entering the agency building, Shinobu shot reception a smile as a greeting and proceeded to the lounge area where he’d encounter another person, but he didn’t really say anything at first. Paperwork was pretty much out of the equation due to his inability to make out what some of the words were, and he didn’t exactly feel like squinting constantly just to try and make his vision a little bit better, either. Maybe he’d take this time to chill before he inevitably got bombarded with some other task once Eagle found out he was back. Slowly, he spoke up.

“Hmm… Are you new here, too? You give me rookie vibes!”

The quiet tapping noises from the other male typing on—was that a flip phone?—stopped as he averted his attention to Shinobu. “Kinda! I’m a transfer from another agency! Well— was. Apparently something happened and they can’t send me off just yet,” he explained. “Hehe. So I can’t go on the mission they just sent everyone out for. It seemed pretty crazy, too…”

As if on cue, a vibration caused his azure gaze to meet his phone. It seemed the other went back to typing, so Shinobu inserted an airpod in his left ear and let the contents of the text message play through (bnha takes place in the future right? i’d imagine by now airpod quality is better lmao). Essentially what it came down to was the details for a mission and instructions to go to the bank right away. Ah, so Eagle found out quicker than I thought he would. Would changing into my hero outfit take too long?

“Speaking of missions… Seems for my first, I’m filling in for you,” he stated casually. “And that group I’m supposed to be working with’s on their way now! So! I guess I should probably catch up. It was nice meeting you, former-fellow-E.A-rookie ~”

──── &.

Based on what he could gather, Shinobu didn’t arrive at the scene too late after the rest of his team did. When he was approaching the group, he could slightly make out their words about some of the new details regarding a dead man’s switch. The explosives just escalate the severity of this mess, huh? Fun. He nodded with an exaggerated thoughtful expression, acting like he’d been there the whole time as some kind of little joke inside his head. The lilac-haired woman explained how they’d need to somehow make their way inside. Hmm. Yes, yes, I see, I see. Mhm, yes, right… uh huh,

“Is there any other ideas that we’d like to try? We cannot be spotted if we go inside… or else the building, hostages, and us go with that bomb…”

For a moment, Shinobu raked through his thoughts. Of course, he was kinda familiar with these heroes in a superficial sense, having seen them through the media several times. First, there was Nexette, the one who just talked. From what he knew of her quirk, she’d be able to contain people if she needed to, right? There was also Springer, the rabbit hero who could probably reach places himself and the others would struggle to. Marionette… dealt with shadows? The extent of which Shinobu did not know, but it appeared versatile enough to do something now… then Phantasm with his water-based quirk might be able to restrain people with it…?

Ugh, he didn’t know as much as he wanted to. Probably would’ve been a good idea to study more on the way there or something, but instead he was too fixated on deciding between sunglasses or his blindfold (that, by the way, kinda acted like sunglasses cause the fabric was thin enough to see through. he just wanted more aesthetic options). Besides, regardless, the current problem was finding a way inside undetected.

“So, before that. Good morning! I don’t know if you guys were notified, but I’ll be joining in on the mission from here on,” Shinobu finally decided to greet the group, offering his playful salute. “Hero name, Samsara. It’s my first day here, so I hope to get to know the lot of you soon—” a light laugh. “—but enough about that. If it’s getting inside undetected, I can do something about it ~... Though, do we have any information about quirks they may have? The bomb is one thing, but no matter how you look at it those might make this way more annoying than it already is.”

Mr 50 Cent.. How old is he again?
Charlie couldn't help the unamused look on her features, trying to find out when 50 Cent had actually been relevant in the past five.. hell, even ten years.

It didn't really matter, because her thoughts had been interrupted by the blinding white light that the blonde stranger emitted from his gun. It seems that this nameless figure managed to stifle the archer, only leaving the absolute mammoth of a man in their path. Tatsuo wasted none of the time the weird goggle-man gave them, quickly rising and shooting another blinding white light directly at the gem-covered villain. Teal eyes blinked rapidly, quickly adjusting to the sudden change in lighting. There had to be a way for her to get to him, weaken the armor that his quirk seemed to create for him. Her gaze had been planted upwards towards the prison, slowly lowering until...

Bingo. She felt a little silly for not immediately seeking the electric fence as a resource, but now she had a chance to weaken the armor for her coworkers. Black hair swung as she swiftly looked back to Nakano and Katayama, who were crouching to her right behind one of the many vehicles around them. "I'm going to weaken him. You'll know when to strike." Her voice was low, so that only those on the shared coms could hear her words. "Tatsuo.. have the kami let them go. Just.. trust me on this." The young hero didn't give any of the others time to question her as she stood up, dusting off her dark wash jeans.

Still clad in a pink bomber jacket covered in patches, the seemingly unassuming woman stood up, an air of confidence surrounding her as the white light faded and only revealed smaller kami floating off of the gem-clad man. Once she was far enough away from the group, and closer to the electric fence, she began to activate her quirk, feeling the hairs on her skin rise.

"Hey, you! Looking for a fight, tough guy?" She grinned, hands coming out of her pockets balled into fists. Her normal appearance had shifted, black hair now lifted off of her shoulders, teal eyes completely glowing in a fluorescent blue. Haywire stood in a fighting stance, egging the guy on to charge at her, and, hopefully, run straight into the electric fence behind her.

A mischievous grin lit up her features, already cranking up the fence to the highest setting possible. "What? Fight off a couple bullets and now you're suddenly the shit?"

Apparently, that's all it took for the disoriented guy to charge at her. He seemed extremely out of focus, thanks to Tatsuo using her quirk to basically flashbang him. Charlie shifted her weight to the balls of her feet, counting down,

...and.... NOW! She thought to herself, tucking and rolling between the villain's legs. Wow, he actually fell for it.

It was an unforgiving sound, gems vibrating and clashing against each other at a rapid pace. Charlie kept herself out of the way, hiding behind a nearby vehicle whilst keeping her focus on the fence.

"That should help weaken his gems.." She huffed into the earpiece, keeping an eye on him to make sure he can't spot her. International law states that 10,000 volts is the highest that electric fences can go, so.. might as well go big or go home, right?

Gods forbid that Jin would be rewarded with the blissful prize of a hard earned break, his prize ripped away from him by the glaring voice over the intercom. All he wanted was a tranquil 5 minutes atop the rooftop devoid of the stress wrought from mountains upon mountains of paperwork, alas it was not to be as the cruel hands of faith had other plans today. Furred hands grasped tightly around the handle that held firm the door standing in between himself and the roof, the temptation to grasp, twist and push had almost consumed his entirety as he reluctantly battled against his present desire. Of course, he held firm and instead of succumbing to the temptation placed before him, Jin had instead merely sighed and sat down, his back pressed against the door as he listened to the glaringly loud voice over the intercom.

Code 212#, a hostage situation downtown presently taking place in a bank. Of course, all hands presently available were required and that included Jin. Jumping back to his feet, Jin had quickly made his way back down to his work area, the briefcase containing the various additions of his hero outfit being located underneath his desk. Once retrieved, it was a quick trip down to the garage where the others had already begun to gather; their designated driver being Kathy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The trip itself, at least for Jin had been pretty uneventful. As usual Jin had kept more to himself than the other heroes tended to; the rabbit hero spending the majority of the short trip with eyes closed and arms folded as he listened in to the various discussions going on. As most of his colleagues knew, Jin wasn't really the type to initiate much conversation. It was only once he became aware of their close proximity to the bank that Jin began to unlock his briefcase, the goggles, utility belt and gauntlets glistening against the small ray of light that lit the inside of the vehicle.
Arriving at the scene, Jin silently stepped out the van; placing the earpiece in his ear as he glanced around the area, until Nexette returned.
"Nexette, have the police mentioned any negotiations between the criminals?, Do we even have a motive? Have either side even attempted to communicate? " questioned Jin, as his eyes glanced at the newcomer that approached the group momentarily then back to Nexette. It seemed like Eagle had been on quite the recruitment spree recently, with all the new faces coming in, it wouldn't have surprised Jin if the agency were to franchise out and open another office elsewhere. That being said, Jin had taken it all in stride as he raised a hand and absentmindedly half ass pointed towards Samsara's direction.
"The newcomer makes a valid point. There is a severe lack of information and I'd rather not rush in blind. You've mentioned that there are casualties, so that already tells us that the villains are more then happy to shed blood. Any miss step could lead to more casualties" Jin lowered his hand and glanced in the direction of the bank, his breath steady as he surveyed the situation; ears perking up for any potential information that he could gather from merely listening.
"Do the police have a video feed of the inside? CCTV? Anything? Surely our only point of surveilance can't be the rooftop snipers" questioned Jin. "Troublesome as she may be, Charlie would have been ideal in this situation" he sighed to himself.
As he began to pick up his things, he sat there thinking to himself I guess today is going to be one of those days; boring and not eventful. He stands up and started walking towards the door. He was ready to just sit in his office and pretend to be busy for the rest of the day. As he approaches the doorway, he is greeted by a hand from, the one and only, Kathy. Without a clue of what is going on, Tsukuyomi moved his head out to the hallway and saw a nervous desk worker and Kathy standing there with a blank look on her face. Why is she just standing there I just want to go to my... "Get on my phone and use the intercom with the code #212. Tell the remaining Heroes here that we're going to need a few agents for this…” As she finishes explaining the situation, Marionette grabs the phone and immediately dials the code and with authority in his voice, he announces to all heroes in the build “Attention we have a bank robbery in progress all heroes report to dispatch I repeat…” The hero slams the phone on the desk and rushes to meet his comrades in the garage.
Once he got to the garage see use Kathy is already in the vehicle; ready to go. The only other person there was Jin. Obviously, who can outrun a fucking rabbit? As the rest of the heroes pile in the vehicle, Tsukuyomi sits in the front listening in about the situation. This mission seems like a normal hostage situation. It didn’t seem like there weren’t any huge red flags, besides the hostages.
When they got to their location, It seemed like the situation was more serious than Marionette thought. As everyone got out of the vehicle Tsukiyomi overheard Kathy talking to the chief of police. This isn’t looking good she doesn't seem like she's getting positive information. Bad news came to the team about a man with a bomb strapped to his chest. Already feeling like the situation got worse, Tsukuyomi begins to try to plan. The situation would have been less scary if we had a tech quirk. Where's Charlie when you need her.
"Is there any other ideas that we'd like to try? We cannot be spotted if we go inside...or else the building, hostages, and us go with that bomb..."
If it’s getting inside undetected, I can do something about it ~... Though, do we have any information about quirks they may have? “Glad that you are here with us,” He said in a monotone voice. Great, an enthusiastic person just what he needed. “Now with the situation at hand I'm not sure what quirks they have but I think we should focus on the hostages and that bomb.” "Do the police have a video feed of the inside? CCTV?” He explains that they don't have access to the cameras. He did know that the only thing between them and a successful mission: IS THAT BOMB
The car ride was an experience Masaru would never forget; he was close to vomiting out 450-yen worth of pastries. The landscape they passed would've been nice to look at if it didn’t feel like he was being thrown into a state of vertigo every second or so. Still, he held it in like a champ so he would keep his word, but had the opposite happen, he knew his co-workers would never let him live it down.
A clear blue sky draped over them; it was ridiculous to take it as a sign that things would go smoothly from here on out. He felt like there was more trouble, danger, on the way as he slowly emerged out of the agency vehicle. Right after Tatsuo’s comment, Masaru piped up when Nakano was out of earshot, all the while trying not to puke mid-sentence, “...Next time, I’d rather march to my death trying to reach our destination than hop inside a car where Sunotaiga’s the driver."
Regaining his balance and standing up straight, Masaru adjusted himself to his new surroundings; making sure he turned on his earpiece this time, linking him to the rest of the team. In the distance was a strange blonde figure, all adorned with fancy goggles and all sorts of auxiliary equipment that he couldn’t quite wrap his head around right at that second. There was no doubt that the trip to here disorientated him; he cut himself some slack, hopefully he’d make sense of everything as their mission goes on.
Naturally Masaru assumed that the foreign-looking man was a prison warden until he strode towards him with the rest of the group, noting Ichiro’s slick statement to the man, in which he didn’t seem provoked in the slightest. He seemed like he was a sensible person, not letting anything - Ichiro - discourage him from accomplishing his part in their escort. If the spectacled hero was the substitute for Gao, then Masaru wasn’t going to make any protests, even if the guy was someone, you’d spot in a 1900s European World’s Fair.
The brunet stood there silent as he observed his two seniors, Ichiro and Tatsuo while things gradually progressed, there wasn’t much he could do right now. The shrine-maiden was assembling what seemed to be a shrine, the setup was in every way more polished than anything he’d seen back home. He respectfully bowed his head, but he kept his eyes trained as she did a ritual, and by the end of it, a white light briefly encapsulated his senior’s frame. As for the drunk, he chatted away with a policeman, giving Masaru the opportunity to get yet another glimpse of Ichiro intermingling with the everyday person. At least he can be polite when he wants to be.
Out from the prison entrance was what they were supposed to ‘care for’ and what a sight for sore eyes it was. With a face that only a mother could love, Magma showed himself for all eyes to see. He could see evident displeasure spread across like wildfire amongst his co-workers just from the sight of the criminal, asides from the benevolent Miko and a few others.
Masaru himself leaned to a more negative standing with the prisoner from what he’s heard about the guy although the flame hero hoped that the marred villain’s time behind bars was doing him good; so, he stayed indifferent, not veering into a super judgmental stance compared to those who made their disgust towards Magma clear. He was sure that there was a lengthy story behind how the man ended up this way, but he wasted no time in brushing away the thoughts as he assisted Ichiro and the police sergeant in moving the ‘cargo’ into the truck.
'Whoosh~!'
An arrow!
Masaru instinctively spun sideways, just about sidestepping the projectile that seemed to have been meant for Magma. Before he could holler that they were being fired upon, things had already taken a frenzied turn. A turbulent scene unrolled right before him and he instantly glanced at Ichiro who had blood trickling down his face, and the policeman having taken a hit himself. Masaru looked anywhere up above, eyes frantically examining where the arrows were originating from.
It was at that moment that he took off his fire-snuffing gloves, stashing them in one of his pockets as he felt warmth gather in the center of his palms.
By the time things get really heated up, I’m prepared.
"Someone needs to locate the archer if we are going to take down Mr. 50 cent over there, we can't fight in the open with the archer bombarding us."
…What’s Mr. 50 Cent?
Regardless, he peeked out and saw the other troublemaker. Covered in glistening gemstones, a man entered their vicinity. Great. It’s like a costume bash, but it’s riddled with death. Before the second nuisance could be dealt with, they had to knock out the first. Quickly tweaking the volume, Masaru was going to reply that he would do it when he caught sight of their new addition responding to the change in their environment. Masaru guessed that the man was going to take care of that part. Nevertheless, he was going to help the guy out with the invisible archer problem, that is before he was pulled away by Tatsuo; a gentle hand intersecting with his, signaling that it wasn’t safe to stand here idle. His body moved on his own as he and a couple others followed her, running for cover.
Their position was brief as a brilliant flash of light encroached his vision, a crimson fountain following right after; that meant that at least one archer, hoping that there aren’t any more, was now out of their way. It was all thanks to the hero with the revolver. Suddenly, Tatsuo who was right next to him gracefully leapt away from her spot, mystical orbs hovering around her, "I'm going to blind the bejeweled man. If you any of you wish to pile on and erode him..." She spoke as he realized a bow was forming in her hands, "Then now is the time." He watched her aim true and strike right at the gem-covered assailant. As soon as it did, there was a visible, immediate effect.
“Great, Miko. Slowing him down was the right move,” he commended his co-worker in a hushed manner through the comms, keeping mind that it would be bad to draw attention to where he was at especially with them clustered up like this where they were collectively vulnerable. If they were just regular civilians their current placements would make it easy for the enemy to wipe them out in one fell swoop.
The kami’s supportive role didn’t last too long, as his fellow rookie Haywire thought up a different approach, "I'm going to weaken him. You'll know when to strike,” her eyes meeting his, travelling to the person next to him, Nakano, “Tatsuo.. have the kami let them go. Just.. trust me on this."
Masaru nodded in response, he already understood what was required of him when the tech-hero mentioned the two of them specifically, implying that he and Nakano would have to be the ones who’ll make direct contact with the quirk user. As Charlie’s last word escaped her mouth, his hands burst into flames, like a fickle bonfire coming to life. Distancing himself from the others so the fire won’t hop off into any of them, he could feel the familiar heat that meant it was time to throw some punches.
There was no real signal for him to carry out his part, but as he watched Charlie taunt the mass of gems and move away towards a deserted area, he simply bided his time; waiting like a snake for the right time to launch his attack. He hesitated for a second to go through with it, knowing that he could get caught in a dangerous cloud of electricity, but so long as he isn’t cornered into the fence –Stop being so antsy! This isn’t like you.
If Charlie said to trust her, then he just needed to do just that. He gave her the benefit of a doubt that she wouldn’t put any of her teammates in harm’s way, despite how defiant she could get. Plus, he knew he could get himself out of a tough spot, he just needed to get his head in the game and have confidence that his abilities would pull him through. This is to prove to Ichiro that he can hold his own.
As soon as he caught sight of even a single jolt of electricity, Masaru dashed out, a screeching sound pierced his ears and covered them for a moment with his elbows; an awkward stance to take on but considering his activated quirk he had no other option, still he kept his pace, jogging towards the gem-clad man. He got to a good distance from the electrocuted villain and gave it a minute before finally seeing most of the intense electrical charge dissipate. The gems really did seem like they’ve been weakened from the severe shock.
With a guttural cry, the flame hero ran towards his target. There wasn’t a need to make a complicated charge since the gem-clad man was incapacitated for the time being. Although just in case, he made a pattern to sway from side to side, running in a straight line could get him knocked down in a flash. As reckless as he could be, seeing up-close how sharp and hard those gems probably were, he assumed one punch from his opponent was not going to feel good at the slightest, so it was better to not underestimate his enemy no matter how much of an advantage he has right now.
Take this!
Adrenaline coursed through his veins, bolstering the size of his fiery fists comparable to an entire person’s skull. The gem-clad man’s defense was already significantly reduced from what it initially was, but he knew there was still more that could be done to penetrate through the quirk user’s gem coating. Masaru landed a quick right jab, followed by an immediate left hook, finishing with another right punch. He was getting to the interior, as pieces of his opponent’s armor was falling off. Beneath the thick fire covering his balled-up fists, which helped and served as a buffer from the self-inflicted damage he takes every punch he throws, he could see bruises starting to form.
Shaking his head, and engulfed in the heat of the moment, he pressed on. He started off another set with a right jab this time, sparkly pieces shooting off into the air, he shifted his weight so when a swift and powerful left hook was naturally set up right after he threw his right hand. He aimed the flurry of punches high at what he thought was his opponent’s jaw, making him stagger.
Shine.
Masaru was by no means a wrestler, but he’s executed it plenty of times before. He took a few steps back and ran as fast as he could, his eyes honing on his not so sure-footed enemy. At lightning-fast speed thanks to his head start, he slid feet first at his opponent, kicking the man with both of his feet. He skidded to a stop, moving out of the way as the gem-clad man fell over cause of gravity.
Now on the ground, the hero got up on one knee, inhaling from the pain of the impact his move caused. He coughed, drops of blood coming out of his mouth as he did, he cleared his throat and voice slightly strained he spoke into his earpiece, “Trust me, I have more to dish out for Kira-Kira here, but I don’t want to hog the spotlight,” pausing to cough once more, “Over to you, Sunotaiga.”
Just as Masaru finished saying his piece, it looked like the guy was getting up. He hurriedly stood back up, wincing slightly. Having an enemy absolutely lose it can work to their advantage, their rationality completely broken, causing them to trip up more often.
So he shouted as he wiped his bloodied lips with his black uniform, “What? You want to play some more big guy? Afraid to lose your precious little stones? There’s more where that came from!”
“Oh C’MON, it’s not like I was going THAT fast! And had I not passed through those red lights we wouldn’t have arrived here on time!” Nakano shot back at those who dared display their discontent with her chauffeuring skills, whether they showed it through words or their demeanor. Plus, the car yet remained in a single piece, this was undeniable proof that her driving performance matched that of any top of the line driver. Once out the vehicle the tiger hero pocketed the car’s keys inside her jacket, she was determined to continue her shenanigans after their jail visit was over and done with.
Shifting her gaze towards the massive containment facility before them, Nakano took note of a towering individual standing guard at the entrance, his blonde hair instantly raising a red flag as it basically placed the man within two possible categories: He was either a bleached haired punk or foreigner. Though, unless he was going through a midlife crisis, he’d definitely fall under the latter classification due to his appearance as a whole. This immediately placed the man within Nakano’s shitlist, for she felt a seething hatred towards all foreigner, regardless of their country of origin. Then again, what DOESN’T Nakano hate? (The answer is simple, the Elmo chair). To put her feeling into words: “Outsiders piss me off, they flaunt their wallets and inflated egos through the streets like they own the place. Worst part of it all is when they try to ask you questions in their own bizarre languages, DO THEY NOT UNDERSTAND WHERE THEY ARE!?”. Granted there have been plenty of foreigners that managed to get within Nakano’s good side, though it was always an uphill fight for them.
Speaking of detested individuals, Nakano quietly watched as Magma emerged from within the jail’s confines, accompanied by his own police escort. The tension in the air was palpable, and amongst some of the team members a thought was shared as they laid their eyes on the villain: The world would be better off without him. Nakano was amongst said members, the mere thought of this bastard simply living off while the sons and daughters of his victims continued to mourn the passing of their deceased parents was enough to boil Sunotaiga’s blood to temperatures higher than anything Magma could ever conjure. The only things keeping her from charging at him right there and then was his quirk and the presence of the police, the last thing she needed was to enter the jail that stood in front of her as a convict.
Woosh-!
Without having a say in the matter Nakano’s body was shoved down to the ground, courtesy of her animalistic instincts, despite the fact that the first arrow was aimed nowhere near her. The sight of the officer Ichiro had been talking to slumping over as the projectile pierced his torso was the final push the tiger girl needed to snap. Nakano was seeing red as her eyes darted around the perimeter in search of the culprit, she was yet again out for blood. “WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU, COME OUT SO I CAN K-GRK!” Her demands were cut short as someone tugged at the back of her jacket & shirt’s collars, swiftly dragging the problematic hero towards safety. Her nonconsensual savior was Tatsuo, she had managed to rescue Nakano at just the nick of time too, as a volley of fires suddenly descended upon the convoy. The tiger girl was ready to reprimand the shrine maiden with hostility due to her action, though before she could do so Ichiro took the microphone:
"Someone needs to locate the archer if we are going to take down Mr. 50 cent over there, we can't fight in the open with the archer bombarding us."
Despite how revolting he was Ichiro was right, attempting to engage the diamond-clad quirk user at that very moment was as good as suicide. But it wasn’t like there was much else to do, how the hell would they be able to engage someone with that aim from that far without getting ki-Oh hey the foreigner just dealt with that situation by himself. Seeing how he was an outsider he’d for sure gloat about it later, at which point Nakano would gladly give him a proper welcome to Japan in her own little way. But that was for later, now they needed to act. Tatsuo kicked things into full gear by commencing the counterattack with a perfectly placed blind onto the diamond lad, which was immediately followed by Charlie's bullfighting strategy against the aggressor. "At least she isn’t entirely useless in a fight." Those two had set the stage, it was now time to begin the play. Masaru took charge of the initial contact, making the tiger girl exhale in frustration a small piece of her soul as she witnessed his quirk’s reveal. Why was it that fire always seemed to find her wherever she went. Regardless, the male rookie fought on with a certain grace, a staple of most martial arts. It was almost like a dance of sorts. His coup de grace had enough power behind it to knock over the hulking assailant to the ground, though it did come at a noticeable cost.
“Trust me, I have more to dish out for Kira-Kira here, but I don’t want to hog the spotlight, over to you, Sunotaiga(...)"
Nakano approached and placed a hand on the newbie’s shoulder, greeting him with a somewhat smug smirk. “Hah, not bad, rookie. Masaru, was it? Color me surprised, you do have a spine after all.” With those words of "encouragement" out of the way the tiger girl turned back to face the senior that had started it all. “Oi Tatsuo, take care of him, will ya? I am about to get busy over here.”
Unlike the majority of her peers Nakano had never been one to develop her fighting style towards the more “elegant” side of things. It just didn’t fit her personality, she lacked the patience for it. Still, mistaking her for a mindless brute was something many of her opponents had paid dearly for, and Nakano was just about ready to show off what she was capable of. The fight began as the tiger girl ran straight at her opponent, just like a bullet she never once diverted from her set path. By now “Mr 50 cent” had had more than enough time to regain enough of his composure to answer the tiger girl’s challenge with his own strength. Both forces clashed with resounding force, their hands interlacing as they attempted to get the upper hand on one another. An unstoppable force versus an unmovable object. What appeared to be a stalemate of pure strength was broken as the tiger girl took the initiative by pulling back her head and driving it with her full might right onto her opponent’s own. The clash wasn’t kind towards either of the parties, who had now let go of each other: The diamond culprit had fallen onto his back while a nasty gash had opened up on Nakano’s forehead, slowly trailing blood down her face. Things were far from over however, taking advantage of her opponent’s vulnerable state Nakano pounced on top of him and commenced a savage barrage of punches aimed right at his head. With each swing Nakano felt as her knuckles strained due to “Mr 50 Cent”’s sheer durability, it was like hitting an iron wall. Despite the slowly creeping pain her hands were being subjected to Nakano knew she needed to strike while the iron was still hot, if he perished as a result then so be it. Left hook. Right hook. Left hook. Right hook. Left hook. Right hook(...)
► Ugetsu Minase [PHANTASM]
As the loudspeaker in the office shrieked to life, Ugetsu tore his attention away from the newbie to the upper corner that it was located in. The announcement detailed a bank robbery, to which the blue-haired male raised a brow. Nevertheless, he promptly said his goodbyes and headed down to the parking garage as instructed.
Once on scene, what greeted them was none other than chaos. For a simple bank robbery, too many complications had cropped up at once, namely the presence of a bomb.
“Suicide bombing for a simple bank robbery…”
Ugetsu mused with a sigh,
“Are you sure there isn’t more to this?”
It wasn’t like bombs amidst a hostage crisis were rare in their line of work. A dead man’s switch, however, was quite extreme and made things far more difficult.
Maybe it’s a ruse. However, Ugetsu kept that thought to himself. It was best not to voice baseless assumptions.
Without a visualization of the situation inside, access to CCTVs, or much else to work off of, the white-haired man, Samsara’s, suggestion of sneaking them in with his quirk was the most they could work off of at the moment. However, like Nexette mentioned, the bomber was likely to shoot themselves and detonate the bombs the moment they spot a hero. To head in without much of a plan would be deadly.
“Any chance we could at least get a rough layout of the bank?”
Ugetsu mentioned while tapping at his smartwatch.
“Aside from suicide, there’s always the possibility of an accomplice and remote access, so it seems like our best bet is getting Nexette close enough to contain the bomb. If we can trigger the fire alarm and sprinklers, I could deal with the bomb from afar, but I doubt we want to cause unnecessary alarm considering the volatile situation.”
The good news just came in. They broke through the safe. "Collect as much cash as you can and head to the exit point. I don't want to make any unnecessary risks." The masked figure finished his cigarette, tossing it on the ground and grinding it under his shoe. He turned to Akira who still had his thumb on the deadman's switch, "Are you sure you are up to do this? I'm not by any means going to force you to do it. We have other contingency plans in place." Akira turned to his boss, shaking a bit from the pressure, "They took everything from me. If heroes didn't exist, I would still have my family." Akira looked out towards the vehicles and crowd that had gathered outside. This was the only way he could guarantee that his compatriots got away.
The boss walked into the back and saw that most the bags were filled, "Open up the sewer access now, we are racing against the clock." In one of the rooms in the back of the bank contained all the piping and a small hatch that led down to the sewers below. Usually, it was locked tight but they had an insider unlock it the day before. The boss walked over to the room and lifted the hatch, he started tossing the bags of cash down the opening, "Luckily these bags are waterproof or the cash would smell like shit." While the bags were starting to make there way down the hatch, Akira had an important task.
Akira stood up front, nodding to his compatriots as they made there way to the rear of the building. He took in a deep breath as he stepped toward the front door with an increasingly quick pace. He slammed the front door open and rushed down the steps, trying to get a bit closer to the emergency vehicles. "See you all in hell." Akira let his finger off the trigger and what followed was an explosion. The building trembled from the blast, the front windows shattering due to the explosion. The civilians who were inside had a wave of glass sent towards them but many were left unscathed. They couldn't say the same about their ears.
When the building shook, the boss turned to his compatriots and started ushering them towards the hatch. "This is the only chance we have before the heroes are back on their feet." The sprinkler system was going off in the building along with the fire alarm. This complicated things in a few ways. The water was pouring down the hatch, making it harder to climb down. Once everybody was down the hatch, he tried to move the hatch to start closing it but the hinges were stuck. "Fuck, we don't have enough time." The boss started his climb down but ended up slipping, landing at the bottom with a thud. He got up but every time he moved, he ended up limping. "Let's go, we gotta keep moving."
The archer was caught off guard by Krauss's shot, the round landing on the edge of the building, making her stumble back. She dropped her bow, getting slow to get back up. By the time she got her eyes back on the situation, her ally was getting pummeled. "This isn't good." Many of her arrows rolled off the building after her fall but she had two left and she needed to make them count. She pulled the string back, an arrow notched searching for a target. She caught a maid-looking girl in her sights, ripe for the picking. She needed to alleviate the pressure on her ally. She held her breath and let the arrow go, notching another to quickly find a different target. Her sight landed on a young man with a red band on his head. She let the arrow go and immediately started moving, not wanting another shot to take her leg off. Her allies were just going to have to do their best now.
50 cent took the beating from Nakano, the shock of energy taking the most out of him. He raised his fists, slamming Nakano's head in between his fists to disorient her. He then kicked her off to get some breathing room. 50 cent slowly got up, the fight being far from over. When he fully stood up, some of his gems fell off his body, obviously taking some damage from their barrage of attacks. I'm not sure how long I can last with these attacks. 50 cent let out a large sigh and started to approach Nakano. "You really have to work on your fighting words." He remarked to Katayama as he stood over her to continue his attack. If he was going to make it out of this in one piece, he needed to take someone out.
Ichiro watched it all unfold, unsure of what to do. The last thing he wanted to do was leave Magma alone but they surely needed his help out there. "What the fuck do I do?".Before he could even give himself an answer, he turned his body, sticking his hand out. He stopped a blade from reaching Magma's neck, the attacker slowly shifting into view. If it weren't for his quirk, he would have never responded to the attack in time,"No honor in fighting anymore." Ichiro kicked the now revealed attacker, causing him to take his eyes off Magma.
The kick gave him some distance, the attacker thrusting the knife towards him. Ichiro side stepped, allowing the attackers blade to move past him. He attempted to wrestle the knife from the attacker but they were able to keep their hold on it."People need to learn manners." He adjusted his hold on the assailant to begin pulling on their arm in the opposite direction. With all of his might, he pulled, causing the arm to snap. The massive yell of pain gave Ichiro the upper hand now. He took the knife from the assailant and threw them against the vehicle. There attempts to stop Ichiro now were futile, as Ichiro slammed the assailants head against the armored truck, knocking them unconscious.
He held the knife in his hand as he moved to where Magma had been to check on his status. Ichiro's eyes widened at the sight he saw. Nobutoshi had been killed by Magma and he had managed to get the contraction stopping him from using his quirk off of his face. A small trickle of lava was dripping from his mouth, melting the restraints that kept him from moving his arms. "One second earlier and you would have saved this pig. Heroes like you only get people killed." Ichiro was still standing in disbelief as the words Magma spoke hit him. Ichiro spoke into his ear piece,"Magma is free."
CODE / ARKNIGHT
Krauss - The Specialist
Location: Max Security Prison
Without a compass, the soldier knows no disgrace
The putrid iron-like odour filled Krauss’ nostrils to the brim, along with the smell of other unmentionable fluids. Most would surely lose whatever contents their stomachs were holding if they took in that repugnant smell. But not him. The blonde foreigner was no stranger to the scent of death and, by that point, paid it no mind. His ears sharpened, trying to pick up on the earlier shrilling sound of oblivion. He took his time, 1, 2 and, finally, 3 minutes passing by. The only thing his ears detected was someone talking, rather loudly he would add, that appeared to be some kind of taunting. With no dying shrieks being noticed, the Specialist moved the bodies from the top of him, pushing them away with the side of his arm. Slowly getting up, his gaze was attracted by a ( leviohsa leviohsa ) punk-looking, black-haired girl, appearing to be egging on the million-euro man to attack her.
The man took his first step towards both fighters, noticing an unusual weight being carried by him. Looking down on his hands, he saw his revolver, firmly being held by his right held. On his left, it was a slight surprise that his make shift shield was still being carried on it. Out of pure curiosity, he brought his left arm closer, taking a look at the front of his shield. It looked like a pincushion, numerous arrows sticking out of its chest, arms, legs. A syrupy, crimson liquid slowly dripped from them. The arrows themselves staunched the flow of said liquid, letting only small quantities escape from them at each given time. By its uniform, it looked like he was wrong: it wasn’t a police officer, it was a prison guard. The German’s gaze shifted towards its face. It was interesting how it was free from any damage, being intact.
It looked like its beard was made in a make-shift manner, without much care. Small bits of hair being seen here and there. Its face was pretty unremarkable, nothing unique would made it stand in a crowd. By the looks of it, it was not older than 22. It sported a slim figure, once again for Krauss own luck. Changing their target, his eyes focused on its left hand. On its annular finger, there was a small, insignificant and cheap-looking golden-coloured loop around it. He tilted his hand for a moment, his eye drawn to the object for a mysterious reason - “Mmmm” - an inquisitive formed in his throat. It was then discarded to the side, thrown without care as one do with an empty can or a rice ball wrap, producing a heavy thump when it hit the ground, face upwards. How would the young boy of the past see the now realized ‘hero’ of today?
His attention was then drawn to himself. Looking down at his suit, he noticed it was ruined: dirt and dust permeated it, all because of the filthy, unswept and otherwise disgusting concreted-floor. To make things worse, reddish spots of a slimy liquid made it stick even further to his clothing, mainly his blazer, ruining its fine hand-sewn textile. His left eyebrow twitched, his face lost, for a split-second, its composure. His, now free, left hand quickly shifted towards the blazer, in a vain attempt to wipe-off the filth from it. It didn’t matter how much he tried to pat the stains, it made little difference. He raised his head, seeing the play in front of him had a change of scene.
The black-haired, punk-looking girl now stood on the side lines. A kneeling, ( Itsui Itsui ) brunette boy appearing to be coughing was just in front of the fallen million-euro man. It looked like the group that came along with the ( Slav Slav ) x-shaped-pupils man had dealt with the second threat. In the next few seconds, it would be demonstrated that Krauss was wrong. The criminal slowly got up, while the brunette boy was tagged out, with a tap on his shoulder, by a... ( Servant Servant ) cat-looking girl? The man tilted his head forward, his left hand making its way to the bridge of his nose. His extended middle finger would bring down his glasses slightly, wanted to check with his own eyes if he wasn’t imagining things. Just the idea of getting that fur, real or fake, on his fine-tailored clothing irked him to no end. It seems the German ought to invest in some pet hair removal brushes. And finally, looking a bit further into the sideline, he saw a really exquisite character: a ( AriAriAbabwa AriAriAbabwa ) female with a cutesy dress. It looked like Eagle allowed quite a few cosplayers to work in his agency. What benefits they brought was a mystery to the Specialist. When his middle finger moved from the googles, releasing them, they snapped back into place.
His legs started moving, his steps echoing each time the sole of his black Italian shoes met with the hard, concreted ground. He watched the kitty and the million-euro man with slight interest. With his index finger in the guard of the revolver, between it and the trigger, he twirled it with great ease. To his surprise, he heard the shrilling sound once more, two times, in quick succession. The arrows flew towards both the brunette boy and the girl in the cutesy dress - “Tsk!” - Krauss cursed himself under his breath. By the angle the arrows flew, he failed to dispatch the archer to the afterlife. Quickly turning around, his gaze was set upon the tower once again. As much as the shooter strained his eyes, changing the view range of his targeting googles, he couldn’t pick up anyone there.
The sudden banging of the metal attracted his attention somewhere else, far from the quartet and the million-euro man and the tower. It looked like an unknown assailant had managed to sneak past the few police officers who were alive, the agents, and had some sort of kerfuffle with the x-shaped-pupil man. The banging was the head of said assailant being smashed against the van. About the van… something was amiss. The Specialist’s eyes picked something that, simply, shouldn’t be picking up. It was Magma and, apparently, he was now free. It looked like the conversation he had earlier with Eagle had become reality. Would he end up doing the vigilantes job for them? Thinking that, he raised his revolver, aiming at Magma. The blonde foreigner wasn’t aiming to wound, he was aiming to kill. The loud sound rang from his revolver as he pulled the trigger, using the gun’s actual ammunition. Next, a loud screeching, the pure force projectile was shot from the barrel’s end. Following that, Krauss kept alternating between his revolver’s ammunition and his own quirk, until there were no more loaded rounds in the cylinder of the revolver.
Motive, huh… now that he’s brought that up, I wonder why they’d even need a suicide-bomber for something like this. Sooo overkill, honestly,
“The newcomer makes a valid point. There is a severe lack of information and I’d rather not rush in blind.” Springer’s words prompted Shinobu to nod enthusiastically, further placing emphasis on the thought (mainly pertaining to him being right, but whatever). It was true, though; and as much as he wanted to rush in and show off, going in with the limited information that they had likely wouldn’t end well for anyone. This... would be a lot easier if I didn’t care, obscured irises trailed over the scene—numerous emergency vehicles stationed nearby; the crowd of curious yet frightened passerby; the building filled with civilians who were unfortunate enough to be dragged into this entire mess. He couldn’t see so well, but perhaps because of that, the sounds from everything seemed that much louder. But alas.
When it was Marionette’s turn to speak, Shinobu merely hummed. ”Now with the situation at hand I’m not sure what quirks they have, but I think we should focus on the hostages and that bomb.”
”Well, yeah, I’d imagine that’s what we were called here for... But since we’re all still sitting here like this, it’s pretty clear none of us have the ability to just go in and deal with it like it’s whatever.” His (external) thoughts continued, a somewhat haughty glint in his eyes as they did—“Or at least, maybe I can, though that’s why knowing their quirks would be important… that, and it wouldn’t hurt to know since confrontation is pretty much unavoidable here ~”
Phantasm’s words had pretty much confirmed his earlier thought about Nexette’s quirk, causing a grin to tug at his lips. “Wow ~ Phantasm, that’s kinda what I was thinking of as well. Ah… what do they say? ‘Great minds think alike’?” He agreed, completely opting to leave out the fact that he hadn’t done his homework on his team’s abilities. Regardless, based on what little he did learn, fragments of a plan began to come together in his head and the feeling of persistent idleness slowly dissipated from his form. He was confident in his capacity for stealth, so sneaking Nexette close to the bomb to contain it would be easy enough so long as there was someone able to inform them of the area beforehand (potentially Marionette…?). After that, Phantasm and Springer would be able to do their thing, apprehen—
“Hmm… something about that looks shady.”
He had to squint, but he could somewhat make out a figure running through the front entrance of the bank, inching closer to the line of vehicles and the number of nosey civilians kept behind them. It wasn’t out of fear, no; instead, it seemed hostile. An unpleasant feeling swirled within the pits of his stomach and at that point, Shinobu knew exactly what was about to transpire. But... even in knowing, the figure in question hadn’t allowed a second to respond, and before anyone could,
the world was washed away in a sea of their vengeance.
...! Wh-…at... Thought the albino, the sound of his internal dialogue somehow standing out from the insufferable ringing that soon plagued his senses. As if by instinct, his quirk activated as an attempt to nullify the pain caused by the explosion for both himself and those around him; which did help, but ultimately didn’t change that everyone’s hearing was… for lack of a better term, fucked. O-ow... Tch, I guess there’s no point in prepping for something like this if you’re not gonna go through with it. If it was as simple as just keeping people hostage, all they had to do was hold someone at gunpoint, but… seriously??
He took a moment to register the surrounding area, slowly standing after having been thrown to the ground by the bomb's impact; he was disoriented, but it wasn’t something his quirk couldn’t help temporarily alleviate. He... was still alive, however, there was no way an explosion of that magnitude didn’t result in anything tragic, and this thought would soon be proven as everything finally settled in.
Cars had been flipped over, and the area was heavily damaged and scorched. But the most notable thing about it all were the charred remains of the unsuspecting, husks of those who were alive mere seconds ago yet that moment’s cry was enough to extinguish the light in their eyes. Luckily, this wasn’t everyone, but many others suffered injuries and overall, the sight was depressing; not something he really took joy in. Ugh… Shinobu decided it’d be best not to linger on it for now.
Slowly moving to make sure the rest of his team was okay, he flashed them one of his signature grins despite the discomfort in his ears, his head—everywhere, really. “Is everyone good? I’m glad to see you all are still here, at least…!” He trailed off—he didn’t even know if they could hear him yet. This is…
Wordlessly, the kami released 50 Cent as Charlie ran across to follow through with her plan. The Miko would have marveled at the smooth course of it, if not for the archer's glint in the corner of her eye. Tatsuo's bow had immediately reformed into her haraigushi stick, just in time for her to spin the tool around and hit the tail end of the projectile. The arrow just barely hit its mark, tearing through the air beside her ear; way too close for comfort. She choked on her own saliva.
Tatsuo ducked back behind cover, just in time to receive Katayama in her care as Nakano went to brawl the bejeweled man. One look at the rookie, and she didn't need to question Sunotaiga's order. The Miko took to him like one would catch a baby. "Lay off, Slowburn." Unlike earlier, her voice took on a more serious tone—wariness and a hint of worry bundled in one. Though assisting the currently worn Katayama back behind cover, she rapidly glanced around. "Save your energy; always expect more." But as if on cue, their earpieces rang.
"Magma is free."
Tatsuo bit her lip. The concern on her face became visible. The kamidana shrine produced one more wave of kami via the mirror in that time—not enough, she decided. Tatsuo drew an ofuda talisman from her pocket, grabbing one end with her mouth and the other with her free hand. And, as the tearing of paper came through, so did swaths of extra kami, billowing into the air. "Slowburn," she began, unsure if he had any time to breathe, "if any threat comes my way, I need you to cover me."
Tatsuo took in a breath, letting her eyes flutter shut. The shrine-maiden climbed on the roof of their vehicle cover, raising the haraigushi high. She began a left-right motion with the stick. Soon enough, the kami followed suit, flying overhead in what would have been a spectacle if not for the chaos occurring around. Then, she spun the purification stick, aiming it to each of the attackers for a moment, before slamming its end onto the car roof. The kami dispersed.
Swarms of the little, translucent white orbs buzzed and latched onto each of the three threats like a blinding mass—especially on the archer, preventing anymore suppressing fire from her. Weighed down, they would quickly lose their balance in a dizzying disorientation, unable to see clearly nor concentrate as well as they could have. Any attacks on the trio would not have affected the kami, which flew like insects. As for the archer, the glowing whiteness gave away her position for all to see, hopefully paving a path for any sharpshooters within the prison.
SHIN NAOSAWA
W/ TEAM B
"Sir, do you need any assistance?"
A pair of beady black eyes blinked rapidly towards the EAGLE member. They belonged to a raven-haired girl, roughly college-aged or perhaps in her junior or senior year of high school. She was neatly dressed in a simple yellow t-shirt and blue jeans, with a green apron neatly fitted from her shoulders to her waist. On her chest, a simple name tag read 'Genda Supermarket' followed by the name 'Mayumi Hisakawa'.
Shin's cold pink eyes returned the girl's gaze with a stare, his expression remaining blank and emotionless. "No—I'm fine."
"I-I'm sorry for disturbing you then," Mayumi stammered, slightly recoiling from the agent's expression or lack thereof. "It's just that...you've been staring at that aisle for so long. I thought you may've had a problem."
Shin paused for a moment. "I did have a few questions."
"Of course! Shoot away, it's my job to listen and help after all."
His attention returned to the aisle in front of him. Within, there laid an assortment of caffeinated beverages ranging canned coffee to energy drinks. "Well, my go-to coffee brand was discontinued a few days ago and I've been looking for a new brand. You see, I've been eying the BOSS Rainbow Mountain Blend, where they claim it contains a variety of different blends from regions that include Acatenango Valley, Antigua Coffee, Traditional Atitlan, Fraijanes Plateau, Highland Huehue, New Oriente, and Volcanic San Marcos..." Shin paused for a moment to clear his throat, ignoring Mayumi as her posture became increasingly withdrawn from the conversation, clearly attempting to find any means of escape. "Now the issue is that I've also seen the BOSS Café au Lait, where it's sourced from the 'best regions in Brazil'. Both of these products have milk and sugar and are surely different from a standard cold brew. But these two products seem so similar that I simply don't know what to buy. What's your opinion on this?"
Shin turned his head towards the employee, awaiting her response. Though for many, excruciating seconds she didn't reply. Mayumi simply seized up, adopting a sort of nearly frozen, glazed expression as her mouth silently and subtly tried to form any sort of response. "Sir I...really don't know, I don't drink coffee."
"Oh..."
Another awkward silence fell between the two, the only noise filling the void being the soft, echoed voice of a nearby intercom as it advertised new products for sale. Eventually however, the employee perked up, offering the following compromise: "I could go...bring a coworker here though! I'm sure she'll—"
A sudden BOOM abruptly ended the conversation, as if the heavens themselves sought an end Shin and the poor supermarket employee's pitiful excuse of a conversation. The duo immediately shifted their attention towards the general direction of the disruption. While Mayumi quickly began to panic, rambling a series of incoherent jumbles of words as she backed herself into the aisle, Shin remained calm.
"Thanks for your help regardless. I'll be willing to talk to your coworker later, but for now I need to get going," Shin nodded towards Mayumi, and without much of a second thought, he then immediately sprang into action. He went from a light jog to a sprint as he bolted towards the exit of the supermarket, navigating through scores of customers as they too began to rush out of the store in a frenzy. In the worst case scenario it was likely some sort of explosion and to Shin, it was only a matter of assessing the extent of the damage.
---
As Shin approached the scene of the disturbance, he began to truly understand the gravity of the situation. Even from a distance, large puffs of smoke could be seen from burning lopsided cars. It seemed as if an entire intersection had been completely levelled, with only a burning wreckage remaining. Shin carefully marched deeper into the plume of smoke, covering his nose and mouth with his hand as he approached. Corpses were scattered throughout, left as charred remains. If it wasn't for the faint sound of nearby voices, he would've simply presumed the explosion had left no survivors. But instead, Shin did see and hear those who had survived.
"Hey!" Shin shouted towards a nearby survivors, hoping to get their attention. He recognized them as his fellow agents, thus meaning this was indeed some sort of villainous encounter. For the most part, these individuals seemed to be in a dazed state, with the exception of one stranger, standing upright amongst the rest. As he approached them, he began to inquire further.
"Is everyone alright? What happened?"
Katherine would have been happy to answer, but Tsukuyomi spoke up instead ( StealthyShades StealthyShades ). There was no way anyone could access the CCTV, not unless Charlie was here. Which unfortunately she was in a whole other mission. A sigh escaped her lips and her eyes shifted toward Shinobu ( poi poi ) who joined them on the mission, though a bit late. While her back was toward the bank, she failed to see the suicide bomber coming out. Before she knew it she was sent flying across the floor, her ears filled with a very high pitched noise, followed by muffled voices that were possibly screaming? The Hero remained on the ground, trying to process what happened as her eyes fluttered open. All she could see was cars on fire, and some unfortunate souls that met their doom with the bomb. What is going on...Why is the crime rate going up so drastically...? This is absolutely insane... she thought, slowly trying to sit up on her own accord as she continued to hear nothing but the ringing in her ears with the occasional muffled words.
Looking over toward her side, she saw Shinobu who was talking with a smile. But Kathy couldn't here a damn word he was saying. He sounds like a damn Peanut parent in the cartoon... amethyst eyes moved toward some more muffled noises which were a bit higher than the others. It was Shin ( Pyosimros Pyosimros ) who came in as well. Late to the party unfortunately but luckily wasn't in a state like majority of them were. Kathy began to get up entirely, moving her legs to go underneath her before getting up. Despite not being able to hear, she tried her best to keep it together and spoke. Though she didn't realize how soft she was actually speaking now that she couldn't even hear herself "Good to see someone isnt blown away like the rest of us are..." gazing back at the building, it was luckily still in contact but there was no doubt in her mind that it was possible some civilians got hurt inside. On top of it all, she wasn't sure where the villains were at the current moment...Did they get away?
Nexette went to lift her arm but winced in the process, putting her arm back down. It was possible she landed on her upper arm/Shoulder when she had gotten thrown to her current position. Granted she wasn't useless but she definitely could not do hand to hand combat at this moment in time.
Bomb Voyage
Tsukuyomi Hachiman
Charlie + Tatsuo = Charsuo
Fuck, where am I? What just happened? Once Tsukuyomi came to, the only thing he saw for the first few seconds was a bright white light. He slowly gained his vision back not knowing the chaos that was erupting around him. There were burning police cars surrounding him. This looks really familiar. The last time he saw this many police cars on fire was when Magma took his friend from him. Still not fully processing his surroundings, he finally gained his hearing back. The first face He saw running towards him was Shin ( Pyosimros Pyosimros ). His hearing was back and he regretted it deeply. "Is everyone alright? What happened?"
Now able to hear the utter chaos around him, he finally realized what just happened. What did I say... we had to deal with that damn bomb… look what fucking happened. It was useless now for him to blame anyone. What was more important was making sure the team was okay. Tsukuyomi finally answers Shin’s question “I'm not sure about everyone but I will live.” He knew that he was in terrible shape but he had to play it off. He continued to answer Shin “Also, a suicide bomber is what fucking happened. Caught us completely off guard. I should’ve fucking paid more attention but at last, I didn’t” After looking at the carnage, he noticed how many officers were caught in that blast. Most of them were in very bad shape and there were definitely some that were dead from the blast. Great… it's just like that day again. Not wanting to get distracted, Tsukuyomi refocused on the situation at hand. “Anyone who is not in bad shape, if you can hear me we need people to deal with the injured, and we need others to check on the hostages. Be careful, we don’t know if there are any other criminals in the bank.” He was too injured to do anything. If I’m gonna take another blast like that I'm going to be out for weeks. He moved to the best of his ability to cover and began to channel his quirk, casting a shadow puppet and allowing it to rush into the bank.
In the distance, Masaru could see his rowdy senior move towards him, simultaneously entering the center of all the action where everything had taken place so far. He was met with her complacent grin although her words certainly did surprise him, “Hah, not bad, rookie. Masaru, was it? Color me surprised, you do have a spine after all.”
“..It’s Katayama to you,” he pointed out but decided to not delve in any deeper since it was a minute thing compared to all the problems that had been thrust upon them.
First-name basis or not, he appreciated the unexpected compliment amidst a tense situation, “But thanks - be careful-“ Masaru never had the chance to finish what he was saying as Nakano left in an instant and was already duking it out with ‘Mr. 50 Cent.’
He was confident that she would be able to take care of it, she had a wild…primal way of doing things. The car ride was a clear indicator of that, and it was probably what they needed to turn the tide to their favor, a wildcard. The hero couldn’t keep his thoughts on that for too long as he wasn’t given any time to rest. Wide alert once more, as soon as he heard another round of arrows zip through the air, like a lion’s roar breaking through the commotion, he glanced to where Tatsuo and Charlie were. He couldn’t make it in time, they were so close yet so far out of reach. What could he do?
Damn it!
His attention was quickly rerouted to his own well-being when he heard something heading his way. He put his palms up and closed his eyes as his still-blazing hands, created a linear pocket of sizzling, hot air to make the arrow sway. He immediately rolled over, barely managing to move himself out of the way before it hit something of his. Masaru heard the arrow pierce through something but felt no pain, then he opened his eyes and glanced all over. His head felt lighter, he realized it did get something, coaxing a gasp of disbelief out of him.
…My headband.
It ripped, and slowly unraveled off his forehead, falling onto the ground. He picked up gingerly, and tied it around his neck, it was considerably shorter meaning he couldn't wrap it around his head now. As for the rest that had been stripped away, he grieved silently as the red pieces of fabric flew away, carried off by the wind. The archer was going to get what they deserved he thought as he saw the foreigner act again.
When both parties finished dealing with their troublesome arrow, Tatsuo advanced towards where he was right away and began to help him in his worn-down state. He collapsed on the ground next to her, but a sigh of relief came out from him knowing that the two of them were okay. Of course, he knew that his fellow rookie and his senior were both capable of defending themselves, but it still pained him to think that even for a moment, he felt useless.
"You really have to work on your fighting words." Masaru heard a rough, almost incoherent, voice call out to him. It came from the gem-man. He felt rage almost overcome him had it not been for Tatsuo there, the fire on his fists swelling too large that he had to move it away to prevent it bouncing onto the other two’s laps.
The uselessness and anger, the medley of negative feelings was swept under the rug for the time being as he expected to hear the shrine-maiden’s gentle voice again. This time however, there was a different tone that accompanied her words, she sounded like a tired mother, "Lay off, Slowburn - Save your energy; always expect more." He obeyed hesitantly, but as soon as she finished speaking, their earpieces rang out with the worst news they could’ve gotten then.
“Magma is free.”
Lava.
A short panic seized him, a figure with a human skull for a mask came into his vision. Masaru steadied his breath as hard as it was for him, and just let his eyes relax on Tatsuo’s soothing figure and kept his focus on the present around him. Despite her concerned look, he was glad that someone was there in the moment with him. His anxiety withered when he glanced back and caught sight of Charlie too, he took a deep breath and exhaled slowly.
Take it easy…Magma isn’t Meltdown, Masaru.
Despite his self-reassurance, the recent announcement from Ichiro was still a horrible development regarding their mission, the gem-encrusted assailant was still very much active despite the torrent of punches Nakano dished out for the stubborn headache. Not to mention there was that archer, they didn’t seem quite ready to sleep in their battlefield coffin just yet. As much as he wanted to deny the reality of their current situation, he knew there was more to be done, more that he could do for everyone.
Masaru waited for Tatsuo to finish what she was doing – the shrine maiden hero was releasing swarms of fluttering light like the ones from earlier. He closed his eyes, genuinely ashamed to meet his fellow hero’s gaze. He was disobeying a straight order, and from her of all people, who had been amiable from the beginning. She didn’t deserve it, but as much as he felt bad for undermining his senior’s authority, he was set on his plan to put them all back up on their feet.
“I’m sorry Miko, but that’s the one thing I can’t carry out for you, Haywire,” Masaru paused, looking at Charlie; giving her a solemn look, “She's in your hands now. Guard Miko to the best of your abilities.” He gritted his teeth, and his jaw stiffened; a hard-to-miss expression of both anguish and resignation on his face.
Although it was a short break, it was enough for the flame hero to feel energized once more even as some old blood stains remained caked on him and all the accrued bruises that he reluctantly wore. Approaching both Nakano and the gem-clad man, he noticed that both sides had taken critical injuries. The tiger woman’s hands look beat, but until he got there, she had been pounding non-stop on their enemy’s hard gem exterior.
“Sunotaiga. Take a breather. I’m finishing this once and for all. We can't afford taking our eyes off the main problem, Magma. Him unleashed is the bigger problem now.”
Masaru bolted right up to Nakano’s opponent, now his opponent for the second time and got on his back just as he watched his senior do. He was a quick learner.
“G-get off me! You!”
“You told me to work on my fighting words and now-,” His iron hot fists hammered down at lightning-speed, ignoring the pain every time they clashed against the gems as he screamed from the top of his lungs, “-you’re going to eat them!”
As the man’s vision got clouded and his movements disorientated from his assault, the assailant lost his bearings. To try to get the brunet off his back, he slammed his gem-encrusted fists into the ground. The sound of tiny pebbles skittering away was barely any warning, but the hero jumped right off.
A fissure slowly revealed itself on the entirety of the prison yard’s surface. Masaru wasn't on the lean side but the heavier of the two was definitely the gem-man who began to sink into the crevice that he unintentionally formed.
The hero caught his breath and gasped for air since he barely had any time to breath since he kept bringing out consecutive punches.
“NO!”
Hearing the horrible growl come out of his opponent, the hero turned around at once, but it was too late. He was met with eyes desperate to survive, “You’re coming…with me!”
The assailant's sanity had been severely disfigured from them toying with him, standing before Masaru was a complete mess of a man. With instincts put on overdrive, he pushed Nakano away as the crack in the ground widened. As soon as he saw Nakano tumble off into safety, carrying a flicker of fire as a parting gift, he felt his uniform get yanked with such force he yelped in pain.
imageedit-1-4495411592.jpg
--
Before he knew it, he was free-falling. Masaru looked underneath him, and the man was laughing maniacally as if the hero’s death was a victory despite knowing he too would perish. The brunet expected to have his life flash before him as heard many people say whenever the end is coming near but there was nothing but a slew of faces in his mind coming through. Despite gaining momentum, he felt cold; his hands losing the bright fire they once emitted.
Nexette. Treasure Map. Miko. Charlie. Gao and all the rest back at the agency. The people back home, the small town in Hokkaido. He felt shame in letting everyone down but once he recalled his family, a rampant sensation of regret instantly encompassed his whole soul; realizing that their hopes that he had been entrusted with, were going down with him.
“Forgive me for not finding your killer...Katayama-san...Pa,” he voiced out bitterly, “Parona. For being selfish and leaving you here alone without a family in this world.”
Shortly after a silver-haired girl made her way into his mind. She was smiling, her skirt swayed softly from a gentle wind as she timidly gazed back at him, standing underneath a clear summer sky. Then she faded away just like the rest of them. It was then that for a few seconds as he tumbled to his grave that he became like a child bereaved of his parents, realizing that they were now an orphan. He let out a distraught sob, it didn’t matter if his enemy heard him or if the heroes up above got wind of his pitiful cries. A steady stream of tears spilled down his face, flying away from him like doves that had been caged up.
“Megumi,” shutting his eyes, shivering. He was starting to black out, “I couldn't keep our promise.”
With his final breath, Masaru weakly uttered those last few words before his consciousness waned into nothing; he felt warmth rapidly leave his body. The now-diluted glow in his hands could no longer be found as the two of them plummeted below into the abysmal darkness; letting the empty space engulf them completely, their outlines no longer discernible.
“Rookie or not, anyone who takes it upon themselves to enter that profession will find themselves in deadly situations, Lady Katayama. There's always a risk involved being a professional hero.”
“Yeah...you're right. Wait- Lady? You make me sound real old, I'm not like you!”
Collective laughter rang throughout the office.
“The tour of the grounds is pretty much over with, right? I’ll go ahead and do this tedious paperwork instead of putting it off if I got this much free time.”
“Alright, well, let us know if you need anything. I’m sure Masaru is just fine. My partner – your grandpa raised him up to be resilient chap, you know.”
“I hope so! He said he’d find time to see each other again! We’re still technically on vacation so he still owes me a visit to a cat café!”
► Ugetsu Minase [PHANTASM]
The passage of time seemed to slow down as Shinobu’s comment drew his gaze towards a suspicious figure lurking around the bank. Before Ugetsu could even squint in an attempt to focus his view, a bright flash engulfed his vision, forcing him to close his eyes. The vicious current from the blast threw him a few ways away from where he’d failed to brace himself, and it took a few more seconds for the male to process the harsh ringing in his ears.
Ugetsu dug his umbrella (which was surprisingly still clutched in his hands) into the asphalt to anchor himself as he slowly stood back up. Blinking away the dust that threatened to fall from his lashes into his eyes, the blue-haired male shook his head once, then twice in failed attempts to clear up his hearing. To his dismay, anything Shinobu, Shin, and Katherine said were received as nothing but incomprehensible mumbles.
It was a good thing he could read lips. Kind of. Hopefully his eardrums would be less rattled by the time it was time to head in.
“Good to see you’re here,”
Ugetsu said to Shin,
“things just got messy, and I’m sure we’re shorthanded.”
In any case, it was far from expected that the bomber’s accomplice would rush into the building and immediately detonate a bomb. Had they caught sight of them already? No matter. It wasn’t good to dwell on the details of things that had already occurred. The chances were low, but he had no doubt that there were a small handful of people who’d survived the blast.
“I’ll focus on putting out any fires and removing rubble if any survivors were buried,”
Ugetsu announced before walking closer to the crumbling bank to survey for any safe routes of entry.
Jin glanced to the side as Marionette spoke up; the rabbit hero's ears twitching as his colleague mentioned the obvious concern of the 'bomb'. Everyone here was well aware of the risk's involved with a suicide bomber yet it seemed like very little attention or energy was being put towards how to deal with the situation considering the blatant lack of information at hand. There was a clear over dependence towards their own quirks and a disregard to the potential quirks of the villains at large. to even attempt to come up with a plan with so little information was akin to digging your own grave.. or that of another who may be unfortunate enough to pay the ultimate price for ones lack of planning before hand.
Heck, They hadn't even been handed a blueprint of the building. What other entrances were available to the hero besides the front entrance?. What key locations could they attempt to secure in order to make sure there were as little casualties as possible?. Even if there was no CCTV available, having a clear idea of the buildings layout would have been better then nothing. Merely running in through the front door would have only spurned the suicide bomber to detonate themselves much quicker. A cornered prey animal will do anything out of sheer desperation and that was the last thing they needed, considering the potential repercussions of it. . Alas, the current plans being voiced seemed to rely on dumb luck if nothing else and that alone was beginning to infuriate the normally mild mannered hero. There was also no guarantee that the villains inside did not have a way of detecting their attempts to enter, much less a guarantee that they did not already have a live feed of what was happening outside the bank.
Thankfully Ugetsu seemed to be considering the hazards of running in blind; his mention of a rough layout almost music to Jin's ears and if that was music, the mention of potential accomplices and the likes was a chorus. "Ugetsu is right. We can't rush in with so little information. The bomb is obviously a concern, but shouldn't our efforts be to first secure the safety of the hostages before we even consider how we handle the bomb?. There is no guarantee we can safely disarm it before it explodes and if we fail to accomplish that then without doubt the innocent lives inside will be the price we pay for our failure. I will not jeopardize their lives....."
Jins ears twitched and his head jolted to the right as the sound of footsteps leaving from the front door of the building could be heard. "What the fuck?" he mumbled in growing disbelief. Putting two and two together, Jin knew was about to happen yet before he could even begin to figure out how he'd brace himself, the sight of two kids breaking past the cars through the barriers had caught his attention. "Fuck!" he shouted as he took action. Something from inside the building had spurned them to rush forward beyond the barriers designed to hold them back, perhaps the sight of a family member trapped inside? What else could it be... but because of that they were now in clear danger of being wiped from existence... though not if Jin could help it.
The entire bottom half of Jin morphing into a spring, the rabbit hero shot forward like a bullet; the white and red blur that was his frame flying towards the two kids with his arms out stretched. Through his peripherals he could see a growing bright red glow, signalling the beginning of the explosion.' "Make it in time.. come on, fucking make it in time!" shouted the rabbit hero as he felt both hands grasp the bodies of the two children; his body coiling inwards as he used his size to shield the two children from the sound and impact of the incoming destruction.
*Boom*
Still in mid air, the resounding shockwave had altered the trajectory of Jin and the two children, the trio suddenly forced backwards beyond the crowd of people whom had begun to duck, hide and run from the blast. Though despite the obvious pain beginning to shoot up the back of springer from the force of the impact, the rabbit hero still held the children tightly against his chest; his body a shield as they finally hit the ground, rolling to a stop several yards away from where the barriers holding the civilians had been erected.
Jin was motionless as he lay there, the two kids hugged tightly against himself as blood began to drip from the side of his ears. The combination of the massive blunt force impact against his back as well as the assault to his sense of hearing had rendered him unconscious for the moment.
"Magma is free."
Perfect. Simply fuckin' splendid!
Rather.. optimistic thoughts ran through her mind as the fateful three words seemed to echo throughout everyone's minds. Blue eyes, no longer glowing, immediately averted their gaze towards where Ichiro stood. Her gaze was met with the drunken hero along with two dead policeman. This Magma guy really has a thing for killing policemen, huh?
Almost as if on cue, Charlie could hear bullets being fired off, one right after the other. The sound boomed throughout the prison entrance, bright streams of light aiming to kill. This looked to be the same quirk as the man with the weird goggles from earlier, and he managed to nearly take out the archer.. Battling thoughts clashed in her mind, tugging at each other to decide whether she should follow the freed villain, or stick with her team. These thoughts were abruptly cut off by Miko, who was directing Slowburn to keep guard.
As soon as Tatsuo dispersed the Kami, Charlie turned back towards the rest of her team, quickly making her way towards The Shrine Maiden and a beaten up Slowburn. Despite this ever-growing problem with Magma, the fight between Nakano and 50 Cent was not letting up. The sound of bone pounding this man's gem armor was pretty brutal. Thank god there were some intense brawn brought along for the mission. As she kept an eye on the fighting pair and their surroundings, Katayama replied to Tatsuo,
"I’m sorry Miko, but that’s the one thing I can’t carry out for you. Haywire,” Hearing her own name, the young hero made eye contact with her fellow rookie, having a feeling she knew where this was going. Nakano can't keep fighting this guy on her own. "She's in your hands now. Guard Miko to the best of your abilities." His expression was hard to miss, and Charlie knew that he was planning to put his all into whatever he was about to do.
With a swift nod, Charlie replied, "Give him hell, Slowburn." Her few words of encouragement just barely managed to reach him before he was standing closer to the gem-encrusted villain.
It was now just her on the ground, and Tatsuo standing atop the vehicle that kept the teammates guarded from the oncoming arrows that seemed to now cease. Charlie couldn't help the uneasiness beginning to rise within her. Magma has the perfect distraction. And Katayama only confirmed it when he spoke to Sunotaiga. Should Tatsuo and Charlie leave this to the two fighters? She could start this car and shorten the distance between Team A and the target.
"Miko, let's-" Just as Charlie began to speak through the comms, the earth beneath her shook, making the cars around the group of heroes sway. Haywire instinctively looked up to Miko, holding a hand out to her, "C'mon, get off the-"
Again, interrupted by the uncomfortable sound of the Earth giving way beneath the rather large villain. Haywire's gaze couldn't help but be pulled towards the booming voice of a man who is about to lose it all, "You're coming... with me!" Charlie's stomach turned, events following as if it were in slow motion. It was a mere second or so, but Charlie was already running towards her fellow rookie.
It was no use. Just as quickly as she heard the villain, the pair dropped below. Charlie knew it was pointless. He was gone. But she couldn't stop herself from running towards the gaping hole that replaced the ground that she was walking on mere minutes ago.
Fuck.
Charlie didn't even get a chance to work with Katayama. A rookie just like her. He was robbed. Rage sparked within her, her heart pounding as (now watery) blue eyes stared down at the pitch-black vision before her. She muttered into the comms, "Slowburn is gone. 50 Cent has been eliminated." She looked back up, turning to Nakano, to Ichiro, then to Tatsuo.
"I'm going to chase this stupid fucking Magma." With that, she quickly scanned the area for a vehicle.. preferably a durable one, with weapons. Angry eyes quickly found a cop car. A cop car, clearly having taken some hits from a few arrows, but that was fine. It would run, and that's what mattered.
Charlie ran to the SUV, hopping into the driver's seat. "I say we split up between Ichiro's car and this one." Eyes glowed a bright fluorescent blue, black hair levitating as the engine roared to life. "If you want to ride with me, hurry up." Her voice was the sternest any of her team have heard as of yet. Brows furrowed as she shifted gears and hacked into the police car's MDC (mobile data computer).
Charlie kept the car steady to wait for her teammates, now speaking to any officers in the area through the MDC , "Listen up. This is Haywire from Eagle Agency speaking. If there are any able bodies in the area, Magma has escaped. I repeat: Magma has escaped and is unrestrained. He is on the move, and we are doing our best to apprehend him. Magma was last seen outside the gates of Your Mom Prison. Any help in trapping the fucker would be greatly appreciated." Charlie programmed it so that her message would play on loop to any other MDC's within a ten mile radius.
Peering out of the driver side window, eyes still glowing, she snapped, "Well, what're we waiting for?"
Tsukuyomi Hachiman
I'm sorry... Grace
Nobody ever tells you that hero work was easy. Everything just moves so fast. Those fast moments are when you find out if you are supposed to be a hero. The dust was still lingering in the air as the shadow puppet ran into the bank. There was so much debris there that it had a hard time moving through the pieces of wood and Rock. As Tsukuyomi got deeper and deeper into the bank, he spotted one thing that was out of place: an open sewer drain with the latter leading down into a dark abyss. This is probably how the other criminals got out. He stood there for a brief few seconds debating on whether it was truly worth it; chasing these criminals. If he does get in conflict with them he wouldn't be able to fight them before getting his puppet mode down. His best bet was staying behind to ensure that his time wasn't being wasted. His shadow dissipates and he stood to his feet. He stares back at where the dead man switch was detonated. I don't know who the others were but they did a lot of damage. The pure amount of blood, burnt muscle, and tissue in that area could make the common individual sick. After doing this work for so long, you get numb to the sight of gore.
The hero begins to move towards the blazing husk that was once a police car. His eyes danced around the destroyed environment until he found an officer lining next to a burned police car. He approached the cop with a message, “Lieutenant, the other robbers have escaped” he grabs the man by the arm and helps him up. He was hurt but not as bad as his men. “They are a lost cause. It would be better for us to help the citizens that are hurt than to chase them.” The man sadly agreed with Tsuki and told him that he would let the station know. If I was in better shape I would have apprehended these bastards but they got lucky this time. Tsukuyomi grabs the upper left side of his torso. You gotta be shitting me. He took off his suit jacket to reveal a small scrap piece of metal penetrating him. He knew it didn't hit anything important but it still hurt like a bitch. He had to fight through it. He was about to start to help Ugetsu with rescuing the survivors of the explosion until his phone began to ring.
"Hello, whoever this is, you caught me in a bad time right now."
A quiet and worried voice spoke up from the silence, “Tsuki.” Out of fear of the unknown, Grace called him when she saw the news. She asked him if he was there and if he was ok. He bit the inner lining of his lip to distract himself from the pain that he was in. He began to speak in a calm and mostly clear voice. “Grace, I'm fine. Don’t worry. I can't talk right now but I'm fine” she answered him with a voice that seemed very quavered like she was crying “Tsuki, promise me that you are fine.” He looked down at his chest again and lied to her, “Grace, I promise. I need to get back to work. See you soon.” He hangs up the phone and started to move to Jin ( Phayne Phayne ). He called out to the rabbit hoping that he wasn't injured. With no response, he picked up the pace. When he got to him, he found that the two kids that he had were fine. Jin was still not answering him. “Jin, wake up. We got work to do.” As he waits for Jin to respond, he sees that Kathy was up and moving. “Kathy, ( Britt-21 Britt-21 ) if you are strong enough try to help Ugetsu ( Nano Nano ) with debris. I’ll be there soon.”
SHIN NAOSAWA
W/ TEAM B
"Good to see someone isn't blown away like the rest of us are..."
All Shin could offer was a slow, idle nod to the comment. Around him was a mass of death and destruction. Dozens of simultaneous, self-contained events all played together, as the survivors of the blast tended to their wounds. Shin could rush to help any one of them, yet when given the choice to choose he simply froze, unsure of who to approach first. There was first Tsuki, that seemed to have recovered from his injuries the best. Though on the other hand Kathy, Ugetsu, Jin, and Shinobu all seemed to be in some form of disrepair.
“Anyone who is not in bad shape, if you can hear me we need people to deal with the injured, and we need others to check on the hostages. Be careful, we don’t know if there are any other criminals in the bank."
"Right. Of course,"
Shin replied with a hastened nod, his eyes following Tsuki as he then proceeded towards Jin.
With Tsuki's support towards Jin, it was only a matter of supporting the rest of the survivors. His attention immediately focused on those closest to him in terms of distance first: Kathy and Ugetsu. Ugetsu had already risen, though Kathy in contrast had barely managed a sitting position. From a distance, Shin offered a hand towards Kathy. His quirk worked to close the distance, materializing a small, red hand to help his comrade to his feet. With Kathy attended to, it was a matter of tending to the debris, uncovering any unfortunate survivors encased in a tomb of concrete and metal.
"Just point the way, I'll follow," Shin said rather simply, gesturing Ugetsu towards the ruins ahead of them.
» Nakano Harada
『 TAGGED 』 Mentions: Charlie, Katayama (Rip Bozo).
Interactions: I guess anyone nearby?
Overconfidence had always been Nakano’s biggest fault, and as the world around the tiger girl was engulfed by a deafening ringing noise, paired with a blurry filter setting itself upon her vision, the revelation of her strength simply not being enough to stop Mr. 50 Cent came crashing in. She was sure that her power would’ve been enough to put a swift end to the fight right there and then, but as her knuckles ached and bled her own weakness became very apparent. The mere act of closing her fist was enough to send shockwaves of pain right up her arms, she didn’t even dare look underneath the gloves to examine the damage.
“Magma is free.”
Even with her hearing finding itself in such a precarious state, the message came through clear as water. Rapid images of dancing flames flashed within her mind, the thought of her having to deal with that hell raising every single hair on her tail in an instant. Her animalistic instincts were in a panicked state, her already deteriorated state of mind only began to further crack under the pressure. Her thoughts were such a jumbled mess that she didn’t even hear Katayama’s words, who had correctly classified Magma as the larger priority. By the time she finally did notice his presence however it was already too late.
The ground underneath Nakano shook with such ferocity that it managed to snap the tiger girl back into reality. Despite her thoughts being somewhere else up until that point, her subconscious had autopiloted her into standing back on her feet. Her mind hadn’t even been set back straight fully when an unexpected force shoved her right back onto the ground, though even through her dazed state of being she bore witness to the events that unfolded immediately after. Or at least, the very last moments of it all. Nakano felt her throat tighten as she saw Katayama plummeting into the depths of a massive rupture, one that had just moments ago swallowed up Mr.50 Cent. Had she not been pushed she would’ve surely felt victim to it too. At that point every muscle that ached, every wound that bled and all that ringing in her head, they had all been pushed to the side as Nakano reincorporated herself and rushed towards the rupture. Standing at the edge of it, staring down into the unfeeling abyss, Charlie’s voice forced Nakano to face the reality of it all:
"Slowburn is gone. 50 Cent has been eliminated."
Haywire’s words were like a bucket of cold water thrown straight at Nakano’s back. As an active member of the agency Nakano had seen plenty of heroes come and go, departures that had, for the most part, been met with the same indifference. But this, this was different. Katayama’s death was a direct result of Sunotaiga’s own weakness. Had she just been a little bit strong enough, had she maybe recovered a little bit faster, maybe none of this would’ve happened. Yet again the ringing returned. Nakano had failed her team. She had previously labeled herself as the brand new rookie’s senior, but would a true senior allow for any of this to happen? Of course not, because the tiger girl wasn’t even a proper hero. She was just a street rat with dreams of grandeur playing a game that was never meant for her. If Nakano wasn’t here then Katayama would still be alive.
And then she snapped.
“GOD FUCKING DAMNIT!” Nakano exclaimed in anger, with an undertone of pain being spotted by only the most perceptive ones around her. The tiger rookie’s claws extended to their maximum length and her clenched teeth made an audible scratching noise. Any semblance of intelligence that Nakano may have once displayed was gone now, leaving behind a mess on a fully feral state. Any words that Charlie spoke simply did not reach Sunotaiga at that moment, and in the blink of an eye she was already rushing away from the scene, chasing right after Magma. To her however this wasn’t a capture mission anymore.
It didn’t take a genius to recognize that the suicide-bomber wasn’t the only enemy, and although Shinobu did consider himself to be one, it was a thought that only settled in right then and there. From the absolute state of disrepair the block suffered to the pain-ridden cries of less fortunate survivors, it’d be safe to say one couldn’t blame him for not thinking about it sooner―but when he did... for a moment, it became all he could think about.
His narrowed gaze, obscured by shades (how they didn’t just fly off during the explosion was beyond him), lingered on the bank’s entrance with a fog of an emotion he couldn’t even figure out himself. The rational thing to do in this situation would be to make sure everyone at the site was okay and tended-to, but it took everything in him to keep from bee-lining straight into the building and beginning pursuit instead.
Truth be told, he was itching for a fight after that stunt they pulled. What, did they think they were funny or something…?
To him, everyone staying behind felt like they were throwing in the towel before the battle could even happen; a scenario where none of the heroes should be proud of the outcome because it only ended in their loss. Perhaps the death of the bomber costed the assailants a number of their own, but if they had planned to do this from the start... did it really matter? If anything, it means they’re expendable. It wouldn’t make sense for your average small band of thieves to go this far for the sake of a bank robbery, so… A slow, inaudible sigh escaped from the confines of Shinobu’s lips as he turned his sights back to his colleagues, taking note of Puppetmaster’s recent appearance in the group and Springer’s lack thereof. The chances of them hailing from an organized group or something similar are looking pretty good right now. If not―well, the desperation isn’t cute.
Hearing Marionette and Phantasm’s responses to the question of what happened, the albino nodded, “Ooh―nice meeting you in person, Puppetmaster ~ Shame it couldn’t be under better circumstances, but uh… Yeah, that’s pretty much the gist of what went down.” Honestly, with his tone and the way he currently carried himself, one would think he was completely unfazed by what just occurred. “Well, while you guys do that, I guess I’ll go and check on the hostages inside. Y’know... given how this transpired, it kinda looks like we’ll have a lot to deal with later, hmm?”
──── &.
Maneuvering around debris wasn’t too difficult, given that any pain he was supposed to feel from the detonation was rendered null due to him casting his quirk upon himself. By diluting his own perception of pain, it’d allow him to move and present himself in a much more fluid manner (as if he weren’t effected at all); of course, this being something that activated instantly by instinct, any injuries he might have sustained during Operation: Blow 2.0 went completely unnoticed and would likely continue to be so until his quirk lifted.
This enabled Shinobu to enter the inside of the bank rather quickly, where the hostages were still located. Now that he was closer, he could see the scene a tad bit better than before; from what he could tell, a number of them had cuts and gashes from flying glass, but luckily, they were otherwise unharmed...
… However, the breath of relief he was set to release never got to see fruition, instead hitching in the back of his throat as his gaze caught sight of an inky red pooling onto the beige tiled floor. No, he wasn’t surprised―he couldn’t be, not after the act of spiteful “comedy” from minutes prior―it was just... I don’t think people usually need resort to this when robbing a bank, but whatever.
A jolt of something unpleasant was felt as his eyes had met with the deceased woman’s wide ones, and he was quick to avert his attention to the hostages instead. Despite everything, a calm expression remained on his features as to keep from worrying the civilians more than they already had, and as he’d part his lips to speak, they curled up into a small, reassuring smile. “Wow ~ To be honest, I was a little worried about everyone, but… to hold out the way you did―it takes strength to be able to do that. You guys have done well! ♡”
One of the hostages―an older woman who appeared to be in her sixties?―wearily looked up at the albino, before recognition gleamed in her eyes. “W-wait, you’re…” Judging by the slight quiver in her voice, she was biting back a sob. He was about to respond with some sort of cheery confirmation, but just as he was moving to sign one of his signature peacesigns, the sudden sensation of her hands holding his own interrupted him. Wh…
“Oh, thank you…! When they―” Her eyes shakily slid over to the unfortunate sight nearby, her mental state evidently stuck in a panicked haze. “... I-I thought this could’ve been the end for us. So really… really…!” Me and the others didn’t really do much, but I guess just us being here helps… Though, not chasing the enemies down still feels lame, no matter how I look at it.
“Ah ~… Yeah, it really could’ve been the end, huh?” Shinobu began in a somewhat lighthearted manner. “Now, can I tell you something? While it could’ve been―it wasn’t. So knowing that, how should I put this… Things maybe aren’t looking so hot, but you’ve made it through the worst part,” He shot them a close-eyed grin, his frame emitting a strong sense of warm confidence that only made his words hold more meaning (or was it over-confidence? regardless, it didn’t seem to matter). The woman’s anxious trembling had slowed, and tears of relief began cascading down her dirtied features.
“It’ll be okay soon.”
“...!”
Since none of the living hostages inside the building were severely injured, tending to them was a matter of supplying emotional support while obtaining information as well; after all, if they wanted to deal with the culprits, knowledge was pivotal. At one point, something about their escape through some hatch was brought up, causing him to glance in the mentioned direction―and you could tell he was thinking; contemplating whether he should go for it or wait. Perhaps he’d be able to deal with them with ease, as Senjougahara Shinobu is a reliable person. But... it was because of that notion he had that he rationalized staying behind, too, and well… judging by the way some of the hostages kept worriedly glancing at a specific area of his side, maybe he wasn’t in as good shape as he first thought.
