Nah...
Ylvi Joarsdottir
Danr, Missionary of The One Faith, 26
Ylvi.jpg

Completely devout to The One but forbidden to become one of his Priestesses, still she spreads the his word to those who will hear it... And sometimes to those who won't.

Personae

Appearance:
Ylvi stands about as tall as the average woman, she is neither tall nor short. She's got long, ash-blonde hair that is always arranged in a heavy and voluminous halo type braid. Her eyes are light, almost grayish, blue and makes her look both misty and cold along with her pale, and slightly freckled skin. Her nose is thin but sort of long, and could be described as angular. The one thing about her face that isn't completely angelic and pretty is her upper lip, which is unevenly shaped and clearly scarred.

When traveling, Ylvi is often dressed in a large gray-coloured cloak and hood that hides the pearly whites and vivid reds of her vestment beneath. She wears tall black leather boots and gloves, as well as a big leather belt in which she hangs, her holy books, her shooting star spire and other various tools and items. She wears no jewelry at all, except for the traditional Argent Comet which is a necklace all priests of The One carry on their person.

Equipment:
Ylvi carries several items on her person, these include her Shooting Star, which is really just a fancy but tiny kind of spear, full of holy symbols and engravings, not really made for combat as much as it's a symbol used in rituals, and a pretty decent walking stick. Attached to her belt is a tome, clad in black leather, that is filled with holy psalms and scripts of the One Faith. She also carries a quite ordinary knife and a pouch that once used to be full of silver coins.

Personality:
Ylvi is mostly a friendly and welcoming person who emits quite a lot of warmth to whoever comes in her path. She tries her best to be as cheerful as she can, and is not late to share a laugh or two with those she socialize with. However, she doesn't like when people try to make fun of how other people look. That being said, it should come as no surprise that she respects people despite of their flaws. She makes little difference between high and low, poor and wealthy... Or at least so it would seem. See, even if she acts as if she doesn't look down on the poor and lowly, she clearly thinks of herself as better than those that have little in this world.

She would never sink to their level of bad hygiene, performing dirty and tiresome labours, nor would she take to their their filthy habits. To her, it is very important to be presentable and proper at all times. She strongly believes in The One, and would never turn her back on him (yes, she is of the Danr beliefs). Being a missionary she has a tendency to be a bit preachy as well. She tries to live her life according to the laws of The One Faith as fully as she can, and will always try to repent whenever she has done anything wrong.

Biography

Place of birth: The Island of Gryn

Kind of people: Danr.

Background:
Ylvi was born to a what could have been a simple life. Her family with a small business in the city of Laangohlm on the northernmost major Danr island – Gryn. They didn't have much, but enough to keep them fed and warm. Back in that day the Old Faith was still commonplace on Gryn, and The One Faith had yet to overtake the island. However, in Ylvi's first year this would all come to change.

The biggest change occurred before Ylvi can remember. See, she was born with a hare's lip, a rather common disorder on Gryn at the time. Tradition had it that harelipped children were to be returned to Ravnn the Trickster before their first birthday. This was usually done by sacrifice by fire during the spring. There's no way Ylvi can tell if it's true, but according to her parents she was just about to be engulfed by the flames when a heaven sent knight in shining armour came to her rescue. It was force of Danr Templars that had arrived to overtake Laangohlm in the name of The One. Hadn't it been for the Danr conquest and the new religion that they brought with them she most certainly had been devoured by the flames.

After this event, the tables turned all over Gryn. Those who were quick to submit to the new religion were rewarded with power and wealth, but those who remained loyal to the Old Faith were rewarded only with death. Ylvi's family was among the fortunate ones that converted and their gratefulness to The One was complete – not only had he send one of his servants to save their daughter from the heathen flames, but he had also given them power and riches! Because of this, Ylvi was put into theological studies at newly built temple in Laangohlm.

As of late her parents both passed away by illness and age, but Ylvi was never struck with much sorrow, for she knew that they were sent to Heaven, so live out the rest of the world's days with The One and everyone that had served him well. Inspired to one day arrive in paradise herself, she decided to make use of the fortune her parents had left her and set out on a missionary quest in Midhalpad, in order to save it's inhabitants from the horrors of the Old Faith. And even though women were not allowed to preach the word of The One according to the Danr Church, she was granted leave from the temple and permitted to follow through with her mission, mostly due to her paying a more than generous tribute to the church.

Abilities

Qualities:
Ylvi is literate and quite well-read on theology and medicine. She knows the teachings of The One almost as well as a priest. Further more, she is quite a skilled singer due to singing in the chorus of the temple for many years.

Drawbacks:
Due to her service in the temple, Ylvi knows how to brew, bake and make cheese and honey, but she isn't a cook. In fact, she has never prepared a whole proper meal in her entire life. She's never had to do any real physical labour, nor any fighting, so she is certainly not fit to fight and certainly not very strong.

Special Abilities:
Everfree: Her faith has granted her the ability to get free from most kinds of bonds. For example she'd be able to bend her way out of chains and ropes despite not having any training in said art. And at some times even locks on doors have appeared to turn at will when she needed to leave a room in which she is being held.
