History

Personality

"Did you know I am from Vale?.."

Yin grew up on the island of patch, with both her mother, and her father. It was from a young age that she learned how to fight, what not with Beowloves lurking about. Or rather, that was the excuse used by the pair of loving parents. Eventually, they even sent her to Signal Academy, a combat school right there on the island. Anything to keep their daughter close, right?

Anyways, Yin was always classified as an advanced student when it came to her studies. But when it came to the application of her abilities, well, sub-par is probably a little generous. It's not that she was terrible, but hesitation was always an ongoing trial for her. And that's the kind of mistake that can get a kid killed in this day and age.

Fast forward a number of years, and an instructor finally got tired of simply watching. They decided to take it upon themselves to hold 'remedial classes' for Yin. Some could probably call it hell, seeing as the man refused to give her a break. If she were hesitant at any point in time, he would even strike her in the back of the head with a sheath, blade still inside of it too. Now, it's not that he was a terrible man, he just needed to give that hard shove that her parents never did.

As time passed, not much improved in her combat prowess when it came to close quarters. But on the other hand, when Yin came to build her own weapon her statistics surely made a hop. It would appear as though ranged combat was more her pace. It wasn't exactly top notch, but her rapid acceleration did catch a few eyes over at Beacon.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to get in the way. It was just, so fun, watching everyone.."

Let's ignore the facade for now, and jump straight to the point. Yin's a good kid and all, but deep down where it matters, the heart, she can be a little infuriating. You see, this is because the girl is actually a pessimist. Not like she'll admit it, but she has a knack for always preparing for the worst of everything. And as such, it's kind of hard to get close to the real her. Probably what's more annoying is the fact that she thinks the cause of everything bad is actually herself. This is due to her always taking the stupid things to heart.. Much like the idea that she 'hates' everybody.. Anyways, you'll figure that bit out later, once ya' get to know her a bit.

Alright, now that you at least know what to keep an eye out for, let's get into what you will find out pretty quickly. Though she seems kind of withdrawn at times,  it's a fact that she acts quite energetic in an alternate sense. She's the type that will actively do what she thinks another wants her do. But at the same time, she keeps you at an arms reach. It's like she's trying to be cold, without actually being mean. Even when she laughs, it quickly fades away.. It's probably due to the fact that she wants others to remember her in a positive light.

But again, she is a sincere kid, despite that awkwardness. She tries to keep others happy and comfortable, whilst maintaining that stoic facade, which she is actually kind of bad at. Because of that, it's actually relatively easy to tease the poor girl. And I'll just say it now, when Yin is embarrassed, she acts a lot more genuine than her normal facade. If you want her to smile? Just slip a compliment in there somewhere. Sure it'll take a minute to show, but in the end, those kind of things do make her a little happier.

'Black Lotus'

Weapon

A home-made repeating crossbow. This handy little device is constructed with proficiency and ease on the mind, including a replaceable magazine for quick reloads. And surprisingly, this weapon can fire all seven bolts in the magazine within a second in a half. Now, just because it takes a traditional sense in firearms, doesn't necessarily mean it's lacking in firepower. Thanks to modern technologies, these little puppies (the bolts) are propelled with the force of a rocket!  But that's not to say it's use runs out when the ammo runs dry. This handy crossbow can quickly be turned into a bladed entrenchment shovel for close quarters!  What's more, Yin does have a grapple attachment for the crossbow.

Semblance

By now, it should be no surprise that Yin likes to hide behind a facade. Well, her semblance certainly reflects that. When things get a little iffy, Yin is capable of creating a pretty intense pair of clones, either of herself, or others. Though, it's generally used in the former case. But here's the thing, her semblance isn't based on confrontation. The real trick to this is that her doppelgangers always focus on retreating, regardless of the means. More or less, it's an ability primarily used for deception, or distraction.

I was actually heavily debating Mistral!  But I kinda wanted to nestle into Patch, haha.
