Futuristic Yalandor: Project “Withstand” ((Currently Closed))

Dr.Nekoshu

Confuse. Improvise. Overcome.
B2309685-1FA1-4BBF-AC79-3EE950E95D0F.jpeg

“Greetings Newest Citizen and welcome to the grand city of Yalandor! We hope you enjoy the vast Cultural and Technological differences you see within the City Limits and beyond! Yalandor welcomes you, as the city that has stood the test of time over millennia and we hope you will stand with us.” This message brought to you by the King’s Corporation, protecting Yalandor and its homeland since time immemorial.

The City of Yalandor has existed since the times when the phenomenon called “Magic” existed, keeping true to its very claims with architectural bits and pieces remaining from times when true Kings and Queens lived and ruled and hints of the mystical and fantastical hidden among its older back-alleys, streets, and buildings. The City has stood the tests of time again and again, from ancient evil threats, to their newest foe. Yet here it still stands, building upon what it has and improving it all the while under the watchful eyes of the Corporations. While Yalandor has been lucky in times past, now it currently faces a new threat, one that comes from within, from its very own.

Yalandor is currently under attack from a sort of… Resistance. A group that opposes the rule that the Corporations have over the City, its people, and its land. As the Capital of the realm since time immemorial, Yalandor’s reach with its power spreads across the land, meaning the Corporations get that very power and sway over the populace. But of course the threat facing Yalandor, depends on who you ask, some say the Resistance have the right of it and wish them the best of luck in freeing the realm from the power of the Corporations, but do so in hushed tones away from the eyes of the Corporations, so that they do not end up as another news story informing of another “Resistance Member Captured.” Others of course will proudly state that they fully support the Corporations and hope they teach the Resistance a lesson about why Yalandor has stood for so long, all the while wearing their precious jewelry, being waited on by servants both robotic and living, and making money off those the Corporations “protect.” But some of those people lie, some of the High-and-Mighty wish for the Resistance to change Yalandor for the better, but have a position of too much power to dare to even think those thoughts lest they vanish at night, and some of those who grumble and groan under the weight of the Corporations actually fear the change the Resistance bring, and only speak highly of them so that their pockets may be lined when information on the Resistance is brought to the Corporations, and their load lightened…

You are on the side of the Corporation, not by choice, but by design, as you… Are an Android. Made by one of the Corporations and donated to the special project, codenamed “Withstand” as testament to both the Corporations and Yalandor to withstand time. You are each unique in your roles, filling something the Corporations believed was needed in the project. But your goal at large is the same as your brothers and sisters in the project, to find information, follow it, and eliminate the Resistance and ensure Yalandor remains protected and your existence remains a myth to the Resistance. But of course, to also ensure that any, and all new citizens stay safe, and enjoy their stay while meeting the diverse beings here in Yalandor who all stand as a reminder of how wonderful the world used to be when Magic was more than make-believe…

==========================================================================

GREETINGS!!! It’s yet another fantastical idea from yours truly (At least I think it’s fantastical)! But enough of that, I know I know, “Nekoshu?! But it’s not Fantasy! What are you doing you crazy cat?” I know, it’s strange to see me in a sort of, technologically advanced setting such as this, but come now, a writer needs to remain open otherwise he gets in a rut! Which was exactly my problem! But oh did I find a loophole! You see, this is but the first installment (I Hope) of a world I am making, a world where I shall try to make all my future and current RPs take place! Or well, realm for now it’s still in the building process and I have some lore to work on but of course, people have such wonderful minds and I love to see what they can come up with! So welcome, I’ll stop my ramblings and get on to explaining what I expect and what you should expect!

EXPECT TO BE AMAZED!!!

I’m kidding, but enjoyment would be nice.

What you should expect from this is a city filled with technilogical advances both similar and far different than what we have, and some things that have only existed in myth and legend! That is right, this setting, while mostly Cyberpunk in some way, does include elements of the Fantastical sort. I simply couldn’t resist it, but I will point out that for most intents and purposes we will be sticking to the Cyberpunk setting more, if people stick around long enough to see more you may get to see Yalandor the way it was when Kings and Queens ruled.

What you should expect writing-wise, always try to contribute to the role play in sense of content, I’m not asking for wall of text every reply, just something that helps keep everything moving. Whether it’s things about how your character acts, things involving what is happening as at times you may be taking charge of your own fate. To be simple, always keep the ball rolling, if what the ball needs is a single line saying “I’m ready.” Type that, and we’ll be off, not sure how many times that will be needed but I am holding myself to this standard as well.
Secondly what you should expect writing wise, to be able to post at least once a week. Earlier this was once a day but I realized the probability of that being difficult for some people so I’m being nice like I should, and saying “Hey if you’re busy I understand, but do still try to contribute weekly, thank you.” But you can always post more frequently if you like and the setting allows for you to. On that note if you need a leave of absence for any reason, whether to simply be put on auto-pilot to progress the story a bit as you are busy with life, or to be fully taken out of the RP in some way, let me know in PM, OOC or any way that properly reaches me and I will be glad to talk and figure that out with you.

What to Expect character-wise: Alright! The simple part, sort of. I’ll explain most of it here, your character is an Android that will specialize in a role which I will have a list of. As you are an Android, you are a robot made to imitate life (at least that is how I see androids.) So you will look for the most part, human, there are races that are native that you may make your Android look like, but I may or may not put a restraint on what races you may appear to be as some are now quite rare or seen as… Lowly. Which makes me feel like it wouldn’t fit into the role play very well, so apology if this happens where you want to look like a race and I say no, but I am very nice and can be negotiated with so who knows.

I can’t think of much else now so if you have any questions, do feel free to ask me in any way you see fit, though I do ask you do it kindly as I expect of this community… Blah blah, nice people, blah blah. You get the speech.

Being honest most of what I said is already covered in the above spoiler. But i’ll Still do some points.
  • Try to post once a week. Please and thank you~
  • Attempt to keep the ball rolling best you can, I will also do my best to ensure we don’t stagnate.
  • Be nice in general, your character can be a total arse, but do of course be nice to the others… They could end up changing their plans to involve your character’s death after all, this is a nice story I think I’ve got.
  • Do try to keep me noted if absences or possible needs to leave for extended times, I may do check-ins if you vanish for longer than a week but I do have a limit on how long I will keep a member before moving on. One failing point of RPs is stagnation I’ve witnessed.
  • Try to enjoy yourself! I just make these hoping people will enjoy what I have to offer whether it is little or lots.

I think that is it for this one as well!

Le Roles~
This spot is simply here so you may see the roles I have chosen to have offered for your perusal, just an easy way to start thinking up a character in my opinion! Be warned, some will have only one spot and others more. All depends on things… Oh, they also have explanations in the spoiler and Claims under the spoiler itself! Each roll also has perks that make them different from the others

CQC stands for “Close Quarters Combat” for those who don’t know, and an Interrogator is not a strange Alligator but instead is someone who extracts information from people through various ways, often painful in some way shape or form.
This means that while in combat this role will be doing their best to get up-close and personal with their combatants to deliver painful, swift, or even disable and disorient their targets. But out of combat they excel at getting information from targets, through various chosen means of interrogation, whether through charm, pain, torture, threats, anything that seems worth a try.
This role makes the Android have increased reflexes to allow for better fighting and reaction-time than the average human. Improved servos that allow for more strength and speed and endurance than their siblings, and unique sight much like the “Medic’s” but instead of use in healing this sight is used to find weak points in anything from biological targets, to synthetic targets, and any armor or weapons they use in a moment’s notice. All processed by your friendly Mother.
And last but not least a slightly improved structure meant to last, in this case, think of Steve Rogers before he became Captain America. You may be beaten to a pulp, but you can stand up, raise your fists, and announce “I can do this all day.” Though results will vary.

The “Knight”, you are essentially, the grunt of the project. You are the weapons-master for anything that kills stuff, someone points at it and says “Kill.” You do just that and do it effectively. Whether it be with ballistics, energy blasts, or an old fashioned fist to the face even if the CQC is better at that than you. You make up the backbone, and are the ones that when all those specialists fail, you stand there, lock-and-load and fill whatever it is with holes.
The Knights are essentially the Soldiers of the group, you put a gun in their hands and say “Run that way and kill anything you see.” They can do it. This may seem like a basic role but that’s the point, you want basic? Pick a Knight, pick a weapon or two, lock-and-load.
The Knights are given a mental database on each and every known catalogued weapon seen by the Corporations and have access to nearly all of them upon request. They can use each and every one with deadly efficiency, and often are the “make or break” of an operation when violence comes into play.
For this reason the Knights are given one of the sturdiest builds of their siblings, able to tank anything in ballistics below a tank-piercing shell, any explosive not high enough to topple a two-story building with one set, and any sort of energy weapon not designed to absolutely obliterate or specifically disable electronics… All to a certain degree, while the programming is filled with redundancies, the build filled with backups, everything can only stand so much before it breaks, whether that be mentally or physically.
The Knight is also given a compartment accessed from the back, much like one reaches over their shoulder to pull a gun around or off their back, to store a single, moderately sized gun, such as an assault rifle, combat shotgun, anything that you might see on a standard soldier. This makes the Knight useful in covert operations where the only weapons are those that are concealable or no weapons at all.
The Knight also has a standard sight upgrade which negates the need for any scope or targeting system to improve aim as their sight allows for them to get active zoom, readings that may affect the shot, and anything else to improve their aim. Along with an active threat assessment protocol for readiness. All processed by your friendly Mother.
Spots: (1?/…) Like I said, kind of a fill in spot.

The “Medic”/Hacker is exactly as it sounds, they are another backbone of the project. They care for their siblings the best they can, whether that be repairing what Damage has been done that requires anything short of a visit to a repair lab, or even fighting viruses, hacking into any sort of system that isn’t inherently friendly, and anything else that foots the bill!
The “Medic”/Hacker is just that, they repair what they can in the field with what supplies they have, they hack any system that is presenting a problem that can’t be fixed otherwise and they generally make sure the team is running as smooth as possible.
For these reasons the “Medic” has been equipped with a medium-sized backpack which has various small parts, sealants, repair modules, and other bits and pieces for a quick fix but not much else. Anything more severe may require a visit to the repair lab.
The Medic has also been given a sight that pulls double duty for its Hacker role as well, allowing them to give quick medical readouts, or structural readouts of their siblings and thei electrical systems as well. Sort of like a life-monitor. But the double-duty it Pulls is the fact it can be changed to see in electrical waves, allowing for the Hacker to locate hardpoints in systems the old fashion way such a junction boxes, or to simply find the hardpoints in an enemy synthetic to allow for quick deactivation.
Last but not least the Hacker gets a more advanced electrical system than any of its siblings, it is more resistant to anything that could disable it whether it be viruses, or emp weaponry or devices and allows it to get an edge over most security systems. Though as where the Knight is almost invulnerable to structural damage to a point, the Medic/Hacker is only invulnerable to electrical damage to a point as well. Eventually a good virus will shut them down, concentrated emp attacks will shut down their systems, and anything else that targets their electronics will eventually win if not dealt with.
But I lied, the Medic/Hacker has one more trick up their sleeve, due to their advanced system they can cloak themselves from nearly any not above normal security levels, but once the enemy system is hacked they can hide indefinitely and even remotely access the system if in a reachable range. Making them an effective stealth unit for the team when physical encounters are a minimum.

The Supplier is essentially what it says, they ensure their teammates have supplies, they have extra ammunition, perhaps an extra weapon or two, and if I’m being honest, this is just a class one can have and mix with any of the other ones, though a limit of one class and the specialties that apply to that part are allowed.
The Supplier is equipped with a large backpack meant for storing any and all supplies issued to it as surplus for the mission what that is depends on what the Supplier decided to bring along.
The Supplier is also granted mostly open access to the Corporations funds after brief reasons for use of the funds is discussed with your friendly Mother. Since they will of course, not always be able to secure supplies straight from the Corporations themselves and may need to buy from unaffiliated vendors or… Less reputable types.

Claims & Explanations:
Brought to you by suggestion from Simple_Traveler Simple_Traveler

The Seeker/Construct is a one of a kind Android, even when compared to its siblings. The Seeker/Construct is the only one out of its siblings to have what is referred to as a “Soul”, or in this case a strong connection to the magical parts of this world, allowing them to cast magic and even to sense it as most magic casters can.
This Android was made in an effort by the Corporations as a way to have something to help catalog and understand the magic and fantastical things present in Yalandor, both as to help them get an edge over the Resistance and to allow for better documentation of possible threats.
The Seeker has been given one thing their siblings lack, a sort of synthetic soul made through magic much like the constructs of Old once had. This acts as a constantly recharging power source for the Android, allowing them to cast magic while also allowing them for longer use on missions before requiring a recharge of some sort.
The Construct also has the ability to cast magic from 2 chosen classes of magic, such as Destruction, Restoration, Illusion, Alteration, Conjuration, and perhaps more. This gives them a significant edge over almost anyone in combat.
A downside to this Android is the structural integrity, strength, and endurance. While a possible gods-send on the battlefield given their powers, they could still be beaten by anything stronger than a normal human. As a Knight or CQC could easily overpower them with physical might… Classic Mages.
The Seeker also has unique… Senses due to their unique power systems, this means that they are able to have a general sense of when and where magic is being used in say… 5 City blocks of their current location, the closer they are the stronger their sense is about it and the more clear what type it was. This also means they have a slightly less effective sense of when a magical being is present, when writhing 10-feet of them, they are not able to narrow it down very well but can slowly become more attuned to finding them.
Now as a note, all magic comes with a price in this realm. The darker it is the higher the price. Most common Magics, the price is only energy from the caster, but of course other times more is required. Nothing lost, nothing gained.

The Hunter/Tactician is somewhat of an oddity for the project, the Corporations wanted something they could rely on if most things failed. Say that the project is a test of variables, the Corporations wanted to introduce a constant into the equation. The Hunter/Tactician is more robot than android, meaning it does not share the possible shortfalls of its “siblings.”
The Hunter/Tactician is a combat-focused role for the most part, much like the Knight/Assault role. Though it differs from the role for various reasons.
Much like the Seeker/Construct this role is a prototype, not for lack of trying but merely for lack of knowledge of its performance.
The Hunter/Tactician has an edge over its siblings in the manner that its mind processes situations far quicker than its siblings can and adapts its tactics and even its form to the best of its abilities so as to provide the most brutal efficiency the Corporations could ask for. Part of this is due to the fact it is more robot than android, forgoing the personality and covert usefulness of the android for the best offered in robotics. A mind able to process nearly as fast as any of the era’s supercomputers in a moments notice and adapt accordingly.
With the fact of being more robot than android, the Hunter/Tactician is one of the most loyal members of the Corporations, keeping only the corporation’s goals in mind and ensuring they are done through any means necessary, mostly violent means, but effective ones.
With all this the Hunter/Tactician has a general battle prowess only outmatched by the Knight/Assault role, though it does lack specialization. Making the Hunter/Tactician a Master-of-None, but better than a Master-of-One. A Jack-of-all-Trades to put it simply.
With the adaption of its tactics the Hunter/Tactician also has the ability to adapt its structure in mostly minor changes through the use of nano-machines used in building various parts of its body. Allowing it to relocate armor placements, put additional weight into a certain part of its body, and even completely restructure half of an arm or leg to allow for better use in its tactics.
The Hunter/Tactician also has a sort of “Hive-mind” network, though it is in beta-testing, that allows it to connect to various robots acting on behalf of the Corporation in a nearby vicinity, effectively acting as leader of sorts to the other robots. Changing their own tactics and roles to assist in their own.
As noted earlier, the Hunter is more robot than android, forgoing personality and empathy for the most part in favor of classic design systems to achieve a more efficient unit in favor of the Corporation. While this is useful, this does mean that it does not find much use for diplomacy, or covert operations when a straightforward and direct violent act could achieve the same results in a far shorter amount of time.
Another downside to it being almost completely robotic is that it does not take to receiving orders well, acting on the field as a loose-cannon with only the Corporation’s interests in mind. So while this could prove detrimental to any plans not given by the Corporation, any ability to act properly as a squad with anything other than purely robotic units it could spell the demise of the Hunter. But this also gives it the ability to act independently, quickly and efficiently if on-site command has been put out of commission, allowing it to carry on with the mission even if all forms of communication with any sort of command heirarchy have been cut off.
Another thing stated earlier was that the Hunter is a Jack-of-all-Trades, while this is quite advantageous, it does also hinder the Hunter. Much like how if a Seeker were to go against a CQC Android in close-quarters-combat, they would lose. The Hunter may last longer, but ultimately, without assistance they would fail. So not being specialized is not all about the perks cuz where a Master-of-None could beat someone at a game they are not used to, in the game that Master-of-One is king at they would fail.
Another issue with being robotic is that they do weigh more than the normal android due to construction routines used to ensure a stable build for the robot. So this does hinder the movement of the Hunter, restricting its choice of vehicle and various mobility options if not augmented to compensate.
One final downside to the Hunter is that with all its capabilities, it is but a robot. Thus it has a somewhat lower thought-process than an Android with personality, and even with the best internal systems one could find it would be more susceptible to a virus due to its almost simpler programming. While it is still a monumental task to do anything short of disabling the robot, it is more at risk of falling victim to a virus than its siblings.

Okay that about covers it, being honest I’m looking for anywhere from 6-10 people really, a big step for me trying to lead that many on an adventure but hey! Never try, never learn! So please, peruse, say Hi, shout that you’re interested and if you read this far, thank Ye. You’ve earned a whipped cream pie to the face! Oh and a character sheet page if we get people interested, no lore page though! That can be solved with questions and through the RP~ Sorry.

I kinda wanna play a CQC with a chainsword. That sounds intresting.

A Chainsword? While I do love me something brought to us by our great God Emperor, that may not be something that fits into the technology of the time sadly.

It’s late at night and my judgement is incredibly impaired.

I’m down!
Robots? Consider me interested!

Glad to have you two interested!

I'm extremely interested in the Knight slot, if that's still available!

The Knights will most likely be available a lot! But of course! I’ll put you down for one! Glad to have you possibly on board!

I meant something like a chainsaw for an arm but I could use a sword. I specialize in writing a good mix between shooty shooty and stabby stabby.

That could indeed work, we could even make it a concealable weapon built into the arm that when used the arm folds back in transformers fashion to reveal it.
Alrighty, you’re granted clearance soldier. I’ll put you down for a spot.

I'll take a Medic/Hacker role.

Request granted, welcome to the project.

Hey just making sure that’ll you’ll all get a notification stating that we have a CS all ready for your characters a link will be on this post and the main one above.

For Covert missions and the likes yes, though i will admit that most covert missions will have a chance to go off the beaten path. So while you do require a civvie look, technically a mercenary looks civvie. As long as you believe it will fit some way into the populace and not arouse enough suspicion, or look threatening enough to disperse any suspicion. You’ll be good in my books.
But the project is mostly of the Covert or Strike team variety, a populace-blending outfit is often a good idea. But take that as you will, I’ll still grade your CS fairly.

Dr.Nekoshu Dr.Nekoshu , I'm sorry for the change, but unfortunately a few things have come up and I won't have the proper time to join a full group rp at the moment. Thanks so much for considering me, though, and I hope this thread gets a lot more interest!!

That’s perfectly fine and I understand, thank you for letting me know and thank you for giving this a look~!

Yup! By the way are we going to have an OOC chat up and running soon or are we waiting for more people?

I’m planning on making one once I finish up at work in about an hour. So yes we will have one and everyone will be notified of this again. As I like to ensure everyone knows when something is made.

An informational to let you all know that the OOC is up and links can be found at the main post above and in the link below.

Also just a slight check to make sure you are still interested as I believe BobSemple is given his character idea. But I know Remembrance Remembrance chose to join this at a late night so if any of you want to drop this I understand. Oh but yeah original point, waiting on CS’s which the part is up and we have 3 already including mine. Sorry to seem rushed, i’m Just making sure I got an active role here to keep interest up.
