"I sure it would be bad Katie." She says while chuckling at her girlfriend. She was just about to head out and reply to her. When Jasper's voice came through, ordering her to come to HQ. Bexley was missing. She sighed. She switched off her walkie-talkie after telling him she'll be there with Katie. She looked at her sighed. Knowing their alone time was gonna be pushed back some hours or at least until they get this whole mess sorted. Katie saw her hand reached out and she grabbed it softly. Holding tightly like she was going to disappear any second.

"Come on, we've better get to HQ. Jasper called all higher ups. Including Marlene. So I'm not gonna wait for me to get yelled at. " She then kisses her softly and deeply, as she smiled and pulled her along towards the underground opening at the hospital that was kept so nurses and everyone could quickly get to the HQ in an emergency. Rita opens the door and walks in following the path to the underground HQ. She made sure to keep a tight grip on Katie's hand. As not to lose her in this dark tunnel.

She looked back and laughed seeing the dazed look on her face. "Come on. I promise when we have time later I will make it up to you. " Rita just watched her waiting for her to realize that they were in the tunnel.

Marth Flames
comfy-blonde-hair-little-boy-adds-grace-snap-52510.jpg
Marth sniffled. Once more, a nightmare came to the young child. He'd thought he had someone that cared about him. Someone who loved him, whatever that even was. But right as he finally accepted it, The Mistress came back and he was taken away...

The small child couldn't tell the time of day. He hadn't the right to know nor did he. Of course, through his whimpers and pitiful cries he hadn't heard the locks being moved. Only when the doorway opened up and some form of gray daylight came in did the little one look that way. Cowering to the back wall, Marth dragged the chain on his leg with him as much as his small body could as he cowered, ready for a beating for attracting attention to his 'Home'. Scratch that. The Mistress's warehouse.

With partially adjusted eyes, Marth saw someone new. He didn't know them but he knew what to do. Wiping his eyes, the child stood up and stumbled a bit from his weak legs not wanting to support his small, meager weight as he looked at the person he could only assume was a man and he coughed.

"I-I sawwie sir."
The quiet, unused voice began. "You must know The Mistress... Wight?" Marth asked the man, cowering as he removed stuff from himself, setting it onto the cold concrete floor. "i Sawwie if i offended yew!" A quick bow led to the child falling on his face, smacking his head against the floor. His back scabs broke open in a few areas but he managed to stand upright once more. "I can nawt weave without her allowance? I am vewy sawwie sir." The kid hoped he used the right words. Coughing again, the spasms almost knocked the skeleton child over again. A gentle breeze from outside of the room entered, passing the newcomer and hitting Marth, sending his torn garments onto his body. Was there even a body there? That would be a question asked by any who saw him.

Moving his chained foot, the kid wasn't smart enough to realize he was thin enough to slip free of said chain if he tilted his foot right. Or was it the fact he knew better than not to do so? Marth knew it was the latter one though he knew naught on the first. "Hey little man, I'm not gonna hurt you. I promise." The man said. Believing this to be a dream, Marth went closer to the person, half obscured by the blinding light behind him. If it was a dream, he wouldn't be punished as much right? He was far too young and not educated enough to sort out dream from reality based on still feeling pain. "Y-Yew pwomise...?" The frail tyke asked, inching yet a bit closer before he stopped dead. "I-i can nawt weave sir... I am nawt aloud. I-I so sawwie... Forgive me mister." Marth whispered, backing up again as he hugged his knees to his ribcage, underneath his clothes as he cried softly in his misery. He knew better than to even think of leaving. The punishment he'd get would have him forced awake just to receive even more from his cruel owner. He never fought back because it was all he ever knew. It was all his fault he got hit because he made The Mistress upset with him. So he never thought it was wrong because to him, it was always right.

Theodore "Teddy" Ashworth
with: Bexley Bellz Bellz , Rhett/northern scouts ReverseTex ReverseTex , Doctor Salazar shadowz1995 shadowz1995
location: Northern Territory (en route to Khal)

Teddy was submerged in the heat of the vehicle, and for a few moments it wore on him just as fiercely as the cold - another shock, rather than respite. It was a good while before it managed to relieve him of his shuddering, and to ease over him with gentler touch. The snow in his hair and in his beard began to melt, and he sat, tense and taut as a bowstring - a stone by Bexley's side.

He could practically feel her stewing, the gears in her head turning audibly - grinding and building up until she had to let out some steam. He knew her too well not to see her next sharp words coming. Leave it to Bexley to have the guts to accuse the very leader of the people they did not previously know existed, who were currently holding them all but hostage, of taking down one of her men. He guessed she had chosen to go the honest route, already demonstrating that she had men to command, and was someone important back home. Maybe it wasn't so much of a decision but a voicing of what was already obvious. Anyone with eyes could see that she was the one with the authority between them.

Teddy let out a breath as Bex's hand grazed his - a burn, something close to a brand. He had to move or else he might break, sitting so still, so confined. It was nothing, and yet it was the first time he had touched her in ten years. He shut down that train of thought as soon as it arrived, running his hand down through his beard and up through his hair, the dark strands damp against his wide, raw hands - fidgeting so he wouldn't do something he might regret.

His eyes locked onto the Leader of the North, on the smile that had formed over his fine features as he began to respond to Bexley's edged inquiry. He couldn't help but marvel once more at how well the man spoke, how odd and slightly awe-inspiring the entire situation was. There weren't meant to be people here, and yet there were, and they were just as civilized, just as fruitful, from what he could see, as those on his side of the wall. Teddy's thoughts were cut short as the man with the wolfish smile so easily dug into their lives and demonstrated his findings. He was intelligent then, most likely much more intelligent than he. He wasn't surprised. It was only an extension of the obvious.

The words, "...similar to the Old World." in reference to his own appearance struck him a bit roughly. He suddenly thought of his brothers, of his mother. They wouldn't even know that he was gone. He had no one else. They were relics of the Old World, all of them, even Teddy, who had been young when the world fell before his eyes.

He tried to clear his throat before speaking, his voice returning to him, with an albeit ungainly manner.

"Is Khal a city? A fortress?" There was more he wanted to ask, but he declined. He wanted to know something of what exactly they were getting into. There were too many missing pieces to the puzzle. He and Bexley might as well have crash landed on a distant, alien world. He didn't say anything to confirm or deny the man's observations. He seemed certain in them regardless. Teddy's eyes kept sliding back to the long-haired doctor, the slightest bit unnerved.

Bexley was just now beginning to notice the warmth in the car as the silver hair man turned to her, offering a warm grin. She refused to smile or even blink in return as she simply listened to what the man had to say. Her patience was wearing awfully thin, as she listened to his slow and calculating voice when a sudden movement from Teddy sent her attention to him momentarily, he had moved his hand. This did not go unnoticed by the woman as she respectfully gave the Ice King the attention he thought he deserved, her heart ached. Bexley wasn't a fool, right now, she would have to face her own fears of talking to the man who had taken her small innocent heart and crushed it like a flower petal. She had been a beautiful wild flower as a young girl, always adventurous, easy going...blowing in whatever direction the wind took her. But those delicate petals didn't last long as the clouds formed over what she thought could be her only sunshine. Her petals wilted and fell to the ground....only leaving a stem of what Bex once was.

Her interested was peaked as the silver haired man began to analyze them as if they were parasites under a microscope. She wasn't sure how he did it, but her mind sent up red flags again as the man identified that she must have been into old westerns....

A young wide eyed Bexley stared at the TV screen with rapt interest as the one and only Clint Eastwood kicked the butt in the movie "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly." She cheered as he kicked another guys butt and her cowboy hat that had been secured on her head with a string around her chin feel back and off of her head with the motion. "BANG BANG BANG" Bexley giggled as her father walked into the room, just in time to see his daughter point a toy gun at him. "OH NO!" He cried out, pretending to be shot. "You have ruined me again Eastwood!" He fell to the ground as Bexley raised over to him and climbed on top of his chest, giggling happily as they wrestled on the floor.

Bexley blinked as the memory suddenly faded and let her return to reality. Just in time to catch Teddy's questions, her eyes sideswiped to look his way and she nodded slowly. She too was curious to know about this place the Ice King called Khal...Her eyes looked out the window. She couldn't believe all the snow here...Before she could help herself, the woman piled two more question on top of Teddy's. "How long have you been here? And what's with all the snow?" Bexley had always wondered why the weather had been affected...perhaps the Ice King would know...after all he was the ruler of this land, he must knew what made it tick in order to be an adequate one. She wanted to go home...back to the sun in the sky and the green on the earth. Heading deeper into the frozen tundra, she knew she wouldn't be getting that anytime soon. Her eyes went back to Teddy...It may not be the ideal situation and he may have hurt her. But unfamiliarity scared Bexley, and he was more than just familiar....he was more than just home and she wished she could hold onto the only part of home she had left.

As her thoughts wandered still, she knew that Jasper must have been furious with her foolishness. The man always claimed the only reason he accepted the position of Co-head because Bexley was "reckless" but the woman knew that probably wasn't the only reason behind it. Jasper was a leader whether he liked to believe it or not, she had faith in him where he seemed to lack, and in return he did the same. He was the Tonto to her Lone Ranger...she just hoped the bird wasn't too angry with her.

Garret knew by just looking at him that the boy been abusing. By this Mistress he keeps hearing. It takes everything for him not to show his anger. This little boy was under the protection of the west. Of him and he failed. He failed him. He's not about to do it again. He slowly comes closer and sits by the boy. Trying not to spook him. He spoke to him as softly as you would a baby. Which he still was. "I promise. Little man, how does some food sound? New clothes too. Your Mistress won't ever know. " She won't live too, once I get my hands on her. He thinks to himself

"I know you are scared right now but I swear to you. I won't let anything happen to you. " Garret says as the little boy just starts crying. He didn't want to spook him but he had to get him out there. So he slowly looked at the chain and saw that if he just moved his little foot. He could be free. "You could live with me. You won't ever get hit. I'm not a meanie. You just have to trust me baby boy. " He held out his hand to the boy. He knew that he had to keep his promises and he will.

All Garret knew is that his life changed once he saw him. Now, this little boy is like him, unsure of everything around him. He's gonna be there for him like someone was there for him.

Doctor Ivan Salazar

The doctor was the physical embodiment of silence during the majority of the car ride. The words that the lambs asked along with the calculated responses of The Wolf did not go unheard but rather unrecognized. At least, not immediately..... The hooded man was quickly tempted to put a bullet in the woman's lung to stop her from talking. She wouldn't die while he was around.... immediately. It was the way she spoke, as if she was not aware of her own situation and Ivan had a hard time stomaching the noisy ones. So, Ivan had an idea that was pretty much a win-win for him. Because the woman would either shut up.... or.....

As the neared the compound, the doctor unholstered his Berreta and pulled back on the slide of the weapon, chambering the first 9 millimeter round with the tell tale click of a firearm being loaded. He said nothing for a few seconds, merely having the weapon in his hand. Then he slowly turned his grey colored ire onto the lambs... mainly the woman since she seemed to be the one with most lip.
"Escucha Niña.... The only reason you draw breath is because that man," the doctor indicated to fur clad diplomat, "Told me not to. Because he wishes to... speak with you or something." The searching, inquisitive gaze of the man when he examined the woman's wound was no longer there. It was now replaced by his default emotion. Cold, calculating indifference. It was clear that it was the wound, not the woman, that caused his curiosity and even then it was but a fleeting moment. The injury, not the individual. "If it were up to me, a bullet would have gone through your head and two through your legs." The spanish man indicated with a nod to Bex then Teddy respectively. "The man I would take alive. They take longer to break under my t-" Then suddenly, the doctor's robotic stare became amused as he executed his simple plan.

"Lobo Del Norte, instead of sending them into the pits if they misbehave.... How about you give them to me? It has been a long while since you have sent me healthy human test subjects for my experiments. Im sure you have plenty of fighters for entertainment. This will benefit both of us if it speeds the process to...." grey eyes turned back to the potential test subjects before locking with the wolf's once again, "the thing that will benefit your people the most." The southerners could probably put together what he was talking about loosely but they could never be sure unless someone directly told them of course. It was a statement with a multiple meaning. It would only benefit the people of Khal served to mildly cause doubt of a cure in the southerners while reinforcing what The Wolf already knew. That because Khal assisted Salazar in synthesizing the cure all of these years, of course they would have first dibs. Khal would be the first and possibly last colony to no longer live in paralyzed fear of infection. Once word got out, people would flock to them, begging for it. Ivan was sure that Rhett would find such.... sway over the survivors of the world to be...

Beneficial

And of course, Salazar could live out the remainder of his years as the one who eliminated the plague and in security. After all, they would need him to continue synthesizing the cure and he would only ever make just enough. Never more. A check and balance system so that he isnt raided for it. I scratch your back and you scratch mine.

Ivan's life was halfway over and he needed to take every opportunity he could get to make advancements. He would not let death take him until he finished this fight against the virus he created. Humanity could not afford the luxuries of morality. To defeat the monsters permanently, you had to become a monster.

Luckily, Doctor Salazar was born with such a heart.

"Believe me, little lambs..." he said softly to the foreigners. His dialect making the words sound even more ominous, " You will prefer fighting to the death in the pits than being in a pit of death with me..."

"Does this sound good, yes?"
He turned again to Rhett, the dead look taking his expression again.

Rhett turnwd his head to the doctor, his face still warm, but his eyes sharper than a knife. He tolerated this man, just like the rest of Khal did. The doctor knew his place, and he was overstepping. “You will not do such thing. These folks are our guests, have you forgotten chivalry? Number one rule of hosting; do not let your guest die under or within your casa.” His use of spanish was both a silent insult, as well as the nail in the coffin. He was done with the doctor.

Turning to the southern man next, he smiled and nodded. “Khal is a city. It’s majority is underground, converted old world subway tunnels and stations. However, some of the upper city is still used. You two will be escorted by the scout to your chambers, and given proper clothing. Then you’ll meet me back up at the War Room, which you will see when we arrive. After that, we’ll attend to the Pits, you’ll be escorted back to your quarters, and the day will be over.” Satisfied with his answer, as well as itinerary, he turned back to the woman.

We’ve been here as long as the skins crawlers have. Just like you I suppose... Anyhow, the snow. From my understanding, and with the recovery of military files, that it was the governments doing. In a attempt to kill or stop all the skin crawlers, they thought dropping a sub-zero hydrogen bomb would do... Well they were quite wrong.”

The War Room was in sight now, the glorious cathedral standing it amongst the snow-wasteland. The caravan crawled to a stop, his door was opened, and he exited the car. Lee was already out of the car, his helmet clicked onto his belt, and his eyes narrowed in disagreement. Stepping towards him, he lowered his voice only allowing the scout to hear. “Take then to the apartment district, and find a empty one. Have someone get them furs, and whatever they like. Bring them back up here once you’re done.” Turning back to the southerners he smiled, waved, and dissapeared into the War Room.

Theodore "Teddy" Ashworth
with: Bexley Bellz Bellz , Rhett/Lee ReverseTex ReverseTex , Doctor Salazar shadowz1995 shadowz1995
location: Northern Territory (arriving in Khal)
Teddy's attention was drawn harshly with the familiar sound of a firearm being loaded. The few unnerved glances that he had previously sent the Doctor's way turned to a solid steel glare, and without thinking, he extended his arm out in front of Bexley. Muscles tense, his expression was almost a dare - eyes that could so easily turn youthful and boyish turned hard and goading. He didn't think to care whether he got himself shot, or if he had subsequently ticked Bexley off by coming to her defense. Here, Teddy had no patience, no tolerance for a deliberate shift in the tide. The Doctor was up for making explicit threats, so he was going to prove a point. Not all was as the smooth, fine words of the Leader of the North might suggest. It was the grit and edge beneath that really concerned them.

Teddy seemed to subtly grow in size with his hardly corralled anger, the doctor's words acting as tinder in the furnace. There was no sense of control to be found here - dragged into the wolves' den. He would cling to whatever it was he could. Teddy didn't have a quick tongue or a mind built for strategy, but he had his strength and his resolve, and that would have to be enough. The world had built him tough, and it was a good thing that it did. He could hardly ever feel thankful for his hardships, but it was times like these where all seemed to be put into a different light.

"If it were up to me, a bullet would have gone through your head and two through your legs... The man I would take alive. They take longer to break under my t-"

"Watch your fucking mouth, hombre." They were hardly words - a low growl from deep in his chest. He was much more a great bear than a "little lamb." Lambs went willingly to the slaughter, and where Bexley was concerned, he almost wanted to laugh at the prospect.

He can damn well try. Try and take her, try and hurt her - if he made it out he wouldn't be taking me alive to whatever fucked up lab he crawled out of.

The amused glint in the Doctor's eyes set his teeth on edge. He jaw was set tight, his arm still protectively posed in front of Bexley, a shield, a warning. He listened as the Doc made his proposition to the well-mannered man at his side. Teddy was both comprehending and lost on what it was he meant, though the implications didn't slide past him unnoticed. He wasn't completely hopeless in that capacity - not just a brute with a sense of humor and little else, contrary to popular belief.

As the Leader of the North began to respond, discouraging of the future the Doctor had proposed, Teddy began to slowly ease - though not by much. As the silver-haired man's word towards him turned to finality, as if the matter was truly ended, Teddy's arm fell back to his side, shifting slightly. He grasped Bex's hand where it rested, uncaring about what pretense she might've wanted to keep at bay. It was all he could do now- the smallest hang in there, don't let them get to you, that he could provide. If the brush of contact was close to a brand before, it was more so now.

The steel in Teddy's expression loosened a fraction when met with the Leader of the North's pleasant smile and countenance. He was diverted from his misgivings for a brief time, enraptured as he answered their questions. Only one solid thought occurred to him.

What happens after the day is over?

Dread settled in Teddy's chest as his continued to speak. Apparently not even the cold or the ice could kill the skin-crawlers, could impede the ever-returning swarm. Their shuddering, creaking, lumbering forms fleetingly came before his eyes. He blinked them away.

They had seemingly arrived at their destination, and as the doors opened, bringing his attention, the sight that met him almost took the breath from his lungs all over again. He gaped for a moment, stunned by the imposing, though queerly, unnervingly beautiful form of what he recognized to be a cathedral. The old urge to cross over his chest, like his mother used to do in his youth, came upon him, but he squashed the thought, returning to himself.

He warily climbed out of the hummer, his boots meeting the ground, the cold ensnaring him again. The wind surged, though it might as well have been meeting an oak tree.

There was the scout again, now with his helmet removed. It made all the difference to Teddy to be able to see a man's eyes, to gauge his actions. He grimly awaited what was to come.

Bexley had been stunned into silence as the seemingly harmless doctor when off of her, going as far as the threaten Teddy's life as well as her own. Her blood began to boil just looking at the guy, it wasn't like she didn't have a gun on her , her pistol that her father had left behind when he went to the meeting with the East aways strapped to her thigh holster. She did not make a move for it however, knowing when to pick and choose her battles that she would win, although she clearly heard the loading of a weapon well before the man spoke. Bexley was confident that the "Wolf of the North." As the doctor referred to him as, wouldn't let this man get away with the sick twisted shit he seemed to already be planning for Bex.

Teddy's arm was suddenly crossed around her body and his voice had taken a tone that she wasn't all too familiar with. Bexley watched with wide aquamarine eyes as the man who had crushed her previous existence like a bug came to her defense, and foolishly so. Bexley tensed her body as his words came out as a growly warning, making him seem like the Bear he had always been. Bexley watched his jaw set and her breathing practically stopped. Bexley was all one for going "gun-ho." and to just start shooting up a place with no questions asked...but this Doctor...didn't seem to be in the right frame of mind as the rest of the world. But the Silver Wolf seemed to be on their side....at least at the moment, coming to their aid and tell the doctor he would do no such thing and that they were guests. Bexley could have snorted openly at this, guest receive invitations and are allowed to chose whether they stay or go....cut the bullshit wolfy. Her pessimistic mind thought as she looked out the window once more, trying to control the anger she knew was eventually going to make itself known.. It was threatening to boil and rise over when Teddy seemed to take the lid off of her when taking her hand in his. The first official contact in ten years...and his hand were just as rough and as warm as the first day they held hands. Visibly, Teddy would be able to see Bexley relax and her eyes sideswipe his way, catching a curious glance. She was still very much upset with him...but they needed to stick together. Bexley tried to listen with interest to his explanation of the snow, the answer seemed more obvious than she would have thought. Freezing them out was definitely an option....why hadn't she ever thought of that before? Her face fell slightly as he revealed that it clearly hadn't worked because they were all stuck in this mess still. When he got out of the car, it was clear that the three other occupants were going to be hesitant. Teddy stepped out first and headed into the freezing air, she watched him stare up at the old cathedral in awe and for a moment she couldn't help but admire his personality.

Anything amazed Teddy, and that's what she had loved about him all those many years ago. He looked at this chaotic world with such a fresh young and vibrant outlook, that it was like the sun had personally fell to earth, taking the end of the world and for the first time...making it look like a beginning. A small smirk fell upon her lips and her eyes softened at the sight, but the moment only lasted as long as her thoughts allowed...as her fire returned to her despite the frigid air blowing in from the open car door.

"You may have all the makings of a monster Doctor...but all I see before me is somewhat of another wolf afraid of a wee lil lamb." Bexley looked the man dead in the face, her expression dark, calculating and most definitely threatening. "I'd do as your Alpha tells you pup. Or you are gonna learn that looks can be just as deceiving as words...for you aren't staring at a little lamb. I am a Lion...and we may be in your world now...You haven't seen anything like my jungle." Bexley moved to get out of the car, hopping out hearing the crunch of snow and ice beneath her boots. She was just about to leave it at that...just about to be satisfied that she had looked out for herself ...but there was someone else who needed to be protected...someone who didn't hesitate to state that he was siding with her. Turning on her heels to face the inside of the car again she looked to the spanish man one more time before smiling widely, it was a sweet smile one that felt foreign on her normally stoic face. "Oh and one more thing, El Cucuy... " Her tone clearly mocking him and his accent. "We may not be from the same faction but we are from the south, therefore right now he is under my protection. You may have a little frost in your bite Doctor...but southern fire burns hot and white and I will make sure you burn if you threaten my people again.” With a wink, she turned around and strode towards Teddy, not waiting for the man to say anything in return...for she didn't give a shit what he had to say. Teddy was still looking up at the cathedral as she stopped in the snow beside him.

"Its beautiful." She said to him lightly, her hand moving to gently graze his arm...telling him that she thanked him for supporting her back there.

A dream was all that was going on for the boy. There was no way these promises could be reality was there? Marth just cried. "I dun want fewd!" He lashed out before sliding away a bit, just out of reach from the man while he sat, the chain links clinking as the child went. He couldn't register the kindness coming from this man but he felt different from the few people he had met. The tears coming from his face highlighted his bruised self, the dirt being made a darker brown from the despair.

Coughing again, the child put himself upright and just cried softly still. minutes? hours? Millennia? Some form of time passed until the man said "You could live with me. You won't ever get hit. I'm not a meanie. You just have to trust me baby boy." The child focused on the word Trust. The Mistress had told him to trust her before. That was back when he had nearly died from stepping outside. He loved it. Chased a butterfly right into the oncoming Mistress who ripped up the beautiful animal and told him it had been someone trying to take him away to somewhere where no one would love him like she did. But... The man had said it so differently from his master, Marth stopped crying for a moment and just looked at him with his dull eyes.

Then something the kid didn't even understand himself happened. He bolted to the stranger as quick as he could. A 3/4th-eaten piece of bread fell from his little arms and lay on the ground, covered in a bit of dirt. All the food he had left in his possession. Hugging the man with thin, weak arms, the kid cried openly. His movements had broken more scabs on his body but what Marth felt now was something he couldn't understand. Something he never knew. But whatever this feeling was, Marth knew in his instincts he received from nature that the feeling was good. That this man. This unknown stranger, was good. He wouldn't go back on his word. And so the tyke cried.Tears fell into open wounds making him cry more and when he had no tears left, he soon felt sleep come as a gentle nudge instead of sleep coming like a bee sting in the dead of summer.

Easton Davis

Louisiana had left his cramped and dusty chamber in the Saloon expecting an ordinary reconnaissance no different than the countless others he had performed days prior. He'd had a modest breakfast consisting a single can of beans -- coupled with a mug of bland beer -- before putting on his worn Stetson and holstering a revolver of his. The revolver he kept no matter where he ventured was followed by a 10/22 rifle, which he put on his shoulder. Lastly, the lone scout put on the crimson-coloured wild rag he'd never abandon, as it was the last reminder of his scorching journey from the beloved Covington all the way to the distant and alien New York City. He'd looked in the mirror for a brief moment, sighed, and finally begun the scouting.

The vicious Skin Crawlers had been driven away from the populated districts by the time Easton made his way into the concrete jungle by the so-called fists of the four factions -- scouts. Unlike ravaged Covington, the streets of this City were either roamed by living albeit armed pedestrians or breezed by the warm winds. This little fact was the sole reason why the scout was surprised to see one of the infected ones ambling on the empty road aimlessly. He chuckled and took out his walkie-talkie all the while keeping a proper distance.

"Louisiana. One crawler on the cross between Midtown and Upper. Takin' the bud out," he reported and put the receiver away. It's important to point out the man thought of himself as a seasoned gunslinger, not a coward hiding behind the every cover imaginable, hence his unique way of challenging the crawlers with a fast draw. He drew his attention the moment he stopped in the middle of the road and exclaimed.
"I ain't no threat buddy, come and get me!" he shouted, ready to draw.

The crawler was alarmed in no time, and charged at Easton the next moment, making a loud shriek and leaving blood trails behind in the process. Easton feared not, he only smiled and raised his arm, putting the rifle against his shoulder and aiming at the skinless cannibal.
"Just a lil closer," he whispered, about to pull the trigger and release a deadly bullet.
Then, the moment came. The crawler had got close enough. Before the infected one could clasp and bite the scout, however, Easton quickly pulled the trigger a couple of times, making a series of precise and loud shots that all landed on the crawler's torso, tearing it apart in seconds.
The scout chuckled as soon as the lifeless infected collapsed, and reported once again.
"Louisiana. Upper's clear, goin' back," he reported to the co-head and sighed in relief. He'd looked over his shoulder to make sure no others were alarmed if any were in the vicinity before heading off.

Frankly, the journey back to the underground complex was relatively short and boring thanks to the lack of life outside. On his way there the only noteworthy thing that had happened to him was him receiving a message from the headquarters. The messenger had ordered all the scouts to abandon their activities, report their findings and whereabouts, and return to the headquarters to join a meeting of tremendous importance. He had left the rifle in his pitiful apartment before arriving at the designated spot in the headquarters.
"Ran as fast as I could pal, had a lil gunfight at Upper West. Ain't a problem no more," he stated and took off his hat. "Now, I wouldn't mind a cigarette or two. Some folks got shitty legs."

Doctor Ivan Salazar

Grey eyes slid slowly to the side as he stared silently at The North Wolf. The doctor had half a mind to remind him that he does not give orders to him in any way, shape, or form but that would be an unwise move. A move for the impulsive, hot headed, and prideful. Snapping back at the man would only embolden the lambs before him, one of which quickly jumped to the defense of the other. He spoke in a rough, gravelly voice that might intimidate others but the only reaction it got from Ivan was an uninterested stare.

When they finally arrived and left the vehicle, Salazar slowly undid the seal on his mask. He simultaneously pulled the hood and mask off so that his visage was now in full sight. An aging man with a look as dead as a morgue. He was no aware that the southerners didn't know spanish, mere words here and there, and so the Doctor called out to the Wolf as he walked away, "
Esto no es mi casa, Lobo. No te olvides de eso. No te eches a ladrar con migo, Cachorro." With that stated, the doctor turned around to see the woman glaring daggers at him. The reaction was, once again, non-existant. Even when she threw a jab at how Rhett tried to snap at him. Even when she mocked his accent. Even when she threatened him with metaphorical fire. Bored was the expression the doctor's face showed. Eyelids drooped lazily halfway as the woman went on and it almost seemed like he was falling asleep but in reality, this woman just bored the hell out of him. The amount of pride she displayed only revealed her weakness.... "Did my words truly hurt you so much that you must bore me with your pathetic attempt to make me angry?"

He walked up to the woman, past her, to stand beside the awestricken male southerner, joining him in looking up at the cathedral. Though their reactions were hilariously polar opposites of each other.

"Let me teach you something, Niña. When something hurts you, do not show it. You only reveal to el enimgo that their attack was a success. I now know that you are a proud woman, who doesn't like to be belittled and is quick to snap back. Prone to outbursts no matter if her safety," the man indicated with his drawn pistol to Teddy, " or the safety of those who try to protect her are on the line. You have also revealed that you are very protective of your people. Noble but ultimately foolish to show me that you care so much. Now, I know where to hit you so it really hurts.

You are a strong woman. So hurting you would achieve minimal results.....

......."
There was a moment of silence before the doctor reholstered his Berreta and turned to wait for the second-in-command of Khal to arrive. A much more tolerable human being than Rhett. At least they could hold a conversation without toeing the line of nice words and veiled insults.

"And you have shown me all of this because you gave in to provocation." Salazar's gaze then slipped to Teddy out of the corner of his eye, "And you have shown me that you two have some history. That protective.... yet nervous way you look at the woman. So quick to jump to her aid."

"This is a courtesy warning for how things work here, little lambs. That kindness and pride stays on the other side of the wall. Here, it will only bring you pain."

"Good luck.... Leona"

The doctor began striding through the snow, the miniature icicles crunching under his boots as he stood to wait for Violette and the Lead scout that was under the doctor's watchful eye moments ago.

Avalon Dalton

Avalon eyes were burning imaginary holes into the mist as she tried to see anything past the view clouding barrier. Andy's voice was a faint mumble in the background as she gripped the handle of her pistol. Where the hell were they? Avalon moved slightly to her right, trying to find any let up in the fog. Nothing was there. Bexley and Kyle and completely disappeared into the unknown below. The faint sound of voices she didn't recognize and...engines? Hold on...were there vehicles down there? Vehicles meant people and people meant..."Shit." Avalon ran a hand through her hair and down her face, beginning the pace rather fast. This was not good. They could be hurt or....no, she didn't want to think about that. They couldn't be. They're not.

A whooshing sound caught her attention. Ava's pacing stopped as her eyes caught sight of f figure hurtling up the wall. Avalon jump sideways as Kyle's form landed atop it. Andy was quick to jump on him, already asking where the others were. Avy's eyes returned to the mist for a moment hoping, no, praying that Bexley come hurtling up in the next moments. When she didn't and the sound of engines was beginning to fade Avalon could've hit something. Andy was saying something about going back home and Avalon was only just registering Jasper's voice through her walkie. Home. They..they needed to regroup, plan. But every moment spent away from this wall was another moment that Bexley was in possible danger. Avalon tore her eyes away from the fog.

"Are you okay?" Avalon looked Kyle up and down, searching for any signs of injury. There were only a few spots she picked up on. They needed to get Kyle back to Ellie and get back to Jasper. Avalon sighed and holstered her pistol. "Yeah." She said in answer to Andy, "We need to get back and he needs to see Ellie." Avalon turned to Kyle and stared him down for a moment, "No complaining. I want to stay here as bad as you but that's not a good idea right now."

Avalon pulled her walkie from its place on her belt and radioed in to Jasper, "This is Jessie James to Jas, we're gonna head back. Things down here are going to shit." Avalon decided to inform Ellie of Kyle's situation, "Ellie, Kyle's hurt. We're gonna need you, do you copy? Over."

The silence was overwhelming, aside from the humming of the Humvee. She hated the quietness, especially in a city like Khal. The driver hadn't said a word aside from a greeting and looked on ahead, focusing. She wondered if he was intimidated by her or perhaps Lee since he was one of the best on the team. The younger scout, on the other hand was still fairly young, perhaps a few years younger than her - if not a teenager. Maybe if she ever saw the same scout, she could address him, but another time.

After what seemed like eternity - though, it was perhaps only five minutes or less - Lee's voice echoed inside the vehicle, sending shivers down her spine and made goosebumps on her skin. Nevertheless, her attention was drawn directly back towards Lee and never wavered. Usually, unfortunately, there were times when Violette would have more than ten things in her head as well as the person's voice reporting to her. But, this time, it was just Lee's voice in her head. Her brows furrowed when she Lee disagreed that there would ever be a cure, calling it insanity - including the Doctoer himself.

Something inside her stirred and didn't sit right with her, hearing his explanation of the reason he didn't believe. Insanity continued to ring in her ears as her eyes tore away from his, only to look at her hands as if inspecting it. "You make it sound as if all hope is lost and it is absurd to believe, but what is life without a little bit of hope or a spontaneous leap of faith? Live day in and day out just to survive like mindless beings? There has to be more than this, beyond all of this. The little birds who have flown too far have proved this. Anything is possible with one simple slip, a mistake. You have seen that first-hand with this drug. If not a cure, then something of use that can kill the side effects of the want to kill." Violette retorted, her voice rising slightly higher, a burning passion being slowly ignited that she didn't know she had. "These are all of our people, skinwalkers or not, they once had a life, like us. They deserve a second chance just as much as some of us had." She finished, a soft sigh escaping her lips as she bit her lips, her hands shaking only for her to disregard them, placing them under her legs to hide it away.

Her belief was shaken and Violette could only close her eyes, taking a deep breath as she reeled in whatever emotions she allowed to display. It was a first for her to speak to Lee in such a way, but in some ways, it was bittersweet. He thought differently, but he allowed her to seep inside his mind to see what he really felt. Perhaps she was holding onto a lost cause but time and time again, the Doctor had proved that there was progress, an experiment he continuously worked to hard to succeed. Nevertheless, her attention drew back onto Lee as he continued to answer her questions. Violette nodded in agreement, Khal was home - it was his and it was hers. Khal took her in when no one else accepted her. She was given a second chance and she couldn’t have been more grateful. The cold was comforting - a beauty that not many could grasp or understand. However, hearing that Lee didn’t think of the warmth of the sun and the droplets of rain against his skin proved to her that perhaps she wasn’t in her right mind. Lee had only been living day in and day out of what was expected of him and what he could comprehend. How could she fault him for not having hope or a leap of faith? Perhaps those books has done nothing but added confusion in her head, making her look crazy - or rather insane.

The bird that flew into Khal - were they fiends or foes? They have already taken something from her and it was ignorance that she could dare to dream when there were important matters at hand. How could she have been so blind and only thought of life beyond the walls when she had everything she needed in Khal? People who looked towards her to succeed or fail. When the exotic birds fly back home tomorrow perhaps things would go back to the way it should be and she would not have false hopes or thoughts that should not be exposed.

At the mention of alcohol, Violette couldn’t help but form a small smile on her face. How long has it been since she had some? Her eyes glanced back towards Lee, taking in his appearance as much as she could as she silently sat in the back. A few moment passed and they had finally arrived in front of the cathedral. Violette hadn’t bothered getting out first, instead, she observed from inside as The Northern Wolf, the Doctor, and the two exotic birds stepped out of the Humvee. Her eyes scanned their silhouettes even more, still feeling as if they looked familiar though she never had seem them before. But, without further ado, Violette got out of the Humvee right after Lee. She waited patiently as she didn’t want to disturb the transaction between both The Northern Wolf and Lee. Once The Northern Wolf headed towards the cathedral and inside, Violette stepped up next to him, taking in a deep breath, ”I am sorry. I should not have said that to you. If I have upset you in any way, let me make it up to you. A bottle on me, how does that sound? If the answer is yes, I will be awaiting your call. If it is no, I understand and I will leave you alone.” And with that, Violette slyly slipped a tiny hand-made snowglobe into his hands before moving pass him towards the opposite direction. Taking out her radio and comms, Violette took a deep breath before speaking in the comms that were linked to her, Inej, and Ajan, her voice clear with clarity and a hint of calmness, ”Inej, Ajan, Trinity here. If you hear me and are free, you both should head inside the War Room where The Northern Wolf is located.” She finished before knitting her brows together, seeing the Doctor’s berretta aimed at one of the birds, slightly hearing the words being transpired between the Doctor and the birds. Walking towards him, she greeted him, “Doctor Salazar.” Her eyes trained on the Doctor’s before they glanced back at the two exotic birds once more, wondering the conversations that had been said. It surely looked quite fun in her eyes but returning her gaze back to the Doctor, she tilted her head to the side. ”Were you having fun without me, Doctor? Anything peaked your interest with them? I am glad you have graced us with your presence. We must discuss some things. I am curious of the results you have accomplished. Shall we?” She asked, signaling him to walk with her inside the cathedral.

Lee couldn’t help but smile at Violettes retort about his world views, he always enjoyed someone with fire in their belly. Dipping his head to the floor, making his grin invisible to the woman in the back, knowing she’d most likely rip him a new one if she saw his amusement...

But the remainder of the ride was silent, quite fine with him, but silent. It wasn’t until he had exited the car and made his way to open her door, in which he found her already out of the humvee. Allowing her to get close to him, he awkwardly looked down, careful not to place a hand on her. But he couldn’t help but smile at her quick words, taking up his drink offer, as well as handing him a small snow-globe. Just as quick as the moment occurred, it ended, and he was left to be ordered by Rhett.

Once Rhett had finished his speech, Lee looked down at the small globe. It was clearly hand-made, but very intriquite in design. Shaking it gently, mesmerized like a child for a brief moment, before realizing he was to escort the southerners. Dammit. Tucking the snowglobe within a coat pocket, he turned towards the two birds, fully focused now.

Since we’re gonna be stuck with each other, might as well be as friendly as possible eh? Names Lee Danvers.” Snapping his fingers, he stepped out of the way allowing the two southerners to pass in front of him, allowing him behind the two. “Now if ye’ don’t want me to call ye’ birdies, or dumbfucks, I suggest ye’ tell me you’re names.” The main entrance tunnel into Khal was in sight, and he continued with a chuckles “Word of advice. Avoid that damn doctor at all costs, he’s no better than the damn skin crawlers... And also, we aren’t all as bad as him.” And with that, the three were engulfed by the familiar shadows of Khal.

Garret didn't know what to do. He's never dealt with this kind of situation before. Or if he has, he wouldn't know. The boy was trying to be good. He doesn't know that this isn't right. It's wrong on how's he has been living. He looked at the dull eyes of a boy who wasn't suppose to have eyes like that. He stared back showing him complete honesty and truth. Next thing he knew, the boy was up and jumped on him.

Garret held him tightly and close. He held him, and let him cry. He felt as he cried and cried. He knew he wouldn't let anything happen to him. This little boy was his, the moment he held him in our arms. He felt the little boy relaxed and start to breathe in softly. He was asleep, so Garret would make his move now. He slowly moves around, and he grabs the boy's foot carefully. He moved his foot, outta of the cuff softly. He then rises up carefully holding little man in his arms.

Garret grabbed his handgun and put them in his holster. He then picked up his walkie-talkie, carefully switching it on. "Jasper or Bexley. Whoever is in the medical now. I need them now! I found something and it's bad. On the way to HQ. " He put the walkie-talkie back. He then started to walk to the HQ carefully. He tried to move very carefully. So he wouldn't wake up the little boy in his arms.

Kyle was in shock. His mom was gone. The woman who raised him was down there, he didn't know if she was safe or if she was alright. He was tossed up in the air and landed back with the others. Some woman touched him but he didn't even realize she was speaking until Ava took him and shook him a bit. Asking if he was ok, and he looked at Ava with broken eyes. "I-I-I think I sprained my ankle when I jumped down. " The ankle in question was throbbing silently.

He then looked at everyone and added "There are people other there. Looks like a whole different place. I could see a city but not much else. They sent me back to deliver a message. They took Mum and that east dude. Something about talking to them. They said that they would be brought back this time tomorrow. " He rushed out quickly and then looked at Ava who said something that in his current state, he wouldn't handle well.

"No. Listen to me Ava, I'm not fucking leaving this place until my mother comes back. I am not. You could try to drag me back but I will find some way to get back here. I don't give a flying shit what you say. She's my mum and I promised her that I would be waiting for her. " His voice held so much coldness and determination, that he was shaking. His eyes were steeled cold, like his mother's at times. If anyone knew him, they knew that he wasn't playing around and nothing would get him to change his mind.

Kyle leaned back on the wall, sliding down wincing at the bruises that covered his back. He was bruised and hurt but he wouldn't care. He wasn't moving. He then sat down and leaned his head back. He then closed his eyes. Remembering this morning with his mother. Everything was ok then. "Just go Ava, I'm not leaving. Fucking go. "

Ajan, Weapon Specialist

The gun was a familiar weight in the man's hands and he gripped it firmly as he peered through the scope. His heartbeat was calm, even as he peered at the scene unfolding below him. He watched the East and West factions clash, but that was nothing to worry over. If they wanted to be at each other's throats then so be it. Fewer people on their side.

Ajan didn't react as the foolish woman who seemed to be in charge of the West faction was sent tumbling over the wall, and a man went after her. It caused a small smile to cross the man's face. Ivan might have some new toys to play with if Rhett released them into his care. The other two factions seemed to be in a panic and Ajan took it as a signal to leave. He wasn't invited to the little scouting mission, but he came independently all the same. He kept his walkie-talkie on so he could catch any news of disturbances. Today had been the only eventful one in a long time. He shouldered his gun before turning to his snowmobile he had built himself. Despite being made with spare parts, it worked better than most. He removed a black bag strapped down to the vehicle and removed a sleek black case that popped open when he entered the code. The small tablet nestled inside was activated with a quick tap and the two drones sprang to life. He’d have them hang near the wall to survey the group of West and East faction members for a while. He made sure the cameras were working before placing the tablet back in the case which was put back in the bag.

~~

Ajan returned to the Khal a few minutes behind the group. He removed his stuff from the snowmobile and took them back to his room.
Ajan was a simple man and his room reflected that. It was a large room but grey walls and floor. A single light illuminated the drab room that Ajan had gotten used to after long days in his room fiddling with whatever project he was working on at the time. Half of the room was dedicated to his collection of guns he kept maintained and carefully arranged and the other was a bunch of metal parts and wires. A single bed was in the far corner but he barely used it since he usually fell asleep at his desk.

Ajan got out the tablet from the case that he put in his closet and put away the rifle before slipping the tablet into his back pocket and heading towards the War Room which seemed to be the most logical place for everyone to go concerning the recent capture of the West and East faction members.

The War Room was as grand as ever and Ajan noticed Rhett already ready for the meeting. Ajan wasn’t much of a talker and he was unsure of what to say to the other man. The best he could do at the moment was a nod in the man’s direction before he settled down in the corner and got out the tablet. The group on the wall had started to clear, but Ajan wanted to follow the East faction members for a while longer.

The evening, according the the pitmaster had went exceptionally well, which had pushed the southerners back on his schedule. He had gotten home at a late hour from the War Room, surprised Atticus had stayed up for him. He had put him to bed, and did the same for himself. The morning however he readied himself, a crisp black and white suit, paired with his trench. And had told Lee to escort the southerners to the War Room, then return to his home to watch Atticus...

Rhett sat casually at his desk, the two southerners, who’s names were Bexley and Theodore. Withers. Her last name sounded vaguely familiar to him... No matter. They were properly fed and clothed, and zip-tie free. Violette stood behind him, seeing as her usual chair was occupied. A map of the north layed flat on his desk, a crisp dark line splitting in half, the southern side opposite. His icy eyes scanned the two, then smiled.

So, now that you know of our existence, I feel that if we come to a mutual agreement, we could benefit of one another... We have big game, and plenty of water. You have produce, and plenty of sun. I think an alliance could make our lives a hell of a lot easier do you not agree?” Pausing for a moment, he gauged their reactions, then continued. “Now of course I am all ears to negotiation. So if you give me your conditions, i’ll see what we can do eh?”

Bexley had been tense the entire time. After the Doctor's not so warm welcome, Bexley was on edge and not trusting anyone at the moment. Lee, their babysitter (because apparently 27 and 28 were too young in the eyes of Frosty), wasn't so bad....he had warned the two of them to stay away from the doctor and Bexley couldn't have agreed more. Something was off about the man...he had been talking about experiments. What had they been up on this side of the wall these past 17 years? Seems like they were trying to play god in a way....not that there was one even left.

Speaking of God, Bexley couldn't get over the cathedral they currently sat in with Frosty the Snowman looking like something out of a WWII movie. The building once held hope and faith within its large walls...but the outside painted a different picture of the world...one that the cathedral could no longer hide with pointless prayers and songs about a higher power. Bexley had lost God long ago...far before any of this shit happened. Perhaps it was for the best. Rule #5- No attachments...even if that attachment is questionable in existence. Atticus.. The passed through her mind like a shadow in the night, sneaking up and taking her breath away. She knew she had broken one of the most important rule set by the South..though so had a lot of people. Her child was lost in the world that had been just that long before he was even thought of. Her heart ached every day as she doubted her ability to even be a leader and a mother to Kyle. She had lost the child she had brought into this world...she just hoped he hadn't left her behind, waiting for the rest of her life as though he might return... No attachments her mind sighed at her before Bexley's eyes turned to Teddy. He was well dressed. They both were..Something about the north held a little more sophistication rather than practicality in dress code. The clothing Bexley had on hung tightly to every curve and dip on her body and she felt like she was wearing a second skin...a warm second skin thankfully. The furs were beautiful...delicately crafted and so soft to the touch.

This man...Rhett. He seemed to be kind...he had been nothing but nice to them since the moment they had arrived, but Bexley knew what evil could easily hide behind that warm smile. Teddy seemed to practically melt every time the man spoke, Freaking hippies, one warm smile and they are a toasted gooey marshmallow...She thought as she glanced Teddy's way one more time. Her eyes flickered back to Rhett as he spoke, listening with great interest about what he had to say. Bexley nodded her head slowly but then bit her lip as she thought of the right words. Finally letting the smallest of smile slip on her lips she spoke.

"Mr.Otto....First of all, thank you for showing us such hospitality..."Bexley began, trying to remain as calm as possible knowing she would never be as good as Rosemary when it came to discussing things. She wished in a sense she could be a little more like the woman...she had been her at one point in time, before love came and crush her. "Our lands are divided amongst the East and the West..I cannot speak for the East as surely as I could the West....but I think we could be able to come to such agreements." Her words were slow and diplomatic in its tone. Bexley had always been someone who was seen by most as a rowdy, ill tempered stubborn girl who could never shut her mouth...at least since she changed herself. But she knew when it was a good time to demand answers and when it wasn't...she knew this was not the time for her mouth.

Bexley leaned forward to see the map and pointed to her area before pointing to Taurus. "Our main locations are within the Mid-town areas..." She told him, her eyes looking up for a moment to catch his icy blue ones, showing no fear but no comfort in her own eyes. Just Neutral. "The East provides most of our crops for the West through trading of Big game that we have and small livestock, East could use the water a lot more for crops...." Leaning back once more, she then looked to Teddy, wondering if he had any suggestions. It was odd not having Jasper beside her at the moment, the man always her rock in these boring tedious things. Bexley needed a rock and Teddy seemed willing to be there. "What say you Theodore?" She questioned the dark haired bearded man of the East.

Voices echoed in the cathedral. Entering, Teddy had gazed openly at the arching ceilings high above his head and the stained glass windows where the cold, northern light poured through in different shades of color. He couldn't help but feel that he had been in a place like this before - in another life, in another world. He had held his mom's hand, already almost as tall as her even as a child. Sometimes, when he focused, late at night when it was quiet, he could remember what she sounded like when she sang her hymns. Her's was a thin, warbling sort of voice.

He was clean now, dressed well in clothes that fit and were suitable for the conditions, but still didn't think he could feel more out of place than he did. There was a different look to the Northmen - something so subtle yet so overt it was almost staggering. He felt exposed and gawkish, something he hadn't felt since he was a clumsy youth. There seemed to be prying eyes everywhere he looked. Teddy had felt exposed and torn open since the Doctor had so easily read him. He had been foolish, he knew, but he hadn't been able to let his threats slide. Just when he had thought it was unwise for Bexley to reveal that she had men at her command, he had revealed his whole hand rather than keeping it close to his chest. They knew he would go to the limit for her, and that was a dangerous thing in of itself.

Teddy found himself at his destination, attempting to keep his expression level as he took in everything - the people, the map, the room. There was a woman standing back a bit who he recognized from earlier, among the white haze. His lake-shaded eyes caught on the man sitting before them, Rhett, the Leader of the North. His pleasant countenance extended as he spoke of alliances, of a mutually beneficial relationship between factions. Teddy was slightly surprised for a moment, though he wasn't sure why. In any case, alliances, helping each other, these were the things the East, under Rosemary's leadership, strove for. It was familiar talk, something that Teddy could feel slightly comfortable in, though he had never been on the other end of such a discussion. He had no authority on this front - no semblance of an idea, save from what he had observed, as to how to go about such things.

He was more than relieved when Bexley spoke up first as she was meant to, and his eyes found her, a bit of gratitude in the depths. Teddy listened intently, watching as she demonstrated their territories on the map. He wondered if it was a good idea to let the northerners know their positions, though it was a danger he couldn't foresee, and Bexley knew better than him, in any case.

When she had finished and turned to him with her inquiry, once more using the formal, rare full extent of his first name, his eyes lingered on hers a moment before he looked back at Rhett.

He nodded slowly, thick brow drawing ever so slightly. "She's right...on all accounts. I don't have any authority to speak for the East, though it's always been my home. Our leader, Rosemary Borden, is about as eager for alliances, diplomacy, and peace as anyone could rightly be. I don't doubt that she'd be more than willing to come to to an... uh... a mutual agreement with you." Hearing his own voice echo back unnerved him, but he maintained his poise for the moment.

Rosemary took a deep breath before entering the room, collecting her thoughts, preparing herself for the meeting that would proceed. Nothing like this had occurred in the history of her run as head of this faction, or even before she came into her position. The North Wall had always towered before them, silent, unmoving. One never quite got the feeling that it had eyes that could bore down upon them, yet now all was changed.

She had received the news - the hastened, sharp words that the Western child had returned with. There were people beyond the wall - a community, a civilization with weapons and goods and a populous, from what she had gathered, from what the child had been able to relate. If they were organized, enough to quickly respond to the disturbance on the Wall, then she knew there was far more that extended beyond that thick slab of stone and ice than even the appearance of the Northerners would suggest. They had taken one of their own all but hostage, along with the Leader of the West. They could have sent them back up the wall as they did the child, yet they took them back to wherever they reigned, with the promise that they would be returned in a day - or in due time, whenever they pleased. It wasn't as if they had anyone breathing down their necks on the matter.

Rosemary had already gone through what she expected to hear in this meeting, every suggestion or recommendation of a course of action that her advisors and the people of the East might express. She expected that they would be frightened by this news, possibly angered that one of their own had been taken without word or sufficient explanation. She expected that someone would suggest sending more men over the wall, to retrieve Theodore Ashworth or even the Western Leader, or to at least see what there was to see over the wall. It was foolish, though she too desired to know what lay beyond. Ignorance bred hate and cruelty. If they were left in the dark for too long, she feared what might transpire, though she knew she wouldn't bend to it.

She entered the room. Her steps were measured, steady, a strolling pace. The Council Hall was filled to the brim with those who desired to observe or participate in the discussion to be had. Rosemary had always been resolute in keeping their doors open. What concerned them concerned all. Still, walking through the crowd, she felt her heart pick up in its pace. Being surrounded by so many, at the mercy of the sea of men and women, she always felt nervous, knowing she couldn't predict the actions of every individual.

In the center of the expansive hall - though it more resembled a warehouse than a dining hall of old, rested a large, round table, where those in her close ranks sat. She gave each of them an even look and a nod, taking her place at the table.

The room quieted.

"This morning, zero eight hundred hours, The Leader of the West, Bexley Withers, one of our own, Theodore Ashworth, and a child of the West, Kyle Withers, fell and were lost beyond the North Wall. The child was returned to us in a contraption, claiming that there were people beyond the wall, belonging to a civilization, that have taken Withers and Ashworth with the promise of returning them in one day's time. We still do not know for what purpose they have taken them, the nature of their civilization, or their intentions for relations with the South. I called this meeting to hear your thoughts, concerns, and desired plans for the future regarding these matters. Please feel free to speak."

She spoke in her soft, careful manner, her eyes unguarded, her expression open. Now that the general marker for the beginning of the meeting had been spoken, formalities could be dropped within reason. She rested, leaning back in her chair, waiting for those before her or at her side, as Jade and Michael were, to speak. There was an empty chair beside Carter's where Teddy would normally have rested - making the situation all the more real.

She wondered what had truly befallen them in the North.

Atticus had a pretty uneventful time after his little adventure in following his father. He didn't get to catch a very good look at the strange Southerners and he was now frustrated with it. He sat in his room laying on the bed, staring up a the stark white ceiling. Atticus was never one for noise, preferring a nice quiet room over a rowdy crowd any day, but this day...he was remembering something that had happened on his way returning to home. Atticus hadn't seen a skin crawlers since the day he had been saved by his father. It was the only memory he had of his childhood before him. One that he would have rather forgotten about a long time ago...

The crawlers had been closing in now, picking up what was left of the chaos caused by an unknown group of heathens. Nothing but the silence could be heard, the snow blocking out all noise and making it feel as though up was down and left was right. Atticus watched as they struggled to shuffle closer but continued to do so with desperate animalistic determination. The faces of beings they had once been were picked clean off of all skin, or at least most...making them unrecognizable to people who weren't close family. The young boy screamed out in terror, only causing them to rush their pace. The man who held him in his arms gripped him tighter to his warm body that was now beginning to freeze over, as if the tundra was pulling it from the older man's body. "Its alright Atti, shhh...we are gonna get you home..mama's waiting." He said to the boy, his voice gruff and slowly fading into the sound of the wind, its force picking up his words and sending them flying away from Atticus' tiny ears. The wind howled loudly around the boy as he laid in the arms of a man who continued to tell him that it was going to be okay, that he would make it home. To young to understand, the boy continued to wail...for his mother..the man injured and laying bleeding beside him. The cold was chilling his little hands and feet so much they began to burn. He wanted home, his mother's soft sweet kisses and her warmth. But as a shadowy figure approached the man and young boy, it seemed like the boy would never get to see or truly know the woman who had birthed and cared for him before....for god had other plans and the sun had disappeared behind the storm clouds.

The terrifying scene had caused him to panic just as he did as a baby. Blinking a few times, he realized he wasn't standing out watching himself and a man suffer...there were no skin crawlers....at least not around him now. Atticus didn't remember much of what happened to the man who had been with him when he was found. His father couldn't even confirm with him if the man had been family. All that had been given to him was a name for the boy before the man seemingly perished and was left to mummify in the frozen flakes that had drifted in heaps of flurries that day. The figure laying bloodied in the snow...was something he would never be able to get out of his young head.

Atticus had run into one, picking its on flesh and discarding it into his mouth like it was some sort of jerky. He had frozen, just like the earth had around him and wasn't sure of what to do. The Skin crawler had easily detected him and Atticus was sent climbing the building again, knowing Zombies definitely couldn't climb from experience. The boy shot up from his bed and looked toward the trinkets that stood like trophies in his room...covering the walls, shelves. Looking back to the teddy bear, he stood up and walked over to it.
"Teddy..."The boy murmured lightly before squeezing the blue, blood stained teddy bear to his chest. He had been with Atticus through it all..the only thing that was actually consistent in his life. He couldn't part with him and never would. His friends had once called him a baby for having such things...and it hurt a lot. Atticus had heard the saying from an old beggar in the city of Khal..."One man's trash was another man's treasure." He treasure the dirty old grimy bear, it was something that kept him grounded and secure. Protecting him like a bear could.
Knock. Knock. Knock. Atticus' lake blue-green eyes shifted towards his door. He knew that father had sent someone to watch after him, though as to who was yet a mystery. The boy sighed slowly and pulled the bear away from his chest before placing it delicately back on the shelf. Straightening his back out and fixing his ears, Atticus smiled at the blue bear with satisfaction before turning to head towards the door. The boy had been able to compose his troubling thoughts as he opened the front door to his home. Atticus had met Lee only a few times before, and for the most part the boy didn't mind him. It was kinda funny the way he talked to Atticus...it was more like he was treating the boy like an adult and a few of the conversations they had before were brief...but he hadn't felt more understood by anyone else beside his father. "Hello Lee, come on in!" The boy told the scout before opening the door and holding it open for the man. Atticus smiled as he shut the door and turned to his guest, knowing his father would have done the same Atticus asked, "Would you like anything hot to drink? Or maybe something to eat?" The words sounding odd coming from a 9 year olds mouth, as it was too formal. The boy knew nothing else than being just that

Lee knocked three times upon the iron door of the Otto homestead. He had been inside only a handful of times, the home always had a modern feel to it, minus the record player in the living room. Tucking his hands within his pockets, he paused, then smiled. He has called Violette on radio last night, informing her that her proposition would be lovely... Just as the warm thought entered, the young boy opened the door.

Stepping inside, he set his helmet upon the kitchen counter, as well as his gloves. His hand were callused, worn from the many days and nights within the cold tundra. Turning back towards the boy, he smiled. “Don’t trouble yourself boy, I can handle it.” Spotting the coffee pot, most likely leftover from Rhett, still sitting upon the counter, he quickly poured himself a cup. He always preferred black coffee, it was straightforward and bold, like himself.

He took a sip as he sat at one of the barstools, and looked down at Atticus with steel eyes. “Now I imagine ye’ dying to hear about these birds... Your dad got home late, so it doesn’t surprise me that you’re still in awe.”A mischievous look entered his eyes, contemplating about tricking the young boy. Southerns have tails, talons, and are half ape...! No... Not today. “You’ll be sad to hear that they’re just like us. Bex and Teddy are their names, alright folk. Spent some time with them last night. Told me about their home, no snow and all sun. Told me about their culture, and apparently there’s two factions south of the wall!” Taking a sip of his coffee, he shook his head to himself. “Hells bells... All of this here is just so odd...”

Rhett dipped his head as he began to thank him, not needing the gratitude. But, he clicked his marker cap off as she began to point out where the two cities sat. Once complete, he stared at the map monetarily, capturing its image in his brain. Once satisfied that he retained the new addition, he turned back up to the two.

Well i’m glad to hear you two are up for negotiation, that’s a rareity seeing as everything wants to kill on another... Anyhow, seeing as you cannot talk for your faction Theodore, I will be sending a two-man party back over the wall with you folk. The scout you met last night, Lee, as well as my coleader Violette.” Pointing to the woman behind him, knowing she’d be good for the job, he continued.

They will be there longer than you were with me, seeing as they have to explore two factions instead of one. Hope that doesn’t trouble you... But diplomacy. I feel that once we three are within the same room, with the same playing field, then we can discuss matters. Because you two are clearly unprepared for the events that occurred, it was merely a accident over the wall, do you not agree? That would be quite unfair of me to pressure you into some deal that you’d be uncomfortable in making, do you not agree?” Placing both hand on the map, crossing within themselves, he looked towards Violette. “Go fetch Lee. Get whatever gear you need from the markets, and be up here within the hour. As for you two... Well you’re free to do whatever you like!”
