Recuerdo, a small town nestled in the mountains of Southern California an hour and a half north-east of Los Angeles. A sleepy town, where the most interesting thing for young people to do is visit the local mall or support the college football team at one of their games. The most noteworthy place around is Recuerdo Community College, lauded for it's excellent staff and programs.

Sometimes the brightest stars come from the most humble of beginnings. It is in the tiny town of Recuerdo that six such stars will come together. A humble band of college students that will one day earn their place among the greats.

Hello, and welcome to Writing Our Future- A roleplay focused on a small group of students at a community college that come together to form a band. What at first seems like a good way to pass the time in a small town will eventually become these young adults claim to fame.

  Publicly, Vincent comes off as confident and charming, like he always knows exactly what to say. He always seems to have something prepared, never lost for words. The truth is, he just knows how to play people. A lifetime surrounded by the rich and famous has taught him how to play to what people want and expect from him. He could chat about stocks, business practices, politics, or religion for hours and not care one bit for what he or the other person says.
  
  The genuine Vincent is much more goofy than his professional persona, joking around and teasing those he feels close to freely. He can be childish, and may hold a ridiculous grudge for a long time or forget about whatever was bothering him ten minutes later because something else caught his attention. He's wild, goofy, and chaotic; the friend who disappears chasing an ice cream truck a block and comes back with enough for everyone.
  
  But at his very core, Vincent is still that hurt young boy who lost the only person in the world he had truly loved. When he's feeling particularly beaten down, he withdrawals within himself like a sad little boy hiding away in his room.
  
  Ever since the car accident, Vincent has felt uncomfortable being in a vehicle he is not in control of. He will generally insist on driving or take his bike instead.
  APPEARANCE
  Vincent stands fairly tall at 6’5” with his father's jet black hair and mother’s chocolate brown eyes. Thanks to the countless hours spent working on cars and motorcycles he is also fairly muscular. His hands and arms have several visible scars from places he's hurt himself while working, and a decently large scar from the accident runs from his left shoulder to his chest. He usually wears either jeans, dark t-shirts or button up shirts, and a denim or leather jacket.
  BRIEF HISTORY
  Vincent Theodore Beckett, the son of fashion mogul Jeffery Beckett and his wife Melody Beckett-West, grew up in a New York suburban neighborhood full of other well-off families. His Father was well known in the fashion industry, and his mother was the daughter of an actor named Franklin West. Because of his family's position, he was often taken to social functions full of stuck up rich people. He learned what was expected of him, how to act around people like them, and how to keep them happy.
  
  His Father loved the life he lived, a life of luxury and renown. He was a socialite, someone who belonged amongst those rich and famous snobs. They were his people, and he expected Vincent to make a good impression whenever he met them. Jeffery taught his son how to behave, proper manners and all the rules one had to be aware of to be a prominent and successful businessman.
  
  His mother on the other hand, she never quite fit in at the social functions. She mostly kept quiet and stayed by her husband’s side when they went out together. Melody was creative, musical, and wild. She rode a Harley -Davidson motorcycle, went to punk shows, and went skydiving for fun. Some of Vincent's most prominent memories are of long drives with Subhumans blasting from the radio and being taken for rides on his mother’s Harley-Davidson Fatboy.
  
  It was a week before Vincent's twelfth birthday, while he and his mother were in his father's car on their way to Vincent’s school. His father wasn’t with them so his mother was able to play her own music. Sometimes in life there are strange little coincidences, things that just happen to line up. The song “I Saw Your Mommy” By Suicidal Tendencies had just begun when the Nissan slammed into the driver side of their Toyota. The other driver had decided to run the Red light, not realizing Melody was coming into the intersection. She was dead even before their car came to a stop on the side of the road. A fireman was able to get Vincent out of the car safely and he was rushed to the hospital. A large gash ran down from his left shoulder, a scar that would never go away.
  
  Vincent received his Ibanez SR870 bass guitar for his twelfth birthday, he had been begging his parents to buy him one for months. His father signed him up for lessons, the music helped take the boy's mind off of things. For the first four months after the accident it seemed like all Vincent did was play his bass. He locked himself away in his room, refusing to come out for anything. He didn’t return to his normal self until another year and a half later. In that time, Vincent and his father moved to Jeffery's hometown of Recuerdo to be near his parents.
  
  When he was 14 he began hanging out at a local auto shop, there he got to know a man named Wayne Ó Cahan. Wayne taught Vincent everything he knew about working on cars, skills Vince has since applied to working on motorcycles as well. When he turned 16, his mother's old Harley became his own. Riding his bike and playing his music are the two things that make Vincent feel free and happy more than anything else.

  Vincent has been influenced by a range of musicians through the ages. From oldies such as Elvis Presely, Chuck Berry, and Jerry Lee Lewis, to more modern artists such as The Vandals, Suicidal Tendencies, and Subhumans. He fondly remembers long car trips with his mother, punk-rock bands blasting from the speakers. However, The song “I Saw Your Mommy" By Suicidal Tendencies is one song he cannot listen to without feeling anxious and deeply disturbed.

  Lucille was born and raised in Britain, meeting her husband while attending school in France. They moved to the United States soon after graduating where they had their sons Jeffery and Christopher.   Brief History
  Growing up in Paris, Cherry never wanted for a thing. It wasn’t until her father eloped with his mistress and fled to Germany that her world was shattered. Her mother was not the lady of the house, but rather yet another maid her father had been seeing on the side. The two of them were thrown out, and left with no job the only place the new family could go was back to Cherry's grandparents home in America.

  One of the few people taller than Vincent, Wayne stands at an overwhelming 6’10” tall. He is a fairly muscular man with bright red hair only just starting to turn grey.
  Brief History
  Growing up in Ireland, Wayne always had a love for cars. He spent long days and nights in the garage during his teenage years rebuilding an old 1940 Chevy pickup truck.

His brother had been living there for years, but when he passed away after a long fight with cancer his young daughter was left without anyone to care for her. Wayne opened an auto shop in town and took the girl in, caring for her as if she were his own.​

  Beck is a total sweetheart, always happy to lend a helping hand. The soft-hearted boy is generally laid back, but as a boy was always dragged into Vincent’s chaos. These days things are much the same, as his eccentric new bandmate does the dragging.

  Beck has jet black hair, and soft gray eyes. If not for his short height of 5’7” he could be described as tall, dark, and handsome. Alas, he is a shortie.
  Brief History
  Vincent and Stuart grew up together in New York. Unlike Vincent, who lived in a nice suburb outside of New York City, Beck grew up in a dirty apartment complex in Brooklyn. The two haven’t seen each other in person since Vincent moved away, but still keep in touch. Beck is Vincent’s oldest friend. When speaking with Vincent one evening, both decided to form their own bands.

  Miki is a quiet young lady, but never lacking in energy. She simply prefers to let her actions and her music do the talking. She gives off a false air of responsibility, and upon first glance seems mild-mannered and respectful. But those who know her know that she can go off at a moments notice, giving even Rahat a run for his money.
  Brief History
  Miki was Vincent’s childhood sweetheart. They grew up three houses down from one another, and would call each other husband and wife. The kids’ parents found their little relationship adorable, and Miki was always present on Beckett family trips. Vinnie loved to listen while Miki practiced on her bass guitar, and she loved to hear him play the piano. The two were inseparable until Vincent’s mother died and he drifted away from everyone. After he moved to Recuerdo, he and Miki never reconnected.
  
  Miki met Beck in high-school and the two started dating. She knows Stuart and Vincent are best friends, yet she and her first love still haven’t spoken. Vinnie isn’t even aware Beck and Miki know each other, much less that they’ve been dating for three years.

  Kat's natural hair colour is dark brown, but she is recently in the habit of bleaching it blonde or dying it purple or teal. She is of just above average height and has a slender frame. One of her favourite features is the smattering of freckles across her cheeks. Her brother Archer actually nicknamed her 'Freckles'. Kat's dress sense is fairly casual and consists mostly of skinny jeans, plaid shirts, band tees and Vans.   Kat is reserved around new people and one will usually see her scribbling song lyrics in her notebook if she isn't hanging around her friends. Most people are very surprised at how fierce she can be when in front of an audience, because Kat tends to keep to herself and her little group.
  
  Anyone who knows her on a more intimate level knows that Kat is a very talkative, supportive person, with a slight taste for risk taking. She's not above a risky dare or two. She is a laidback person, but also a perfectionist when it comes to music. She will not budge when she has a specific vision or sound in her mind and so she can be stubborn and blunt in those situations.
  
  Despite loving the thrill of performing, Kat highly dislikes the spotlight and can be quiet and awkward when complimented on any of her talents. She is a huge nerd and is the type of person who would always hang out with her friends indoors if given the chance. This isn't to say she's antisocial, she just prefers small group gatherings that she can be somewhat in control of.

  Kat was born and raised in Seattle as the first child of a young couple. Her father Austin, a musician and her mother Carla, an artist met at the age of sixteen at one of her father's band's gigs and nine months later, an unplanned baby was born, namely Kat. Fortunately, her parent's seemed not to be a victim of puppy love and remained together from the moment they met.
  
  Three years after Kat was born came her little brother Archer. It was a little hard for her to adjust at first, but the siblings bonded quickly and became each other's best friends once Archer grew older. The children were raised to be just as artistically expressive as their parents and learned to play instruments and be free-thinkers and innovators.
  
  Kat's first experience with singing was when she would sing along to Michael Jackson tracks at the age of three. It was then that her parents noticed she had a talent for mimicking the notes well enough for her voice to be rather pleasant. Her father had a bunch of guitars around the house and made his living writing jingles and being a session musician, so music is all Kat has ever known. She taught herself guitar with her beloved Daisy Rock guitar at the age of five and then went on to write her own songs for as long as she can remember.
  
  Kat was not a fan of leaving her home in Seattle to start a new life in small town Recuerdo away from her friends, but she's hoping to make new friends there and perhaps finally realise her dream of singing in a band. She is also currently struggling to come to terms with the recent divorce of her parents. Neither she nor her brother Archer saw it coming and being away from him during the messy situation has been hard for her.     Archer is Kat's favourite person in the whole world. They have always been close siblings and with their mutual musicianship, they often help each other out on projects. Autumn is also a great drummer, boisterous and sometimes a bad influence on Kat, but all in all has a heart of gold. River is a man who doesn't spend much time talking about himself, which leads to his friends not actually... knowing much about him. Most of his time seems to be spent either asleep or trying to get there, which doesn't allow for much socialization. River's friend group doesn't extend very far, but that doesn't seem to bother him. To the average observer, River could be considered a lazy hangaround, never really contributing to conversations, but those who know him well know River to be dependable and selfless, willing to do whatever it takes for his friends, even if it takes him a minute to get up and do it. He may be quiet, not often speaking unless spoken to, but he always offers an ear to his friend's problems and a shoulder to cry on.
APPEARANCE
Tall and lean, River stands around 6'2", fairly muscular for being so skinny but by no means is he a strong man. Tan skin, dark brown hair worn in a long messy flop, light brown eyes thin an bordering between alert and relaxed, as if always taking in the details. His left forearm and hand are covered in tattoos, intricate symbols and designs closely resembling henna.
BRIEF HISTORY
Born in Portland, Oregon, to a single mother, River was a happy child. They lived a modest lower class life, though River never knew truly how low for years to come, always interested in music but never able to afford an instrument. As a boy, the arts fascinated him, eager to improve his skill as a graffiti artist, learn to play guitar, draw, paint, whatever he could do to express himself. Never a stellar student, River pushed himself to graduate with a focus on the arts, obvious shortcomings in maths and sciences forcing him to work himself harder than the other kids. He held a few odd jobs through high school to help his mother, as well as finance his passions for music and art, lifeguard, cashier, artist for hire, etc. Eventually he had worked hard enough to be accepted to a community college in California, moving to further his career and passions, a focus on music and art.

Their finger is a bit lanky and awkward, but when doing something they are good at they seem more graceful than their usual baby-deer like state.   Teddy grew up in a family of christian rock and hymns and absolutely abhors such music. They also have a special hatred in their heart for christmas music. They do, however, love the classics. When their mother was not making them play in their worship band, they were studying 60's, 70's, and 80's punk and rock masters. Of course, their taste in music is "anything that makes me remember my heart is in my chest." From Led Zeppelin to Fall Out Boy to Gene Krupa to Tom Petty, they respect the greatest and love those who try. They even like taking non percussion based songs and playing around to make it have drums. They think it's awesome how something that seems so unruly can create something that organizes everything else.   Teddy was born and raised in Pennsylvania to a rather religious family. They moved to California when Teddy turned 14, right when they were starting to get a grasp on their identity. Teddy's family is 'conservative' to say the least so the month after they turned eighteen they moved into an apartment. He studies Pre-Med and is the quarterback on the team. He has been close to Teddy, incredibly supportive when they came out- despite his own traditional upbringing.   When Addie was born it was instantly noted that something was different about him. What was different about him exactly? He has naturally frosty white hair and a complete lack of pigment in his hair. A doctor would simply say that he had a pigment condition that caused him to completely lack melanin; Poliosis. This specific trait would make his life far more miserable than it could have been if he just had full pigment and melanin. His trauma relating to his hair has led to him to dye it to its supposedly natural color which would have been black. He doesn't stray from his usual undercut style when it comes to hairstyles. He still has a lot of trauma to work through however he has been thinking of dying his hair all colorful, straying away from the black yet going to something he had a mutual agreement with himself that he wasn't going do.   The worst thing that could have ever happened for all 12 of the Arcane children was to be born, after that everything that came next was inevitable of being stopped. For the youngest Arcane this especially stood true. Born on the 23rd of February one thing stood out strongly about this baby. To Addie's supposed dad the color white meant purity, coincidentally his youngest 'son' was born with white hair as he lacked all melanin in his hair from his pigment condition called Poliosis. Kyle Focus didn't see his 'sons' condition as a coincidence. Noah Hayes Arcane was the youngest kids name. For the first year of his life everything was normal, that time period would be the only known time that Noah received affection from his parents.   HISTORY

  Childhood: Born Dennis James Boone in the sleepy town of Lafayette Indianna Casey grew up in a rather turbulent family. The man who he thought was his father and he was named after was in fact not. His mother had an affair with a famous guitarist after a business trip. When she returned she realized she was pregnant but not with the child of the man she married. Casey's father knew this quite well, that his son did not look like him, in fact he resembled another man. It was this reason that caused his incessant rage and discontempt at his own son. His wife Isabelle had lied to him and said Dennis was his. When he in fact was not.
  As such compared to most Casey's childhood was not the happiest, most of it was seeing and hearing the domestic disputes occur between his mother and father. To hear his father yell about how that kid , wasn't his son. It had a detrimental affect on his self confident and self worth to constantly be told that he wasn't enough for his father. His mother was no better merely letting Casey's father continue to torment them for years. And Casey was left feeling stifled and trapped in his hellish home with no escape but for music .
  
  Adolesence: In Casey's teen years he began to use music as an outlet to express his own discontent with his home life. Casey found solice in the sounds of the Rolling Stones, Hanoi Rocks, Led Zeppelin, Guns N'Roses, and T-Rex. Rock music provided him the perfect space with its rebellious spirit and passion. Although guitar is his main choice of instrument nowadays it is not his first choice. Rather Casey first began his musical journey with the drums, than the bass before eventually picking up the guitar. While he wasn't fond of flashy leads and solos he did find his knack for rhythm and setting the groove.
  Inspired by the sounds of the Rolling Stones and Keith Richards Casey was able to find his own distinctive guitar sound. It's loose and distorted but still keeps onto the beat, he finds himself being able to complement most lead guitarists. With the guitar it seeemed to give Casey his own identity and image. To the point where he considered changing his name to fully escape from his past in Indiana.
  
  Adulthood:Determined to make it as a big star Casey finally decided to leave his home in Indiana with his sights set on California. After leaving his home he legally changed his name from Dennis Boone to Casey Stradlin further crafting his own identity. For his first few months in California he was broke living on the streets and barely having any cash. A lot of his money was made through less than legal reasons and he spent his time hustling the streets of California to scrounge up whatever cash he could. Eventually after nearly two and half years roaming the streets of LA Casey finally gained enough money to pay for a few part time classes at the local college.
