The Babel Manor is under siege!
—by a long, on-going debate! For as long as Variants existed, people have been arguing as to whether or not they deserve the same rights as any uninfected person. Tonight, Japan is going to settle this in a low-key debate on the Babel estate, involving many big political figures. “Devil's Wrath is humanity's greatest threat,” Tanabe, Shizuko, one of the people attending this meeting, says, “If we don't impose sanctions on them, then it's only a matter of time before something catastrophic happens…” Mihara, Aya, another attendee, has differing opinions on the matter, claiming that this mindset will bring about Japan’s downfall.

“We're repeating history, should our nation reach a state where we drag people into what are just prisons based off one-sided assumptions,” she told us.
While no one is sure how the meeting will pay off, many hope the outcome will spawn a better future for the people of Japan. What we are sure of, however, is that this conference will surely cause a lot of controversy all over the world no matter the verdict. We all eagerly await their conclusions.
British scientists have made a bizarre discovery of a bacteria that only appears in British-made desserts. They have noted that the organelles are all shaped as either the letters U or W. The bacterium also has a complex membrane organization and an unpredictable life cycle.

Scientists have named the new species Spotticus diceae womanassa.

NOTES

Hello! Here's a few notes for things I put in the IC codes. On the next few tabs you may find said IC codes! The CS sheets were created by Kit, with some thanks to Nano!! (scroll!)

There's a MISC section within the code, underneath the post section! Filling these two is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL! However, make sure you credit the image(s) you use!

TLDR section:
Summarize ur post if you deem necessary!! I'll be copying + pasting these (with some edits) into the server for everyone to read because some people cannot read every single post. Remember to read the entire post if you're in the same scene and not just the tl;drs. They're not meant to replace the posts! It's just to summarize for people not directly involved.

Extra section:
Add any extra information! This could be easy-to-forget notes like their current equipment or what extra things they're wearing. It could be anything you want people to remember, really.

Footsteps of the parade coming out of the cover of the trees were muffled by the snow and grass. In front of them was a beacon of light in the dark of the evening that the group was steadily advancing towards. Babel Mansion.

In the lead was a bird masked Daffodil, whose concealed eyes were trained on the building. As they neared the hedges surrounding it, she turned her head to the people following her and her face softened. Behind the group was a rare sight— Beasts. Ones that seemed tame with marks cut into their hinds. This was thanks to the curvy dagger situated in Chika’s hand that was stained with the dry blood of said beasts. Quietly, she gestured towards those holding jars of ash. “Remember what we’re doing. Spread the ash around the garden, and then we unleash the beasts. Our goal is to make the people inside stay inside.” They gave the group a gentle smile before bringing her index finger up to her lips.

Turning back around, the Daffodil reached the corner of the hedges surrounding the building. On the other side were trees covering the roof of a pavilion. Using the dagger, she cut into the plants to create an opening into the garden. With one hand, she pushed aside the brush, and with the other she ushered the fellow Ibara members in.

Once the entire group, including the Beasts, were under the cover of the pavilion, Aika called the attention of the others. “Avoid being out in the open,” she whispered. “Those blessed with the ash will share the jars and pour them out.” Another smile before sending them off with a signal that meant “go.”

She twirled the dagger in her hand before facing the Beasts that were sitting quietly behind them. She pointed it towards the animals before quickly moving her hand towards the rest of the garden. Immediately, they moved, directed around and about the area.

Flashlights from a couple of guards scanned over the patio as they exited the mansion. The light caught a glimpse of a figure running in front of the two, causing a startled grunt from one of them. They nudged their partner and the two exchanged glances. With a silent agreement, the other pulled out a walkie-talkie and began speaking into it.

“Taishi—”

They froze as the face of a large Beast inched closer towards them. With a tackle, a snarl, and a scream, they went down, flinging to the side. Their partner grabbed it as soon as possible, quickly resuming the alert as they booked it back inside, leaving the Beasts, and Ibara members, in the garden.

"We're going in circles." There was an irritated sigh from one side of the couch in the corner. Noboru Nishimura, Japan's own Minister of Defense, leaned back in his seat, pinching the bridge of his nose.

Aya Mihara remained still in her seat across from him. "With all due respect, sir, what you're suggesting is taking away basic human rights from what is essentially a minority group! Have we learned nothing from World War II?"

"Is it that outlandish when about 10% of all deaths in Japan are related to Devil's Wrath?"
The sharp tone came from Noboru's side. Shizuko Tanabe, arguably the biggest thorn to Devil's Wrath infected in terms of politics, rose to challenge Aya. "The difference between history and now is that we have valid proof that these people pose a threat to national security. Tell me, is it normal that a minory group is undeniably responsible for so much death and destruction?"

"But—"

"I'm inclined to agree with Tanabe."
Noboru's stern voice cut through the air. "You can say that the good done with these individuals outweighs the bad, but it doesn't change the fact that the bad exists. People are dying because of Devil's Wrath, and if we can instate laws to limit the infected and save lives, then that's an act I'm willing to take."

Aya grit her teeth, keeping her fists clenched in her lap. She knew negotiating with these individuals would be tough, but they seemed so steadfast... Then she felt a hand on her shoulder. She peeked to her side, where a smaller girl of white and light blue sat and looked at her warmly. Before she realized it, her heart calmed down. She offered a smile. "Thank you, Murakami..."

"However, as the issue stands, you're contradicting your own words by extending your restrictions onto the Union."
The next to speak up was Montique Archambeau, the former Beast Extermination captain in the Japan branch before being transferred back to his homeland. He hoped that his time and experience in the area would help his case.

Noboru twitched a brow. "That is not to say I discredit the Union. But, if I may be so blunt, the only reason you exist is because of the threat posed by others with Devil's Wrath. Without them balancing things out, you'd be torn down out of fear of suppressing everyone who isn't infected."

"Cleaning up after yourself..."
Shizuko added.

Trying not to let out his annoyed sigh, Montique went on. "You're telling me to take no offense from this, yet you're downplaying all that the Union has done. By your logic, a firefighter doesn't deserve their credit because the only reason they exist is because of other people starting the fires!"

"Excuse me..."
Before another back and forth ensued, in contrast to every other voice, a soft and gentle cadence made itself apparent. Doi Murakami, one of the famously benevolent figures in Japan, spoke up. "While I cannot speak on behalf of all infected individuals, I think it is wrong to condemn people without getting to know them first. For me, I only wish to help everyone as much as I can, and—"

"That's what your grandfather said when he founded Ibara, and look where that wound up."
Of all the mouths that opened, one made itself heard first.

"Tanabe." She turned to Noboru, noticeably shocked at the sudden beckon. There was no need of an ask to realize his displeasure. She forced herself to swallow her words and her pride.

Regardless, Doi kept her eyes trained on Shizuko—and only had a warm smile to give. "My grandfather... is the reason my parents and I, possibly many others, despised our family name... For so long, I was ashamed of it. Now, I do not claim to know the suffering that Ibara put so many people through, but it is my sole wish to rebuild the Murakami name into one that people look to for aid and solace. Whereas my grandfather used his powers for destruction, I only wish to use mine to help. I implore of you to let me mend my family's sins..."

A momentary silence befell the group. It was broken by Aya, who laid her hand on Doi's shoulder. "It's a very admirable goal," she said softly.

She uttered a soft "Thank you," back.

"As I understand, Nishimura, you arrived at the aftermath of every Ibara attack that occurred since you took office, correct?"

"You don't need to remind me..."

While the discussion swung back and forth, Montique' focus lingered on the host of this gathering: Kotone Yasuda. Since the debate began, he'd only been observing it all quietly—he was unreadable. "Anything you want to add, Yasuda?"

He grumbled and stretched in response, letting out an audible crack of his spine. "I'm thinking," was all he said.

Good talk. If Montique had to be honest, the entire ordeal not only stressed him, but bored him. His mind wandered to the room they were in, a cozy lounge area naturally lit through its many windows. It was relaxing to focus on the sounds in the background: the faint song of the piano, the ringing wind chimes outside, the scream...

The scream?

"What was that?" Noboru heard it, too.

It came from the garden. One look towards the window, and the attendees were left speechless.

"Do you hear that?" Oh, what a joyous sound it was. How she wished she could see it: the Beasts emerging in the garden, starting what was to be a glorious day for Ibara. "The flowers are blooming..." With the mansion guards diverted to the garden, the group approached the front of the mansion, led by the lullaby-singing Goze.

From the meeting room, the attendees could hear a torrent of screams and destruction rushing the stairs, down the halls, towards their room. The unpowered guards still in the mansion stood no chance against the several infected that ran through. Heralded by a lullaby, the VIPs could do little as they burst inside.

"So this was the plan in action..." Montique remarked, connecting the dots between the Beasts and the intruders.

How she wished she could see the expressions on each of their faces... There wasn't much said by the now-hostages, quickly realizing the kind of situation they were in. One by one, they slowly raised their hands, donning looks of either cautious calm like Noboru or nerve-wracked worry like Doi; they didn't have much choice. "I assume I already have your attention, my dear sinners?" Goze began, gripping her weapon steady. "You misguided, poor souls..." She whispered, lips moving at a slow pace as to drag out each of her words.

"You sick bastards... Japan would be much better off without you—!"

"HUSH..."
The utter sound threw Shizuko flat against the floor, her back taking the brunt of the force. She hit the ground so fast that she bounced a foot further, coughing violently.

"Tanabe!" Doi instinctively rushed to her aid, cupping the back of Shizuko's head in her hands and letting her lean at an angle.

Goze spun around to those who joined her. "Restrain them, please."

Walking over, Goze herself latched onto one hostage: Doi Murakami. The white-haired girl let out a frightened 'eep!' at being grabbed. Goze chuckled at that. "Don't fret... the last thing I wish to do is hurt you..." She ran her hand across Doi's cheek—then dragged her with.

"N-No..." she uttered, but there was little she could do.

Montique couldn't watch—being unable to help despite having powers was always the worst feeling.

Goze turned her head around each of her allies. She spoke in a sing-songy tone. "Remember... we're here to send a message. If the Union refuses to listen to our message... let them know we're serious and cut one of their throats." While they restrained each of the six hostages, faint sirens could be heard, getting louder and louder the more time went on. All of this came under the guise of one repeating lullaby:

"Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms,
Across the spring sky,
As far as the eye can see.
Is it mist, or clouds?
Fragrant in the air.
Come now, come now,

Let's go and see them..."

TLDR
An intense debate between six people on imposing limits on those infected by Devil's Wrath is interrupted by the emergence of Beasts in the garden of the Babel Mansion they're at. While the guards are distracted, a group of Ibara members go through the front entrance, killing everyone in their way until they get to the meeting room. They take everyone there hostage. They need to send a message, and if the incoming Union forces show any sign of refusing to listen, a hostage shall die to let them know they're serious...

Secure the perimeter. Nobody goes inside.

The orders from his older sister repeated in his mind like a broken record spinning endlessly on the needle of a record player. Like a loyal and obedient dog, he stood before the growing crowd of onlookers with a stern expression and a drawn sword.

It wasn’t the first time Sasha had been in a situation like this. Being a member of the Law Enforcement Division, dealing with hostage situations like these were far from uncommon. But one of this magnitude… It was certainly concerning. There were a lot of important people trapped inside that mansion, after all. Some of which were key-members who had been highly supportive in pushing the agenda of his organization’s plans for the world forward. They couldn’t afford to be lost– and letting unauthorized individuals get into the building could put this whole mission in serious jeopardy.

Everything was coming together at an extremely fast pace. The large crowds begging for some sort of show to feed their endless hunger for action, the protestors to the side, the occasional object thrown at his head– only to promptly be shot in some other direction by his ability. His checklist had almost fully been completed. All that was left was–

Golden orbs flickered over to the street. A large van with that signature satellite disc secured neatly on top of it. In a flash, large cameras and people wielding microphones arrived in droves, thirsty for their latest scoop.

He rolled his eyes.

Nee-san,” Lifting his walkie to his face, he softly addressed his older sister, whom he could faintly see standing at the forefront of the large, lavish mansion from his position at the side of it. “...The media’s here.

He didn’t necessarily expect a response. He was just communicating what he saw like any good Deputy would. His transceiver remained fixed in position by his lips as he continued to speak, this time directing his words to every officer and detective on the scene.

Remember, officers: nobody is allowed to enter. Keep your eyes sharp and report any suspicious faces you see so that we can prevent this mess from getting any worse. Use force if necessary, but try to keep it non-lethal. We don’t need a bigger mess than what we already have.

Law is helping secure the perimeter of the mansion. He takes note of some of the happenings in the growing crowd, including the arrival of various news stations who begin reporting on the situation. He then informs Sybil of the media's arrival, and addresses the law enforcement division of the mission via radio.

Bz_screentone.png

TIME : MARCH 16th, 8:45 AM

There was nothing that so cemented the fact that her teenage years had passed her by, wasted and lost, than a spot of blood at the bottom of a toilet bowl on Bz's twentieth birthday.

Bz was used to blood. She'd seen it a lot. She'd watched it pulsing out her own chest and mixed in the sand so thick it turned brown and lumpy. She knew that being stabbed sounded like bursting a hot water bottle. But for some reason, this little spot had her stomach twisting like it never had before. Her knees hit the ground before she knew it and she gripped the bowl, dry heaving.

She thought she would never bleed this way.

---

Bz clicked her heels together as she waited in line at the chemist's. Chatter pulled her ears in all directions and the fluorescent lights, despite flooding everything, felt like a spotlight singling out her. Bz kept her eyes glued to her feet and face tucked in her hoodie. All these non-variants stinking up the place... The loudest of them were a group of giggling teenage girls huddled around the magazine rack. Bz tried to subtly glance up at them from within the shadows of her hood, and caught one slip a tube of lipgloss down her shirt.

Her judging glare softened with longing as she observed them, then quickly dropped the second one looked over. A pair of glittery light-up shoes joined hers in the line. Bz flicked her eyes over. They belonged to an eleven or twelve year old girl who shared Bz's white knuckled grip on a packet of pads.

Bz almost ran when she was free of the store. Her sanitary items were safely tucked away in an inconspicuous bag but it didn't make her any less embarrassed to be carrying them. She was almost at the little alleyway that led her through to the back of her apartment complex when a snuffling and crunching sound caught her ear. Bz puttered to a stop. She turned her head back down the alleyway, fixated on the clanging coming from a couple overspilling trashcans. Ba-thump. Ba-thump. Then one of the trashcans sprouted a tail. Bone-thin and ragged, and wagging its little heart out. Bz let out a subtle sigh or relief and strayed over to crouch by the bins, offering out a hand.

A wet nose booped against her palm, followed by a dozen affectionate licks. A stray mutt barked with recognition and jumped her. Bz squeaked and dropped her shopping bag as she fell on her arse. She scratched his neck, a smile warming her face as the slobbered all over it. Eventually, she pushed him off and he went to sit nearby and scratch itself behind the ear with a foot. Bz felt a tickle on her hand. A couple lost fleas were crawling over it.

She sat up on her knees and removed her coffin backpack, fishing inside to retrieve a glass jar. The dog's ears perked up at the sight of it. He trotted over and sat by her knees without having to be told. Bz held out the jar and whistled. Plink. Plip. Tink! One after the other, fleas leapt from the dog's fur and into the jar, until they were raining down all together. When the last flea joined its brethren, the dog spun in a circle with a joyous bark - then bolted down the alleyway. Back to the streets to collect her more soldiers.

Bz looked at her jar, almost a third full of poor homeless fleas. They jumped futilely, unable to break the spell that kept them there. "..." She sank her teeth into the flesh of her thumb, and let her blood flow down into the writhing mass.

"Ew, what is that...?"

Bz jolted upright. Down the alleyway, she wasn't the only one to cut through here. The group of teenage girls from the chemist were looking down at her. One of them was applying the stolen lipgloss. Suddenly, Bz was hyper aware of her spilled bag from the chemist. She couldn't really make out what they were saying, but they were whispering and laughing, looking at Bz, her bleeding thumb and her fleas with... "Oh my god. What is she doing? Gross!"

Disgust.

Bz looked back at them and saw red.

TIME : MARCH 16th, 8:45 PM

"HAPPY birthday to me!"

Bz competed with the sirens, unable to keep her joy contained to just humming it. The WORLD had to know! She balanced on the headboard of the couches, a pair of big, winged blue sunglasses with an impenetrable glare hiding her eyes. The only thing as shiny was her teeth, twisted into a wide grin. "Happy birthday to meeee~!"

She jumped down from the couch onto one of the hostages tied up on it, right on their legs. Her big heels made a terrible crunch. She continued to sing, blissfully unaware (or goaded on) by their whimper of pain, and plopped down beside them. Her arm wrapped over their shoulders and tugged them in for a selfie. "Haaaappy biiiirthday to..." She nudged the hostage and squeezed their cheeks near the lips, making shapes. "B-izzz..." she whispered, prompting them to repeat after her.

"You psycho bitch!" They retaliated instead.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEE!"

She jumped up and finished in a fanfare, skipping up to join her other Ibara members. She slotted snugly between them and whipped a tube of lipgloss from her pocket, applying it with a POP of her lips. The very same tube of gloss shoplifted from a chemist just that morning. The shade went quite nicely with all the blood on her face.

"Aw, I bet Chika's having way more fun out there," she lamented as she listened in to the beast noises coming from outside, then sent the selfie of her and the hostage to her partner. 'Can't wait to open my presents!' #Birthdaygirl #FeelingCute

She loved her job.

Releasing a mouthful of warm breath into his palms, Rinka tried his best to fight off the intense cold, following by quickly rubbing his hands together in quick motion. He was very selective about the people who he enjoyed to be hugged by, and winter's embrace was not in the list whatsoever.

He stared off into the vehicle's window, and caught a glimpse of the sights of the night sky, particularly contemplating the massive, pewter-colored mansion far off into the distance. Supposedly that place was their objective, big political event taking place regarding Variant rights or the like. Admitedly, Rin wished he cared more about the topic, as it affected "his people". But he could not lie to himself, his mind wandered off to other topics, such as the issue at hand.

Bunch of Ibara members apparently assaulted the place and took hostiles, pretty big deal all things considered, enough to have both Law Enforcement and Special Operations squads cooperating. But above all, Rin was ultimately focused first and foremost on the one thing you could expect from his usual single-minded train of thought.

Beasts

Apparently there are sightings of beasts in the vicinity of the mansion's garden. It took little brain power to put two and two together, and realize that this was also almost surely work of Ibara. But be it naturally or brought by a group of brainwashed terrorist, Rin's blood simmered in anticipation whenever it was time to go on the field.
Few minutes later, the vehicles from the Pest Control division arrived to the mansion's vicinity from the front. Rin took a quick glance around the van, looking at the other people around, before pulling up his hood and putting on his mask.

He looked to his left and checked on his partner, Hikari, sitting beside him and clearly looking somewhat under the weather. Girl never got along with vehicles, sadly.
"Let's go, Hikari"

Gently pulling her by her forearm, Rin hastily walked out of the van and headed straight through the entrance and into the garden. Apparently, according to a couple guards, beasts were already within the inside of the garden. The boy's azure eyes shifted from side to side, looking for his prey.

"I'll be going ahead" Without another word, he sprinted into the center of the garden.

Aoi Oni | Babel Mansion | Partner: Goze

March 16th | Unknown Time

The ringing was cut off when he swiped the answer button.

Not even a shower and a soak in the jacuzzi could prepare him for the moments when Katsuo called, always something- always another. Yet this time, when he spoke- he got straight to the point. No greetings, no exchanges, no questions about how things were going- like he really cared-- because Ko knew he didn't-- no, this was just one line that told him that things had gotten serious. And that his plans for the evening had changed.

With a flatness that hinted at irritation in his voice, Katsuo laid it out plain and simple: "You'll be needed for a job tonight."

This normally followed with an exchange, him asking 'what kind' but Katsuo beat him to that too.

"And don't ask me about details, I don't know what they want you for this time- it's not everything they tell me to deliver to you, y'know? Just get your butt over to the recommended site as soon as you can- as quickly as you can. The Speaker wants you there. So be sure to be there."

His hunch had been right. He really didn't like this mission in the slightest.

But compared to the options he had and the choice Goze herself had made, it was better to go with her than participate in something that would just leave him more pissed off and disgusted with himself than this did.

Can't believe I cancelled a meet-and-greet event for this. I had that shit planned for weeks, and now look.

He didn't really bother waiting for the other members to file in. Even though he had been on missions with Ibara's members before, even as a spy, Ko had never had really worked long term with many of them that much. Not for important missions like this. Not of this size. And had always brought Chiako or someone else with him as his plus one combatant ally. Someone he could trust. Something they allowed, given the rank he had attained in five years of 'service' more or less to this org. Most of the other missions had been grunt work, but this- interrupting a political meeting? Really said something. A farcry from how he was used to working with Red Roses mostly. Rarely did he go on missions with those of the upper ranks. Particularly because neither he nor Katsuo wanted headaches unless it became a necessity.

Her seeking him out had only sped up a process which should have taken a much slower alternative than it was now.

It was times like these though that really made working with the Yakuza pay off.

He hardly paused when he saw the line of guards open fire. Not like he would have in the past. Bullets rang clear, and from experience, he knew what it'd feel like to get truly it. So even as he felt the impact of the few that made their target, his speed never faltered or slowed. His suit didn't make him immune but with the little energy he had siphoned off from the earlier interaction with Goze before coming here, he'd made it difficult at least for the bullets to pierce through his skin on top of the suit's protection.

Didn't mean the pain from every impact wasn't something he felt.

Not even bothering to draw a single weapon out, he ran ahead. Running off the wall, a high kick knocked the head of one guard back, landing, jabbing the other with his elbow in the solar plexus in a crouch, twisting on his feet and delivering and upper open palmed strike that sent the third sprawling unconscious- kneeing the one he punched in the plexus, blood went flying as he hit the floor- then grabbing the dazed one he'd kicked and headbutting her to the floor, a trickle of blood oozed from her nose with the contact as she fell weakly, dazed and then out with a twitch.

In just a few seconds, three were down. In a few more, the others were catching up. Seeing the Oni staring down at the unconscious bodies and shaking his head visibly. "Why even bother when you know you don't have a chance." His distorted voice and the coldness he said it with really made it sound like he was looking down on them, but in reality- it was just pity.

In the end it hardly mattered. Complex situations required complex approaches and this was the best he could manage. Whether he killed or didn't, he was an accomplice. Didn't mean he would kill if he could avoid it.

Grabbing one of them by the shirt, the guard groaned weakly before going still.

Just a touch, and the burning in his arm travelled through his body, warming his core. There it was. That delicious fix. The desire to feed even more. Absorbing the emotional energy that he felt upon the contact, Oni's form shifted under his gear cobalt blue and mauve suit. The yellow, orange, and black coat he wore with the hood raised over his voice-modulating full face mask and its glowing neon lights which highlighted rows of fangs, gave him a more otherworldly appearance when there were no visible eyes behind the reinforced visor he was seeing through. Toned muscle grew just a bit more beefier as he sapped energy from the one guard held in his fist- and in a second, he was slightly stronger than he had been before. Making it easier to lift the guard whose sleeve he had used as his personal wet wipe, and then grabbing the other two by the collars of their shirt and dragging them out of his way he sucked more energy out of the unconscious duo as he moved- mindful of not taking too much, despite the voracious desire to do so.

Running foot steps, and he turned a bit too late. Volley of bullets were fired. Reinforcements, he thought. Three bullets hit him in the hand, neck and with a otherwordly speed, he deflected the one that would have hit him in the temple as he immediately let go of one guard- and then swiftly rolled out of the way into the path of a wall that took the bullet fire meant for him.

"BASTARDS!" AK gun fire echoed in the halls. Ta-Ta-Ta-Ta-Ta "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" cried the bulky officer as he unloaded round after round, scattering as many of the Ibara as he could. His guards following with him.. Two going after the guards the Oni had knocked out and abandoned after being shot at. "YOU SICK SONS OF BITCHES AREN'T SETING A FOOT IN THIS ROOM, YOU HEAR ME!" And then to top it all off, one of his subordinates lobbed not a grenade, but three.

It skipped across the blood stained and bullet riddled ground, and Ko was already on the move. A blur of colors, yellow and orange, black and blue as he tapped the grenade to redirect its skipping path onwards, knocking it back into the middle of the hall, then- sensing the eyes on him, capitalized on the opportunity to enhance his body.

The explosions covered the place in dust, tiles from the walls became particles in the air-- the raka-ta-ta of gunfire came to a stop as the soldiers waited for visibility to become good enough to see.

"Shit!" one of them swore.

From within the smoke, the Oni's mask, its glowing teeth were the first visible thing they spotted. Ko himself, blitzed them right as one of the soldiers opened fire.

He ran along the wall and spiral ran from that to the ceiling to the adjacent wall, dodging bullets that trailed behind him the whole way as the officers divided their attention to him and the Ibara attacking.

Muscles flexed under his suit, the secondary layer under the first now visible as the bullets ate away at its defenses.

As another grenade was prepared, Ko roared, and his cry echoed across the hall, causing the soldier in question about to pull the pin to pause- giving him the chance to swipe the grenade, lift the shoulder and slam him so hard into his peers they all went careening into the wall adjacent with a crack where their bodies fell to the ground lifeless or unconscious. Meanwhile with the grenade in hand Ko merely tossed it into another crowd of approaching soldiers, which only managed to force them to scramble as they took the blast and were either scattered from the concussive force, or done in by the blast itself.

In minutes their work was done, and Goze moved forward to their destination to make her debut.

Riddled with flecks of blood- The Oni ignored it. He followed Goze, towering behind her, in his supernaturally enhanced form. A twitch in the tail he had created which didn't exist before. A terrible need to feed- squashed by sanity and willpower.

While Goze did the theatrics to their talking, Ko worked on releasing some of the emotional energy in his system to reclaim some of his sensibilities as his bladed hard tail swished in the air, pointing at the politicians around as he observed each one. He kept his distance, butt onle because he didn't want to end up unconsciously trying to siphon energy off the attention he was feeling swapping from him to the other Ibara members filing in around them.

Seeing Goze's interaction with Doi Murakami, from behind the mask Ko's eyes narrowed however, and his internal mantra to remember that the people around him were not to be touched, and were not to be devoured for his own gain, was put on pause.

He stared at Goze silently after that line, then with a flick of his bone thin tail turned to look at the other members that were a part of their little task force.

Here for a reason, don't forget that. He reminded himself.

Yet at the sound of sirens, he couldn't help but feel the urge to feed a bit more.

Here for a reason, don't forget that.

Whatever goals they were trying to accomplish here, there was no doubt the Union would show up in a hostage situation soon. It was better to get some of this energy out of him now before that happened.

Goze statements hadn't been a lie. She was serious about killing each hostage.

He sure as hell wouldn't be the one doing the throat slitting if he could help it.

A night of delighted chaos was the plan for the evening. Fushia hues took in the sight of the rising beasts, the screams as those in the manor were trapped like pathetic little rodents. Having spent such a stuffy morning full of meetings for future productions, it was a joy to be here, amongst the chaos, doing work for Ibara. She listened to Goze's lovely melody, humming quietly along as she followed the other woman. It was almost pitiful how easy it was to get rid of the guards in place, the poor unpowered dears. Tenshi grinned behind her mask, moving quickly to restrain the Minister of Defense. He was quite handsome, even she could admit, if only to herself. Such a shame his ideals would cause ruin to all her hardwork, and all the work Ibara has done. It was made such an individual quite hideous truthfully.

The next step was merely waiting for the Union's arrival. The sadistic side of her almost hoped that the Union didn't listen. It was quite the conflict, as she enjoyed causing some violence, and yet it was quite nice when she didn't return home soaked in blood. Allowing amusement to show in her eyes, she observed BZ bounce around, hyper and almost bursting with excitement. "What a fun way to celebrate your special day, isn't it BZ, darling?" She purred, her voice deepened and almost multiplied behind her docile smiled mask. She leaned back contently, quite shamelessly using Nishimura as her personal cushion. She was on his lap, most of her weight leaning on him. She wasn't heavy, and the power lacking man could probably push her off laughably easy if not for one of her bladed fan's laying casually at his shoulder, close to his neck. The fan, when closed, was formed into a delightfully sharp blade that could slice through flesh easily. A shove or slip of hand from her, and bye bye goes the Minister's neck. Tilting her head, the peony raised a light question, mostly aimed at the daffodils present, specifically Goze, yet it mattered little to her who answered. "This Tenshi is so curious, if and when throats are to be slashed, is there a specific order we go in?" She inquired, her tone almost casual, if not innocent, despite the morbid topic. She laughed softly, leaning closer to her hostage, tapping the side of his neck, careful to not draw any blood. Not yet anyways. There could potentially be time for that later.

augie trailed in after the rest of the group, empty white gaze scanning the area and watching as the hostages were handled quickly. bz and yumeko were already having their fun, it almost brought a smile to augie's face, but they didn't allow themself to do that; not like anyone would have been able to see it even if they had smiled. from their chest upwards, they were entirely void of colour, the only notable features being the white eyes that stared blankly ahead, along with the occasional flash of white when they spoke- their teeth, no doubt.

rather than stand around uselessly, augie glided towards one of the hostages, reaching out with spindly black fingers that began to crack and elongate, allowing augie to wrap an entire hand around the neck of the man named montique archambeau, "sit." that was the only word they uttered as they shoved him to the ground, crouching down to meet his gaze evenly. augie stayed like this for 5 long minutes, silent, unmoving, and unblinking.

suddenly, in the pitch black where their face should have been, a slit appeared accompanied by a wet ripping sound as it widened across the entire width of their 'face'; shadow lips peeled back to reveal multiple rows of razor-sharp fangs. a long forked tongue lolling out for a moment before licking what looked like blood off of their teeth and disappearing back into their mouth, "be a good boy and we won't have any problems, 'kay?" to accentuate their words, the long tail that had been curled behind their back extended and smacked montique across the face at lightning speed, slicing into the side of his cheek and drawing blood.

Hikari’s thoughts were not on the great outdoors or the mission ahead, not on the importance of where it would be happening or who was already there. She was more focused on staring at the ceiling and counting down when the drive would end.

As the pain box slowed to let its victims escape, Hikari took a deep breath of the heated air, the only reason to be inside, unbuckled her seatbelt, and wormed back from being a melted blob who wants to get off the wild ride to being a person. As her recovery began, Rinka dragged her out into the freezing cold and sprinted off. Hikari stared at his retreating figure with a disbelieving look, before turning her attention back to getting her last field preparations ready.

Hikari loaded her rifle and moved some likely unnecessary grenades and very necessary magazines to a ready position. She pulled her hood over her head and started off, first running to wake up from the hell of driving and then sprinting to catch up to Rinka dashing off to kill all the animals.

The gravity of the situation finally had a chance to set in, now that Hikari was on solid ground. All three divisions had members deployed here. Ibara had nestled themselves into the massive, sprawling mansion that dominated the skyline, keeping hostages with them. The hostages were some
of the most important people in all of Japan. This was going to be…did the term furball apply to grounded combat? In spite of the deathly serious nature of what was about to unfold, Hikari’s mind was still playing its cheerful fight music in anticipation.

It’s time.

Arona’s back pressed against the door after the other Ibara members filed into the room behind her. A scowl accompanied her crossed arms and deep stare down the hallway. She could hear the muffled noises made by the hostages and captors alike, and all it did was make her angrier. How she wished she could see the fearful looks on the hostages’ faces. Instead, she was stuck outside, waiting for Union to arrive, only being able to see the flicker of an aura through the cracks of the door.

Even worse, the worst, most annoying person in Ibara —and she’d swear it wasn’t an exaggeration— Sage, was out here with her. Who knew how long he could keep his stupid mouth shut? Not very, in Arona’s opinion.

However, the more she thought about it, she couldn’t deny it did make sense. Being able to see auras made her able to see the Spec Ops arrive before they saw her. She gave an amused huff to herself, adjusting her stance. She had already eaten more than enough before they had arrived, but she couldn’t help but hunger at the thought of the taste of a Union member’s aura.

Sure, she couldn’t see the hostages' faces, but maybe the faces of Spec Ops would be worth it.

She glanced at Sage.

…No, nothing could make this situation worth it, actually. Besides, it wasn’t necessarily guaranteed any fighting with the Union would go down, should they listen to their demands.

Ha! As if they would.

Soon enough, Arona could hear the sounds of multiple cars pulling up to the mansion, presumably Union and maybe civilians, prompting Arona to let out a 'tsk'. Anyone that went up to her and wasn’t willing to listen to Ibara was surely bound to regret it.

…But, she had to wait until they got up there first.

Boring…

With a roll of her eyes, she opted to begin filling the time by pulling her phone out of her uniform jacket and silently scrolling away, wishfully hoping that it was enough of a Sage deterrent while they waited.

Green eyes with dark bags underneath them locked onto the deputy as he spoke, intently listening to the directions. He probably could have just assumed what the mission was, but it didn't hurt to actually pay attention. After all, what kind of officer would he be if he assumed and took risks and got fired? He wouldn't. He wouldn't be an officer anymore.

The little chuckle he let out turned into a long yawn, his lack of sleep catching up to him. "Yikes," he murmured, rubbing at his eyes. He had, at least, eaten a decent meal the night before, so he wasn't too hungry. At least he usually performed well under the restrains of his own self neglect.

Val turned his attention to the gathering crowd, pondering what to do to control them without getting his hands dirty. This was a vital mission, he couldn't just goof around and expect things to work. That just wouldn't cut it - probably.

An idea came to mind. It was probably a bad idea but it was an idea nonetheless. The public and media were here because some well-know people were in danger. Saying that everything was fine probably wouldn't fly, so why not take a creative approach to the issue? Why not distract the crowd and give the media something to talk about?

With an (admittedly awful) plan in mind, Val began to work on completing step one - finding Bradley Barker in the sea of officers and detectives. Though they were not partners, Val liked to consider Brad as his partner in crime, especially when it came to things like this. The power of an influencer would be beneficial to him in this plan. At least, he hoped so. If it didn't work out, then it would end up being business as usual. But even in such a grave situation, there had to be room for something to ease the mood, right?

Complaints, fear mongering, and confused shouts washed over the crowd in waves. Each time the noise and restlessness surged forth, Alice stared sternly into the eyes of those who dared approach the police line. “P-please stand back. I don’t wish to use force.” and “We cannot afford the situation escalating.” were among the many words running her throat dry. Coming from a young lady who would have been mistaken for a child were it not for her uniform, her words didn’t seem as intimidating as she’d hoped. The occasional stutter didn’t help. Fortunately, the more brash individuals who stepped forward hesitated the moment the large suit of armor to the escort’s right clinked as it turned its head towards anyone who came too close.

It was a job that fell upon the shoulders of the Law Enforcement Division frequently. Except this time mistakes would have severe repercussions given the status of the people trapped within the building. Naturally, the media ate up such incidents like ravenous beasts, and Alice eyed the van evidently belonging to news reporters warily. Mass media never cared for whether their report coverage did more harm than good. So long as they could reap the benefits of a good scoop, they wrote up whatever tall tale would entrance the audience the most. Just like how they did whenever Union personnel died in some horrific way. She wished there was a way to ban them from crime scenes such as their current location, but it was unfortunate that doing so would only lead to backlash and the spread of rumors accusing Union of covering something up. Ah, her stomach hurts from the stress…

In the midst of her grumbling, Sanban’s reminder of the objective of their current mission prompted her to make her own report. “Nothing of note on the Western Perimeter.” she said, before adding, “Keep vigilant, and take care not to do anything that will cause the media to give the PR Department a hard time.” Good, she didn’t stutter this time. Releasing a shaky breath, she braced herself against Tristan to keep her balance as the metal puppet bent down to gather her in its arms. As it stood back up, she shook off the vertigo from the sudden rise in elevation and peered out towards the crowd. Yes, this view was a lot better.

And Kamiko thought today wouldn't be interesting.

She was winding down in her quarters when the call came in. An active hostage situation at the Babel mansion. How convenient that it so happened many well-known political figures were present at the mansion. Kamiko didnt need to be told who was behind it. No ordinary civilian would be willing to risk their lives for something so high risk.

As the captain neared the mansion, she took quick note of the crowd that had amassed outside the perimeter. Law enforcement officers had already set up a barrier around the house, keeping them away. However, Kamiko was sure within the crowd, media crews were recording everything going on. Today's event would be headline topic for the next few weeks, surely. All they could do now was mitigate the fallout. If the Union does anything but rescue the hostages and capture the culprits, the reputation of the organization would fall.

Kamiko parked her car off to the side, where many other Union vehicles were, getting out. Fully geared up, she double checked she had everything with her before beginning to walk through the crowd, pushing past the individual people. As soon as she reached the barricade, she noticed a familiar face.

One of the law enforcement deputies, Sasha. The Chief's sibling. No surprise he was present. Sybil was most likely still at HQ monitoring the situation from there.

Kamiko walked up to the deputy. making sure he saw her coming. Kamiko didnt bother identifying herself, walking right past him towards the mansion. Her eyes darted around, making observations. Before she left the Union HQ, she had her sister pull up blueprints of the mansion to analyze the layout. According to intelligence, the meeting was on the second floor, in one the side rooms.

She reached up to a small black device clipped at the collar of her shirt, pressing down a button on the side. She spoke quietly, but the special throat mic around her neck picked up the vibrations, transmitting her voice over the radio, addressing the other specialists.

"On scene. Check in when able, then fall in on me. We'll enter on the right side, away from where the meeting room is, then make our way through the building. Lyss, I need information on where people are located within the room. Shift into an insect, take note of where everyone is, then meet us inside.”
[...]

Kamiko peered around the corner, making sure that no one was wandering towards their direction. She knew that the captors were aware of the Union's presence. Law enforcement weren’t exactly subtle, and with the crowd now around the property, it was a clear sign something was up.

Kamiko turned back to the group that was with her, speaking quietly.

“Remember, be on your guard but do not provoke anyone. The last thing we need is someone to get spooked and preemptively kill one of the hostages. When things kick off, Andri, you’re responsible for the Minister of Defense. Renji, Alestra, get on the outside of the building and under windows of the room, then wait for my cue to crash in. Everyone else, you’ll stay behind me and wait for my signal.”

Kamiko looked back around the corner, listening to see if the state of the situation had changed. There was no doubt the Ibara members were on alert, so the best course of action was to talk them down, and give her specialists the chance to strike.

“Lyss, what does the room look like?”

With every tap against her knee, her nail scratched against her pant leg — clawing impatiently as the Babel Mansion came into view. Who the fuck cared about these people? Rich and entitled idiots, bitching back and forth about granting Variants basic human rights. The irony of the Union sending its own to rescue these fucks was almost laughable. Almost. Aelestra's eyebrows remained furrowed as her attention was fixated on the mansion itself. How much money was stolen from the common people to build this? A fuckton. Imagine if they had an ounce of common sense. Imagine if they put the money into making renouncers affordable. The world would be a lot less shitty. There would be a lot less deaths. Her father would have been a lot less of an asshole. Her mother would have been a lot less of a bitch. Her brother, Atlas …!

Oranges.

The familiar citrus scent yanked her attention away from her anger for a split second. Her sharp eyes darted to her partner that was seated next to her in the vehicle. Too close. If she could smell him, he was too fucking close to her. 'Wipe that grin off your face before I do it for you,' she signed to him before shoving him away with her hand. He always reminded her why she hated riding with others. The vehicle was too fucking cramped. It didn't help that both of them were tall as well.

Aelestra looked back out the window, trying to refocus on the objective they were given. Rescue the shitheads that didn't value their lives. However, the more she tried to focus on that, the more she could feel Renji in the background. Her neck snapped back to him and her muscles tensed in anger as she saw the same grin plastered on his face. Clenching her teeth, she threw her hand out to grab a clump of his hair. She pulled him towards her harshly, using her other hand to pull his face mask over his nose to conceal his grin. Now that there was one annoyance out of the way, she let go of him — surprisingly without a follow-up shove. That damn smile was so annoying sometimes. Even so, she'd rather deal with that for another year than partner up with any of her old overseers. Shitheads, all of them.

Once their vehicle pulled up to the rendezvous, Aelestra was quick to hop out, wanting to get this mission done and over with already. She inhaled deeply, filling her lungs with the sweet, cold air. Colder climates always seemed to be able to calm her down and it was noticeable when her eyebrows unfurrowed for once. While everyone else complained about the temperature, she was in her element.

She took in another deep breath of cold air before pulling her own face mask up. Looking at her partner, she made a subtle gesture for him to follow with the rest of the Spec Ops agents toward the entrance of the mansion. They passed by a bunch of Law Enforcement goons, a few of them rubbing their hands together to stay warm. She rolled her eyes at the sight but her gaze wandered to the fingerless gloves that Renji wore. With a huff, she dug through the side pocket of her pants before throwing properly insulated gloves at his chest for him to catch. Wouldn't want her own partner holding her back because he got cold.

When they met up with their captain, Aelestra folded her arms, looking past Kamiko to avoid eye contact. Why couldn’t they just rush in and kill them all? A few dead hostages didn’t concern her. Instead, they wanted to play it slow. Annoying. She let out a huff at the directions given to her and Renji before turning and walking away from the rest of the specialists. Sit and wait. What, were they Law Enforcement? Aelestra hated waiting on others.

Unlatching the nearest window, she started to climb out — only looking back to make sure her partner was following. ‘Don’t slip.’ She then reached to pull herself up and onto the roof, briefly waiting for Renji before starting to make her way across the other side of the mansion.

Aelestra stopped just before they were above the meeting room, crouching down as she took a moment to determine where to create her ice. The outside temperature was cold enough to sustain her ice, it wouldn’t be melting any time soon. They did have a better position on the roof though as opposed to being out in the open waiting underneath a window. She turned to look at Renji, ‘we wait here.’

As the small van pulled up behind a comparatively giant one, the ponytailed woman behind the wheel observed the people outside with a contemplative look before opening her door and turning to the red-haired man in the seat beside her. The man was fidgeting with the camera in his hands, completely unaware of the fact they had parked.

That was until the woman suddenly pointed towards the group of Officers standing in front of the mansion. “Toshi, pay attention!”

The man looked up from the camera he was messing with with a startle. “Huh—?” He turned his head to the window, leaning forward to look past the lady. With a gasp, he crawled over her to get out of the van. “Why didn’t you say we got here earlier!? That’s the Union, Usagi!”

“I —agh— I know that!” she said, helping him out of the van and promptly following him. “Go get the equipment.”

unknown.png
“Already on it, Usa!”

As fast as possible, a video camera and microphone were retrieved from the back of the van before the two awkwardly stood beside it. They stared with an air of determination towards the group of Law Enforcement, though they didn’t really know what to do.

That is, until Toshiaki pointed towards a black-haired member. “Them! They look like they know what’s what!”

Usagi’s eyes followed Toshi’s finger, landing on the woman. She nodded in agreement. “Definitely,” she said, before standing in front of Toshiaki and putting the microphone up to her face. In sync, her friend held up the camera. Toshiaki took a moment to listen to the words coming out of his ear piece.

“They’re switching to this cam in 5… 4… 3… 2…!”

“I know, I can hear them too— Ahem. Yes, Igarashi. We’re standing here in front of Babel Mansion, where many people have been taken hostage. Right behind us is the Law Enforcement Division, who came along with, you’d never guess, both other divisions of the Union. While the other two divisions are inside, let’s get the inside scoop from one of the officers.”

Usagi did an awkward jog backwards until she actually turned around to get to Lilith. Reading the codename on Lilith’s uniform she continued. “This is YL-13. YL-13, I’m Nakao, Usagi, from Unlimited News. We’d love to get your input on this whole situation? What’s going on?”

The sounds of stealthy feet made their way to the garden of Babel Mansion. Yuri had to be careful to avoid on not running ahead of the current lead, Aika. Unsurprisingly, he wasn't good at holding back or being excited about a skirmish. With sheer will and concentration, he had managed not to run past the leader. As they made their way to the outskirts of the garden and Aika explained in further detail, anyone could tell that Yuri was beginning to feel antsy.

With a hand on his hip, he lifted the bag that currently contained his own jar of ash. He looked down at the bag with a slightly-curious glint in his eye. "Not exactly the most exciting job, is it? Neh, Lucy?" The dark-haired man turned to Cecilly. He was honestly curious about how she felt about the assigned job. While they would have most definitely felt more comfortable with causing discord in the hostages, they had actually been recommended to the current assignment. Which... he couldn't necessarily blame the executives for wanting the pair to stay away from the hostages. They probably would've made the hostages do a battle royale and then set the mansion ablaze (with the winner inside). However, he wouldn't take this current assignment any less seriously or get a certain level of enjoyment out of it.

When Aika deployed them, Yuri was quick to begin the distribution of ash and handling of beasts. With cat-like reflexes and stealth, Yuri's body moved fluidly through the garden. It would not take the young man too long to finish his own accumulation of ash. As soon as he had completed the task, he quickly receded to a hiding spot to view his handiwork. While he truly wanted to handle the hostages, his ability and expertise in stealth were better suited in the handling of ash and beasts.

The dark-haired man's sharp gaze watched the beasts with absolute delight. While Yuri had never particularly liked the creatures, he still admired their nature. They were truly beings of their own instinct: destructive, violent and powerful. "Now, let's see what the Union's "Beast Extermination Division" has to offer?" A toothy grin spread across his face. His curiosity on how the Beast Extermination Division would handle each other was currently overriding his intense need to pounce on the first opponent.

However, the first person to appear in the center of the garden was honestly... not what the dark-haired man had expected. "Are they sending in children to do their dirty work?" Yuri scoffed with a sigh. His previously amused face had turned into a disappointed scowl. Perhaps he was a bit too old to be sulking, but that didn't stop him from doing it. Something in him, though, told him to stay hidden and watch. He knew that he had to be patient and wait and see what would happen, but honestly he was feeling a bit sour at the moment.

As Kamiko instructed them, the pink-haired man remained quiet. Mainly out of respect to the pale-haired woman. Despite her rather abrasive personality, Eri actually admired her. When he was assigned as a specialist, he had been rather intimidated by the young woman. She was blunt, to say the least, and that had not initially meshed well with Eri's rather sensitive nature. Even now, there was probably a small drift between the two. However, that would not stop the young man from listening to his superior.

However, Eri's eyes gazed over carefully at his partner. Tyler was probably as equally abrasive as the captain. He was also more likely to act quickly and he wondered if he would have to restrain the dark-haired man from rushing in. They needed to remain behind the captain and not make any sudden movements.

do not allow anyone to enter, keep your eyes sharp, report suspicious faces, and use force if necessary. non-lethal. lilith repeated law's orders in her mind as she took her position at the perimeter. truthfully, this was boring as hell, but lilith wasn't going to slack off just because she wasn't having any fun. this was important and they couldn't have these civilians screwing it up and making the mess worse than it already was.

rolling her shoulders back and straightening her posture, lilith crossed her arms over her chest as she scanned the crowd, taking note of how it continued to grow in size. this was going to make things much more difficult, especially with the number of protesters also growing, "how irritating." lilith's eyes narrowed, challenging anyone who dared meet her gaze to take a step closer, watching as they shrank back into the crowd each time.

one man, in particular, made eye contact with lilith and didn't look away, a tall guy with bright eyes and dark hair, fighting the urge to shrink under her intense glare. he approached lilith slowly as though to test the waters, seeing how close he could get before she raised a hand to stop him once he was a foot or two away from her. tilting her head up slightly to look him in the eyes, a venomous smile spreading across her lips, "can i help you, sir?"

"ma'am, if i could-"
he started but wasn't even given a chance to finish his sentence before he was abruptly cut off.

"no."

"you didn't let me finish, i just want-"

"no."

"you're being a bit unreasonable, don't you think? i need-"

"what about the word no do you not understand? is it so hard to wrap your tiny brain around the concept of someone saying no to you?"
lilith didn't have the time to deal with an idiot like this, she had to focus on her job and couldn't do that if he kept pestering her. clearly, this wasn't what he wanted to hear because his next move was to get right in her face, so close she could feel his breath on her cheek.

"i've had enough of your bullshit, you will let me ask my question, and then you will give me an answer."

lilith recoiled in disgust, placing a hand on his chest and pushing him away from her, "take a step back, sir, or i will have to resort to using force." the man opened his mouth to reply as he took a step forward again, ready to start arguing, but lilith was tired of dealing with him. with an irritated huff, she pulled her arm back and drove the palm of her hand directly into his chest. it wasn't enough to cause any permanent damage, but it was enough to send him flying a couple of feet backward, landing flat on his back, "i warned you what would happen, now back up and don't approach me again." lilith's gaze darted around at the large group of people that had witnessed that and she scowled, "that goes for the rest of you as well. keep your distance."

lilith's expression was back to being stone cold as she glared at anyone who tried to get closer, but that didn't deter everyone like she hoped it would. two more individuals approached her not long after the incident with the stranger, one equipped with a microphone and the other a camera. lilith groaned internally, fighting the urge to roll her eyes, "fucking reporters..." she muttered under her breath, sighing and opting to ignore them entirely, acting as though she hadn't seen them. unfortunately, that didn't last long when they finally got up to her and addressed her directly.

“this is YL-13. YL-13, i’m nakao, usagi, from unlimited news. we’d love to get your input on this whole situation. what’s going on?”

lilith turned to the one called usagi with a sweet smile, "how lovely to meet you. at this time, i can't disclose any information about what is going on." in a single second her expression went from sweet and approachable, to irritated and intimidating; her glowing red eyes narrowing once more as she stared down at the reporters, "i will only say this to you once, take a step back."

Cramped and musty, he was used to that. The dull reek of sweat and deodorant was a staple to Tyler, and the pressure cooker that was the back of the transport was bouncing along at a steady pace, something that made sleep almost impossible, Tyler had been leaning his head against the back of the side of the transport for the past half hour, but decided that he wasn't getting any sleep thanks to whoever was driving. Deciding to Look forward, he saw Alestra shove Renji, and then grabb Renji's hair to pull a mask over his face, he scoffed. what a bunch of amateurs he had been sent to work with, how a hostage situation had even broken out in the first place was beyond him. Either gross incompetence, negligence, or both had seemed to spread like a disease in the upper echelons of command and the civilian government and was most likely the cause of this crisis. Good to see some things never change wherever you go.

After they arrived at the lavish mansion, which was probably built with taxpayer dollars, Tyler inhaled the night air, stinging his lungs in a way that reminded him of winter time back in the states. he had omitted a helmet in favor of a beanie to keep warm. he gathered his gear and fiddled with the sight on his rifle, lowering the magnification of the optic to the minimum, he doubted he would in be any long distance engagements in the mansion, after filling his chest rig with pistol and rifle magazines. He joined the rest of the special operations team behind Kamiko.

Click click click

Tyler flicked the safety of his rifle on and off, and then on again. An idle habit. He was starting to irritated, what the fuck were they waiting around for, The terrorists inside the room to start preaching about variant superiority and to make outlandish demands for government reform. Or were they waiting until someone was killed by the extremists. "Man, the fuck are we waiting for..." Tyler
said in a hushed but assertive voice to the rest of the spec ops memebers around him. "I say we just throw a couple flashes, breach, and start stacking bodies." Tyler rolled his shoulders as he clicked the safety of the rifle one last time, leaving it on fire, preparing for the inevitable conflict.

The chill of the night hugged Cecil’s frame like a familiar friend, eyes narrowed as they peered over Yuri’s shoulder. Her gaze almost appeared to be disinterested, maybe a tad bit distant, but that was normal and to be expected. Currently they’d been assigned to this mission that was arguably more dull than wandering around a library. They were required to be quiet, stealthy, and to do their intended task with haste. Yuri's specialty but still... What a fucking bore. Those piano-like fingers were clutching a small sack of dust, given to her once they’d arrived on the scene of their intended target.

Great minds think alike. '' She replied flatly, tone sounding extremely insistently impatient. Truthfully she was itching for some action, the darkness around her desiring to spread out like a wildfire to consume all it could reach and touch. Instead of being inside and bringing the people occupying the mansion to their knees, Cecil was outside sprinkling shit around like a damn makeshift gardener. A noise of disdain pushed past her lips as she crept into the night, the one place that brought her to life, and she mimicked her partner, Yuri. Her attempts were half assed and done with little effort, the dust being haphazardly spread about before she nonchalantly tossed the bag into a nearby bush and fled to the safety veiling of the shadows. There was something admittedly morbid about the entire thing, like someone spreading human remains in a place for 'resting'. It may have bothered the other side of her but this her, coated in the darkness, didn't think much of it. A job was a job.

Done already? Usually you’re much more…. attentive to detail. “ She mocked, eyes glowing as she rested her chin on Yuri’s shoulder, coming up from behind him, and stared out in the same direction he was.

“ I’m sure whatever they have to offer will be disappointing. They’re probably having much more fun than we are inside. We better get to stir shit up too or I’m finding a way to burn the mansion down. I do find the screams of those on fire to be quite lulling. “ Ceci shifted slightly, eyes drawing to a close since there was nothing even remotely exciting happening or going on around them.

That was cut off as movement crept along the garden, exposing someone who did arguably look way too young to be there. Yuri’s comment had those eyelids lifting, gaze landing on the culprit with curiosity. “ You know what they say about children, Abby. ~ They love to play. “ Ceci said in a completely different tone than before as a smile began to tug at her lips, widening with each passing second until it all but consumed half of her face. “ Oh don’t be disappointed. Where one goes, many are sure to follow. “ She sang out softly, voice hushed but there was something taunting about the way she spoke, eyes following the lone figure like a predator who wanted to toy with its prey. " Can I play with them yet? " She inquired, head tilting which caused the faded pink hue of her silky soft strands to slide along Yuri's skin.

Goze walked briskly among the struggling hostages—past the energetic Bz and the horrific Augie's performance—gently singing the tune on repeat. So far, everything ran smoothly. The Union was only a flight of stairs down, which meant they could begin the next part of the plan. As her hums returned to her, mapping out the layout of the room, Goze turned her head towards Tenshi just as she inquired about the order of hostages to go down.

"Can you let go of me...?" Doi Murakami's voice bounced along, making Goze pause. "I won't try anything. I promise..."

Adorable.

"Whatever you say," she playfully spoke, though letting go of the loving girl.

On Yumeko's end, the Minister of Defense was not having a great time. Though Noboru tried remaining stoic and calm, the closeness of Tenshi—and not just her body—had his nerves firing off in alarm. While he dared not say anything before, he definitely did not consider uttering a thing as the fan blades rubbed his neck.

"Tenshi, my dear..." Goze approached the two, getting close enough that she put a hand on Yumeko's leg, which slid down to Noboru's own. "You are the judge of that. Though I'm going to borrow Nishimura for a little!" Goze nudged her friend until she got off, or at least relented the man. With a new victim hand-in-hand, she went to the door they came in.

Doi and Noboru shared a glance with each other—one with worry, and the other with signature indifference. Though before he set foot out the room, Doi called out one last time. "You shouldn't hurt him." A simple remark, though enough to pause the pair. Doi kept her hands close to her chest, as though just barely keeping from breaking down. "Excessive violence will not change things for the better... there are more ways to get what you want, rather than bloodshed... at least keep that in mind." She could have sworn that Noboru's expression softened a little.

The two continued, passing Arona and Sage, who guarded the door. But there was one last pause from Goze, and she turned to the room. "Aoi Oni." Her head followed him. "You're joining me! As partners, we should have our back, and I need you to be my eyes. The Sakura would like that, hm?" Then she glossed among the others. "If any of you wish to tag along, now's your chance. However, the most important thing is to keep the rest of our little friends nice and protected!"

At last, she was off, dragging Noboru behind her as he helplessly kept his poise. At one point, he raised the courage to mutter a, "We can talk..." only to be interrupted by Goze's much louder and harsher voice, bouncing through the rooms and to the ears of the Union below. "I have the Minister's life in my hands," her message started. "If you wish for him to live, I have Demands—the first being for a live camera to grace us face-to-face; on the news. It is my gracious duty to relay the Sakura's message to the world..."

Aya, still with her hands up and instinctively on her knees as though being arrested, finally spoke up. "Though I do not sense valid reason from any of you... would it hurt to allow me a phone? My lovely wife is waiting for me at home, and I must call her or else she'll freak out... The building is surrounded, anyway; there's nothing else for me to call that isn't already outside."

"You damn freaks!"
The coarse voice came from none other than Shizuko, relentlessly struggling against her ensnarement with wolf-like ferocity on her countenance. "You're just going to kill Nishimura like every other person you infected get your hands on! The world would be so much better without you people polluting our livelihoods!"

Montique stumbled back from Augie's assault, gritting his teeth throughout. Though he had Enhanced Reflexes, there wasn't much merit to agitating the attackers even more. As his hand wiped the dripping blood from his cheek, Montique sat still. He could only bide his time and hope that the Union had a plan. "For wanting an opportunity for infectees to get into government, you're not making a good case for it..." And, though he didn't say anything else out of caution of attracting less attention to himself, he wished that at least Shizuko shut up. One of them, however, seemed to speak his mind, albeit much more gently.

"Please... If we do as they say, you'll all make it home safe." Doi looked as if she was pleading with the hostages. Montique grimaced—she didn't deserve to be caught up in this mess... But... could it be that Ibara attacked solely because of her presence? She was their founder's granddaughter; if they wanted to abduct her for whatever gains, this was certainly a showy way... Montique couldn't brainstorm any longer, however, as the other person in the room rose to his feet, hands in the air.

Kotone Yasuda confidently stood, a smirk plastered on his face. "Look, I had no part in this debate whatsoever... I merely offered up my house as a place for them to meet—which, by the way, please don't scratch things up too much, I had foreign interior designers come in from France to spruce this place up, and those guys—I don't know if it's because they're French or what, but—they take so. Much. Money!" Kotone did a swift turn to the apprehended Montique, "No offense, Archambeau," then turned back around to the attackers. "Sure, sure, wine and snails are probably way expensive over there. Ah! Speaking of money! I have some business which I think you'd wanna hear before you..." he clenched his teeth as he spoke the last few words... "tie me up like the others..."

"Point is, I'm hella rich, and I can help you Ibara people. So whaddya say? Wanna take one for the team? Hear a guy out, secure tons of moolah and resources for your little cult things that you do, and maybe score some brownie points for your Sakura or whatever?"

7917712B-07C8-4A11-B1BD-1793ED9A4592.jpegMint straigthened up at the media’s arrival, fixing her slouch and stuffing a half-eaten bagel back into her packets. The last few times she chowed in front of the cams, she got chewed out in turn. Something something professionalism. But she got the memo now.

The other divisions were already doing their part in the danger zone. There was no excuse for flippancy. She just had to keep to civvies out, as the deputy instructed. Simple enough.

Ibara’s involvement was always bad news, but it unfortunately also made for some good headlines. And the two things she could always count on were the media shoving their noses where they shouldn’t, and a nearby rock. These folks were a right pain in the ass, but it wasn’t the reporters that bothered her. It was the cameramen. They compromised her ability.

To everyone but her Union co-workers, Mint appeared as a large and burly man. Imposing enough to deter the average passersby from approaching. The illusion didn’t hold up on the live-feed, however, and a few noticed the discrepancies.

The perceptive or intrepid in the crowd approached with a slew of questions she couldn’t be bothered to answer. When her warnings to back off fell on deaf ears, she nudged her partner in exasperation. “Hey, Shiko. These guys ain’t listenin’. Let’s just beat ‘em up.” She urged. The deputy had already approved the use of force, so what was the harm?

Tatsuo Iori | Captain| CS

Tatsuo Iori was not meant for the role of Captain—more or less for the Beast Extermination division. Those thoughts had popped into her mind more than a few times; her own religion forbid the mutilation of living creatures, and Beasts certainly fell under the criteria. She was just fine in her previous role as an Angel... but their previous Captain, Montique Archambeau, saw something in her. Something that pushed through the boundaries of her beliefs and what she thought of herself.

As she walked through the crowd, decked in the assigned gear and outfit, a mass swarm of white orbs followed her trail. It was as if the entire branch of the Union was here; perhaps that wasn't too farfetched of a statement. With many important figures now held hostage, all of Japan likely had their eyes on the situation.

But out of all the things occurring at once, Tatsuo had her focus on the one task of her division's: the Beasts ruling the garden.

The rest of her division was not yet here... save for the partners she knew as Rinka and Hikari. Their vehicle was not too far off—empty—and hence the reason she was rushed a little more this time.

Tatsuo nodded courteously to her peers as she passed by, bee-lining straight towards the garden.

It didn't take long for her to spot both of them charging directly amid it all. Even from the entrance outside, she could see the several Beasts coming from the sides, flanking towards the unaware Hunters. Quickly thinking, Tatsuo took a breath, raising her gohei in the air...

Controlled breathing. A clear mind. The kami flew forth.

Like a barrage of missiles, each orb took on a life of its own, flying to its assigned targets. Each homed in on a Beast, crashing onto their heads and tripping them over. That made just enough time for the rest of the kami to form a kind of scoop that flew after Rinka and Hikari. "Get back!" Tatsuo shouted, thrashing her gohei backward. At the same motion, the clumps of aura holding the two whipped back towards the door where the miko remained.

She tapped the bottom of the gohei against the floor, and all the separated orbs flew up in unison, revealing the snarling Beasts momentarily before they dove back into the cover of the foliage.

At last, Tatsuo turned to her Hunters with a look of concern. "Are you alright? Why did you jump in by yourselves? Beasts are never to be taken lightly, especially not in a labyrinthian environment like here..."

She was their Captain, and she was the one to lead her team through safely, no matter what.
