NOTES

Hello! Here's a few reminders and notes for the CS sheets. On the next few tabs you may find the forms, along with the code we used for our CSes, and a character list. The CS sheets were created/designed by Kit, with HUGE thanks to Nano Nano for streamlining the code and making it mobile-friendly (and just better in general)!!! (scroll!)


1. CREDIT! YOUR! IMAGES!! It's required.

2. Char max is 2.

3. Higher-up positions are APPLICATION-based. In the 'rank' or 'flower' section, you will put APPLYING FOR [position] if you wish to be in a limited rank.

4. Age minimum for characters is 16. They can join Ibara before 16, but as of right now, in canon, they must be 16 or older.

5. Canon will start on March 16th, 2037.

6. You may either choose a partner or enter our raffle. More raffle info will be in the Discord server, besties.
--Speaking of, if you think the cses here are really cool and epic but you aren't in the rp, you should definitely join us (and our server)

7. Using our code is entirely optional. We just thought it'd be fun ^^

8. At the bottom of the first tab of the cs sheets are a place for your characters to "write/stamp their signatures". You're welcome to change the font on your characters signature thing. For ease, here's a list of fonts

    HISTORY/BACKGROUND: Sybil is the eldest of three siblings born to a mother in the police force and a stay at home dad. Growing up, she had a strong interest in science and adventuring, possibly planted by stories her mom told about being a cop. She often lied to her parents about her skills and intelligence and frequently skipped classes, instead opting to teach herself many things on her own. Though for the first few years of her life, her first partner was her oldest brother, he had grown distant. Due to the older one becoming more free-spirited and off on his own most of the time, Sybil had taken a liking to her youngest brother. They became close through and despite Sybil's horrific treatment towards him.

    At age 24, Sybil joined the Union, and a year later, her youngest brother followed suit, despite their mother being disappointed in their choice. Her other brother, however, didn't. Over 6 years, Sybil quickly rose in ranks, until, three years ago, when she became Chief. Around that time, there was a significant surge of hellspawn appearing in the hands of the Union. ...One can only wonder why.

    HISTORY/BACKGROUND:
    Kamiko grew up normally until her variant matured and showed. Her normal life ended and her father, a Union employee, conditioned and trained her to join when she was of age. She went 3 years as a specialist alongside her sister, performing exceptionally. An incident involving beasts occurred in her hometown and her parents were killed. Kamiko took leave, but during that time the previous captain and deputies had a falling out and the Director offered Kamiko and her sister the positions. Kamiko accepted and serves as captain ever since.

    Technically, Kamiko was born second, 3 minutes behind her twin. Her parents were initially worried when they found out their first daughter was a second variant. But, as if the gods were smiling down, their second daughter was found to be a first variant. It wasn't until age 4 when the twins formed a contract between one another, with the guidance of their parents.

    The twins grew up in the medium sized town of Yamakita, within the Kanagawa prefecture. Life for them was relatively quiet, growing up like an other child. While their father worked, their mother remained home to take care of the girls as they attended school.

    It wasn't until the age of 12 when Kamiko discovered her abilities, simply wanting to help her father move some boxes one weekend. She came up to one that was supposedly too heavy for her to life, but her special Overdrive state kicked in subconsciously, allowing her to lift it with near ease. Once she placed it back down, she felt more exhausted than normal, and her father immediately recognized her condition. Instead of taking her to a doctor however, Kamiko was brought to her father's workplace, the Union.

    Kamiko underwent an examination to see what kind of enhancement she had. Most of the tasks she performed pointed towards enhanced strength. It wasn't until one doctor suggested simulating a combat environment that Kamiko's full variant showed. Her reactions and movement were much more quicker. The sensors on her body were getting readings that didnt register on any scale.

    Her normal life ceased to exist after that. Kamiko was withdrawn from school and the rest of her growing years was spent conditioning Kamiko to eventually join the Union after her father. She was enrolled in multiple martial arts classes and during her free time, her father taught her how to use a gun. Kamiko entered the Union ranks at the age of 15. After undergoing the organization's recruitment process, she was immediately transferred to the special forces program. There, she learned the rest of the skills she now posses. Once they were officially made specialists, Kamiko and her sister moved out of their home to Tokyo where they could live closer to headquarters.

    Kamiko served as a specialist for the first 3 years, with her twin as her partner. Together, the two worked well and delivered exceptional results to the captain at the time. Ranging from assisting Law Enforcement to hunting down known Ibara contacts, Kamiko was able to do it all.

    On March 14, 2020, Kamiko was deployed with other specialists and hunters to her hometown after confirmed reports were received of a large beast presence, with orders to capture a decent amount of them for study. Upon arriving, she was greeted with the sight of fire and destruction as she watched beasts running through the streets, cutting down innocents, their blood splattered on the ground.

    Kamiko quickly went to her old home, hoping to find her parents. But, upon arriving, Kamiko was greeted to an open front door and blood stains on the ground. The remains of what were her parents were found in the living area, having been mangled and feasted on. The typically stoic and collected girl became broken. Only a few beasts remained, the rest slaughtered.

    After the situation calmed down, Kamiko personally collected her parents' bodies, taking them to be cremated. Their ashes were later buried away at their family grave.

    Kamiko took leave from the Union right after, minimizing her communication with them. The last thing she needed was to be reminded of the events prior. Kamiko was a week and a half into her leave when she was contacted by the Director of the Union. They offered their condolences, and also offered her the position of captain with her twin alongside as deputy. During her leave, a falling out with the previous captain and deputies occured, leaving special operations without leadership. The Director found Kamiko and her twin more than capable to lead the division.

    Kamiko took a day to decide before accepting the offer alongside Sumiko. Ever since, Kamiko served as the Union's Special Operations captain.

    Tatsuo is a composed and elegant lady, maintaining a quiet presence unless directly spoken to. Her long black hair, shiny smooth, practically floats behind her as she walks. Other than that, her image is pretty simple. She is usually seen in her miko attire, sometimes sporting a red ribbon on the back of her head. Those who speak to Tatsuo find themselves confronted with a naturally sharp gaze and neutral appearance overall, which leads to people taking her as someone more cutthroat and serious than she really is.

    MISC: It's uncommon to spot Tatsuo wearing anything other than a miko outfit or her Beast Extermination uniform. She opts to spend most of her freetime tending to the base's shrine, even typically being last to go home.

    The only time Tatsuo will show a hint of displeasure would be if you lacked simple respect and failed to follow the basic traditions and rules within the HQ's shrine. Fortunately, the agents here are wise...

    HISTORY/BACKGROUND:
    Tatsuo perked up, and before her was the bright orange kitsune. It stared at her motionlessly, digging its gaze into the girl. Even through the dark of night, Tatsuo somehow understood what it wanted: for her to follow. As it hopped through the bush it came from, she did as well.

    The trail was pitch black, and every step she took barefoot made a repulsive squish between her toes. But she faithfully followed the kitsune, and she ended up in a place that wasn't anywhere like her small community in Izu. A bright lavender hue set in, and she walked a dry, dirt road beneath hundreds of enormous torii gates. With nowhere else to go, Tatsuo followed the kitsune through the path. Halfway through, thousands of white orbs swirled around as if to eye her. At the final torii gate, a vast expanse of peace and conviction entered her mind.

    Tatsuo went limp, floating in the air in a lying-down position. The orb spread out, and it was as if she were adrift in space.

    Then her eyes fluttered open, and the morning sun peeked through her window. She was in her bedroom... yet still floating, and still with the swarm of orbs surrounding her. Her father walked in after hearing a commotion, blanching at the sight. He believed then and there that his daughter was blessed by the kami.

    Whether the dream had any spiritual meaning or not, Tatsuo—the daughter of a Shinto priest—changed from that point, leaning further into piety than ever, choosing to spend her time helping at the local shrine with her father; she developed a placid mindset. Word spread across the small community of the happenings with Tatsuo, only earning more revere from the closely knit people. At the same token, they didn't consider Devil's Wrath or the extent of Tatsuo's phenomenon.

    At some point, she and her family moved to Tokyo. Tatsuo's father and herself volunteered to maintain the Branch Headquarters' shrine. But Tatsuo had other ambitions. Desiring to help people without the necessity of repressing them, she approached the Captain of the Beast Extermination Division at the time, Montique Archambeau.

    After bouts of basic lessons lasting a period of time, Tatsuo was accepted into the division at 16 years old, and has gained a reputation of playing a mixed role of an "Angel" and a force against beasts. She has remained with the squad from then on.

    Montique has since stepped down from Beast Extermination Captain because of a transfer order, sending him back to France. Before he left, he appointed Tatsuo as the new captain, and it has been that way for the past year.

    She suddenly began sinking a ton of money into Ibara at a decently young age —an act somehow not found suspicious by her family— striving for the cult to let her in —and eventually, they did.     Goze comes across as a carefree songbird, joyously wandering wherever she pleases while always singing the same old hymns. She carries a playful attitude regardless of who she's with or what her mission is. Often compared to a child's mindset, she freely carries herself around other people without a care in the world—and being very ditzy while at it. Within Ibara, Bunko leans more into the delusional cult aspect, eating up the Sakura's words as the only truth there is and blindly (no pun intended) obeying her will. Goze zealously reveres the Sakura, willing to do anything that she asks of her without a second thought and always drops at her toes in her presence.

    HISTORY/BACKGROUND:
    If she was ever lost, sit still and sing; somebody will come for her.

    That was the first lesson Bunko Kurokawa learned, and it stuck with her into adulthood.

    Barefooted, clothing torn and ragged, feeling her way through the foliage and path of the forest just off the road, Bunko Kurokawa knew she was lost. But she kept moving, forcing each step until the scary popping and fire noises from behind faded into quiet. It all happened in a blur; the familiar surroundings of being driven in a car, then an abrupt stop with the crunching of metal, ferocious yelling all around, then the popping. She was shoved out by her assigned guard and told to run.

    Only when it was silent did she sit down. She sang; sang a lovely tune, one that the house staff always seemed to love. Surely, someone would come to her.

    But unexpectedly, it was an angel that arrived.

    Bunko immediately silenced herself at the light footsteps, keeping still as the gentle voice drifted through the air and to her ears. She took Bunko's hand, whispering comforts and assurances in her ear. The injured girl loosened her grip... and smiled. It was as though "the heavens took infinite mercy and bestowed a true guardian. One that could protect her, a simple task her parents failed to do"—as stated by the angel.

    Bunko was confused at first. She had no love for her ever busy parents—an overseas Union agent as her mother and a prominent Japanese politician who heavily supported the Union as her father—who barely showed up in her life, but she never once thought them any ill.

    But the angel knew better, and she revealed all the truths to the sheltered girl: that her parents, susceptible to the perfectionist and ableist society of Japan, decided it was best to keep their blind daughter sheltered forever; locked behind friendly facades of house staff while they kept their reputation alive. She told her that her family believed her to be a burden.

    Bunko fell in disbelief. Surely that was not so? She asked for more from the angel, but the divine's time was up. She told the blind girl that destiny held better plans for her; to sing the same song again, should she wish to meet the angel. Then she departed, and the voices of Union personnel came into range.

    According to the news, Ibara attacked the convoy out of rage for the Kurokawa family, targeting their only daughter. The house staff noticed that Bunko became quieter since then, no longer joyously singing as she had before. Naturally, they chalked it up to trauma from the attack. However, the angel's words resonated through and through in Bunko's heart. It was true; her parents only sent a voice mail after she was sent home, expressing worry and sorrow for not being able to stop by because of the same excuse: work.

    A few days later, Bunko opened her bedroom window. She sang...

    And the angel returned, coming from the grounds outside. Bunko barraged her with questions: How was she going to achieve her real fate? What would her parents do and think? The angel hushed the sheltered girl; God had its trials and its plans, and everything would work itself out. The angel repeated her words from last time, reaffirming the fact that nobody in the household truly cared about Bunko, and that her parents weren't her true guardians.

    In fact, she foretold another prophecy; they were in fact coming home... only with plans to get rid of Bunko. To achieve her fate, she left the blind girl with one more message: sing one last time when her parents arrive, and divine Providence will rescue her. With that, the angel left once more.

    Bunko no longer smiled as she stayed in her home. The kind angel could not lie, she believed. Her life was in the hands of fate, and it was up to her to make that fate one of righteousness and goodness. She couldn't disappoint the angel.

    Indeed a few days later, her parents finally returned. Bunko heard them enter the house, weighted and carrying what she could only assume were the means to dispose of her. Angered and on the verge of tears, she opened her bedroom window and sang.

    Rather than the graceful voice coming to Bunko's ears, screeching tires pulled in only a minute later. There were screams; the familiar popping sound; dying groans. Footsteps ran rampant in her own house with brutal efficiency clearing away the undesirables. Bunko, unsure what to think, curled up in a ball, prepared to scream at the first person who found her bedroom.

    Instead, as the door opened, the angel's voice entered. In an instant, Bunko reached a tranquil glee. She scrambled up, running over to the beloved angel and embracing her in a tight hug.

    Everything she said had come true.

    The angel led her through the halls, over the bodies of the house staff, over the corpses of her parents and the paraphernalia they carried (being flowers and presents of all of Bunko's beloved interests from childhood), and out the doors. Around them all were several other people, who Bunko could only assume were on the angel's side. When they were outside, she finally learned the angel's name, overhearing from her allies.

    They called her the Sakura.

    Bunko was brought into Ibara and indoctrinated steadily over the coming weeks. The Sakura stopped by every day, making sure she was healthy and making amiable chat; already more than her family cared to do—again noted out loud by the Sakura. Frequently, she repeated that her family forsook Bunko, and that it was only destiny that they met their downfall. And, to fully signify her freedom, the Sakura put her thumb on Bunko's forehead, giving a new name as a symbol of her new life: "Goze."

    At last, she felt the warmth of another's love. At last, she had purpose. At last, she had hope.

    And she would do anything to protect it all.

    DESCRIPTION:
    If you manage to catch a proper glimpse of Rinka, you'll see he's more fitting to the word "cute" rather than "handsome". He's of slightly below average height and, despite being pretty active on the field as well as scheduled training, has a pretty thin build. He has very long dark hair that flows freely in a somewhat unkept manner and greyish blue eyes, and a single beauty mark right on his left cheekbone. His clothes hide a few scars around his body, gained from Beasts' attacks.

    MISC: He tends to favor long sleeved shirts and track pants for casual wear, and surprisingly also gravitates towards brighter colors such as orange (his favorite) or light green.

    PERSONALITY:
    If Rinka's personality had to be described in one word, it would probably be "crestfallen". Distant, shy and somewhat taciturn, he is someone that spends most of his time by himself, avoiding social interactions by either playing games, reading books, hanging out in the wild or the occasional nap, he also tends to avoid doing things to attract the attention of others, since due to his low self-steem, he deems himself unworthy of admiration, even if hearing praise come his way gives him way more joy than he would like to admit. If you manage to break through the this thick shell, though, lies a pretty sweet and caring guy, albeit capable of being a bit too blunt at times. He cares deeply for those who he manages to connect with emotionally.

    Another side of him, however, can be seen during Beast hunts: A cold yet vicious man who is willing to recklessly jump into danger in order to mercilessly annihilate any beasts in sight. To some this come off as a shock, since Rinka has an incredibly strong love for animals, anywhere from dogs and cats to even the creepiest of crawlies, he's been obsessed with them ever since he was a small child. But in reality, this behaviour is not born from hatred, fear or resentment, In fact, hunting with a deadpan expression on his face is one of the things he's most known for. Instead it comes from an unbreakable resolve to help others, as he not only saves humans in danger, but also believes that killing a beast is akin to an act of mercy, seeing beasts as poor sick creatures that can't be cured.

    HISTORY/BACKGROUND:
    Ever since the day he was born, Rinka's life has always been closely knit tothe Union. Being raised near the vicinity of the Tokyo Branch Headquarters, and even being the son of a long-time veteran Overseer member of Law Enforcement, as well as a human mother that used to work in the Union in the administrative department. Not only that, but the signs of Aura deficiency revealed his identity as a second variant from the very first day, causing his family to raise him with the ideal of joining the organization as well. Rinka himself, being nothing but a but a very small child, never
    thought much of it, and just went along with his parents' ideals.

    It all changed, however, the day his ability activated for the very first time. It was a warm summer afternoon, when a 6 year old Rinka accidentally ended up trapped in his father's study after playing a game of hide and seek with his older brother. He struggled against the thick and rigid oaken door, hitting it repeatedly, but even his enhanced Variant body was unable to open it. That is, until an explosion came out of his left hand. It was loud, it was bright, and it was scary. Where once stood an imposing door was now a hole, a cloud of dust, and wood chunks scattered all across the floor. Rinka just cried on the spot, terrified of his own ability, his survival instincts kicking in telling him that his life had been in grave danger.

    From that day onwards, Rinka started to develop more of a shy and distant personality, easily getting scared by things and avoiding conflict at all times, constantly taking solace in his biggest passion: Animals. Rinka would obsess over them and even own a few pets over his childhood. He had even decided that despite his parents' guidance and desires, he realized that the Union life wasn't for him, instead aiming to become a veterinary when he grew up.

    But life is full of unexpected turns, and 12 year old Rinka was no exception, as he had found himself stuck right in the middle of a wild beast rampage, a monster that had somehow found its way to the heart of the city undetected. Unable to fight back due his reluctance to use his ability ever since discovering it, the boy met true despair as he was about te get killed by the Beast. That is, if it wasn't for the fortunate intervention of the Hunters of the Pest Control division, who managed to eliminate the beast and save Rin.

    After recovering from the trauma, Rin had made up his mind once more, not only people were in danger and he had the ability to save them, but Beasts needed saving as well, they are just poor animals infected with an incurable disease that made them suffer from blind, utter rage, and the only way to save them, was to exterminate them. He would embrace his powers, and listen to the encouragement of his parents, but not as the Law Enforcement Officer his father once convinced him to become all those years back, but as a Hunter that stops beasts, like the ones that saved him that day.     Since he was young, Sage Sanban has always been a peculiar one.     Shiko is generally a pretty fun, kind and light-hearted person, with a firm grasp on reality and an affinity for interacting with people. She greatly enjoys the company of her friends and has little issue keeping a conversation, her mannerisms definitely lean more towards the mild side, prefering to avoid conflict and arguments in general. All in all, she could be considered a pretty "normal" girl for the most part, if only a bit scaredy.

    Shiko was the happy little accident of of Toshio Ishizaki and Elena Stuart, the latter having come to Japan during a student exchange program, and having decided to stay in Japan so the both could raise the girl, they were young, but determined to give the girl a happy life.

    Shiko's life was for the most part, a pretty uneventful one. One of the reasons why she so adamantly states to be just a normal girl, that is, except for the fact that she was born a First Variant just like her mother. This had very little impact in her life, as for the most part, she grew up as a regular japanese citizen, if only her father being a bit on the strict side, being a firm believer of the concept of "tough love".

    Before she knew it, Shiko had graduated from College at the age of 22, and just when she thought that the nightmare that was the college student life was over, it dawned on her that he degree was severely failing to land her on her desired working positions.

    Scared of failure, and even worse, of disappointing her parents, Shiko decided to finally accept the fact that her being a variant made her different from the other normal girls, and took the priviledge to get a stable job in the Union. The job is extremely scary and she'd rather sit in a desk doing paperwork, but the pay is good and her job's safety was solid...As long as her body functionality remained in top shape, that is...

    HISTORY/BACKGROUND:
    Sumiko was more into learning than physical activity. She observed as Kamiko was conditioned to join the Union and overheard her parents arguing whether forcing them into the Union was a good idea. Her mother wanted normal lives for the girls, their father being in the Union meant staying alive. Sumiko's variant didnt mature until 15 when a ball was going towards her, but a robotic claw formed and caught it. Without any prep, Sumiko was pushed to join the Union alongside her twin.

    She passed recruitment, but wasn't combat ready. She became an angel and worked alongside her sister and other specialists. In her free time, Sumiko continued her education and learned many skills that allowed her to help develop new tech for Special Operations. She also learned how her variant works and the limitations/possibilities of it.

    When she learned of her parents' death, the twins travelled back to their childhood home, buried their parents in their family grave, then spent their time off in their old home. When the Director contacted the twins about the open positions, they were initially hesitant, but ultimately accepted for various reasons.

    Early childhood was quiet for Sumiko and her sister. Though technically the older child, their dynamic was reversed. Sumiko always found herself relying on Kamiko for guidance and assistance. And always, her sister would lend a hand unconditionally.

    While Kamiko found excitement outdoors, playing in the grass and with toys, Sumiko found learning to be her forte. Her mother always brought new books for Sumiko to read, and every now and then Sumiko made Kamiko read them as well. When the girls were 6, they were enrolled in music lessons. Sumiko chose to learn the violin. Reluctantly, Kamiko learned the piano.

    When Kamiko's variant had matured, their father became so obsessed with preparing her to become a member of the Union. On certain nights, Sumiko could hear her parents discussing whether this was the right direction for their children. Her mother wanted a normal life for the girls, while her father argued that in this world, you had to fight to survive. Neither Kamiko or Sumiko spoke up against them.

    Sumiko's variant didnt mature until she was 15, 3 years later than Kamiko. While out in the playground in school, a ball went flying towards Sumiko. Instinctively, she raised her arms to cover her face, but felt nothing. It was only when Sumiko opened her eyes that she saw a     giant robotic claw holding the ball in front. Sumiko's eyes slowly followed the arm to see where it came from, realization sinking in when she saw the arm was connected to her back.

    That day, Sumiko was pulled from school, just like her sister. Though she didnt have enough time to prepare, her father pushed her to join the Union alongside Kamiko.

    Sumiko managed to pass the Union's recruitment process, but she wasn't exactly combat ready. As a result, she was placed into the support team for Special Operations, pairing up with her sister. For most of her time, Sumiko stayed behind at Union HQ, guiding Kamiko and other specialists from a command center, fully equipped to assist on-field personnel. On the rare times that Sumiko went out on the field, Kamiko was always close by and handled all the dirty work. While she wasn't involved in operations and had free time, Sumiko continued her education, leaning into skills such as engineering, a little bit of chemistry, and others. She was able to put those skills to use in helping with developing new tools and equipment for the Union's Special Operations.

    At the same time, Sumiko had the time to fully understand her variant. She went through tests that prompted her to complete complex tasks using the machines she could manifest. Doctors also discovered that by presenting blueprints to Sumiko, she could replicate and manifest it into a working machine. As a bonus, Sumiko could internally generate the necessary power source for certain machines, including flight-capable machines such as a jetpack.

    When Sumiko learned of her parents' death, she was heart-broken. She wasn't allowed near her old home due to the ongoing investigation of the beast incident that occurred. Kamiko didn't return home until late in the night, with two urns in her arms. The following day, the girls travelled back home to their family grave, where they buried their parents next to their grandparents.

    The twins spent their time away from the Union back in their childhood home, cleaning it up and repairing any damage from the attack. Though it painfully brought back old memories, Sumiko found closure in spending time back home.

    Some time later, Kamiko told her that the two were being offered the leadership positions of Special Operations. At first, Sumiko was hesitant, and so was her twin. But, after discussion between the two, they both agreed and accepted the position.

    For Kamiko, the Union was their life now. For Sumiko... it was about honoring their parents' memory.

    PERSONALITY: Renji is an affable young man who is rarely seen without a smile on his face. He prefers to maintain a positive attitude, believing that it's a waste of time to sit around brooding. He tries to pass that energy along to everyone he interacts with, often by engaging in some friendly teasing. A consequence of this playful attitude is that he sometimes gets under people's skin, even if he doesn't intend to.

    His easygoing personality makes it easier to build rapport with some people, but there are those who take offense to his approach. He's always composed and never wipes the smirk from his face, giving some the impression that he's mocking them. For the most part, their assumptions are incorrect, and he never means any harm. However, there are times when he'll intentionally be harsher with his seemingly innocent teasing to get a reaction out of someone if he feels that it's warranted. He loves seeing how other people react to his behavior. Even if they respond with anger or violence, it never sours his mood.

    Forever a free spirit, Renji doesn't pay too much attention to what others think of him. He does as he pleases, wanting to live life to the fullest. Because of this, it's difficult to judge how he'll act in certain situations. He'll act purely on a whim, jumping at whatever sounds fun at the time.

    His personality has given some people the impression that he's a fickle fool who can never take anything seriously, but despite how he usually acts, Renji is very dedicated to his work as a member of the Union. When the situation calls for it, he's capable of dropping his usual act and putting on his "work face". He truly wants to help others, and serving as an Overseer is one of the best ways to do so. He hates pain and watching other people suffer, so he wants to make the world a better place. It's a respectable goal, but his methods and motivations are another matter.

    Even though he does truly want to help people, his decision to join the Union was ultimately one he made to help himself. He's tied his own sense of self-worth to how useful he can be to others, and being a keeper of the peace is the only thing he believes can give him the value he's incapable of seeing in himself. That desire goes completely against his normal behavior, and the contradiction is owed to his personality being partially manufactured.

    To escape the label of "Escort killer", he aimed for a reputation that would overshadow his past. It's impossible to be useful to others if they completely reject him, so acting as he does is necessary. The person he is today is a result of his efforts to make everyone less wary around him. He's not fully aware of it, but it also acts as a shield to protect himself from the lingering effects of his upbringing.

    While he usually does a good job of keeping the more worrying parts of his personality hidden, some are still plainly visible. Even though he'd never intentionally put himself in a dangerous situation just for the heck of it, Renji shows a concerning lack of regard for his own well-being. If he's convinced himself that it's the only way to accomplish something, he'll throw himself right into the line of fire. Because of his ability, he'll laugh off any form of pain he endures, using the excuse that he'll heal soon enough. He acknowledges his self-destructive habits, but he can't bring himself to care.

    HISTORY/BACKGROUND: Renji was a mistake, one that caused his mother no end of grief. When his accidental conception was first discovered, his parents had a falling-out. They were already struggling to get by, barely able to avoid the Renouncers Renji's mother needed to survive. With the likelihood of the unborn child also being a Second Variant, the added costs would make it even more difficult to stay afloat. The couple argued for months, never able to come to an agreement on how to handle the situation. When both of them reached a breaking point, Renji's father left for good, cutting himself off from everything.

    Left alone, Renji's mother struggled, unable to count on anyone else for support. Despite initially being excited at the prospect of having a child, she became resentful, slowly starting to agree with her former lover's stance. Her emotional state deteriorated along with everything else in her life, continuing up until the due date.

    After Renji was born, his mother's feelings remained the same. She still expected the worst, unprepared for how life would change. However, there was a small glimmer of hope.

    Contrary to what was expected, Renji did not carry the second variation of the Devil's Wrath. An example of a rare mutation, he was born as a First Variant. He'd be able to live a full life without having to rely on any expensive medications. It was a great relief for his mother, but her concerns weren't focused on the newborn.

    As soon as it was discovered that Renji was a First Variant, his mother stopped viewing him as a son. He wasn't even a person. He was a new chance at life for her. If the two of them formed a Contract, she'd never have to worry about the terrifying effects of her disease. That prospect overtook any and all thoughts she had, and she eagerly awaited the day the life-saving Contract would be made.

    Renji never knew any better. He wasn't aware of how a family was supposed to function, only seeing his mother as a provider. She kept him alive, and he kept her alive. It was a mutualistic relationship that lacked any sort of affection. Instead of a child, he functioned more like a sentient tool or a pet, only kept around to serve a specific purpose. In his mind, everyone else was the same. That was how the world worked.

    While he may not have received any familial love, he was still treated reasonably well. His mother did her best to keep him maintained and functioning. If he broke, that'd be the end for her. Without Renji, she'd perish like so many others.

    The low-income area they called home had an unusually high number of individuals infected with Devil's Wrath. Because the vast majority carried the second variation of the disease, almost all of them relied on Renouncers. If they couldn't afford them, they were forced to settle for Synthetics, but the inferior products only masked the effects of Desynchronization. The struggle to obtain medication and Contracts led to many conflicts, people often taking from those who managed to get their hands on either. Unfortunately, Renji and his mother would eventually be caught in one of these violent altercations.

    It was hard to keep secrets in the shady community. Everyone knew something about someone, especially when they were connected by the same struggles. That's why it was easy to notice when something was amiss, such as the changes Renji's mother displayed. A change in lifestyle, more income, and a decreasing presence in support groups led many to suspect that she'd gotten her hands on a Contract or a steady supply of Renouncers. Those who kept their eyes on her all came to the same conclusion when they took notice of the new boy who was always at her side.

    In an act of desperation, another carrier of Devil's Wrath attacked Renji and his mother in their own home. Despite being a Second Variant, his mother had a very weak ability, and it failed to protect her from the aggressor. Renji witnessed everything, unable to lift a finger.

    The strange man never did Renji any harm. Instead, he approached him with kindness, offering to take his mother's place. He wanted to form a Contract, practically begging the small child to save his life. It was terrible, but Renji accepted without question.

    Renji never had a mother. He had a provider, and now he needed a new one. He needed someone to help him survive. Anyone would do, even a murderer. That line of thinking shielded him from any potential emotional damage, and unfortunately, he'd need it for many years to come.

    Tragedy repeated itself several times. With people becoming increasingly desperate and having their backs to the wall, they came after him. However, he could only make one Contract at a time. It led to extreme violence between Second Variants, weak individuals fighting to live. In some cases, the person he was contracted to was forced to submit and willingly broke their Contract. However, in most cases, the end result was more gruesome.

    On occasion, his nameless Escorts would prevail against those who came to steal the Contract. Usually, they were able to survive because of the difference in ability, but weaker partners made up for their lack of strength by using him as a human shield. Their victories would always lead to a false sense of superiority, encouraging them to lord over others until they were inevitably defeated. The cycle was inescapable.

    Renji accepted everything easily. Like his Escorts, he was desperate to survive, and he needed someone to provide for him. He never developed a deep emotional connection with anyone, which made it easy to move from one Contract to the next. However, he was very quick to become dependent on his partners, always aiming to please. His views on affection became severely twisted, and he offered his Escorts all he had without complaint. Even if he couldn't remember their names, he knew the people who kept him alive could do no wrong.

    There came a day when one of his Escorts developed greater ambitions. Even if they weren't particularly strong, they wanted more out of life than just being able to survive. They caused chaos, wanting to feel what it was like to make others feel weak and helpless. The craving for that feeling made them want to join Ibara, a place that seemed like a perfect fit. Not knowing any better, Renji was fully prepared to join them.

    Before any of his Escort's plans could come to fruition, they were intercepted by members of the Union. Backed up by nothing but delusions of grandeur, they were quickly taken down, leaving the officers to deal with the child that was left behind. To Renji, it was no different from any of the other times he watched his partners fall, and he was fully prepared to form a Contract with one of the uniformed men and women.

    Surprisingly, there was no Contract to be made following his latest Escort's death. After he answered several questions, he was taken into Union custody. That was where he discovered a new side to life.

    Taken under the wing of a veteran member of the Union's Special Operations division, Renji was given a semblance of normalcy. He learned how to see the world through the same lens as everyone else, adapting to life as a normal person. Not all of the damage could be undone, but he made great strides, no longer resembling the human-shaped Renouncer he once was.

    While he was taught how to be a person, Renji was also being prepped to join the Union. From the moment he expressed a desire to be like the people who liberated him from his old life, his caretaker gave him everything he needed to realize that dream. While the older man showed genuine support, there was a sad acknowledgement that serving in the Union was probably the only path left for him.

    At the age of sixteen, he was finally able to join the Union as a full-fledged member. Unfortunately, the transition was not as smooth as he and his trainer hoped. Word traveled fast, and several people were aware of his background from the moment he arrived. Being referred to as a "black widow" or "bluebeard" made it difficult to find people willing to form Contracts, forcing him to operate as a Nure.

    His reputation as an "Escort killer" made work difficult, but Renji never showed any visible discomfort. He focused on doing the work he wanted to do, getting by as best he could. However, there was only so much he could do on his own, and he was eventually assigned partners by the Union.

    Regrettably, his partnerships always ended within the span of a few months. There were a multitude of reasons ranging from transfers to general discomfort, but the end result was always the same. So far, his longest lasting Contract has been with Aelestra Axel, another notorious figure who had difficulty forming a duo. Much to his surprise, she's stuck by his side for almost an entire year now.

Her previous overseers have deemed her stubborn and impulsive, lacking the human decency to interact normally. Aelestra is mean to everyone who interacts with her and gets frustrated very quickly - which usually leads to irrational decisions on her part.

    tldr; Aelestra's father was a shitbag who abused her and her older brother. After her mother passed away, her brother died trying to protect her from her father. She lived like a street rat until she joined the Union where she continued to be a problem child.

    Originally from Norway, the Axel family moved to Tokyo because of a job transfer in education. Aelestra had not been born yet until the family had been settled in their new life for about three years. From her birth, she was thought of as the worst thing to happen to the family — three days after the delivery, her father’s job laid him off. A week later, her mother was in a car accident, paralyzing her from the waist down. Despite the ongoing searches, her father never found another job, and over time the family started to drown in medical bills.

    Under all the stress, her father turned to drinking and gambling — insisting he would turn the last of their money around to stabilize them financially. However, countless losses and beatdowns from the unsavory crowd turned her father into a bitter man. Aelestra was around the age of four or five when her father started to take his anger out on her and her older brother, Atlas. At first, it only happened when provoked — she and Atlas were merely kids, playing around and getting into trouble. A broken vase. Not doing chores. Any little inconvenience set him off.

    The actions worsened when he could no longer afford renouncers. With the four of them being second variants, the cost added up quickly and they had no choice but to look for alternatives. With their impoverished lifestyle, the first variants in their area only offered paid contracts and it was only to the highest bidder. Pseudo-Renouncers were their cheapest option but even then the cost was a heavy burden to them.

    Rather than use the tax write-offs from his children to help his family back on their feet, her father continued to wallow in his own anger and failure. Meals lacked any substantial nutrients and any inconvenience resulted in physical abuse. On some occasions, her father would withhold the Pseudo-Renouncers, only providing them to his family on the very last day necessary to survive. His excuse was to ration what little they had left. This became a common recurrence when Aelestra and Atlas manifested their variant abilities to prevent any retaliation.

    Both Aelestra and Atlas learned quickly that they could no longer rely on their parents, resorting to stealing and other petty crimes just to make do. Their only reason for returning home was for the roof over their head and their mother.

    Aelestra was around the age of fourteen when her mother fell ill. The disease was unknown as even a simple trip to the doctor was a heavy blow. There was a short period of time when the three of them acted like a family for once to provide a somewhat comfortable life for their mother. On her deathbed, Aelestra’s mother admitted that Aelestra was her biggest regret — that their happy life was taken away from them the moment she was born. Her father felt the same way and sought to correct this out of devastation for his wife’s death.

    Her father attempted to kill her, wanting to “rid the curse that destroyed his family.” His attempts were thwarted though when Atlas intervened, resulting in her father killing her brother instead. In the heat of the moment, Aelestra escaped with only the image of her dead brother burned in her memory. For the next two years, she killed and stole to keep herself alive, fending for herself until she was old enough to join the Union.

    She didn’t want to join the Union but the memory of her brother forced her to. Atlas was always the one to protect her, promising her that when he joined the Union, he would provide a better life for the two of them while helping others in need. Aelestra didn’t care about anyone, she didn’t want to help anyone. No one helped her and her brother, so why should she? Regardless, the remnants of his goodwill pushed her forward to join at the age of sixteen.

    Despite adopting a new lifestyle, she still carried her past trauma with her, making her a difficult escort to form a contract with. Her anger and mistrust of everyone around her resulted in several contract breaks. She was put on probation for quite a while after a physical altercation with her previous overseer — which also resulted in a contract break. It wasn’t until early 2036 did they finally take her off nine-month probation and assigned her to her current partner.

    PERSONALITY: The smartest dumbass you will ever know. Hikari is the kind of person that could get DOOM running on a Lego set and then get sad because she can’t beat it. There's a lot of actual intelligence, it just gets buried beneath "where brain" moments where she's thinking about something else. If she actually focuses on something, especially if it's something important, she is going to get it done. She’s a step away from being a mad scientist, ready to give theories that she would call intriguing and that other people would call insane with all the ease of someone making a grocery list.

    Every aspect of her personality is an 11. She’s the classic upbeat and energetic type, the kind of person who starts conversations with other people. Hikari can and will do the extrovert thing where they run at someone and adopt them as a friend (see Akiyama, Rinka.) She enjoys helping others, and will try and do as much as she can if someone asks. Sometimes she'll try even if they don't ask. There might be some selfishness there. Her confidence in herself and her creations borders arrogance, but it's difficult to actually insult her all that much or get her angry. When it does happen however, it's even harder to get her back down. If her enhancement activates, don't bother.

    Normally, adrenaline makes people excited, thrilled, jittery. Hikari goes in the opposite direction. She focuses, calms down. The liveliness is still there, just muted. Somehow, she gets more self assured. And there's a desire to fight. To slay every last beast that dares to exist. Killing these things means she's protecting other people. That's good. Yeah, it's for the sake of others...

    • born ainslie mirabella quinn, they were raised by their biological mother and father and had a pretty comfortable life for a couple of years until they were orphaned at age 4 because his parents died in a car accident. their car had gotten t-boned by a gasoline tanker as they were driving through an intersection. both of her parents were terribly injured, the only reason augie lived was due to their father shielding them from the impact. augie barely managed to get out of the car before the gasoline tanker exploded, killing augie's parents and injuring the civilians that had been trying to help, as well as augie.
    • during this one year alone, augie was moved around to 8 different foster homes, each one worse than the last. eventually, they landed in a home without any other children and were fostered by a lovely couple named kumiko and sana.
    • when augie turned 5 they were officially adopted by the same couple that had been fostering them. augie was raised by them until they sold her into human trafficking a year later.
    • from ages 6 to 13 augie endured horrific torture, but through it all, they did their best not to lose hope that they would one day be free.
    • they moved around a lot for those seven years, never in the same place for too long; they were sold and bought hundreds of times. augie wasn't with the same person for longer than a week or two, at least not until she was 11, and was bought by one of the many well-known politicians at the time. he held onto her for almost 2 years until eventually, he got bored of them and sold them off once again.
    • augie was passed around three more times before they were sold to ibara. they ended up becoming a member and were taken in and cared for by a woman named tamako.

    PERSONALITY:
    the people who knew lilith as a child would say she was a decent kid. unfortunately, all of those people are dead. now, she is more often described as a ruthless sociopath with an affinity for blackmailing and manipulating people; she is a woman no one wants to cross. they either think she's crazy or they know what a bitch she is and would rather not get tangled up in her web.

    lilith is spiteful, sarcastic, and almost always angry even if she doesn't necessarily show it. if she happens to smile (a genuine smile, not one of those condescending or smug ones) or is in a good mood, then it's either a miracle or the world is about to end. she's a difficult person to get along with due to her toxicity and nasty personality, but she could be nice; she simply chooses not to. she has never been given any reason to be nice.

    lilith is incredibly selfish, however, and she hates getting advice or being scolded by others because she assumes that means they think she did something wrong. to be fair, she probably did do something wrong but lilith would never admit that. she was raised in a toxic household which played a large role molding her into the woman she is today, but she embraced this part of her family and everything that happened to her.

    even though she has such a toxic personality, lilith isn't all that bad. she's actually quite lonely but would never in a million years admit that. that doesn't mean she'll try to become a better person so she can befriend others, though. she's still a bitch and isn't someone you want to cross paths with. lilith can be nice sometimes if she really tries, but that's a rare occurrence and only if she is very fond of you [which is also incredibly rare].

    she's very charming and flirtatious when she wants something, she appears to be a very sociable girl and someone who is a bit of a know-it-all. she's classy and has top-notch manners, she knows how to follow the rules but is also incredibly adept at finding loopholes and ways around them. this is the mask she wears to keep people, mainly the public, from discovering more sinister aspects of her personality.

    lilith is not a good person, but i want her to be redeemable at some point, and using pieces from both of these helps with that.
    truthfully, this one is more accurate to how lilith was as a kid. i am thinking this is how her personality started and then morphed more into the other one as she got older.
    lilith's outward appearance and personality are far different from who she actually is. lilith appears to be a very polite, bright, well-behaved girl. she can be a know-it-all and a rule follower. at a glance, she's often seen as 'perfect' or a 'model character'. at least, that's until you see the more sinister side of her. not often do people see how she truly acts, but that's simply because she hides it extremely well; having a pretty face helps fool others into believing how much of a saint she is. as of now, and since she was a child, no one has ever actually seen what she is truly like because of how well she leads people on. in truth, lilith is manipulative and doesn't hesitate to lie for her own personal gain. she's the definition of a troublemaker even though she seems to be such an obedient, well-behaved young woman, and honestly, that couldn't be farther from the truth. if she likes you then you have a loyal friend on your side and someone you can trust with your life. if you get on lilith's bad side then you are royally fucked, and that's putting it in the nicest way possible. once you have gotten on her bad side changing her opinion about you is quite a task and she likely won't budge unless given a reason she deems valid.

    when not around others lilith tends to be quite stoic, showing little to no emotion and maintaining a straight face, most, if not all the time unless she's trying to keep up appearances. she's the type that doesn't charge unless provoked but believes that expressing emotion is a sign of weakness and heavily lacks empathy. she's a strong girl, sarcastic and quite rude. despite the front she puts up, her true personality sometimes sneaks out and can come as a surprise to most. being in a toxic household for so long definitely played a part and she picked up on how her parents acted towards her and her siblings. as a child she had a lot of trouble holding her tongue, often talking back to her parents and others which resulted in severe punishments.

    even though she's armed with a polite and kind exterior, after a while, and if she trusts you enough her act might falter. unless you're someone she has come to trust, she probably doesn't care about you. the only way to really get to know her would be to knock down the barriers that she has put up to keep people at a distance, the barriers that keep others from finding out about the sinister, toxic traits she harbors.
    interestingly enough, a part of her genuinely wants to learn to be empathetic, or at least try to be. by that, lilith means she genuinely wants to feel empathy, not just fake it. she would never admit that to anyone, though, and will continue to act like she has no interest in bettering herself as a person.

    HISTORY/BACKGROUND: • natsumi was the second youngest of six siblings. born into an incredibly powerful and wealthy family, the kinoshita's made sure to have as many kids as they could so at least one would inherit everything if the others died.
    • her parents were the founders and CEOs of a multi-billion dollar corporation. they were cruel and cold, not caring for anything except their business, money, and making sure their children were prepared to inherit the business if anything ever happened to them.
    • natsumi's childhood was training, learning about the company, schooling, and the like- there was very little time for recreational activities or fun. she never really had the chance to just... be a kid.
    • at age 18, natsumi's entire family died in a mysterious accident, save for her favourite aunt, sawako, and uncle, jun. due to this unfortunate event, natsumi inherited the company and she quickly brought sawako and jun on to help run the company.
    • a year later, for reasons unknown, kinoshita natsumi became lilith knightingale and joined the union branch in japan. she still has strong connections with her aunt and uncle and cares about them dearly. she goes to great lengths to protect them. (they also help take care of all of her dogs which she is always very grateful for). her history remains unknown to anyone she doesn't choose to tell; no one knows lilith knightingale is kinoshita natsumi, and lilith is determined to keep it that way.

    DESCRIPTION: Andri is a tall, dark-skinned man with long, curly hair twisted into locks to keep the wild mane under control. experience not only in their job and hobbies but a past on a farm have left Andri with well-built yet not mobility restricting muscle, perfect for the intensive work they often do. despite their more laidback demeanor, their steel grey eyes always look focused entirely on whatever they lay their eyes upon.

    PERSONALITY: Despite their division, Andri is quite laidback in nature. He'll do his work to be sure, but it's not uncommon to see them complain about paperwork or bemoan having to stay overtime. He enjoys the company of any and all around him, and like to smile and joke without being a bother, but will disrupt their mojo if he sees them overworking themselves.

    • In his eyes, keeping a healthy work/life balance and social life is imperative. If he can help it, he'd be off the moment his shift ends and not a second later.

    HISTORY/BACKGROUND: Looking at Andri and their general impression, one probably wouldn't guess that he was born and raised in the countryside. His father was a retired Union agent, his mother a doctor; both took to open fields and farmland rather than the hustle and bustle of the city. Growing up, Andri could agree for the most part; Even as a child, he loved taking care of the animals they kept, brushing horses and feeding cows without any complaint all day. He loved being out and about, tending to wheat fields and making sure wild animals didn't get too greedy. They lived in a small town where everyone knew everyone, and everyone helped everyone despite the overall self-reliance of the people there. As Andri got older, he figured that that he'd spend his life there, knowing the same people and doing the same things forever. And honestly? he was kind of fine with it. There weren't any problems, he had a lot of freedom, and life was good.

    Who would have thought that his father would lose their life to a disease he'd been fighting just before Andri entered high school. The funeral was bittersweet, and his mother sold the ranch and caught a flight back home to Japan shortly after to be with family. "Couldn't bear to look at the place." they often mourned. He went with obviously, and for the first time ever not only left his hometown, but his home country for a big city across the world. Learning the language wasn't hard; his mother had taught him all his life. But what was hard was adjusting to nearly everything being different and new. He got the hang of it though, Graduating high school and even doing a few years in medical school. But somewhere along the line Andri lost himself, growing frustrated with the idea of becoming a doctor and eventually dropping out alltoghether. It felt too...wrong. How? He doesn't know. But it did. Maybe it was the boredom of the potential career? Too much sitting behind a desk? Or maybe something else?

    Just like his father, he eventually found himself at the steps of Union HQ at the age of 22, but likely for different reasons. Despite his brief tenure, Andri found this profession so much better than being a doctor; he quickly shot up from being an recruit and landed themselves into the Special Operations Division, and couldn't be happier. Well, happy outside of the paperwork.

She joined the Union at age 16, primarily operating in the Specialist Operations, though also helping out in the beast extermination division when there was nothing to do.

    PERSONALITY: Val is, despite what one may assume, a complicated person. On the surface, he is a happy go lucky person who always wears a smile. He seems confident and impulsive, acting without a second thought. That is true, somewhat, but what one might not expect is that he is a phenomenal actor. Val hides his true feelings behind the smile - it's rare for him to genuinely express himself unless one is very close to him. He has boundless energy, enough that his sleepless nights don't bother him for a day or two, but it eventually does take a toll on him.

    He is intelligent in the way that he's book smart and perceptive, able to spot things others may not, but he lacks street smarts, often making unwise decisions. He feels guilty about these when other people get caught up with them, but he usually brushes it off to keep up his façade.     Selena was 20 and Val was 18 when it happened - though Val doesn't know what 'it' truly was. Rather, he simply woke up to an empty house, seemingly ravaged in a struggle. He looked all around, but there was no sign of anyone around, only a handful of bloodstains in various rooms. Surprisingly, his room was safe from the destruction, something Val still feels conflicted about to this day. Begrudgingly, he picked himself and continued forward, hiding his true feelings behind a mask of happiness.

    His reason for joining the Union is for being apart of something, though he will lie and say it is his sole reason, when it isn't. The pursuit of the truth of that night and delivering justice is also a driving force, though his hopes are low nowadays. It's been years, but a part of him still wants to find and deliver justice, not just for himself and his family, but for others who cannot do it for themselves.

    HISTORY/BACKGROUND:
    Ryan grew up fairly unabused by the world for someone with so much anxiety about it. He was born and raised on Kikaijima, one of the Satsunan Islands, and dealt with the usual amount of bullying you'd expect for a kid that looks like a zombie and falls apart when shoved. Lots of games of 'got your nose' but nothing too mean-spirited. His parents had powers that were helpful to their small farm town and instilled the idea of using your life for the benefit of the community. Ryan's powers suck and do practically nothing for anyone, so he channeled his efforts into strengthening his mind.

    His studies took him to the mainland, where he worked really, really hard, all the way up to a doctorate in biotechnology. He seemed happy working as a biotechnologist, up until he abruptly switched career paths and became a high school science teacher, putting his doctorate to good use getting bullied by teenagers. During all this he was happily (long-distance) married and happily (long-distance) divorced.

    Then, one day, he witnessed a beast attack. One that maybe could have been prevented with just a little understanding. And so, he found new purpose in the Union where he's been researching beast biology for the past five years while frequenting high schools as a suffering substitute teacher.

    It also wasn't unknown for the authoritative government, in exchange for these companies working on their land, to reclaim these Variants to use them in their efforts to push back against rebel resistance. The rebels didn't have any qualms recruiting kids, either.

    In the end, it didn't matter which faction Bz fought for, or which members of what she killed. She was a weapon. Weapons change hands.

    She got out. Half a year ago. More or less legally, with an old woman she found herself protecting. They live in an apartment underneath Dr. Ryan Furukawa. And a couple months ago, Bz started to think that Ibara's got the right idea.

    PERSONALITY: Bradley doesn't take all that much seriously. And on the off-chance they do, they try their best to mask it with as many jokes as they can. A lot of the times, in terms of comedy, they're their own biggest fan. They often laugh at their own jokes and quips, even if no one else does. Giggles are also a nervous reaction they have picked up as they've grown up.

    Interestingly enough, they have a strong desire to avoid conflict with their peers while also getting the last word. They're quite fond of deflecting questions they do not feel like answering by giving non-answers or irrelevant answers, as well as "misinterpreting" offensive comments others make in a way that seems benign. This may make them seem like a ditz or airhead, but they would rather that than get into conflict. That being said, if the other person remains on the offensive, their words may start to take on insulting insinuations while having plausible deniability. Giggles are quite frequent between statements like these.

    They are well-aware of the that their antics frequently annoy those around them. Usually, they're perfectly fine with this, depending on what it is, as in most cases they feel they are just being their authentic selves. In certain cases though, they do respectfully tone it down and respect boundaries. One may expect them to be the type to not pull their weight in a group, but that is surprisingly false. Just don't expect them to do more than the bare minimum.

    HISTORY/BACKGROUND: Bradley, while the child of English parents, was born and grew up in France. Her mother and father were both involved in the Union, and from an early age, they made it known that they expected her to follow in their footsteps. There was only one issue: Bradly had absolutely no interest in their goals for her. She instead took an interest in fashion, cosmetics, the performing arts, and social media. As she grew up, her goal was to become an influencer.

    To their credit, they didn't disregard this goal. They even went so far as to support her. They bought her all the filming equipment necessary and, as she desired, enrolled her in dance class and vocal lessons. All the while, they also pushed her into combat courses, classes to hone one's variant, and other such things which would make her a perfect new recruit for the Union. Bradley... didn't quite take them seriously, though, just as she didn't quite take the training seriously after applying, either. Her parents, being upstanding Union members, were able to win her a second opportunity at the French branch, but the story was the same here. Unfortunately, after this attempt, she wasn't able to reapply.

    Her parents hadn't given up just yet, though. They managed to use their influence to get her a chance at the Japanese branch. It wasn't a decision she was too fond of, as it involved uprooting her current life in France to move to another country, but she didn't have much of a choice. Her social media career hadn't kicked off just yet, and she hadn't been able to support herself due to primarily focusing on that. There was also one more stipulation from her parents this time: she had to actually become a part of the Japanese Union branch, otherwise they would stop supporting her.

    Without having much of a choice, she agreed to their terms. After moving to Japan, this time, she made sure she got into the Union. After which, Bradley found herself placed in Law Enforcement. She still continued her influencer endeavors. Thankfully, the rules for social media posts in said department were relatively lax. As she had hoped and striked for, she ended up finally making it big! The only issue was it was due to her Law Enforcement-related content. She has tried to diversify after, but whether it was because of the algorithm or because Law Enforcement content was just that hot (or, as unthinkable as it was to her, perhaps she just wasn't as talented with non-Law Enforcement-related content), it didn't quite work out. So, begrudgingly, she remains. Funny how life works like that.

    PERSONALITY: A woman known for her teasing and rather seductive behavior, Yumeko is a playful woman around her associates. She can often be seen teasing and in some instances flirting with those she's clearly fond of. If you have the misfortune of not being in her favor, Yumeko will come off as extremely condescending and patronizing towards you, often sarcastically mocking individuals she dislikes. If she's overall neutral with you, it's mostly teasing behaviors. Yumeko is also an extraordinarily petty and spiteful person if you do manage to incur her wrath, though this is surprisingly difficult to do. She is known for often referring to her associates in Ibara with terms of endearment such as "Dear", "Darling", and "Sweetheart" among others. However, if she likes you and you politely ask her to not refer to you as that, she will respect it.     HISTORY/BACKGROUND: The Kurohana family is well known for their production of musical theatre around japan, and are known for their rather large donations to schools for the arts, hospitals, and parks. On the surface, the family is presented to have nothing but goodwill for those of Japan. However, the family does have a significant amount of skeletons in their closet. The Matriarch, Kurohana Kana, had an affair with a Variant man, which, while normal in the household (infidelity was often a common occurrence between the Matriarch and Patriarch of the family), had unfortunately conceived a child, and with the media finding out and presuming it to be her husband, Kana was required to keep the child to keep their reputation favorable. Yumeko was born, and spoiled beyond belief, at least, as the public knew of her. Behind closed doors, Kana and her Husband, Kirito, often ignored her existence. To the degree that if she had been a second variant, the child would have died off. Eager to please and gain positive attention, Yumeko used her enhancement to become a prodigy in the eyes of the public. She was known and considered a star child. However, as she got older, family affairs worsened. Kirito began drinking, and often made inappropriate advances towards his step-daughter in these moments, while Kana began to loathe her daughter for her popularity in media and beauty. The couple often had fights behind closed doors, but often blamed their marital problems on Yumeko, as she was a child born of an affair.
    Yumeko eventually realized her parents' loathing or even misinterpreted "affections" could not be made into anything genuine, and began to loathe them in turn. She often snuck out, rebelling against her parents, even while keeping up a persona for the media. Eventually, she met a woman, a 2nd Variant, who wooed her and made her feel better about herself. At least at first. Until her partner started expecting monetary favors and behaviors from Yumeko that she didn't usually participate in. Such as drugs. It ended suddenly, after almost a year of this event, when her girlfriend had allowed Yumeko, under the influence, to be taken advantage of. Yumeko had a moment of clarity and ended up killing her now ex. Simply due to her having intimate knowledge of Yumeko's home life could ruin things. Of course, with the ex's friends being considered criminals, there was no one with enough prestige or power to associate Yumeko with the murder. A year later, things would change, when Kana attempted to kill her daughter in her sleep, already setting the house up to look like a break-in. Yumeko survived the attempt, though there was some damage done to her left eye. And in return, killed her mother and father, quite tired of both of their existence. She called the police and hit, using the charade that her mother had set up to her advantage, pretending that the home was broken into during the night and that Kana and Kirito were killed. She grieved for the public, but took up the Kurohana family mantle, and continued the family business, as she does quite enjoy what her family did, even if her parents did it for fame and attention. Eventually, in the following two years, she would be recruited into Ibara, and rose the ranks to White Rose, though now she is applying for Peony.

    TLDR SPARK NOTES
    - Yumeko is the child of an affair and was believed to actual couple's child
    - Used her enhancement to become a prodigy and well known in Japan, all to gain her parents' attention
    - Eventually realized that she'd never received it, and began to rebel when she was 18
    - Met a 2nd Variant woman named Akira, who pretended to love her, but turned out to be using her for money, and influencing awful behaviors while making Yumeko believe Akira would leave her if she didn't
    - Akira allowed Yumeko to get taken advantage of when she was under the influence of drugs, and Yumeko killed her in retaliation to keep her secrets from being revealed
    - a year later, Yumeko killed her parents in self-defense, and the media only knows it as a break in - murder
    - Yumeko took up the Kurohana business and continued it, enjoying it compared to her parents who merely did it for fame and reputation
    - 2 years later, Yumeko was approached and recruited into Ibara, and rose the ranks, now pursuing the rank of Peony
