The end of the world came as the human world and the demon world fused with each other, killing many humans and many demons. Of the surviving humans, most of the surviving demons killed them and the humans who haven't been killed have gone insane and will likely die soon. The most unlucky are those who coincidentally stood where demons stood when the worlds converged. Most died as they turned into a malformed mass of flesh that if not dead, they died soon. Others became human-demon hybrids. They usually retained most of their humanity while the demon mind mostly died, however they still inherited part of the demon's personality. Additionally, physically they grew bigger and stronger. The biggest problem they have is that they are seemingly stuck in this nightmare. The twisted laws of nature in this reality wont let them die and move on to an afterlife. Some of them believe they should conquer this world and make it liveable again, while others feel they have been unjustly cursed and swear vengeance on the heavens. Now they need to find the right course of action and eventually find out who or what made this happen.
The setting: An apocalyptic where buildings from both sides are melded together, fissures mark the ground either spewing lava or a green ethereal glow and even the sky is messed up with parts of it featuring a purple haze. In the distance is a decrepit shadow of a city. Corpses and bones of humans, demons and other creatures are found everywhere. Some regions are less effected, where it is possible that entire forests and tundras survive, however most of the world lies in ruins.
Tech: The world before the calamity was in an era of discover, where while swords and other melee weapons were common, arcane rifles and pistols existed. Rudimentary mana powered vehicles also existed. A lot of basic technologies were powered by magic. Comparable with early to mid 1800s Earth tech, just using mana instead.
