the history of witchcraft can be traced back to centuries ago. witchcraft is derived from the word 'wicca' which means 'the wise one'. originally, witchcraft was seen as a magical phenomenon to those who had no other deeper understanding. such as a phenomenon there has been no known reason as to why witchcraft exists or why the majority who can wield it are females which then became witches.

in the beginning, witchcraft was seen as a gift from god. witches were seen as a sign of good luck and were known to give blessings of prosperity and protection. witches actively took part in their communities and soon became the center of worship.

however, somewhere in history, witches' influence took a sharp dive. whether if it's their numbers or their powers, as time had passed they gradually dwindled. which marked the end of their time in the limelight. they couldn't solve all of society's problems as they used to. wars. famine. poverty. disease. they became helpless to all of them.

with countless failures, people had begun to lose trust and faith for witches. people sought salvation elsewhere. which led to a rise of new religions and doctrines. then in 1000 AD various religions and rulers have taken a negative stance on witchcraft spreading the word that witches have made a deal with the devil hence the crux of all the chaos and disease which have spread rampantly at the time.

it was the beginning of a massacre. countless of witches and those who were thought to be witches were put on the stake and killed in an alarming number. those who managed to survive either gave up their gift entirely in order to survive in their communities, keeping their powers a secret. or, they ran away to secluded areas and continued the practice in hiding.

with the passing of time and with little to no activity by witches in public the number of witch hunts decreased till people simply forgot about them, leaving witches and witchcraft simply as an inkling of imagination and fantasy.

while the general population of today thinks witches are only a myth witches themselves have gained enough confidence to come out of hiding and blend with the normal population. some have used their powers in order to establish themselves in this new era and promote a new way of life for young witches.

the rate of a witch being born is still rare, one in a million. and a majority face death without ever knowing their true capabilities. in order to increase the survival of young witches and impart knowledge, many witches of past generations have done their best to gather them.

by the age of fifteen, all young witches in the area would be gathered and will partake in a one-year training off the grid. in that one year, it is expected they will learn to control their powers and strengthen their bonds in order to rely on each other in the future.

hereditary witch*

a witch born into a family which practices witchcraft. typically has more stronger powers than other witches. usually she already has a bit of training and decent control and knowledge of her powers.

eclectic witch*

typically witches who have no relation witchcraft. their powers usually come with a weird quirk or two and cannot be typically taught by normal means.

secular witch*

witches who access their powers through the study and variety of objects and knowledge.

the devouring*

an illness which is common in young witches. it mostly starts as a fever but more severe cases can leave one bed ridden and sometimes death. caused by the built up mana within the body caused by the inability to properly expel mana with use of powers.

talent*

in the beginning witches were proficient in a wide spectrum of magic. however their powers have dwindled. while most witches can practice and study other types of magics they'll most likely will never reach to a usable level aside from their area of specialty.

the one year training off the grid. with the most of them meeting each other for the first time. the main purpose of this training camp is for the girls to form deep bonds with each other as it is expected that they would be each other's support for years to come.

during this one year the girls will be staying at a private property close to the countryside of busan. with a few mentors coming and going as they'd like. usually, they would give the girls lectures and assignments to learn how to control, practice, and understand their powers. questions which have plagued most of the young witches will most likely be answered.

the girls are generally free to do anything aside from attending lectures and completing assignments. aside from not leaving the property without permission, the girls are still able to communicate with the outside world with their phones, shop online, participate in hobbies, for two days every month, they are allowed to play in the neighboring small town. on occasion, there would also be times their mentors will take them out.
