Witch Apprentice: Arc 1: The Witch Staffs
It’s been two months since you became the apprentice of an infamous and powerful witch, despite society’s changes in magical laws they became attached to the old ways of magic and refused to join a coven as it would mean to forfeit their individuality, among other things. Although you are nowhere near to the level of your mentor, you are capable of casting a variety of spells as any decent witch could do.
One day you wake up, ready for your next lesson when you notice that no one’s home. There’s no trace of your mentor anywhere and their magical staff is on the floor. As you were to pick it up, it levitated itself to your hand and you felt a connection like nothing else before. That was a terrible sign as it meant that somehow your mentor lost their connection with their own magical staff and now you had claimed it as yours.
You started panicking when you heard a knock in your door, you stroke the staff firmly and bravely opened the door to face whoever was visiting your master’s house. You recognized the person as another apprentice from another rebellious witch… and they were also carrying their master’s staff. Dread filled your very soul as you feared that not only your master but maybe all masters have disappeared. What the hell happened last night?
Biology
The source of magic of every witch is located in their heart, specifically a sack of magical vile attached to their heart that saps magical energy from the ambient and storages it for future use. Depleting all the magical energy within their sack will exhaust them to the point of fainting, only while resting their magical energy will be restored. All witches must be extremely careful to maintain a fair amount of magic inside them to avoid falling unconscious in the middle of a battle.
Casting
In order to cast magic a witch must draw with their index finger the outline of a magical circle in the air, their intent will fill the inside of the circle to properly get the desired result. The size of the circle dictates the potency of the spell and the amount of magical energy it draws from the witch. Small circles draw 5 MP, Medium Circles draw 10 MP, Big circles draw 15 MP and Staff-Size Circles draw 20 MP.
Witches aren’t even aware of the inside of the magical circles they draw anymore since it has become a subconscious habit after generations of magical use so they can’t actually see the sigils inside of a magical circle, only the outline. Although Witches are perfectly capable of performing magic without any type of paraphernalia, Magical Staffs are highly valuable in today’s world.
Magical Staffs
Magical Staffs are relics of past times when witches learned from a mentor that then passed on their knowledge and wisdom directly to one student rather than today’s system where witches attend to magic schools together and attend classes as a large group where a teacher imparts their knowledge about magic to them, regularly testing said knowledge with exams and pop quizzes. Some witches refuse to give in to this new and limiting way of teaching and have continued to live on the tradition of taking only one apprentice to be their successor.
Every staff has power embedded into them, but before witches can acquire one, they must learn to cast spells on their own. Witches are awarded their staff as part of their education. A witch can summon their staff by command, or conjure it from thin air when needed. There’s only one of each and they all have a unique theme around a specific type of animal as shown by their headpieces. The theme around the staff is also applied to the witch as they can only have familiars belonging to the same species and they have exclusive spells related to the animal.
The headpieces of witch staffs are sentient creatures called Palismans, and serve as the symbiotic half of the staff. A palisman is a magical totem that sits atop a witch's staff and serves as their familiar. A palisman is, by all rights, an object rather than a living creature. Despite this, a palisman is an independent, sapient entity capable of having consciousness and detaching itself from the staff and acting on its own, though still subservient to the witch who owns their staff. Any given palisman connects to their staff via a unique interlock that mates it to only their own staff and no other.
While a witch and their palisman are joined by a relationship of affection and mutual respect, the palisman will leave if the relationship is harmful to them. A witch can also abandon their palisman if the staff suffers irreparable damage or loss. When a palisman does not belong to any witch, it seeks the witch’s apprentice if there’s one but if not they’ll stay petrified as any other object would until a witch claims it.

5) Time related magic and Mind controlling are out of limits, it will only be used by some NPCs and for plot purposes only but not player will have access to them.
6) I only ask for a minimum of 1 detailed paragraph and post at least 4 times a week (More is always encouraged)

Hello! This idea came to me after watching The Owl House We will be a group of Witch Apprentices that have lost their masters and now have to uncover the secrets behind their disappearances, while escaping from magical authorities and trying to keep up your studies. We will have to fight and travel dimensions during our adventure so be prepared for all kind of magical stuff (good and bad).
