Other Why did you name your pet(s) that? : )

FudgieBudgie

Bust :(
<p>

What is your pet (or pets') name? Tell me what they are named after, or maybe named for doing? Post pictures too, I'd love to see them if you can!

My dog is named Lexi. It means 'defender of man' (or something similar to that) and it suits since I got her during a dark period of my life in which a friend was very much needed. My cat has a much less interesting story, we got her from a shelter with the name Angelina. One of my favourite actors (when I was 13 or so) was Angelina Jolie, so I kept the name. I also like the fact it's not a typical pet name.

I have a picture of my dog; in the first half she is 8 weeks old, second half she is about 6 months. She's 8 months now and still growing... think she's going to be a horse when she's fully grown!

Edit: Added another picture. Excuse the 'aw', it's from my Snapchat story.<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_05/IMG_0134.JPG.79ce01c4de074ab1065d83b0a7e12fcf.JPG" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="123041" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_05/IMG_0134.JPG.79ce01c4de074ab1065d83b0a7e12fcf.JPG" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p><p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_05/IMG_0480.JPG.ab9a05a9ecf4f9d4724d4b3e6bb913f5.JPG" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="123045" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_05/IMG_0480.JPG.ab9a05a9ecf4f9d4724d4b3e6bb913f5.JPG" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

What lovely names, and what a lovely pup! I also got both of my kitties when I really needed some help and they help me feel sane to this day: ) What kind of pup is that? Looks like a shepherd with brindle color.

She's actually a Rottweiler cross. Her mother is full Rottweiler and her father is Rottweiler cross. The family we got her from didn't know what the father was crossed with, so it will forever be a mystery. Lexi is a massive help with my mental health - dogs (and pets in general actually) do have a good effect on health. :)

My dog's name is Charlie. I named him after Charlie Kelly from "It's Always Sunny..."

When he barks, he sounds so much like when the character shouts at the gang.

Also he's named after Charlie Chaplin because he has a very little black patch under his nose and, well we know what that looks like. He's a rescue, thus a tramp. It fits.

My cat's name is Smokey. He was named that when we got him, as he is grey. My aunt tried to give him the name Sidney, but it never caught on. I also named her two cats when I was little. I was obsessed with the movie Aladdin and I have them the names Aladdin and Jasmine (despite the fact they were both boys), but we called them Al and Jas.

Fuckface the Guinea Pig.

Ah, Fuckface you lovable twat.

Named him because he may just be the most needy, fat, and stupid guinea pig the planet has to offer.

And he pissed on the table once.

We will never let you leave us Fuckface! No matter how many times you try to commit suicide by jumping off the Kitchen counter!

I have a boxer named Jip because i had seen a book in the library at my school titled "A Boy Called Jip" (or something along those lines; i never read it so i wouldn't know ahaha). I figured "well hey, if a boy can be called Jip, so can a dog!" My thought processes weren't very complicated as a 6th grader.

So, my horse's show name is "Royal Mile." She got her name from the street the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, a street I lived on when in college:

Royal Mile, AKA: Rayna

My dogs name is Alfie, He is 8 Months and I named him after Alfie from Bad Education because I love that show and my Dogs a little shite :D

Scotland! Yay! ??

my cat, Blaze, was named so for the blazing trail he made in our house and the little blaze of white on his chest.

Ladybug was originally lady, for how dainty and delicate. the bug was added cuz I think ladybug's are cute.

Melissa is named for whatever reason, she's a giant black lab/rotty mix.

tillie was named for our first dog, atilla the hun

Pudge was named cuz she was a fat puppy and I made a joke and mom loved it xD

Murphy was named after a character in a book cuz he had the same attitude(being a pscyho jerk)

Bastion was named by his previous owner

violet was named cuz we thought he was a girl cat and it's a pretty name xD

Montgomery Scott is obvious. Star Trek The Original Series fo lyfe, yo.

My first cat, Penelope was a black and white cat who looked like a skunk, yet her white stripe down her back was actually down her nose. If she was a boy, her name would've been Peppi Le Pu, from Looney Toons.

My second cat, Patches, was a calico tortious shell. She had all different patches of color on her, hence the name.

The third and final cat is Lady. Being apart of the Siamese family, she's gorgeous and dainty. My grandmother named her for some reason and she simply grew accustomed to that that particular name.

Alaska is a husky and named that because it's my favorite state and she likes cold weather. My German Shepherd used to be my dad's dog and he's an Xmen fan.

My dog was a rescue and his name had been Thumper before we adopted him. My parents didn't want to confuse him by giving him something completely different so we changed it to Tucker. His name being Thumper always makes me laugh though.

my first cat, puck, was named so as we took her in on midsummer's eve. she was most likely dumped by a college student and she found her way over to our neighbourhood and promptly slept on our porch for three days straight before my dad agreed to adopt her. she has sadly passed away now, but she had a good home for seven years.

my second cat, lily, was named that as she was a tiny little kitten [we think she was dumped because she is a runt.] when my oldest brother snuck her in. he found her behind a dumpster in a really bad blizzard seven years ago and we found a foster home like we promised our mum: ours.
xD she's my little baby though and thinks i'm her mum, which is soul crushingly adorable.

our dog is named fletch and he is also another rescue. we don't know why he was named fletch, but it's fitting and so it's stuck.

my third cat is named luke and he was adopted from a cat shelter i volunteer at. his previous owner is missing out on a little lovebug. luke=starwars, haha

I have 14 chickens, and each has a name. They are my special, very spoiled, children.

1.) Beetlejuice - rooster - Partridge silkie - because he's ugly, like Tim Burton's character, "Beetlejuice".

2.) Fernando - rooster - white silkie - because he has a *fabulous* crest.

3.) Cash Money (Cash) - rooster - white silkie - because his personality is worth $1,000,000.

4.) Maxwell (Max) - rooster - white silkie - because he's as wild as the kid (Max) from the book, "Where the Wild Things Are".

5.) Francis - ? - white silkie - because it's a unisex name, and they are also "fancy-schmancy".

6.) Pearl - hen - white silkie - because she's as lovely and demure as a pearl.

7.) Gladys - hen - white silkie - because no one knows why! She's not all "there".

8.) Henry - hen (sometimes) - buff (red) silkie - because she sometimes has an identity crisis, and acts like a rooster.

9.) Salty - hen - splash silkie - because she LOVES to complain and sass people.

10.) Ferdinan (Ferdie) - hen - splash silkie - because she's named after a grocery store.

11.) Valliant (Val) - hen - black silkie - because she survived a hawk attack and continued on, even though she saw her twin die.

12.) Gilbird (Gilbo) - hen - black Australorp - because anime.

13.) Janet - hen - black Australorp - because of "Rocky Horror Picture Show". Dammit, Janet!

14.) Magenta - hen - black Australorp - because of "Rocky Horror Picture Show".

We named our dog Byron. He's a very handsome border collie/black labrador, and he is named after the poet, Lord Byron.

I have had several pets in my life, but the closest to my heart are Penny, Brian and Soze (Pronounced Soz-eh, not Suzie)

Soze was named after Kaiser Soze from the movie The Usual Suspects. The reason for which was that my family and I swore that he was often plotting to take over the world. He was jealous, spoiled and mean to strangers but he was always my favorite (mostly because I was his favorite). Unfortunately, he's gone now...

Brian's original name was Duck from the movie Constantine but it was changed since Soze's original name was Stewie from Family Guy, so Brian's name was changed to fit and it was never changed back. (He and Soze were brothers.)

And Penny is our pitbull. She was named after her coat that looked like a new penny when she was brought home, and after Penny from Big Bang Theory to fit with our movie/TV show pattern.

I only have a picture of Penny.

Cats ::

Vincenzo "Bubba" Black - because he was a thug even as a kitten, beating up to adult males and taking control...also, he's black.

Memnoch - named for the Anne Rice vampire, and the loose allusion to her (the cat's) lithe and dark frame.

Tatianna ("Bit" or "Tot") - the first of the adopted childrens, the full name was an extension of the tot and bit, given for her smaller size.

Pennywise ("Penny"/"Penpen", depending on mood and context) - Named for a fellow writer, whose screenname was Pennywise. Also, she's a marbled calico and her fur looks copper in color. Penpen is a vague allusion to Evangellion.

Darkwing ("D.W.") - He's got long black hair. 'When there's trouble, you call DW'

Winnifred ("Winny") - Named by our son

Sasha - Named by our daughter

Dogs ::

Don Juan - As a pup he had a black streak of hair across his eyes that looked like a mask. Also, people called him a "little lover"

Chiquita Contessa - Wanted to keep the spanish theme, and she responded to the name.

Don Hote' ("Tay") - Son of Don Juan and Chikita, we wanted to keep the Don. Allusion to Don Quixote.

I have two dogs.

Monte and Ritchie got both of their names because of the streets they were found on. Richardson and Monte was found on a nearby street as well.

I had a hermit crab called Sneak a Peek. Mostly because it would peek out its shell before it would come out. I had a handful of other pets but Sneak a Peek was the most creative.
