Who I Am: A Poetry Thread

Welcome to 'Who I Am: A Poetry Thread.' This is the part of the show where Hazel comes out, and posts new poems for you read. Some are serious, others are not, and many are intriguing. And remember please, that these poems do include personal topics sometimes and may have content warnings. If that deters you, I'm sorry, but it is how it is. Anyway, thank you for being here, and I hope that you will enjoy what I have to offer.

    Who am I?

Hi! My name is Hazel and I am Nineteen. I am an aspiring writer and also occupied as a Warehouse Worker. My pronouns are they/them and I am nonbinary, panromantic, and possibly ace. I am also neurodivergent, which makes some things difficult for me. I currently run a couple different poetry accounts, but I also sometimes write short stories too. I have a work in progress novel codenamed 'Moons and Shadows,' but I haven't really felt motivated to work on it. However, if you may have guessed, this thread is based off of that project! Anyway, my favorite colors are pink and blue, and my favorite animal are Sea Otters!
    My Hobbies

Reading: I don't do this nearly as often as I used to, but I do like reading a lot. I have an extensive backlog of books I need to get through, but who knows when that is going to happen, haha. Currently, the book series I'm reading through is the Heroes of Olympus, by Rick Riordan. This is my second time reading through it, but I just love the Percy Jackson universe.

Writing: I think this one is why I'm here? Writing poems, short stories, etc... Its really fun what the human mind can imagine and create into a tale for people all around to read and know.

Videogames: I love playing videogames, and I am primarily a Nintendo Gamer. The Switch is my main console, and I enjoy playing games like: Minecraft, Pokémon, Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, and a bunch more.

color don't scribble

color don't scribble

Color me broken,
Paint me in pink.
I'm tired of blue,
Just don't mock me.

I live in a prison.
Some say it isn't.
But they don't know
What I'm feeling.

Are you dissatisfied
With a 'perfect' creators work?
Aren't we all?
You had brown hair,
But you dyed it blonde?
Aren't we all
Just a little bit dissatisfied?

And you,
You wore glasses
Despite this one
Making you nearsighted.

Aren't you just a little
Uneasy about this
Production quality?

So color me broken
And watch me turn pink,
Replacing the blue
With a stronger hue.

Thank you.

Let me be me,
And don't strict my rights
Just because I see myself
As one and a girl.
We all deserve
To be one with
Ourselves.

I originally posted this poem on my facebook account as a way to come out to family as transgender. Shortly after, I posted it to my allpoetry account, too. Since then I've changed to being just Non-binary, using they/them pronouns. I feel more comfortable with being gender nonconforming, and bouncing towards femininity and masculinity however I please.

I call to ye, O mirror of death
I call to ye,
O mirror of death

Mirror of death,
Let me see what
Lies beyond your
Majestic veil.

Pain is a grip
From the inside
That never
Lets you go.

Then it thrusts
Your head into
Circles to watch
You squirm.

Mirror of death,
Look at what I am:
A refugee from negligence,
Self-suffering.

Need we wait?
The sun is setting
Over a dark
Horizon.

Need we wait?
My boat is
All ready to
Set sail.

The Endless Cycle
The Endless Cycle

A summer never ending,
But a winter in name alone.
A day where the sky falls,
But a night where the
Colors fly.

It is in the rays of the rising sun,
Aggressive hues of orange and red.
It is in the drops of rain falling,
A blanket of wet covering
The surface.

Can't leave it alone for a few moments,
The horses will leave and the sheep
Will blend in with each other's wool.

Can't take a break for a few moments,
The silhouette will come out and
Stare mockingly at your work.

It is in the hours that glide past,
A detriment of age and time.
It is the clock ignoring your cries,
Each tick sounds like a laugh
In your face.

The Lonely One
The Lonely One

The room is quiet
And the darkness
Is burning like a
Candle lit in the
Middle of the night.

The shadows are
Wanderers searching
For a home outside
The panels covering
Your walls.

A small voice,
Distant but soft
Floats mesmerizingly
Around the open
Space.

It is weak but alive,
Sad but hopeful.
The walls close in
And the wanderers
Fall asleep.

The ghost sighs
And looks longingly
Towards the lit
Stars outside their
Window.

Those lights outside
Sparkle and dance
Around the doors
Of the spiritman's
House.

A lonely wanderer
Sadly secludes their self
From the shadows
That reside within them;
All around their soul.

The room is quiet,
But so is the voice
That coos the group
Of shadows living
In its walls.

No worries! I'm normally not one for pointing out minor mistakes, but I know you talk about publishing your work. Figured it'd be good to let you know. Not that I'm a prized editor or anything. I'm actually quite dum.😋

Let me see it
Let me see it

Train your eye
And look to the sky.
Tell me what you see,
A light in the darkness-
A truth lost to the lie.

Give me your name
And show me your blame;
Chastise me with your grief,
Let me see this mess
And I'll relax you with relief.

The forest is our home,
But where were you from?
A fragment of time past;
The pillar left forgotten,
Simply one of the last.

Here take my hand,
Let me show you this land.
Perhaps, here, you're free.
Perhaps, here, you're renewed.
It is time for us to see.

So train your eye
And look to the sky.
Tell me what you see,
Something in the night
Left to exist, merely,
As a lie.

would you be mine?
would you be mine?

Would you kiss me
Like the sun meeting
The moon's lips as they
Pass by each other
Everyday?

Would you hug me
As if ash was falling
From the sky as plumes
Of fire consumed the
Air?

Could you show me love
Like a mother to her cub,
Tenderly holding her child
To keep them safe from
Others?

I know I'm not very bright,
But even the faintest stars
Can still light up the specks
Of your imagination and
Heart.

I know I'm lost inside myself,
But every journey reaches a
End not merely alone but with
Someone who comes to adore
You.

But would you hold me
Like a river snuggling against
The ever present serenity
Of a forever calming
Ocean?

Would you?

This one is amazing! Maybe I should become your editor!🤔

The first bit, moon's* and pass*

If pointing out mistakes is bothersome, lemme know and I'll stop. I'm just trying to keep an eye out since you publish your work sometimes.👍😁 I absolutely love these! This thread now contains my first and second favorites from you.

no worries you're completely right on

I know
I know my home.
I know my face.
I wish it could change.

I'm stuck in this phase.
I know my place.
I wish it could change.

I'm learning.
I'm growing.
I wish.

I know my noise.
I know my tune.
It's a little too low.

I know myself.
I know my insecurities.
I know I need to change.

If I could change,
I know you'd love me.
I wouldn't feel ugly anymore.

I know.

Happiness
Happiness

That feel good moment-
The one with the hearts
And butterflies filling
Your head.

The bubbly feeling like
You're floating air and
Escaping the atmosphere-
You're free.

The carefree movements
That you make with your
Hands and your hips,
You seem happy.

Maybe the sky is blue
And now the light is
Shining deep inside
Your eyes.

That moment where
Everything comes to a
Stop and you feel so
Damn alive.

That feel good moment-
The one where you know
That everything is going
To be okay, its going to be
Okay.
