Festival of Lights

Location - Revelstoke Library

The cold wind of the winter air blows from outside of the library, howling against the window panes. A stark contrast to the warm and cozy environment inside. The place was brightly lit up by lamps, candles, and christmas lights that are strung up along the rails and shelves of the room. The fireplace crackles, keeping the place warm during this freezing time of year. Other festive decorations such as wreaths, tinsel, and dolls adorn the interior, as well as a christmas tree stood up in the center with crafted presents underneath. All in preparation for the festive season.

The place is quiet, as it should be. The peaceful atmosphere inviting a safe space for those in need of it. Though the only person inside right now is Roman, one of more well-known residents of the town. They're keeping watch of the place for the owner, who left them in charge while he's out and about taking care of other matters. Roman didn't mind. After all, there's a reason they chose to work there. Not only do they love books, but they enjoy the cozy feeling the library provides.

Roman saunters around the room as they tidy up, humming along to the holiday music playing on the radio. They always loved this time of year. Ever since they were little, they would always get excited for the festivals held in the town, even volunteering for the preparation of them once they got old enough. Roman carries a stack of books over to one of the shelves, returning them to their proper places while smiling and singing along to Jingle Bell Rock under their breath.

Auriela had grown increasingly weary of spending the day at home, feeling restless with little left to occupy her time on her day off from the police station where she worked alongside her dad. The early afternoon felt oddly stagnant, and even though the party loomed on the horizon, it was still too early for festivities. Moreover, she had made a promise to Roman to stay sober—a vow she intended to uphold. Having already mentioned to them that she would swing by the library, she decided it was the perfect plan to lift her spirits.

She stood in front of her closet, selecting her favorite red spaghetti strap dress, which hugged her figure just right. To combat the winter chill, she layered it with a soft white faux fur coat that added a touch of elegance to her look. She opted for comfortable black flats, holding her black high heels in her other hand, a nod to practicality. With her wavy blonde hair cascading down her shoulders, she gently tucked it behind her ears, a smile growing on her face as she imagined the warmth and camaraderie waiting for her at the library.

As Auriela entered, she was instantly enveloped in a cozy, festive atmosphere. The library was beautifully decorated for Christmas, with twinkling lights draped across the shelves, casting a warm glow. A large wreath adorned the entrance, its rich green foliage accented by bright red berries and a shimmering gold bow. The sweet scent of pine mingled with the aroma of hot cocoa wafting from a small table set up in the corner.

The fireplace crackled softly, sending flickers of light dancing across the walls, creating a perfect backdrop for the holiday spirit. Stockings hung from the mantle, each uniquely adorned, and a garland of evergreen trailed along the edge, completing the enchanting scene. Auriela’s heart swelled with warmth as she took in the decorations, feeling the joy of the season wash over her.

As she made her way deeper into the library, the sound of muffled singing reached her ears. She couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of Roman, their mouth moving animatedly while the words were still trapped behind their closed lips.

"Hello, love," she called out, a mischievous smile spreading across her face as she approached them. Her hazel eyes sparkled, momentarily more green in the festive glow, capturing the essence of the joyous occasion. POV - Roman Marshall
Roman was just putting up the last of the books when they heard the familiar voice call out from behind them, startling them a bit and causing them to nearly drop the book on their head by accident. With their quick reflexes, they caught the book in their hands, eyes going wide from the close call. Afterwards, Roman turns around with a sheepish look to see none other than Auriela giving them that mischievous look of hers. As they expected, she arrived with her usual cheeky demeanor.

A light pink dusts across Roman's cheeks as they let out an awkward chuckle while rubbing the back of their neck. "Eheh. Um...I meant to do that." Roman's eyes drifted over Auriela in her red dress and fur coat. She had such a vibrant aura to her look, leaving them in a bit of awe. She looked very pretty. Though Roman couldn't help but envy her fashion sense a little. They usually just stuck to simple sweaters and coats and scarfs. Appropriate given the cold climate that they live in, but still. It'd be nice if they could rock it the way she does.

Disregarding those thoughts, Roman walks up to Auriela as they greet her with their soft smile. The difference between them has Roman looking down at her while they hold the book in their hands. "I'm glad you could stop by. It was starting to get a little lonely in here." They then turn to gesture towards the fun evening they had planned for the both of them. There in the area with the fireplace and soft cushions, a tray of decorated gingerbread cookies alongside two cups of hot cocoa, one with peppermint. "I have everything set up over here. Hopefully you didn't take long enough for your cup to get cold. Heh."

POV- Auriela Hale

With a soft chuckle at the sight of Ro nearly getting hit in the head, Auriela couldn’t help but cover her mouth to stifle her laughter, wanting to keep the moment lighthearted between them. Her eyes sparkled with admiration as she watched them catch the object effortlessly, their movements graceful and confident. "Bravo!" she exclaimed, her voice laced with genuine affection, and she offered a light clap, her excitement palpable.

As they walked over, her smile widened, illuminating her face with warmth. “Mhm, sure you did, love,” she said playfully, her tone teasing as she looked up at them, her eyes glimmering with affection despite her shorter stature, especially without her heels. The way they carried themselves, with an air of charm and confidence, made her heart flutter.

Her gaze drifted to the beautifully arranged fireplace that they had set up, its warm glow casting a cozy ambiance in the room. “Wow...” she gasped softly, her breath catching in her throat at the sight. The crackling fire danced invitingly, igniting a sense of comfort and intimacy. After a moment, she gathered herself, a strand of blonde hair falling delicately across her face, which she tucked behind her ear with a flirty smile. “I told you I’d stop by for a date before the party,” she added, her voice filled with a mixture of excitement and sincerity as she turned her head slightly to meet their gaze.

“I don’t break my promises,” she emphasized, letting the weight of the word linger in the air, especially when directed at them. “I only make promises I intend to keep for you.” Her heart swelled with affection, knowing the significance of her words. With a gentle motion, she reached for their hand, her fingers brushing against theirs as she took the book from them, placing it on the chair beside her with a graceful flourish.

In one smooth motion, she tugged on Roman’s hand, playfully dragging them toward the inviting cushions. "You also know I like my hot cocoa more warm than hot," she teased, her voice light and airy, a giggle escaping her naturally rosy lips, which curled into a playful smirk. The moment felt perfect, the warmth of the fire and the sweetness of their connection.

Linchette Bakery

POV- Aveline Linchette

Ave was just finishing the last batch of her grandmother’s famous Swedish apple pie, a cherished recipe passed down through generations in her family-owned bakery. The sweet, fragrant aroma of cinnamon and baked apples wafted through the warm air, mingling with the comforting scent of freshly baked goods that filled the cozy space. Her brown hair was pulled back in a messy bun, a style that had loosened throughout the busy day, while her red and green apron—a festive staple during this time of year—was dusted with flour, sugar, and a few splatters of egg yolk.

It had been about an hour since her last customer, but that was perfectly fine with her; it meant an early night. The pies were still too hot to sell, and she relished the idea of having them ready for tomorrow. She sipped on a cup of rich mocha, anticipating the arrival of her dear friend Rachel, who always brightened her day. Alongside the pie, she had prepared a selection of other delicious treats, each one crafted with love.

As she stood at her cooking station, she heard the familiar jingle of the doorbell announcing the arrival of some regulars. Ave looked up and greeted them with a warm, friendly smile, her heart swelling with joy. This time of year was always her favorite—filled with nostalgia and warmth. Since childhood, she had spent countless hours with her grandparents in this very bakery, making treats and sharing laughter. Now, as the proud owner, she felt a deep sense of fulfillment, realizing her lifelong dream of carrying on their legacy.

POV - Roman Marshall
Roman couldn't help but blush a little more at Auriela's flirty tone as she called it a date. They knew she was just trying to tease them, but it still always worked somehow. They looked with surprise as she took the book from their hands before pulling them over to the cushions, feeling the contact of her soft fingers against theirs. Roman smiled softly to theirself, finding Auriela's enthusiasm endearing. As much as she enjoyed causing trouble, she still seemed to appreciate it whenever they treated her.

"As long as it still warms you up from the cold." As they stand by the cushions, Roman takes Auriela's coat for her, neatly folding it before setting it down on one of the chairs. Afterwards, they go to bring over the cups of cocoa from the table as she sits down. They hold both of them in their hands as they walk over to her, leaning down to give her the one with peppermint, as they know she likes.

Roman then sits down right next to her, getting comfortable as they enjoy the warmth of the fire. They let out a relaxed sigh, actually glad to be having a chance to take a break after working all day at the library, keeping everything clean and organized. They look over at Auriela with their warm smile while holding their own hot cocoa in their hands. "Well, enjoy."

Auriela rolled her eyes playfully at them, a smile dancing on her lips. "I mean, if it’s too cold and not warming me up, someone could always, oh, I don’t know, wrap an arm around me," she said, her hazel eyes sparkling with flecks of green as she gazed up at them. Whenever Roman was nearby, her heart raced a little faster, and she could feel a blush bubbling just beneath the surface.

As she inhaled the comforting scent of peppermint mingling with rich hot cocoa, warmth spread through her, deepening her delight. The flickering and crackling of the fireplace filled the room with a cozy ambiance, enhancing the intimate atmosphere. The delightful aroma of old books wafted through the air, mingling with the warmth of the fire and the sweetness of the cocoa, creating an inviting cocoon that made her feel utterly relaxed. This was a respite from her usual mischief and antics, and she reveled in the serenity.

The cocoa was perfectly tempered, just right for sipping, but she had a different idea in mind. With a gentle shift, she rested her head on their shoulder, savoring another sip.

“Delicious,” she said, her tone sincere yet laced with a hint of seduction and playful flirtation, making the moment all the more enchanting as the fire danced in the background, casting a warm glow around them.

As much as Rachel enjoyed her job, it was always nice to have a day off. Teaching people how to ski and snowboard was fun, but she liked being able to take some time to do other things. Like spending time with friends. There was always one friend she seemed to want to be around before any other.

So, here she was, picking up a salad for Aveline Linchette. Rachel was eager to do it, really. Bringing lunch to her dear friend meant she got to hang around the bakery for a while, spend time with Ave. After a bit of waiting, she received the food she had ordered and set off to the bakery.

Rachel sped to get to her friend. She always had been a bit of a wild driver, it was no surprise that she'd break a couple of traffic laws in order to bring Ave lunch quickly. It only took her a few minutes to get to the Linchette Bakery. She parked her little car and headed into the bakery, the scent of sweet treats hitting her as soon as she stepped inside. Whenever she visited the bakery, she felt so proud of Ave. Owning and running a bakery didn't seem like an easy task, but Ave always seemed to manage so well.

Rachel waited to the side for a moment as Ave helped a couple customers, then stepped forward to the counter the second they were done. "One salad for my star baker," Rachel grinned warmly in greeting. Setting down the bag of food and taking out Ave's salad, presenting it to her friend.

Ave's smile blossomed into a radiant grin when she spotted Rachel walking into the shop, the familiar sight brightening her day. After wrapping up with a few customers who hurriedly passed through without savoring the delightful croissants and pastries, she leaned over the counter, her excitement palpable. "Thank the heavens! I was close to passing out. Let me grab your mocha, and I'll meet you at one of the tables," she said softly, her voice infused with warmth as she made her way to the coffee station.

While the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, she quickly removed her flour-dusted apron and carefully plated one of her last delicate eclairs, its chocolate glaze glistening invitingly. Once the coffee was ready, she carried the steaming cup and the sweet treat over, settling into a cozy chair across from Rachel.

"Here you go, Snickerdoodle," she said, her tone a blend of sincerity and playful flirtation, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. She leaned forward, eager to witness Rachel's reaction as she took her first sip of the mocha and bit into the eclair, the flavors dancing on her palate. Ave couldn't help but hold off on the delicious salad her wonderful friend had brought, focused instead on the joy of sharing this moment with Rachel.

H
ollis had just finished her early shift at Whispering Pines lodge and after hours of cleaning up after people the only thing better then going straight home to crash out was heading to her favorite bakery for a warm treat that would renew her energy. She was heading out by herself at first but ran into Mikey on the way out and decided to invite him, offering to buy him a treat, since she'd given him up to the law earlier and she felt maybe a tiny bit bad about it.
Pushing open the door of Linchette Bakery, the familiar scent of fresh pastries immediately welcoming her. She glanced over to the table where Rachel and Aveline were chatting, a smile blooming on her face as she moved towards her two friends. As she walked further in Mikey followed closely behind her, a slight smirk on his face as he looked around.

"Hey, ladies!"
Hollis called out, waving to Rachel and Aveline.
“You're favorite hellion has arrived, and Mikey’s here too. ”
she teased, shooting him a playful glance. With a quick glance at the cozy bakery’s soft, warm ambiance, Hollis gave a contented sigh, leaning into the comfort of it all.
"This place always feels like a little piece of heaven"
she said, moving to pull up a chair at their table, sitting in it backwards with her arms casually draped over the top.

Her eyes flickered toward the display case, filled with mouthwatering pastries and cakes.
“Is it okay if I grab some stuff from the display Ave?"
Hollis asked, her eyes flickering back to her.
"I don't wanna make you get up since I can see your taking a break, but I did kind of promise Mikey I'd buy him something. I can leave the money next to the register, then you guys can enjoy the pleasure of my company.~”
she added with a mischievous grin.

Roman playfully rolls their eyes back at Auriela's continuous flirting, trying to hide their shyness as they glance away while taking a sip from their cup. "You would like that, wouldn't you?" The two of them continue to sit together by the fire as they embrace the warmth and coziness of the scenery. This was quite nice for Roman. Usually they're always looking for something to do, whether it be work or an activity that they enjoy. But even they can get overwhelmed at times and need to take a minute or two to just relax. And this was certainly no exception. Just sitting here with Auriela, drinking hot cocoa and watching the fire, in the calming environment of the library. It put them at ease.

Roman then feels the weight of Auriela's head against their shoulder, eyes widening slightly as they glance down at her with surprise. They let out a faux scoff at her attempts at seduction, though secretly finding some amusement in her flirty mood. "I'm glad you think so. I've basically mastered the art of cocoa by now." Roman sinks back a bit into the cushion, getting more comfortable and relaxed by the second. "You know, you didn't have to stop by here. I wouldn't have minded if you headed over to the party."

POV- Auriela Hale
Auriela glanced up at them, her eyes softening in the warm glow of the flickering firelight. The cozy room was adorned with plush cushions scattered around the fireplace, inviting her to sink back and relax. With her head nestled comfortably against their shoulder, she felt a sense of security wash over her. "Oh, I know; I must say, I'm impressed," she remarked, a playful smile dancing on her lips as she took another sip of the rich, velvety cocoa. The perfect blend of peppermint and cocoa wrapped around her senses, warming her from the inside out, a comforting reminder of the joy of the moment.

As she savored the drink, the heat from the fire cast a gentle warmth around them, making the space feel intimate and safe. The soft crackling of the flames, combined with the sweet aroma of cocoa, created a cocoon of tranquility that surrounded her like a favorite blanket. Nestled among the cushions, with their shoulder as her support, she felt more at home than ever.

When she heard their comment, she raised an eyebrow, a teasing glint in her eye. "And miss out on a small date with you?" Her voice was light but firm, revealing a determination that bubbled beneath the surface. She placed her cup down, fully turning to face them, feeling a rush of affection. "Besides, I promised I wouldn't drink tonight and would celebrate the Rommykins way." With a soft wink, she leaned in closer, their faces mere inches apart, delighting in the closeness before pulling back to reclaim her cup.

After taking a sip, she nestled her head back against their shoulder, feeling the warmth of their presence wrap around her once more. Being near them filled her with a sense of warmth and belonging, a feeling that was increasingly rare in her chaotic life. She adored how they put up with her spirited nature, her penchant for partying, and the occasional—okay, every few nights—of drinking. It was a testament to their patience and understanding, qualities she cherished deeply. In return, she felt a fierce loyalty to them, grateful for their willingness to embrace her vibrant personality without judgment.

In this shared moment, surrounded by the flickering flames and soft cushions, she realized just how much she valued their connection. Despite the uncertainty lingering from the chaos of the party a few weeks ago, being here, with her head resting on their shoulder, felt right. It was a reminder that sometimes, the most meaningful moments come from the simplest of gatherings, where laughter, warmth, and genuine companionship reign supreme.

Mikey had barely missed the cutoff for the latest snowboarding trials. Marley had gotten in by the skin of her teeth for her skiing, and Molly had opted not to try out this time because she wanted to make sure that her routine was absolutely perfect before she debuted it for the judges. But he had tried his best, and worked super hard, but despite everything he had tried, he hadn't made it. There were simply too many good snowboarders out there right now. He knew that he was the family disappointment in his parents' eyes, so it wouldn't hurt their feelings too bad when they'd find out that he wasn't going to advance any further this year. Besides, he had better things to do now. Training for next year? Nah, he was going to have the most fun he possibly could until his parents would start nagging at him to get back to the grind.

He figured that he had until after New Year's. That gave him just enough time to raise some hell before the dreaded training would start up again. And the sad fact was that he still enjoyed hitting the slopes, even though he hated to compete - especially against Marley. She was, after all, the golden child, and both he and Molly knew that. It's why they preferred to keep each other's company instead of with their older sister.

But, family politics aside, Mikey was on his way home after the trials, trudging through the snow that had accumulated on the ground since earlier that day. And, wouldn't you know it - Hollis Warner herself was walking in the opposite direction. After a brief conversation with his good pal, they both headed for the bakery, his stomach loudly rumbling from beneath the layers of clothes he had on. (And his outfit, in his eyes, was pretty 'drippy', as the kids would say.) And speaking of kids...they had really done a number on him that morning. Walking with his feet planted firmly down on his snowboard for a cool trick, he had faceplanted right in front of the children's lesson. Despite his best efforts to save face, they had ganged up on him - and before he knew it, he was getting beat up by a group of eight year olds.

It was so bad that even the local news briefly covered it. Yeah, he was cooked.

And then he had been outed for stealing the decorations off of the Christmas tree at the lodge. But, to be fair, he had bought himself a dirty martini after the results of the trials had been posted. He had gotten a little bitter between the trials and passing by the tree.

Mikey had had a long day, to be entirely honest. But he still wanted to hang with his friends, and so he sauntered into the bakery, making a beeline for the blueberry muffins. "I believe I have been promised a muffin for my efforts, Miss Warner." His words rang out as matter-of-fact, though his usual playfulness seeped through as usual. " 'Sup, Rach and Ave?"

POV - Roman Marshall
Roman was taken aback by Auriela's sudden bump in bubbliness. They blushed again at the sudden teasing look she was giving them. That and her calling this a date again. They were about to say something when she suddenly placed down her cup before leaning towards them, putting their faces inches apart. Roman's eyes widen, freezing up as they lock eyes with Auriela. They could feel their cheeks heating up at her sultry tone, the wink she gave them, and that silly nickname. Their words get caught in their throat as Roman continues to stare in a starstruck manner.

That is until Auriela then leans back before grabbing her cup again, getting comfortable once more as she gets back to drinking her hot cocoa, as if none of that just happened. Roman is still at a lost for words for a moment before they snap themselves out of it. They look down at her with a raised eyebrow, feigning unamusement for a second before they sigh. "You are something else, you know that?"

Roman gets back into a comfortable position once more as the two of them continue to sit together. They still were enjoying this moment together very much. For as long as they knew Auriela she was always a perky one with a sense of rebellion. Already drinking and going out to party and venture, without a care in the world. It was concerning to Roman at first. It still kind of is. But they knew that there was more to Auriela than being scandalous. They could see that deep down, she's really as sweet as pie.

POV- Auriela Hale
Aurie could feel the warmth radiating from Roman's cheeks, a sure sign of their shyness that only intensified her flirtatious side. She loved how easily they blushed, and the way their bashfulness made her heart flutter. "Yes, I know..." she let her words trail off, savoring the moment as the atmosphere between them grew more comfortable. "But you haven't put an end to it yet," she added with a teasing smile, enjoying the effect her playful banter had on them. Not that she wanted them to stop; she genuinely cherished their time together.

Trying to shift the topic, she asked, "Soooo, Romi Bear, are we stopping to get you some comfy clothes before or after the party?" Her voice carried a playful hint as she continued to sip her cocoa, her gaze fixed on the flickering fire rather than on Roman. She loved teasing them, though deep down, she was in love with them, a truth she wouldn’t dare admit. Inside, her heart raced faster than she would ever confess if they asked, caught in the delightful tension of their connection.

POV - Roman Marshall
Roman playfully pouts and rolls their eyes at all these nicknames. They could tell that Auriela was getting a kick out of teasing them. Not that they weren't already used to that by now. They take another sip from their hot cocoa as they continue to relax on the cushions. They keep their eyes on the fire as well, letting the warmth continue to soothe them. Roman runs a hand through their flowy, dark brown hair. "I can always just bring some clothes from my house. It's no problem."

Roman then turns to look over at Auriela as they smile over at her playfully. "Unless you wanted to take me clothes shopping." It wouldn't be the first time that Auriela would drag them along into shopping, especially when it came new clothes. It was one of the usual things she invited them to alongside parties.

POV- Auriela Hale
Aurie turned to meet their gaze, her hazel eyes flickering between shades of green and gold. She felt herself getting lost in their soft blue eyes, which seemed even gentler than usual. "Shopping, you say? So, in other words, I can dress you up?" A playful smile spread across her rose-colored lips.

Setting her cup down, she stood up, smoothing down her dress before extending her hand toward them. "I would love," she emphasized the word "love," "to get you some new clothes."

Her eyes scanned the room. "We've been here almost an hour, and not a single other person has come in... Can't you close up early Romi Bear?" She looked up at them with a soft pout, her eyes sparkling with mischief and charm. In their company, she always felt an unparalleled sense of safety and comfort. Their presence was like a warm blanket on a chilly night, making her feel secure enough to be vulnerable.

POV - Roman Marshall
Roman can't help but chuckle at Auriela's playful banter. Their own heart fluttering while watching the light of the fireplace flicker in her hazel eyes. "I'm sure you'd have plenty of fun giving me a makeover. You definitely have more of a fashion sense than me. Hehe." They gently take her hand in theirs while continuing to smile at her.

After hearing her, Roman looks around the place as well. It was true, they were the only ones in there at the moment. It seemed like everyone was more focused on getting ready for festive times more than coming to the library right now. Roman sighed as they thought to themself. It was tempting, but they did make a promise to the owner that they'd take good care of the place until he got back.

Roman turns to Auriela with a soft look. "I would. But I promised my boss that'd I hold things down for him while he's out. But don't worry. He should be back soon. The library doesn't have long until it closes for the day."

POV- Auriela Hale
Auriela sighed softly, acknowledging that they were right. She didn't want to see them in trouble; her own feelings were secondary when it came to them. Gently moving her hand away from Roman's, she wrapped her arms around their neck, a playful smile spreading across her face. "As soon as you can close, you better," she said, her hazel eyes sparkling with warmth and mischief.

She leaned in closer, the air in the room growing thick with unspoken tension as she held their gaze, losing herself in Roman's light blue eyes. The surrounding bookshelves, filled with stories and secrets, faded into the background, and the crackling of the fireplace became a distant murmur. Taking a deep breath to steady herself and hide the lump in her throat, she whispered, "Romi," her voice barely above a murmur, her eyes never leaving theirs. The moment felt electric, filled with anticipation and the undeniable connection they shared.

POV - Roman Marshall
Roman becomes surprised by Auriela's arms wrapping around their neck, blushing again from the sudden gesture and her playful tone. Their blue eyes widen a bit as they sit there looking at her. They can only nod in response as lock eyes with her once again. Time seeming to slow down as they share this moment together. As Auriela leans in closer again, Roman couldn't help but freeze up once more. Her soft voice, the look in her eyes, they seemed to have them in a trance right now.

Roman's face heats up once more as their words can barely escape from their throat, nearly coming out as a croak. "A-Aurie?" As the fireplace continues to roar and crackle, the atmosphere continues to grow warm and intimate. Roman couldn't quite describe it, but this all felt so...enchanting. Something about Auriela just always seemed to grab a hold on them. No matter what.

Aurie kept her gaze locked on theirs, a playful smile dancing on her lips as the atmosphere around them crackled with unspoken tension. The warm glow of the fireplace cast flickering shadows across the room, creating an intimate cocoon that wrapped around them. The comforting scent of aged paper and a hint of cedar filled the air, enhancing the cozy ambiance.

"Yes?" she asked softly, her voice a melodic tease that lingered in the space between them. She remained still, neither moving closer nor pulling away, allowing the moment to stretch deliciously. Her heart raced, the rhythm echoing in her ears as she took in the way their light blue eyes sparkled in the firelight.

The sight of their cheeks flushing a delicate shade of red brought an even wider smile to her face, and she felt a thrill of joy at the way they reacted to her presence. There was something enchanting about this connection they shared—an understanding that transcended the physical, ground in mutual respect.

POV - Roman Marshall
Roman's face remains hot as they continue to grow bashful from this exchange. The tension building as they continue to sit together in each other's embrace. This is not the turn they were expecting. Roman's eyes never leave Auriela's as they continue to look at her with awe. The warm glow on her face from the lights and the fireplace made her look so angelic, even if she was giving off this mischievous aura.

Roman clears their throat, adjusting the collar of their sweater as they let out a low nervous chuckle, looking off to the side in a sheepish manner while doing so. "Um, are you alright? What's with that look?" Roman was secretly growing a bit giddy as the anticipation continues to rise. They knew that Auriela has a few tricks up her sleeve. She always does.

POV- Auriela Hale
Aurie tilted her head to the side gently, her eyes remaining locked on their features, which seemed to glow with a golden aura in the warm light. "I have no idea what you mean," she replied, her voice playful, her face just inches from theirs. A soft smile tugged at her lips as she bit her bottom lip lightly, a few strands of her blonde hair falling across her face, framing her features.

At that moment, she contemplated her next move, a swirl of ideas dancing through her mind, each one tempting her to push the boundaries of their playful exchange. The air felt charged with anticipation, and she relished the thrill of the uncharted territory they were navigating together.

POV - Roman Marshall
Roman's cheeks continue to stay flushed as they sit there, pouting lightheartedly. Auriela knew exactly what she was doing. She was just trying to get under their skin now. Roman huffs as they continue to look at her with their soft blue eyes. "Don't be silly. What if someone walks in right now?" Roman's butterflies still don't seem to dissipate as the exchange continues to move forward. Auriela's dragging this out on purpose.

Roman knows she's up to something. It was obvious at this point. But the level of bashfulness they were feeling was preventing them from thinking straight. All they could really do was just sit there, anticipating what her next move was going to be. "Aren't you going to finish your cocoa," Roman said as they continue to grow antsy from this prolonging moment between the two of them.
