Other What type of character do you usually play?

I know there's probably a thread for this anyways, but I was curious as to see what characters other people favored. For example, I favor highly emotional characters (or those going through powerful emotions) that are pretty serious and care deeply about other people.

It sort of depends. I usually come up with a archetype while reading or watching some form of media and just alter according to the story I'm telling.

But I do come back to two archetypes or variations of them often.

Oddball and outcasts. I love characters that are a little bit quirky and just slightly off from expectations

And outcasts are great for exploring new world's or themes of acceptance

Manipulators. They're a bit difficult because you have to get a feel for the players and not give away much of your plans to anyone but the GM, but there's something satisfying about convincing a character to do something for you out of their own free will.

I like to play chivalrous, knightly characters. There's just something I love about playing a gentlemanly beefcake who is unaware of how to display affection.

-Aromanic Asexuals. Might be self-centric seeing as I am aro ace. I don't have much skill or any interest in writing romance with other characters.

-Archers/Snipers. In any rp with combat, depending upon the setting, I like the elegance of the sniper/ranged fighter archetype.

-Snarkers and bad jokes. I like to play the character with snarky one-liners, trolls, and bad jokes. Like dad jokes. Jokes that even the character knows are bad but (s)he makes them anyway. Generally when I make these characters they have a more serious side when the RP gets serious.

So I guess you could say most of my characters are "arrow aces".

For the most part, I've seen myself play the missguided villain, who was in someway evil, but was for the most part wasn't sure if being who they were was the right path to take.

The other character I've seen myself use is an asexual, because I don't have skills in anything romantic.

Usually the stoic outcast with a tendency to work alone and would have to adjust to team and group activities. While trying to turn them into some form of specialist should the Rp have combat. Giving them a clear style and not too much of everything allowing for them to single out their individual skil set instead of fitting any situation every time out.

That or the con artist type with troubled past and preference to have fun. A sense of fair play and justice of his or their own make, such as leaving innocent folks and defenless be while seeing the rich and arrogant types you might come across as free game. Likes to have fun but has trouble committing to people as trust is not in his field of experience seeing as he's never had those he could truly trust and not get double crossed by them.

I try to expand beyond those two, but a majority of mine usually are troubled of past and difficult in some way. The caring side is usually well buried deep down inside and covered with a mask of some kind to hide their troubles and just forget them.

Other than the obvious <---

I tend to create OC's of power and manipulation; a hard shell covering some deep seeded character development. Not necessarily 'evil', but dark and self centered. It has to be carefully done though, as I don't wish to scare potential writers away with how brash my characters can be, but those tend to be my favorite. Futaba is very much not like that, but is a lot like me as a person, which was a refreshing and new turn out from my usual rp experiences over the years. It's interesting to think about, actually.

I don't like sticking to my comfort zones, but I tend to do it a lot.

Usually the Loner. But I also like playing the optimistic character. But not too optimistic.

My comfort zones are in the mentally damaged and unfettered. I have been told I do it well.

I also dip into fatherly types, as I do the bumbling dad quite well.

i like to play manipulators with ambitions, they're fun to play and have a wide range of personalities, plus interactions with other characters is fun but it is annoying when a player metagames so now i usually keep my characters thoughts to themselves.
other than that i usually play other archetypes depending on the rp

the skillset and powers can vary as can the attributes and flaws. but i typically play short, petite figured young adult women who can pass for a teenager or adolescent human, despite being a lot older or simply slightly older.

I usually like characters that aren't inherently bad, but have done bad things in their past. It also ends up being characters who are old or a lot older than they look. And characters from ostracized fandoms too (Undertale I'm looking at you.)

I really like playing characters who are kind and pretty clever, but are also shy. I love exploring characters having to grow and come out of your shell. I also like giving my characters a fairly sheltered background.

Hands down i play the villain, or the hardened prick.
I love being antagonistic towards other ocs and hinging my characters self worth based on their opinion.
I'll admit though, it took me a long time to find the right balance where i wasn't "that guy"

Though i have had a successful DnD campaign where i ended up the big bad, the dm decided to run with it and set the other players to kill me, they succeeded, and it was awesome!

I like playing domineering/damaged characters that sometimes come around a bit. It's an odd mix but I've always been comfortable writing it.

I like playing ancient races, older and long-lived characters and contrasting them against younger races and characters. The perspective of a being that has been alive for hundreds if not thousands of years is something I find fascinating, not to mention giving me a lot of "space" to fill in interesting backstories.

i try to always create varied characters so i don't get too tired of playing one archetype, but i tend to favour extroverted self-assured characters who mainly care about themselves and slowly develop a more caring side towards other people. flirty and obnoxious is always a fun plus.

Usually I create different types, but my favoured seems to be those with a very dark past. Idk I find playing broken people kind of fun.

I usually play a character that is like me, so then it's just easier to think how the character would act. If that makes sense. So, in short: awkward, likes puns, and wants others to be happy and laughing.

I could say I make varied character types but that's rather obviously not a proper answer, so I won't. Since I am, you know, rational.
(sorry I had to get that off my system)

Anyway, I am a big fan of making more exotic types of characters. I like characters that explore the limits and depths of the world-building, but there are also more general types I love. I make my share of animal (usually inumimis) and clothing/weapon characters. But more than that I absolutely love playing child characters. Their innocence, the interactions they can provide, the sheer cuteness... they are a very underrated type of character, but I love playing one.

In combat terms I usuallly takemore planning characters, with either summons, binds or better a power manipulation ability, like stealing, copying (one of my personal favorites is making a copy that is a defective version of the original) or creating. I also love being pretty contorlling with my characters, perhaps an expression of how much of a control-freak I can be in reality.

I often go through phases like most people (for example, I've taken a recent liking to father figures, actors and businessman) , depending on what media I've been consuming, but those are general guidelines.
