What it takes to be a Warrior | Responses

What would you like Duskkit to do? (this can be multiple actions and I might use every response)

> Check out the medicine cat's den

> Explore the apprentice den

> Go out of camp

> Write in something

(you can write in simple actions as well like play with Wolfkit or eat fresh-kill for the first time)

Exploring places before we get into the thick of things seems like a good idea.

Create-A-Cat

Rules to this:

  • This time around I only want warriors for Skyclan.
  • One made per-person. These could potentially be mentors for the three kits.
  • Deputy is allowed to be made since they would also be a warrior, but only the first person to make deputy gets the deputy and all others will be changed to warriors.
  • I only need image and personality. It can be really simple since I will fill in the rest.

Since I'm an overachiever:

Sparkshadow

She-Cat | Straight | 148 Moons
Warrior of Skyclan

Relationships
Family: UNKNOWN
Crush: UNKNOWN
Mate: None
Kits: None
Apprentice: UNKNOWN
Close Friends: UNKNOWN
Enemies: UNKNOWN

Sparkshadow is a serious and enigmatic she-cat who often prefers to be on her own rather than with the rest of the Clan. She holds very little presence in conversations -- not because she doesn't contribute, but simply because of her proficiency in masking her presence -- often leading to her being outspoken by her louder Warrior counterparts. When this she-cat does pronounce herself, however, most would be hard-pressed to interrupt her, as her tongue brings truth and deep insight whenever it is released. Her ability to analyze and break down most situations both in and out of combat is incredibly formidable, even among other Warriors, and her many moons of experience only adds to her ability to see through more than the average cat. Although Sparkshadow is by-and-large neutral when it comes to others, it's well-known that she has a soft-spot for Kits, and it's rumored that she desires some of her own... But that's unconfirmed, as no one has been brave enough to ask her outright.

Contributor: @Ensig

The history I have in mind has Sparkshadow originally being a Rogue, and joining the Clan after the previous leader assisted her in hunting a large group of prey she had been backing into a corner all on her lonesome; her reason for joining started off as 'to hunt more proficiently', but she eventually warmed up to the Clan, proving herself a valuable asset ever since. Her proficiency as a Warrior is tied to her unending patience both in and out of combat, her mastery of masking her presence, and her ability to stake out prey or enemies in areas they least expect it, catching them unawares and striking from the shadows (that particular trait earned her the suffix of her name).

Wow, you used the code and everything! You didn't have to, but thank you. I will probably close this tomorrow since I have to make two warriors myself and write up the post. I want to give some time for others to make characters too.

Copperleap

Deputy (or Warrior) of Skyclan

Copperleap is an optimistic, yet pragmatic cat. Moons of experience in the clan has left her considerably wise, but has not hampered her undying positive outlook on life. Even when things look like they're truly bleak, Copperleap is always the one to try and cheer everyone up. She takes her duties very seriously, and will assist her clan in any way possible, loyal almost to a fault. One of the oldest cats in the clan, she is often sought after for advise and information regarding some topics. Kind and benevolent, don't mistake this cat for a pushover. She won't be putting up with any of your mouse dung anytime soon. Unbeknownst to anyone else, Copperleap is planning on retiring soon and becoming an elder.

(Obviously, if she gets an apprentice, she's going to wait until the apprenticeship is over before retiring...)

I made some adjustments to Sparkshadow (mainly Grammatical and Code-border related, but I noticed that I kept the name I originally decided upon and later changed -- Sparkstalker -- within the Personality section; I think the names both suit her, so if you prefer the 'stalker' suffix, go ahead and change it, I guess). The code in the Spoiler box has been adjusted accordingly, so just plugging it into the Source will do nicely.

(I will try and get something up today, but coding was messing up yesterday so I have to remake Speckledfang and I have a few school things to do before. I believe I should have time, but I am just thinking I have a lot to do)

We made beautiful cats and now it is time to pick the Mentors of our three apprentices. Their mentor could determine the path these three kits take, so pick as a leader would and decide what cats best suite these kits.

Who will be the mentor of Duskkit, Wolfkit, and Desertkit?

> Ravenstar (the leader)

> Copperleap (the deputy)

> Cloudpetal (the medicine cat)

> Sparkshadow (The senior warrior)

> Silverthorn (the ambitious warrior)

> Beetleroot (the lover warrior)

> Mouseswipe (the patient warrior)

Who will be the mentor of Duskkit?

> Ravenstar, Beetleroot, or Mouseswipe

Ravenstar would be a good idea for plot progression. From an IC perspective, Ravenstar would put himself forward as Duskkit's mentor due to his belief that she was the kit seen in Cloudpetal's vision way back when. By sticking close, he could find out what the vision entailed... And, even if Duskkit isn't the one from his sister's revelation, he would still be doing his job.

Beetleroot may come off as a bit of an odd-ball, but the decision to have him take mentorship once again involves Ravenstar's belief that Duskkit is involved with his sister's revelation. In the case that Beetleroot is the mentor, Ravenstar would be able to keep close tabs on the kit, seeing as her mentor would be causing a ruckus basically anywhere the pair went. Tongues travel fast, after all. Ravenstar could justify his choice by saying that 'The student will correct the mentor, and learn from her own teachings as much as his own' -- implying that Beetleroot would learn from Duskkit's polite attitude and become more mature, and Duskkit would grow by keeping him in check; as Beetlerrot will still be teaching her how to fight, that wouldn't stunt her growth as a Warrior... Right?

Mouseswipe is the natural choice of the bunch. Duskkit is a bit smaller than the rest, and with her polite personality she matches Mouseswipe very well. Thinking only of Warrior training, he would be a natural choice as a Mentor... But, at the same time, this decision is a bit lackluster. If possible, prioritize Ravenstar or Beetleroot in the case of a tie.

Who will be the mentor of Wolfkit?

> Copperleap

She shares the same positive energy I sense in Wolfkit, but is far more mature. She may be able to trim the childishness in his nature down a bit, replacing it with loyalty, practicality, and above all else, discipline.

Who will be the mentor of Desertkit?

> Sparkshadow or Silverthorn
Silverthorn is actually my secondary choice for Desertkit, as Desertkit seems capable of bearing the tom's more prickly points while still learning from his actions and behavior... Or, in other words, Desertkit is likely able to extract teachings from the good parts of Silverthorn, while remaining untouched by his bad points, thus cultivating the young tom in a very good way -- likely making him more proficient and leader-like than his mentor once enough Moons have passed. However, as Desertkit's progress all depends on how capable he is at handling pressure, I would prefer my primary choice: Sparkshadow.

Sparkshadow will be able to cultivate Desertkit through more natural methods, as there would be no clash of personalities needed for him to mature under her care. In fact, their personalities align very, very well, and as Desertkit seems like the type that would learn well from things left unspoken, he'd be able to learn a lot from her despite her more reclusive, silent personality (it might even be because of that personality that he'd be able to learn so much, in fact). This is my primary choice because it would be naturally cultivating the strengths Desertkit already seems to have.

Duskkit should be mentored by Ravenstar. She's the main character and the prophecy cat, so it makes sense the leader would want to keep an eye on her. (shhh I know I'm metagaming)

Wolfkit should be mentored by Copperleap because I shamelessly want my character to have tons of plot time.

Desertkit should be mentored by Silverthorn or Sparkshadow, or if we want to make a big twist, Cloudpetal, though I sense Desertkit wouldn't want to be a medicine cat...

(sorry, I am super late. I just started work and have had a few roleplays starting)

>Duskkit- Ravenstar

> Wolfkit- Copperleap

>Desertkit- Sparkshadow

What would you like Duskpaw to do for her first day as an apprentice?

> Patrol the Borders and learn scents

> Start hunting training.

> write in

> Patrol the Borders and learn scents

Starting with the basics seems good. It'll give our kit some time to converse with Ravenstar (esp. why he chose her as his apprentice), too.

If y'all don't mind me popping in here.

Patrol the borders and learn the scents of the territory and other Clans. You can't trust ShadowClan as far as you can throw em'.

I would also like to welcome newcomers. Normally, I have this out every other day, but I am going on a trip on Friday and so I have been having to do work in advance for class.

Should she....

> Speak up and say what she thinks the answer is.

> Just let Desertpaw say something or perhaps Wolfpaw just fall flat just in case she is wrong

> or do you have a suggestion.

How do you think the apprentices are suppose to know which way they are going?

> Write in (if you get it wrong and choose to speak up it will change the direction)

> Speak up and say what she thinks the answer is in a manner that is humble; the group's mentors are the patient sort, so there's no meaning in keeping things to herself... But still, it would be better to admit that she isn't completely sure and learn properly rather than giving an overconfident, brash, whatever-guess-comes-to-mind sort of answer (except in Wolfkit's case -- as that can only be expected).

> Through the scent and sound of the River. As there's a river to the East of Skyclan (or at least there is if we're using the Canon Map as reference) it will provide an increase in moisture and sound when it's nearby. If the group is heading North (to the Twolegplace), the River will be 'on the right'. If they're heading along the river (due East), it should be 'in front' or 'very close'. If they're headed South (to the forests), then the river will be 'to the left'. If they're headed West (which is frankly the least likely direction, what with all the cliffs), the sounds/scents surrounding the River will be near nonexistent or, at best, 'behind them'.

It'd also be possible to tell which direction the group is heading simply by remembering which parts of Skyclan they passed directly before leaving... But using 'scent' as mentioned IC, the River seems to be the most reliable choice.

Very detailed answer. I will say that the map above is a map of them still living on their own. In this uncannon world (due to recent books) I decided to make it where they are with the other clans by the lake. With a little bit of looking on the map, I decided that they would be placed in between thunderclap and shadow clan in the forest between those two not owned by any clan

@Ensig the second entry should tell you a little about where we are located. If need be, I can make a settings page since I can see how that isn't available so readily for newcomers

@DemonKitten

So we're farther from the Gorge than expected... I'll need to look into the Wiki a bit to get a solid grasp on the topography surrounding Thunderclap and ShadowClan. I'll delete my original response once I've at gathered enough information, and replace it with a new one.
