The time has come for the first annual WGBH Gala. We couldn't be more excited for the staff, both new and old to mingle and have a chance to get to know one another. Not to mention the chance to finally get to know the newest network head @jarrington.

The dress was cutting into the soft flesh of her armpits, and Barbie wanted nothing more than to rip the garment off. When she had bought the strapless ensemble, it seemed great. But now that she was wearing it for an extended period of time? She had regrets.

Barbie stood off to the side of the room, champagne glass in hand. There was soft gala-like music playing from speakers above. There were a decent amount of people here a the party, but Barbie didn't actually know any of them. She had started this job just a week ago. There were a few names she was familiar with, but so far she hadn't spied any of them at this party. Barbie didn't actually like champagne. There was a potted plant nearby. She walked over and discreetly tipped the dry (how could a liquid be DRY?) drink into the soil. There was a table nearby for dirty glasses, and she left it there.

Where did one go in a room full of strangers? Barbie looked around again and spied the table of finger foods. Ah! That seemed as good a place as any to go. High heels clicking on the tile, Barbie walked over to the table and began pursuing the selection. Cocktail shrimps, finger sandwiches, and what looked like some kind of bite sized cheesecake adorned the tables surface. Taking a paper plate in hand, Barbie loaded up on small delights, smiling to herself the whole time.

Angela sighed at her driver parked outside at the venue the WGBH Gala was held. This was the first event she had been with since her accident, whether it was for fun or business and she wasnt sure how to feel. She used to love events like this, both as a model and as actress this sort of events where she would network and schmooze, and she did it well. Her biggest role was gained by the connections she had made. At a party she was in her elements, at least it was. Seemed like a lifetime ago since her accident she was reborn in her current form and her confidence seemed to have reset. Maybe once she got out of the car her instincts might kick in but would it have the same effect now with her wheelchair?

Just choosing her outfit was something of an adventure. The fact she was now permanently sat down give surprisingly a lot to consider. The dress would hang different on her, it was cut in the right way, so it did no shift when she moved in the chair, even the fact that if it was too long it might get caught up in the wheel. After a dozen or so try on, a difficult task to do on one's own. She picked a nice satin green dress, keeping it fairly simply, so when she sat down it was just long enough to fall just shy of her knees and just big enough that it hugged her slender form very well. In the end the challenge of dressing in a wheelchair though difficult was something she enjoyed. Figuring how to use her assets differently.

She could some of the paparazzi outside. She was one of the network's biggest stars now as far as that was worth, and she was sure most of them wanted to see the former big star in her first outing. She groaned as they stopped and the driver step out to bring out her chair and help her to it. It was not the most dignified way to pictured in front of the gossip mags. Still there was no helping the matter. She forced a smile as the door open and even waived as the driver picked her up. "The perks of being disabled being handled by such strapping man!" She commented trying to play off the awkward position with a joke." She kissed his cheek leaving behind a lipstick mark on the reddened skin.

She gave her waves poses before entering the main hall where the gala was held and so everyone there. She did her homework before arriving so though she didnt know many people personally she recognized some. She drove her wheelchair carefully through the crowd, trying to resist the urge of using the horn and watch people jump. She caught a few stairs and whether it was for her look or her chair she was not certain. She didnt talk to anyone just yet, she needed some fuel and liquid and fuel. She picked up a champagne glass, already imagining the drink-driving jokes she would get from her on out making her roll her eyes. She recognized Barbie on the food table and thought to start with her.

"Sorry miss. Mind helping me with the those shrimps?" She asked her as she picked up a paper plate and set it on her lap before pointing at the tower of shrimp, which was just out of reach from her. One of the benefits of her chairs, asking for help was a good icebreaker if used right.

Ren

Production Assistant

With a heavy sigh and a final wiping of her hands on the skirt of her dress, Ren pushed the doors open and entered the main room where the gala was being held. When she sighed up to be a production assistant at a dying TV station she didn't exactly imagine needing to spend one of her few paychecks from it on a dress for a party that probably cost more than her rent. Why couldn't they use that money to fund the station? Nevertheless at least it was a chance to get her out of her same old mom jeans and sweatshirt combo and into something a little nicer, though between Ren and the fenceposts, the dress was on clearance at Nordstrom Rack.

She scanned the room for a bar or a waiter, if she was gonna make it through this entire night she was gonna need some alcohol, stat. Champaign, gin, whatever, as long as it was hard and cold. The high from her last cigarette was wearing off, as well as the stimulation from her usual energy drink in place of lunch. Which reminded her to keep an eye out for some appetizers too, she was suddenly starving. Still, having one night without rushing from set to set to set to trailer to craft services and back to set was nice, even if it was a little stuffy.

Across the room she could see a few familiar faces from around the studio. Including Angela Roman, the famous movie star who had come to WGBH to direct. The very same person who also happened to be the same age as Ren herself (a few weeks younger too if you really wanted to split hairs) while achieving much more success than she did. She could recall watching trailers for Angela's breakout role six years ago while recovering from mono. Sort of ironic now that they were working together at the same studio, although technically Ren worked for her, most of the employees at the studio were essentially her boss for all intents and purposes. She was an underling, although for now, she was an underling in a cheap dress at a party, still without a drink in her hand, time to remedy that.

Christian Faulkner
"My grandson adores your show. Even wants Santa to bring him a camera for Christmas, just like yours!" as the old man spoke to Christian, spittle flew out of his mouth. Ick.

"Oh, that's nice." Christian said, sipping his cheap champagne. It was a lie. The kid should ask for something way better, like video games or money. Maybe even a dog.

"His favorite episode is the one where-"

"Oh!" Christian pulled his phone out of his pocket. "I'm getting an important call. I am so sorry, I must take this. You have a good evening."

It was a bold faced lie. Christian simply did not want to talk to this crusty old man about the stupid ass kids show that was ruining his career. He held his silent phone up to his ear and began to walk towards the edge of the room the studio had booked for the gala. Christian hated the gala. Maybe, if he had been on Broadway or Hollywood like he had planned. a gala would be a fun event. But no. He was stuck in the ass crack that was Boston, playing a leading role a kids show he hated so that he could pay his fucking rent.

His manager owed him big time.

Christian lingered on the edge of the room for a bit, looking as if he was in fact on an important call. When he deemed the coast clear, he put his phone back in his pocket and surveyed the room. He looked around for anybody he was familiar with, anyone at all. The last thing he wanted was for that old fart to track him down again and talk about his stupid grandson. Christian spied Ren, the cute little production assistant who ran around the studio.

"Hey, Renny Ren!"
Christian fast walked his way over to her side. "Looking fantastic! How are you on this fine evening?" He sipped his champagne, hoping Ren would be friendly enough to him that he could avoid people. He had never been outwardly mean to her (that he was aware of) so things should be good, right?

Laken Carelton

Laken could hear the cheers outside her car as is arrive to the gala. With the new show premiering soon, both old and new fans were excited to see the podcaster brought on screen, which from the looks of outside, everyone seemed to be hyped about so soon. Getting out of the car her security guard instantly came around to escort her into the building, Laken keeping her eyes turned down from the cameras as to not be blinded. Inside the venue was beautiful, with shimmering lights and music playing. Making her way to where everyone was chatting away, someone walked by with a tray of champagne flutes to which Laken snagged one for herself with a small smirk on her lips. The only people she had met at WGBH Studios so far is the hair and makeup team, and a few of the photographers though she couldn't remember their names.
With her manager talking in her ear about meet and greets and other publicity stuff for Red Flags, Laken couldn't help but tune her out. She just wanted to meet people she knew and possibly get drunk at this event just to get through it. Scanning the area, she eventually found her co host and wandered over, teasingly putting an arm around the slender girls shoulders, "hey Patty, so you ready for the first show on Monday?" She teased and took a sip of her drink, "I think first episode we should kick off with a bit of banter about dating apps, what do you think?" She asked as she dropped her arm and moved to stand in front of Pat with a playful smile on her lips.
This behavior is what the girl was known for now, flirty, teasing... She couldn't help herself. Trying to get out of the role model narrative that was placed on her took a lot from her personality. She used to be bubbly and sweet, but all she had now was the mask she put on for the world to stop looking up to her to raise their own kids with morals. She wasn't like that, she wanted to be her own person, but the person she became is what she worked hard on to change herself. "This party already seems like a bust, but the stylists gave me this super cool dress, what do you think?" She asked as she held out her arms a little to do a little twirl for Pat, "the designer asked me to wear it, and they're paying me to do it... Some things people do to get their names on the market is crazy." She said with a laugh, straightening out some crinkles in the dress that the twirling had caused, "you look scrumptious by the way." She stated, giving the shy girl a once over.

Dress

Slowly pulling into the valet Bonnie could hear the clamoring of the crowd the bright flashes "why am I here again?" He tugged at the black dress that hugged her curves nicely

"Same reason as any other. Mingle with people, Eat cheepfoods, drink cheep champagne. Plus your the stunt double. Your presence is needed here" Merucio unlocked his door stepping out his towering figure made a few shutter bugs go silent "always happens."

Bonnie steps out and tosses the keys fluffing her hair out "LA PETARDO" a handful of young Latin girls yell causing Bonnie to blush slightly "I didn't know they broadcasted this far out~" her mood switched now talking to the young fans taking selfes and giving a flex for them. Moriceo takes this time to move himself to the background of the gala felling more then out of place

"Remeber, hard work is always rewarded~" a slight sigh escapes her lips as she makes her way to the gala.

Barbie Schneider

Barbie placed a mini quiche on her plate, licking her lips, when someone next to her spoke. A woman in a wheelchair was next to her.

Barbie had yet to meet the great Angela, but she was familiar with her work regardless.

"Oh, yes of course!" Barbie picked up the plastic serving tongs. "How many would you like?". Barbie doled out the correct amount with a smile.

"You're Angela right? I'm Barbie." Inwardly, Barbie cringed at her name. Introductions always reminded her of that talking Barbie toy they had in her second grade classroom that would exclaim "HI, I'M BARBIE!" in the loudest, most obnoxious voice possible. Setting her plate on the edge of the table, Barbie held out her hand for Angela to shake.

"Its a pleasure to meet you. I'm the new anchor for WGBH news. I don't know if we will get the chance to work together, but I look forward to the opportunity none the less."

Barbie wasn't sure what to say now. What did you say to someone who was such a celebrity as Angela is (or had) been? Awkwardly, Barbie picked up another treat and popped it into her mouth.

"Three, please." Angela replied to the question of the number of shrimp, lifting her plate to allow Barbie to serve them for her. "Thanks that is perfect. Sorry for the trouble." She added with an appreciative smile and wink before eating one of the shrimps. Standard cheap frozen, she thought disappointedly, maybe she was being a little bit of a diva but she had hoped the food would be better for her first outing since her accident. Still she wasnt here to eat but networking and introductions not for food but still couldnt help feel a little disappointed.

"Yes, Pleasure is mine." She said taking the offered hand. She had to supress a chuckle at the introduction, hearing the same thing as Barbie had as she spoke her name. She had heard the name but had expected it was a nickname with Barbie's name would Barbara or something. Poor girl being given a famous name like that. "I heard about your predecessor, at least you know you cant go more than him." She said half jokingly trying to break the little tension between them, she knew she could be intimidating and a bad joke helped humanize her a little. "You are wearing a lovely dress by the way. Beautiful." She genuinely complicated but could see how it could be uncomfortable. Usually because the dress was too tight on her. She felt for her but sadly had no advice to help her beyond telling the effort was worth it.
