Fandom Westeros Of Years Past || Games of Thrones

Am I required to have watched the whole show in order join in? I'm rly interested, but have very limited knowledge of the GOT.

You aren’t required to have seen the whole show! We can always help if you have any questions!

Okay :) I'd like to have an in depth idea on the lore, like the houses and the over all conflict. (though i could always just conveniently google that)

I have a couple of ideas for a character or two, but for now I think I'd prefer to take on side or support roles, if that's fine. (e.g right hand person, servant, mere soldier, ) I'd leave the leader/lore dependent roles to someone who's more knowledgable.

Bumblebeee Bumblebeee

I'd be interested in a Matriarch for Dorne and potentially a second character for the Iron Islands.

As for your answer, the only choice would have been Sansa from those available but Yara (Asha) will always be my queen.

family
mother: Jaidyn Martell [deceased]
father: Erock Martell [deceased]
siblings: None
spouse: Carden Yronwood [deceased]
children: Barrock Martell [deceased]
lover: WIP
history: Born in a tumultuous time for Dorne Aobrey should never have found herself crowned Prince. Daughter of the third born son of the Prince, her father and mother were royal but certainly not in line to be crowned. That was until the Night of the Seven Vipers. Late in the evening The Prince of Dorne and his family gathered to celebrate the twenty-second birth year of Erock Martell, The Prince, his wife and two older sons, sat by the cooling pools of the Water Gardens as the sun started to set, awaiting their evening meal to be served.

A nursemaid arrived, whispering to Jaidyn that she was urgently needed: her daugher, Aobrey was ill and the Maester did not believe she would survive the night. Jaidyn and Erock excused themselves and retreated to their quarters just in time. Shortly after they left the remainder of their family were set upon by assassins, slain where they sat.

Erock found himself the unlikely heir to the throne of Dorne overnight, along with plenty of rumours of suspicion of how that came to be. As it happened Aobrey's fever broke and she recovered. From this day forward her fate was drastically changed. Her father did not want what happened to the rest of their family to happen to them and enlisted the greatest fighters of Westeros and Essos to act as their personal guard and train his daughter to defend herself.

headcanons
  • Trained in a variety of combat styles but favours her spear.
  • Grew up with the second son of House Dayne, he was a ward of her father and they were best of friends and young lovers.
  • Her mother passed when she was young, natural causes.
  • Crowned Prince of Dorne at 18 after her fathers death, suspected assination.
  • Married at twenty to Carden Yronwood; eldest of her banners. A marriage arranged suitable by their fathers and accepted among the houses of Dorne.
  • Gave birth to her son a year after being married, Barrock.
  • Survived an attempted assassination the day before her son's first birthday, her husband and child did not.
  • After recovering she set out across the desert plains with her childhood friend, lover and trusted protector (Name) Dayne and hunted down the men not only responsible for the death of her family but those that plotted against her family's name.
  • Earned the name The Venom Tongue by being both wickedly vicious to debate with and the rumor that her kiss was death to any man who took it without her consent.
  • Honour's Reach (spear) is a family heirloom that never leaves Aobery's side.
  • Well educated, not only in writing, reading and numbers but she speaks several languages; Common, Tyroshi, Lysene, Myrish and Volantene.
  • She does not know how to swim; she has seen the sea and visited the shore; she has never been in waters deeper than her waist.
  • Has left Dorne only a handful of times and never as an adult; she has had little exposure to the other kingdoms and peoples and knows more about the cities across the Narrow Sea her people conduct trade with than those who serve under the same King.
  • DragonHeart is Aobrey's prize steed, flesh black as night with a mane and tail red as blood. His offspring are highly desirable.

history:

Tybolt is the eldest by 7 minutes. He was doted on by family and servants alike as though he were the prodigy child. He learned at a young age that if he simply said something with a smile nearly everyone would bend to his whim, even if what he was saying was plain rude.

He excelled in education and picked up strategy from his grandfather and father quickly making him adept at maneuvers and battlefield strategy. In truth he'd little practiced, only defending the shores of the Westerlands from would be raiders. He doesn't consider them much of a challenge. Intelligent and well educated; Tybolt excels at reading and literature with a fondness of languages; he has self-taught himself several from Essos including Bravossi, High and Low Valyrian and several curse phrases from Dothraki.

Often misconstrued as being apathetic Tybolt is typically seen as being shallow and cold when he's speaking his truth. Women tend to fawn over him because of his wealth and genetic good looks; he would be a fool not to enjoy the attention. After the injury to his hand he spent several months learning how to use his left instead; which led to plenty of young maids and maidens following him around the keep and castle to offer help should he ever need it.

As he grew his use of his opposite hand became better, enough that he could wield a sword in defence, if the need ever came.

Tybolt was raised under the stern gaze of his father and grandfather, knowing very well that he was destined for greatness, so they said. Then the day came when his father revealed what he truly meant: Tytos intended on making a match between himself and the eldest Targaryen daughter. She would never be Queen, no, but it would bond their families in blood and name leaving the Lions that much closer to sitting on the Iron Throne.

Tybolt wasn't amused by this plan; the Dragon family's history was strief with madness and he knew little of his potential bride to be: she could be the maddest of them all! It was his loyalty to his family and blood that won out in the end, leaving the Lion to travel to King's Landing with a letter of offer.

history:

Born the second son of the House of Lannister there was little expected of him from his family besides: do not make our name a fool. Most of his life he spent second guessing himself and truthfully only ever felt that his brother ever had confidence in him.

When they were children and Tybolt was injured while they played fighting, his father didn't speak to him for months; he'd been blamed for his brother's injury despite it being accidental. That had been the last time Tymond had played with his brother, distancing himself.

As a teen he signed up for a tourney held at the Twins anonymously and though he didn't win he took second place and was astounded at how much he loved the competition of it all. Following this event Tymond knew he wanted to do nothing else with his life. He wanted to become the best of knights and maybe one day even be grand enough to be part of the King's Guard.

He started participating in more and more tourneys, now using his own name and carrying his family's banner. His father never travelled to watch him fight; only choosing to watch those that were held at Casterly Rock and even then it was clear he had little interest.

Tybolt, however, travelled with him, whenever his oldest brother wasn't needed at the Keep or sent away to woo another family into submitting to their family banner. This was, of course, how Tybolt became aware of Tymond's preference for the same sex. Certainly Tymond enjoyed the company of women as well, but he certainly couldn't turn down a devilishly handsome man with a stern frown.

He'd thought this would part the twins indefinitely. He knew very well how their family and their religion frowned on his choices but instead Tybolt gifted him a beautifully crafted sword named Requiem; a gold and silver inlaid hilt with red and white precious gemstones. It had been a bond of promise from Tybolt; he'd never reveal his brother's secret, not even on his deathbed and promised him that Tymond would always have a place within their House.

From that day forward Tymond remained as Tybolt's sworn sword, travelling with him and keeping him safe.

History:

Cedric Stark was neither discouraged or upset when he noticed that his eldest brother had been receiving more attention and training from his father. Even at the age of thirteen, he expected as much, Gawyn was destined to secede their father as the head of the Starks after all. After observing Gawyn receive a disproportionate amount of attention and punishment, Cedric knew that he must make something of himself rather than relying on the training that was more focused on his brother.

Being born a Stark still had many perks associated with it that Cedric was able to fully take advantage of on his journey. Having not been trained as intently as Gawyn, he set out to learn through experience. He would spar with the soldiers outside of the guard, forge with the blacksmith, and hunt larger and larger game until he was proficient. He was well aware that he would not sit on the Stark throne, but he took pride in knowing that he could still be of great value to his house.

Years went by and Gawyn had grown into a skilled young man that rivaled even the finest swordsmen under the Stark banner. Cedric was at his side throughout this growth and had formed a strong bond with his brother. They loved to keep tabs on their progress almost as if it were a game. Hunts became competitions, walks became races, even simple sparring matches turned into troupe-wide tournaments that ended with the brothers at the top. Where one was lacking, the other picked up the slack.

At the age of twenty Cedric had become an ambassador for the people under the Stark banner. Any supporters or vassals were worth fighting for in his eyes, and he loved to do so valiantly. He took after his mother, Ilyana, and held a fierce, but kind demeanor that embraced allies and destroyed enemies. Unfortunately, this would cause issues in his life since he acted on emotions many times rather than logic.

As for any emotionally driven being, Cedric would run across moments that helped define him. While he had the utmost respect for his father, he began to look at him with disgust. After watching years of abuse toward Gawyn, his father finally broke Cedric by executing his friend’s family for harboring an enemy soldier that was disabled in combat. Cedric understood what the enemy was capable of, but he also recognized that many front-line soldiers were pawns and fighting because it was all they had. From that day on Cedric rarely shared a word with Warrek Stark until the day he died. At the funeral, the other Starks had much to say regarding the life that Warrek left, but Cedric just thought to himself, “Good Riddance.”

Gawyn was now the head of the Starks and Cedric was ecstatic about the future. After his father’s death, Ilyana gifted him a wolf pup with a silver and white coat that he named Frost. At first, he was scared to take Frost on hunts or missions with him, but they grew to understand one another and fought in unity. After two years of fighting under his king brother, he was appointed to the rank of Captain within the Stark army. He has taken this role with honor and has learned more about strategy, but still struggles with acting on his emotions. Together with Gawyn at the helm and Cedric leading some of the forces, he has started to feel that they are unstoppable.

Was not considered for King's Landing guard since his bloodline was muddied by a Borrell
Father abandoned he and his mother to try to regain his trust with the Thornes
Mother was eventually killed by bandits while he hid
Swore that he would become strong and protect people regardless of house
Enlisted but was not allowed to use the Thorne name
Eventually his father decided to get rid of him for good
He was banished from Thorne controlled lands but eventually settled in a smaller village near Targaryen lands
Became a prominent member of the village when it came to the work and dedication put in to it
Was not close to any of the villagers outside of doing the work for them
Still having trouble getting over trust issues that stem from his father's betrayal and abandonment
Eventually a consistent visitor starts breaking through and he begins to form a bond
Sarene is this visitor and he asks her to marry him
They get married and he begins to grow closer with more people in the town now
They have a child named Val and life is good for the first time in his life
Soon after the village gets raided and many people are killed, but he stands his ground at his house for hours
He loses his ear and is badly wounded, but as he is about to lose consciousness a band of Targaryen knights arrive and finish of the raiders
He wakes later to find his family is okay while most of the village is gone. his wife is tending to wounded Targaryen soldiers while one of the knights is questioning her about his fight
The knight offers him a position in the Kingsguard after finding out that he is truly a Thorne
In return for his service he gets his Thorne name recognized and they will keep his family safe within King's Landing
He graciously agrees, but is weary
Eventually he comes to trust the Targaryens
Becomes a trusted guard and is given missions that are more than just standing guard at King's Landing
Some missions become questionable, but the thought of his life outweighs the morality issue for him
Has a boy named Shale and gains an even stronger urge to please the throne
Becomes happy again and starts helping out the poor around King's Landing when he can
Is eventually assigned the task of assassinating a child to end a lineage that the Targaryens wished gone
Struggled with this, but eventually poisoned the child and is now haunted by it
Learns to separate his life and his work so that he can continue to be happy with his family

Somehow survived being thrown off a ship in full armor during a storm

Has repressed PTSD he refuses to acknowledge

Thinks he may have been chosen by the Drowned God, due to visions he’s had Visions are actually hallucinations caused by his trauma

Tries to hide how much he legitimately he loves his wife and how happy he is to become a father

Can actually be a fun guy once you get to know him

Gets really uncomfortable on land

Was literally born on a ship

Treat his family’s sword Red Rain like a child, would rather die than lose it

Enjoys fishing, i.e. jumping into the sea naked with a spear

Has frequent nightmares of drowning

Despite being a devout worshipper of the Drowned God, he has an extreme fear of drowning

Has a really good singing voice

Can outdrink almost anyone and will prove it

Has issues with his masculinity

“It is my destiny. Once we stop ripping each other to shreds, we’ll once again be the scourge of all of Westeros.”

Prefers being called “Captain” over “Lord”

Just doesn’t understand those frilly Southroners

A bit overly idealistic

Loves anything with fish

Oddly well groomed

Also interested! I wouldn’t mind filling out for one of the Arryns.

As for the question in the rules, I wasn’t overly thrilled about the options available left by the end of the season. I’m pretty much in the Sansa boat, but I could see a case for Jon too.

Ayrena is a very interesting young woman who has far more depth to her than any might expect. She is very energetic and is often in a pleasant and teasing mood that makes her quite charming to old friends and strangers alike. She plays the role of the air-headed little sister but is actually quite intelligent and catches on far more than she lets on. She just finds life to be more fun if others think she is of lesser intelligence because then they do not expect as much from her. She cares very deeply for her siblings and loves them more than anything which means she would protect them with everything she has. She has a smile that could light up a room and tends to be more forgiving and optimistic than her older sister. She also acts as a support for both of her siblings and is willing to listen to all their troubles and woes as well as give them advice. She is also an incredible social butterfly who is charming without trying and often catches the eyes of men married and single alike.

~Loving
~Loyal
~Clever
~Adventurous
~Merciful
bad traits (5):
~Acts like an idiot
~Some might say she is too optimistic
~Too forgiving
~Relatively defenseless if physically attacked
~A bit of a wild card
usual mood: Cheerful and full of energy, always trying to bring smiles wherever she goes.
greatest joy: Getting to spend time with her bother and sister as well as their dragons. Also the parties but that is just because she is such a social butterfly.
greatest fear: She fears that something will happen to the rest of her family and that they will be killed or torn apart. She would give up everything just to keep her brother and sister safe.
greatest memory: When she first held her dragon Laenyx and her father held her on his lap and told her how Laenyx would always be there to protect her just as he would. One night when she was unable to sleep so her sister let her crawl into bed with her and held her close telling her stories all night long.
worst memory: Much like her sister it is a tie between the day she lost her mother and the day she lost her father.
motivation: To protect her brother and sister but to also protect the people because it is their duty as royals to think of them before themselves.
rebellion or targaryen?: Targaryen

Family
mother: Valerys Targaryen
father: Baelon Targaryen
siblings: Rhaena, Valarr, [unknown: bastard sister]
spouse: n/a
children: n/a
other important family members: n/a

History:
Life in the palace is charmed, or at least that is what everyone believes. Growing up Ayrena knew that this was both true and false, life was both charmed and terrifying, especially since she was the reason the king despised his queen so greatly. Had Ayrena been born a male she would have been her father's pride and joy, instead, she was born a female and became his greatest disappointment and the reason he lashed out so greatly at her mother. As much as Rhaena tried to shelter her from this truth Ayrena knew from a young age that her family would have been far better off if she had not been born. She offered them at most a bargaining chip but she was not firstborn like Rhaena or male-like Valarr when he was born years later, her value was minimal and her father made her aware of it despite how her mother and Rhaena tried to shelter her from that reality.
Ayrena thus learned at a young age that her blood was not the only family she could have, she could obtain friends and family through the bonds she made with those who served in the castle. They were always kind to her but that was because she was a princess, she desired to want them to want to be kind to her rather than feel forced so she made it her mission to befriend as many as possible. It was through this that Ayrena learned the struggles the people of her kingdom endured in a way that it seemed no other in her family did. She began making it her life goal to be the voice for her people and to help them in any way she could. She visited orphanages, fed people on the street, paid for that which those suffering needed most. She went out and made her people her family and she continues to work hard every day to protect them.
Of course, it was dangerous to treat the people as friendly as she did, to walk the streets with minimal guards and without making her sister aware of where she had gone. One night that danger became real when a group of men desperate for coin and with nothing to lose dared to take the princess against her will. They almost made it out of Kings Landing but were stopped by a lord from a noble house who saw the struggling girl fighting the men in dark ally and brought it to the public's attention causing the masses who favored Ayrena to turn to her aid. With the Lord leading them the people and he managed to incapacitate the group of thugs but not before one managed to stab Ayrena in the side. Instantly the people cleared the streets, not wanting to be in the way of their princess in need as the lord rushed her back to the Red Keep. Ayrena almost died that night but thanks to the northern lord and the people of Kings Landing she lived. While many might think of the scar she bears from that night as a reminder not to be so trusting she believes it to be a reminder of how her people saved her and how she owes them even more now.
With the passing of her father and her younger brother assuming the throne Ayrena has taken it upon herself to become his channel to the people. She works hard to maintain a relationship with those of Kings Landing and beyond and does so not only for her benefit but for the benefit of her brother and sister as well.

Her loyalty is to her oldest friend Rhaena and she would do anything to ensure the safety of Rhaena and all of her siblings. That perhaps is her greatest weakness and the most dangerous thing in this deadly game for Kyra, she will never betray Rhaena, she would rather die than see the hurt of betrayal in the eyes of her oldest friend. Why? Because Rhaena was one of the first people to treat her like a human being rather than an object and for that she has her undying loyalty. For Rhaena Kyra would ruin reputations of nobles all across Westeros, seduce even the sleaziest of men or women, use her mind and body in whatever way necessary to keep Rhaena safe and get her the information she needs. History:
Growing up Kyra became aware of her role as an object rather than a being at a very young age. She was introduced to her first marital match when she was only 4 and he was 6, they were set to wed when the both came of age. He later died of illness and the betrothal died with him but it was soon after that her father began the hunt for a proper suitor once again. According to her father children were meant to be seen and not heard. Any form of ill behavior or acting out was met with swift punishment, the only comfort Kyra had was her dolls and dresses that were meant to make her look older than her years.
One day Kyra's father was invited to send Kyra to the Red Keep for tutoring due to Princess Rhaena's need for friends of high status. Kyra believed this to be nothing more than another power move for her father to make but she did as she was told and went to the Red Keep. It was there that Kyra learned her true value from Rhaena who showed her kindness and what it was like to be treated as a true human being. Kyra loved her time she spent at the Red Keep and all the adventures she and Rhaena got into together. It was there that she truly became free and several years later when she returned home she was no longer the scared little girl who had left her father's lands, but was instead a powerful woman who demanded respect and forced it from him.
Now Kyra has dedicated her life to the protection of her best friend in whatever way possible. She acts as Rhaena's eyes and ears, gathering secrets, favors and intel to use on Rhaena's behalf. So long as Kyra can help it no one will ever get the better of her friend.

hair texture: Loose waves, sometimes curly
common hairstyles: Either down or up in a braided ponytail
voice: Emeraude Toubia
physical disabilities: N/A

personality: Larra isn't like most women in Westeros, she is strong, fierce, and independent. She will let no man tell her what to say or do or how she should act unless that man is paying her damn good coin, and even then he had better mind himself. She is no one's plaything, she is no one's toy, she is a warrior, a fighter, a killer and she is damn good at what she does. Of course, since she is a sellsword her skills and loyalty can be bought but if she likes an employer enough it might make her not wish to seek out further contracts or make her less willing to be bought off. She is certain to tell each of her employers that if someone with a bigger purse comes along she will do what is best for her business, but deep down she would likely stay loyal to someone she has been through a good amount with. She can be crude, direct, and even disrespectful, using her looks to lower her foes guard then striking when the time is right. She does not often show mercy but refuses to kill an innocent child, she would never harm one so young. Deep down Larra has a good heart but she knows that having a good heart doesn't mean you will survive the cruelty of the world and so she will do whatever she needs to in order to make it to the next day. History:
Growing up is tough, but growing up alone on the streets is far tougher. This is the life Larra knew for as far back as she could remember. In her mind there are no memories of warm hugs, soft kisses, or lullabies to drift off to sleep to; there is only the need to survive and the pain of being too weak to protect herself. Yes, growing up alone on the streets is hard especially for a beautiful little girl. She cannot remember every face that caused her pain because there are too many to count, people took from her what little she had, called her filth, beat her, and far, far worse. Eventually, Larra became the property of a low life who forced her to steal for him, to serve him and do anything and everything he wished, and when she didn't obey or even if he had an off day she was what he took out his frustrations on in the most unspeakable ways. Life held no joy for Larra, only fear and a need to survive, a need that grew as she grew and became stronger as she grew less scared and more enraged at being the property of this man.
Eventually, one night when her master had had an off day and taken to the ale he came to her to try and release his frustrations on her. When he grabbed her she fought back like she never had before, she struck out and her most basic instincts told her exactly what she needed to do to survive and so she killed him. Blood poured from his throat and dripped from the small blade in her hand and for the first time, Larra felt free and felt true joy because she had finally become strong enough not to just survive but to take a hold of her life and protect herself. After that night Larra set out to learn from any who would teach her in the art of combat so that she would never again fall prey to the cruelty the world shows those who are weak. She trained with some of the most elite fighters in Dorne, Braavos, and all throughout Westeros and became a legend in her own right. With her skills creating a name for herself Larra became a sellsword who worked for whoever would pay her best. Now she enjoys the luxuries of her labor and her name means something to those who hear it. Now she is no longer the prey but instead has become the predator.

family
Mother: Lady Eleanor Dayne
Father: Lord Benedict Dayne
Siblings: Trystane (Elder Brother), Clarisse (Younger Sister)
Spouse: N/A
Children: N/A
other important family members: Ser Ulrick Dayne (Grandfather - Deceased) - One of the greatest knights in living memory.

History:
Olyvar was born in Starfall to Benedict and Eleanor Dayne, where he was raised alongside his elder brother Trystane. In typical fashion for highborn sons (particularly Daynes) he also began honing his skill-at-arms at a young age, training both under the resident Master-at-Arms and even his grandfather, Ser Ulrick Dayne on occasion -- the Sword of the Morning himself (who had long since abdicated from actively managing Starfall’s daily affairs).

It became readily apparent that Olyvar had far more of an aptitude for many of the traits one would expect of a leader of men than his older brother. There was a real fear from Benedict that Oly’s continued presence might cause his older son to lose face, endangering the legitimacy of his claim to the lordship. Or worse, that Olyvar might one day claim Dawn: the ancestral greatsword of House Dayne. This -- along with scandalous rumors brewing in and amongst the smallfolk (and even some of the nobility) that Olyvar was in fact a bastard, born of a tryst between Eleanor and some unnamed Targaryen lord (due to the boy’s striking silver-and-black hair and violet eyes) led to the decision to send him away.

At ten years of age, Olyvar was sent to Sunspear to live as a ward of Erock and Jaidyn Martell... ostensibly to further bolster relations between the two longtime allies and potentially explore a marriage match between himself and Aobrey. While there, he received an education from the Martell’s Maester in literature, history, arithmetic, and other subjects that was far more in-depth than anything he had received at Starfall. At his insistence, he continued to train in the skills of a knight, eventually squiring under Erock’s younger brother (an anointed knight) for several years.

Oly returned to Starfall for brief stints over the years, but scarcely felt welcome at his family’s hearth when he did, using the time simply to train. For all intents and purposes the Martells became a new family to him as they welcomed him like their own son. Even more so as he bonded closely with their daughter, Aobrey (despite some initial rockiness in their relationship). The two quickly became inseparable over the years, though as he reached his late teens and and and a match was arranged for Aobrey, his time as a ward came to an end.

Arriving back at Starfall at the age of eighteen, Olyvar participated in a tournament being held in honor of his brother’s recent wedding. Despite being a squire, he narrowly managed to win the final melee and joust (along with the admiration of the crowd and ire of his father) against far more experienced opponents, he received word that his grandfather had taken ill and sent for him. Visiting the elderly warrior and his longtime mentor, Olyvar was shocked when Ulrick ordered him to kneel before rising -- albeit with difficulty -- in order to knight him with Dawn itself. He passed away hours later.

Quite unwelcome at home, Olyvar spent the next three years wandering Westeros as a hedge knight: participating in tournaments and making a living on the prize money. However, he soon tired of “playing at war”. Despite the many warnings his mentors had given him over the years about being too eager to embrace battle firsthand, Oly traveled across the Narrow Sea to Essos where he briefly spent time as a combatant in the Fighting Pits of Meereen. Despite his success as a pit-fighter and the wealth he accrued in the brief time in Mereen, Dayne became quickly disillusioned with the bloody spectacle and the slaves used to fuel it. The remainder of his time spent in Essos was spent riding the Second Sons as a sellsword campaigning in the Disputed Lands.

However, after years away from Westeros, a raven eventually found him with -- of all things -- a wedding invitation. Olyvar returned to Dorne in order to attend Aobrey Martell’s marriage to Carden Yronwood. While there, he and Aobrey reconnected (in more ways than one), despite his better judgement. He elected to remain in Dorne (and close to Aobrey), finding work as a hedge knight to support himself.

Upon hearing of the attack on the Martells, Olyvar raced to Sunspear and to the aid of his oldest friend. He did everything in his power to console her and assist in her recovery before taking a knee and offering her his sword, pledging himself to her as her sworn shield. Over the course of the next two years, the pair of them could only rely on one another as they tracked down leads on the brutal attack. Their persistence paid off as they were successful in hunting down every last one of the men and women responsible for the plot, personally exacting Aobrey’s brutal revenge. Olyvar served as her bodyguard, assassin, and executor during the campaign -- never once questioning their course.

Olyvar was invited by his lover back to Sunspear, where she named him Captain of the Martell Household Guard. He continues to serve her faithfully, keeping her counsel and watching out for any that would do her harm as tensions continue to rise throughout the Seven Kingdoms.

Other:
-- Olyvar owns a sand steed courser named Dawnchaser (though in practice she answers to “Dawn” or “Chaser”), given to him as a gift by Erock Martell. The mare is exceptionally large and well-muscled for a sand steed, though still boasts its breed’s remarkable endurance. It has an inky, dark blue roan coat with a white spot atop the forehead.

-- Olyvar rarely goes anywhere without his castle-forged steel longsword and dagger on his person. However, when he knows he knows he is going into combat he typically opts to additionally carry a halberd, crossbow, or (when on horseback) lance.

History

Born into a noble and considered a prodigy from a young age, Nymerion grew to have narcissistic tendencies along with a high amount of confidence. Drilling himself daily from childhood to be perfect in every way, accepting nothing less than perfection from himself. If he defeated the master-at-arms or proved to have more knowledge that a scholar, he demanded someone stronger, someone more knowledgeable. He believed in the divine right to rule, that houses and those who led them would have the right to rule if they were powerful enough, something he strived to prove everyday of his young life.

When proving himself as a better than others, he often did it in a grandiose way, such as defeating his cousin in a sparring match, never losing his weapon. He then showed his grandfather the back up weapons he held, concealed. Showing his talent to plan and scheme for multiple scenarios.

What Nymerion would fail to realize, for his smart mind, that this put his uncle on edge. Fearing that Nymerion would make a move to usurp control of the family from him, his Uncle orchestrated the death of his grandfather. His mother, fearing what would come next explained Nymerions heritage to him through his fathers blood-line. After explaining that his father was dead. Shortly after this his mother died to the same “illness” that took his grandsire. Nymerion then pieced it together. Deciding to leave to fight another day he left Volantis, but not before stealing the ancestral sword his family owned.

Nymerion, from ages 15 to 23 would work his way from a lone paid sellsword to leader of a company to a member of a guild of assassins. His travels took him all over Essos, where he attained a reputation for himself. Always working to his end goal, he planned to get enough coin to kill his uncle and cousin to take control of the family estates, his uncles greatest fear.

With war brewing, he found himself travelling to Dorne when this was happening.. Taking the coin and signing the contract, he explained he would sail for the southern kingdom of Dorne. He would “hide there until he received orders”. In fact he was curious to see and meet his half-sister. He would see if she had what it took to rule the kingdom, in his own mind he could not fathom her not being strong enough to do so.

He is currently in the possession of an ancestral sword

He is trained in the use of multiple weapons including

  • Spear
  • Axe

Character done!
TigerKing_Joe-Exotic.jpg

full name: Donnel Manderly
titles/nicknames: Lord of White Harbor, Hornless Goat
Age: 43
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
House: Manderly
role (if applicable): Lord of House Manderly, Lord of White Harbor
Height: 5'11"
Build: Muscular, though getting pudgy
eye color: Hazel
Skin Tone: Disproportionately tan. Pale chest/legs and tanned face/arms.
Predominate Features: Lord Donnel's well groomed mustache is chief among his features, sprinkled with blond hairs and brown with the hiding grey at the furthest edges. Darker patches of skin on his left shoulder, a series of birth marks and a mole, are typically well hidden by whatever tunic Lord Donnel wears. His eyes are wrinkled beyond their years from a youth of indiscretion that has finally caught up with Manderly and his nose has a scar outlining its bridge from when it was broken when venturing the South as a young adult.
hair: Brown/Blond
Hair Style: Lord Donnel opts to keep it lengthy in the back while trimming the front. He is known for applying generous amounts of slickness via oil and grease over his hair to keep the natural curls maintained.
Voice: A somewhat nasally voice that fits within the normal parameters of the Northern accent, Donnel's calls carry far despite his body size.
physical disabilities: The beginnings of arthritis in his right knee, making certain days a real pain to move around quickly. It is not crippling but during the cold months it causes an enormity of irritation from the Northern Lord.

Personality: Donnel Manderly is a braggadocios man who takes great pride in little accomplishments and finds the constant need to impress those around him. To Donnel, nothing is better than hearing the praise from those he respects — chief among them being the other Northern Lords and his friends in those ranks. Wealth or time is no penalty when it comes to these ventures, and whenever they end up yielding lesser reactions, Manderly will fall into a foul mood. He will suffer through the let down and later show these frustrations in private. Rarely will he take physical action on any of his servants and never his family. However furniture is not safe from his wrath, as he is known to collapse chairs in his bouts of humifaction fueled anger. Still, Donnel's one who lives to soak up the praise of others.
Good Traits: Generous, considerate, Friendly, Fair, Enthusiastic
Negative Traits: Prideful, Shallow, Vain, Emotional, Scornful
Usual mood:Amicable, if not inspired. Often times Donnel will have some idea or ambition in his mind he attempts to get others to agree is good.
Greatest joy: Whenever he can sit with the other lords and feel like an equal, rather than living with his persistent inferiority complex. This comes whenever he holds feasts or joins them in insulting the Southerners.
Greatest fear:Being left behind, deserted, or left out. The idea causes great anxiety in Donnel.
Greatest Memory: The day he became Lord of White Harbor. He was a young man and the 3rd son of the family, yet still ascended to claim such a title. His father had been fighting illnesses for half a year and losing and chose Donnel. His eldest brother, crippled severely from a horse riding injury two years earlier, was passed up. The middle sibling likewise was ineligible, having been sent to the Wall for deflowering a maiden (the accusation of rape was thrown around). Donnel was picked as the heir and couldn't of been happier.

Worst memory: The day his best friend died. Donnel had a childhood friend, a house hand and second cousin to Donnel himself. Rickard the son of Smith and Donnel had spent the bulk of their childhoods learning together. Rickard was intended to be the personal attendant, however unofficial that may be, for Donnel. They learned how to fight together, hunt together, and Rickard was there as Donnel discovered what it meant to dull out justice as his father labeled it. They likewise bedded women for the first time the very same night. So, for Donnel, he showered his friend in affection and made sure he would want for nothing. Rickard reciprocated this friendship. However, there was little Donnel could do when birthing complications sprouted with Rickard's wife. Despite even having his maester aid the woman, she died. The baby was never delivered, and Rickard fell into a deep depression. Donnel couldn't shake his friend from that. For months, he tried. They grew angry with each other and Donnel's lips slipped. He said that a miserable man such as Rickard was better off joining his family and fumed off. Rickard, who had considered the outcome, took up the offer. When Donnel found out, he was personally devastated and grieved for Rickard for two moons. He still walks the same avenues that they both did as boys and finds an aching in his heart, wishing to take his words back and drag his friend back to his side.

Motivation: A man who wants to be greater is one who always eyes the people with more. Donnel has a greedy streak, though it does not entirely consist of desires for land or wealth. But fame and great praise lingers in his overactive imagination. Donnel wants to chase opportunity while he's still a man and not quite an oldbeard.

rebellion or targaryen?: Rebellion, however Donnel is a man who may entertain... Offers.

Mother: Lady Bethany Manderly Nee Bolton
Father: Lord "Big" Eddard Manderly
Siblings: Eddard Manderly (Oldest brother — 52), Emmon Manderly (Older brother — 47), Palla Karstark nee Manderly (younger sister — 38)
Spouse: Katrina Umber
Children: Rodrik Manderly (Oldest Son — 18), Lyessa Manderly (Daughter — 15), Torren Manderly (Youngest son — 9)

History: Born the third son of the union of Houses Manderly and Bolton, Donnel Manderly was never subject to the constant scrutiny and expectations of his siblings. For even Emmon Manderly — the second son of the family — had certain pressures placed upon him. Donnel lived a carefree childhood with a distant family member, Rickard the son of the Smith. This also caused there to be a lapse in Donnel's formal education. He need not waste hours perfecting his writing or reading, when he likely will end up as a familial knight and guard of House Manderly. A man of importance in White Harbor, but with little purpose outside of it. The relative littleness of his destiny did little to please Donnel. Especially as he grew. Whenever guests came by to make use of the port, it was never Donnel they wished to see. He was passed upon, a quick glance of curiosity before his siblings or even younger sister were given attention. Rickard, close confident of Donnel, heard this endlessly. However, fate ever shifted in favor of the third and forgotten son. Emmon Manderly, four years Donnel's senior, had dishonored himself and House Manderly. Emmon deflowered a Dustin girl set for marriage in a few years. Replacing the suitor was the least Emmon Manderly could do, but a fixed price for the Dustin girl's maiden head was demanded of him as well.

For the would-be husband had nothing but ill intent for the second son of the Mermaid. Emmon, fearful of consequences from the angered Houses, fled North. Rumors had it that Emmon joined the Night's Watch, though the Night's Watch has stated they never heard of Emmon Manderly joining their ranks. When Donnel became sixteen, his world further shifted. Eddard Manderly, the eldest son of House Manderly and heir apparent, was overtaken by tragedy. He had been galivanting off with friends on horse back when the horse was startled. Ejected from its back, Eddard broke his leg. The injury festered with infection and the maesters barely saved his life.

They managed to vanquish the infection without removing the leg, to Eddard's delight. However, his ability to walk had been diminished. Eddard stumbled around, feeling great agony whenever forced to match a half-quick pace. Travelling atop a horse made Eddard scream out in pain. Recover was slow, if not impossible, and Lord Manderly was forced to make a tough decision. Ill in bed, Lord Manderly named his youngest son as his heir. At the age of 18, Donnel had been gifted divine fortune. He looked after his elder brother, who stewed in his chambers and drank copiously. Both to numb the pain in his leg and shame that overtook him. Big Eddard, their father, would wrestle with illness for another nine years before passing away. At the age of 27, Donnel was named Lord of White Harbor and pledged his loyalties to House Stark.

Tragedy came and went throughout Donnel's life. Shortly after his ascension, Rickard the son of the Smith dipped into despair with the death of a wife and child (See Worst Memory for more). Donnel had been married to Katrina Umber for several years now, having a son before becoming Lord and a daughter soon after. Katrina and Donnel's marriage is one of constant give and take. Donnel adores Katrina's spitfire attitude, but loathes her criticisms of his person. Likewise, Katrina is fond of Donnel's ambition but cannot tolerate the man's weak knees and eagerness to please others. They had fought badly over the years, almost entirely over Donnel's usage of their treasury for what she called "pointless gathers of drunkards." Donnel, over the years, has kindled deep friendships with other Lords of the North. Lord Glover was fostered at White Harbor when Manderly was growing into his mature years. Endlessly picking on the young Lord Glover, nearly six years his younger, Donnel grew to see Glover as his only little brother. A special relationship, where he tried to offer (mostly ill) advice to the young man blossomed.

Lord Karstark, who would go on to marry Palla Manderly, is another close friend to Donnel. Meeting him some twenty five years ago, Donnel found Karstark to be a bore of a man and awfully stubborn. But, through Glover's relationship with both of them, Donnel and Karstark grew fond of each other, mostly through ale at first. Donnel can not help but feel insecure when placed next to Karstark. The man holds a strong conviction in all matters and is admirable for that alone. Meanwhile, Donnel feels as fickle as can be, cowardly at times when pressured by a lord greater than he. Though, Donnel aspires to match Karstark's stature. Manderly has ventured South on many occasions, enjoying the jousting knights and the spectacles that are held in the heart of Spring and early bloom of Summer. The colors and pageantry speaks to Manderly's soul, compared to the grim and sometimes sterile North. On one trip South, Manderly had come to blows with a Reach Lord's son. It ended poorly for Manderly, with Donnel breaking his nose and needing to make arrangements for a journey back North posthaste

History
Although the Arryn lineage normally take pride in their seat of the Eyrie, the young Dovan never understood the appeal. He spent a great portion of his youth within the castle’s perimeter, all the while hearing tales of the larger, lavish castles the other Great Houses of the realm resided in. As a child, the Eyrie’s strategic value was completely lost on him. Nevertheless, it remained his home and a safe space for the young lord.

It eventually came time for the heir to socialize with those outside the castle. Though he was diligent in his studies and attentive in his teachings, Dovan had yet to experience much of the world for himself. His first extended trip would be a visit to Heart’s Home in the company of his father and an entourage of the Vale’s finest knights. At the onset of the journey, the heir looked forward to whatever was beyond the familiar mountain range. Yet not long after the group’s departure, the party was stopped by one of the many mountain clans residing in the foothills. After catching sight of the Arryn banner and members, the tribe’s warriors decided to press their luck with the element of surprise. However, the attempted attack was quickly quelled by the knights' superior training. Still, the damage was done. For the remainder of the trip, the young Arryn grappled with the threat and existence of the barbaric strangers that sought to kill him so readily.

The single confrontation was enough to motivate the young lord’s thorough training with the knights. In time, he became a commendable fighter in his own right. When he came of age, he joined the knights in their sweeps across the mountains in search of lingering clans. Brutal and relentless in his bouts against the clansmen, the Arryn amassed a reputation among both Valemen and the hill tribes for his eagerness to draw wildling blood at questionable cost.

At the peak of these crusades, Lord Corrad Arryn’s health started declining. The House’s aides feared the worst and the heir was poised to take over his father’s duties. A marriage was soon arranged between Dovan and Anira Waynwood of Ironoaks. Mere days after the wedding, Lord Corrad died and Dovan was expedited as the new lord.

Though the circumstances were abrupt, the newlyweds found time to develop a genuine love for one another. Alas, the relationship was tested when it came time to bring new heirs to the Vale. Suffering from two stillborn children within the span of fifteen months, pressure mounted on the family. While Anira was advised to rest in anticipation for her third child, Dovan relieved stress in the way he knew best—taking it out on the mountain clans. In an unprecedented period of extermination, the new lord ordered attacks against some of the Vale’s most organized and formidable clans. By the time Anira successfully gave birth to their son, the Eyrie's medicinal personnel and supply were deplenished by the campaign.

Lady Anira fell ill after childbirth, and Dovan sought to bring in resources from the port of Gulltown. The mountain clans, plotting revenge against the lord, caught whispers from the Eyrie. The tribes mobilized and ambushed carriages en route to the castle, cutting off access to the port. Though their ranks were effortlessly defeated by the knights, the delay caused by their actions was enough to incur serious losses. Anira succumbed a little over a week after giving birth, her health having deteriorated far too quickly. Dovan mourned the loss of another family member, retreating from the battlefield to instead spend time raising and nurturing his son for a brief moment in time. After the dust settled, he emerged with a renewed hatred for the clans of the mountains. Even after his lordship and assuming a new set of responsibilities, he took every opportunity he could to bring justice to the savages of the Vale.

Other:
- Rides on Valor, a gray-white stallion gifted to him many years ago.
- Dubbed by the mountain tribes as “The Starved Falcon” for his boundless appetite in killing clansmen.
- Often spares the lives of prominent clansmen in battle, instead choosing to capture and execute them personally from the Eyrie.
- Once bonded with his wife over their shared love for sister’s stew. Ever since she passed, he finds the sight, smell, and taste of the dish difficult to stomach.

History:

His early years were spent under the shadow of his father, constantly being pushed to better himself in one way or another. Leaving little time to pursue much else. Growing up rather isolated within Karhold, Karstark has only had a few people that he considers to be true friends:

First among which is Garris Glover, his younger cousin who would often come visit them in Karhold, and who he would later on visit in White Harbor. In addition to sharing blood, a shared passion for hunting from a young age had laid the grounds for their life long friendship.

And second, Donnel Manderly, whom he has been friends with for quarter of a century, at first Galbart thought little of Donnel who he judged to be of poor character, more befit to be a court jester for a petty Southron Lord rather than a proper noble himself. However a common liking of ale and Garris' influence, despite his shortcomings and unbecoming behaviour Galbart would come to see that Manderly was a ‘man of good intent’ and a true friend. Especially after Donnel helped him in courting his sister.

And third of course, a tankard full of the finest ale that the North can offer. One can’t find a better chaperone.

Not long after the death of his lady mother when he was 17, his father Donnor would declare his intention to take the black on a whim, unexpectedly Galbart would find himself as the Lord of Karhold and head of House Karstark.

Galbart participated in the conflict against the Wildling Horde that had come down to raid the Gift, personally leading the famous Karstark Riders he charged from the flank alongside Manderly’s Knights. Claiming victory for the Northern Host by the end of the day. Karstark would take the slain Warlord’s Bronze Sword and Warhorn as prizes of war and after the battle. It’s an event he likes to brag about to this day.

Around five years ago, A hunting accident would leave Karstark’s left leg severely crippled. Ever since this crippling injury he has had to spend more time confined to Karhold, unable to participate in the extensive hunting trips. deeply upsetting Karstark’s already sour mood.
