Whiskered Wizard

"Now who are these ones? Lamb to the slaughter, or predators yet to awaken?"

Characters in the rp will have a little or perhaps a lot of history with each other, as some of the last living humans in the world. As such, sharing what you believe is important with other participants is crucial! For now though, we start with the basics.
  • Name
  • Gender
  • Age
  • Art of your character (unless you'd prefer to keep it to words)
  • Brief descriptions of character (Whatever you want someone to notice in the first few moments of interacting with them)
  • History (This is genuinely up to you! If you'd prefer to keep your characters story to themselves and have it revealed during the rp, then you may very well do so.)
  • Ties to Power (This is where your character can get interesting. The war has gone on for long enough that interaction between the realms is very likely. Though you represent humanity, your blood may have bits of angel or demon within... perhaps something else entirely. If you'd prefer to rise into legend as a human without blood ties, then I encourage you to do so.)

Brief descriptions of character

I think everyone wants to believe they’ll maintain some piece of themselves through all of this, they’ll say: ’I’m still me’…but that’s a lie too often told when we catch a glimpse of our own reflection, desperately searching for the past in our own eyes.” Whatever Lorne was before, she knows she’s not the same. To be human and still exist is a curse after all these years. Still, though she is without much hope and barely more than a vessel of survival at this point, Lorne remains determined—as something else drives her desire to keep being human; to remain alive. There’s something lurking beyond simple existence.

History
Lorne was a kid when it all started, barely able to hold her own. Her father was a survivalist, paranoic— almost on the edge of his seat waiting for destruction—but Lorne owes her life to that. In the beginning it was her, her father, and mother. Her mother committed suicide early on, unable to cope with the harsh realities of their new world. Her father carried on for a few years after that, getting himself and his daughter by through bartering with angels and demons alike. It wasn’t until her father met a demon named Vaerin that he would meet his downfall. Her father ran out of resources, befriended a coy demon with what felt like direct ties to the devil himself… and with the devil, there is never give without take. Her father molded into something awful to survive, and to hold on a little longer, in his last moments of desperation, offered Lorne up as his last bargaining chip for life. Rather than be sacrificed or angels only know what else, she murdered him, never needing to do so until that point, dodged Vaerin’s attempt at capture as he considered the deal was made regardless of her father’s life lost… and ran. She may be a fugitive from the demon at this point. Who knows. Who cares. All she can do it fight to survive.

Ties to Power
Before Lorne escaped that above mentioned nasty fate, she snagged an amulet off Vaerin. So far, despite her not knowing what it does in the slightest, she feels like it’s playing a heavy role in keeping her safe and mostly, unbothered. Blood luck, maybe?

Name:Ike Mikasa

Gender:Male

Age:24 years old

character looks:
987be22d70473e76d3fdd0ceeb4a.jpeg
Brief descriptions of character:
Ike chews his fingernails daily and has a spaced-out look to him, and, some people might say this describes him. He usually answers people with generic answers or shrugs, if he has to talk at all. His approach to life is this: "We don't much like each other, but everybody knows that if we just hold our noses and keep our mouths shut, we'll eventually get what we want." He's not a talker and not a listener.

Skills:
1)very good with numbers/math (even in university, where a lot of other subjects suffered, that was his highest grade).
2)Can tell how fresh a food product is with 60% accuracy
3)Master of Sudokus, Crosswords and Logic Puzzles

History:
Ike was born to parents who valued good grades above all else, and he has an older brother who has a six-year age gap with him. Ike always felt inferior to his brother, back when he actually cared. Ike maintained his high grades no matter what and was a workaholic so he could surpass his brother. He still didn't like talking and was very stoic. Ike didn't really have close friends as a result, nor was he very close to his family. He did have some empathy, even when the war started when he was 9 years old. Ike had a childhood filled with lots of tutoring classes so that he could maintain his grades, and he never really had a childhood.

Ike was homeschooled by his parents while they were wandering around the country and trying not to die. He had seen a lot of death, from a few civilians, even though he didn't know how they died and he got freaked out. On top of that, a lot of the pressure from trying to catch up on his brother's brains got to him(his parents still pressured him during a war. Yes, his parents were extreme like that!) and he began to slack off when his parents kept on comparing him to his older brother. He was annoyed at this point, and as almost a move of spite, Ike began to slack off. On top of that, he saw more dead bodies in the street and that just made him off worse. He felt hopeless, due to the death of everyone, and his inferiority over his brother, to the point where he ditched his family and just shut down emotionally to the point where he didn't care anymore. His family actually cut contact with him and as a result, years later, Ike has no idea whether his family is alive or dead, and this made him even more apathetic.

Ike continued to wander, without his family, as time passed and continued to bunk down in multiple grocery stores, leading him to learn which products were fresh and other arts of bunking down in a grocery store, often taking clothes based on size alone. He didn't see anyone else on the roads he was traveling, so he is isolated and has gone a bit mad from it. He thinks that he's the only person alive(any person/being he does see,Ike thinks they're a hallucination) and that causes problems, and he does tasks, and then repeats them because that's what he's used to. He's been living at one specific grocery store for a few months now, and takes food from the storeroom first, which is why the shelves are all full. On top of that, Ike didn't really eat much, so the food was eaten much more slowly.

Personality:
VICES: Likes to put in the least amount of effort possible, while still doing a good enough effort at his job. Doesn't really care about much of anything, and is a bit apathetic. Gives generic answers and can be quite unhelpful.
VIRTUES: Hard to surprise him or shake him up, or even get much of a reaction. Minds his own business and doesn't ask questions unless he needs to.
LIKES: Likes children slightly better than adults because children don't pay attention. Solving puzzles or math equations. Likes to put in the least amount of effort possible. Just wants to be left alone.
DISLIKES: not much, but he hates blood(he has a huge fear of blood, and it's genetic). He dislikes people who try to make his life very difficult( such as racists or managers who think they're better than everyone else, but this is more annoying than angering for him).

Ties to Power: He's dead neutral on the war, and he has average fighting and survival skills, plus he has apathy going on for him. He's pretty sure he's normal, but he vaguely wonders how he hasn't died yet. It's probably luck, but he's not totally sure.

Name: Adam
Nicknames:
Gender:
Male
Age: 18
Height: 5’2
Hair colour: Black
Eye colour: Blue

Personality: Hardened and a little morose at times, as can only be expected. Despite this, Adam is kind, caring, and sometimes a bit of a joker, but he knows when it’s time to be serious and mature.

In a previous group, a younger Adam was subjected to ridicule and abuse for being weak, slow and unable to fight. Seen as surplus to requirement, he found himself abandoned one morning which really hit him hard.

For that reason Adam goes well out of his way to prove his worth, even offering to do the most mundane chores and tasks because he’s afraid of anything like that happening again.

Background: Adam was only three when the apocalypse hit. He has no memory of what life was like before all the slaughter and destruction. No idea if he had family, or where he originally came from. He’s passed from group to group and even survived being alone for a time, before he eventually found the others.

Adam has had more than his fair share of starvation, rejection, abandonment, abuse and loss, but he‘s young and resilient - raised to be a survivor.

Abilities: tbc
Skills: Quick on his feet. Good at climbing and squeezing into small spaces. Good basic survival skills.
Weapons: Adam carries a hunting knife, but won’t usually engage in combat unless he has no choice or someone in the group needs help.
Weaknesses: Short and on the skinny side from too many missed meals. Pretty much illiterate. Suffers from insomnia.

Likes: Hearing stories about the world before. Collecting old world trinkets and junk. Food (Anything). Books - especially ones with pictures. Animals, if they don’t look like they might eat him. Being helpful.
Dislikes: The dark. Angels and Demons. Rain.
Fears: Loosing everyone, being alone/abandoned, strangers, Angels & Demons, The changed ones.

BIRTH NAME: Valentina Semenov
LEGAL NAME: Irene Harris
GENDER: Female
AGE: 32 (thinks she’s 35)
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Will add once done with classes.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Almost certainly the mom of the group, Irene tries to do what’s right. She can come off a bit bossy, and a bit cold, but only wants the best for others. Inside of her is this fighting spirit, almost manifesting as a sort of voice in the back of her mind, that tells her to fight her way back to any battle, back to the war. While she tries to resist, Irene knows she has to do what’s right. Over the course of regaining her memories, this voice becomes stronger, and she eventually wonders as to whether she should leave the group (spoiler alert: probs not). She should come off as a battle-hardened person, strong and imposing.

PERSONALITY: A hardened military veteran, both with the mundane and supernatural, Irene is a no-nonsense mom-type figure. She is a bit bossy, and ALMOST CERTAINLY opinionated, but just wants to be a leader. She can be a bit aggressive at times, but means well in the end.

HISTORY: Irene Harris, born Valentina Semenov, was born in Moscow, USSR. Her early childhood was plagued by normalcy, her mother being a normal typical blonde housewife, and her father being a Russian oligarch. As a result, she was often ostracized by her classmates, and spent most of her days homeschooled by nannies. While she had a bit of a temper, she loved to fight. Valentina, or Val as she was known, was a fiery young woman, rejecting all of the stereotypical things a woman in the Soviet Union, and later Russia, was expected to do.

When she was 12, her father was arrested for a FRICK ton of charges that I won’t elaborate on, causing Val and her mother to move into an apartment. She had to go to normal school, and suffered heavy bullying. When she was 14, her father was released, and they moved back into their luxurious mansion. Finally back to normalcy, Val’s next few years were stereotypical. However, after receiving a full ride to West Point in the US, having applied without her parents’ knowledge, Val was able to receive a fake ID and passport from an old connection of hers, before heading to the US at the age of 17.

On her 18th birthday…she was officially enrolled in West Point. She trained for 2 years, becoming close with most of the other cadets, until on her 20th birthday…the apocalypse occurred. Armed with only her training and a few weapons, Val, now Irene, hid out in hiding for a few years, picking up a set of angelic armor and a sword on the way, before joining the fight at 23.

Irene quickly became well-known, almost infamous, for her skill and ability in fighting against the demons, which several angels took notice of. She was swift, she was strong, but her wits were her real weapon. She kept up this pattern for several years, to the point where even mentioning her name would strike fear in the lower and middle ranked demons, earning the title of “Slayer of the Infernal”. She was blessed by one of the angels on the front lines, and because I’m a horrible namer, we’ll call him Azrael (no relation to the biblical Azrael), with an indomitable fighting spirit and danger sense. This was extremely helpful to her survival, except…However… after getting ambushed suddenly, Irene was killed at the age of 32, except one angel, we’ll name her Jophiel for now (with no relation/comparison to the biblical Jophiel), saw her, and sent her to the Angel of Return.

Said Angel revived her, with her sword and armor by her side, hoping to see her in the fight once she was well enough again. However, due to the amount of trauma she’d endured, Irene’s brain suppressed all memories of her early childhood and most of her life, up to her getting killed by the demons and later revived. As a result…she’s an amnesiac “mom” with a sword and armor, who thinks she’s 3 years older than she actually is.

TIES TO POWER: Irene is strictly on the side of the angels, and humanity as a result. She’s semi-familiar with most of the angels, but wouldn’t necessarily consider them her “friends” by any sense of the word. She was blessed by the angel Azrael, and brought back to life by the Angel of Return, for her work as a strong ally and her heroics. On the other hand…Hell DESPISES her, for good reason.

Hi, Just thought I'd point out a couple of things about the USSR: 1: They did not have Oligarchs. 2: They Had much better rights for women and even though there was still a gender gap there, due to Communism, the stereotypes would be less 'Women can do less than men can' (When in reality they can do just as much as any man) and more 'Women are Equal to men in every way and the government thinks so too' (When in Reality they were discriminated on not much less than any other system). In Russia though, it wouldn't have been that way. So it depends on what time period you mean specifically. Don't take this as an insult to the character, overall I think it's great but just thought I'd mention this :)

1. She was born right after the USSR collapse, maybe a year or two at most. Just realized that. Russia does have oligarchs. USSR did not.
2. I never implied anything. The house wife thing is an inside IRL joke that me and my friends do. I get what you’re saying though,

(DM NPCs)

Name: Delvin "Dell" Trace

Gender: Male

Age: 46 years old

Char 1.jpg

Char 1 portrait.jpg

Brief description of character:

Delvin is a sturdy fellow, standing at 6'1" tall. He usually spends day after day in his equipment, wary of the dangers of the world these days. His gear is a mix of old war English equipment with a bit of a personal touch to it. With plenty of scrap available with the war going on, he was able to make a suit of modern armor. He painted over white crosses on the armor days after he was finished making his gear. While he knows nothing about medical practices, his crosses express his desire to help folk that need it. Perhaps that's why he eventually found the group he's apart of now.

Quick to throw himself into danger in the defense of others, he's practically a living shield, always too willing to place himself between a demon and those he chooses to protect. It's earned him a few notches on the old belt and a demon tooth or two, but he tries not to do anything too crazy as he has to be a figure for his daughter to look up to. When it comes to her, he only wants her to follow in his footsteps. To eventually do great things. Because he travels with his child, he is always looking for kind folk to walk beside. Friends that can offer a place for his child should his bullheaded nature ever have him meet his end.

History:

Delvin was no one real special before the war, nor would he consider himself very special after it began. He spent a lot of his life working with metal. He considered himself something of an artist, using a lot of spare parts and colored glass to create works of art special to him. Even if no one else found his work valuable, he believed it to be valuable. He was still doing this work until the end war began. Having been settled in England, Dell could still remember seeing the angels flying overhead. While some watched with amazement, he knew only horror. Why was this happening? This was the first question he asked himself. However, what he noticed first about the angels was that they were armed.

If the winged ones were armed to the teeth, ready for something horrible, then he should be too, right? He remembered taking a visit to an older war museum near his town. It didn't take long for the demons to start to march against the angels even there, so many people had already left, leaving him to walk right in and take what he wanted. He didn't know how to use a lot of the weapons in the museum and plenty of them have been made near useless, for display only. After taking some equipment and a bit of scrap metal, he fashioned his equipment which he still wears to the present day.

Wasn't too long after that he fought his first demon. It wasn't anything special, but even the smallest of these hellish creatures can prove the most dangerous if one was not careful. An angel, fallen in battle, and their blade stuck in the concrete of the street was nearby, and Dell took not time at all to take it. The demon was half his size, but it clawed at the ground and moved at rapid speeds. Dell swung the blade many times, but never hit. He didn't know how to fight with a sword. The demon on the other hand cut and slashed at his gear over and over, finding little purchase aside from drawing blood here and there. Then, in a moment of truth, Dell slices through the creature, earning his victory. Needless to say, he worked hard to learn how to use a sword from then on.

Over time during the end war, he aided many human compounds and orders of survivors that each persist with their own purpose, but these groups seem to fade with time. The more humans that are together, the more likely they are to be sniffed out by hell spawn. It is smarter to travel in small groups, but for some time, Delvin travelled alone. It was after this time that he returned to the world, but this time with a child. When the child was an infant, he managed to join a new group. A group of folk with different strengths. Though he was always friendly with them, he always kept his daughter as away from others as possible. He is a wonderful father, but some would almost consider him a bit too protective of the child.

Ties to power:

None. Delvin has no special blood, blessings, demonic essence or anything of the sort. He is completely human, nearly unchanged by the world. However, he is certainly stronger than most. He fills his armor quite well with muscle and his own strength. Perhaps years of exposure to the war will do that to some. The only otherworldly benefit he has by far is the sword he keeps with him, hidden under his cloak. A weapon looted from a fallen angel, its metal hums with the energy of heaven, but otherwise has no other function except to cut and slice through flesh.

Name: Miranda Trace

Gender: Female

Age: 4 years old

Char 2.jpg

Brief description of character:

Miranda is a small girl with raven black hair and pale skin. She is pretty quiet for the most part. Perhaps she just does not like speaking much. She always seems to have a large military helmet on, a bit too big for her head, but her father always seems to have her keep it on, pushing it low over her face on occasion when it shifts out of place. She never looks people in the eye, keeping the collar of her cloak up and her helmet over her eyes more often than not. The only one that she seems to actually look in the eyes is her father. When someone tries to force eye contact with the girl, they'll usually find her large armored father in the way, so no one can ever really get a truly good look at the girl.

History:

When Dell appeared suddenly with a child in his arms, it was a surprise to those still living that knew the man. He never did seem the type to care much for kids, but time only seemed to cause his rough exterior to fade away. As he travelled, the child was often kept in a swaddle strap against his chest as he traversed the lands. Present day though, Miranda has grown quite a bit. She can walk on her own, she can do all her father taught her to do, like read and write. Though she can only really do these things when they find paper or chalk.

Dell is very protective of his daughter, taking care of her and trying to give her all the joys of life that he possibly can. He wanted her to live as a child would before the war, not having to worry about creatures that stalk the world and hunger for their next unaware meal. When they joined the new group of survivors, Dell seemed to relax with his overprotective ways, letting his daughter interact with some with the people of the group, but he would still always be cautious.

Despite being a bit eerie for a child, Miranda is quite eager to interact with people. She spends a lot of time reading little books that her father finds for her among the ruins of the old world. In most cases she is a completely normal child. Perhaps the one oddity about her is that she is usually very calm in the face of danger.

Ties to power:

This one is difficult to find out, for Dell often keeps information about Miranda very private. When it comes to the girls mother, Dell has nothing to say about that either other than the fact that she is not with them currently. He never seems to imply that the woman is dead, but some may think that is the case. Nonetheless, Miranda has special blood flowing through her veins. This is often noticed when there are angels present. Some will stare at the girl. Others will seem to tense up. When it comes to demons, the less powerful creatures may hesitate a bit when around the child, but the feistier demons will tend to get excited.

Personality - Una has always been a curious individual. She loves to find new and cool things, especially if they’re from before the war. However, the life in a war-torn world has turned her yearning to find new things into an urge to take anything she pleases. Despite her kleptomania, she tries her hardest to make friends anyone who doesn’t try to immediately murder her. She believes that relationships are something to be treasured, as one can and likely will die at any moment.

Otherwise, Una is a relatively carefree individual despite all she’s experienced. Compared to most survivors, she’s quick to trust, and quicker to help. She doesn’t fear death, seeing it as an inevitable fate for everyone. While this make her seem brave or foolish to some, it’s also given her an eery disregard for life, and a numbness to violence. Piss her off, and you’ll no doubt receive the silent treatment.

History - War is all Una has ever known. Her parents died when she was a child, leaving her in the care of a group of survivors. They were a smart and resourceful bunch, but nothing ever went well for them. Year after year, their numbers dwindled. No matter where they ran or hid, demons would find them. The angels normally passed them by, but had no qualms about killing them if it meant furthering their own goals. By the time Una was 12, the group was down to 9 humans. She came to the realization that they were all going to get killed at some point. If it wasn’t and angel or demon, it’d be starvation or dehydration. That’s when Una stopped fearing death, and began to expect it. At the very least, however, she could try to help the people she cared about alive until her fateful day.
Una’s role in the group was to keep an eye out for useful objects during their travels. She’d rarely find anything worthwhile, but occasionally she’d find an old weapon from a fallen angel or demon, or better yet a can of food that hadn’t been destroyed after all these years. In her yearning to be useful, Una became almost obsessed with finding things, to the point where she eventually started spending entire days away from the group, filling her backpack with anything that could be remotely useful.

One morning, Una was out doing her usual scavenging when she came across a lone angel lying motionless in the rubble of a building. To Una, it looked dead. But at its feet rested a beautiful bow and arrow, made from a dark iron, and adorned with purple accents signifying its angelic origins. Una just couldn’t help herself, carefully approaching the angel. When she grabbed the bow, the angel sprung back to life, smacking Una to the ground. Una’s pained cry was more than enough to alert the rest of her group. They came to help, but were promptly slain by the angel. Una watched the entire thing, but didn’t move a muscle to help. Not that she could even if she wanted to. The last thing she saw before she fell unconscious, was the reaching out to her pleading.

“I’m sorry… I don’t want to die yet… Forgive me, child.”

Ties to Power - Khaliuna has an angel residing within her. Occasionally, she hears its faint mumblings, but nothing more than that. She knows little to nothing about what this means for her, besides the fact that she hates the angel more than anything else.
