Ayana laughed when Hubyr puckered his mouth, his unintentional humor was perfect. "You look like a fish when you do that," she sipped between giggles. "I think it's water mixed with lemon juice... mint leaves too," she bent forward and placed her cup on the ground. Then she turned towards Celestine, pushing her hair back as she spoke. "There's much I wish to do! The beach, exploring town, a nice restaurant and a bar to end the night. You're welcome to come along."

Ayana paused when Hubyr mentioned the competition, "Good idea, we need more people to beat," she looked over at Gwen, "It's not sparring tonight, we planned a drinking game. Leóne can join too if he's there." Her smile grew as waves brushed her legs. They were cool but comfortable, drawing her into the ocean until water reached her chest.

She traced her hand over the clear surface, grinning as she waded around, "It feels amazing!" But her smile faded when Gwen mention home. Her story sent a pang of homesickness through Ayana, but she wouldn't mope on such a nice day. Instead she leaned back and let the water envelope her, smiling as she sunk to the shallow bottom. The ocean filled her ears with a low rushing sound, small fish swam around her and sunlight filtered from above. It was so pleasant she lingered for a moment, but then a mischievous idea crossed her mind.

If everyone would get wet eventually, why not bring the water to them?

Ayana snickered below the waves, sending a few bubbles to the top as she condensed mana in her palms. From there she charged the water around her, creating three water balls that shot from the surface. They weren't fast enough to hurt, but they were large enough to thoroughly splash her friends.

Daisy nodded to the bartender.

"I appreciate the recommendation. I hope the crab has been cooked, so there's no danger of pinching." She said, smiling slightly, remembering that he couldn't see her smile, and then making a little laughing sound to indicate that she was joking. Then she sat back to wait for her food.

She shut her eyes, and let herself listen to her surroundings, enhanced by her ability to sense vibrations through the floor. The chatter of people, the sounds of a fire, food sizzling and glass clinking together. She felt her shoulders relax a little. She wanted to go somewhere completely quiet, she wanted to lock herself inside a library and read for the next few days. Lose herself in a book or twenty. She wouldn't need to make herself presentable, she didn't need to worry about her bandana, she didn't have to be a Rosenbloom, she could just be Daisy. But now wasn't the time for that, so she'd have to settle for the next best thing. Waiting quietly for what would, hopefully, be a delicious meal. And she had to admit it, after the dangerous silence of the dungeon in the last town, the low, calm sounds of other people was nice.

She opened her eyes when she felt a gait she recognized through the floor. She spotted Rose entering the bar, one of the sisters that had been trapped in the dungeon with her. She was dressed very prettily, showing a lot of skin. The Rosenblooms weren't strict about dress code outside of their work, but Daisy thought that was because no Rosenbloom would ever think to dress as casually as some of the people here did. Daisy herself was in the spare clothes she'd found in one of the shops, when she was scrounging for weapons. Her new bandanna was just a plain blue strip of cloth. Daisy watched as she joined Obsidian and Amalia. Should she join them? She'd already sat down over here. It would be awkward, she thought. But it would be awkward if she simply sat over here and ignored them, too. Why did social interaction need to be so difficult? There were too many Catch-22's.

But she was saved by the arrival of her food. A crab still mostly in the shell, a crab mallet brought with it and the wine. She'd never eaten crab like this before, and she made a bit too much noise figuring out how to use the mallet properly, which wasn't becoming of a Rosenbloom, but it was entertaining all the same. Not that there was anyone left to scold her.

She hesitated, as she moved to eat the crab. Usually she ate alone, or she put the food up and under her bandanna. But she... didn't want to deal with that today. Not after what had happened. Everyone had scars. There was no need to hide hers with as much vigor as she had been. So she pulled her bandanna off of her face, not looking at anyone lest she see a reaction she didn't like, and began to eat.

It was a little messy, she took a napkin and held it to her face as she chewed. Hiding her scars was one thing, but with a large portion of her lips and cheek missing, it was all too easy to for others to see her food being chewed to a pulp, and food sometimes escaped her mouth even if she was careful. She wouldn't subject anyone to watching that, not that anyone was really looking at her. She hoped.

When she was done, pleased she hadn't made too much of a mess, she took some time to savor the wine, keeping her head tilted backwards and to the left so nothing spilled back out from between her missing lips, or out of the loose stitches that held her left cheek together.

That done, she replaced her bandanna. That wasn't bad at all. She was getting better at adjusting. She'd figured out how to make 'p' and 'f' sounds while making sure nothing seemed amiss by pressing one side of her mouth shut hard enough that she skin met there, and with the other side making the usual sounds. It seemed she was getting the hang of eating, too. Perhaps it was just the extra pressure of eating in a public place that made her less messy.

Done, she nodded to the bartender, her eyes looking away from him, and said,

"I'll be moving to another table." She said, bowing slightly. "Thank you for the meal."

And then she stood up and went to Rose, Obsidian and Amalia.

"Good, ah, evening." Daisy said, sitting down in an empty chair. "Do you mind if I join you?" She realized she'd already taken a seat, and then stood back up. "Excuse me. Getting a little ahead of myself. My apologies." She felt herself getting flustered. Why? Why? Why? She'd had perfectly normal conversations with people during the crisis, perfectly normal conversations with people during funerals, she'd had perfectly normal, if brief, conversations with Rose! It was only now, when there was literally no reason to be flustered that she was flustered. She supposed she only knew how to be a Rosenbloom and a Funeral director, and no one else. She hesitated, and then sat down again. Be decisive. Like during a fight. Perhaps that's how she could think of social interactions? As a fight? That didn't sound right, but she had sat down for a second time now, and it would be even more awkward if she stood up again. So she was going to stay unless they told her otherwise.

Amalia Winters

When the stone elf took a seat next to her, Amalia felt her frame stiffen. She peered at the woman from the corner of her eye, watching as she enjoyed the drink that had been served and wondering whether the seating choice had been deliberate or just a coincidence. While a soldier, Amalia had been quite authoritative with interaction, and was not afraid to start conversations with familiar faces or even approach new people. Inhibitions took ahold ever since she had accepted herself though, leading to that changing. Even then, during this expedition she had never feared interacting with one of her companions, at least when she had her armor on. Without it, she felt much like this place's specialty: a blue crab without its shell.

In the midst of pondering the dilemma, her attention was taken by an interaction nearby among a familiar young man and a well-dressed woman. From what she had picked up, an attempt at conversation had gone wrong, and continued to devolve as insults were exchanged and names were called. The boy then stepped away, taking note of the two and making his way over. If anyone had the hypothesis that a third person would make this interaction easier for Amalia, unfortunately, they would be incorrect. Unlike Obsidian, who the knight wouldn't have said she was close to in the first place, Luka was only a few points above being a complete stranger. Still, Luka had decided to answer her dilemma for her and addressed the two.

"It's nice to meet you. My name is Amalia," she said, trying to sink into her shrouds like a turtle would withdraw into its shell. "The drinks are good. I recommend their special." Based off of his youthful appearance, she wondered if the man was even old enough to drink. A knight may have been honor-bound but she remembered the feelings of rebellious youth and wanting to grow up faster. She hesitated a moment before adding, "don't worry about the snobs. In fact, if you really want to get a reaction from them, the best way to do so is to remain calm and seem respectful while reminding of their shortcomings." She had been stationed to work for some rich and powerful people in her day, and an insult being underhanded could be the difference between employed and unemployed.

From beyond her veil, yet another familiar face caught her eye. It was somewhat surprising that so many of her companions would come to this nearby bar instead of exploring the rest of the resort, but it only seemed natural that some of their large crew would prefer to spend the first night here relaxing. She had been informed there were also some tables where patrons could gamble, so maybe it wasn't too far off from what the rest of the casino had to offer. This other companion, Daisy, hadn't seemed to notice them just yet though, and instead took a seat by herself. While Amalia mostly focused on the other two besides her, she couldn't help but glance over to see what the woman who sat farther away was doing. Seeing the bandana she used to cover her face as well as observing the meek presence she had made her feel less self-conscious about her own inhibitions.

Rose's quiet approach almost caught Amalia off-guard. She wasn't sure what was surprising though, that the older pirate sister joined them of her own accord, or that Jane wasn't with her. She glanced around, wondering if perhaps the younger had simply been distracted on the way. "Hello," she said, finding comfort in the familiarity she had with Rose, even if she was the more distant sibling. The eagerness was short lived though, as the realization that she was without her shell once again hit. "Er... is Jane here too?"

Right on cue, despite being the wrong person, Daisy then approached. The knight felt a small smile spread across her face as the woman asked if it was alright to join, took a seat before getting a response, stood up, and took a seat again. A chuckle almost escaped her lips, but she could empathize with the discomfort that the woman was feeling. "We'd love to have you join," Amalia said. Well, at least she would. She didn't fully know Daisy's circumstances, but no matter how different their beginnings were, she felt in a lot of ways they were similar now. Someone to relate to would certainly make these stressful situations easier.

Valentine was rather pleased by the compliment that Aedzel gave them. "Why thank you!" If they could, they would have spun and shown off more of their wonderful outfit (which, really, had depleted them of most of their hard-earned savings from their troupe days), but Aedzel had dragged them towards the entrance of the hotel. The smartly-dressed feline, whom Valentine learned was called Stone on their voyage here, was seemingly loitering, or perhaps waiting around.

Valentine beamed at the thought of another person joining their jaunt around town. "You'd be more than welcome to join us," they reaffirmed, bright smile still shining out of him. "There are plenty of things to do around here, it seems. Extravagent buildings, a town full of history...I think you'd rather enjoy it." A big group was always fun to be around, as Valentine had been part of for years, so their request for Stone to join them was genuine.

Yo Saiwa

Yo by Nona.jpgThe person behind the desk seemed to contemplate for a moment, almost like they were lost in thought, staring at the dragoness who was not-so-clad. Maybe they were trying to figure out what kind of Lizardfolk she was, but then they’d only be wrong.

We have a specialist, but they are currently busy with another client. May I instead lead you to our heated pool area to wait and enjoy the waters?

Yo nodded, “Yes, that would be fine. I saw some others in my group ahead of me so maybe they’re in there.

The person behind the desk had someone else lead Yo to the mixed hot tubs.

Quickly, she spotted Kiel, Pozou and Kuma nearby. Yo, almost not carefully enough, happily bounded her way to the water before slipping in without a moment to even stop and consider the temperature.

She slipped down to where the water’s surface was just below her lips as she sighed.

The heated waters tingled her skin and she felt like she could just melt. It also felt good against the bruise on her back and where the demon from Stone’s Throw had hit her.

Mmmmm, this feels soooo gooood.

It was then that she realized she forgot to actually greet them. Not wanting to sit up quite yet, she stayed where she was, “Hey guys. Did you see what services they all offer here? I was thinking of getting something done with my scales later.

She let out a little chuckle as the young man seemed to take in what she was saying. The effortless way he snached the bag out of the air was quickly noted in her mind. Good, a ranger should always take time to train their reflexes. Something she herself should be working back up on again.

“I wouldn’t call it a bribe, more an allowance. After all, little Ro adores you like an elder brother. Might as well enjoy life while you’re young. Caution and adventure are two sides to the same coin.”

She nodded along as Lorrin asked her roundabout to watch out for Yo. While she didn’t doubt the young woman could handle herself she supposed so long as she was adopting in more strays she might as well check on one of the few she would begin to entertain as thinking of as her own.

“Oh don’t worry about our darling Yo. I’ll make sure she doesn’t get in over her scales.”

She waved Lorrin off as she headed out to the spa herself. After the bruising she got, a good soak would do her well. She’d declined any self care in the efforts to make sure that anyone she found was in top shape. A healer knew not rest when her only coworker was injured. The double time would be paid back in full when he was in top shape.

As she approached the spa counter she did a quick scan of the building. She didn’t immediately see anyone she recognized but she knew plenty had beat her to leaving today.

“Did you need any help madam?”

Her head snapped in the voice’s direction with a quickness that had the lady jump. She took a step away from the woman without thinking. No that wouldn’t do. There was cautiousness and then there was just being plain jumpy. She needed to relax the tension from herself lest she be prone to stupid mistakes.

“Apologies young miss. I seem to be rather tense today.”

She saw the woman shake her head horizontally and before she could get caught in a game of pleasantries she raised a finger to her lips, a symbol to pause and not speak.

“No no. Now have you by any chance seen a young woman with black scales and horns?”

The woman pointed without a sound.

    “Good, thank you.”

She walked in to see that everyone she intended to catalog the movements of were all together. Good good. That made life infinitely easier. She let her bag fall to the side with her personal effects before she slid off her thin cover-up. She was quick to join them in the pools as she took a spot right beside the group. Her long hair cascaded around her as she let the water soothe her aches.

“My my seems I nearly missed the party. Just the group I was looking for too. How are your wounds treating you?”

Hubyr
Location: Beach

Hubyr.jpgI ain’t a fish.” He took another sip, though he was expecting the flavor this time and didn’t make that sour face. “What compelled a person to make a drink like this?” It wasn’t an insult; merely a curious question. He was used to the sweeter drinks if it wasn’t water. Lemon definitely wasn’t one he thought to make a drink out of. To enhance a dish? Sure. But a drink?

He enjoyed it regardless.

After destroying his own drink, taking Ayana’s setting her own down as a sign that she was done, he swiped it up and started on her’s, unless she stopped him. Doubt.

Hubyr nodded with a grunt at the Syphid’s question.

At the Centosian’s declaration of taking him up on a battle, he absolutely did not stop the laugh that came from him. “I don’t think a person that has focuses in magic can best me in feats of strength.” Big ego, ya see.

Ayana went and then corrected their thoughts by clarifying that it was a drinking competition rather than sparing. He was eventually going to enlighten them. It was just a bit fun to poke bears.

Hubyr watched as Ayana was drawn in by the waves of the ocean. He contemplated joining her, but not until the drink was empty.

Turning his back on the water and towards Celestine and Gwen, “Anyways, yes, a drinking competition. I will win, though.” The forest elf smiled cheekily.

Not a second later did a ball of water smack him in the head, soaking his hair and drenching the rest of his body. He was already wet to begin with, so on that note, he didn’t mind. But the drink he was almost done with was now full of salt water.

He threw the cup closer inland so that the water wouldn’t wash it away (he’d throw it away later) and turned around, revealing the long, loose strands sticking to his wet face. If anyone thought his markings were temporary, this would prove that they were actually tattoos.

Maybe a fight is in order?

He ran his hand through his tangled hair, getting the wet locks away from his face as he charged into the water with a roar, intending to jump in and make a big splash next to Ayana.

Kiel Shan

Kiel gave a pensive nod. "I'm happy to hear that," he responded. Even in respect to his leg, which didn't seem as functional as Pozou's hand was, he wouldn't have wished to rather have the limb be severed. Certainly balancing on two legs, one of which could not hold as much weight as the other, was easier than only being able to stand on one. He had also seen the unease among some people when they saw someone who had lost a limb. The desert man couldn't understand it himself, but if the scorn of others was something he could avoid, he certainly would do so. The realization allowed him to see that aside from his leg, this expedition had changed him mentally as well.

When he heard Kuma's voice, the light-blue-haired man turned to look at the woman, slightly disconcerted by her decision to stay besides the water as opposed to get into it. The first conclusion that came to his post-possession mind was it was due to an aversion to the salt in the bath, and almost instinctively Kiel found himself splashing a palmful of the warm saline onto her blue skin and shifting away further away in the tub. After a moment, realizing what he had done, he looked away sheepishly. "... sorry," he said, his cheeks flushed from not just the warm bath. "I suppose I'm still somewhat fearful..."

One of the pirate sisters appearing was like divine intervention in this awkward situation. Kiel gave her a smile in greeting and made room before looking at their surroundings for any sign of Rose. After a few moments, realization of Jane's solitude sunk in. He blinked his light blue eyes. From when he had first met them, the desert man had always seen them together. As his gaze once again fell on Jane, he voiced, "where is Rose?" There was a bit of concern in his voice, as he feared they might have gotten into some sort of spat, one which he assumed was of immense size due to its ability to disrupt a bond between those related by blood, the strength of which was only second to the bond of two tribesmen.

Yo's seemed to appear just as suddenly. If the previous newcomer was sent by some divine being, this one was sent by a trickster deity who intended to see Kiel suffer. He once again found his gaze lowering to the water he was submerged in as he remembered what the insidiator that had taken ahold of him had him to do her as well as some of their other companions.

His brow furrowed a bit at her question. "Yes... they have quite the list..." A lot of it was things Kiel had never heard of before, with some sounding more painful than relaxing. Hundreds of needles piercing your face and body, scorching rocks being placed all over your back... those sounded more akin to torture than therapy to the desert man, whose community relaxed simply by resting in the shade or bathing in the cool water of a hidden oasis. Even the water in this tub being heated was something new to him, although the salt that was mixed in led him to having an open mind. When Yo mentioned her scales, he couldn't help but wonder what treatments were specialized for them. The ideas that came to his mind had Kiel wonder whether it would indeed be relaxing or just painful, much like the treatments for those with bare skin. His light blue eyes then drifted over to the Quetzola, gazing over the feathers that covered his body. Would there be special treatments for him as well?

Helena's arrival made him think about his own body, and bodies which were similar to his, such as Jane's and hers. No scales, feathers, or fur. While Kiel would not have given himself such a classification, most would categorize the three as the same thing: human. He couldn't help but wonder, were there any treatments which were specialized for them. Perhaps one of the two knew about it and were planning on receiving it today. Or perhaps they already had in the past sometime.

"Surprisingly, my possessor managed to leave my body fairly intact," he responded. "How about yourself?"

Celestine Oceania

Celestine listened intently to Gwen's words, nodding every so often in understanding. So they both had set off on this expedition for the sake of their homes. Landsmen seemed to have more and more in common with her with every passing minute. In Gwen's case, it seemed her home wanted her back, resenting her for leaving in the first place. Celestine knew her people understood her absence, so she thankfully had to face no scorn for that. Aside from her friends and family under the sea though, she wondered if any of her subjects were missing her, or hoping for her swift return. She had only been somewhat of a celebrity while growing up, given the title of future Queen of Oceania. Her father was still the one the people depended on and looked to for guidance. Her embarking on this quest was to prove her worth to her people and show she was fit to be their next ruler. If she never returned, or perhaps worse: returned empty-handed, would they welcome her back?

"Well, in my case I'm lucky that my kingdom know why I'm away. There's no ill will towards my departure. As far as whether Oceania will be okay in my absence, well... as long as my father is on the throne, I'm sure of it. ... I worry more that they will simply move on from me." She gulped softly, looking down at her feet. Landsmen had shown remarkable compassion and understanding so far, but had she perhaps said too much? After all, she wondered if this was something all of her own kind could empathize with.

The others agreeing to spar with each other only heightened the unease. She was only now finding friends among those who she thought would forever be foes. She feared a misplaced blow or a strike too hard could easily burn the fragile bridges that were being built. "Oh... in the case of combat, that will be a competition I'll only spectate..." Hubyr apparently had quite a bit of confidence about him being the victor. It would be unbecoming of a princess to say so, but Celestine would certainly be looking forward to seeing one of the other two make him eat his words.

The Syphid blinked when the blonde spoke once again, letting out a much-needed laugh after a moment. "Sadly, the trip to my abode will most likely be a few days just by swimming, even for those more accustomed to it over walking," she explained. "You're welcome to join me, you won't be rid of me that easy." Still looking at the woman, she slowly strolled deeper into the ocean, feeling the cool water reach higher and higher up her legs. It was still warm compared to what she experienced at her home, yet pleasant nonetheless. As it cooled her body on the outside, another sip from the drink Ayana had bought them all cooled her from the inside.

The elven woman's observation led her to shift her gaze to Hubyr, and although a fish wasn't the most accurate comparison for someone who lived among them, she did see a vague resemblance to a certain puffer fish, causing her to let out a chuckle at the statement. Ayana's invitation brought a small smile to her face. His reaction to the comment seemed a bit curt, which came as a surprise to even Celestine. She had certainly expected herself to be the most uptight of the group, but perhaps not anymore. She slightly raised a brow at how hastily he finished off his beverage. The little elf was correct when she had said staying hydrated was especially important for Celestine, but it seemed this elven man had an even stronger thirst. Seeing him then take the drink that Ayana set down and guzzle it down left a look of disbelief on her face which she could not hide. It was fairly obvious that he was, well... crude, but sure he couldn't be this uncultured?!

"That sounds like it would be fun," she said. The more similarities she found between herself and landsmen, the more she became curious about them. She was thankful someone was willing to take her on a tour of their culture, as fear would certainly hold her back from doing it alone.

"Ah, the game is drinking then, is it?" It made sense based on the destinations the little woman had listed earlier. Celestine still found herself apprehensive. She was raised under the belief that anything in excess was unbecoming of someone of her status. On top of that, a night of vomiting and a hangover were not things she was keen on experiencing. Maybe she would tap out gracefully when she reached a healthy limit. That was the proper thing to do in competitions of tabletop strategy games as well, after all. Or at least that's what she had been taught.

Once again, Hubyr was brimming with confidence, certain he would drink them all under the table. Even though Celestine was willing to join, she certainly wasn't going to be the one to attempt to take him down. Sadly, win or lose, based on what she had already seen, the princess didn't foresee this man having the best drinking etiquette. She grimaced at what type of unsavory behavior this man would have under the influence if this was how he behaved completely (presumably) sober.

It was apparent that Celestine wasn't the only one filling the pull of the ocean, as Ayana started wading into the waves as well until she was fully submerged. It was a somewhat humorous sight, as the syphid woman herself had still approximately a foot above the surface. It seemed Ayana had no intentions of being the only one drenched though, as balls of water soon shoot up from where she had gone under. The splash came as a surprise to the princess, dampening her face and hair, but she cheerfully laughed it off. A devious look of her own appeared on her face as she raised her palms outwards in front of her to cause the water in the space where Ayana was submerged to move, resulting in a gentle but perhaps still disorienting whirlpool forming and swirling for a few seconds.

Celestine blinked upon hearing Hubyr's words, who once again didn't seem to have any humor in the situation. His quick resorting to violence brought up some apprehension within her and reminded her of her first contact with this expedition. The syphid princess gulped as she remembered her attack on the pirate sisters. Ironically, she had ended up working with the older sister, the one who seemed more scornful and less forgiving of the two, to take down the monster at Stone's Throw. No apologies had been exchanged before then or since. Celestine now accepted that she was in the wrong, but still felt her actions were somewhat justified due to their pirate affiliation. She had certainly stopped believing the exaggerations about landsmen and generalizing them, but with pirates it was harder due to it hitting closer to home. The princess wanted to someday apologize, but the thought of doing it anytime soon caused her stomach to twist into knots.

While lost in thought, she missed Hubyr make his move. Celestine found herself caught off-guard in the splash radius of the elven man's cannonball but relieved he hadn't resorted to violence. The relief quickly made way for a mischievous excitement though as she once again brought her hands before her. This time, with her palms facing up, she pulled the water around the two elves upwards, forming a wave between them and herself. Her gold eyes looked to Gwen and she motioned towards her spell using her head with a smirk. They had the synergy to build a staircase out of an underground cavern together, so flanking the other two with waves to crash down upon them when they remerge should be nothing for them.

Somewhere in Centos

5b175579baca12a04eb7c2bb92e064d5.jpg

Two men sat at a round table. The room around them had bare stone walls, small windows and a rusty candle chandelier. It was a humble place reserved for priestly studies, but today it hosted two Inquisition commanders, Martin Toussaint and Arthur Dayne.

Martin was a massive man with long red hair, a missing eye and steel armor. His intimidating aura suited his position atop The Nine, a group of powerful master mages.

Dayne was the polar opposite. He was an average man with leather armor, short black hair and a calm demeanor. He was dangerous but unassuming, perfect for a master of espionage, intelligence and assassination.

Martin leaned forward, narrowing his eye. "Why'd you come here? The local whores not depraved enough to entertain you?"

Dayne smirked with sardonic amusement. "No the girls are great... hell I can introduce you."

"Hmmf.. your wanton sin disgusts me. It stains the church's reputation."

"Ninety percent of Centos disgusts you. I'd be ashamed if I didn't."

"Aye, most are sinners to feed the flame. My shameful ten percent will be there to tend it"

The spymaster leaned back. "Look... to be honest your sermon is boring me already. You should connect to the audience before calling them trash."

Martin glanced at the door. "Then leave."

"Unfortunately I can't... we have business."

"Then stop dancing around the point."

Dayne sarcastically sighed. "You've always been immune to my charms." He leaned forward. "It's about the group you're hunting, you need to call off your attack dogs."

"Don't confuse your agenda with mine, the heretics will burn at the stake when I find them."

The spymaster smirked. "No they won't." His smile widened as he appraised his stern rival.

Martin blinked several times. "No?" His mouth pursed and his eye twitched. "Explain."

"Take it easy or you'll be dead by forty." Dayne chuckled. "Do you know what happened in Stone's Throw?"

"Of course, why does it matter?"

"The possessed were connected to a hive mind, Richard was among them. Now the rifters know what he knows."

Martin's jaw tensed. "Seven saints."

The spymaster hummed in agreement. "The game's changed. We need to find the well before the rifters."

"No matter. I'll capture Richard and pry it from him."

"Maybe... or maybe he escapes while his mercs fight you. Maybe he dies in battle. Maybe you capture him and he keeps quiet... too many maybes."

Martin shook his head. "Our lives are plagued with uncertainty, but the saints will guide me through it."

"Or we could just follow the outlaws to the well."

"You want them to reach it?"

The spymaster narrowed his eyes, coldness shone from them. "Dont worry, we'll shadow them the entire time. When they reach it we'll kill them."

Martin scowled with a sharp chuckle. "Your plan's absurd."

"You forgot to add 'ly smart' to that."

"Fucking manchild... when my men find them, we're capturing Richard and burning the rest."

"Look, work with me and you can have the credit when we get to the well." The spymaster shrugged. "Hell you can destroy it."

"A serpent's lie."

Dayne shook his head with a small frown. "I'm serious, this is bigger than politics and promotions. You can have the credit if you work with me."

Martin took a ponderous moment. "I want ten cubes of silence."

The spymaster flashed an incredulous grin. "Are you drunk? I'll give you two."

"You'll give me nine."

"Two, those cubes are worth more than a castle."

The massive knight crossed his arms. "Meet me in the middle."

Dayne thought for a moment. "Five's steep but I can do it."

"Six you mongrel, fractions are rounded up."

"You'll get five and thank me for it. Do we have a deal?"

"Hmmf." Martin extended his hand. "Aye we have an accord."

Dayne shook his hand. "Good, I was worried this would drag on."

"You're not the only busy man in Centos." Martin stood from the table, armor clinking as he straightened his tabard. "How're you tracking them?"

"That's the easy part. I have a man on the inside... one of my best."

Lorrin would wave Helena off as they went their separate ways now that the Yo is at least taken care of he would have nothing else to worry about moving forward with his day. Walking over to Roland's room he would be immediate greeted with the small child running face-first into him. "Excited much there kid had I not been standing in the way you would have ran face first into that wall over there. As for what we're doing well your mother told me about some treasures you found from our last adventure you wish to have identified. I'm not an expert in that sort of thing but I do have some experience for that was passed on to me by my sister so I might be able to help a little." He would then turn to lead them off to the caravan when suddenly someone else would end up running into him. "Akk what am I a wall that's twice in a roll now." Lorrin would glance over at who just ran into him to see a young brown haired girl probably about the same age and size as Roland in a blue one peace. Strange she looks similar to his sister ...... wait a minute. "Sasha!"

"Oh um hey bro didn't think I'd find you here totally haven't been causing trouble around d did mom send you to grab me or...." The brown haired girl looked up at her now confirmed brother with a rather worried expression on her face like a child caught in her long game of cat and mouse and is hoping she won't be eaten or in her case sent back home. "Why are you here Sasha" Lorrin crossed his arms looking down at the girl in frustration she wasn't supposed to leave home without someone accompanying her and she is very clearly alone. "Oh ummmmmmmmmmmmm hey whos this cutie!" Sasha would immediately move around Roland looking him over. "Sasha." "Did you miss me and Jem that much that you needed to find a new sister?" "You're ignoring the question, Sasha." "Jem heartbroken that you already replaced us it's only been four years though she is a cutie perfect for the role I approve." "Sasha!" "Hi, I'm Sasha, Lorrin's real sister how much is he paying you ill double it." She held her hand for Roland very clearly doing her best to ignore the question."

Gwendolyn smiled at Celestine, watching her walk deeper into the water. “I’m sure you’ll have a warm welcome home.

Slipping her dress off her shoulders, she revealed the gold bathing suit she wore. Taking a step into the water, she almost gasped at the temperature. It was warmer than she was used to and she looked at Ayana who was already chest-deep in the ocean. She took off her hat and threw it into the sand.

A drinking game? That’s one of my favorites.” She said, walking deeper into the water.

Gwendolyn's brow raised at Hubyr’s remark. Looking him up and down, he stood a chance to outdrink her purely based on size. Taking his… short stance into consideration, there was a small chance she could beat him at his own game. He had already assumed she couldn’t beat him in a physical fight which made her want to watch him pass out on a grimy bar floor even more.

We’ll see.” Gwen smirked, now waist-deep in the water.

She looked over to Celestine just as a ball of water splashed into her face. Letting out a gasp, she wiped her eyes and looked to where Ayana once was. The elf was absent, but small bubbles rose out of the water in her place.

A small laugh escaped her lips and it seemed that the syphid shared the laughs. Catching Celestine’s smirk, Gwen answered with a nod accompanied by a mischievous smile. Stepping closer to the princess, she pulled her hands to her chest and formed a large wave behind the two elves. It would wait to crash after Celestine had sent her wave. Watching as Ayana and Hubyr emerged from the water, she snapped. The wave she controlled moved forward, crashing into the water.

This was only the start of being inundated with updates on his hand, Pozou discovered. He had lifted it a few times, plunging it in and out of the water as he went to speak about it. He seemed almost equal parts subconscious and eager to speak of it. “That’s what I’m hoping,” Pozou answered Kuma’s query, wiggling his charcoal clawed nails, trying to unstiffen them. He was suddenly more aware of the ligaments in his hand like the strings moving inside a piano when a key was pressed. He had been fascinated by this during his time at the Academy. Often, he would raise his hands above him and watch the ligaments and bones move so effortlessly.

Though, he was cautious of how squeamish others were, and so resisted gawking like a bemused child at his hand for much longer.

Pozou smiled to Jane as she arrived and nodded. “Better, thank you for asking. I hope you’re equally as well rested.” He owed quite a bit to Jane and Tammond for helping him through those blasted tunnels, but he also understood the event had no doubt taken a toll on them too.

It wasn’t long before dear Yo had joined, temporarily forgetting herself as she slipped into the water with them, and had been discussing the services they had on offer here. Pozou hadn’t minded it. Really, they all deserved to forget themselves for a little bit, and to just relax. That was what they were all here for. So, he could only smile at Yo’s amendments.

As Helena joined the fray with her cool yet concerned nature, he had nodded to her statement also, and reassured, “Fine, thank you. I think everyone is doing well too. The water certainly seems to help.”

To Kiel's words, he piqued in, "It's a good thing they did..." The thought of being possessed was enough to scare a man like him. He hadn't been sure if it was medically possible. Well, he had been provegn wrong on that front.

there were a lot of different people on the beach, different creatures of different appearances, and well, there were some he'd recognize more than others, elves, humans, people with bird wings, it was all rather curious and well Xiko really one thing that was incredibly common between all of them, is the fact they indeed had legs, yet he managed to spot and expectation to this rule a person that appeared to lack actual legs and in place of those, there was a tail. of course, it seemed like they were just taking a nap on the sand in fact in Xiko's mind this provided to be the most interesting person he‘d seen all day tho if a crab could be called a person then it would have probably been in the top three. curiosity getting the better of the dragonfolk he’d Decide to gently prod the presumably sleeping snake fellow.. what could possibly go wrong aside form being turned into a projectile?

GStone.jpgStone straightened up as his hands folded behind his back when Aedzel approached with Valentine. His ears flicked as he nodded his head the slightest bit, “Indeed. I feel that is probably the best use of my time right now. Getting sand in my fur and becoming incoherent on spirits is not suitable for me.” He’d also been soaked enough the last two weeks, though it wasn’t water that soaked him.

He shrugged his shoulders slightly, “It has also been some time since I was last here and I wish to see if anything has changed.

Turning his gaze to Valentine, he softly bowed at the waist, “Miss Aedzel is correct. That outfit agrees with you, Valentine.

Casting his green eyes around quickly, he released his hands and stepped toward the door. “I think to not wait for too long, else any lines get too long in the afternoon rush.

Stepping outside, he felt the sun immediately pelt his black fur, already heating him up. The softest, most abrupt purr escaped him before he clamped up.

I’m partial to finding a food stand and seeing what the shops have to offer. Maybe seeing the architecture. What about you two?

Roland wanted to ask something more about Lorrin’s sister, especially since it was rare to hear about his family, but was quickly interrupted by another individual managing to also slam into him. He did his best to peak around the elder. He heard Lorrin address her by name and a wave of confusion came over him.

    “Sasha?”

His unstated but implied question was quickly resolved as the girl called herself his sister. And… did she just call him cute? He could feel his face start to heat up a little as he beat down a blush with great effort. He jumped as the girl extended her hand to him. Wait paying? Why would he be paying him?

    “Uh hi… I’m Rol- ah”

He looked quickly between Lorrin and Sasha as if trying to judge how trustworthy the girl was. He started to grimace as he realized if he went and slipped up this easily he was going to be getting an earful from Helena. He shifted more into Lorrin’s side as he spoke once more with hesitation.

“I’m Ro Lis. I’m not being paid or anything… My mom just doesn’t trust me with a lot of people... plus why would you want to pay me?”

He glanced at Lorrin in a ‘is she really your sister manner. They’d been planning to go to the beach so the polite thing would be to invite her along too right? She was already wearing a swimsuit too. But then how did she know to find him here? There’s no way he could have sent her a letter. Or was it just a coincidence?

“Would you like to come to the beach with us then?”

"Hello, Ro Lis! Oh, I get it now so this just some sort of bodyguard thing your mother must be an important figure for my brother to want to be hired by. Though it's a shame I was hoping to hire a little sister for today." Sasha would give off an innocent smile as if she has never done anything harmful in her life. "Sasha." "Oh fine I took some gold from Dad's bank and used it to take a sole vacation home was getting very boring and I think the other mages are starting to get mad about my explosions and um pranks." Lorrin would place his figures up against his eyes. He looked over at Roland with his questing look "Ro this is Sasha she's my youngest sister and is the magic item, expert I spoke of earlier. Take everything she says with a grain of salt, she's kind of a bad influence." "Oh, how rude I do good things occasionally." "And just what were you doing before you ran into me." "Ah um not setting traps around the hallway." "Shhh. The beach it is then I but later you're helping me send a letter home to your mother." "err fine." She then grabs Roland's hand as they leave for the beach. "Come on the water won't get warmer."

Ayana was about to surface when a whirlpool formed around her, spinning her around for a moment. When the vortex subsided she poked her head above water and looked to her friends. "Be careful there are whirlpools under— but she stopped when Hubyr charged towards her. "Wait!" She held out her hands with a smile. "It wasn't me!"

He ignored her protests and cannonballed the water, dousing her head and chest. "Splashing me by surprise?" She swam beside him. "Such a cheapshot!" She gently slapped his shoulder, her hand lingered for a moment. Then she brushed back her ponytail, meeting his eyes through loose strands. "I'll remember that." She was about to say more when a wave suddenly loomed over her head.

"Huh?" She looked over as the wave neared her; it was too close to dodge. Instead she breathed deep and braced for impact, but there was no way she could withstand the ocean's weight. It pushed her underwater and pressed her against the sandy bottom. I'm surrounded by lunatics, she thought, standing up once the wave passed. But when she stood another wave pushed her down. Was one not enough?

She swam from the turbulent water, popping up near the beach. With a deep breath she walked ashore and sprawled out on the sand. "Human beaches are like battlegrounds." She closed her eyes as the sun warmed her skin. "Quite a pair of waves, we should do that again but one at a time please." Ayana chuckled and glanced over at where her cup had been.

Where's my drink? she thought, looking around with mild confusion. A moment later she frowned with disappointed surprise. "My drink!" Ayana turned to her friends. "Someone stole it! Did any of you see the thief?" She stood and walked to the discarded cup, snatching it from the ground.

Luka considered Amalia's advice with a hmmm sound. "Doesn't sound like a bad idea. I'll try that next time a gilded twat bothers me." He smirked and flagged down a bartender. "Oy! My mate says the specials are worth a look. What's ya best one?"

The man stopped polishing a glass. "Best? That depends on who you ask, but the Caliphate's Curse is our most popular."

"Aces. I'll have a curse then."

"Hope it doesn't follow you home." The server grabbed bottles from below the bar, mixing liquors as Luka turned to Amalia. There was a short silence as he considered his next words, but when Rose arrived he found his tongue. "You're lively today." He leaned back in his chair. "Welcome to the party, rule is ya can't be here without a drink!"

Just then Daisy joined the group. Her awkward introduction put a smile on Luka's face. "Don't worry bout manners, we have none." He laughed once. "We've never met but I seen ya round the ship. Heard you're a grave robber, hell of a profession that is eh?"

Hubyr

Hubyr.jpgOf course, a dense forest elf making a cannonball would make for some decent splashes to anyone in his vicinity. Though, a splash could only get so big without a higher height to jump from.

Upon making contact with the water, the remnants of the whirlpool that Celestine had created dragged him around a little bit before he was able to right himself.

A cheapshot? Like the ball of water wasn’t?” Hubyr gruffly chuckled, moving his muscular arm to splash another small wave of water at Ayana, though he wasn’t able to get much momentum to do anything before she slapped his shoulder, thus he stopped his splash attack. His chuckle turned into a laugh.

A wave coming up behind Ayana was too quick for him to yell out for her to move it, and before they knew it, not one, but two waves crashed upon their heads.

Without a knack for controlling the elements like most forest elves (though his was due to lack of practice and patience), he found himself dragged under from the pull of the water. The first wave, he was able to bring his head above water just in time to only get hit by the second.

Hubyr didn’t surface normally after the second hit. Instead, he was comically washed up onto the beach, face-down, totally missing Ayana’s cries of her long-gone drink sucked up from the himbo that was now sucking sand.

Note: He’s fine. He’s just being dramatic and he actually is not a strong swimmer.

pirate.jpg Rose looked to Amalia and gave her a smile. Well, it resembled a smile. Only the corners of her mouth were upturned while her eyes remained cold. “Hello, Amalia.” She greeted the woman.

Studying Amalia’s appearance, she raised her brows. The knight didn’t have her usual armor on and wore a veil to almost disguise her face. “I like you without the armor.” She said, leaning on her elbows as they rested on the table. Luka caught her attention and at his comment, her brows furrowed. Before she could respond, Daisy approached the table and sat in the empty chair that happened to be right next to her. Watching the masked woman stand up and sit back down again, she bit her lip to hide the smile that was forming.

Hello.” Rose nodded to Daisy.

Turning to Amaila she shook her head. “No, Jane wanted to go to the spa and I wanted to drink.” Rose said just as the bartender brought her a mug full of alcohol. She nodded to the man as she handed him a few coins. “I’d like to get a round of drinks for this table, as well.” It was a pirate tradition for one of the crewmates to buy the crew's first round of drinks when they docked. Thankfully, there were only a few people in their group here so Rose could afford to spend the extra coins.

The barkeep walked away and Rose looked to Daisy as Luka spoke her her. “Did the Willowix treat you well?” Rose asked before taking a sip of her drink. Savoring the taste, she set the mug on the table.

pirate?.png Jane smiled brightly at Pozou. “That’s great! Oh yes, staying on a ship that nice had me sleeping like a rock.” Jane laughed.

The Willowix wasn’t the most expensive ship but at least they had a comfortable place to sleep. Jane didn’t doubt that the entire hull could hear her snoring.

Looking to Kiel, she frowned a little. “Rose and I decided to split up today. She didn’t want to come to the spa and I didn’t want to sit in a tavern the whole night. We’ve visited this island before so we know that it’s safe to be apart.” Jane said, pulling her hair up in a messy updo.

She tied her hair up with the new red bandana she had swiped from a store on her way here. Just as she finished, Yo entered the room and Jane waved at her. “They have that kind of service?” She asked, tilting her head a little. “I can join you if you’d like. I don’t have scales but a massage sounds lovely.

At Helena's voice filling the room, Jane turned and smiled at the cleric. “Hello, Helena.

Of course they didn't mind her joining them. She'd known that would be the case. Her fears not bearing out, as usual.

"Wonderful." Daisy said, putting her hands on the table. "It feels good to do nothing after all of... that." She said to Amalia, smiling. "Do you mind if I ask where you're from? We've been bouncing around from place to place, I haven't really gotten a chance to know many people." It was easy to talk when you'd started. Just like swimming. The water was only cold when you first jumped in. Once you had and started swimming around, it wasn't bad at all. It helped that she could feel an almost palpable warmth from Amalia's smile as she sat down.

At least, that's what Daisy was thinking until the metaphorical waters turned frigid.

Her eyes snapped to Lucas face, and her lips twisted underneath her mask. The hands on the tables balled to fists.

"Don't believe everything you hear." She said, heart beating fast. He didn't know. He wasn't trying to insult her, she didn't think. But whatever his intent, his words had cut. Her family was gone, and this man had just insulted their legacy and everything they'd stood for. "Grave robbers are repulsive folk. Unless you're attempting to make me angry, I do not think you want to be comparing me to one. I'm a grave digger, sometimes, but first and foremost I help inter the dead properly, and stamp out filth like grave robbers and necromancers that disrespect those who've earned their rest. I know every burial ritual from every civilization that's had their customs written down, and a fair few from civilizations that aren't known or have no written tradition." She said, speaking quickly. "My family has been doing this for more than a thousand years, faithfully, unflaggingly, and I am proud to be our youngest member. I will, I'm afraid, take violent offence if such a comparison is made again."

She had heard what Jane had said about buying everyone drinks, but it hadn't registered until the drink was put down in front of her. She hesitated to drink a moment, but the anger in her made her bold. She removed her mask again, revealing her stitched cheeks and ruined lips, and then tilted her head back so the drink wouldn't dribble out the V shaped missing chunk of flesh on her lower lip. She kept her face pointing to the ceiling until she was done drinking, and then set the cup back down on the table. As she did so, the emotions in her cooled, and she felt embarrassed. There had been no need to snap.

"I apologize for my curtness, Luca." Daisy said, further embarrassed now that everyone could see she had to press her upper left lip to her ruined lower left lip and speak out of only half of her mouth in order not to lisp or make a whistling noise on certain letters. "I am no grave robber. It's extremely insulting to be called one, but I won't pretend like I don't understand the confusion. It makes sense, and you didn't mean any harm by it. I'm sorry."

"It treated me well." Daisy said to Rose, happy for another topic. "I've been on a ship or two in my time, though I'm no sailor. But I traveled frequently, and ships are the best way around. The Willowix is a fine one, to my admittedly inexpert eye. What do you think of it? You're obviously more versed in sailing than I. Would you mind me asking, as well, how you came to be with this group?" People liked to be asked about themselves, Daisy remembered reading in a book. "If it's not too personal a question. We were in the cell together, back in the other town, but understandably I don't think we really got into the hows and the whys." She looked at Luca and Amalia. "Actually, I'd like to ask the two of you the same question. What brings you here? To this group? And what keeps you here after what's happened? No pressure to answer if it's too personal, naturally."

Celestine Oceania && Amalia Winters

Sadly, the syphid hadn't been able to enjoy Ayana's gullibility about the whirlpool because of Hubyr's splash, but seeing the two of them be soaked by the waves created by Gwen and herself more than made up for it. Her laughter continued as Ayana made her way out of the water, commenting on the harsh nature of the seaside.

"You know, sometimes people ride on waves instead of splash people with them," Celestine said. "Perhaps that would be something you would like more." It was strange. Certainly wave riding was an activity invented by her kind, and the princess used to become enraged at the thought of landsmen partaking in it, yet now it seemed almost a blessing that they did. It was something they had in common, and she would have liked to try it with the group around her.

Her eyes then shifted to the other forest elf, who was also laying in the sand but looked a lot less comfortable than Ayana. "Oh dear..." she muttered, wading through the waves to stand besides him. "Are you alright?" the woman asked, kneeling down and shaking his shoulder a bit before trying to roll him over. She thought the man was uncultured and wanted to retaliate at his antics but certainly wasn't aiming to kill him.

Celestine blinked when Ayana spoke up once again, the princess's eyes darting from her to Hubyr. Upon seeing he was well enough, a small smirk appeared on her face. "It seems you've been caught."

Luka's response brought a small smile to Amalia's face. She even started to hope that someone else attempted to give him trouble, just to see what he could come up with. In contrast, Rose's compliment caused her eyebrows to jump and her eyes to widen.

"O-oh, well... thank you..." she responded, suddenly finding it difficult to meet the pirate woman's gaze. Her doubts and desire to disagree were strong, but the knight tried her best to just accept the compliment.

"Ah, I see." She gave a nod to Rose's answer. "Well, I hope both of you have an enjoyable evening. I hear the spas are quite exquisite as well if you feel like going another night." The knight gave a gracious smile when the redhead ordered drinks for everyone. "How kind of you." She had just finished her previous drink and it seemed she would need to start working on the next.

"Ah, I'm from the Marsh Gates," Amalia answered Daisy, recoiling slightly at the fear of her recognizing her from her military days. It seemed unlike, and for all Amalia knew, Daisy could have been just a child while she was serving, but the paranoia stuck nonetheless.

Between herself and the grave digger though, the awkwardness was never-ending. Amalia listened with a look of slight concern as a poorly worded question from the young man set her off on a long-winded explanation. The drink at least helped to soothe her though, and Rose was able to steer the conversation in a different direction.

The woman had a knack for questions that reached deep though, and when asked about her reasons for being on this expedition, the knight couldn't help but wish the woman was continuing her defensive rant. "Er... it's a selfish reason I suppose, but... I want to make a wish to feel right within myself." It was vague, though Amalia felt after taking her dress, name, and vocal inflection into consideration, it was easy enough to comprehend. Still, she also went on to add, "... in my body, I mean. ... and how I'm seen by the world."

A sweet giggle escaped her lips even if she tried to hide it because it seemed so odd to imagine Stone in a drunken state. While she does like a few drinks of the alcoholic beverages served at the bars, she can understand where he is coming from. "The beach and I never bode well together either." She said with a hint of dramatic flair to make light out of it.

"I fully agree with you, Sir Stone, that's been our plan too. And yes! Food, besides, we should make the most of the day!" She chirped, clapping her hands together. Food to start the day is a great idea, mostly because she hasn't had any food at all since the day began.

"Let's go!" Aedzel bounced, still holding on to Valentine. Excitement radiated off of her as she skipped towards the town with her friend in tow and Stone with them.

The town was littered with people when they had arrived, particularly the food district. The scent of smoked meat and the sweet pastries wafted through the air, ever so inviting. This had only called for Aedzel's stomach to complain in want. But oh, what to eat when everything seem so delicious? A sigh escaped her lips at the thought of not being able to afford anything too expensive since she's low on cash. "So much food! Too bad I can't try them all." A pout formed on her lips as she brought out her small pouch of change. "So, what are you guys having?"
