Build | Lanky, Gangly. Roland is still growing into his long limbs and it’s even worse since he’s skinnier than even a typical Savanna Elf.

    Helena Lis, Human

    Age | 28

Build | Helena is of an average build for a human woman. She's got her share of muscle but she's clearly not bulky and is of slightly shorter stature than most barely reaching 5'5

Marks & Piercings | Helena has numerous whip scars covering her back and legs that are covered by her usual long style of dress when in town. However, on the road, Helena wears more thin sheerer cloth clothing. Sometimes the movement of travel will reveal the upper scars on her back, or in hotter climates, the sheer fabric will reveal scars if her hair is tied up.

    Profession | Wandering Trauma Nurse

  • Art by NonaAge | 25

    Build | Pear-shaped, 5'1'' and 201 pounds

    Profession | Currently a Runaway

Origin | Far West; Province Onkei-Shuu

Ability | Necklace is enchanted with a defense buff. It's like an invisible shield that clings to her skin, making her more difficult to be pierced - her natural magic has something to do with helping the way this buff works, as she can do it to a lesser degree without the necklace.

Training & Experience | Very okay with a dagger; if she were to get into a fight, she'd probably throw her weight around and grapple more than she would be throwing fists.

Personality | She's naïve to certain world issues, but she's eager to learn. She can be quite the bubbly person, often looking out to make new friends when possible. Yo will not curse unless she's extremely upset by something.

    Random Facts
    *She gets sea-sick!
*She doesn't know her necklace is enchanted, yet.
*She dances with a figurative two-left feet
*She has read many books in her life

  • Freya 2.pngStatus | Deceased

    Age | 48

    Build | 6' 5” and muscular, athletic

Profession | Mercenary, previously was a clan chieftain

Combat class | Fighter, specializes in Axes

Training & Experience | Survival, hunting

Origin & Background | Freya knew Bjorn, her husband, from when they were children. She partook in the tribe's teachings of survival and hunting. While she was a child, when she wasn't playing with the other children, she would have been found practicing what she was taught. It was when she was a teenager that she took a liking to axes. Eventually, Bjorn and her got married and set off on their own. They settled into their own village and grew prosperous and powerful enough in the area that it was difficult for enemies to wrest land from them.

In recent times, it seemed winters started to last longer, and getting harsher. Their herds couldn't be sustained with a lack of food, nor when their pens were torn from the ground. Freya had discovered the cause- Snow Orcs have moved in and expanded too close for comfort. While normally a couple orcs were no problem, these were different. Their territory was always encased in ice and harsh storms that made it impossible for them to get close without losses.

She's using retirement as a way to get away from the village and search for a solution, leaving the village to her eldest son for the time being.

Personality | She's a spontaneous, extroverted individual. She doesn't like to play word games and prefers concrete facts. Her feelings often determine her decisions. When it comes to children, she's a bit more emotional. She dislikes when people look at her as someone incapable, just because of her age. Not that it happens often, but she would be extremely hesitant to explain her true reasons for searching for the well, as that would be admitting her own weakness.

Pelea Artith
1591128272516.png
Age | 23

Build | Pelea is a Quetzola, so her arms and hands are replaced with wings. She's about 5', so she's rather small. Pelea is also very light, due to her hollow bones.

Marks & Piercings | Her feather patterns resemble that of an osprey. Her time as a pirate granted her a few piercings on her ear and stomach.

Profession | Navigator, pirate

Combat class | Archer

Origin | A fishing village by the coast.

Background | Pelea and her brother, Pozou, grew up in a fishing town. Due to their harpy nature, and their prime location, it became one of the more wealthy fishing villages. There was plenty of trade, and it was rare that someone went hungry. Pelea couldn't complain with such a nice childhood, but always found herself bored. One day, when she was about 17, Pelea spotted a large ship in the distance, and on a whim decided that it was worth checking out. What she found was a bustling pirate ship, and they were just as fascinated with her as she was with them. It only took a few hours for her to decide to throw cosh into the wind and join the motley crew. She started out doing all the little odd jobs, but was then promoted to a scout. Her natural compass proved very useful to the ship, and she was made the navigator when she was 20.
When she was 22, her ship was raiding a town, when she was reunited with her brother in a less than savory spot. Pelea was able to vouch for his abilities as a doctor, and was then taken back to the ship to be their doctor.

Personality | She's a little brash. Often she relies on a "I'll think of a plan as it comes to me" kind of girl. You definitely should not trust her to be the leader of anything, but when it comes down to it, she's a very kind girl. Pelea's actions speak as loudly as her words, which are pretty loud.

Training & Experience | Served as a ship's navigator for a few years. Has a very good recollection of star charts. In order to make herself useful in a battle, Pelea picked up archery. Due to her lack of hands, she's taken to using her feet, and her wings give her an advantage in positioning.

Random Facts | She discovered mangos a few years back, and has been buzzing to find more ever since.

Pozou Artith
Quetzola

Porou 2.jpg
(credit to oddthesungod as noted above!)

Age | 25

Build | Pozou stands at 5'7, taller than his sister. Though strong enough to fly and perch, his build can be described as slender.

Marks & Piercings | Pozou has one ear piercing in his right ear, where a blue orb dangles from. He also has a small scar on the palm of his hand from an accident involving a fish hook, one he is self-conscious of.

Profession | Pirate/Doctor...?

Combat class | Medic

Origin | Salt Rock, a fishing village.

Background | Born into relatively well-off family in the fishing village aptly named Salt Rock, Pozou's life was quiet. You fished, you interacted with the other Quetzolas, maybe even fly around the islands off the College of Arcane Arts. It was a simple way of living, one that Pozou never really minded in comparison to his sister, who often complained that she was bored. Always helpful and friendly with the locals and neighbouring communities, Pozou only really decided he would study medicine after having to assist in gathering herbs and ingredients for the only medical 'professional' in their village - an old man whose sight was ailing and hadn't a medical qualification to his name. Yikes.

However, his sister's subsequent disappearance aboard a pirate ship that had docked not far from their village had halted such dreams at 19. Feeling obligated to stay at home to continue helping his family and to wait for his sister's return, he didn't enroll in Stowfort's Medical Academy until he was 20 when he no longer pause such dreams of his. And, well, when he had some sweet money to pay all those tuition costs.

From there, Pozou was eager to learn and soak in as much as he could from the academy. Anatomies of all races, complex operations, common medicines, the list was endless. He had shown interest in surgeries as well as a route to being a general practitioner, though had been undecided. He shadowed a doctor who was more than happy to guide him and to be shadowed by him, and so took Pozou from town to town in order for him to gain practical knowledge alongside his studies.

Though, luck was on neither doctor nor doctor-in-training one particular port town they were in, for a group of pirates decided it was in their own interests to raid and plunder it. Pozou's mentor had managed to escape, but Pozou had not escaped as easily. Thankfully, amongst the motley crew was his own sister, Pelea, who had managed to vouch for him and made sure his head wasn't rolling off the pier. The ship, coincidentally looking for someone with medical experience, took him aboard at Pelea's insistance. You know, despite the fact he wasn't really fully qualified. Uh oh.

Though he may have had a way to wriggle himself out of such a predicament, the thought of his sister disappearing again, where he might not even see her, was something he couldn't let happen. Pozou begrudingly joined the pirates, having to self-teach himself and go by what he thought was the right way to reattach limbs, and learn from any medical books he could get his hands on, shady or otherwise.

One day he'll actually finish his degree and qualify properly. One day.

Personality | Though seemingly quiet at the outset, Pozou is a rather friendly individual, always willing to help someone out, even if it seems far beyond his scope or reach. He tends to be rather protective of his younger sister, despite her being well abled enough to survive and fight on her own, and seems to forget she's more qualified to protect him than the other way around. He cares deeply for her though, and that's what counts, right? Qualified, qualified, qualified, the seeking of a medical degree has made Pozou a hungry man for knowledge; he's always eager to learn things, learn about other people, and cultures, and cities and...well, the list goes on.

When it comes to violent situations or times when things can go completely pear-shaped, Pozou prefers to either negotiate and talk situations down...or just run from them. Getting himself involved in piracy has already caused him enough bother, and he prefers not to make his life more difficult than it already is (even though he's joined his sister on this crazy quest).

| Training & Experience |

  • Trained for four years at the Stowfort Medical Academy.
  • Knowledge of healing magic.
  • Can make basic medicines for ailments such as herbs.
  • Some knowledge of surgical procedures (admittedly, much of it is self-taught).
  • Knowledge of maintaining/reparing/general upkeep of a ship.
| Random Facts |
  • Hell of a dancer.
  • Plays a mean pan flute solo.
  • Doesn't hate eating fish, but gets pretty damn sick of them.
  • Loves the smell of sea-salty air.

Leóne Locke | Centos Human

450a9b546bc25237a27c38d219d2fbc6.jpg

Age | 29

Build | Average sized & athletic — 5'11"

Marks & Piercings | Dotted with small scars here and there, nothing too serious other than one burn wound across his lower back.

Profession | Treasure Hunter

Combat class | Rogue: knife specialist and combat mage trickster

Origin | Eclipse City on Lunar Island. Moved south to Stowfort soon after his seventh year.

Background | "Eclipse was amazing. Nothing trumps those amazing views.

Even now after twenty years, every detail about northern auroras are clear. What a shame we moved — even though southern slums developed my talents.

Everything would be different without dad passing. Roughing things would swap with high castle walls, leather with flowing cotton robes, adventure with potion making and training novice mages. Everything would be so damn.... what's the phrase anyway?

Flaming garbage maybe?

Wish you were around these days old man, but your plans were complete shit. Everything is going well down here, see you later rather than sooner I hope"

Leóne was the middle sibling between one older brother and one younger sister. Raised among extreme wealth, neighbors were business tycoons and noblemen who governed Lunar Island. Living here was extremely expensive but Leóne's father covered with his arcane medical business, working under noblemen and the Eclipse King. But when pops passed away the good money dissappeared.

Four months later the struggling Lockes traveled south. Pressed from Eclipse because of high costs, they boarded with uncultured cousins who called the Stowfort Slums home. Once settled, everything became insane immediately. Four related groups swarmed around one slum mansion, and Leóne loved every second. Running streets with cousins and family friends was much more entertaining than learning magic theory with complete nerds. Yeah-yeah Lunar Island was clean with pearlescent walls and smelled nice, but the neighborhood was energetic and adventurous!

Leóne was surrounded by endless drama, occasional violence, constant theft and police escapes. Growing up proper around hooligans, our treasure hunter was hooked on extremes and wanted more excitement than home provided. Turning eighteen he spared zero seconds leaving port, and ever since he's been almost everywhere once. But recently, something focuses the maniac on one specific area.

The Dead Ocean Desert.

Last year the treasure hunter discovered a sealed building below the desert sands. Made from indestructible and seamless metal, only one impenetrable door exists across the enchanted surface. Covered with unknown and indecipherable language, the ornate and lonely entrance refused every advance over the past year. Explosions bounced away, spells refused activation near the building, blades shattered when prying the door — nothing worked and compounding obsession were local rumors about the contents.

Mystics spoke about ancient and priceless technology from before the First Age. Forbidden information about earthy formation. Enchanted items with divine power beyond any other. Advanced weapons technology that would revolutionize combat — Leóne was convinced, and returning to Centos he seeks an expert historian who works around Whaleshell.

But seeing the mission advertisement gives him an even better idea.

1. Find the Wishing Well.
2. Learn how to open the goddamn door.
3. Return to the Dead Ocean
4. Discover something incredible and even more important, destroy an all consuming obsession.

What could possibly go wrong?

Personality

  • Playful & too familiar with people
  • Enigmatic with empathetic and selfish traits intertwined
  • Confident & Arrogant
  • Can be toxic, complaints and sarcasm
  • Socially capable but ignorant
  • Reckless personality
  • Can be flirtatious, keeps it tasteful though
  • Takes turns between stupid and smart
  • Curious and adventurous
  • Loves ancient relics and artificts
  • Interested in history, half because it's interesting and half because historic items make him good money.

Training & Experience | Can speak both common tongue and elven languages. Lacks professional training but knows combat techniques from experience. Was educated in magic during childhood, but lacks skill outside simple combat spells.

Random Facts | Has visited three continents, has one active bounty for trespassing, and owns a collection of first age coins.

These stripes are on his arms, legs, lower torso, entire back, and there are four vertical lines that go up to his two eyes. Kiel Shan | Human

Kuroko.Tetsuya.full.1952762.jpg

Age | 22

Build | 5'8 and slim

Marks & Piercings | Pierced earlobes

Profession | Staff Dancer

Combat class | Staff Fighter Mage

Origin | The Dead Ocean

Background |
A child of one of the desert tribes, Kiel's childhood involved a nomadic life along with his people. He traveled between the few settlements in The Dead Ocean as well as Meridian and Acre Mayab, and his family survived off of trading and offering services of labor. His father was quite skilled in dancing and his mother was quite skilled in magic, so of course he picked up both. It wasn't so much a cause of disappointment but more so worry to his parents when Kiel started mixing the staff dancing his father did with the belly dancing his sister was learning from the other women in the tribe.

Most of the other desert tribes were fairly traditional, and his parents knew he would have issues fitting in. It was a similar situation in Meridian and Acre Mayab, though the higher concentration of people inevitably allowed for some diversity, and small circles which were more accepting. Thankfully his tribe was more liberal, and very much valued taking care of their own, so they started moving more north, and limited their travel between the two major cities.

Unfortunately, this reduced their opportunities for trade and other forms of income, and Kiel took notice of this. Upon reaching the age of 20, he made the difficult decision to split from the tribe. All parties involved were unhappy about this, but his reasoning was sound: they would be able to once again mingle with the rest of the desert tribes while he could find a place where he wouldn't be looked down upon. After a tearful goodbye with his people, Kiel decided to continue even further up north.

He continued to live a meager nomadic life alone, surviving through performing and offering services of magic. There was still some conflict and even physical altercations in his life now, but he was content with it. Despite the issues he had with those outside his tribe growing up and the less frequent issues he has with people he meets currently, he manages to keep a smile on his face and stay positive.

Personality |
Kiel can be described as extremely cheerful and bubbly. He's able to stay positive even in the most dire situations and is always smiling. Sometimes his optimism is to a fault. He believes there is good in everyone and everything, and if someone or something is doing a bad thing, it's for a good reason. He doesn't feel this justify their actions or absolve them of any consequences, but it makes him reluctant to fight unless he needs to. Even during combat his demeanor is always apologetic. If retaliating isn't a necessity he often just avoids his opponents' attacks until they tire out and give up.

Regardless of if he's fighting back or not, he uses battles as a way to put on a show, making each move as if it was choreographed, and casting his magic at optimal times to enhance it. This is especially the case when he's fighting alongside allies, and he'll even go so far as to ask for feedback on his steps from them.

Another flaw of his is being oblivious to when people around him dislike him. This goes so deep that even if someone were to insult him to his face, he would somehow find some good in their statement and take it as a compliment. Luckily for those people, he isn't extremely energetic, attached, or overbearing, but rather extremely relaxed.

His interests, personality, and mannerisms could be considered stereotypically effeminate, but he's happy with them and doesn't mind if others criticize.

Training & Experience | Staff dancing and variations (sword dancing, spear dancing, etc.), elemental magic (water, fire, wind, ice, etc.)

Random Facts | He has some experience with fortune-telling and navigating with the stars. He can craft jewelry and clothing, although it's nothing too impressive.

Gwendolyn Holloway
Human

rp.jpg

Age | 24

Build |Thin but muscular. About 5’7”

Marks & Piercings | Faint freckles along her cheeks

Profession |Mage and Theif

Combat class | Fighter and mage

Origin | Eclipse, Lunar Island

Background | Gwendolyn comes from a noble family that has tight connections with the royal family. She attended the College of Arcane Arts and graduated top of her class, breaking numerous records for education and combat. She grew up as a single child in a home with distant parents who buried their noses in their work. Growing up she heard rumors of a wishing well and was determined to find it. Once she graduated, she sailed to Ocora City to begin her quest to have her wish granted. She wanted to become the most powerful mage in Centos. Maybe even accelerate her path to becoming the queen of Lunar Island. She wandered her way into local taverns and overheard talks of a group forming to find the Well in Whaleshell Port. Gathering her things, she started her long journey to the southern port.

Personality | With a kind smile and bright eyes, Gwendolyn is able to manipulate most people into doing her bidding. She mainly pickpockets money and jewelry from lonely men in the taverns. She doesn't need the money so she just uses the men for practice. She's never been one to be quiet and is always voicing her opinion even when it's not needed. She hides her loneliness with confidence in her skills. Very flirtatious with a smart mouth and is used to getting what and who she wants. She’s always striving to learn something new and become stronger.

Training & Experience | Trained in defensive combat and magic at the College of Arcane Arts but took it upon herself to be trained in offensive combat, thievery, and dark magic outside of class. Graduated at the top of her class as the strongest and smartest mage.

Random Facts | She carries a tall staff that is imbued with magic. The top has sharp spikes that she uses to stab her enemies in combat. She can only release the magic stored in her staff once but must recharge it every time she uses it.

Ayana Eyowen | Forest Elf

20201201_124833.jpg
(Wears a very thin, black cotton shawl during the daytime)
Age | 22

Build | Slender build - 4'5"

Marks & Piercings | Mark of the Divine - A glowing crescent tattoo on her forehead, given to Ayana before embarking on her mission.

Profession | Huntress, warrior, and adventurer.

Combat class | Mage & Archer

Origin | Eloeyn Islands - East of Almas Aleazim

Background | Twenty two years ago, Ayana was born into Hunter House Eyowen. Known for great warriors and seekers, they teach young elves both ranged and arcane techniques after turning four years old. The training is browbeating, often mundane and dreadful but has been effective since the second age when the house was founded. Thousands of premier hunters have been christened since ancient days, and Ayana was pushed down the same path from veteran parents and two older siblings. There was no mercy extended to the youngest daughter who was overworked and overwhelmed, expected to become someone incredible! But would she succeed? Well that depends on who you ask.

Some say Ayana has massive potential, others swear she is blessed by arcane forces and primordial gods. Her obvious aptitude matches her more obvious density, earning Ayana an Idiot Savant reputation from many other elves. Despite social shortcomings she passed exams early after turning nineteen and since then her career path has been butter smooth. Going from street assignments to forest assignments after three years, she climbed from the lowest level of catching petty criminals to the highest level of intercepting massive predators before they attack settlements. Everything was going fantastic!

But then crisis broke. The great Eloeyn forests were fading. Thousand year trees were rotting where they stood, robbed of arcane energy that once sustained them. What caused this creeping death was something never seen before, an unknown arboreal plague that turned healthy trees into hollow, grey husks covered in black parasitic moss patches. Controlled burns were used, plant medicine was applied, symbiotic insects were deployed, shamans were called from across the kingdom but nothing found success. There were no domestic options remaining, and without intervention the forest would pass away. Eloeyn elves would lose their ancestral home and the arcane atmosphere that made them magically predisposed.

So the government gathered hunters to look elsewhere. Rare warriors were chosen based on talent and experience. Then groups were formed and sent across the world with sealed parasitic moss samples. From there they would seek medical men, mages, scientists, master farmers -- everyone and anyone who could cure the kingdom's ailment.

Ayana was considered during the process, but was not among the chosen hunters. Elders respected her talent but experience lacked and after being rejected she spent daytime sleepless, enraged about her young age preventing mission acceptance. Of course the elders placated non-selects with nonsense words of "you're needed at home to protect the villages" - but those were placations. Ayana was a hunter, saving elves was in the damn job description! There was no way she would rest easy back home! Packing bags she prepared to leave, but right before heading out an Eyowen Clan shaman arrived unannounced. He explained visions from the day before that revealed her departure in advance, and that her mission was "meant to be" based on some mysterious and possibly schizophrenic voices. Then he offered her a boon -- a simple tattoo called Mark of the Divine. Blessing travelers with luck, these outdated tattoos were rarely given anymore but Ayana felt connected to the idea and accepted his offer.

After several hours enduring harsh needlework, her marking was complete. Thanking the shaman she darted from home and made haste towards a small human trading outpost on the shore. Buying passage to Whaleshell Port she would arrive weeks later and see advertisements for Finding the Wishing Well. Ayana knew about the legendary device and how anything someone desired could be accomplished. Finding the well would cure the forest and Ayana would earn her spot among the elves again. Chances were small but she was drawn by fate, coming across a relevant mission after landing couldn't be pure luck. This was divine ordinance.

Plus Ayana was desperate.

She rushed from home so fast her oaths were forgotten and well.... she was now AWOL. Without returning an epic savior she would never return again. Not only was this a battle to save her people, it was a battle against eternal exile.

Background | Obsidian awoke one day at the base of Mt. Helka, a volcano on the Stone Shores islands, with no memory of a name, a home, or a family. As she gathered her bearings and made her way into town she had sudden recollection of a legend about a golem: It was built and stored at the base of a volcano, and was to be awakened when it was needed by its people. Soon after, she discovered her proficiency with earth magic, and started to believe the story was about her. Believing the townsfolk nearby were her people, she tried her best to make herself useful and serve them. The humans of Stone Shores thought she was insane, but welcomed her help when it came to tasks of physical labor. She was given the name Obsidian by them, because her dark skin was polished and lustrous like the gem.

Eventually she found the work at Stone Shores unfulfilling, and believed that the legend supposedly about her alluded to a greater need than hauling fish. She ended up sailing away from Stone Shores to the mainland of Centos and continued southwards and inwards. During her travels she helped individuals who needed some extra muscle, whether it was for moving cargo or for protection, and came to hear another legend, about the Well of Wishes. She then sought to find this mythical well in hopes of finding out about her past and her purpose. Most recently, Obsidian's travels have brought her to Whaleshell Port.

Personality | Quiet, inquisitive, patient, blunt, ignorant

Training & Experience | Earth magic involving conjuring and environment manipulation, hand to hand combat, fishing, cooking fish

Random Facts |
- For some reason, during her travels, people have been saying she is not a golem but a stone elf. She has only seen stone elves in paintings and illustrations, and although their skin tone is often a dark, earthy color, she has never seen one whose skin is as dark and lustrous like hers.

- Her hair is abrasive, like the gold strands of volcanic glass which can be seen at the base of volcanoes. This, to her, is another reason why she must be a golem crafted from the earth. Coincidentally, abrasive hair, even if it is in different shades, is also a trait common among stone elves.

- Her eyes look to be glazed over white, but she has no vision problems. They shine various colors in the light like opals. The gem-like nature of her eyes is another reason she believes she's a golem, but eyes like these are also sometimes seen among stone elves.

Salazar Stark - Human

Darth Stark.jpg

Age | 30

Build | Muscular but not athletic, more lean than buff - 5'8" for 158lbs

Marks and Piercings | Right hand ripped off three inches above the wrist

Profession | Adventurer, Wandering Priest

Combat Class | Conjurer, Hand-to-hands fighter

Origin | Somewhere around the Whitepeak Ruins

Background | "My parents were worshipers of ancient idols, giving prayers to the night and offering blood to the earth. They thought those meager gifts could appease the hunger of ravenous godheads. They prayed, giving little and receiving little, but steadily growing. And then they thought they could make a god cower. It would have been magnificent had it succeeded... But gods are things that men are not meant or made to understand, let alone command or bring to heel. I still remember the screams, and then the unnatural silence that followed. At that time, we lived in a sorta shack near the ruins, and the screams woke me up. I felt the power in the air, and I knew that my parents weren't the only ones screaming, because our place was like half a mile from the tower. I was running, I knew I should not go, but I was like thirteen, and stupid. When I arrived, I did not know where I was. I had gone blind, the impossible shape of what stood there etched into my retinae like acid on iron. I haven't forgotten that either. But the thing... It was there, and not there. I tried to push past. Once, twice, thrice... It took my hand, and I felt the claws and the fangs tearing into the flesh. Somehow I had gone through, I knew it. The air inside the tower was strange. Very clean, very still, but not normal. There was no smell of ash or blood, no scent of fear. Only a strange musk, soft and wet, but trembling. The odor of a beast holding back on itself to not scare off a prey. I was afraid, because I could feel the power thrumming in the air. Only fools are not afraid, fools like my parents, because they don't look at the path and don't see the crevices until they stumble and fall, breaking their skull laughing at the sky. I didn't laugh. I didn't look up. I walked forward, burned blind eyes aimed towards the darkness, and the darkness swallowed me. I saw /

/ And then I was spit out. One truth had been etched into my mind. "Fools try to bring the Night to heel to imprint their will on the world. If you seek the power of the Night, you must let yourself be molten in its crucible and reforged through it. The Night isn't a power wielded, it is a power borne." Now... Now I wander the land as a hierophant of Night, lending my help and giving my advice to those who seek them. I have heard the tales of the well of wishes, and if I can get its power... let there be Night."

Personality | Easygoing, but can switch to brutal and unforgiving in the blink of an eye.

Training & Experiences | Has a very keen sense of touch/smell/hearing due to being blind. Illiterate but cannot read anyway. Uses magic to echolocate through whistling in ultrasounds. "Blind master" type of fighter, uses magic to make weapons where his right hand should be.

Random Facts | He can see and sense magic, but nothing else. The darker the surroundings, the keener this sense. In complete darkness, he can see the souls of living beings.

  • [Kuma | Ber’Matu]
Template courtesy of Beta-Type-Jakuri of DeviantArt

    Age | 21

Build | Typically presents as lean but muscular, imitates the height of those around her.

Appearance | As a Berkkag Matugan1, Kuma is a could be considered a shape shifter, her gelatinous body able to solidify, harden and morph. She has two legs and five eyes. She is a racial blend of Syaani and Keltainen, causing her skin to be a dark Turkish blue. She has compound eyes, with many ommatidia2, making them large for most of her faces. She'd prefer to go barefoot, her feet having 3 toes and small bumps to provide traction. Her horns curl inwards, about 5 inches long. She has Gelatin Oki, black holes which absorb sound, along her arms, neck and cheeks. Her natural form lacks lips, ears or hair, though to appease others, she will grow them.

Her clothing is usually dark, covering a majority of her skin. Most of the fabrics are thin, allowing her skin to breathe and to mitigate the heat.

Profession | Tanaka of the house of Scpero; Searching to learn Necromancy, or something similar; Does odd jobs as needed

    Combat class | Alchemist

Origin | Ruligark -- Sect of Kukumita

Background | Believing his blessing produced the best Tanakas, the sacoro of Kukumita brand each child with a rune at birth. This opens a connection between the infant and all animals. Raised in a communal nursery, these children are watched by bonded animals as often as Matu. This way, they learned the tongues of beasts and Qulõai simultaneously. Though they have few familial ties, their dame’s are acknowledged through their names, taken from the mother’s first bondmate. The focus on creating a pack bond between the children is prominent, with most supporting each other if defense is needed between houses.

Training begins after 13 years old, which is believed to be when one forms a solid enough sense of self. While physical training happens, their strongest aim is to bond with animals. The bond merges the two souls, giving traits to each. This usually limits predatory behavior, but occasionally some who have bonded will break from their mates, returning to their violent nature. While it is rare, this is taken as a norm, the will of Kukumita. Those who are mentally weak will lose themselves within the animal’s mind, but if Kukumita is appeased, they share the strengths of the animal. Bonds are typically formed in their later teens after much preparation, as youth who attempt it rarely survive.

This is where Kuma differed. At reaching 8 years of age, she spontaneously bonded with her rat, Nezumi. Seen as a sign from Kul, as the latest plague ended near the time of her birth, her training switched from focusing on the physical to that of chaos magic. This requires a broad open mind, to see the possibilities of each instance.

At 18 years of age, she was assigned to the house of Scpero. She is aware the Lord is considering the option of adding Kul’s blessing to her House. She feels that ignoring her Chosen will bring misfortune onto the house, but is still wary of her inclusion. Therefore she was assigned to the protection of her cousin’s younger son. Strong with the way of words, he often traveled to negotiate trade routes. She accompanied him, Nezumi allowing him to gain more information to smooth the talks, while she protected him. Evidently one of the parties was displeased more than they had realized--Kuma isn’t sure who--cursed him. His Hokwin has cracked, but does not seem to be healing. His gelatinous body has disappeared, so she is fairly sure he is dead. No, he's dead. Frustratingly, completely dead.

Though she yearns to return to her pack, she cannot return having failed. Her punishment would be too severe. Any punishment would. Therefore, she is looking for a way to revive him. From necromancy to this wishing well, she is open to anything.

Personality | Quick-witted, resourceful, she’s smart but lacks courage. She often watches hidden from view, absorbing any information and keeping an eye out for any opportunities. Her strongest trait is likely her pragmatism.

    Training & Experience |

    • Education:
      • Strong foundation in reading and math with a focus on trade
      • Diplomacy through observation
    • The bond: Nezumi the rat
      • Permits communication across distances
      • Shared vision--their connection is almost always open, but occasionally she forgets to multitask, focusing on Nezumi’s discovery
      • Theoretically knows how to create another bond; which is common with the Kukumitans, but she hasn’t attempted it
    • Magic:
      • Chaos Magic--need to work out what that is.
      • Basic Elemental
      • Alchemy
    • Physical
      • Bo staff
    Random Facts |
    • Her mother is infamous for bonding with a bear; hence the name Kuma
    • Some might consider her a bit of a liar, but she’s simply willing to say whatever the listener would prefer
    • When shifting, her eyes and skin color do not change
    1.
    Ber'Matu
    Species: Berkkag Matugan / Ber'Matu
    berku- shape, ag- twist/boundless

    General
The Berkkag are a species of Matugna that exist on the islands south of Ruligark, mainly due to its cold environment fitting their needs. They are a species with genetic ties to the Aggoyan, Viscids/ slime people. As a result they are capable of unique anatomical feats despite their primary forms being bipedal.

    Appearance
    • Bodies: Males and females possess similar body types. The Berkkag do not have any extreme ways of differencing gender, the primary way of differentiating is through the voice. Males and females both possess lithe figures, two arms, five eyes, and are racially defined based on the colors listed at the top of the page. Jawline can be an indicator of gender:
      • Males: Tend to have sharper jaws or square faces, slightly larger eyes.
      • Females: Tend to have rounder or more oval shaped faces. Slightly smaller eyes

    • Eye Compounds: The eyes of the Berkkag do not possess irises or pupils. They are more akin in appearance to compound eyes, with a brilliant glow
    • Tridactyl: Have three toes on their feet, and project minor bumps across their soles, capable of allowing them to maintain traction on ice or act as a padding that gives them traction on snow.
    • Lipless: The Berkkag do not have lips of any sort. However with their shapeshifting abilities it is not impossible for them to mimic the features of man and create lips and tongues.
    • Horns: They possess two minor horns on their foreheads.
    • Semi-Gelatinous Morphology: The Berkkag are capable of altering their forms due to the fact their bodies are made up of a gelatinous liquid that can solidify, harden, change forms or alter its shape.
    • Hokwin: The core. The core of the Berkkag is a small, golf ball sized organ that is logged in the chest or forehead. It is the central nervous system of the Berkkag and their heart, is extremely durable and capable of healing itself if cracked. It controls the gelatinous state of the Berkkag's form and requires cold temperatures else it will slow the shifting abilities the Berkkag possess and make them more lethargic. This core controls everything about the Berkkag.
    • Gelatin Oki: Are black holes that dot the arms, neck, and leave a triangle on the cheeks. These holes transmit and receive sound. Sending soundwaves to the Hokwin.
    • Height Average: 5ft - 5'7
    • Biological Necessities: Digest food with their slime. Are prone to being lethargic in heat. The Hokwin they possess will turn make them colder to adjust for temperatures.
    • Ovoviviparous Reproduction: Do possess genitalia, but it is hidden within their bodies. Their offspring are developed through eggs that develop within the body and have a gestation period of 3 to 4 months.

[ Amalia Winters - Human]

knight1.jpgknight2.jpg

Age | 30

Build | 5'10" Muscular

Marks & Piercings | Several scars on her body from accidents while training

Profession | Former Marsh Gates Knight

Combat class | Swords-woman

Origin | Marsh Gates

Background | Amalia was actually born male, and given the name Marcus. Like all the youth who grow up in The Marsh Gates, she was indoctrinated into the beliefs that their military was the most prestigious group to belong to, and that everyone should aspire to serve when they grow up. Although she was not opposed to serving, the culture emphasized masculinity and toughness among boys and men, and those expectations did not feel right for her. Despite this, fearing being ostracized, she did what was expected of her. After ten years she had moved up in the ranks and earned the position of Commander. Around this time is when she started hearing stories about the Well of Wishes. Although most were treated as fairy tales, some people did indeed believe there was truth behind them. Perhaps it was due to finding hope for a better future, or perhaps it was because she felt as if she had wasted so much of her life living as someone else, Amalia found herself believing them too. This led her to open up to those around her about how she truly felt before leaving The Marsh Gates on her quest to find the Well. Sadly, as she expected, this indeed brought about the scorn of her family and colleagues, and she found herself practically banished from her previous life. Now she travels alone, taking on jobs as a sell-sword and bodyguard on her journey in order to survive, with the goal of finding the Well and wishing to appear to everyone else as the woman she feels she is inside.

Personality | Due to feeling self-conscious about her appearance and voice, Amalia is very quiet. She rarely takes off her armor around people, and only really speaks if a verbal response is necessary. Her fear of being judged prevents her from correcting people when they mislabel her as a man, unless it's someone she trusts and/or is going to be traveling with for awhile. Despite her trepidation in terms of opening up about herself, she is happy to hear about others' lives, stories, and feelings, and help resolve issues they are going through any way she can. Even among people she deems trustworthy and is friendly with, she often withdraws when the self-directed anger and sadness about how she has lived life and is still living life come up.

Training & Experience | [Amalia is an expert swords-woman due to years of training and on field experience. She is skilled with medicine as well and can administer emergency first aid when necessary. Her temper is calm and her thoughts are rational, allowing her to have a tactical advantage on the battlefield. Her experience in combat on various terrain also allow her to incorporate the environment into strategy.

Random Facts | To express herself and have a somewhat feminine appearance, she adorns her armor with beautiful ornaments, and even sometimes wears dresses

Her face beneath the armor:

  • Stone.jpgAge | 35

Build | Lean, but with the unmistakable appearance muscles in his arms and legs hidden beneath black fur.

    Height | 6' 1"

Combat class | Close Combat Brawler

    Origin | Southern Continent

Ability | Capable of hiding his presence in a magic sense.

Items | Magic conch, use currently unknown

Background | Dig this out your characters' selves! He is not one to reveal his past, so it may take a lot to dig it out. Any tidbit learned by your characters will get this updated. Though, he would reveal how he came to joining the quest for the Wishing Well.

Taking care of business in Stowfort, he had stopped in at the Champion's Lodge. Thus was where he heard the announcement for the Well's quest. As expected, practically everyone laughed. Not Stone. Though, he hadn't signed up immediately. He waited until he saw the organizer leave to sign up. Once the party had met up, there were very few party members. Needless to say, this organizer was much less successful at recruitment compared to his counterpart, Richard.

Personality | Stone is outwardly a gentleman. Though, he can easily become distracted or excited about particular... instances. He will have an extremely difficult time talking about anything to do with his past, and not liking to be a hypocrite, will not ask other's their past either. As long as the conversation doesn't have anything to do with poking into his life, he is a moderate talker.

Training & Experience | He is inherently sneaky, on top of his ability for further hiding his presence. He was self-trained at first.

Random Facts | He will not ride on horseback. Stone respects animal life, and will not kill for the sport of it. When it comes to hunting, he prefers to go solo, as humans tend to not understand Momerki ways of the hunt. He does not like when his food is touched.

Age | 19

Build | Athletically Lean, 6ft

Marks & Piercings | Rather obvious freckles over his nose

Profession | Survivor (Street-orphan

Combat class | Trickster-Mage/Rogue

Origin | High Harbor

Background | He never knew his parents. Cliche, but his first memory was of the orphanage - and the cruel mistress of the place. When he was seven, her debts caught up to her and the orphanage was closed down. They had to learn to survive through any means necessary; Jace was a natural at it, and soon came under the tutelage of an accomplished rogue. For years he stole to provide for the younger kids, as well as the sick of the city. Of course, this did make him unpopular to the rich. The hunt was on for him now, but he would stay one step ahead - and never forgot to sent a stipend back to his family in the city.

Personality | Gentle and quiet when off the job, even a bit timid. When he, or those he cares about, is threatened he will not hesitate to fight back. Life is about survival for him - he only takes what he and his family needs to survive. (Not that it gained him any more respect from the wealthy)
