Fantasy Welcome to the Rangers: Lore

Races of Niro

Humans
5aec60fc26fd9cdfff88efccabf14744.jpgHumans are considered one of the most fragile races considering that they have one of the smallest lifespans in all Niro that being 70 for males and females. They don't really stand out in strength or intelligence. Other species mainly elves, say that humans are the epitome of 'evolutionary mediocrity' in which humans have no unique traits to speak of except their diversity and adaptability to different positions. In Niro, humans fill all occupations imaginable and usually have no sense of pride for their species unlike elves or orcs who are proud with their species heritage and traditions.

Humans are also the most populated race and this is almost entirely due to their desire to breed and expansionism as they were the only sentient beings to settle in Western and Northern Niro. Humans were keen on discovery and colonization allowing them to establish new cultures and technologies and populating at a rapid pace. The diverse cultures of humans have lead to worship different deities, however most humans worship the Deity of Human Creation, Alsa.

Most if not all of technology that Niro use is all made of humans. However this technology had revolved around logistics, agriculture, entertainment, home appliances, and industrialization.

In terms of magic, it is very rare for humans to inherit magical abilities however they are quick learners and are bound to use magic effectively.

Elves
Elves are the self-proclaimed immortals of Niro due to their 200 year life-span, affinity for all types of magic, learning, and wisdom. Not all elves have diverse skillets like humans do and are quicker learners than humans, learning a lot of new skills and concepts at a young age. Elves are the most populated minority race however the majority of them hold a huge superiority complex above the other races of Niro, making them xenophobic, classist, and racist. Of course not all elves hold a superiority complex. Elves who grow up in diverse areas are more accepting of other species and creeds and make great educators and advisers. There are three known races of Elves.

a6a6a9de6c1d56680ec1a6745d46dbb7--character-concept-character-ideas.jpg
High elves are the most populated ones and their culture is blanketed to all of elven culture. They were traditionally known as the Cantar, but they have embraced the title of High Elf in order to seem more civilized and modernized. These are the ones who give all the elves a bad name. They are the most proud of their heritage and have a lot of technological advances to show for it (though most of their inventions have been drafted or improved upon by humans, dwarves, and other elves). Considering they control the most powerful kingdom in all of Niro, the Kingdom of Varya they sometimes meddle with the affairs of other nations. They look up to those of their people who take up politics, finance, science, academia, literature, and art. Those who aren't fortunate enough to have such positions are usually seen as outcasts.

They are conniving and deceptive which makes them superb for politics, diplomacy, unconventional warfare and finance. Which makes it hard to trust a high elf but that doesn't mean they're always out to get you.

They have no concept of romantic love or sexual desire as their culture is based off of marriage contracts and 'breeding rituals.' Which is usually why you see adultery between high elves and other elves, or sometimes other races.

They are entirely religious as they praise the elven father god, Himar for blessing them with their 'superior genes' to give an informal term.

ming-ren-the-wood-elf-and-fennec-fox-final.jpgThe wood elves are to be the most traditional race who go by their traditional race name, Sondar. They are viewed as the polar opposite of their high elf counterparts who intentionally reject their traditional race name. The Sondar are distinguishable by their red hair and fairer skin tones. In the past, the Sondar have rejected civilization however due to the rapid modernization of Niro, a large number of the Sondar had adapted to the way the world was changing.

The Sondar's tradition is closely connected to that of nature and so their civilization was built to be harmonious with nature. They don't have big cities, but townships and rely heavily on geothermal energy.

Sondars are good at living off the land and know general knowledge of the continent and even more about their homeland, Yallion. Thus they make trusted guides, hunters, and surveyors. They are also skilled in the natural sciences.

Not all Sondars live under modern civilization, in fact many keep to their small patches of land that are protected by the civilized Sondar in order to sustain the connection between them and nature, praising the elven goddess of creation, Masala. Thus unlike their Cantar relatives, they embrace sexuality and romantic relationships seeing it as one of nature.

They are still viewed as savages by the Cantar and thus the two aren't on good terms which have been a huge factor to their isolation, they don't allow immigration and only certain outsiders entry and aren't really involved in international politics. Which does cause the other species to have their suspicions and only few have nice things to say about them.

9b5c8c1b091a6fab7eac86dc6194c07a.jpgThe grey elves or the Undar as they call themselves are the militant race of elves. Growing up in Linsenor, they were surrounded by the orcs and the Cantar, both of which wanted to take over their kingdom. They've had a history of being enslaved and raided until they learned to defend themselves through hardcore military training drills. They respect honor, strength, and fraternity. Due to being victims of invasions they never had the chance to make committed relations with outsiders.

On top of that, most undergo training in the ways of combat and military strategy. The weak are usually outcasted and similar to the Cantar, they don't take kind to doesn't find themselves as a warrior, a military officer, or anyone who doesn't commit to improving the strength of the Undar people.

Most other grey elves find themselves working as mercenaries and learn to lighten up from their traditions. In fact many Undar have left the worn torn kingdom and similar to humans, are not afraid to have a diverse set of skills. Thus they are considered to be most open minded race of elves, but by a slim margin. Given that there are only few grey elves living outside of Linsenor.

They are self sustainable and very protectionist, similar to their Sondar relatives by allowing specific individuals within their borders. They praise the elven warrior god, Endral.

Dwarves
dnddwarfevawidermann.jpg
Dwarves are not to be trifled with. Their lifespan is 150 years but you won't hear them brag about it like the elves do. They aren't all fertile which is they don't populate as fast. Additionally they stand at 4 feet on average and they aren't too good at practicing magic. But they are strong warriors and bright innovators, Niro can thank them for their advances in medicine, agriculture, engineering, construction, applied science, energy, architecture and assistive technology.

Dwarves have a hard time lying as it is a natural part of their physiology, making them loyal and trustworthy. Also since they started underground in the mountains, they can see easily in the dark and know everything about all of Niro's minerals by simply living near them. Because they haven't lived near fertile land, they've had to create technology to keep them alive, such as learning how to grow crops in the mountains.

Because dwarves aren't too well versed in international politics and commerce, they are very open to outsiders to help set up these infrastructures. Also many skilled dwarves have made themselves a living as engineers and innovators beyond their home in Durin.

They have strong affinity for family and friends, sticking up for those close to them and always willing to share some home-brewed dwarven mead.

Orcs
3237e7252418ed166937aa47f2a51e61.jpg
Orcs are also 'fragile' as documented by elves for having a lifespan of 40 years on average. But they are one of the toughest and meanest races in all of Niro. They weigh between 270-600 lbs and are the last race you'd want to pick a fight with.

Orcs thrive of off conflict and are viewed as the barbarians or the greenskins. They were confined to their homeland of Zogbor, a humid and marshy region of Niro. Warring tribes always fought against one other, sometimes for resources, other times just because they wanted to. While the elves held a strong affinity to racism, the orcs have an affinity towards tribalism. They hate each other more than they do other races and it has lead to them being extorted by the humans and the elves since before the tribes united. They are the strongest race with the greatest mass, and mass was a huge determining factor of status in orcish society. Didn't matter if you were buffed or overly obese, size mattered to the orcs.

Many would consider their culture a mix between undar and dwarven. They value camaraderie and strength, even those whose who are deemed the weak. As long as an orc committed themselves to the tribe and family, were they respected in orcish society. Each orc tribe has a tribal deity but they all also worship the Chief God of the orcs, Agzark.

Fae
cc522ac6072b21e5ceca1dcbd4512d60.jpg
Fae are also self proclaimed immortals who live up to the ripe old age of 175. They are born with magical abilities, which is why if you want to learn magic, going to a fae would be ideal. But fae are also a conservative race who are isolationist and don't like interaction with outsiders. Because of their ability to fly, they always see themselves as the most sophisticated and superior of races. They don't always engage in foreign affairs unless it threatens their homeland. They don't like relying on technology too much but they do use magic with technology to enhance its effects. For instance generators that are powered by heat can usually be powered by a fire spell of sorts.

In a progressing world where tradition changes, many fae are curious of the outside world and if they hide their wings really well, they can pass as humans, from a distance at least. Fae have two different color pupils and are bright colors as well.

Outside their homeland of Lilonead, fae find themselves in the human nations usually living as middle class citizens into an abundance of professions as private citizens.

Vampires
Vampyr_dontnod_focus_home_interactive_alsdknas.jpg-590x334.png
Vampires are a menace in Niro, they have a sizable presence and everyone knows that they exist. Most if not all vampires want to consume and turn all living beings on Niro into vampires as is the will of the Deity Vampire Lord, Varus. They are skilled in the dark arts of magic and are immortal. They have heightened senses, can bring the dead back to life, control the blood of another being, have superhuman strength and can run faster than another being. However they aren't entirely immune to bullets or blades and they hate being in the sun. They adapt to modern technology to help them thrive.

Vampires either live in castle towns that have been preserved for thousands of years, in pacts wandering for prey, or alone feeding on their victims.

They make popular serial killers as they hide in the dark always knowing when to strike. Skilled hunters and stalkers they make. Everyone would be wise to avoid a vampire stronghold or gang. They usually dwell in Lavonia but almost rarely will you see them across Niro. Almost.

Werewolves
1e37dc63494b1f078a587e9318842eff.jpg

Werewolves are the night terrors, mainly of humans. They posses high strength and endurance and are almost impossible to kill. In the years of Creation, the Deity of Hunt, Lycan blessed a group of humans with were blood. These humans had evolved to live in packs until called upon for the Hunt. Packs of werewolves will rush the lands of Niro, hunting for all living things that they come across. They are the mortal enemies of vampires as they want to bring an end to the Hunt by turning everyone into vampires, making them near impossible to kill for a werewolf. Those who don't participate in the hunt are stripped of their were blood and targeted for the next hunt. However they still possess select abilities of werewolves such as regeneration, night vision and superhuman hearing and were referred to as ex-weres.

Beastfolk

The beastfolk are humanoid creatures that have the characteristics of animals. They have the same lineage of humans and act like humans with the same lifespan and philosophy. They all come from the region of East Wood and have stayed there since the dawn of Creation, but many generations of beastfolk find themselves in human centric areas. The beastfolk always look after each other and those with similar characteristics are confined to tribes. The Bani's are the rabbit people, the Astay are the fox people, Fawns are the horned and goat legged, and the Nyabi are the cat people.

Beastoid (NPC)

TotalWarWarhammer2_Skaven.jpgLizardfolk_mm5e.jpg088e007580900c29af083c04ca277f01--fantasy-team-dark-fantasy.jpg

Beastoids, are considered the proper savages of Niro. They're anthropomorphic, tribal, and have no connection to the outside. They dwell in small patches away from civilization across Niro, the Rodids (rats) for the most part live underground. The Skavians (lizards) and Rodids are the average height of a human. Then there are the Gor's (minotaurs) who stand at 8 ft, the tallest beings of all of Niro.

The Rangers
Screen Shot 2020-01-07 at 9.27.56 AM.png
The standard uniform of the Rangers is derived from the uniform of the RSS except their emblems are replaced with those of the Rangers. The standard uniform is olive drab along with a netted helmet or a beret. Bush hats and tam o' shanters pay homage to the foundation of the RSS given its roots in Bother and Albian culture and are often reserved for those of Bother and Albian descent. The standard weapon is either a rifle or a sub machine-gun if you already don't come with your own weapons. Special training is needed for light machine guns. For all contracts, all rangers are deployed in squads of 5 - 10.

Standard Weapons

If the ranger doesn't enlist with weapons of their own, these are what they'll most likely get. Provided by the Rangers Weaponsmiths.

Nexus Base
Engelbrecht-estate.jpg

The Rangers are established in the United Republic as a legal business. Their main base is called The Nexus and is the main headquarters for all Ranger operations in Niro, acting as a major communication and operations hub for all Ranger strongholds. New recruits train and live here until they pass their training and are able to leave the base but only when on contract. Nexus was originally called Fenrock Manor and was occupied by a member of the Fenrock Family, a noble family that existed before the fall of the Kingdom Tetora. Located just outside the capital of the Republic and biggest commercial hub in Niro, Godrok. The Rangers occupied it and restored it as their headquarters and it currently houses 200 Rangers. Nexus is heavily fortified with sentries and defenses ready to fight attackers if need be. The Nexus also contains a speakeasy, barracks, gun range, mess hall, gymnasium, library, gunsmith and research lab.

Human Nations

United Republic
600px-Flag_of_the_British_Republic.svg.png

The successor power to the Kingdom of Tetora, the most powerful kingdom ruled by humans on top of being the most diverse nation in Niro.
There's a noticeable amount of elves, orcs, and fees living amongst the Humans. The city of Godrok acts as the capital and is the biggest port city in the whole continent. The whole international economy revolves around the UR and if the market was to crash, it would affect the rest of Niro. In fact the only currency that exists in Niro are toran dollars, the Republican currency and sometimes shortened to just dollars. The reason for its economic dominance was because their infrastructure was provided and developed by Tetora including, huge cities, an organized network of road and rail, and industrial labor infrastructures. This influenced a lot of immigrants into the Republic, increasing development and economic engagement. Given their economic dominance, many nations rely on them solely as trade partners.

Their government is a federal representative republic with a checks and balance system. Their legislation is the bicameral Republican Parliament with a multiparty system, the upper house being the Senate and the lower house being the District Representatives. Their executive is the Office of the President and they handle the day to day operations of the country and is assisted by the Prime Minister and the Republican Ministries. The judicial branch is the Republican Court and is superior to all local and provincial courts, they hold judicial review and can strike down directives by the President.

The UR runs on a federal model with the Republican Government holding superiority of the 5 provinces and their local governments. This includes Tetora, Albion, Heston, Syra, and Marianland. Each province has their own local government and laws but federal laws apply as well and overrule conflicting laws with the province.

Minjeong
9d5b752172cdbb5457990c65eb591b0a.png

Minjeong kept itself out of the affairs of Niro and have been able to maintain self rule for thousands of years under their Emperor, but eventually due to outside intervention by the Kingdoms of Varya and Tetora was extorted for nearly a century and the Emperor held little to no power. Thus revolution was necessary to get the outsiders out of their country. The Min people as they were called split into separate factions, the Revolutionaries who wanted to abolish the Imperial government, introduce democratic reform and change the status quo, and the Imperials who wished to preserve and serve the throne. The Imperials had control of the manufacturing, transportation networks of Minjeong, a professional army and foreign aid but the Revolutionary army was mobile and versatile which made them hard to pin down. The Min waged a war of attrition by destroying infrastructure and raiding military targets and eventually the Tetorans and Varyans abandoned Minjeong and the nation fell to the Revolutionaries.

They are home to an abundance of resources and have peaked in agricultural technology making their nation the food capital of the world. They are also an entirely export based economy and are known for their technological innovation in home appliances and entertainment. Southwestern Minjeong region called Hanjo is more rural region and its mostly due to the amount of spiritual importance it has for the Min people, it is home to monasteries, small townships where, and the most beautiful landscape in Niro.

Iron Legion of Humanity
wrmiM4X.png

At the time of Tetora's rule, central Niro was made of smaller human states and were run by a variety of ethnic groups who always fought with each other over resources and land until the Tetorans invaded and all the states became provinces under the Tetoran Kingdom. The states were merged into provinces and provinces were formed by ethnic majority making them easier to govern. These ethnicities were the Zudens, Pensulés, and the Vakalan. Many of these people made the bulk of the Tetoran Royal Army through conscription and the wars with the orcs and the elves lead to a lot of dead young men and eventually an economic recession occurred. The central provinces got the brunt of it and outrage and riot ensued. A terroristic paramilitary came to prominence, the Iron Legion. Made of veterans and nationalists, they preached idea of a Human Central Niro identity and the recession caused a boost in their recruitment. Tetora saw them as nothing but a few upstarts and the downplaying of the situation allowed them to consolidate their power until majority of the Zuden people backed the Iron Legion, forcing the Tetorans to intervene militarily. But the Iron Legion was a disciplined military at this point and while they weren't a match for the RSS, they obliterated the Royal Army in conventional warfare.

Tetora pulled out of Central Niro the Legion took over the entire region. The Iron Legion turned Central Niro into a militaristic totalitarian state. The Chancellor-General is the sole head of state and is advised by a military and political council. The Legion divides the regions into military zones run by a Governor-General and Legion officials own political, cultural, scientific, industrial, financial and infrastructural institutions. The Zudens are the ruling class while the Pensulés and Vakalan are second class citizens. People from Tetora, now the United Republic are oppressed minorities along with any orcs and elves who moved into the region. Anyone who defies the Legion is sentenced to hard labor or execution depending on the decision by the Justice-General and the Legionnaire Court.

Federation of Communes
pd3rdstjjom11.png

Eastern Niro was never touched by man until large amount of humans, specifically Albions as they've always been the black sheep of Tetora with a culture that they've preserved even when they were forced into union with the four provinces of the Kingdom. Their cause of emigration was the recession and as work became scarce, a lot of Albions left the Kingdom of Tetora. They wouldn't be take into Minjeong, Nordland or Botherland as they were dealing with the recession as well and Central Niro was in no way habitable for Albions. They eventually made their way into Eastern Niro and the region Kathria. Kathria was full of townships, a lot of orc refugees, made of small orc clans moved to Kathria away from the war torn Zogbor and when the Albion settlers arrived, the clans aided the Albions.

The Albions were provided the resources necessary to set up their own townships and a feeling of camaraderie was established. They formed philosophies on self determination and liberty. Kathria was divided into municipal communes, some were either orc or human while others did have mixed populations. At the same time dwarves had traveled Niro to spread knowledge of their engineering and many found themselves in Kathria a new generation of dwarves was raised there. Fae moved to Kathria as well to open the first multiracial magic school. All the establishments of Niro were owned democratically by the workers and each workplace was under a commune who voted for a commissar to represent them in the Communal Assembly who oversees the legislative affairs of Kathria and an Executive Officer who acts as the head of the federation who is advised by the communal assembly. There are committees who work in conjunction with the Assembly to handle military, health, education, energy, housing, transportation, financial, and a number of other concerns. Kathria became the Federation of Communes and is informally known as the Commune.

Nordland
flag_of_the_kingdom_of_skyrim__nineteenth_era__by_prussiabrony22_dbnkbee-pre.jpg

Nordland like Minjeong was closed off like and was heavily concerned into what was going on inside its borders. Nordland was divided into small kingdoms and warred with each other until they united under the Unifier Queen Alisia Vaegyr and the Kingdom of Nordland was established. But the unification didn't end the conflict and civil war was a common occurrence under Alisia's rule and soon all opposition was crushed. The Vaegyr dynasty would rule Nordland for 3 decades until their rule was finally contested once more by rebelling Jarls who were supported by Tetora after they took over Central Niro and gave them military aid and supplies. After a 2 year civil war, the Vaegyr dynasty collapsed and a Pro-Tetoran ruler was installed in Nordland. Unfair trade deals were established and Nords were sometimes conscripted into the Tetoran Royal Army.

As the Iron Legion kicked the Tetorans out of Central Niro, the Nords once more went to war with itself and Nordland was free from Tetoran rule. They were independent and thanks to the modernized infrastructure provided by Tetora, Nordland was more connected and a single Nord identity was established. They fought off the Iron Legion more times than they could count and are some of the fiercest warriors in Niro. Nordland is a constitutional monarchy and their monarch holds significant political power. They select the Prime Minister and offer counsel, the Commander-in-chief of the Royal Forces, is to be notified of a hung parliament and the deals between political parties to form coalitions, and can officiate a vote of no confidence against the PM if they don't reside.

After all the conflict Nords have gone through, all Nords no matter their creed always look out for each other and are tightly knit.

Botherland
Screen Shot 2020-01-16 at 5.19.55 PM.png

Botherland was the frontier of Human expansion eastwards and many pioneers were often compensated for their travels to set up a homestead and live their for at least a year and become landowners. It was perfect for human settlement given that it was nothing but plains and rivers running through it. It wasn't really called Botherland at the time and instead was called 'The Frontier' and it was pretty telling when it was discovered that there were already small villages with inhabitants that were already native to the land, the Chekwani. The settlers formed militias and had taken over the entire frontier with the natives under their rule. There was enough people for the frontier to be named a territory and so the nation was named Botherland. Cause no one gave a bother for them except the 'th' is a soft sound unlike the hard 'th' in 'the.'

Botherland became an important food colony for the Kingdom and it wasn't new to see the Bother Colonial government sending in troops to straight up steal food from farmers so they can be sent back to the Kingdom, on top of that the Chekwani people were put on reserves and were treated as second class citizens by the colonial government. Riots and strikes were pretty common and there were a few attempted rebellions but were immediately put down. However thanks to the Iron Legion, cutting Botherland from Tetora weakened the colonial government and a new government was put in place which was of Bother home rule. They would repair relations with the Chekwani people, granting them rights to property, suffrage, and citizenship until eventually Botherland voted its first Chekwani president, though racism against the Chekwani is pretty common as they have been considered the minority population in their own home.

Lavonia
ro-wallvin.gif

The Duchy of Lavonia was always avoided by the surrounding nation simply cause they had a vampire problem and continue to have on to this day. The Vampire-Lavonian war devastated the Lavonian people and the government was weakened significantly. Its become so bad that villages have to set up their own militias since the army is caught up fighting Vampire gangs. Rural Lavonia is split amongst warlords who have their own militias and require protection fees from the residents. The area is rife with conflict as the Royal Army has engaged with the Warlords before and even the Warlords fight each other. The common people live in serfdom as they work to for rations and protection everyday of their lives. Meanwhile, the Vampires stay in their castles and live in comfort sometimes feuding with each other and consolidating their territory.

Elven Nations

Kingdom of Varya
the_elder_scrolls__royal_standard_of_queen_ayrenn_by_okiir_d6gdc5b-fullview.png

Varya was settled by the Candar and was divided amongst royal houses until they were conquered by the most dominant house, Osberm. Osberm is and always has been control of the Kingdom by holding the most influential political and military positions. The other houses have tried to overthrow the Osberm but have been crushed silently. But despite its internal struggles, the Varyan have made a lot of academic and scientific achievements and they conduct a lot of research expeditions abroad while home to some of the best universities in the world. But they're very hard to get into for non-cantar's. The Royal military primarily consists of Osberm's people while the other houses rely on their own forces for security on a local level.

In terms of international affairs, the Cantar hate everyone and prefer to work with the United Republic solely for economic benefit. They have soldiers abroad to protect their economic interests in Zogbor and Linsenor and are even in conflict with Minjeong and are currently losing. So far they're in a stalemate but the conflict could go off at any moment.

The Monarch is the head of state and their decrees are law. They have a royal court who advises the majesty on policy and each member is chosen by the majesty. This leaves their choices to be influenced by outside factors but because the current monarch has installed all their own pawns, their untouchable politically.

Kingdom of Linsenor
TcyIsrl.jpg

Linsenor is a volcanic region and the whole region is ashy from eruptions and only the grey elves can live in that atmosphere without any sort of inhalation filters. The undar aren't divided on tribal or regional lines so the Kingdom is unitary. All the decisions are made by the majesty who rules Linsenor. Similar to Varya they have a royal court of advisers who advise the majesty on domestic and international affairs. There is mandatory conscription for all undar who live in Linsenor starting at the age of 20 (7 in human years) and they train while at the same time getting an education. Linsenor used to be in constant war with Varya for a decade and they're perfectly content with recruiting child soldiers.

But in the last conflict with the Varya, they lost a lot of economic independence as the Varyans gained access to mines where the Linsenorans make their weapons. The Varyans maintain a small presence there and many rogue undar bandit gangs have attempted to sabotage their mining operations. Linsenor has denied all accusations made by Varya against their interests and despite the loss of their mines, Linsenor still flourishes. They've allowed military advisors from Nordland and the Orc Confederacy to train their soldiers. In order to accommodate the outsiders, they live in filtrated rooms making the air breathable.

Linsenor doesn't have much to offer the outside so they always keep to themselves since they have Varya to deal with.

Kingdom of Yallion
112234-The_Elder_Scrolls-Okiir-Flag_of_Morrowind.jpeg

East Niro is known for its lush forests and the Sondar praise these forests by providing them with the means to live. Thus Yallion rules more like a theocracy than anything. The monarch is advised by a spiritual council and their religious order, the Church of Masala which is one of the most powerful political institutions and are instrumental to education, scientific discovery, studying and preserving the Yallion wildlife, and approving or reviewing law. Modern civilization won't be found here, if anything there will be villages, townships, and homesteads. Even the capital, Milasmol is a township and the monarch lives on a manor and the church is just the size of a cathedral. Their energy infrastructure is partly run by dwarves who help set up their geothermal plants and maintain them.

Yallion is in constant war with the Skavians as they each try to invade each other for the forests. Yallion has been on a few crusades to Skavian to 'Save the Sacred forests of Skavia from the Skavian tribe' while the Skavians want more forestland to breed and populate.

Yallion is xenophobic for reasons that can be as simplified as 'We don't want you in our forests.'

Dwarves

Durin

deb8da3db97f52f13231407c1ce8d11e.jpg

Durin had been the home of the Dwarves since the Dawn of Creation, only they have been able to adapt to the chilled plains and the frozen mountains. The majority of their population lives in the mountains for better to access to resources. All the minerals are used to build their technology, they collect snow and ice from the mountains to replenish their water supply, and there are dwarf villages in the plains which grow produce, raise livestock, and materials needed to make textiles. Though terrace farming is also huge in the Dwarven controlled mountains.

Dwarves are ruled by an Electoral Monarchy. There are four royal houses for which the Dwarves can cast their ballot to, House Tosh, House Gandish, House Aeducan, and House Gormin. A monarch rules for as long as they want until the population calls for an election. This can be done through means of assembly in The Forum in the capital, Dayorin. The Forum is used as a place for citizens to gather and share their issues on grievances. This speeches are broadcasted throughout the kingdom via radio.

All of Durin's economy is nationalized, so the monarch is advised by executives who are elected by workers of a certain industry to represent them in the royal court and run the sectors of industries. They like to maintain contact with the outside and make great sums of money through exports.

Orcs

Orc Confederacy
1412647081590.png

Orcs were always warring with each other, even when united under an empire they were always warring with each other. The five major tribes include, Mag'Kar, K'Gat, Kilrog, Bogsto, and Yor. Other smaller clan existed, but they've either left or had been exterminated. The region known as Zogbor was bountiful of fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gases. While the orcs were killing each other, Varya, Linsenor, and Tetora invaded Zogbor and established colonies on fuel reserves, robbing Zogbor of their natural resources. This turned Zogbor into a war zone as the colonizers used orc mercenaries to fight the clans and each other. A mass exodus of orcs had occurred with some going to Tetora or Kathria. Those who went to Kathria were lucky to be free while those who went to Tetora were discriminated, especially in the central regions.

When Tetora neared its downfall, the Orcs banded together as the humans left and the tribes put aside their differences to fight the elf invaders, but they didn't have the resources to take on both Linsenor and Varya. Instead, the orcs allied with Varya after hearing they were invading Linsenor and were winning. The tribes joined Varya and kicked Linsenor out of Zogbor. The Orcs gained control of the fuel reserves owned by the humans and undar while the cantar were still allowed access to their reserves.

The orcs confederated and are ruled as an oligarchy under the five chiefs, each chief has their own council who advises them on the matters of their tribes needs and the chiefs decide on policy to benefit the five tribes. They each share economic dependency and common defense but their laws and culture are different from each other. As Zogbor never had the chance to develop properly like other nations, the region is somewhat underdeveloped which has lead to a lot of organized crime in Zogbor who mostly deal with drug trafficking with minerals found exclusively in Zogbor that are mostly used for hallucinogenics and are prominent in the Iron Legion and United Republic.

Fae

Principality of Lilonead

Lilonead makes a perfect home for the fae. The region is known for its height. They can grow past 300 meters (approx. 1000 ft) and they prefer to stay in the trees anyway due to the predators and venomous plants that exist on the forest floors. The grass grows passed 100 meters (approx. 300 ft) so its easy to get lost down there and get killed by a giant wasp or saber tooth tiger. The trees are large enough to establish civilization and the fae have managed well without a need for contact with the outside. You will never see anyone in Lilionead who isn't fae.

Internal conflict isn't in Lilonead's vocabulary as the fae have no aptitude for politics. They're more interested in science, magic, literature, and academics.

Everyone compares to elves and the only distinction is that they don't bother anyone.

Lilonead is ruled by a prince/princess of the Petola Dynasty, the only fae royal family in existence, or so they claim. Their court is small compared to other nations. There's the Courtmage who acts as the liaison between the royals and the Fae Mage's Guild, the Steward who advises the monarch on domestic and foreign affairs, the Captain of the Royal Guard who manage the forces responsible for protecting the ruler of Lilonead and the royal family, and the General of the Defense Force who is responsible for protecting Lilonead.

Beastfolk

Alliance of East Wood

The Alliance of East Wood is a loose confederation consisting of the beastfolk people. The four races have split East Wood into tribes that correlate with their race. Similar to the orcs, they share economic dependency and common defense as well as utilizing separate governments and cultures. The Alliance council acts as the representing body for the tribes to other nations and manage any sort of act that will be enacted throughout the Alliance.

The tribes themselves aren't derived from any sort of lineage like the orc clans are. Instead the chief of each tribe is voted in by the their people and they act as a liaison between the Alliance and their tribe. They control the resources in their tribal province and are responsible for legislating, enforcing, and reviewing the law in their tribe. In times of conflict between tribes, the Alliance government will step in to mediate conflicts should the problem arise.

This is pretty rare as the tribes are tightly knit and are heavily reliant on each other.
