Alstro Edelweiss

"Yawn..." Alstro sat in the back corner of the classroom and did a small yawn, he rubbed his eyes and was self-conscious about whether or not the dark circles under them were worst than usual as the students trickled in to wake him with the noise and emotions in the air. He had gotten here...fairly early, and that would be an understatement. One of his teammates, likely that excitable partner he had for the team sorting ceremony, seemed to be so excitable that they had some sort of thrill-filled dream. It woke him up quite early a couple of times deep into the night, as Alstro felt like there were pop rocks glued all over him while he tried to sleep. Hence why he left at almost the brink of dawn, or early enough that it wouldn't be considered a breach of curfew rules to be out and about. Looking back at his teammates who were still asleep, it would be a hassle if one of them gets up and find him gone. A few pillows lined up in a vaguely person-shaped formation and a few of his feathers were good enough as a disguise to make it seem like that he was still around. Although Alstro didn't think about what would he do when his teammates wake up at the correct time to wake up.

Alstro wasn't exactly an early riser, he thought his circadian rhythm was perfectly average. That was true in a sense when he lived alone and slept in a room alone. It was the first time he realized that someone could be so excitable that they trigger his semblance while they're dreaming. Talk about a handful. Eventually, the boy wandered near the classroom of the first class, he was supposed to be here, albeit the fact that he was extremely early. It was empty, the early morning air slightly cold, but the cloak kept him warm and cozy. He had fell asleep in the back corner, right up until class almost started. It was a good thing he brought all of his stuff with him, as he didn't think he would return to the dorms, but it sort of sucked that breakfast was out of the question at this point.

"Yawn..." Another yawn came out of the boy as the white feathers on his head shook a few times, almost as if sensing the air. He gazed around for anyone he knew or his teammates, as the extremely inconspicuous spot he dozed in was almost impossible to catch eye of.

Sersi Jadis

Role: Head Mistress

Location: Head Mistresses Office / Hallway

Interactions: The First Year Students

Alerts had been going off all morning as all across the continent Grimm attacks had been taking place. Sersi looked at her screen as she finished routing yet another set of teams consisting of upperclassmen to an attack North of Haven. It was hard to believe that already the kingdom's defenses had been stretched so thin that almost every badge-carrying huntsman and huntress were already engaged in some sort of mission and now they were having to send in students. Crimson eyes scanned the map that stretched across her desk, and she placed a marker to show that the last of the current threats was soon to be managed. Glancing to her side she watched the cameras at the airship dock, her gaze focusing on the team of second years that were currently geared up and heading out to deal with one of the current Grimm attacks. She recognized the team as Team CTUS, a formidable group that showed great promise and bright futures ahead of them. She hoped that they, along with the other students, would survive this encounter as they rushed off to assist the huntsmen who set off the distress signal.

Sending students into a situation like this didn’t sit right with the Head Mistress as she looked over the roster of students on their way to fight for real rather than in a classroom. She had expressed such opinions when the Haven Council contacted her early this morning on the matter but once she realized the seriousness of the situation, she knew she had no other choice. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a new red dot spring to life on her map of Mistral. The distress beacon was pinging from a town just to the west of Haven and when Sersi pulled it up on her screen for more info her heart sunk when there was none. This wasn’t good. All distress beacons were usually connected to some sort of message, however short, to fill them in on what was happening. This beacon was blank which means someone was in such a hurry to send it that they couldn’t say what was happening.

Looking over her screens again Sersi knew she had no more teams of upperclassmen that she could send to deal with this situation. Swiftly she moved a marker to the new dot that signified help was on the way before she waved her hand to close the map. With that, the Head Mistress departed her office and hastily made her way towards the airship docks. As she walked, she pulled out her scroll and typed in a sequence of codes that allowed her to access the intercoms to Ray Yavalla’s classroom. “All first-year teams are being called into action.” She stated firmly over the speaker of his classroom. “Teams are to meet Professor Grimm, Professor Grey, Professor Scarlett, Professor Yavalla, and me at the airship docks. This is not a drill. Bring your weapons and be ready to listen to anything a professor tells you to do.” She informed the students as she sent the professors what little information she had on the situation. “You all came to this school to become huntsmen and huntresses; it is time to learn what that means.”

As one of his fellow teammates questioned the idea of whether or not they even had the same class, Koji could only chuckle and give a shrug of his shoulders in response while he started to head out the room and into the hallway. "Eh, who knows. Surely the teachers can't get too mad at us on the first day of class. Honestly, if anything we'd probably be okay too if we were just to hang around and explore the place. Just using the excuse that we're still looking for our class." Of course, he was simply joking about the matter, truthfully Koji wanted to be able to meet his instructors to see how they acted so that he would know at least how he should be treating them throughout the rest of the year.

With that, the trio headed throughout the halls to find their first classroom and low and behold that they found it before they were even late. Koji had decided to take one of the seats at the back of the class just so that he could sit back and relax while he listened to the instructor go on and on about the boring history of the Grimm as well as their anatomy. All the while in the back of the class, Koji had taken out two of his multiple decks of cards just to shuffle them together and practice a few of his disappearing tricks before his own eyes just to make sure that he hadn't gotten rusty.

Midway through the class, the sudden sound of the intercom going off and the headmistress stating for first year students to be heading to the docks as well as how this wasn't a drill had Koji pause in the middle of one of his tricks causing multiple cards to be hovering midair in front of him. "Oh? We're being called into action? How...exciting." With another chuckle escaping his mask, he'd help himself off his seat just to head straight out of the room rather than wait for the professor to be instructing them where to go. Giving a wave to his fellow teammates before he had exited the room. "Hey, I'll see you by the docks guys! Not sure how much more I can listen to this geezer here before I fall asleep!" And with that, he made sure to make a swift dash down the hall before the instructor decided to stop him.

It relieved her to know that no unseen damage had been done to either of them, at least not that she could make out. She lifted her classmates with a bit of effort, leaving them to dust themselves off as needed. “Of course, couldn’t just leave you two on the floor. Rival team or otherwise.” She joked, making extra sure her less vocal friend was alright before taking in their surroundings. She vaguely remembered where she’d found the names and classroom numbers, but that’d take another few minutes they probably didn’t have to spare. “We can walk together and figure it out as we go.” And that’s precisely what they did.

She didn’t mention the accident as she took her seat with the rest of their team, leaving the explanation of their near lateness a mystery. Paying attention to the lesson was surprisingly easy, all things considered, and she took plenty of notes on the off chance her peers missed anything. She dreaded the hand cramp she knew inevitably awaited her, not that it would stay a problem for too long. The Head Mistress’s announcement promised plenty of time to work it out while in the field but left her little time to figure out how she’d get her team to communicate without killing one another. Her nerves tensed, both from excitement and anxiety. The ghost of doubt passed her mind, only allowed to linger for a moment. She trusted her team to come together when it really mattered, whether by her direction or their own instincts to live.

She hurried to her locker, tossing her notebook inside and grabbing the harness that held her weapon securely at her back. After some careful adjustments and tightening, the oversized boomerang she lovingly named ‘Desert Whirlwind’ slipped securely into place. She gave the straps a few test tugs before slamming her locker closed and rushing off to join everyone else at the docks. She’d nearly clothes lined a few students in her haste before realizing that maneuvering through the crowd without turning it vertically would be impossible. She silently thanked the designer of her holster for thinking ahead for such occasions.

Tempest came to a halt near the back of the crowd, waiting for any sign of her teammates. All she’d need to do was listen for the inevitable fighting that came with putting Nav and Jas too close together. Reese on the other hand would probably find her before she had any hope of spotting the often invisible Faunus. At least she could take comfort in the cacophony of voices all around her, leaving little room for her own worried thoughts to cloud her judgment.

Annora felt as though she’d spent most of her morning rushing around when, in reality, her morning had moved at an average pace. Unsurprisingly, she was used to staying up long into the evening and waking closer to mid afternoon. Despite her best efforts to change her sleep schedule before she arrived at school, old habits were hard to break. She’d finally woken up after the third alarm and nearly left out the door without her trusty hat. The beanie was old and certainly battered, but it reminded her of home and helped tone down the overwhelming volume often found in the crowded halls of a school.

Finding their classroom was easy enough and she was surprised to find one of her teammates there at all. What was his name again? Alstro? That sounded right. She couldn’t recall seeing him up and around at all that morning. She’d assumed he was still sound asleep in bed. With a physical shrug, she resigned herself to never knowing and sat down with her team. She’d never had to sit in one place and focus on someone talking for so long without being able to chime in with her own comments. She’d take notes in one color ink and write her own comments or questions in another. The edges of her paper were filled with scribbles and the occasional doodle, growing more frequent the longer the lesson went on. The announcement interrupted her crude attempts at doodling ivy leaves, and she all but jumped at the opportunity to get some hands-on experience.

She left her things in the bottom of her locker with complete abandon, grabbing her Bonk Stick and the strap that held it before moving along. She compacted the steel staff and secured it shut, making sure it wouldn’t pop open until she was good and ready. Upon entering the docks, she felt a new appreciation for remembering her hat. She could hardly hear herself think, let alone pick out her name in the crowd if anyone had been calling it. Rather, she kept an eye out for the heads of her teammates. A familiar flash of dark blue caught her eye, though there were plenty of people between them. She carefully tiptoed through the crowd, more than used to finding holes to make her way through. “These crowds are almost as brutal as the ones in Wind Path! Ya see anyone else yet, captain?” She called over the other students.

  • Hodur Lazuli

Hodur sat next to koji and immediately started daydreaming. The professor, who was currently going over the typical beginning of year information and started to branch into the history of Grimm, had Hodur steadily dozing off until the sound of the intercom rang through the large classroom announcing that all teams were to report to the docks. "Action on the first day? I think I like this school" he grinned and jumped out of his seat to follow Koji who had already bolted out of the class. by the time he arrived at the airship docks, it was already lined with first-year students standing in groups of four, Hodur immediately ran over to his team and stood to the left of koji with a gleam of excitement in his eyes.

There were so many different teams with varieties of weapons all of which only fueled the excitement that was bubbling his chest. The small shred of cockiness Hodur inherited from his father now presented itself in a small grin with the idea that his team would be the best there is, almost making the rather serious situation into a competition that only he was aware of.

(I wanted to put this in with my last post but something's messing with the coding and I can't figure it out. So, for now, I'm just putting Elwin's thing here.)

So far this new school was everything El hoped to find. His teammates seemed plenty capable, the place was always buzzing with some sort of activity, and his skills were actually welcome for once. Thus far, he hadn’t actually made friends with anyone. He didn’t want to assume all of his teammates would be buddy buddy, but so far he had higher hopes for them than he did for team TJRN. Iris and Camilla already seemed so close, so earning one’s favor would hopefully transfer to the other. Not that either had been outwardly wary of him, much to his relief. And their leader, while a little unsure of himself, seemed serious about his role in everything.

Class had been surprisingly interesting. Elwin had always been more of “learn by doing” type, books never really did it for him. Hearing stories from experienced teachers, however, proved to be easy to wrap his head around. He didn’t bother with notes, they’d be just as useful as a textbook to him. If he really needed to know something, he could always ask around. Speaking of experience based learning… It seemed the time for that had come already. He was a little bummed that the rest of the lesson would have to wait, but the excitement quickly overruled it. He breezed by his locker, grabbing his trusty short sword and kicking the door shut on his way past.

How anyone would be able to find their teachers in the mess of bodies was beyond Elwin. He purposefully waded through the crowd, trying to be as polite as circumstances would allow. He came to a stop beside their team leader, clearing his throat before attempting some semblance of a casual conversation. “So, how’s your morning going Kazu? Seems like you had a rough start.”

Ooc: Moved them from original spot so it’s in correct order lol

Teddy

Teddy was up and ready once the announcement went over the intercom. She of course waited for Professor Ray to also motion them all out before heading off. It didn’t take long for all the students to file out towards their designated location. The looks on all the faces all around varied greatly some looked nervous, scared, unsure, while others looked ready for the action. She wasn’t opposed to fighting already however this was a serious matter and not something they should take lightly. Things like this could lead to someone’s death if people weren’t careful.

She looked around searching for the members of her team when she saw them smiled some. Once she headed towards them her gaze also focused seeing the professors beginning to gather into an area together and wondered if anything more would be said. Her weapon placed beside her as the large hammer like weapon did have needles on one end she tried to not accidentally jab anyone with them as people jostled around. Once she fixed her weapon into place she figured there would be said about the situation and also her interest was on what type of grimm it was they were about to face. Either way she hoped that her abilities would work on it she had a lullaby type one and it often helped more with large groups of enemies. Though it’s not like she knew how effective it was against the grimm let having never really encountered them fighting wise only when she was young and made to run from them.

Iris

Iris was rather quiet for once which was surprising the wolf was almost always active and doing something. However for now she followed along side Camilla liking to stay near the lovely bat winged beauty. She sighed some this wasn’t what she wanted for a first day of course it thrilled her as well. In fact her blood was racing at the thought of being able to kill some grimm yet nerves also shot through her. Things were about to get serious and quickly she glanced at Camilla wondering what she was thinking about all of this. Also what her other team mates were thinking about this since they had all just gotten to class when the announcement went off. She thought it might have been a bit of a joke at first however the look on the Professors face had been serious.

Once they arrived to their destination she moved closer to Camilla.”What do you think it’s going to be like?”she asked her companion softly. She looked around once more her wolf ears flicking around listening intently to those all around them. She could also pick up the scents of fear and excitement filling the air something that made her nose crinkle. It wasn’t surprising though so many strong and different scents at once bothered her sensitive nose. Her gaze swiveled back towards Camilla hearing her answer she listened intently to her friend. While she listened she shifted her weapon currently her dual axes were together forming a double sided axe that way it wasn’t in the way as they made their way over towards their other team mates.

  • "Listen, I got the skills, the talent, and the can-do attitude. So let's do it to it!"
    Navajo Shatterghast
The Man With the Awesome Plan Something wasn't right. Reese said she would meet the rest of the team at class. So where was she? Heck, where was the rest of the team? Nav had slept in that morning, and even he got here before of them did! Okay, he may or may not have used his semblance when no one was looking, but no one could prove otherwise so it was fine! What was not fine was waiting around when he just wanted to take a seat in class and doze off.

Seriously, that's what scrolls were for, recording classes and then going over the useful or practical information for tests and exams. Sighing, Navajo headed off, looking for his teammates.

His instincts weren't wrong. After all, not walking too long through the school, he heard a group of boys talking about how they punked a certain faunus. A faunus whose description matched all too well of his partners.

Navajo gritted his teeth before smirking.

"Hey, punks! You a bunch of bullies, right?"

Nav yelled this loud enough for everyone to hear, all throughout the hallways he was nearest to. The group of guys looked confused before getting closer, sneering at Nav's display. Nav rolled his shoulders. Typical. An unfair fight.

    For them.

"That means you all are one of three things. You all weren't loved enough by your mommies or daddies, your brains are the sizes of cockroaches and you don't know how to interact with people like the rest of us, or you all got penises the size of Snickers minis."

    He grinned, cracking his knuckles.

"So, care to enlighten me which is it?"

A fist was throw Navajo's way. He ducked under. And Nav's fist sunk into the first unlucky offender's face, snapping and crushing the cartilage in the boy's nose, pushing straight through the aura. Navajo grinned a wicked grin.

One with far too many teeth in it. This was gonna be fun.

    A FEW MINUTES LATER
The final bully was sent into the janitor's bucket, covered in bruises and bleeding. Now he had wet clothes to deal with two. Navajo wiped his hands as well as wiped the blood of on his clothing. Of course, that meant today would be an early laundry day, but maybe the blood on the jacket would get the message across.

No one messed with his teammates. Not a single soul. Especially not Reese, as sweet as the girl was. Navajo felt comfortable around her, the first time in ages. He had forgotten there were people who were still that innocent. Maybe it would be lost with time and experience as a huntress. But for now, innocence was bliss, was it not?

Walking down the hallway with an exaggerated swagger and pep in his step, his gait continued along with his hands behind his head. Maybe the school did not know it, but he was going to prove he was the best. Not the king of his school or his generation or anything as small as that. The Best. Period.

But for now, he'll settle for following the announcement, hearing the commotion. Already? A mission? What a dumb move. Navajo might be prepared to deal with Grimm on the field, but everyone else? He could only vouch for Reese so far. This was too early. No lessons, no teamwork lessons, nothing. You had to put a little training first and then throw people into the deep end. Or maybe this was a test. Throwing people into the deep end and then reviewing what could have gone better. If so, he planned to ace it. Either way, nothing fazed him right now.

He sent a text to his teammates.

[/See ya' at the air docks, fellas. Also, Reese, you weren't harassed this morning, were ya'?]

He might as well check. Maybe those punks were referring to another Faunus, but honestly, who cares? No matter if it was Reese or anyone else, he taught those guys what they deserved.

Now, he ran forward, towards the docks, blowing past everyone else in the hall way and parkouring out an open window into the air before rolling on his landing and continuing forward. He would soon arrive at the docks where the other professors and teachers were before beginning to tap his foot impatiently, waiting on everyone else.

The Headmaster was going to teach them what it means to be a huntsman, huh? Please. If anything, he was going to teach her.

So bring it on! He was coming for those Grimm and everything else in his path!
